Venessa has been featured alongside the works of such authors as Casey McQuiston, TJ Klune, Everina Maxwell, Sophie Gonzales, Becky Albertalli, Sarah Rees Brennan, Alexis Hall, Jennifer Weiner, and others, as well as the marketing campaign for Amazon Studio's highly-anticipated movie adaptation, “Red White & Royal Blue.” Her graphic novel debut, MANU FACES THE MUSIC, is in development with Oni Press, with her first illustrated adult historical fiction novel WHEN THE TIDES HELD THE MOON set to debut with Erewhon Books in 2025.  Connect with Venessa on: Instagram or her website. Listen to The Brave Files More about Alan via @theatre_podcast on Instagram and listen to The Theatre Podcast with Alan Seales EPISODE TAKEAWAYS Venessa dreamed of being an animator as a child and fell in love with sequential art Sequential artist is the fancy term for comic art One of the original viral “fan artists,” Venesssa never lost sight of her passion even when working in voiceover and marketing for The Federal Government When her day job got a little too heavy, Venessa would retreat to a novel for pleasure and create sketches from those works. A random share on Twitter turned viral and catapulted Venessa to the core of fandom love. Much of Venessa's artwork is driven by the desire to get books she loves in front of a larger audience. She has always worked to support BIPOC and LGBTQ authors and help raise awareness for their work. Venessa's art is mostly digital art because it's fast and doesn't take a lot of expensive resources but she begins with pencil and paper sketches. Eventually, it became impossible to have a day job and make art professionally. She chose her own graphic novel and we're all so glad she did. Be the ladder - Venessa loves helping other artists to value themselves and fight for their fair share, especially in the face of AI art. We love Venessa's approach to “failure” She believes in a “Bless your mistakes” approach to life. In the episode, we talk about emotional deficit - what it is and how to deal with it. There is NO wasted time - ever. All of Venessa's past experiences are showing up in her own work and she's wildly grateful for all of her experiences. It wasn't until Venessa was in her 30s that she began to untangle her identity and embrace her Queer identity. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

De laatste Bondfilm, No Time To Die, stamt uit 2021. Het was de laatste film met Daniel Craig als James Bond. Happy Holidays, ya bleedin' E-jits! Filmjitsu, your favorite bad movie podcast, is celebrating a few days off from work with... The Rock, Captain America, Joan Watson and J. Jonah Jameson? Yeah, while it was only in theaters for as long as if takes Santa to down a plate of cookies, Mike and Jay somehow managed to catch the Amazon Studios mega-budget action-comedy-Christmas flick, "Red One," a critically-lambasted mishmash of a "...Has Fallen" movie with, well, "Elf?" Did the guys get the coal they expected in their stockings, or was there a Christmas miracle that led to them liking the movie? Find out during their main review and then stick around while they list off their "Bottom Five Secret Organizations," a list of covert, usually massive, groups working under the radar of normal society to perform typically nefarious (and frequently absurd) agendas. After that, the guys try out a new game called "Dueling Double-Bills" which has them building competing double features out of two randomly-generated Holiday Films! Like every December, this episode is stuffed with revelations, disappointment, laughter and announced grievances, so have a listen while cozying up by the yule log this week!

The series is based on the first campaign of the Dungeons & Dragons web series Critical Role. It stars Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Matthew Mercer, Liam O'Brien, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, and Travis Willingham, reprising their roles from the campaign. The first season consists of twelve episodes, the first ten of which were funded via a Kickstarter campaign. In November 2019, ahead of the series premiere, it was renewed by Amazon for a second season which premiered on January 20, 2023. In October 2022, ahead of season two's premiere, Amazon renewed the series for a third season.[6][7] It is currently scheduled to premiere on October 3, 2024. The series received widespread acclaim from critics and audiences, with praise for its animation, voice acting, action sequences, story, writing, emotional weight, and faithfulness to the campaign. The series is set on Exandria,[8][9] a fictional world created by Matthew Mercer in 2012 for his personal Dungeons & Dragons campaign, which then launched as the actual play web series Critical Role in 2015.[9][10][11] Most of the story takes place on the continent of Tal'Dorei in locations such as the metropolis of Emon and the city-state of Whitestone.[8][9][12] The first two episodes of the series[13] depict "an all-new story about the seven-member Vox Machina team at D&D Level 7 on their first 'grown-up' mission, which occurs prior to Critical Role's first RPG show".[14] The series then adapts the Briarwood arc from the original web series,[9] "in which the Vox Machina crew avenge the murder of the rulers of the town of Whitestone and most of their offspring by the evil Lord and Lady Briarwood".[14] In the second season the series also adapts "other classic Vox Machina story arcs",[15] such as the Chroma Conclave arc.[16] Premise[edit]Setting[edit]Synopsis[edit]

