The Independent horror film DO NOT DISTURB was shown at 2022's Popcorn Frights film festival in South Florida and FlickDirect's Austin Putnam spoke with actress Kimberly Laferriere and director/writer John Ainslie about the challenges of filming in a small hotel room. ABOUT DO NOT DISTURBDo Not Disturb follows Chloe and Jack's honeymoon in Miami where a peyote trip to strengthen their marriage becomes a narcotic nightmare. As they confront their troubled relationship, they discover that this strand of peyote awakens a desire to consume human flesh. Feel free to follow the show, me, and my guest on social media: DHH | Jay | Michael

This concept finds Frank having to watch a movie he's never seen before based on the random spin of a wheel filled with off-the-wall genres. In this episode, Frank's category was "You Wanna Get Nuts? Writer, director, producer, actor, editor, cinematographer… he literally does it all! Swanberg sits down with Adam, Joe, and Arwen to discuss his career journey from aspiring basketball player to filmmaker… the films and filmmakers of the mid-80's to mid-90's that inspired him while working at Hollywood Video… how he prioritizes projects that “can be made tomorrow” rather than investing years developing giant productions that may never ever get made at all… how working with Adam Wingard helped teach him how to make really good movies really fast… and how he turned a combination of fear and major life changes like becoming a father, getting divorced, and being broke into the very fuel that kept him churning out project after project in his 20's and 30's. Swanberg also discusses acting in Mickey Keating's latest film OFFSEASON which opened in theaters on March 11th and is currently available on VOD and digital! Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for a filmmaker unsure of just how much time, energy, and money to spend promoting and traveling with a short film on the festival circuit and Swanberg reveals where you can now finally stream his earlier previously impossible to find films in this total geek-out between three fellow filmmakers / cinematic nerds.

AFTERBUZZ TV - AfterBuzz TV's Mini Spotlight edition, is a short form interview series featuring actors & artists discussing their roles and shows as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Steph Sabraw interviews Christina Elizabeth. She was also featured in writer/director Mickey Keating’s indie horror thriller Psychopaths. She wrote, produced and starred in the dramatic short Pretext, all of which takes place during a tense conversation between a rape victim and her rapist. And she was the comical referee on the football betting series Cousin Sal’s Sure Thing. A Nashville, Tennessee native, and a graduate of Northwest High School, Smith got her first taste of show business as a competitive dancer. During that period, as part of a tap dancing trio, she won the U.S. National Championship. However, acting was a stronger draw for her, and she soon began to appear in stage plays, music videos and commercials in her native Tennessee. She also made her feature film debut as the star of Happy and Dead, which was produced locally. When opportunities dried up in Nashville (she had appeared in so many music videos, she was oversaturated in the market), she decided to pursue her acting ambition in Southern California. One of her favorite early experiences was working opposite actress Geena Davis in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy, in which she portrayed a traumatized mother seeking treatment for her suffocating baby. She also came to the attention of filmmaker Darrell Holmes who cast her as a popular girl in his romantic comedy Promenade. She then booked a victim role in the Morbid Minutes web series, which was directed by Ted Raimi, and she‘s the dippy bimbo sister opposite Bree Essrig in the Killer Sisters Midnight Hour horror movie review show for director Michael Williamson. Smith’s other television credits include: Young, Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Wacko Smacko. Her additional feature credits include: The Rocker, Ever, Mountain, and she starred opposite Alan Ruck and Kathleen Wilhoit in director Mike Williamson’s horror short Deathly. Comfortable with comedy roles, Smith is a veteran of The Groundlings, 10 West, and Upright Citizen’s Brigade. When she isn’t acting, she continues to dance; she’s passionate about animal rights, and fascinated with mythic storytelling from around the world. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

