Here are the stories we covered in this weeks show: Macky:  How paranoia led to the death of a 93-year-old in Desborough - BBC News  Smee: 98% of UK mental health patients report improvement from medical cannabis - leafie Three jailed after former nightclub converted into cannabis farm - BBC News  Dr.Margaret:  Japan Health Ministry Announces Ban On Cannabinol  John: New Changes To ATF Gun Form Put Medical Marijuana Patients On The Path To Restored Second Amendment Rights (Op-Ed) We start off by covering a story showing that over 90% of people using cannabis for mental health issues say it has worked great for them. We then move on to a story claiming that cannabis-induced rage caused a man to beat his 92-year-old friend to death... even though the man had a long history of violent convictions. Guess which of those stories was covered by the mainstream media?! Margaret tells us about the banning of CBN in Japan, and we discuss how that could affect THC, considering CBN is essentially a degraded form of THC. John brings a story about changes to gun ownership forms in the USA, arguing that with cannabis being rescheduled, restrictions on medical cannabis patients may no longer be appropriate. Finally, Smee tells us about three men in the UK who have been jailed for growing cannabis. I hope you enjoy the episode! If you have any stories you would like us to cover on next weeks show, feel free to get in touch on any of your favourite networks! Thanks as always for listening, I hope you enjoy the show

Maren walks through their coffee roastery, THC/delta‑9 drinks, non‑alcoholic taps, ready‑to‑drink cocktails, Cosmic Ice Cream, and the new branding that reflects all offerings under one roof. Maren also covers hospitality challenges, running a taproom, production logistics, and how craft beverage experiences are curated from menu presentation to team training. The episode includes quick segments—favorite beers and guilty pleasures, situational beers, rapid‑fire “six pack” questions, and upcoming events like LA Beer Fest. Tune in for a lively behind‑the‑scenes look at building community, creativity, and resilience in today's beverage world.

This week on the Hemp Show we meet Sully Sullivan. He's the new executive director at the National Hemp Association — and what a time to be taking the helm of a hemp association. So much is up in the air right now. What about the November federal deadline that will ban most hemp-derived THC products, from gummies and beverages to most full-spectrum CBD? Yeah, it's just sort of hanging out there, flapping in the breeze. What's going to happen? Will there be an extension? Will there be new legislation? How will all this play out? No one knows just yet. Sully Sullivan is aware he has his work cut out for him as the new director of the NHA. "I feel like we're at a precipice right now, or a crossroads perhaps, where we are, as a country, getting the regulations right," he said. He sees what he calls "fracturedness" in the industry and the cacophony of voices in the advocacy space. "There's a lot of voices and some are saying the same thing. Some are saying different things. Some things don't match up at all," he said. For over a decade, Sullivan has been active in hemp policy in his home state of Arizona as a leader of the Hemp Industry Trade Association of Arizona, so he's no stranger to conflict, hard conversations and compromise. "I feel all of my work over the last 10 years is coalescing right now," he said. "Like this is what it was all for. This all has manifested for this moment. So I take it very seriously, and it's almost spiritual in a sense. I am in the right place at the right time. I'm the person to fill these shoes and help push this industry forward." Winning as the jurors' trustworthy & entertaining tourguide- Donald Ramsell

Send us Fan MailJurors and others do not get persuaded by brute force, badgering nor begging. Often a criminal defense or other trial lawyer obtains traction by putting themselves in the shoes of the thirteenth juror. When my teacher Gerry Spence was on his road to obtaining an acquittal for Geoffrey Fieger, he reportedly one day walked along the jury rail sweeping his palm alongside its top, as if erasing the barrier between him and the jurors.  