Homes were destroyed, lives were uprooted, and hope felt fragile. However, during a recent spring break, hope arrived in the form of a team of students and faculty from Cedarville University led by Col. (Ret.) Greg Thompson and Dr. Patrick Oliver.The idea began in a moment of connection. Greg, who had recently moved to Ohio from Hawaii, met Mark and Dawn Brown — Hawaiian parents of a Cedarville student — during Getting Started Weekend. What started as a conversation about community turned into something much bigger: an opportunity to serve.“I reached out to the Made In Hope ministry the Browns mentioned and learned they had enough room for our group,” Greg shared. “We slept on cots — five-star location, one-star accommodations — but it was perfect.”That setting became the base for a week of powerful ministry. The team didn't just come to rebuild homes or pass out supplies — the needs had shifted. Instead, they got to rebuild hearts. Through prayer, presence, and listening, the students poured into a hurting community.“It wasn't just physical work,” Greg said. “It was about being there — about showing the love of Christ in a place that desperately needed comfort.”What the team gave may seem simple, but it left a deep impact: game nights with families, worship with locals, and heartfelt conversations with those still grieving. It was a reminder that healing isn't always measured in walls rebuilt but in souls encouraged.And the work isn't finished. I'd like to take it out to 100 yards at least, intent is to be a general purpose rifle and not just set up for deer/50 yards or less. What magnification would you guys recommend I look at/for? I w been using a cmmg 22 conversion to shoot at least 500 rds per month of drills. Normally about 150 rds at a range trip. Then I finish the range trip by shooting a mag of 55gr 556 ammo. But my rifle normally has a hard time getting through the 556 mag. Having a failure to fire every 5 or 6 rds. I'm thinking it's because of how dirty the 22 lr is. But if I do t shoot the 22 lr ammo. I get a stoppage every 2 or 3 mags. Is that normal? Should I be able to get through 100 rds without an issue? Our guest for this week is Sara Olson.  Sara (her TikTok name is SKEEETAH) is from the Wolf River area of Wisconsin which just happens to hold the highest concentration of the fungus that causes Blastomycosis. When Sara got Blastomycosis in January 2024, she thought it was 'just the flu'.  With a chest xray, she was diagnosed with pneumonia.  Several rounds of antibiotics didn't help so she did a CT scan where they found an embolism.  Still not knowing anything else, they continued treating her for bacterial pneumonia.  They did a swab of her sputum in which her health providers found no bacterial growth, but there was fungal growth.  "For some reason they didn't do fungal testing" she was admitted, released and readmitted all the while she was being treated for bacterial pneumonia.  The final hospitalization had her O2 levels drop to 30 and she was intubated, her family was called to come and say their goodbyes...  You'll have to listen to the interview to learn more.  She is lucky to be alive! Blastomycosis is a fungal infection and was linked to the Little Wolf River in Waupaca County, Wisconsin, during a summer 2015 outbreak.  People who went tubing on the river were exposed to the fungus, with 59 confirmed and 39 probable cases reported according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (W-DHS). The fungus, Blastomyces, lives in soil and decaying organic matter, and its spores can become airborne when disturbed. Inhaling these spores can cause blastomycosis, a disease primarily affecting the lungs, though it can spread to other parts of the body. While most blastomycosis cases are sporadic, this outbreak highlighted the need for awareness about this preventable cause of illness.    Key Details about the Outbreak: Cause: The outbreak was attributed to the fungus Blastomyces, which is commonly found in soil and decaying matter.    Exposure: People who participated in river tubing on the Little Wolf River were exposed to the fungus.    Symptoms: Blastomycosis can cause flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough, muscle aches, and fatigue, but it can also lead to serious health problems if not treated.    Transmission: The infection is not spread from person to person.    Treatment: Blastomycosis can be treated with antifungal medications.    Outbreak Scale: This outbreak was one of the largest in recent Wisconsin history, with 59 confirmed and 39 probable cases.    Prevention: Awareness of the potential for infection is key, especially in areas where the fungus is known to be present.    Additional Information: Endemic Area: Blastomycosis is endemic in the Ohio and Mississippi River valleys, the Great Lakes region, and the southeastern United States according to the CDC.    Symptoms: Common symptoms include cough, fever, chest pain, fatigue, and skin sores.    Risk Factors: Individuals with weakened immune systems or chronic illnesses may be more susceptible to severe illness.    Not Limited to the Wolf River: While the Little Wolf River outbreak was significant, blastomycosis can occur in other areas with suitable environmental conditions.  Blastomyces lives in moist soil in parts of North America. It's too small to see, so you can breathe it into your lungs without knowing it. There, it can grow and make you sick. It sometimes spreads to your skin or other parts of your body. It's hard to avoid breathing in Blastomyces fungus if you live in an area where it's common. While not entirely preventable, there are some steps you can take to reduce your risk of blastomycosis: Avoid disturbing large areas of dirt and dust, especially in areas near water. If your job or hobbies expose you to soil that's likely to contain Blastomyces, wear an N95 (or KN95) respirator mask to help filter the air you breathe.