Our discussion gets into the nitty gritty analysis of the books' account of the different faction's objectives and outcomes, before we use every frame from the show's trailers and promo to try and piece together how the siege will play out on screen.   Timestamps: Introduction & Reading: 00:10 Welcoming Sarah to the show: 04:45  Overview of our discussion: 26:26 Book Siege's Timeline: 30:44 Strategic Objectives: 39:21 Operational Objectives: 54:37 Tactical Objectives: 01:06:20 Outcome of the Siege: 01:20:42 Show Siege's Prelude & Sauron's Motivations: 01:27:58 Strategic Objectives: 01:41:48 Preparatory Phase: 01:51:50 The Siege Begins: 01:58:17 Removing a River: 02:10:59 Assaulting the Walls: 02:17:16 Elrond's Forces Arrive: 02:22:35 Battle Below the Walls: 02:31:48 The Final Act: 02:41:52 Setting up S3: 02:55:07 Outro: 03:09:13   Follow us on Twitter for more Rings of Power content: @DailyRoP Follow Sarah on Twitter: @srwestvik And subscribe to the podcast on your favourite app: https://linktr.ee/dailyrop Intro & Outro Music : She Moved Through the Fair by Sláinte | https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Slinte  Music promoted by https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/  Creative Commons CC BY-SA 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/

Welcome to the forty-second episode of The Daily Rings of Power Podcast! On August 14th the final trailer for Season 2 was released and to mark the occasion, I decided to host the first ever DailyRoP livestream on YouTube. I was joined as usual by Anna to discuss and analyse the trailer, with the added bonus of getting to interact with the viewers in the liver chat offering their own insights. As I know some of you don't use YouTube or instead prefer an audio-only format, I have put together the recording from the livestream as the latest episode. Please bear in mind this is not a tightly-edited episode like you're used to, but all the same for those who have been waiting for this, I hope you enjoy the discussion. The link to the YouTube recording of the livestream is in the show notes below. Welcome to the thirty-ninth episode of The Daily Rings of Power Podcast! San Diego Comic-Con arrived, and with it came the best trailer we have ever seen for The Rings of Power. Nearly 4 minutes long and every second of it filled with incredible scenes to pour over and analyse. And the DailyRoP podcast is up to the task, as Anna and I breakdown every single line, every single shot in the trailer! Come for the detailed analysis and stick around for the usual nonsense stories of my obsession with rocks, fans getting caught thirsting by an actor's father, and Anna barking at Elendil. World Building for Masochists
Episode 130: Large-Scale Worldbuilding for Character-Centric Worlds, ft. REBECCA ROANHORSE

World Building for Masochists

Massive worlds require massive worldbuilding -- or do they? Sometimes, a narrower, character-centric scope can create a tight and compelling narrative while still crafting an expansive world. Guest Rebecca Roanhorse joins us to discuss how knowing your characters can help you konw your world. What does it mean to let character lead worldbuilding? How does that define your scope and how much worldbuilding you show the reader? How does this change wth a single versus a multi- POV story? When you let character lead, how do you avoid a world that feels like it was constructed solely to be an obstacle course for that one character to move through? We discuss technique for all this and more! Sidebar: It's still Hugo voting season! You've got until Saturday, 20th July 2024, 20:17 GMT to vote -- and you can vote as long as you become a Glasgow 2024 member by then.
