Read OnlineLifting the Sacred VeilThe disciples approached Jesus and said, “Why do you speak to the crowd in parables?” He said to them in reply, “Because knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of heaven has been granted to you, but to them it has not been granted. To anyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; from anyone who has not, even what he has will be taken away. This is why I speak to them in parables, because they look but do not see and hear but do not listen or understand.” Matthew 13:10–13Have you ever looked but failed to truly see? Or heard something without really listening or understanding? Jesus' words teach us that seeing is more than the use of our eyes, and listening is more than the mere act of hearing. The mysteries of the Kingdom are not grasped through sensory perception; they require a deeper interior awareness. Seeing, listening, and understanding demand a receptive heart—a heart attuned to grace.When the heart is attuned to grace, the mind becomes capable of perceiving life from God's perspective. This is the gift of Wisdom. Wisdom is the pinnacle of the intellectual gifts, perfecting knowledge, understanding, and counsel by ordering them toward divine truth. Thus, a person who truly sees and listens perceives, not just information, but God's Eternal Truth. The veil is lifted, and the mysteries of faith come into focus. This interior illumination produces peace, amazement, and a profound sense of gratitude.Parables are like sacred veils, at once concealing and revealing divine mysteries. For those who are humble, docile to the Holy Spirit, and eager for truth, parables become radiant windows into the heart of God. They are like floodgates, pouring divine light into the soul and drawing it to the very threshold of eternal mysteries. Does the floodgate of divine light pour truth into your mind and grace into your will?For the proud or indifferent, however, the veil remains drawn—but not without purpose. Jesus does not arbitrarily withhold the divine mysteries from those whose hearts are hardened. Rather, the parable, in veiling the truth, invites the soul to seek more deeply. It stirs a holy curiosity and awakens spiritual desire. It is as if Jesus presents a sacred gift, wrapped in a beautiful veil. He sets it down, says, “This is for you, but don't peek,” and then smiles and walks away. The hiddenness of the truth is not a rejection; it is an invitation.Even before this moment, Jesus had already begun to lift the veil. In the Parable of the Sower, just preceding today's Gospel, He cast seed upon the hearts of His listeners. Some received it attentively, understood it, and were filled with interior consolation as divine light shone within them. Others might have enjoyed the story and found it interesting, but failed to grasp its deeper meaning. Of these, Jesus quotes the prophet Isaiah, saying, in part: “Gross is the heart of this people, they will hardly hear with their ears, they have closed their eyes…” (Matthew 13:15).“Gross is the heart of this people…”—what a powerful statement. The Greek word translated here as “gross” is not condescending but descriptive. More literally, it means that the heart of the people “has become dull,” “has thickened,” or “has grown insensitive.” Jesus is not condemning; He is lamenting. And even in His lament, He does not give up hope. He continues to teach. He offers the Parable of the Sower, and then, after today's Gospel, teaches several more parables. Why? Because He is determined to sow the seed of His Word into every heart—no matter how hard the soil may be.Reflect today on the disposition of your own heart. Are you truly open to the deeper truths of God? Do you seek to understand, or are you content merely to hear? Ask the Lord to lift the sacred veil from your eyes and ears so that you may behold the mysteries of His Kingdom with clarity and awe. Let His Word penetrate your soul like seed falling on rich soil. And if you discover areas of dullness or resistance within, do not be discouraged. Christ continues to sow generously. All He asks is that you receive His Word with humility and allow it to take root.Lord of Eternal Truth, You desire to lift the veil and reveal to me the profound and glorious Mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven. Please give me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart open to understanding. Flood me with the light of Your Truth and strengthen me to respond to that Truth with all my being. Day 2910 – Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 145:1-7 Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2908 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2910 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. The Title for today's Wisdom-Trek is: The Unsearchable Majesty – Passing the Torch of Praise Across Generations On our previous expedition, on Day Two Thousand Nine Hundred Eight, we concluded our study of Psalm One Hundred Forty-Four with a breathtaking vision of kingdom flourishing. We listened as King David moved out of the smoky, chaotic fray of battle, praying for sturdy sons, elegant daughters, overflowing barns, and safe city streets, crowning his prayer with that unforgettable, majestic beatitude: “Joyful indeed are those whose God is the Lord!” Today, as we step onto a glorious new summit along our multi-month trek through the Book of Psalms, we advance directly into Psalm One Hundred Forty-Five, verses one through seven. This psalm marks a monumental milestone in our entire series. It is the very last psalm in the Psalter explicitly attributed to King David, and it functions as a grand, royal gateway into the final doxology of the Old Testament. In the preceding psalms—from Psalm One