Donnie Demers has had a charmed life with a loving family, childhood performing, and success after success until the multi-platinum record days in France. Ray Stevens' Nashville is a Nashville you will love, too. Ray takes you behind the scenes into the recording sessions and into the dressing rooms and shares his Nashville with us in a very entertaining way. It's fun, informative and funny. If you are a fan of Ray Stevens, country or pop music, or the city of Nashville, you will love Ray Stevens' Nashville. Ray Stevens was recently described in the Nashville Tennessean newspaper as the most talented man on Music Row. Not bad for a guy who moved to town in 1962 with all of his worldly possessions in the smallest U-Haul trailer available at the time, and as he will tell you, it wasn't full. A Hall of Fame songwriter, Grammy award winning vocalist and arranger with numerous Gold and Platinum Records, and nine consecutive Comedian of the Year statuettes, Ray says he is a piano man in a guitar town, which makes the career of this imaginative and prolific musician even more notable. Many Nashville recording artists have a couple of country hits, buy a few new flashy cars and a hillbilly bus and go off performing around the country to make room for, you know, the new kid in town, the next big thing. But Ray Stevens didn't have a couple of hits, he had a string of them and he didn't buy a bus and leave town, he rented a plane so he could fly home and sleep in his own bed every night. He didn't view his success as a fast burn, but simply the natural result of doing his job well, and he never got tired of that job. His is an American dream story of humble beginnings, talent, and hard work. He has always gotten up every day and gone to work, just like his folks taught him to do, and the way his mill employee father modeled for him. Part of the answer of his long success is that he has never been comfortable with being a Star. In fact, he is a very reluctant celebrity, always shunning limos, presidential suites, and the star treatment in general. When told a production company would send a limo for him he replied, Just tell me the address, I have a car and I've been driving since I was 16. He loves Nashville, it's his adopted hometown. He likes breakfast with old friends every Saturday morning at a small neighborhood restaurant, and being able to be at work after just a 15 minute drive. He loves the architecture, the people, the business, and being surrounded by the best musicians in the world that he can call on at a moment s notice to come to one of his state of the art recording studios and help him create that most elusive of all things-- a Hit Record.

My guest today is Sam Gribben, the CEO of the music learning platform Melodics. Melodics is a software platform that teaches you to play keyboards, pad controllers and electronic drums. Melodics uses gamification of practice to encourage you to keep working at getting better. Prior to founding Melodics, Sam was CEO of the DJ software company Serato, where he joined as employee #4 and eventually helped to scale the company into an industry leader. During the interview we spoke about how to keep the fun in learning music, why many DJs and producers want to learn how to play keyboards, how the term “musician” ruins music for many people, why music teachers have embraced Melodics, and much more. I spoke with Sam via Zoom from his office in Auckland, New Zealand. On the intro I'll take a look at how gold and platinum records are determined, and Avid is acquired by the private equity company STG. var podscribeEmbedVars = { epId: 87169485, backgroundColor: 'white', font: undefined, fontColor: undefined, speakerFontColor: undefined, height: '600px', showEditButton: false, showSpeakers: true, showTimestamps: true };

Welcome to the final episode of 2020 of the RevNYou with Real Estate Podcast! In this edition, RevNYou Partner and host Doug Meyers is sitting down with Musician, Animal Activist, Real Estate Investor, and Keyspire team member Nick Skalkos. nick.skalkos@gmail.com @nickskalkos www.nickskalkos.com This is a truly unique conversation with an incredibly humble guest. Nick's real estate investing journey started in 2016 when he joined Canadian real estate educational company Keyspire. It was there that he learned how to invest in real estate and create powerful partnerships and ventures. Prior to getting into real estate, Nick was a mainstay in the Canadian music scene playing with bands including The Miniatures, Spirits, and The Mounties. He has also recorded on City and Colour's chart topping album "Little Hell" which garnered platinum record status. Nick is still very much involved in the music game where he now focuses on songwriting and producing with and for other artists. He is currently working on numerous projects spanning across all genres, including working with Scott McGillivray on his self-titled short album and the theme song to Scott's new HGTV show "Scott's Vacation House Rules". In four short years Nick has amassed 20 doors in Ontario and New Brunswick using strategies like Buy and Hold, Multi-units, house jacking, BRRRR, J.V. and using private lending, but it's not as though he seeks to position his portfolio as a selling feature for becoming an investor - in fact, this conversation takes place around a time when, as Nick says he is feeling "a bit deflated" around real estate, the reason which is shared throughout the show. In this wide-ranging, transparent conversation, Nick and Doug touch on: Nick's childhood and origin of becoming a musician How Nick "fell victim" to the HGTV Income Property phenomenon, which led him to real estate investing with his wife Working with Scott McGillivray and Keyspire, and the power of being surrounded by a network of real estate investors An open look at Nick's real