The discovery of “black goo” on a boat in Ohio has created a lot of speculation, especially after it was studied by the University of Minnesota Duluth and found to have “20 DNA sequences... including one that was completely novel.” Black Goo has been seen in countless movies, tv shows, music videos, and even commercials. At its core, the black represents void and abyss, the goo being nothing but an amorphous substance or blank canvas on which to paint anything. On a more literal level, this goo is real, be it faulty asphalt or raw sewage. In the case of what was found in Ohio, it is something very genetically mysterious.  From the X Files and Prometheus the substance is an alien virus or mutagenic pathogen. In District 9 it is a biological agent. In Venom it is a symbiot. In Star Trek it is a conscious of malevolence. In Lucy the substance is a drug that eventually allows for evolution of the chapter into a super-advanced intelligence transcending space and time as a black goo computer - when IBM unveiled their quantum computer it appeared as black goo in a clear black box. A few days previous there were two reports about a creature existing between life and death, and small xenobots operating in human cells after the body has died. The strange creature was called “Sukunaarchaeum mirabile,” a name coming from Japanese mythology: Sukuna & Bikona.  Sukuna translates as “lesser name” or “small" Bikona translates as “divine” or “renown.” The name represses the deity Sukunabikona's diminutive stature and humble or lesser status. It is often depicted as a small figure riding in a tiny boat or working alongside the more prominent deity Ōkuninushi. Boats are vessels of guidance across rivers like Nile or Styx, and they also bring civilizers like Oannes, Osiris, and Quetzalcoatl. A Japanese movie called The Boy and the Heron is the recent release from Studio Ghibili, featuring a heron that acts like Charon on the river Styx. The boat in Ohio that passed black goo was also called the Blue Heron. This black substance can also be found in Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, and Spirit Away. The Japanese connection is made strange when learning that scientists from that country were working on the hybrid creature in the X Files episode Nisei, which also means second generate, relating it to the Sukuna and that which generates secondarily. In other words, Sukunabikona and Nisei are the Japanese version of homunculus, or little diminutive human which in biology acts as a symbol of sperm in the microcosm. In the macrocosm it is the comet. It must not be coincidence that since 2017 we have seen three interstellar objects pass  through our solar system: Oumuamua, Borisov and Atlas in July 2025. The latter two were comets, made distinct by their tail, essentially making them sperm - “panspermia” means the chaotic distortion of life from the sperm comet to the egg planet. The black substance has also been part of the Covid narrative, due to something called black fungus that people have coughed up. It is therefore strange to find black substances in Moderna vaccines that were pulled from the market in several prefectures in Japan. We just learned this month that AG Pam Bondi just stopped an investigation into Pfizer, a company she was once legal counsel for. This comes after her dropping the Epstein client list, part of a large intelligence gathering operation and blackmail ring largely run by the MOSSAD of Israel. Things get even strange when considering that Epstein was working on a human engineering project with scientists and genetic researchers. It must not be a coincidence that the Trump administration on day one initiated the next stage of the Stargate project, pertaining to universal cancer shots or that RFK Jr. at the HHS authorized universal and flu vaccine development. The top four leaders at Pfizer and Moderna are 75% Jewish with ties to Israel, just as the Stargate Project is 50% the same. And to top it all off, on July 4, the President existed a black cube with his wife wearing a white dress and a black strap, both of which appear to represent the Tefillin worn by Jews, the very group RFK Jr. says are the least effected by Covid. The James Sarcoma Program continues to grow, with the recent opening of the multidisciplinary Sarcoma Clinic, new and cutting-edge clinical trials and a project in Ecuador to train doctors to treat sarcoma patients. “The entire continuum of cancer care