How did Michael and his team come up with the pricing? While Michael does not remember the details, he says they researched around to determine what their competitors were charging.  Raising money to fund the business was not an easy process. After a year of trying to figure out how to raise money, Michael and his team got angel investors before working with micro venture capitalists. Richard Tunnah started his online journey in '95 when he acquired a desktop computer (the size of a dining room table!) for about £4k and set up an online classified site. (pre craigslist and gumtree) which they sold in the late '90s. They then set up a website design company (where they had a hand coder!). They exited this business after 2 years and had an IT support company. They sold this and he started an e-commerce business. This was the early 2000's. He approached a number of designer labels to sell their end of line stock and came to an agreement with Ralph Lauren and DKNY to sell their t-shirts on eBay. Spending about £1k a week and doubling that until people saw what he was doing and getting cheap copies from china when eBay wasn't strict on fakes.  He then started a business growth company focused on customer retention and customer reactivation campaigns. He has an Amazon best selling book on the subject.  He has also hosted a business podcast interviewing various business leaders. He has also been featured on CNN and US Today writing about business growth and branding. In today’s episode, Melissa discusses how to ditch the mindset that is preventing you from being truly free from food. She calls this the “three mindset secrets to ditch your weight-loss struggle.”   Melissa begins by offering some support to those who have struggled with placing food over themselves, and begins to offer some realistic ways to take captive those thoughts in order to best serve yourself. While explaining her background, Melissa expands on the “holistic” attitude, which ultimately extends beyond physical health and into mental and spiritual health.   Having healed herself from cancer and other illnesses, she does not place primary emphasis on Western medicine, and neither should you. Beyond this, Melissa is a hypnotherapist and an expert on emotional and mindset mastery. Diving into the first masterclass (to go live every Tuesday night), Melissa unpacks how to change your mindset.   Step 1: Uncover the truth of who you are without the weight. She encourages the listener to first write down who you are; that is, describe your current identity. This is the first step in mindset mastery—many of us root our identities in our bodies. A: Answer the question, “Do I believe I can lose this weight without dieting?” Most people are not honest with themselves about how they’re hurting their own goals. This includes cheating on diet days and snacking late at night. B: Burn what you wrote about your identity before. C: Create a new identity. What is the identity you want to embody? Write a paragraph. Begin with declarative “I am” and “I have” statements to manifest your will. D: Write down how it feels to consider this new identity. You want to tap into truth. Read your new identity every night and very morning. E: Write down who you would be without your past. Consider how often you lean on your past mistakes instead of leaning into the present. What would your relationship with food be?   Step 2: Make a declaration of who you choose to be. A: Make a list of all the past beliefs based on your past. B: Burn those core beliefs along with the identity you’re burning. C: Make a list of the beliefs that line up with the identity you actually want. In other words, what would that woman believe to be true?   Step 3: What areas of your life are out of alignment?   Melissa walks through this process and teaches her viewers that this newly-constructed identity must be repeated to yourself in order to train your brain to release the other, harmful identities.    On the note of healing, Melissa touches on the idea that many of us feel healing if not for all the pain that they’ve been able to avoid. Fear of your own anger and your own sadness has only hurt your ability to heal, and you owe yourself the healing, the mental freedom, and the mastered mindset. She presses the viewers to act as though their new identities have already become their own realities. She gives many examples of the differences between truths and beliefs.   Later, Melissa shares some stories related to her own struggle with emotional eating and how having the right community is vital to your success. As you rewrite your story, you have to realize that you cannot get there by staying where you are.  You literally need to shift into the paradigm of a new mindset. There is a piece within that is connected to the universe: you need to tap into that piece to transform your mindset.    Melissa saved her own life from cancer by tying herself to a belief system that’s greater. Channeling that energy will solidify the identity you want to take over. Lean into the moments when you’re deflecting, when you’re apologizing—the moments when you lack love for yourself. It’s in these moments that we can turn our minds upside down and become the powerful women we truly are.   