Welcome to Poolside Confessions, my summer series where we gather around the pool and I confess the things I've been thinking, feeling, and experiencing – in hopes of normalizing these conversations and helping you know you're not alone. Today's confession is one that almost every successful woman I've ever talked to has felt at some point. The fear of losing it all. When I first started my business, my fears looked different. Am I good enough? Will I make it? What will people think? And in the back of my mind was this big fantasy of arrival – that when I finally hit a certain number, built a certain life, I'd feel safe. Secure. Like I'd finally made it. You get there. And a new fear is waiting. The bigger the building you've built, the harder the ego whispers about the fall. So many women end up creating a life their younger selves would have been so proud of – and they can't even enjoy it because they're too busy white-knuckling it. Too afraid it's all going to be taken away. In this episode, I'm walking you through the practices that have set me free from this fear – and that I've watched set other women free, too. Here's what we cover: Why the fear of losing it all shows up the moment you finally build something you love The thought pattern that keeps successful women exhausted and unable to enjoy what they've created How to entertain the worst-case scenario… so you can finally make peace with it The compassion practice I use with the scared little girl inside of me Why getting clear on what is enough brings relief How to stop building a prison out of your own success The truth about freedom… and why it was never about the money   Did you enjoy this episode? What happens when you truly encounter the holiness, majesty, and awesomeness of God? In Episode 8 of "The Fear of the Lord," Duane Sheriff teaches that fearing the Lord is not a tormenting fear that drives us away from God, but a holy awe and reverence that draws us deeper into His presence. In the book of Isaiah, the prophet sees God high and lifted up, filling the temple with His glory. In that moment of overwhelming holiness, Isaiah doesn't run away in terror. He experiences purging and cleansing when a seraphim touches his lips with a coal from the altar, and his iniquity is taken away. This is the fear of the Lord in action—it reveals our unholiness not to condemn us, but to cleanse us. We cannot see how unholy we are until we see how holy He is.Many believers misunderstand the fear of God, associating it with condemnation and rejection rather than with grace and relationship. When we truly see God's holiness, we will also recognize our need for His mercy and cleansing. The fear of the Lord causes us to depart from evil—not through legalism or self-effort, but by being drawn into the beauty of God's holiness, goodness, and love.Click for FREE offer ➡️https://pastorduane.com/landing/the-fear-of-the-lord

