Donald Trump, the world’s “greatest dealmaker” (his words), has somehow managed to walk away from Vladimir Putin with... not a lot so far in his bid to end the war in Ukraine. And that's despite Melania's handwritten 'letter of peace' to the Russian leader. Then there's a red carpet cameo and a secret backseat meeting. Amelia Lester is here to explain all. Plus, comedian Matt Rife has been cancelled… again. This time, it’s thanks to an e.l.f. cosmetics ad campaign that proves there is such a thing as bad publicity. And Taylor and Travis: he plays the role of the goofy himbo, she’s the sensible mastermind. Their New Heights interview has us asking—should you always be the smarter one in your relationship? It's Pop Culture Thursday, and Jared is dishing a headline buffet straight from Page Six. He dives into the Taylor Swift multiverse — from her “announcement of an announcement” album drop to Marvel-movie-level Easter eggs that keep superfans in overdrive. Jared riffs on Swift's internet tribalism, the romantic economics of dating her (hi, Travis Kelce), and even a snake-related bathroom demolition courtesy of Zoe Kravitz. Along the way, he skewers wild fan theories, Martha Stewart's Real Housewives shade, and Leonardo DiCaprio's so-called “mortified” pat-down. Add in Dua Lipa birthday buzz, a Vanity Fair shake-up, and one eyebrow-raising Kelly Clarkson ex subplot, and you've got an episode that's equal parts gossip, comedy, and “did he just say that?”
Yesterday, 1.3 million fans tuned in to the Kelce Brothers podcast, "New Heights", LIVE, to watch Taylor Swift. AND IT BROKE THE INTERNET. It's not easy going out as the Kevin Cronin Band, I will tell you. You can't overestimate the power of the name REO Speedwagon and that ubiquitous, winged logo. They mean a lot to people. I can sit here and say that the Kevin Cronin band is doing the same thing until I'm blue in the face, but when people see the Kevin Cronin Band, there's a question -- 'I wonder what this is gonna be?' -- whereas if you see REO Speedwagon and the winged logo on the bill, it's 'I know what that is.'"Even though he's called his decision to no longer tour "heartbreaking", Cronin will appear at select shows, like the Rock Legends Cruise in 2026. Kelly Clarkson’s emotional breaking point wasn’t just the collapse of her marriage — it was the gut punch of learning her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock had been in a relationship with her former production assistant, Brittney Marie Jones. This week Tyler Anbinder joins in to talk about his experiences advising on Gangs of New York as well as his work tracing the Irish diaspora.About our guest:Tyler Anbinder is a specialist in nineteenth-century America and the history of immigration and ethnicity in American life. His latest book, published in March 2024 by Little, Brown, is entitled Plentiful Country: The Great Potato Famine and the Making of Irish New York. That project's digital history component, created with research assistance from more than two dozen GW students, can be found at http://beyondragstoriches.org. And prior to that, in 2001, he published Five Points, a history of nineteenth-century America's most infamous immigrant neighborhood, focusing in particular on tenement life, inter-ethnic relations, and ethnic politics. His first book, Nativism and Slavery (1992), analyzed the role of the anti-immigrant, anti-Catholic Know Nothing party in the political crisis that led to the Civil War. Professor Anbinder has won fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities and held the Fulbright Thomas Jefferson Chair in American History at the University of Utrecht. He has received awards for his scholarship from the Organization of American Historians, the Columbia University School of Journalism, and the journal Civil War History. He also served as a historical consultant to Martin Scorsese for the making of The Gangs of New York.

