In ein paar Tagen jährt sich ein Verbrechen zum elften Mal, das mehr Leben gekostet hat als die meisten Straftaten, die hier im Podcast bisher erzählt wurden. Die Beteiligten haben für das Verbrechen keine Messer, keine Pistolen oder andere Waffen benutzt. Zu dieser Tat hat vielmehr ihre Überheblichkeit und fehlendes Verantwortungsgefühl geführt. In dieser Folge “Mordlust - Verbrechen und ihre Hintergründe” besprechen Laura und Paulina den Fall der Costa Concordia - eines der größten Schiffsunglücke unserer Zeit. Matthias und Marcel sitzen in der Bar des Kreuzfahrtschiffes, das sie sieben Tage auf eine mediterrane Rundreise geschickt hat und ihr schwimmendes Zuhause war. Morgen geht es wieder von Bord, weshalb sie an diesem Abend ihren Urlaub nochmal Revue passieren lassen wollen. Als der 38-jährige Matthias für weitere Drinks sorgen will, wird der Ozeanriese plötzlich von einem heftigen Schlag erschüttert. Kurze Zeit später heißt es über die Lautsprecher, es handele sich um einen Stromausfall. Matthias und Marcel sind nicht überzeugt. Sie machen sich auf den Weg nach draußen, um nachzuschauen, was los ist. Große Luftblasen steigen um das Kreuzfahrtschiff herum auf. Kein gutes Zeichen. Während an Bord langsam Panik ausbricht, versuchen die zwei Freunde Platz auf einem Rettungsboot zu ergattern. Vergebens. Wenig später sind sie im Inneren des Schiffs gefangen, während die Costa Concordia langsam mit Wasser vollläuft. 32 Tote, etliche Verletzte und daran soll allein der Kapitän schuld sein. Bis heute steht die Frage im Raum, ob wirklich alle Verantwortlichen zur Rechenschaft gezogen wurden. Il comandante Francesco Schettino è entrato in plancia sulla Costa Concordia da solo una decina di minuti, e di fronte alla nave si staglia nella notte oscura il profilo dell'isola del Giglio. La nave deve avvicinarsi, il comandante e l'equipaggio vogliono tributare un saluto speciale all'isola, è il momento del famigerato e oggi spaventoso inchino. L'idea è di costeggiare a breve distanza un tratto della costa dell'isola, per salutare gli abitanti dell'isola e in particolare un comandante in pensione, Palombo, che lì dovrebbe trovarsi, oltre a ringraziare con questa manovra il maitre Tievoli per il lavoro svolto a bordo. All'indomani Tievoli sarebbe sbarcato. Schettino non lo sa, ma questa manovra sta per costargli la carriera, e anche la libertà. Sta anche per costare la vita a trentadue persone. Ma quella notte avviene qualcosa di misterioso, qualcosa di assolutamente oscuro. Qualcosa che dura appena tredici secondi. Tredici secondi che cambiano il destino di più di quattromila persone. Tredici secondi che non siamo riusciti a spiegare neppure in dieci anni di ricerca.

Antes de que se cumpla una década del naufragio del Costa Concordia recordamos el episodio, tanto en su aspecto de tragedia (murieron más de 30 personas) como en su aspecto de farsa. El capitan Schettino huyó y, como nos cuenta Joan Solés, ya da nombre en Italia a quienes se largan en vez de enfrentarse a sus responsabilidades. Además, la historia del Concordia se mezcla con la del naufragio de Berlusconi, que no olvidemos que fue cantante de cruceros en su juventud. Pero no cerramos con su música, sino con la del grupo madrileño Tótem, porque su cantante, Carlos Peñacoba, viajaba a bordo del Costa Concordia en aquellos días, y es quien nos os ayuda a contar esta historia.

Donatella è napoletana e lavora come fisioterapista specializzata in riabilitazione neuro cognitiva. Ci parla di come ha vissuto la sua città e il suo ambiente di lavoro durante l’epidemia del coronavirus.