estate investing portfolio and strategies The honest truth around "feeling deflated" with real estate investing, and how to roll with that and keep going Doug shares the story of how Nick was the tipping point for a major change in his life What it means to Nick to "invest where returns are best" Investing outside of your place of residence - BUILD A GREAT TEAM! A big thank you to Nick for sharing his experiences and stories with us. We'll be looking out for his podcast coming in 2021: What You Should Know About Real Estate Investing with Nick Skalkos, Trevor Gaal, and Ben Friegang Do you have questions you'd like to ask the RevNYou with Real Estate team? Today's guest is Music Artist Simply Rayne! She talks to us about her new song "Don't Stop" ft. Baby Bash and a music video to be released soon! Bio“Repetition Equals Habit Equals Skill” — Simply RayneUrban-pop siren Simply Rayne is a fierce force for positivity poised to shine her light on the mainstream. But the 19-year-old self-described “Afro-tina” didn’t come out of the womb singing. Her journey to assured artistry has been steeped in hard work and self-possession. Now, she announces her reign with the irresistible tropical soul-pop single “Don’t Stop.” “I feel very empowered in this new era,” the San Antonio, Texas-based starlet says. “I know who I am, I know my roots, and I’m running with it. I want to make music for everyone, no matter what culture or background they come from.” Simply Rayne’s music is a smoldering fusion of classic and current R&B and soul, and pop spiked with a dash of hip-hop. Her aesthetic has been shaped by her parent’s impeccable record collection, and her own musical explorations. At home, Rayne was weaned on evergreens such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, Al Green, Diana Ross and Etta James. On her own she soaked up modern icons such as Michael Jackson, Destiny’s Child, Prince, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Mary J. Blige, and Lauryn Hill. However, by far her most seismic influence is none other than Beyoncé, and, incidentally, a sweetly charming Rayne appears in a concert trailer for Beyoncé’s 2013 Miss Carter Show World Tour. From out of the gate, Rayne has been positioned toward a promising music career. Her 2013 debut single earned her international airplay on radio 2RDJ-FM in Australia, and it secured her a feature on The Stars of Tomorrow Top Five Songs. In 2016, Rayne began a fruitful working relationship with the production duo The KlubJumpers (www.klubjumpersmusic.com) which remains vital to this day. The KlubJumpers have 80 Billboard-charting songs and numerous Gold and Platinum Records to their name. Rayne is a multi-faceted entertainer and has performed and made appearances in a wide variety of contexts. She’s appeared in film, television, modeling shows, radio festivals, sporting events, anti-bullying campaigns, award ceremonies, and at traditional musical performances. Select live performance highlights include sharing the stage with such diverse artists as Keith Sweat, Doug E. Fresh, Becky G., G-Eazy, Steve Aoki, Lil Wayne, Future, Migos, funk icons Lakeside, Wiz Khalifa, and Khalid. Rayne has also performed two years in a row at the Mala Luna Music Festival. In addition, she has the unique distinction as an indie artist of singing her original song “How We Do” to a televised and live audience of over 30,000 viewers at the Fiesta Texas Cavaliers River Parade in San Antonio. Onscreen, Rayne has been featured in a Taco Cabana Restaurant commercial, and she has also made an appearance as herself in the soon-to-be released independent film, The Margarita Man, a romantic college-comedy directed by Daniel Danny Ramos, and starring veteran actors Pepe Serna and Jesse Borego. Core to Rayne’s soul is her desire to set a positive example as a multi-cultural young woman, with faith-based ethos, and unflinching optimism. Following this path, she’s earned prime accolades and awards from a variety of sources. A cross section of highlights in this realm include earning the title of “Teen Vogue Ambassador”; cover features in ReFocused Magazine and ChicaGirl; being a Bold Favor Award Honoree, in recognition of amazing leadership in the entertainment field, and being named a City of San Antonio Youth Ambassador. Born Reiana Fernandez in San Antonio, Texas, Simply Rayne came into her own through hard work and big dreams. Initially, she had her heart set on becoming an actress and a model, but after experiencing the elegant thunder of Beyoncé, Reiana began the transformation to Rayne. The name came to a family friend who had an epiphanic dream where Reiana was outside in the rain. The beauty and purity of the image resonated with her. She added the “simply” out front to honor the warmly accessible side to her personality. At 13, Rayne applied her family’s work ethic to vocal lessons, pushing away her barriers of shyness in service of her dreams. “I really had to push myself—I was scared to sing in front of anybody. I had to get over it, and just put in the work,” she says. That enlightening year she made her singing performance debut at church. Simply Rayne has previously issued the empowering urban anthem “How We Do” and the smolderingly soulful ballad “Need To Know.” Her latest, “Don’t Stop,” produced by the Klubjumpers, and featuring Baby Bash, is an artistic high watermark. It’s a balmy sun-kissed track bursting with urban swagger, and Rayne’s sensually dreamy vocals that ease from a rhythmic soulfulness to a silken flow. The track was a full collaboration with her production team, and it has been imaginatively remixed by The Klubjumpers, Jay Salter, Dark Intensity and Knappy. On it, Rayne wrote her melodies and lyrics, and her producers built the track. A self-confessed “book worm,” Rayne’s lyrics come from her passion for