Fairfax criminal lawyer Jon Katz's guest on this Beat the Prosecution podcast episode is Wheaton, Illinois, DUI defense lawyer Donald Ramsell. Don does not have the winning charisma of Gerry Spence, but charisma is not mandatory to persuade jurors, as demonstrated time and again by my teacher Steve Rench, who incorporated methodology into winning. Steve was the yin to Gerry's yang, with both at the Trial Lawyers College for at least its first three years. Don synthesizes that methodology with a singleminded drive for knowing and incorporating the essential science, evidence, law, and the persuasive tasks at hand. Don fashions himself as the entertaining tourguide, showing the jurors the path to help them fulfill their oaths, and hopefully delivering an acquittal. Don paints the counterpoint of the uninteresting prosecutor attempting to dissuade the jury from the reasonable doubt that bombards the courtroom walls. Listen as Don talks about a police employee who retired to his home's basement -- rather than a sterile lab -- disastrously to manufacture the simulator solution control mechanism for breathalyzer machines, and how he successfully stymied the blood THC testing regime in Illinois. Don aptly talks about letting judges know that when they do not rule sensibly on the law, Don appeals often enough that they may get reversed. Plenty of Don's appeals are pro bono, to advance legal arguments that will assist his other clients. To boot, Don -- like so many of his National College for DUI Defense colleagues -- generously shares his know-how and wisdom with DUI defense colleagues. Through that generosity, I met Don when I attended an NCDD-sponsored training for lawyers on administering field sobriety testing to subjects who have consumed alcohol, with the teaching led by Anthony Pallacios, one of the nation's leading instructors of FSTs to police officers. Don obtains acquittals in his conservative jurisdiction in part by appealing to jurors' belief in our nation's criminal justice system, which of course includes the presumption of innocence and the burden of the prosecution to prove a criminal defendant's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Don talks persuasively as just folks, and as the real McCoy. This podcast with Fairfax, Virginia criminal / DUI lawyer Jon Katz is playable on all devices at podcast.BeatTheProsecution.com. One of the hottest beer companies in the U.S., along with a budding THC-infused beverage entrepreneur, join the latest edition of the Brewbound Podcast in back-to-back interviews.   Garage Beer owner Andy Sauer shares upcoming plans for the fast-growing lager brand, including the introduction of Home Depot-style buckets and stubby bottles.    Garage Beer is riding a growth wave, posting 193% year-over-year gains in 2025, to 220,000 barrels of beer. Garage ranked as the 12th-largest craft brewery last year, but the company has intentionally kept "craft" out of its messaging.    Sauer discusses striking the balance in marketing with celebrity owners Jason and Travis Kelce and some of the more off-the-wall campaigns the brand has deployed through its writer's room approach to marketing.    But first, Julie Rhodes, co-founder of THC-infused beverage brand Kick Fizz, explains how she's preparing for the federal government's November ban of most THC drinks.    Rhodes, who also runs consulting firm Not Your Hobby Marketing Solutions, digs into creating an occasion-focused brand, the misconceptions about infused beverages and the challenges small producers face at retail.    Before the interviews, Justin, Jess and Zoe discuss the Brewers Association's 2025 production data release. They discuss the top 10 brands that posted growth last year and jockeying among them.

Send us Fan MailThe fastest way to ruin a good edible is to treat it like a mystery. One night you “feel nothing,” take another piece, and regret it later. Another night you take a normal dose and the couch eats your entire plan. That roller coaster is not a character flaw, it's the slow feedback loop of cannabis edibles: digestion, liver metabolism, and a long delay between what you ate and what you feel.We walk through what tracking your doses actually teaches you, and why a simple edibles journal can replace guesswork with real confidence. I break down the few data points that matter on the making side (your cannabis, estimated THC/CBD potency, decarboxylation, infusion notes, dose per serving) and on the consuming side (time, dose, what you ate, stress, sleep, onset time, intensity, duration). When those notes stack up over weeks, patterns pop out: the empty stomach trap, your personal onset window, and the surprising way exhaustion or stress can make a familiar dose feel heavier. We also talk tools without gatekeeping: a plain notebook, a dedicated edibles journal, phone notes, cannabis tracking apps, or even spreadsheets if you love them. The system matters more than the format, so I share practical habit tips like tracking immediately, keeping your tool where the edibles live, accepting incomplete notes, and doing a monthly review to spot trends. If you want more predictable THC edibles, less overdoing it, and a clearer sense of what actually works in your body, hit play. Subscribe, share this with an edibles-loving friend, and leave a review so more people can dose smarter.Support the show Visit the website for full show notes, free dosing calculator, quiz, recipes and more.