is improving and that's why it's important to have a multi-disciplinary team and clinic, so patients have access to all these advances,” said Joel Mayerson, MD, director of the James Sarcoma Program. Mayerson described the recent advances made by the Sarcoma Program. A renowned sarcoma surgeon, in recent years Mayerson has been utilizing 3D printing to create replacement “bones” for sarcoma patients. “We can take scans and create [with the 3D printer] ‘bones' the exact size of what we remove.” In a new clinical trial “we've found that if we give immunotherapy concurrently with radiation therapy it helps the radiation works better,” Mayerson said, adding “we have the first proton radiation center in Ohio and that allows us to hone the beam to a smaller area and damages less tissue.” Mayerson and the sarcoma team have been collaborating with the world-class veterinarians at Ohio State Veterinary Medical Center to create a probe that allows surgeons to see, in real time during surgery, the difference between normal tissue and tumorous tissue. Seeing the difference enables surgeons to remove less normal tissue, which leads to better function and quality of life for patients. “We used pilot data funded by Steps for Sarcoma to apply for and receive an Ohio State President's Accelerator grant,” Mayerson said. Steps for Sarcoma is the annual fundraising walk; the next Steps will be held September 21. After operating on a patient from Ecuador, Mayerson and the sarcoma team “were asked to help build the program there,” he said. An Ecuadorian surgeon spent a year at the James working with Mayerson and his team, additional physicians will be trained and “our sarcoma tumor board helps guide them in treating their sarcoma patients … This has been one of the most satisfying things I've done in my career, to know that we're impacting patients a couple thousand miles away.”

Cynthia Pfeil was born in 1934, and grew up in a quiet suburban neighborhood of White Plains, New York. Productive and independent, she swam, rode horseback, and sewed her own clothes with professional polish. Cynthia was an obedient daughter, decent student, and a reliable babysitter. Her father, a German immigrant and hardworking auto shop owner, instilled a strong work ethic, while her mother, Rose, maintained their home. Cynthia followed in her older brother's footsteps to Ohio Wesleyan University in 1952, where she studied Home Economics and met Roy “Skip” Schinagle Jr., a charismatic, well dressed, god fearing momma's boy from Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Their intense relationship would upend both of their lives and ultimately end in a Real Story followed in real time around the United States. She collaborates with native artists in Cuba and South America, and has been featured in LATINA Magazine, Chicago Magazine, and the Chicago Tribune, and on Fox and ABC.   Rebe's essays, stories, and poems appear or are forthcoming in such places as The Southern Review, The Missouri Review, Parabola, Ninth Letter, The Cincinnati Review, and the PINCH, and have earned her an Ohio Individual Excellence Award as well as fellowships from the Macondo Writers' Conference, Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Ragdale Foundation, PLAYA Residency, Hambidge Center, and Brush Creek Foundation. It isn't until she goes to Havana that she finally finds peace.   I fully expected to learn that Rebe's mother was Cuban - but she's not. However, Rebe's research about mothers and symbols of motherhood led to her Cuba where the Virgin Mary and the Cuban goddess of love, Ochún, are often intertwined. She wanted to understand this connection - and by doing so, she found healing.   Rebe started life as a dancer and choreographer, and she shines a beautiful light on Cuban dances and rituals along with their gods and saints. I was mesmerized by her ability to throw off her Western upbringing and fully immerse herself in the culture as she tried to discover what makes a mother, what defines the divine feminine, and what she remembered of her own mother.   