Hundred Forty through One Hundred Forty-Four—we heard David crying out in intense distress, begging for rescue from violent men, hidden nets, and deceptive tongues. But here, in Psalm One Hundred Forty-Five, the prayers for deliverance fall silent, and pure, uninhibited, kingdom praise takes center stage. David lays down his military sword, picks up his golden harp, and leads the entire cosmos in an eternal song of adoration. The first segment is: The Vow of the Viceroy: Exalting the Supreme King Let us open our hearts to the opening lines of this magnificent acrostic hymn, as recorded in the New Living Translation, grouping together the contiguous, deeply connected thoughts found in verse one and verse two. I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever. I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever. David opens this royal anthem with a passionate, deeply personal commitment, shouting, “I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever. I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever.” To fully appreciate the profound, revolutionary nature of these opening words, we must view them through the fascinating lens of the Ancient Israelite divine-council worldview. In the ancient Near East, earthly kings routinely claimed divine status for themselves. Pagan rulers built massive monuments, claiming to be absolute lords over their territory, demanding that their subjects bow before their supreme authority. But here stands King David—the undisputed, victorious monarch of Israel, the ruler of an expanding empire—and what does he do? He looks up into the heavens, and addresses Yahweh directly as “my God and King.” David recognizes a fundamental cosmic truth: his own royal authority is merely derivative. He is not the ultimate sovereign; he is merely the earthly viceroy, the covenant servant of the true King who sits enthroned above the celestial assembly of heaven. Notice, also, the dynamic rhythm of David's devotional life expressed in these two verses. He bridges the immediate present with the infinite future. He declares that he will praise God “every day”—establishing a discipline of consistent, daily worship along the dusty trails of life—while simultaneously declaring that this praise will endure “forever and ever.” David understands that praising the name of Yahweh—which represents His revealed character, His covenant reputation, and His supreme authority—is not a temporary earthly chore. It is the primary, joyful occupation of human beings and heavenly hosts alike, stretching past the boundaries of mortality directly into eternity. The second segment is: The Unsearchable Realm: Cosmic Greatness Beyond Measure The narrative of David's praise expands rapidly outward from his personal devotion to the infinite reality of God's nature, as recorded in verse three. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness. David proclaims with unshakeable conviction, “Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness.” This singular verse serves as the foundational theological anchor for the entire psalm. When David exclaims that Yahweh is “great” and “most worthy of praise,” he is making a bold, cosmic comparison against all other powers in existence. In the ancient Israelite worldview, the cosmos was populated by various spiritual beings—angels, guardians, and fallen principalities. But Yahweh stands in a category completely by Himself. He is not merely the chief deity among many; He is the uncreated Creator, the absolute Master of the divine council, and the Lord of all earthly nations. Consider that remarkable phrase: “No one can measure his greatness.” In the original Hebrew, it literally reads, his greatness has no searching out. Every created entity in the universe—whether a human king, a mighty mountain, a blazing star, or a high-ranking angelic spirit—has boundaries, dimensions, and limitations. They can be measured, mapped, and comprehended. But the greatness of Yahweh is unfathomable, bottomless, and infinite! You can swim in the ocean of His glory for ten thousand years, and you will never hit bottom. Because His majesty is completely beyond human and angelic measurement, the praise offered to Him can never be exhausted. There will always be new depths of His character to discover, and new reasons to lift our voices in awe. The third segment is: The Legacy of Praise: Passing the Torch Across Generations Having established the unsearchable greatness of the King, David turns his attention to how this glorious reality is transmitted through human history, linking his contiguous thoughts together in verse four and verse five. Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles. David outlines the divine relay race of truth, praying, “Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles.” Here, right at the center of Psalm One Hundred Forty-Five, we encounter the very heart and soul of our Wisdom-Trek mission: creating a living legacy! David realizes that the incredible truths of God's redemptive power must never be locked away in the past, nor can they be assumed to automatically transfer to the future. Faithfulness requires an intentional, intergenerational handoff. One generation must stand face-to-face with the next generation, actively recounting the “mighty acts” and “power” of Yahweh. In ancient Israel, this meant teaching children about the deliverance from Egypt, the splitting of the Red Sea, the thunderous revelation at Mount Sinai, and the faithful provision in the wilderness. For us today, it means testifying to our children and grandchildren about the ultimate victory of King Jesus, and sharing the concrete ways God has proven faithful in our own family histories. Notice, however, that David does not view