Ian Jessop interviews William Angolia about his 1985 construction site accident, subsequent chronic migraines and blindness, and his recovery through cannabis use. A falling sprinkler pipe caused blunt force trauma, a detached retina, permanent blindness in the right eye, and daily debilitating migraines that left William bedridden and unable to work for three years. Prescribed pharmaceuticals, including morphine-level medications, provided insufficient relief and prevented William from holding a full-time job. In 1988, a fellow patient suggested cannabis for migraines; William researched it, found documented evidence that THC lowers eye pressure in head trauma patients, and began smoking a couple of joints daily. Within three and a half weeks of starting cannabis and stopping pharmaceuticals, William experienced his first full migraine-free day, followed by weeks, months, and then years without significant headaches. Rehabilitation also addressed the practical challenges of monocular vision — learning to turn left instead of right, choosing seating positions at events, and compensating for the right-side blind spot. William became a cannabis legalization activist, sharing his story across the Northeast and contributing to Washington D.C.'s Initiative 71 in 2010, which he helped see through to fruition. Arbitrary THC blood-level thresholds (e.g., 0.04 microns) used to define impairment are flawed — no scientific test exists to determine actual cannabis impairment, meaning regular users can be convicted of DUI without being impaired. A pre-travel abstinence period before visiting Malaysia highlighted that stopping cannabis caused migraines to return, reinforcing its ongoing therapeutic role. Doctors in Thailand confirmed they had no pharmaceutical equivalent that could match cannabis for William's pain relief, and none discouraged its continued use. Cannabis access in Thailand is becoming more restrictive despite its 6,000-year history as an herb, driven by government desire for control within the monarchy. William advocates strongly for the right to home-grow, offering free grow classes and teaching tincture, oil, and extraction methods to reduce dependence on heavily taxed dispensary products. Replenishing the endocannabinoid system with cannabinoids allows the body to heal itself naturally — William argues this is straightforward science that pharmaceuticals and poor lifestyle choices undermine. Beyond migraines, William credits cannabis and healthy living for avoiding major health issues, surviving heavy COVID-era exposure, and managing hip pain without any pharmaceutical pain medication at age 69. Gratitude centers on being alive, self-sufficient, and healthy — with strong family longevity (mother lived to 99) and a goal of another 20 years — while his father's early death at 59 from lung cancer reinforced his lifelong commitment to avoiding bodily pollutants. Send us Fan MailThis week, as the summer starts, the federal government escalated its actions against the cannabis industry on multiple fronts, signaling a new era of enforcement and compliance pressure. We break down the "Federal War" that is separating the legal operators from the illicit market, and what the rapid pace of change—from rescheduling to tax clawbacks—means for every business and consumer in the cannabis space.1Here's what we cover in this educational episode on cannabis law, policy, and business:The 280E Tax Clawback: The DOJ files the first-ever lawsuit to claw back an $8.3 million 280E refund from MSO TerrAscend, sending a clear warning shot to all operators who have filed for refunds.1DEA's "Operation Weed Out": Federal task forces are turning hard toward the unlicensed market, with DEA-led raids shutting down illegal dispensaries in New York. The throughline: the line between who gets a buildout and who gets a raid is a state license.1The DEA's Rescheduling Showdown: The comment window for the expedited Schedule III hearing closes this week, and we discuss the urgency for industry participation and what a full plant reschedule means for 280E and research.1Virginia's Legalization Stalls: Governor Spanberger vetoes the adult-use market bill again, five years after possession was legalized, leaving the illicit market to thrive and eat up potential state revenue.1The TSA Policy Change: The Transportation Security Administration quietly updates its 'What Can I Bring?' page regarding medical marijuana, reflecting the DEA's Schedule III reclassification and the ripple effect on everyday life.1Cannabis Safety for Seniors: Stanford Medicine experts lay out 5 crucial risks older adults must consider, especially as a federal judge clears the path for Medicare's hemp/CBD coverage pilot.1The Rogue Crime Lab: In Illinois, a flawed THC testing method at a crime lab led to a marijuana DUI case being dropped, tainting over 2,000 cases nationally and challenging the reliability of per se THC DUI limits.1Final Thought: The contrast between the federal "gas pedal" and the state "brake" is the whole show. Rescheduling is prospective and uneven, rewarding the operators who built on compliance instead of loopholes. The winners in 2026 are the ones reading the fine print.1LINKS & RESOURCESNewsletter (free, spicy, actually useful): bit.ly/3VEn9vu1Sponsor — Collateral Base: bit.ly/m/collateral-base1Sponsor — Howard Law Group (Cannabis Industry Lawyer): [cannabis industry lawyer dot com](http://cannabis industry lawyer dot com)1Merch Store: spreadshop-admin.spreadshirt.com/Legalization-News-merch/all1Support the showGet our newsletter: https://bit.ly/3VEn9vu