We took a week off so that Luke could live the lavish life, but we're back! Despite the rocky take-off, we get things rolling in what should be a great comeback episode. We're also joined by a man who knows a thing or two about horror movies and legal issues, Patrick Anderson. More on that in a moment The news feed start off with MIDNIGHT MAN. Robert Englund has the genre excited, but are we hype to play the game? A QUIET PLACE isn't what you might be used to from THE OFFICE alum, John Krasinski, and that's a good thing. It doesn't appear that Guillermo del Toro's THE SHAPE OF WATER is an Abe Sapien origin story, but there is no denying that it is gorgeous. Russian film THE BRIDE hasn't even hit foreign soil, yet it's already being targeted for a remake from some heavy hitters. THE STRANGERS: PREY AT NIGHT website is collecting some personal information. Can you guess who gave them that info and who didn't? Zoinks! There is going to be another live action Scooby Doo movie, this time an origin story of its two female character, DAPHNE AND VELMA..And did we mention there will be zombies? Yes, zombies. FINALLY, we have Patrick walk us through the insane legal drama that is happening with the original FRIDAY THE 13TH film. There are some very interesting implications around this one. You've heard us on several occasions talk about Mickey Keating, and this week we check out his latest film PSYCHOPATHS. It is one of those films that is hard to spoil, so we had a lot of fun talking about this one. In Round 3 we play a variation of the betting game. Luke looks to lick his wounds against newcomer Patrick. Will Luke finally put one in the W column, or is Patrick leaving with the trophy? Hit play and find that out plus a ton more in the triumphant return of The Modern Horrors Podcast!
Sure we're often a day or two late, but sometimes we're a day early! And boy are we coming at you with a special episode brought to you by Audible.com. Go to audibletrial.com/modernhorrors for a free download and extended trial! In surprising news, CREEP 3 is confirmed before most people even get to see CREEP 2. We knew THE STRANGERS was getting a sequel, but now we know its name: THE STRANGERS: PREY AT NIGHT. THE NEW MUTANTS may be one of the first times that we can recall a big studio following through with its promise to take a franchise “full horror”. Dating apps have never been scarier than in the life ruining film BAD MATCH, while Satan looks like he is back to make rockers bad ass in AMERICAN SATAN. Finally we get the long awaited trailer from Mickey Keating's PSYCHOPATHS. For our second and FINAL round, we're coming at you with not one, not two, not even three movie reviews. We are giving you FOUR reviews. First up is our spotlight film BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99 coming from S. Craig Zahler of BONE TOMAHAWK fame. It's Vince Vaughn and violence, which may be all you need. Then we take a turn to Crystal Lake and check out the unbelievable fan-film NEVER HIKE ALONE. Sure it's free, but your time is important and we let you know if it's worth it. Finally, Luke went and checked out HAPPY DEATH DAY while Jacob watched the Netflix original THE BABYSITTER. Both have a level of hype behind them, but as always we're here to sort out expectations. That's episode 124 of The Modern Horrors Podcast. Thanks as always to our Patrons and to those you always share and like each episode!

Welcome the newest episode of Dark Discussions, your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that’s fantastic. Eight Films to Die For, a group of films that After Dark would release limited around the United States for a two week period yearly, actually had a few gems out of the group. Some of the more famous that have become cult film fans favorites include The Hamiltons, Lake Mungo, Dread, and Mulberry Street to name a few. However, there was a little scene one entitled Ritual from 2013 which was actually a pretty good film that co-host Phil listed as one of the top 20 best horror films of that year. Since, director Mickey Keating has had three more films released in a two year period. In 2016 he released festival flicks Darling and Carnage Park. However, in 2015 he released a little film called Pod that Dark Discussions decided to critique. When Martin leaves a voice mail for his brother Ed to stay away and don't tell anyone where he is, Ed meets up with their sister Lyla, and the two head to Martin's remote Maine lake home to find out what's wrong. When they arrive, they discover Martin has gone off the rails. Paranoid, scared, and most certainly dangerous, he begins ranting about a government conspiracy about experiments done upon unwitting soldiers. Now, having tried to go off the grid, Martin now believes that he's being followed and in danger of being killed. Ed and Lyla try to decipher the rantings of their sibling. Written and directed by Mickey Keating, the film stars genre favorite, Lauren Ashley Carter as Lyla, probably first noticed by horror fans in the sleeper hit Jugface. Dean Cates plays Ed while Brian Morvant, who plays Martin, easily shines as a disturbed person that may or may not be telling the truth. Listed as a top twenty film by Dark Discussions last year, co-hosts Abe and Phil take a look at it more closely. As always we welcome your comments: darkdiscussions@aol.com (written email or attached mp3 files) WWW.DARKDISCUSSIONS.COM

I hope your body is ready for a big ol' load of The Grave Plot Podcast. ...No good? Sorry, Taylor's better at writing these. But, Taylor is nowhere to be found on this 60th episode, paving the way for the grand return of Tony's dad, John as the guest co-host. He and Tony discuss a healthy dollop of Horror Business, John giving his [lengthy] insight on stories about TNT's plans to be the go-to channel for your horror fix, some info about Twin Peaks possibly trying to pull a fast one on us, news about two upcoming Stephen King adaptations, the future of The Walking Dead, and new sequels for popular franchises. Oh, and something about a dumb shark movie. Next, Tony and his dad dive into discussion about Mickey Keating's critical darling, Darling (see what I did there?), the story of a housesitter with a dark side. And to wrap up the show, they talk about the new multi-writer/director anthology Holidays. Follow along with Tony, John and Taylor's called-in reviews as they dissect these two movies. So bite down and hold on tight, because it's gonna be a long one. And that's what she said.