Those interested in joining the Weightloss for Life program can apply directly. In order to close the old identities, you need to live out the new one. The difference between the truth and beliefs. “Word I am word” solidifies these truths at the cellular level. Actionable steps to take until the next seminar. How to walk away with your new identity and belief systems. You’re not alone, even if it feels like it. It’s difficult because you’re invested in the struggle. The critical piece of you is going to hold you back, but you have to tether yourself to a  belief system that’s greater. You can find your “witching hour,” typically when you’re alone, and target your  problematic eating behaviors. Constantly apologizing reflects a poor self-image. So, when we look at our audience, it's the investor and even people who don't think of themselves as investor.” “The average 1031 exchange will start and complete in 62 days.”“From closing you have 45 days to pick out what you're going to buy.” “If there's one practical piece of advice that I give everybody in dealing with these time periods: start shopping. Shop early, shop often, and start shopping before today, before today's closing.”“If we have a rental house and its been rented for a year or more, a couple or a few years, that starts to completely comply with the rental definition, the ‘held for investment requirement.' Also, do you have multiple properties?... All of that sets the pattern that you're an investor.”“A vacation home, in and of itself, if it's purely personal use, if it's only a property that you and your family go to, the vacation home won't qualify for a 1031 exchange.”“Equal or greater is if you want to save all the taxes. If you go slightly under, it's not the end of the world. This is a special episode of the Greenie Guide Podcast. I’ll get back into regular interview episodes soon, but wanted to share some voter resources in a special solo episode. We have an important election coming up next week, and we all need to get out there and vote. In this episode, I lay out a few ways to make the voting experience easier and more fun, whether it’s getting to the polls or knowing who to cast your vote for. Let’s all make a pact to vote together next week, whether it’s our first time voting or our twentieth. Resources to Learn Who to Vote For ACLU Quiz to help you determine candidates who will stand up for civil rights (usually a pretty good bet they will be pro-climate. Utilize Ballot Ready to learn about candidates and referendums. Learn more about your US Senate and US House candidates and their commitment to climate with their climate score from Vote Climate US PAC. What organizations do you follow that align with your political priorities? Many organizations endorse candidates who are committed to their mission, and this is a super easy way to figure out who to vote for based on values. Check out ACLU, Sierra Club, local LGBTQ organizations, Indivisible, 350action.org, and more for endorsements. Check a sample ballot ahead of time. Browse your state’s Secretary of State website for sample ballots and other resources. You will be depressed by these numbers…I was. How can the majority of our representatives be climate deniers when that does NOT represent the majority of Americans? Depressing, but it should motivate us to VOTE THEM OUT.   Ballots Related to Climate Around the Country Share these articles with family and friends in states with important climate-related ballot measures: Bike-related ballots up for vote, including in California, Colorado, Florida and Rhode Island. Big environmental initiatives across the country. Five big energy and environment related ballot items. Major environmental measures for 2018. Carbon tax on the ballot in Washington state…tell anyone you know in WA to pass it!   Make Voting Easier Find your polling place and map it out now (or use the US government’s main site). Vote early! Most states have early voting. Check for details here. You can also look on your state website for voting info. Spend 20 minutes looking up and writing down who and what you’re voting for. Make a date of it by grabbing coffee at a local shop and looking things up with a partner, friend, or family member. Write down who/what you are voting for, either on your phone or a piece of paper. There are many candidates, categories, and ballot measures. It’s much easier to write things down then have to remember them all! Plan out when you are voting and add to your calendar now. If you can, meet family or friends with the same polling location to vote together. You’ll have more fun waiting and you’ll help one another stay accountable. Reward yourself for voting! You deserve it. Treat yo’ self with a coffee, smoothie, or treat. Seriously, sometimes we need a little external reward for doing the right thing. A native of Saint Mary, Jamaica Wilfred was blessed to learn the fundamental properties of natural foods, herbs, fruits, vegetables and meats. Having family members who cooked “Ital Foods” allowed him to attain the skills for making exotic & delicious Caribbean meals. Upon moving to the United States as a teenager, Wilfred stayed in the kitchen with family & friends who later became mentors in nurturing his craft. Through the years he indulged in the new & exciting flavors that came along with the standard American diet, luckily his island origin kept him grounded with healthy natural foods.