Dr. Mesheriakova completed her pediatrics residency at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at UCSF. She will also be a featured speaker at the Human Potential Conference. In this timely episode of Shrinks Rap, Dr. James Bramson speaks with Dr. Veronika Mesheriakova about the growing mental health and addiction crisis facing today's teens. Together, they explore the rise of high-potency cannabis, fentanyl exposure, vaping, and polysubstance use among adolescents—many of whom appear outwardly “fine” while quietly struggling emotionally.Dr. Mesheriakova explains how today's cannabis differs dramatically from earlier generations, with higher THC concentrations linked to anxiety, depression, psychosis risk, emotional dysregulation, and addiction in developing brains. The conversation also examines the growing danger of fentanyl contamination in counterfeit pills and recreational drugs, making experimentation increasingly life-threatening.The episode highlights practical ways parents can approach teens without escalating shame, secrecy, or power struggles around substances and screen time. Dr. Mesheriakova emphasizes the importance of family involvement, the role medications can play in treatment, and how recovery ultimately depends on helping adolescents reconnect with hope, purpose, belonging, and a future worth showing up for. The conversation balances science, compassion, and humor—because parenting teenagers sometimes requires both evidence-based care and an excellent breathing practice.Credits:River is High, Ticketless TravelerCarl Reisman, guitar, singer, and songwriterJenny Goodwine, vocalsJames Singleton, bassJohnny Vidocovich, drumsDave Easley, steel guitarProduced by Morgan Orion Reismanfor more information, carlreisman@gmail.comCopyright 2025WCMI networking group A networking group for mindfulness-focused clinicians dedicated to learning together & collaborating for more information click here

Purpose of the episode: Jeff Krajnak, a combat veteran, shares how medical cannabis helped him reduce opioid dependency and how THC metabolite laws led to criminal charges despite no impairment. Military service with the Navy Seabees and SEAL teams in Iraq and Afghanistan left Jeff with severe PTSD, fibromyalgia, and ankylosing spondylitis, resulting in a medical discharge in December 2013. Post-discharge, Jeff was consuming 11 opioid and psychiatric pills daily, drinking a bottle of vodka a day, and described himself as detached, suicidal, and hospitalized in a psych ward for eight days. Switching to medical cannabis — an indica strain for sleep and a CBD cream for pain — allowed Jeff to reduce from 11 pills to just one, and eventually quit opioids entirely. A 2017 car accident occurred when another driver ran a red light; Jeff and his son were uninjured, he cooperated with police, passed three field sobriety tests, and showed no signs of impairment. Despite every officer on scene testifying he was not impaired, Jeff was arrested 32 days later by a SWAT team due to THC metabolites in his blood — 4 nanograms active, 40 nanograms metabolite — exceeding Nevada's 2-nanogram legal limit. Charges included two felony B counts — felony DUI resulting in death and felony child neglect — carrying a potential 16–20 year prison sentence. Jeff accepted an Alford plea to felony reckless driving and misdemeanor DUI; the judge acknowledged he was not impaired but stated the law left her no choice. Probation terms banned cannabis use, forcing Jeff back onto 22 pills daily — highlighting the legal contradiction that allows high-dose opioid use while prohibiting medical cannabis. Nevada's 2-nanogram THC limit dates to 1999 and is based on a 1986–87 study measuring residual THC in reckless drivers' urine — not impairment — making it scientifically unsound. THC can remain in blood for weeks in chronic users, and up to 90 days depending on testing method and consumption type, meaning the legal limit bears no relationship to actual impairment. Other states apply higher or more flexible standards — California, Washington, and Colorado allow 5 nanograms with rebuttal options, and Michigan does not prosecute medical patients — contrasting sharply with Nevada's near-zero-tolerance approach. Jeff advocates for impairment-based DUI laws rather than residual THC thresholds, arguing that trained Drug Recognition Experts can assess actual impairment without relying on metabolite levels. As president of the Coalition for Patient Rights, Jeff is pushing for federal cannabis de-scheduling — arguing Schedule 3 is insufficient — and working with NORML, MPP, and other organizations to advance legislative reform. Farm to Flow: Trace Femcare and the Future of Hemp Fiber Tampons