Capping off ETR's “Summer Blockbuster Month,” we've got a man who has some experience in that department - Leonardo DiCaprio. After gaining traction with his performance in 1996's “Romeo + Juliet,” Leo stars in one of the most blockbustery blockbusters off all time - “Titanic.” It makes him a bonafide movie star, solidifies his heart throb status, and turns him into the hottest young actor in town. And tabloids can't get enough of which supermodel is on the arm of Hollywood's perennial bachelor. Leo has managed to do the near impossible in Tinseltown. He's retained his A-list, movie star status for decades now, all while keeping his private life...well, private. This week we're saddling up with The Quick and the Dead (1995), Sam Raimi's spaghetti western by way of a Looney Tunes fever dream. Sharon Stone rides into town with a score to settle, Russell Crowe tries to outrun his past, and Gene Hackman chews the scenery like it's a steak he overcooked himself. Leonardo DiCaprio is all charm and babyface bravado, and every gunfight is a crash zoom carnival of smoke, sweat, and a ticking clock. It's duels at high noon, showdowns at sundown, and the kind of over-the-top visual flair that makes you wonder if the camera's going to start shooting bullets too. We're locking, loading, and going full Raimi on this one. Did you enjoy the episode? Don't forget to hit that subscribe button and join us for more retro movie discussions! Want even more? Hi friends, happy Wednesday! You know, lately I've noticed something strange. It feels like every celebrity these days is... jacked. Like, not just in “good shape.” I'm talking veins popping out of places I didn't even know veins existed. I mean, back in the day, you had, what? 2 or 3 action stars. But now? Even the comedians are huge. Like, why is Jim from the Office looking like he's training for the Olympics?? All this got me thinking… When did we get so obsessed with muscles? Because I don't remember Leonardo DiCaprio or Harrison Ford being jacked. They were just normal dudes. Where did it start? And is it even healthy to be so muscular? Today, we're taking a little trip back in time to talk about the sweaty, sexy, and strange and Dark History of… bodybuilding. I appreciate you for coming by, and tune in next week for more Dark History. I sometimes talk about my Good Reads in the show. So here's the link if you want to check it out. We recorded this episode from the sweltering driveway at the shore. Erin vents about a frustrating Uber Eats delay that left her coffeeless. We have a special guest...Bucky, snoring beside us. Erin becomes a spay and recount a local parking dispute that spiraled into yelling and a police visit. Erin shares updates on her summer fitness journey, including an unexpected push-up challenge. We dive into local gossip about sky high lot prices and dock disputes, plus broader topics like the recent Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez wedding in Venice, Italy, which we heard cost between $50 million and drew A listers like Oprah, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Tom Brady, though it sparked protests from locals over its extravagance. We also touch on Olympic running debates, like a potential Tyreek Hill versus Noah Lyles race and a swimmer's inspiring story from the 2000 Olympics. We discuss odd findings, like more microplastics in glass bottles than plastic ones and ghost kitchens hiding behind fancy names on delivery apps. Steve from Blue's Clues is starting a new podcast for adults. Erin reads a Benjamin Franklin book to her six year old at bedtime.

Despite the attendance of guests like Tom Brady, Orlando Bloom, Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah, Bill Gates, and most of the Kardashians . . . a source says Sydney was, quote, "the most sought-after person" to hang out with. AND FINALLYThe '90s weren't THAT long ago, but the culture moves fast. Some of the movies and TV shows that came out back then haven't aged well. 1. "Seinfeld": There's a lot to offend modern sensibilities, but someone specifically mentioned the episode where Jerry was allegedly assaulted by his dentist while he was under, and it was played for laughs. 2. "Doogie Howser, M.D.": Quote, "The first episode has an adult woman pretending to seduce him . . . The second episode is about an adult woman trying to get pregnant by him."3. "Will & Grace": Quote, "I could never get through one episode without feeling that my queerness was being used as a punchline . . . being gay was either silly, or you were doomed to be alone and sad."4. "Friends": Quote, "Fat jokes, gay jokes, everyone in New York is white inexplicably, Ross sleeps with a student, sleeps with his school librarian in high school, tries to kiss his cousin, violates Rachel's boundaries . . . etc." Another brought up the transphobic stuff involving Chandler's parents.5. "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air": This person REALLY went off on Uncle Phil. Quote, "Will was a teenager dating grown women every other episode, and Phil and Vivian just let it happen. "Phil claimed to be pro-Black but voted for Reagan twice, was ashamed of his background as a pig farmer, and detested 'lowly' and working-class Black people."He blamed Will for everything that went wrong, even if he had nothing to do with it. And he was sexist and controlling AF, trying to forbid a 25-year-old Hilary from posing for Playboy or Ashley from doing anything."6. "Mrs. Doubtfire": "Between the transphobia and the part where he makes a pact with the older two kids to keep it a secret from their mom, it hasn't aged well."AND THAT IS YOUR CRAP ON CELEBRITIES!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
