Ma i dubbi sull'esatta dinamica della tragica scomparsa della Corrocher continueranno a circolare negli ambienti della finanza milanese per diverso tempo.

The major political upheaval that befell Italy happened on 26th May, 1981, when Prime Minister Arnaldo Forlani and his entire cabinet resigned. This followed the exposure of a secretive Masonic lodge, known as P2 or Propaganda Due, intent on creating a shadowy state-within-a-state. Its 962 elite members included high-ranking military officers, civil servants, bankers, and a certain Silvio Berlusconi. The mastermind behind the sect, Licio Gelli, was a former fascist functionary who had reinvented himself as a powerful and well-connected businessman. Gelli fled to Switzerland, but despite being eventually arrested and later extradited to Italy, spent no time behind bars. In 1976, its Masonic charter was revoked, and under the leadership of Licio Gelli, it evolved into an illegal, clandestine organization.  P2 operated as a radical right-wing, anti-communist, anti-Soviet, and anti-Marxist secret society, violating Article 18 of the Italian Constitution, which prohibited such secret associations. Gelli continued to run the unaffiliated lodge from 1976 to 1984.  P2 was linked to numerous crimes and scandals in Italy, including the collapse of the Banco Ambrosiano (associated with the Holy See), the murders of journalist Carmine Pecorelli and banker Roberto Calvi, and widespread political corruption during the Tangentopoli bribery scandal. The organization's activities were exposed during investigations into the downfall of Michele Sindona's financial empire.