This week on the Hemp Show, Claire Crunk returns. She is the founder of Trace Femcare, the worlds first hemp fiber tampon. Her first appearance on the podcast was in 2023. Her company was just a few weeks away from their initial product launch. All they were waiting for was final approval from the FDA. She assumed then that things would be easier than they ultimately turned out to be. On this episode we find out what happened with the FDA and how the agency's request for an additional study was a major setback for Trace. What the FDA wanted from Trace was an exhaustive extraction study and mass spectrometry analysis, which would take 12 months and cost 150 thousand dollars. "So that's 12 additional months of operating expenses of runway added to the company as well. So it's not just a hundred and fifty thousand dollars. It becomes, you know, four hundred thousand dollars," Crunk said. Ultimately, the company could not overcome the burden and Trace was forced to sell its assets. The story of Trace and Claire's battle with FDA is one of the story lines in the documentary film One Plant, which has finished production and is seeking a distribution channel now. But when the film ends, the Trace story remains unresolved. "But the story never actually ends. It just melts and changes," said Crunk. "There's just been a lot of reckoning in my life and I've changed in different ways and, you know, understand now what it means to have grace through failure and to figure out what to take forward from that." There was great interest in the company's assets among in the feminine hygiene space. "There were these big entities that are on shelf at every retailer that you could ever go to who were very interested in picking us up and did some due diligence on it," Crunk said. This was at the time when the new Trump administration was imposing tariffs all around the world. "There was a lot of uncertainty in the absorbent hygiene world because it is a globalized supply chain." A Blessing in Disguise Because of how the sale of the assets was structured, Crunk had no say in who bought the company. She was pleasantly surprised when 1937 International showed interest and ultimately made the acquisition. "1937 International is a fairly new US entity that is working very diligently in a joint venture with groups in Pakistan to set up hemp fiber ecosystems in Pakistan. And you know, Pakistan is globally renowned for textile production, fiber knowledge, fiber production. Fiber agronomy," she said. Ryan Zaczynski, co-founder of 1937 International, was a guest on the Hemp Show this past March, and his fellow co-founder Nick Furlong was featured on our episode from the Industrial Hemp International conference. Crunk said that part of 1937 International's vision "is to have hemp fiber win across categories and across the world."  This development was more than Crunk could hope for. "It turned it from a grief process and what felt like something being taken away from me to I am so excited to take Trace from my hands and put it in somebody else's hands because of these people," she said. "I feel really lucky and also I feel really lucky that they want me to be along for the ride. So, you know, there's a lot of things to be thankful for." All that and more. This conversation picks up where the film leaves off, tracing what happened after the cameras stopped rolling. Claire walks through the regulatory fight at the heart of Trace's story: how the FDA initially flagged cannabinoids as its only concern, then reversed course months later and demanded an exhaustive chemical extraction study and mass spectrometry analysis — a $150,000, year-long process on par with the testing required for implants and high-risk medical devices. She describes the double standard she felt when the FDA later ran its own lower-standard tampon study following a Columbia and UC Berkeley report that found heavy metals in dozens of tampon brands already on the market. The result, Claire notes, is that Trace became "the most tested tampon in history" — a product more rigorously vetted than the tampons people have used for generations. The conversation also explores the surprising shape of Trace's earliest customer base, the role of consumer consent and transparency in period care, and Claire's personal journey through business failure, healing, and reinvention. She explains how Trace's assets were acquired by 1937 International, a US company building hemp fiber supply chains in Pakistan in partnership with Dr. Zafar Riaz, and how Trace's original vision of regionalized, traceable "farm to flow" supply chains can scale to a global stage. Listeners who heard the earlier episode with 1937 International's Ryan Zaczynski will recognize the connection. Looking ahead, Claire describes a roadmap that extends far beyond tampons — pads, wellness products, wound care, bandages, kinesiology tape, pet products, and even hemp fiber geotextiles for construction sites. The episode also features three news nuggets covering Panda Biotech's hemp fiber partnership in India, Cornell AgriTech's new low-THC fiber cultivar Ursa Alta, and Shah Hemp Inno-Ventures' large-scale hempcrete care home project in Meerut, India. It's a wide-ranging look at hemp fiber's expanding role across textiles, medicine, construction, and sustainable manufacturing — and Claire's remarkable story of grace through failure and reinvention.