Fear can save your life—or quietly ruin it.. Fear keeps you alert, helps you avoid danger, and in many situations can literally save your life. Without fear, humans probably wouldn't survive very long. But fear also has another side. Sometimes the fear response kicks in when there is no real danger at all—or at least not enough danger to justify the level of anxiety we feel. Worry about money, health, relationships, social situations, or the future can become overwhelming and begin to shape the way we live our lives. In some cases, fear becomes less of a protector and more of a prison. Dr. Arash Javanbakht, psychiatrist, neuroscientist, and director of the Stress, Trauma, and Anxiety Research Clinic at Wayne State University School of Medicine, studies how fear and anxiety work inside the brain. In our conversation, he explains why humans evolved to be fearful, why modern life can trigger anxiety so easily, and how understanding fear may help you gain more control over it rather than letting it control you. If you've ever wondered why your mind sometimes reacts so strongly—or why anxiety can feel impossible to shut off—this discussion offers a fascinating look at what fear is actually trying to do for you and how to keep it from getting in the way of living a full life. Dr. Javanbakht is author of Afraid: Understanding the Purpose of Fear and Harnessing the Power of Anxiety (https://amzn.to/3LDJ93K). In Episode 7 of "The Fear of the Lord," Duane Sheriff defines what the fear of the Lord truly means—and why it cannot be reduced to a mere concept or religious formula. The fear of the Lord is not a tormenting fear of punishment or rejection, but a holy reverence, awe, honor, and worship that flows from a genuine revelation of who God is.Godly fear comes through genuine encounters with God. Using examples from the lives of Jesus, Job, and Moses, along with practical illustrations from everyday life, Duane explains how the fear of the Lord produces righteous judgment, obedience, humility, worship, and intimacy with God. Jesus delighted in the fear of the Lord, and Job's response in the middle of devastating loss reveals the depth of reverence and trust that godly fear produces. Blue sharks travel enormous distances, follow ocean conditions, and play an important role in healthy marine ecosystems. They are predators, but they are also ambassadors for a better understanding of sharks. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.” – Isaiah 46:11, NIV Years ago, I faced a lot of competition for a particular job I wanted. It was so competitive that I wondered whether or not I should even try. But after I prayed about whether I should go for it, I got a strong sense of peace and confidence about doing so. It was a long process! I had to develop a complex creative presentation and go through several interviews with various groups of people. Along the way, I doubted whether or not I could really get the job. I put myself through a lot of unnecessary stress worrying about the outcome. Finally, though, I turned my worries into prayers. After praying regularly about the job, I sensed that God would make a way for me to get it. Sure enough, God did open the door to that job for me. If I had trusted that God would bring that about after I’d prayed the first time, I would have saved myself all that stress I didn’t actually have to go through while waiting. In Isaiah 46:11, God assures us that he really will do what he says he’ll do in our lives. If God has spoken a truth over your life – such as that he loves you, that he’ll never leave you, or that he’ll meet all of your needs – you can really count on God doing that. It’s something you can be sure God will do! If God planned it, he is currently doing the work behind the scenes to make it happen. Just because you can’t see the result yet, because it’s not yet God’s timing for it to happen, doesn’t mean God has abandoned his work on it for you. This verse has real authority behind it. God tells us clearly that he will bring about what he says and that he will do what he has planned. The focus is entirely on God’s power, and God has unlimited power to do whatever he chooses to do. We never have to worry that God won’t be able to keep his promises to us. No matter what, God always keeps his promises. We can also be sure that none of our mistakes will ruin God’s work in our lives. God tells us in Romans 8:28 that all things will work together for our good. God can take all of our broken pieces and incorporate them into the plans he established for us before we were even born. No matter what, God will continue to work to accomplish good purposes for our lives. Jesus is the ultimate proof that what God says in Isaiah 46:11 is true. Thousands of years before Jesus was born, God said he would send a Savior. But as people waited for that to happen, generation after generation passed. People started to doubt that God would really do what he said he would do. At just the right time, though, God brought about just what he had planned and said he would do. Jesus came to Earth at exactly the best time in history to save our world from sin. Since God was faithful to fulfill the massive promise of sending us a Savior, you can trust God to fulfill the promises he has made to you personally. You can stop exhausting yourself trying to force doors open or worrying that you’ve been forgotten. You can breathe. God always tells the truth. If God said it, it’s coming. If he planned it, it’s happening. Your job isn’t to make it happen; your job is to trust the One who is already doing it. Intersecting Faith & Life: As you consider how you can trust God to do what he says he will do, reflect on these questions: What’s one promise you’re currently waiting for God to fulfill? In what ways are you currently tempted to doubt God’s promises while you wait, and how can you remind yourself of God’s faithfulness regularly? Looking back, when has God brought about a plan in your life that you once thought was impossible? Are you exhausted from trying to force a result in your own strength rather than trusting God’s timing? When you think about how God always tells the truth and how he never fails, how does that change your level of peace? In this episode, Heather sits down with longtime Elevate member Susie Inverso of Crimson Cat Studios to unpack a sales conversation that didn't go quite as expected. What started as a discussion about pricing an end-of-life pet session quickly revealed something deeper: the assumptions we make about our clients' finances, decisions, and ability to invest. Together, they explore how those hidden thoughts can affect confidence, communication, and ultimately, sales.  Key Takeaways: Don't spend your clients' money for them. Assuming what someone can or can't afford often sabotages the sales conversation before it begins. Your thoughts affect how you communicate. Hesitation, uncertainty, and assumptions are often felt by the client, even when unspoken. Clients are capable of making their own decisions. Your job is to present the options clearly—not decide what's best for their budget. Disappointment is part of business. Trying to avoid it often creates more stress than simply allowing it. Self-trust creates confidence. Believing you can handle any outcome changes the energy of every conversation. Not every "no" is permanent. Sometimes it's a timing issue, not a rejection. The timeline is often different than you expect. People may need time to think, process, and make decisions. You become unstoppable when you're willing to feel anything. Fear of disappointment, rejection, or failure loses its power when you stop avoiding those emotions. Hope is more useful than control. A flexible thought like "I might be surprised later" creates openness and possibility. Everything doesn't have to happen today. Sometimes the best thing you can do is trust the process and keep moving forward.  How many sales have you lost because you decided for your client before they decided for themselves? What if the thing holding you back isn't pricing—but the story you're telling about money? This conversation reveals a subtle mindset trap that almost every photographer falls into. Press play and discover the thought that changed everything. How to Support the Podcast: Subscribe to the podcast on iTunes or wherever you listen to podcasts. Please like, share, and leave a review. Don't Niche Down. Gate Up. (Four Legends, One Founder's Fear, and the Move That Protects Your Cash)

