On New Year's Eve 1989, Mansfield, Ohio was rocked by the disappearance of Noreen Boyle. Her husband, prominent neurosurgeon Dr. John Boyle, insisted she had walked out after an argument. But Noreen's son, 11-year-old Collier, told a very different story—a scream in the night, suspicious behavior from his father, and threats to stay silent. When investigators dug deeper—literally—they uncovered the truth buried beneath the floor of Boyle's new home in Pennsylvania. Forensic science, from dental records to a Rolex watch frozen in time, dismantled Boyle's lies and secured his conviction. This case became one of the most publicized trials in Ohio history, second only to Sam Sheppard. It's a story of hidden abuse, the power of forensic evidence, and the extraordinary courage of a child who refused to be silenced. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

What happens when binge eating disorder and bipolar disorder collide? Research shows they co-occur in as many as one in four cases — and yet, many people living with both conditions feel completely alone. In this episode, host Gabe Howard shares his personal journey of living with bipolar disorder and binge eating disorder, including how food was his form of self-medication.Board certified psychiatrist Dr. Nicole Washington breaks down the clinical side: what binge eating disorder actually is, how it's diagnosed, and why treating it alongside bipolar disorder can get “tricky.” Listeners will learn: signs and symptoms of binge eating disorder (beyond overeating) why stability with bipolar disorder often makes binge eating easier to manage unique treatment challenges — including why the only FDA-approved medication for binge eating disorder may be destabilizing for people living with bipolar disorder Gabe and Dr. Nicole rip the lid off the shame, secrecy, and stigma surrounding binge eating disorder, especially when it coincides with bipolar disorder. With honesty and compassion, they share practical treatment insights, real hope, and a powerful reminder: You are not alone. Whether you're having trouble or supporting someone you love, this episode delivers validation, guidance, and the encouragement you need to take the next step toward healing and living your best life. "I weighed over 550 pounds and I knew that I was unhealthy. But I didn't really see binge eating disorder as a mental health problem because bipolar disorder sucked all the oxygen out of the room. And I was lucky, I did go from over 550 pounds down to the 200 that I weigh now, because I had the right interventions. I treated both bipolar disorder and binge eating disorder. But I imagine that many listeners, they don't realize the connection between these two." ~Gabe Howard, Host Our host, Gabe Howard, is an award-winning podcast host, author, and sought-after suicide prevention and mental health speaker, but he wouldn't be any of those things today if he hadn't been committed to a psychiatric hospital in 2003.Gabe also hosts Healthline's Inside Mental Health podcast has appeared in numerous publications, including Bipolar magazine, WebMD, Newsweek, and the Stanford Online Medical Journal. He has appeared on all four major TV networks, ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX. Peabody Award-nominated writer and Episode 389 guest David Fleming (“Breaker Boys: The NFL's Greatest Team and the Stolen 1925 Championship”) returns to the show to unpack one of the National Football League's most chaotic and fascinating chapters: the disaster of the 1952 Dallas Texans. In his new book,"A Big Mess in Texas: The Miraculous, Disastrous 1952 Dallas Texans and the Craziest Untold Story in NFL History," Fleming chronicles the league's first attempt to plant a professional football franchise in football-crazed Texas — a venture so ill-fated that the NFL reportedly still disavows it. Fleming guides us through the Texans' brief and turbulent existence, from their origins as the financially struggling New York Yanks to their relocation to Dallas under the ambitious but ill-prepared Miller brothers. We explore a 1–11 season riddled with logistical nightmares and meet the team's unforgettable characters: future Hall of Famers Art Donovan and Gino Marchetti, unsung heroes like Buddy Young and George Taliaferro, and a broader cast of characters who fought to keep the team afloat despite unrelenting chaos. You'll hear about rattlesnakes on the practice field, barroom brawls, bounced checks, paternity suits, one-legged trainers, humiliating defeats, a miraculous victory, strip poker with groupies, and even a future Hall of Fame coach stealing a cab. Amidst the madness, Fleming spotlights the Texans' lone shining moment: a Thanksgiving Day "home game" upset over the Chicago Bears at the Rubber Bowl in Akron, Ohio — an improbable triumph that perfectly captured the team's fleeting flashes of brilliance against a constant tide of organizational mayhem. Christianity's highest value is not tolerance! Tolerance has become a kind of religion unto itself - and a very popular one. Those who refuse to bow to the god of Tolerance will not be tolerated! What we see in Jesus isn't open-mindedness about sin, but an offer to cleanse anyone who wants to be clean. That requires certain things of His church. We began to speak about those on Friday. We're in 1 Corinthians 5, with Jim. Never Make a Decision Based on Fear Today we discuss a listener email who is afraid to go to college after being present when Charlie Kirk was shot. Decisions should never be made based on fear. They should be made on logic and