Send us Fan MailYour body has a built-in system designed to work with cannabinoids, and once you understand it, edibles make a lot more sense. We're talking about the endocannabinoid system (ECS): what it is, why scientists only officially identified it in the 1990s, and how it quietly regulates mood, pain modulation, sleep cycles, appetite, memory, and immune function in the background every day. If you've ever felt like cannabis “randomly” hits differently, the ECS is a big part of that story. We walk through the ECS in plain language: the endocannabinoids your body makes (including anandamide and 2-AG), the CB1 and CB2 receptors they bind to, and the enzymes that build and break these compounds down. From there, we connect the dots to THC and CBD, why THC-heavy use can drive CB1 receptor downregulation, and why a tolerance break can bring your sensitivity back online. If you use cannabis edibles, you'll also hear why metabolism matters, including the role of the liver and 11-hydroxy-THC.Then we get timely: summer. Heat, circulation changes, dehydration, and even increased outdoor activity can all shift how your ECS behaves, which can change edible onset, intensity, and duration even when your dose stays the same. We close with practical, harm-reducing tips for better dosing: start lower, hydrate early, eat a real meal, and use precise dosing if you make edibles at home.If this helped you see cannabis through a clearer scientific lens, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs the ECS explained, and leave a review so more curious people can find the show.Support the show Visit the website for full show notes, free dosing calculator, quiz, recipes and more.

Linear Light Scaling: The direct relationship between light intensity and flower yield scaling all the way up to 1,800 micromoles under ambient CO2. The UV Reality Check: Why modern high-THC genetics actually showed a decrease in final cannabinoid and terpene content under supplemental UVA and UVB. This week we sparked up Black Maple from Dragonfly, and right out of the jar… yeah, the name tracks.Dark, sweet, maple syrup vibes. Not the fake pancake syrup from childhood. We're talking the thick, rich, Costco real-maple kind that makes you question every breakfast decision you've made before now.Black Maple comes in as a true hybrid bred from Dulce de Uva x Sherbanger, and this one hit interesting. For us, the effects came on pretty head-first. Forehead, temples, behind the eyes, that “okay I definitely feel this” pressure, but without tipping into couch-lock territory. It had some lift thanks to the pinene presence, but didn't fully commit to being an energetic daytime strain either.Basically? It lives in that weird middle ground.Top terpenes:Beta-CaryophylleneLimoneneAlpha-PineneBeta-PineneCannabinoid profile included trace amounts of:Delta-9 THC, THCV-A, CBG, CBC-A, CBD-A, and CBG-ATranslation? More going on than just “big THC number go brrrr.”And honestly… that became part of the conversation.Because somewhere in this episode we started talking about how chasing the highest THC is still one of the dumbest shopping habits in cannabis.Black Maple wasn't bad. Not even close. It looked great.Smelled fantastic.Flavor was solid.Effects got better as it settled in.But compared to some strain combos we've mixed lately? It felt like this one might actually shine more as a pairing strain than a solo act.Which led us down a whole rabbit hole of cannabis blending, terp stacking, entourage effect conversations, and whether more people should be intentionally mixing strains instead of always hunting the newest hype jar.Best reported tendencies from this one?HappyRelaxedFocusedMild pain reliefWould we smoke it again? Yeah.Would we reach for it over some of our favorite custom combos? Probably not.But if you've had Black Maple from a different grower or batch, your mileage may absolutely vary because cannabis is wildly batch-dependent.Keep the Mic on.Fuel the movement. Keep the conversation going. We keep a running list of tools and brands we personally enjoy and actually use.Find everything in one place here:

Contributor: Travis Barlock, MD Educational Pearls:   Endocannabinoid System: THC binds CB1 and CB2 receptors in neurons and immune cells Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis CB1 and CB2 receptors typically bind endogenously-produced 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) and anandamide (AEA) to regulate pain, stress, and inflammation THC similarly binds CB1 and CB2, leading to the cannabinoid high: euphoria, paranoia, anxiety, analgesia, anti-inflammation, and appetite, among a variety of others Ingestion via edibles, vice inhalation via smoking, leads to chemical modification of Δ9-THC to 11-hydroxy-Δ9-THC, which more easily crosses the blood-brain barrier and binds CB1 with higher affinity, leading to increased psychoactivity   Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS): Chronic