This one was NOT random, because we are two very big Toriyama-Stans! We were both interested in trying this Square Enix action RPG and it conveniently arrived on Xbox Game Pass. *Joe and Ethan laugh ungraciously* Those kooky boys jump into the latest in a historic RPG series. Dragon Quest is arguably one of the most popular JRPG series in Japan and certainly well known around the rest of the world, but is this 80 hour RPG worth the epic quest? Generally, yes! We discuss the characters, the narrative twists and turns, and the wicked post-game section.

The sound problems continue, while Jonah complains about not being able to live stream Dragon Quest XI; this issue is something that's frustrated PlayStation, PC and Switch gamers for the past few years, and there doesn't seem to be a reason why the restrictions are there. I avsnitt 259 av Tredje Gången Gillt pratar vi om Cybershoes, Resident Evil 3-remaken, Final Fantasy VII-remaken, Final Fantasy Tactics, Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, Death Stranding, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, A Robot Named Fight samt de båda Netflix-serierna Dracula och The Witcher. Trevlig helg!
«Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age» ist gut, wahrscheinlich gar sehr gut.

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. We've got the whole gang back, this time with a new video setup so Kevin, DJ, & John can look Randall in the eyes—unfortunately, there's a slight dip in audio quality thanks to the new & untested setup, but we'll have things back to normal in a couple of weeks. That said, there's nothing that will keep us from our weekly videogame gabbing, and we kick things off this week with the re-release of sorts, New Super Lucky's Tale, which we all checked out the demo for. From there, Kevin keeps the 3D platformer revival going with another new Switch release, A Hat in Time. Randall's on the retro beat again, looking at another great re-imagining of a forgotten classic, The Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors. DJ looks at a little 'reboot' of his own, with the surprisingly difficult puzzle platformer, Seeders: Puzzle Reboot. We close things out with Randall & John talking a little more Dragon Quest XI S, now that the two of them are both well on their way towards victory. Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. Kevin finishes another game, believe it or not, and digs into Anodyne with John, who is just getting into its early stages. Randall journeys back to an Elusive Age and somehow remembers the full title for Dragon Quest XI on Switch. John sticks in the realm of JRPGs and gets into the many quality of life improvements offered up in the new Remasters of the Final Fantasy series. DJ's still hanging around and hacking away in the Darkest Dungeon. And, to no one's surprise at all, Kevin's playing another indie platformer, Bomb Chicken.

Spill vi snakker om i episode 10: Steins;Gate, Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow, Octopath Traveler, Mega Man Legacy Collection, Mega Man X Legacy Collection, Celeste, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy IX, Grandia 2, Wild Arms 3, Chrono Trigger, Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2, Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Tales of Symphonia, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Destiny 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, Persona 4, Persona 5, Warframe, Fortnite, Uncharted 1-3, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Red Dead Redemption II, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Assassin's Creed Origin, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Star Wars: Battlefront II, No More Heroes, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, Star Fox Adventures, Too Human, Lego Hobbit, Lego Lord of the Rings, Super Smash Bros. After calamity struck the citizens of Xanthia found themselves frozen in time, statues of flesh and blood strewn about the citadel and the marketplace and the homes and the stables. Outside the walls of the Great City, denizens of the countryside found their lives mostly unchanged, save for a harsh and ominous wind that brought with it the same recurring nightmares. Each morning the farmers would gather in their halls and confirm amongst themselves that yes, they’d all shared the same horrid dream: A dark force, twelve ancient crystals, and a power unholy to wrest them from their plot within Xanthia’s royal vaults. Most resigned to their fate whole-cloth, prepared themselves and their homes for the incoming havoc. But one brave soul stood apart from the rest, one timeless adventurer rejected the nightmares of the wind and decided to take up arms against the spectral dark. Yep that’s right gang, it’s Dragon Quest XI, and this time QBert is in it. Games Discussed: Dragon Age XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, Steep, Nier Automata