reason. We talk about ways to cope with the emotions that come with seeing or experiencing a traumatic event. We cover looking at both sides of a situation and doing a cost-benefit analysis. We also talk about the 2019 study from Johns Hopkins about how Tylenol can increase the risk of Autism and ADHD for the child. The big lesson today is to Question Everything, especially what we "know" to be true. In 1980s Ohio, Jeffrey Lundgren wasn't just studying scripture — he was twisting it into something dangerous. To outsiders, he was a soft-spoken tour guide at a historic church site. But behind closed doors, Lundgren was preaching a radical new theology, gathering followers and slowly convincing them that he spoke for God. His target? The Kirtland Temple — once the holiest site in the Latter Day Saint movement. Evangelism” sounds like a scary word. You might picture guy in a suit speaking to a stadium or a guy screaming on the street corner. But what if we told you that the people Jesus called to be evangelists are…you and me? This week, Kyle shows us how evangelism isn't just to reach “those” people “out there”, but all of us are called to go not just to the ends of the earth, but to our neighbors next door. Once a lively gathering spot filled with music, laughter, and late-night crowds, the roadhouse has become just as well-known for the spirits that never seemed to leave as it is for its long and colorful past. In this week's episode of the *222 Paranormal Podcast*, we dive headfirst into the chilling lore, eerie encounters, and paranormal investigations that surround this mysterious landmark. What makes the Rock Island Roadhouse stand out isn't just its vintage character or storied history—it's the countless reports of unexplained activity that continue to this day. For decades, patrons and staff alike have shared unsettling tales: phantom footsteps echoing across empty rooms, strange cold drafts sweeping through hallways, doors slamming shut on their own, and even full-bodied apparitions appearing in the shadows. Some guests report hearing disembodied voices whispering their names, while others claim to have felt unseen hands brush against their arms. Many investigators have walked into the building expecting just another ghost hunt, only to leave with bone-chilling stories of their own. But what is it about this location that stirs up so much spiritual energy? Some believe it is tied to the building's long history of music, bar fights, and tragedy—emotions forever imprinted on the walls. Others think the land itself carries an energy that amplifies paranormal activity. The Roadhouse has stood through the passage of time, hosting generations of locals, travelers, and performers, each leaving behind a piece of themselves. Perhaps some of those pieces never fully departed. During our conversation, we share firsthand accounts of investigations inside the Roadhouse, including startling EVP recordings, strange temperature drops, and unexplained flashes of light caught on camera. We also explore the stories of those who claim to have had life-changing encounters while visiting. Did they meet the spirit of a former bartender? A lost patron who never found their way home? Or perhaps something older, something darker, that predates the roadhouse altogether? As always, we look at the balance between folklore and fact. Every haunted building carries its legends, but when the same stories are repeated time and time again by unrelated witnesses, we have to wonder—could this be proof that the Rock Island Roadhouse truly is a hotspot for supernatural activity? Whether you're a seasoned investigator, a curious listener, or someone who just loves a good ghost story, this episode is packed with chilling details and thought-provoking questions. So pour yourself a drink, dim the lights, and join us as we unlock the mysteries of the **Rock Island Roadhouse**, one of the Midwest's most haunted establishments. Tonight's guest, Debbie Robinson, had the Sasquatch-related experiences she's going to talk about on tonight's show while she was staying at a remote cabin, in the Hocking Hills, of Ohio. Before she went to the cabin, to celebrate her birthday, her family and friends knew Debbie had always wanted to go to the Hocking Hills and rent a cabin. She had heard so much about the beautiful scenery in the Hocking Hills and all the caves there so, for the longest time, she wanted to go take it all in. To celebrate her birthday in 2020, which was and is on October 31st, her family booked a cabin there that they all could go stay in, Halloween weekend that year, to celebrate Debbie's birthday that year. While it's true that the Hocking Hills are known to have beautiful scenery, caves, and a lot of other great things to offer, they're also known to have a healthy population of Sasquatch living in them. Unfortunately, that's a lesson Debbie, her children, and 6 other people, were about to learn, the hard way.If you've had a Sasquatch sighting and would like to be a guest on the show, please go to BigfootEyewitness.com and let me know. October 6-12As you begin this week's reading assignment, and you don't skip over the headnotes in Section 111, you realize this revelation was given in Salem, Massachusetts. Isn't the central leadership of the Church in Kirtland, Ohio? What is the First Presidency doing in Salem nearly 650 miles to the east and a whopping 1,500 miles from Western Missouri? Isn't this the same city of the famous Salem Witch Trials 144 years before in 1692? This will all make sense as we study together in this episode.