THC use leading to the classic presentation of persistent nausea and intense, frequent vomiting Chronic activation of CB1 receptors in brain builds a tolerance and dependence on THC, in addition to chronic activation of the capsaicin and vanilloid receptor TRPV1, which binds capsaicin or is activated by heat Treatment by warm showers works due to TRPV1 activation by heat Treated with benzodiazepines, fluids, and gastro-intestinal or central nervous system agents according to patient presentation   Over 200 synthetic cannabinoids have been created (K2, spice, black mamba, mojo, etc), which are more dangerous and can lead to a variety of etiologies   Acetaminophen binds CB1 receptors to reduce inflammatory pain   References Loganathan P, Gajendran M, Goyal H. 2023 was a sea-change year for several craft breweries who underwent leadership changes. Lawson's Finest Liquids and Rhinegeist Brewery were among the companies who underwent CEO transitions that year.    Lawson's CEO Adeline Druart and Rhinegeist CEO Adam Bankovich discuss entering Year 3 of their respective tenures at the top of those companies in separate featured interviews on the latest edition of the Brewbound Podcast.   In the first conversation, Druart dives into the "ongoing conversation" at the Vermont brewery of "what makes a Lawson's Finest beer a Lawson's Finest beer" and defines what makes a Sunshine brand.   "Really for us, it's IPAs – clear IPAs using Citra hops, and with a very bold flavor profile," she said. "The more conversations we have like those – defining who we are, the more I'd say clear we are moving forward what's on brand, what's off brand."   Druart also discusses the impact of Lawson's community giving programs, accelerating business by moving distribution to Baker Distributing in its home state, the launch of Hop Wired hazy and juicy IPA and much more.   Then, Bankovich explores the anniversary of launching the Cincinnati craft brewery's first NA beer line Ghost, with new offerings to follow. He also explains why launching Fuzzy Bones, a sparkling THC drink, has been a challenging and educational "crash course," following Ohio's ban on intoxicating hemp beverages.   Fuzzy Bones launched in six states, with three additional states expected to follow. Rhinegeist is "trying to stay nimble with it," as a federal ban looms in November.    "I wish that our government officials could learn enough from the past to act quickly because this industry developed so quickly, seemingly out of nowhere," he said. "We just really need a chance to not fall into the trap of Prohibition and instead write proper regulation now and in real time as consumers want these products instead of prohibiting them for years and years and years."   Bankovich also dishes on Rhinegeist's daily hospitality efforts to make guest experiences' special, the growth of the company's core Truth and Cincy Light brand families and several expedited new additions: Half Truth session IPA, limited-time summer offering Cincy Light Watermelon and Sea Salt and Cincy Vodka Soda, the company's first spirit-based offering.   Before the interviews, the Brewbound team reviews that latest news, including: A recent Bump Williams Consulting report on long-tail craft brands finding success; Leadership changes at the American Cider Association; And Boston Beer's 15% ABV Lytt beyond beer creation in glow-in-the-dark, lightbulb-shaped 6.8 oz. containers.

Send us Fan MailYour next good morning might already be sitting in the fridge. We're making Figgy Overnight Oats, a make ahead breakfast you can prep in about 10 minutes the night before and eat the moment you wake up. It's bright from orange zest, naturally sweet from dried figs, and hearty enough to actually keep you full. Along the way, we zoom out to the bigger cannabis wellness picture. I share why North Bloom magazine has a special place in my heart and how projects like it help shift cannabis stigma in mainstream spaces, especially as more people and more seniors look to edibles for real quality of life improvements. So many first experiences with cannabis come through friends and family, which makes clear education and responsible dosing part of the job we all share. Then we get practical: the exact ingredients, why old fashioned rolled oats matter, why walnuts wait until morning, and how to customize with blueberries, hemp hearts, yogurt, or different spices. If you want to turn this into a true cannabis edibles recipe, we talk infused honey and infused maple syrup, why THC is fat soluble, and the simple technique that helps infused sweeteners hit more reliably. Grab the recipe, try one jar tonight, and tell me what you changed. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs easier mornings, and leave a review so more curious cooks can find Bite Me.Support the show Visit the website for full show notes, free dosing calculator, quiz, recipes and more.