It’s described as “a euphoric music video dream about being awesome, riding motorcycles, skateboarding, dance battling, shooting lasers, wielding swords, and breaking hearts at 200mph.” That sounds quite promising.Image: Epic Games 0:27:24 EPIC LAUNCHES ITS STEAM COMPETITOR Epic made a big splash earlier this year when it announced it would be opening a digital storefront for PC and Mac games to compete with Valve’s Steam. Just two days later, that store is now live, with a surprise launch during the Game Awards with a slate of high-profile indie titles, including Annapurna Interactive and A44’s Ashen, old hits like Super Meat Boy, and newer titles like Darksiders 3. 0:28:45 ASHEN IS OUT NOW FOR XBOX ONE AND PC Ashen has been more than four years in the making, having first been announced as an Xbox console exclusive back in 2014. The fantasy adventure game, which looks to be inspired by Dark Souls and Team Ico classics, is from developer A45 and published by Annapurna’s game development arm. It’s out now with a surprise launch on both the Xbox One and Epic’s new game store. 0:29:25 JOURNEY MAKES ITS PC DEBUT ON EPIC’S NEW STORE Thatgamecompany’s Journey became an instant indie classic when it released on the PlayStation 3 in 2012. The game’s mystic narrative, stunning visuals, and ingenious multiplayer element that paired players with silent, anonymous strangers over the internet made it a truly transcendent experience gaming hadn’t seen before. Prior to today, it’s been a PlayStation exclusive, having only been ported to the PlayStation 4 in the years since. Now, it’s going to be available on PC for the very first time through Epic’s new store sometime next year. 0:30:22 SUPERGIANT GAMES’ NEWEST TITLE IS CALLED HADES Supergiant Giant became an indie darling with its isometric, action role-playing game Bastion, which became a huge fixture of the Xbox 360 era of indie games when it came out in 2011. Since then, Supergiant released the similar cyberpunk game Transistor, and it later switched gears with a bizarre and fascinating fantasy take on basketball called Pyre. Now, the company appears to be going back to its roots. The new game is called Hades, and it looks like you’ll be fighting your way through the underworld in Transistor style. The game is available now in early access from Epic’s game store for $19.99. 0:31:15 THE NEXT FAR CRY GAME IS A POST-APOCALYPTIC SEQUEL TO FAR CRY 5 One of the highest-profile trailers to air during the Game Awards officially took the wraps off Far Cry: New Dawn, Ubisoft’s next installment in the open-world series. Set after the events of Far Cry 5, in which villain Joseph Seed sets off a nuclear bomb, New Dawn looks to feature a drastic change in tone and style. The good news is the game is coming soon — be it comes out on February 15th for $39.99 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. 0:35:12 NINTENDO GETS A MARVEL EXCLUSIVE WITH THE BLACK ORDER The Switch’s first Marvel exclusive is a new title from Ninja Gaiden and Nioh developer Team Ninja called Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. That’s a platform-developer combination we haven’t seen 2010’s Metroid: Other M, and it should have Marvel-loving Switch owners very excited. 0:38:55 OBISDIAN’S NEWEST GAME IS CALLED THE OUTER WORLDS The RPG legends at Obsidian Entertainment have a new game coming out called The Outer Worlds featuring intergalactic travel and all manner of sci-fi technology. Having become a major force in the genre through Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Fallout: New Vegas, and Pillars of Eternity, Obsidian has been a carrier of the traditional RPG flame for years now. Now, it looks like The Outer Worlds will be all-new territory for the studio. 0:41:36 THE CREATORS OF NO MAN’S SKY HAVE A NEW GAME COMING CALLED THE LAST CAMPFIRE Developer Hello Games has been hard at work turning No Man’s Sky into one of the most ambitious and expansive exploration games ever made. But with The Last Campfire, Hello and studio head Sean Murray are taking a more intimate and carefully animated approach to storytelling, inspired by Pixar shorts. 0:43:45 MORTAL KOMBAT 11 ANNOUNCED There’s a new Mortal Kombat on the way, and it looks just as gruesome as ever. Unfortunately that’s about all we know about Mortal Kombat 11, which was revealed on-stage at the awards show. But it shouldn’t be long before we find out: the game is launching on April 23rd, with a proper reveal event on January 17th. 0:45:44 A NEW DRAGON AGE IS ON THE WAY After showing off a story trailer for Anthem, BioWare made sure to let fans know that its fantasy role-playing series is still alive as well. The developer showed off the briefest of teasers for the next Dragon Age; so brief, in fact, we don’t even know the proper title or when it’s coming out. FORTNITE HIGHLIGHTS PLAYER CREATIONS ON THE BLOCK Not content with launching a new season and a creative mode, Fortnite developer Epic also decided to change the game’s map during The Game Awards. Risky Reels is gone, replaced by a new area called The Block, which will put a spotlight on some of the best stuff players are making. JOKER IS LOOKING COOL... IN SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE Nintendo revealed the first downloadable character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and it’s a huge surprise: Joker from Persona 5. The game isn’t even available on a Nintendo platform, but that said, the slick and stylish Joker does seem like a fun addition to the lineup. At least he’ll come with some great music. 