literature. Her gift for metaphorical flair is on full display on “Don’t Stop” where she likens the bliss of dancing to the carefree purity of new love. Here, she sweetly encourages the tune’s love interest to never stop dancing as the couple segues into the uneasy, post-honeymoon phase of a romantic relationship. Simply Rayne is also not going to stop dancing as she sashays her way into the spotlight, releasing singles, building her fanbase through gigging, and attracting industry exposure with her inner light and pop-star aura. With a lot to look forward to, Rayne says she’s most excited about inspiring others to shine. She says: “If there is one thing I achieve, I hope it’s to make people feel like they can be their best selves. And I’m not afraid to be the role model that shows them they can do it all without compromising their values.”https://www.facebook.com/Rayneisintheforecast/http://www.simplyrayne.com/https://twitter.com/SimplyRayne1https://www.instagram.com/simplyrayneofficialI Am Refocused Podcast Partner:Rockafellas Barber Shop (Owner: Rico Rodriguez)1733 Babcock Rd. Crazy fun with Oscar, Grammy Nominee, Stephen Bishop. We were voyeurs in his amazing home which houses Gold and Platinum Records, the back off the guitar John Belushi smashed in Animal House––signed by the entire cast, a pic of The Beatles, signed by The Beatles; a huge painting of Hendrix, ridiculously cool stuff everywhere. Nothing cooler than Stephen, who’s written over 650 songs… say what…. he sang one of his latest, Almost Home, the theme of the new Benji Movie on Netflix, the first song he ever wrote, a song sung with his first band, The Weeds, his version of a Jagger song, the theme of Animal House, and, the song he sang in the film, plus, the Theme of Tootsie, Separate Lives, and, oh yes, On and On! Hell yeah! Plus, Blue Window, from his latest CD, Blueprint. More than a mini-concert, with stories, stories, stories… Bette, Barbra, Whitney, Clapton, good friend of both of ours, James Lee Stanley, who was the first to record a Stephen tune, Art Garfunkle, who had Stephen sing on his version of my wedding song, a great Belushi story, his manager, Robert Ellis, married to Diana Ross, who was later my boss man, his recent tour of the Philippines, which has led to an upcoming documentary, It Might be You. Links below to the trailer, to Stephen’s book, Songs in The Rough, with amazing originals of huge hit songs from amazing artists; and, to his website, where you can find the keys to his kingdom, tour info, music, and merch. Subscribe to Banging Techno Sets on iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/banging-techno-sets/id1453474812?mt=2 www.bangingtechnosets.com NAKEDPILOT In the course of a surprise goodbye-party for Bernd, Wolfgang and Felix were responsible for the musical arrangements of the night. Without further ado a computer and an old 2-Channel Mixer were set up. The NakedPilotz were born. Driven by the passion for electronic music and the magical feeling to make people dance to the music coming from their “turntables”, various first steps were made in the following years. Every free minute was used to try and test new ideas, to purchase first equipment, and to read and exchange news amongst one another. Time went by and in March 2008, after Bernd returned from his year abroad, the three were reunited. It took months until they were able to finally demonstrate their skills for the first time at the “Technotika und Sonic-Warrior DJ-Contest” on the 28th of August 2008 in the notorious Vinylbar in Frankfurt am Main. Due to the lack of experience, a 2nd place was the result of months of work. This success, however, opened them the doors to several clubs in the Rhein-Main area. It was not long until their next gig in the „U60311“ followed. Since then they have constantly continued developing their sound. In search of the perfect setup they not only altered their equipment several times, but their sound continues to evolve so that today one can speak of a unique ”Pilotz-Sound”. Today they combine a 4-Deck-Play with many live elements into an impulsive sound, which, together with their distinctive outfits, will guarantee a special experience. The rhythm of his fathers records was the background of his childhood; then things got serious when he found himself in front of his first consolle and an irrepressible musical passion took over. His orientation was progressive, as interpreted by the Tuscan movement, which took of in the Nineties. Public acclaim came in 1994, when he won an international DJ competition organized by a well-known club in Udine, which, given the success of the young DJ, asked him to continue to perform. Around that time he became a member of the staff of Radio SuperNetwork, at first as a mixing desk technician and then with his own program in which he proposed the latest innovations of his genre. Meanwhile he continued to perform in clubs all over Friuli, keeping in close contact with the public. In 1996 he left the radio and joined the famous Prima Scelta Agency for DJs in Padua, managed by Donatello, the well-known PR of the Syncopate Party; he began collaborating with the MMADESS Agency and his range of action extended over the entire Triveneto area. His first release was Dark Frequency (Mantra Vibes) in 2005. Electrorites has now founded his first record labels, Shout Records & Nightmare Factory Records. Other labels: Mekanism Records, Hybrid Confusion, Frakture Audio, Freitag Limited, Reloading Records, Crunch Control, Platinum Records, Pragmatik Recordings, Gynoid Audio, Bass Assault Records, Elektrax Recordings, iDark Records, We Call It Hard Records, Techno League Records, Darknet, ReWashed LTD, Sound Of Techno, Naughty Pills Records, Unofficial Records, Herzschlag Recordings, Foot Fetish, Plastiq, Pilbus Records, Mantra Records and many more.