    Thinking Big Podcast

Here's the knot almost every founder hits. Things are working. Money is coming in. And then everyone around you starts chanting the same advice. Niche down. It sounds smart. It feels terrifying. Because the second you try it, it feels like you're about to fire the people funding your life. So I ran the question through The Room. I convened a council session inside Invisible Council AI with cognitive models of four people who have actually built fortunes on this exact decision. Alex Hormozi. Dan Kennedy. Dan Sullivan. Frank Kern. They did not politely agree. They collided. And the collision is where the gold was. Hormozi separated the two decisions everyone blends together. Kennedy reframed a niche as a farm you can dominate, not a smaller crowd to starve in. Sullivan made the call that your current clients are evidence, not your identity. Kern added the filter that changes everything. Pick the client you could win for even if you only got paid after they succeeded. The Third Mind that emerged from all four was simple and sharp. You don't announce a divorce to find a better date. You build a revenue-safe front door for the proven buyer while the old book of business quietly funds the transition. Tighter front door. Same cash register. This one is for any founder sitting on revenue they're scared to risk and a focus they're scared to commit to. Listen all the way through. The open question at the end is the one that decides whether your niche becomes a farm or a trap. What You'll Learn The two separate decisions you're accidentally blending, and why that blend is the source of the fear. Why cash flow is not the thing you protect at all costs. It's the thing that buys you time to get smarter. How to choose your ideal client from evidence instead of preference, using the clients you already have. Why a niche is not a smaller audience. It's a market small enough to dominate and rich enough to matter. The difference between revenue and complexity wearing a fake mustache. How to reposition without sending a single client a dramatic "we've evolved beyond you" announcement. The 90-day narrowing test that turns a scary identity change into a measurable experiment. The exact first move you can run this week with your last 20 clients and a spreadsheet. Chapter Markers (Times are placeholders. Map to your final audio in your host.) 00:00 — The founder's fear: niche down without blowing up revenue 00:00 — Hormozi: the two decisions you keep blending 00:00 — Pick the niche the evidence is pointing at, not the one you like 00:00 — "Your strategy is what you say no to" 00:00 — Kennedy: a niche is a farm, not a smaller crowd 00:00 — The fantasy demographic test 00:00 — Third Mind: the Cash-Flow Airlock 00:00 — Sullivan: your clients are evidence, not your identity 00:00 — The 10x Client Test 00:00 — Third Mind: the Two-Bank Niche Test 00:00 — Kern: pick who you could win for if you got paid last 00:00 — Kennedy vs Kern: ease versus richness 00:00 — Third Mind: the Revenue-Safe Front Door 00:00 — The Council Brief and your first move 00:00 — The open question: farm or elegant trap Lines From The Room (Pulled from the live council session. These are the cognitive models speaking inside Invisible Council AI.) The Hormozi model, on the real lever: "Your strategy is what you say no to. Not what you put in the Google Doc." The Kennedy model, on choosing wrong: "If the answer is no, you don't have an ICP. You have a fantasy demographic." The Sullivan model, on the trap of revenue: "Complexity disguised as cash flow." The Kern model, on the filter that matters: "Don't choose the ICP you can sell. Choose the ICP you can almost guarantee results for." The Third Mind, on the whole move: "You don't announce a divorce to find a better date." The Frameworks Named In This Session The Cash-Flow Airlock — keep serving the messy back room while the new front door only admits the proven buyer inside a conquerable farm. The Two-Bank Niche Test — deposit into the future bank while making zero withdrawals from the current bank. The 10x Client Test — if I had ten times more clients like this one, would the business get simpler, more profitable, and more energizing, or collapse under complexity. The Revenue-Safe Front Door — test the narrow ICP in media the legacy herd doesn't even consume, while the back room keeps proving appreciation to the people paying now. Your Move This Week Take your last 20 clients. Put them in a spreadsheet. Score each one on: Did they get a measurable result How easy were they to sell How profitable were they to serve How easy were they to fulfill Did serving them drain you or energize you Would you take them if you only got paid after they succeeded Would you want ten times more just like them The overlap is your first farm. Then write one sentence. "I help [specific person or company] solve [specific expensive problem] so they can achieve [specific outcome] without [specific pain]." If it doesn't exclude people, it isn't finished. Then point your next 90 days of new marketing at that person only. Back room keeps getting served. Same cash register.