0:53:07 And The Winners ARE!!! In this pre-recorded post-Thanksgiving episode, we finally sit down to talk about one of our favorite games of the year, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. After 100 hours apiece and many happy memories, we have both completed this epic JRPG experience, and have a lot to say about what is easily one of the genre's greatest accomplishments. We've talked about the game without spoilers a few times before, but for this episode, we go into full spoiler detail about the game's story, characters, and world. And if you're not into Dragon Quest, we also review the wonderful Creed II and discuss Kotaku's recent in-depth report about Blizzard, the development of Diablo IV, and the creation of Diablo Immortal. This episode comes to you live from the front of the line to see the very first possible screening of Detective Pikachu! (Note: the line starts wherever Zach is at anytime.). The gang put in a collective 400+ hours into Dragon Quest XI and they did not see eye-to-eye on what that journey was like at all. Conflict abounds in this episode of Good Game Great Game!Other talking points: In Memory of Stan Lee, GGGG x Detective Pikachu 5eva
There's nothing spooky in this episode, unless you find horror in two best friends devolving into an all-out slugfest over which type of 3D Mario Platformer is better. Kevin hasn't been able to leave the house yet, today, so it seems like at least someone was pretty dang shook.Other talking points: Steamed Zach, Team Real or Team Fake, The PlayStation Classic Sure Has Some Games On It, Andrew Thinks Mario Galaxy is Better Than Odyssey and Zach Insults Him Gravely Over It.Your Good Great Gang is Zach Rich, Andrew Orsie, and Kevin Ruiter.Intro / Outro Song - "We Are Here For You" by The James Rocket (thejamesrocket.bandcamp.com)Cover Art by Mitch AllisonComing up next: Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (11/14), Sypro Reignited Trilogy (11/28), Fallout 76 (12/12)Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/goodgamegreatgame)
In the nineteenth episode of Otaku Brothers, Ryan talks about his business trip to Mexico. He neglects Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow in the process, and takes quite a bit of time ranting about microtransactions in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Well, both of the guys rant about microtransactions. A lot. Rusty played more Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of the Elusive Age and also explored ancient Egypt for a few hours in Assassin’s Creed Origins. After that they dive into listener questions, talking about HD Remasters, Best Dressed Video Game Characters, and eventually, talk their most hilarious and unsettling life experiences ever. Some of the wildest stories the boys have yet shared. Finally, they delve into the main topic of the show: Gaming franchises they simply do not enjoy. Sorry Kingdom Hearts fan. That garbage should have died in the conceptual stages. Only joking! But for real, sorry Fallout fans. Enjoy! Want to get in on the discussion of the podcast, easily ask questions? Join our Discord! It's an episode full of tummy pats and beer snobbery! The Good Great Gang sits down to discuss the start of a new era for Nintendo's beloved (?) friendship destroying franchise. Plus, the story of how the gang became friends! (It involves Mario Party 7, Malibu Coconut Rum, and a night of nightmarish choices.)Other talking points: Mario is Dead, The Games of Fall, You Never Play With Me, Andrew Got Ice'd, Smario Blarty, Zach Do Not Edit This OutYour Good Great Gang is Zach Rich, Andrew Orsie, and Kevin Ruiter.Intro / Outro Song - "We Are Here For You" by The James Rocket (thejamesrocket.bandcamp.com)Cover Art by Mitch AllisonComing up next: Super Mario Odyssey (10/31), Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (11/14), Sypro Reignited Trilogy (11/28)Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/goodgamegreatgame)
In the eighteenth episode of Otaku Brothers, Rusty finally delves into Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of the Elusive Age. Ryan and Rusty proceed to talk about the game without spoilers for nearly 45 minutes. Ryan also sneakily buys a game for PS4 and shares his opinion. HINT: It’s a new release and a series both Rusty and Ryan haven’t played in years. After Game’s They’ve Been Playing Recently, the gentlemen get plenty of listener questions. From favorite TV Shows, Best Dressed Characters, to hostile work environments, things get as wild as they usually do. Perhaps even more than usual… After that they hop on plane for a one-way trip to New Zealand, only to be shortly interrupted by a combusting jet engine that forces them to land on deserted islands in the middle of nowhere. Because reasons, they were able to choose 3 video games, movies, CD’s, and books to accompany them on their journey. Robinson Crusoe approves. Enjoy! This week we talk about how little things like relentless tool tips threaten to spoil an otherwise fun adventure in Shadow of the Tomb Raider! Nolan shares his first impressions of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age as well as Frostpunk: Fall of Winterhome, a free expansion to one of his standout titles in 2018! There's also plenty of juicy news and some fun questions to answer in the 2nd segment!
