What if the key to solving our climate crisis lies beneath our feet? Could tiny fungal networks be the unsung heroes of carbon sequestration? And how might reimagining our relationship with fungi transform our understanding of life on Earth? This week on Cleaning Up, Bryony Worthington sits down with Merlin Sheldrake, author of the bestselling "Entangled Life," to explore the extraordinary world of fungi. Sheldrake reveals how these remarkable organisms are not just passive participants in our ecosystem, but active innovators that have been shaping our planet for a billion of years. From their crucial role in carbon cycling and soil health to their potential in creating sustainable materials, fungi may be a powerful solution to some of our most pressing environmental challenges. Sheldrake takes us on a journey through fungal networks, discussing their intelligence, chemical capabilities, and symbiotic relationships that challenge our understanding of life. Leadership Circle: Cleaning Up is supported by the Leadership Circle, and its founding members: Actis, Alcazar Energy, Davidson Kempner, EcoPragma Capital, EDP of Portugal, Eurelectric, the Gilardini Foundation, KKR, National Grid, Octopus Energy, Quadrature Climate Foundation, SDCL and Wärtsilä.

Over 100,000 megaliths covered the French region of Bretagne, to the point where it once resembled a forest of stone. It is the world's largest megalithic metropolis. And yet in central Portugal and the isles of Scotland there exists the same phenomenon. Why were these three locations chosen above all others by Neolithic architects?  And why were stones as tall as sixty feet transported as much as forty miles from their quarry? In his latest documentary https://invisibletemple.com/megalith.html bestselling author and researcher Freddy Silva takes an in-depth look at these regions — along with southern England — and finds a common thread: the selective choice of stone, identical design and construction methods, folklore, experiences of altered states, and legends of gods arriving from the sea. Add an understanding of gravity anomalies, electromagnetism, fault lines, a migration from the Black Sea region, and a language fingerprint originating in Armenia, and seemingly unconnected ideas converge to explain who masterminded this megalithic enterprise. From enduring a 24-hour return journey from Portugal with multiple exhausting layovers, to discovering my "bargain" Belize Airbnb had no air conditioning in 80+ degree weather, these experiences taught me valuable lessons about when saving money becomes counterproductive. You'll learn practical strategies to avoid these pitfalls, including how to use Google Street View to assess a neighborhood's safety before booking, why checking your credit card's travel benefits could save you from paying twice for rental car insurance, and how to evaluate whether that super-cheap flight with three layovers is really worth the savings. I also share my new approach to flexibility in bookings, specifically why I now only book accommodations with reasonable cancellation policies.Whether you're planning your next budget adventure or simply want to travel more mindfully, these hard-earned insights will help you find that sweet spot between saving money and preserving your travel experience. Because sometimes the cheapest option isn't actually the best value. Leave a review on Apple Podcasts if you've found these tips helpful—I'd love to hear how they've shaped your own travel planning!JOIN GOING for Cheap Flight deals: Use link belowhttps://goingwith.me/6gsk6x5dSupport the showInstagram @solotraveladventures50Facebook community: Solo Travel for Women Over 50 https://www.facebook.com/groups/860865768609200