Connor McCrossan and his mother Tammy share their experience with Connor's brain tumour diagnosis, treatment decisions, and recovery — with a focus on cannabis as a therapeutic alternative. Connor began experiencing minor headaches and fatigue in late 2023 before travelling to Thailand in January 2024, initially managing symptoms with paracetamol without informing anyone. Symptoms worsened significantly in Chiang Mai by mid-February 2024 — severe dizziness, imbalance, violent morning sickness, and migraines — which a local Thai hospital attributed to a virus and treated with anti-dizziness medication. Connor flew home after instinct told him something was seriously wrong, enduring an 18-hour journey via Hong Kong to Manchester without disclosing the severity of his condition to Tammy. Back in the UK, Connor was repeatedly sent home by doctors despite continuous vomiting, inability to keep fluids down, and deteriorating condition over eight days. Tammy and her sister pushed persistently for an MRI scan, which hospital staff initially refused, attributing symptoms to an infectious disease in an otherwise fit 23-year-old. A partial MRI scan — completed before Connor had to press the emergency button due to projectile vomiting — revealed an abnormality, leading to a midnight transfer to neurology. Connor was told alone at 23, at midnight, that a large mass had been found on the rear of his brain; the diagnosis was later confirmed as a grade 4 medulloblastoma, a rare and aggressive tumour not seen at Preston Hospital in 14–15 years. A nine-hour surgery successfully removed the tumour, with symptoms largely vanishing within days post-operation; Connor was discharged approximately one week later. On receiving the confirmed cancer diagnosis, Connor adopted a determined mindset — responding to the neurologist's "you're not out of the woods yet" with "yes I am, because it had me against the ropes and now it's my turn." Connor declined chemotherapy due to the risk of developing leukaemia and other severe side effects, opting instead for proton beam therapy at The Christie in Manchester alongside a cannabis-based protocol. Tammy researched and introduced a cannabis suppository protocol — half a gram in the morning, half a gram at night — sourced through Corey Yelland's network, later supplemented with oral CBD and THC tinctures. Cannabis also helped Tammy manage severe anxiety developed during Connor's illness; she later identified PTSD symptoms that emerged after Connor received multiple clear scans. Connor is now fully recovered — driving, working full-time, boxing training, and completing multiple 10K runs — with little to no lasting side effects, now on six consecutive clear scans. Connor advocates strongly for cannabis as a cancer treatment, arguing patients have everything to gain and nothing to lose, and calling for its legalisation as a therapeutic option. This episode is brought to you by Kava Haven, Tailwind Nutrition and Batch. Sara Hall joins the podcast to talk about her new book For the Love of the Grind, which quickly became a New York Times bestseller. Sara has been one of the most consistent and compelling figures in American distance running, with a 2:20 marathon personal best, a fifth-place finish at the 2024 Olympic Trials, and a career defined by longevity, resilience, and a deep love for the process. In this conversation, Sara reflects on her career arc, from being the first professional athlete to say yes to this podcast back in 2016 to becoming a veteran of the sport who continues to push her limits. She shares what it has looked like to race at a high level while raising four daughters, staying grounded in her values, and following what feels most authentic to her, even when it doesn't follow a traditional path. The conversation also dives into the themes of her book, including faith, identity, motherhood, and the emotional highs and lows of a decades-long career. Sara opens up about how her beliefs have evolved over time, how she's navigated criticism, and why she chose to tell her story in her own voice. This episode is a deeper look at what it means to commit to the long game, both in running and in life, and how growth often comes through the hardest seasons. What we talked about: Writing For the Love of the Grind and telling her story in her own voice Faith, deconstruction, and evolving beliefs Growing up in a strong religious background and rethinking it as an adult Choosing which moments and races mattered most in her story The emotional weight of motherhood and pursuing elite goals Adoption journey and family dynamics Balancing ambition with presence as a parent Career longevity and gradual marathon progression The Olympic Trials and processing near-misses Super shoes era and competing across changing generations of the sport Relationships and community throughout her career Transitioning perspective from outcomes to process Media mentions:  For the Love of the Grind Love Wins Thank you to our sponsors:  BatchBatch is a Wisconsin-based wellness brand creating small-batch, science-backed CBD and THC products designed to help with stress, sleep, and overall balance.