Since the rebellion in the Garden, the human family has been afflicted by the sins of fear and pride. In rejecting what it means to be created in God's image, we enter the AI age with fears of uncertainty and mortality, and along with the desire to be like gods we find ourselves on a dangerous precipice. We must respond by rejecting the false promises of technology and its dehumanization. The majesty of man is restored when we model our lives on King Jesus and put his teaching into practice.

Sunday May 31st, 2026:  For weeks we've been exploring what it means to live from the Mind of Christ. We've talked about renewing our minds, carrying the word of the Lord between promise and manifestation, and learning to see life through the lens of union rather than fear. This week, the journey brings us to Jericho. Many of us were taught that Jericho is a story about endurance. Just keep marching. Don't quit. One day the walls will fall. While that's certainly true, what if the greater miracle wasn't the wall falling? What if the greater miracle was the people being transformed while they walked? In this message, Pastor Matt explores how God wasn't merely confronting Jericho. He was confronting Egypt. Fear, scarcity, insecurity, rejection, and self-preservation often follow us long after we've left old environments behind. The issue isn't always the wall in front of us. Often it's the lens through which we're viewing the wall..The real miracle was not that walls came down. The real miracle was that slaves became sons. And perhaps the breakthrough you've been praying for is not being delayed. Perhaps the Father is teaching you how to see.

SHOW NOTES:In this episode, Matt Zaun sits down with DonJay Rice for a thoughtful and practical conversation about money behaviors, identity, fear, family, and emotional health.DonJay explains that unhealthy money behaviors are rarely just about dollars and cents. They often reveal something deeper: fear, grief, control, guilt, or a misplaced sense of safety and identity. Together, Matt and DonJay unpack how money can quietly become a coping mechanism, how success can mask deeper emotional struggles, and why some of the most “financially responsible” habits can actually be destructive. They also explore retirement, over-saving, workaholism, financial enabling of children, and how unresolved childhood experiences can shape adult money patterns. DonJay shares pieces of his own story growing up in poverty, losing his mother at age 12, and becoming intensely driven by fear, and explains how that shaped his relationship with work, success, and security. This episode is a powerful reminder that money is never just about money. It is often tied to identity, safety, relationships, grief, and purpose.