this intergenerational legacy as a cold, academic history lesson. Look at verse five! He combines public proclamation with deep, quiet, personal contemplation, declaring, “I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles.” The Hebrew phrasing here—hod ve-hadar—describes the radiant, terrifying beauty and regal dignity of a monarch sitting in His heavenly throne room. David takes time to slow down his racing mind, fixing his thoughts on the dazzling sple“dor of God's character. True legacy flows out of deep, private meditation. When we spend time contemplating the awe-inspiring miracles of God in the secret place, our public testimony to the next generation gains an irresistible, vibrant warmth. The forth segment is: The Cascading Fountain: Awe-Inspiring Deeds and Overflowing Goodness The narrative reaches a magnificent, joyful crescendo as David describes the infectious, widespread impact of God's mighty works, combining his final logical thoughts in verse six and verse seven. Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness. Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness. Day 2909– “The Ultimate Close Encounter”  based on Luke 10:1-16 Putnam Church Message – 06/21/2026 The Good News According to Luke: “Practical Talk to Those in Ministry.”   Last week's message was “A Face Like Flint,” in which we studied the One who set His face toward Jerusalem now sets His grace upon His people. Today, we continue with our twenty-ninth message from Luke's narrative of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Today's message is: “Practical Talk to Those in Ministry.” Our core passage today is Luke 10:1-16, on page 1611 of your pew Bibles. Jesus Sends Out the Seventy-Two 10 After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two[a] others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road. 5 “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.' 6 If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house. 8 “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. 9 Heal the sick>who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.' 10 But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 11 ‘Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.' 12 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town. 13 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. 15 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.[b] 16 “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.” Opening Prayer Father, we come before You today grateful that You invite ordinary people into Your extraordinary work. We confess that we often feel inadequate, distracted, discouraged, or afraid. Sometimes we carry burdens You never asked us to carry, and sometimes we measure ministry by results rather than faithfulness. Lord Jesus, teach us today from Your Word. Show us what it means to be sent by You, to labor for Your harvest, to depend on Your provision, to speak peace, to serve faithfully, and to leave the results in Your hands. Help us see that ministry is not reserved for a few, but belongs to all who follow You. May our lives become faithful witnesses to the nearness of Your Kingdom. Amen. Introduction: Why Would God Use Us? I have often wondered why God involves people in His work when He can do everything Himself. Have you ever thought about that? God does not need our talent. God does not need our strength. God does not need our planning ability. God does not need our committees, schedules, buildings, sermons, songs, or programs. He can do the job better than we can. He can speak a word, and worlds come into existence. He can open blind eyes, raise the dead, calm storms, silence demons, and move kings according to His will. So why does He entrust something as important as building His Kingdom to people like us? People who get tired. People who misunderstand. People who get proud. People who become discouraged. People who argue about greatness. People who sometimes want to call down fire on their enemies. That is the mystery of grace. God does not involve us because He lacks power. He involves us because He loves us, forms us, and gives us a genuine part in His redemptive work. In the previous message, “A Face Like Flint,” we saw Jesus set His face toward Jerusalem. Luke 9:51 is a hinge in Luke's Gospel. From that moment forward, Jesus is moving toward the cross, the resurrection, and the ascension. Nothing will distract Him from the Father's mission. Now, in Luke 10:1–16, Jesus does something remarkable. He multiplies the mission. Earlier, He sent the Twelve. Now He appoints seventy-two others, or seventy depending on the manuscript tradition, and sends them ahead of Him into the towns and places He plans to visit. This means the ministry is expanding beyond the inner circle. The Kingdom is not a private project for the Twelve. It is not merely the work of clergy. It is not limited to those with public titles. Jesus is building a people who are sent. And in this passage, He gives practical talk to those in ministry. That includes pastors, teachers, elders, deacons, missionaries, children's workers, worship leaders, caregivers, parents, grandparents, encouragers, prayer warriors, business owners, neighbors, friends, and every believer who bears witness to Christ. If you belong to Jesus, you are involved in ministry. So let us listen carefully to His practical instruction found in four truths in your bulletin insert on the side that says Practical Talk to Those in Ministry. Main Point 1: The Harvest Belongs to God, but the Labor Belongs to Us Jesus says the harvest is great, but the workers are few. So, He tells His disciples to pray to the Lord of the harvest, asking Him to send out workers into His harvest. That is where ministry begins: not with panic, but with prayer. Jesus looks at the world as a harvest field. That image would have been vivid to His listeners. In an agricultural world, the harvest was urgent. When the crop was ready, delay could mean loss. Workers had to go into the field while the time was right. But notice what Jesus calls it. It is not our harvest. It is not the church's harvest. It is not the pastor's harvest. It is the Lord's harvest. That matters. When we forget this, we carry burdens God never intended us to carry. We begin to think the future of the Kingdom depends on us. We stay awake at night worrying about results we cannot control. We measure faithfulness by numbers, approval, visible response, or immediate fruit. But Jesus calls Himself the Lord of the harvest. He owns the field. He knows the soil. He sees the hearts. He sends the workers. He brings the growth. Our responsibility is not to control the harvest. Our responsibility is to labor faithfully. Object Lesson: A Seed Packet and a Basket Hold up a packet of seeds and an empty basket. The seed packet represents the work entrusted to us. / We can plant. / We can water. / We can tend. / We can prepare. But we cannot force life into the seed. The basket represents the harvest. / We long to see it full, and that longing is good. / But only God can bring the harvest. Paul says something similar in 1 Corinthians 3:7  It's not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What's important is that God makes the seed grow. That is freeing. We are not excused from labor. Jesus calls us workers. But we are freed from pretending to be God. Ancient Context When Jesus sent these seventy-two, He sent them ahead of Him. They were not going out to build personal followings. They were preparing towns for the arrival of the King. In the ancient world, messengers often went ahead of a ruler to announce his coming. They did not invent the message. They did not negotiate the king's authority. They...

The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. On our previous expedition, on Day Two Thousand Nine Hundred Seven, we stood amazed as we explored the first half of Psalm One Hundred Forty-Four, focusing on verses one through eight. We witnessed David, the warrior king, standing directly on the rugged frontiers of cosmic conflict, shouting praises to Yahweh, the majestic Storm Warrior, who trains his hands for war and gives his fingers skill for battle. We listened as David pleaded for the Almighty to bow the heavens, flash His supernatural lightning, and rip open the cosmic veil to rescue him from the "deep waters"—those treacherous, lying foreign enemies who sought to subvert the divine order. Today, we step directly onto the second half of this magnificent mountain pass, diving deeply into Psalm One Hundred Forty-Four, verses nine through fifteen. The spiritual and narrative scenery undergoes a beautiful, breathtaking transformation here. We are moving out of the clashing, smoky din of cosmic warfare, and stepping directly into a quiet, sunlit valley filled with a glorious, harmonious symphony of peace, domestic prosperity, and generational restoration. David understands a profound kingdom truth that every wise trekker must grasp: the ultimate purpose of divine warfare is never just the destruction of the enemy; it is the comprehensive establishment of shalom—the complete, flourishing wholeness of a society living in perfect alignment with the Creator. The first segment is: The New Song of the Vindicate Viceroy Let us open our ears to the first movement of this concluding sequence, as recorded in the New Living Translation, where David groups his logical thoughts together in verse eights, verse nine, and verse ten. I will sing a new song to you, O God! I will play on a ten-stringed lute. For you give victory to kings! You rescued your servant David from the fatal sword. David anchors his future firmly in praise, declaring with joyful anticipation, “I will sing a new song to you, O God! I will play on a ten-stringed lute. For you give victory to kings! You rescued your servant David from the fatal sword.” To fully appreciate the weight of these lines, we must view them through the fascinating lens of the Ancient Israelite divine-council worldview. In the ancient Near East, kingship was not merely a matter of human politics or military strategy. The king of Israel was uniquely designated as the earthly viceroy, the covenant partner, of Yahweh, who sits enthroned above the celestial assembly. While the surrounding pagan nations looked to their localized, rebellious deities for military dominance, David looks directly to the supreme Creator. When he mentions that God “gives victory to kings,” the original Hebrew word for victory is teshuah, which carries the profound meaning of deliverance, salvation, and cosmic rescue. David is acknowledging that no earthly monarch—regardless of how massive his infantry or how brilliant his chariot tactics might be—can secure a true victory outside of the sovereign decree of the heavenly council. Furthermore, when David vows to sing a “new song” while playing upon a ten-stringed lute, he is introducing a powerful prophetic concept. In biblical theology, a new song is never just a fresh melody; it represents a brand-new epoch in human history. It is an anthem of redemption that is sung only after a decisive, miraculous victory has been secured by the arm of the Lord. The ten-stringed lute adds a layer of majestic, symphonic fullness to this praise. David is orchestrating a grand celebration before the heavenly hosts, publicly testifying that it was not his own royal status or human strength that preserved his life, but rather the active, intervening hand of Yahweh, who personally stepped into the