It was an amazing week for video games, as Marvel's Spider-Man and Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age both launched on the PS4, and after spending an unhealthy amount of time playing as much of them as possible, we've got spoiler-free impressions of both. Jonathan gives his thoughts on the early hours of Dragon Quest, Sean sings some more praise for Yakuza Kiwami 2, and we both gush over the incredible achievement that is Insomniac's Spider-Man game. It may be the best use of a licensed character in a major video game to date, a consistently surprising, endlessly engrossing experience that goes above and beyond being the Spider-Man game of our childhood dreams. We'll have a full spoiler-filled review next week, but we keep things spoiler-free this time, so feel free to listen whether or not you've touched the game yet. Enjoy, and come back Wednesday for a special mid-week bonus podcust with our retrospective review of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3! This week the guys break down all the announcements of E3 2018 including listing the games they are most hyped about. Jason keeps interrupting everyone, Adam makes an inappropriate joke, Dave won't stop talking about Solid Snake and special guest Chris crashes the show with his own take on E3! Chris' Top 5 Games of E3 Fallout 76 Anthem Marvel's Spider-Man Gears of War 5 Super Smash Bros Ultimate Jason's Top 5 Games of E3 Marvel's Spider-Man Days Gone Fallout 76 Kingdom Hearts 3 Command and Conquer Rivals Adam's Top 5 Games of E3 Fallout 76 Elder Scrolls VI Starfield Dying Light 2 Anthom Dave's Top 5 Games of E3 Marvel's Spider-Man The Last of Us 2 CyberPunk 2077 The Sinking City(PC) Elder Scrolls Blades(mobile) Double Dribble (Bouble Dibble) The greatest N.E.S. basketball game of all time! Microsoft Steps Up Its Game With Five Studio Acquisitions The Xbox One era hasn't been kind to Microsoft. Along with a flubbed launch, Microsoft has been without the support of a vaunted exclusive lineup unlike Sony and Nintendo. So, it's encouraging to hear Phil Spencer announce five studio acquisitions. OMG A New Battletoads is Coming in 2019! Nothing was actually shown on the game, just a hype video was played but what was revealed has all the Battletoads fans salivating! What we do know is it will have three player action, 4k hand-drawn 2.5D graphics and it's an Xbox One exclusive. Chris' Best of Show Nintendo - super smash bros was huge and myself and many fans went nuts over the reveal and showing that every player is available. If it's ever been in smash it's playable. Add in a new MARIO Party and it's another nostalgia blast that I can't wait for. Plus Mario party leverages the ability to network switches and put multiple people on consoles. Finally the announce fortnite and in less than 2 days have 2 million downloads. Nintendo shared a lot of Pokémon let's go prior to the show so maybe that influences me some here. But despite no mention of Metroid I was excited by almost everything Nintendo showed off. Jason's Best of Show Even though it received a lot of negativity I think Best of Show has to be Square Enix with hit after hit of reveals including: Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy XIV X Monster Hunter World, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, Babylon's Fall, Just Cause 4, The Quiet Man and Kingdom Hearts 3. Every title looks amazing and makes me wish I had every console so I could play them all! Adam's Best of Show Bethesda Dave's Best of Show With Sony going all in on Spider-man and Last of Us 2, plus Death Stranding featuring Norman Reedus, I give the nod to Sony. But the emphasis placed on No Lootboxes from many companies was a close runner up.