What happens when you choose to completely abandon a life of "quiet desperation" and trust the invisible, benevolent forces guiding your gut? In this returning-guest episode of the Miles to Zen podcast, host Shannon Miles Halliday sits down with men's intuition coach Doug Beitz  Doug shares his deeply personal journey from witnessing his father's unfulfilled life to breaking the cycle himself. He reveals how he went from serving as a professional firefighter to building an 18-room tropical scuba dive resort in the middle of Micronesia—and later, making global headlines by successfully selling it via a viral worldwide raffle. This conversation dives deep into the practical biology of intuition, spiritual frameworks like the Gene Keys, and the sheer courage it takes to leap when the universe gives you green lights but shows you no road.  Key Takeaways • Practical Tools to Train Your Gut Instincts Actionable advice on vocalizing desires to the universe, utilizing sleep intentions (writing notes under your pillow), and letting go of the need to control others.  • The Biology of Intuition: Diet, Energy Clearing, and Pendulums How the acid-alkaline balance, Gene Keys, nature immersion, and biofeedback tools (like pendulums) literally alter your body's physical frequency to pick up intuitive signals.  • Butterfly Signs & Real-World Synchronicities Doug and Shannon trade incredible, true stories of how paying attention to physical signs in the wild—like circling butterflies—averted near-disasters and confirmed massive life choices.  Memorable Quotes "What's more scary for me... is me getting to 60 and saying two words: If only. If only I tried." — Doug Beitz "All of a sudden, the lights went green—and there wasn't just three lights, there were 75 green lights. But when I looked ahead, there was no road. It was like a cliff... I realised the road was invisible, but it was still there." — Doug Beitz Connect with Shannon Miles Halliday: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/milestozen/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@milestozen Podcast Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-miles-to-zen-podcast-with-shannon-miles-halliday/id1790460448 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3EjVDgfTg9yc5m29sKMXzQ Buzzsprout: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2440331 Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shannonhalliday/ Connect with Doug Beitz: Email: info@dougbeitz.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dougbeitz/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dougbeitz/ Website: https://buymeacoffee.com/dougbeitz Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6mQ258nugC3lyw3SpvYuoK?si=7cec409527d34438 Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/intuitive-conversations-with-doug/id1593172364 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/doug-beitz-472a4b338/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dougbeitz178

Most people define freedom as the ability to do whatever they want. But what if our wants are part of the problem? The Apostle Paul says true freedom isn't found in following every impulse or desire that comes our way. Freedom is learning to want what Jesus wants. That's why Christianity is about so much more than behavior modification. Jesus didn't simply come to forgive our sins; He came to transform our hearts. He changes what we love, what we pursue, and ultimately what we desire. That's why following Jesus can sometimes feel like a battle. Part of us still wants the old way of life. Paul calls that "the flesh." But the Holy Spirit is at work within us, shaping us into people who increasingly love what is good, true, and life-giving. The goal of the Christian life isn't simply that we stop doing bad things. The goal is that our wants begin to change. This week, pay attention to what is leading you. Is it approval? Fear? Comfort? Appetite? Anger? Or is it the Holy Spirit? Each morning, begin your day with a simple prayer: "Jesus, help me want what You want today."Because of Jesus, you don't have to earn God's acceptance. You are already loved, already accepted, and already free. The Holy Spirit is now at work helping you become the person God has declared you to be.Praise God!

Many KYE listeners will be familiar with Mike, the brilliant and prolific host of the Revolutions and, especially relevant for the purposes of this conversation, History of Rome podcasts. We discuss how the right talks about decline, their hilariously ignorant invocations of Rome, our very symptomatic obsession with political decline and dissolution, the power of nostalgia and declension narrative—and then answer audience questions! Looking at examples from the early church, the Apostle Paul, and ultimately Jesus Christ Himself, Cory explains why biblical courage is not the absence of fear but obedience in the midst of it.What does it mean to fear God rather than man?How do Christians stand firm when obedience is costly? And where does true courage come from?Join us as we examine how the Holy Spirit empowers believers to live faithfully, speak boldly, and trust Christ regardless of the consequences.

Your amygdala was built to fire under six conditions that could kill you. Now it's firing every time you pick up your phone, and Dr. Dave Rabin says that's the root of the modern mental health crisis. I sat down with Dr. Dave Rabin at the Beyond Biohacking conference in Austin to talk through what's actually happening in your nervous system. Rabin, a neuroscientist and psychiatrist who developed the Apollo wearable out of his PTSD research at the University of Pittsburgh, breaks down how trauma is a fear-learning disorder, why numbing symptoms fails 80% of people, and how the body has to relearn safety to extinguish fear. We get into the smartphone problem too: thirty minutes of scrolling feeds your brain as many social cues as a person took in over a full week in the 1950s, which tricks the fear center into thinking you're under threat when you're not. From there it goes deeper into the science of the vagus nerve, how the Apollo device uses sound-wave vibrations to add real sleep back each night, and the case for psychedelic medicines like ketamine, MDMA, and psilocybin as tools that amplify safety in a therapeutic setting and let people remake meaning around past trauma. If you're interested in mental health, trauma recovery, vagus nerve stimulation, biohacking, or the neuroscience behind why we feel so wired, this one delivers. 0:00 Meet Dr. Dave Rabin and what Apollo actually is 0:18 PTSD research origins and why numbing symptoms fails 1:59 Is the mental health crisis tied to fear and safety 2:12 How the amygdala evolved and what your phone does to it 4:40 How long it takes to retrain your nervous system 5:54 Letting your inner child roam free 7:26 The stigma around trauma and mental health 9:09 What reliably brings joy 9:59 How psychedelics are used to heal trauma Like and subscribe for the conversations on health and the mind that mainstream media won't have.