fray to snatch His chosen servant away from the edge of the fatal, chaotic sword. The second segment is: The Persistent Refrain: Confronting Systemic Falsehood The narrative takes a fascinating, highly strategic turn in verse eleven, as David repeats a powerful, familiar refrain that links this section directly back to the warfare themes of our previous podcast episode. Save me! Deliver me from the power of my enemies. Their mouths are full of lies; they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead. David breaks back into an urgent, defensive petition, crying out, “Save me! Deliver me from the power of my enemies. Their mouths are full of lies; they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead.” You might wonder why David, right after promising to sing a triumphant new song of victory, would suddenly drop right back into a desperate plea for rescue from lying adversaries. This literary structure reveals a profound truth about our daily trek of faith. The victory has been legally decreed in the heavenly courtroom, but the final mopping-up operations are still being actively contested on the earthly battlefield. David is dealing with foreign, hostile entities who do not share his covenant allegiance to the Most High. He describes them as having mouths full of lies, individuals who raise their hands to take solemn, binding oaths of truth, but unleash calculated perjury instead. This persistent focus on deception connects perfectly with the broader theological tapestry of Psalms One Hundred Forty through One Hundred Forty-Three. In the ancient world, truth was the foundational concrete that held cosmic and social order together. When a nation's leaders weaponize systemic lies, gaslighting, and false diplomacy, they are actively mimicking the original, deceptive language of the ancient serpent, attempting to dissolve the boundaries of truth established by God. David recognizes that he cannot build a flourishing, prosperous society if the foundations are continuously being eroded by foreign deception. Therefore, before he can detail the beautiful blessings of peace, he must ask the Sovereign Lord to completely sever the influence of these toxic, deceitful operations from the borders of his land. The third segment is: The Blueprint of Shalom: A Flourishing Next Generation Once the dark, chaotic waters of deception are pushed back by divine justice, the true, exquisite design of kingdom prosperity can burst forth. Let us listen to the magnificent generational blueprint David maps out in verse twelve. May our sons flourish in their youth like well-nurtured plants. May our daughters be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace. David paints a breathtaking portrait of domestic flourishing, praying, “May our sons flourish in their youth like well-nurtured plants. May our daughters be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace.” Notice the deep, highly intentional metaphors David employs to describe the vibrant health of the next generation. He prays that the young sons of the kingdom will grow up like well-nurtured, deeply rooted plants. In a rugged, agricultural society, a well-nurtured plant represents vitality, strength, consistent productivity, and future stability. It implies that these young men are being carefully cultivated in the soil of wisdom, growing up to become sturdy, reliable protectors and providers who will uphold the moral integrity of the covenant community. Simultaneously, David looks upon the young women of the kingdom, praying that the daughters would be like graceful, elegant pillars, exquisitely carved to beautify a majestic palace. This imagery carries immense structural and architectural significance. In the ancient Near East, the corner pillars of a palace or a temple were not merely ornamental; they were massive, load-bearing structures that held the entire weight of the roof together, ensuring the stability of the building. Yet, they were also heavily sculpted with intricate, beautiful artwork. David is declaring that the women of Israel are the dignified, essential pillars of society. In this lesson from the Gate of Repentance (Shaar HaTeshuvah), Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe addresses a practical question that many people ask: How can someone possibly repent for years of repeated mistakes? What about a lifetime of speaking lashon hara, neglecting mitzvos because of poor upbringing, or simply never having learned the proper way to serve Hashem? The Orchot Tzaddikim reassures us that teshuvah is never beyond reach. Every individual is unique, with different strengths, weaknesses, backgrounds, and circumstances. Therefore, repentance is not a one-size-fits-all process. Each person must find the path that best enables them to grow closer to Hashem according to their own abilities and spiritual makeup. A central theme of the episode is that teshuvah is built by strengthening our strengths rather than becoming overwhelmed by our failures. Rabbi Wolbe explains that if fasting or physical hardship would weaken a person's Torah study or service of Hashem, then it is not the appropriate form of repentance for that individual. Instead, the Torah teaches us to increase kindness, truth, Torah learning, heartfelt prayer, humility, volunteering, and helping others. Quoting King Solomon's words, "With kindness and truth, sin is atoned," Rabbi Wolbe emphasizes that positive action transforms a person's spiritual standing. He also cautions against the endless distractions of modern life—from constant news consumption to unnecessary entertainment—that prevent honest self-reflection and meaningful growth. The lesson concludes with a powerful call to create regular moments of solitude and introspection.