I loved learning about the Afro-Cuban culture, their spiritual views, and the broader concept of motherhood. Superman is a 2025 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Superman. Written and directed by James Gunn, it is the first film in the DC Universe (DCU) produced by DC Studios and the second reboot of the Superman film series. David Corenswet stars as Clark Kent / Superman, alongside Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced. In the film, Superman must prove to the world that he is their protector after billionaire Lex Luthor enacts a plan to turn public opinion against him.Development on a sequel to the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film Man of Steel (2013) began by October 2014, with Henry Cavill set to reprise his role as Superman. Plans changed after the troubled production of Justice League (2017) and the Man of Steel sequel was no longer moving forward by May 2020. Gunn began work on a new Superman film around August 2022. In October, he became co-CEO of DC Studios with producer Peter Safran and they began work on a new DC Universe. Gunn was revealed to be writing the film in December. The title Superman: Legacy was announced the next month, Gunn was confirmed to be directing in March 2023, and Corenswet and Brosnahan were cast that June. The subtitle was dropped by the end of February 2024, when filming began in Svalbard, Norway. Similarities in age and geographical backgrounds make for easy conversation between Steve and his entertaining guest Leon Childers in this episode. Childers, born in eastern Kentucky, followed the path of many mountain-born boys whose families sought better jobs and better times in northern climes. For Childers, the move from the same area in which Steve's grandparents were raised, it was a move to western Ohio, particularly Fairborn, near Dayton. Steve and Leon bring the dog talk at its finest to the Gone To The Dogs microphones in an hour-plus of coon dog conversation the likes of which one won't experience from those of lesser ages. Steve is 78 and Leon is 82. Childers has owned some of the better Walker competition dogs of the past sixty years or more and has an AKC World Championship to his credit. The talk covers many of Childers' best hounds and stories about his handlers and his favorite hunts over the years. The conversation is organic. The entertainment factor is off the charts. Similarities in age and geographical backgrounds make for easy conversation between Steve and his entertaining guest Leon Childers in this episode. The Pittsburgh, Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad Company was founded in 1897 by Andrew Carnegie to haul iron ore and other products from the port at Conneaut, Ohio on the Great Lakes to Carnegie Steel Company plants in Pittsburgh and the surrounding region. At the end of 1925 B&LE operated 228 miles of road on 631 miles of track; at the end of 1970, mileages were 220 and 489. Enter our next guest who's carefully modeling the B&LE in the early 50's. Ray Brown has worked all over the United States and finally settled just west of Erie, Pennsylvania for two reasons: To experience as much snow fall as possible and to faithfully recreate the Bessemer and Lake Erie in a fifty by thirty-foot basement on a double and triple deck layout. In this hilarious yet cautionary segment of The Clay Edwards Show, host Clay Edwards crowns his "F'd Around and Found Out Champions of the Day"—a group of women in Richmond Heights, Ohio, who were caught on camera twerking on a police cruiser back in June 2025, only to be identified and charged thanks to facial recognition technology. Borrowing from a WLBT affiliate report out of Cleveland's WOIO (19 News), Clay plays the clip showing the women climbing onto the cruiser's hood and push bumper outside a hotspot in Hilltop Plaza, causing a dent and significant scratch while an officer sat inside. With help from the Northeast Ohio Regional Fusion Center and Clearview AI software—plus some social media sleuthing—detectives tracked them down, issuing warrants for rioting and criminal damaging of a police vehicle. Dagmar Braun Celeste was born in Nazi-occupied Austria, she authored her own Bachelor's degree in Women's Studies, which led her to collaborative human rights work with both Rosalyn Carter and Mother Theresa.  Dagmar eventually made her home in Ohio, and fed her passion for politics as the state's First Lady. In 2002, she was secretly ordained as a Catholic priest on the Danube River with six other women. The ordination led to her excommunication by the Roman Catholic Church.  During this episode of the Crisis Cast, Lissa & Thom get to the heart of why she accepted the call to ordination -- even when she knew it would not be accepted by the Church.  What happened to the bishop who ordained Ms. Celeste?