What fear is keeping you from fully trusting God? In Episode 6 of "The Fear of the Lord," Duane Sheriff exposes four major fears that paralyze believers: the fear of faces (people and peer pressure), the fear of fences (obstacles, hardships, and persecution), the fear of foes (spiritual warfare and demonic opposition), and the fear of failure (past mistakes and future uncertainties). Each of these fears represents a different battlefield where Satan attempts to accomplish his ultimate goal—separating us from the love of God and questioning whether God truly loves us.God's love, fully proven through the cross of Jesus Christ, is the foundation for overcoming every tormenting fear. Every trial, affliction, and persecution is not testing God's love for us, but revealing and strengthening our love and faithfulness toward Him. Using biblical examples like David, Moses, Paul, and Timothy, Duane explains how fear of rejection, hardship, spiritual opposition, and personal failure can keep believers from fulfilling God's purpose. This message will encourage you to trust God completely, stand firm in spiritual battles, and discover the freedom that comes from fearing God above everything else.Click for FREE offer ➡️https://pastorduane.com/landing/the-fear-of-the-lord

Damon Flowers joins me to unpack something most founders and operators only discover after repeated failure: the real battle isn't in the market—it's in the mind.We started with a simple but uncomfortable pattern.People don't usually fail because they lack skills. They fail because they can't consistently use them when it matters.Under pressure, fear shows up. Avoidance kicks in. Old identity patterns take over. And the business reflects it back almost immediately. What looks like a strategy problem is often an inner alignment problem.Damon shares his own path—from early confidence and corporate success to building businesses, getting hit by reality, and realizing that skills alone don't solve execution breakdowns. That realization led him into a deeper exploration of mindset, subconscious programming, and the hidden internal systems that actually drive decisions. Not in theory. In real behavior. We go deep into what actually changes when someone starts doing the inner work—and why it doesn't show results instantly, even when it's working.Key themes from the conversation:Most execution problems are identity problems in disguiseSkills don't matter if fear blocks consistent actionVictim mindset quietly shapes business outcomesAvoidance is often disguised as “strategy switching”The subconscious drives behavior more than conscious planningInner change creates delayed but compounding external resultsWillpower is not a long-term operating systemConsistency matters more than intensityMemorable lines:“You're not controlled by your thoughts—you're controlled by what you believe your thoughts mean.”“Most people aren't stuck because they don't know what to do. They're stuck because they don't do what they already know.”“Fear doesn't stop action directly—it just makes avoidance feel rational.”“Your business is often just a reflection of your internal operating system.”“You don't rise to your goals. You fall to your identity.”GuestDamon Flowers — Entrepreneur, operator, and mindset-focused business mentorHe works at the intersection of business execution and internal alignment, helping operators understand why performance breaks down even when the strategy is clear. Why this mattersMost people assume business failure is tactical.Wrong hires. Wrong offer. Wrong marketing. Wrong timing. But over time, a different pattern shows up.People know what to do—but don't do it consistently under uncertainty. They restart instead of iterate. They avoid discomfort instead of building tolerance for it.They confuse emotional resistance with strategic signal. And slowly, the gap between knowledge and execution becomes the real constraint. Not intelligence. Not opportunity. But internal conditioning. The uncomfortable truth is that:If your inner game doesn't support the action, no strategy survives contact with reality for long.Final takeawayThis isn't about motivation. It's about operating systems.Because once the internal pattern shifts, the external results don't require forcing anymore. They start to follow naturally—but only after enough repetition for the system to actually change. And that's the part most people underestimate:change is simple to understand, but slow to install.
