In this episode of The Radio Vagabond, I sit down with Jeri Lynn Johnson Russell – a former Pan Am stewardess whose life took a dramatic turn from the skies to the villages of Africa. Over dinner in Cape Town, Jeri shares how her early travels sparked a lifelong love for adventure, how homeopathy became her calling, and how she built deep connections in the rural communities of Botswana, Eswatini, and Ghana. We talk about the lessons she learned in Africa – about generosity, humility, and the power of community. And we reflect on how, no matter where we come from, we're all guests on this planet – and we're better together. Key Takeaways How Jeri's early travels shaped her fearless curiosity about the world Why homeopathy – an alternative healing system based on “like treats like” – became a cornerstone of her work in Africa The unforgettable story of Olo and the word ‘LOVE' written on a friend's belly How local healers and communities in Africa taught her the real meaning of generosity and resilience Why Jeri believes we're better with all ages, cultures, and ways of living – and how that mindset can change everything Relevant Links Jeri's book “A Bluebird in a Baobab” on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DQ61PMRG?ref_=cm_sw_r_ffobk_cp_ud_dp_3RK2Z318GBCCASDYFJH7 National Center for Homeopathy: https://www.homeopathycenter.org/ Blog post with more details and photos: https://theradiovagabond.com/365-jeri-russell Danish version of the blog post: https://radiovagabond.dk/416-jeri-russell The Open Nesters Podcast: https://theopennesters.com Check out the brand new Nomad Summit Podcast on https://nomadsummit.com/podcast You can follow The Radio Vagabond on: https://www.facebook.com/TheRadioVagabond  https://www.youtube.com/theradiovagabond  https://twitter.com/radiovagabond https://www.tiktok.com/@radiovagabond

Ultimately, she was placed for adoption by her maternal grandmother without the knowledge or consent of her first mother. Sandi was adopted by a Black US Air Force family stationed in Panamá at the time. She was naturalized as a US citizen and then brought to the US at 3 years old. It was about this time that she asked her mom why they didn't have the same face. She grew up in Dayton, Ohio, with older siblings (biological to her adoptive father). Although she thought finding family in Panamá would be impossible, Sandi reunited with her birthmother and maternal family in 2004.

rWotD Episode 2943: Panama Canal Museum Welcome to Random Wiki of the Day, your journey through Wikipedia's vast and varied content, one random article at a time. The random article for Sunday, 25 May 2025, is Panama Canal Museum. The Panama Canal Museum (Spanish: Museo del Canal Interoceánico de Panamá) is a non-profit and public museum located in Panama City, Panama. Established in 1997, the museum is devoted to the history of the construction of the Panama Canal in its various stages, including the first French construction attempt, the later construction by the United States, and the eventual transfer to Panamanian control. This museum is located in Plaza Catedral or Independence Plaza, on the corners of 5th and 6th streets. Originally the building was the Grand Hotel, built by French businessman, George Loew, between 1874 and 1875. It was the most luxurious hotel in Panama City, however its history would be short-lived since it was sold to Count Ferdinand de Lesseps in 1881. From then on it would be the headquarters of the Universal Company of the French Interoceanic Canal. Most of the building was used for offices, except for one floor which would lodge high-ranking employees. After the French canal failure, the current Panama Canal Museum building was used by the United States Canal Commission for 4 years until they moved to Balboa in 1910. The Panamanian government bought the building in 1915 to use it as public offices. As the years passed, it deteriorated like most of the buildings in Casco Viejo. In 1996 the Board of Trustees of the Interoceanic Canal Museum was created. Restoration work started immediately and the first part of the museum was inaugurated in 1997, while the full construction took six years. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:00 UTC on Sunday, 25 May 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Panama Canal Museum on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Ivy.

If you've ever had the bad luck of getting a UTI - or urinary tract infection - you'll know how painful they can be. It's a bacterial infection which can affect the bladder, urethra or kidneys and give a burning or stinging sensation when you urinate. Yesterday, in a powerful parliamentary session, the Labour MP Allison Gardner spoke through tears as she described her experiences of chronic UTIs. The MP for Stoke-on-Trent is now hoping to launch a cross-party parliamentary group to look at chronic UTIs. Allison joined Anita Rani, along with GP Ellie Cannon. This week, the BBC launches the Women's Summer of Sport, marking the start of a bumper summer of coverage including the Euros, the Rugby World Cup and Queen's tennis tournament. The Welsh women's football team have been called 'history makers' after qualifying for the European Championship for the first time. Three of the players, Josie Green, Lily Woodham and Elise Hughes, tell us what this means for them and how they are preparing for their debut tournament. The Bombing of Pan Am 103, is a new BBC drama series. It's based on the true story of the bombing of a passenger flight over the small Scottish town of Lockerbie on 21 December 1988, in which 270 people were killed. Kathryn Turman was an assistant to a federal senator at the time of the bombing. After the trial, she joined the FBI, where she founded the agency's first-ever Victim Services Division. Her experience in the aftermath of the Pan Am bombing proved invaluable to the FBI's response to the 9/11 attacks, and she has aided victims and families throughout major moments in history, including the Las Vegas shooting and the Boston marathon bombing. She discusses her mission to help victims, and what inspired her work in public service.Five years after the murder of George Floyd, a black man, by a white police officer in Minneapolis, a new BBC documentary is reflecting on the wave of Black Lives Matter protests that followed, including in the UK. Backlash: The Murder of George Floyd tells the story through the eyes of some of those who found themselves on the frontline during the spring and summer of 2020, including Khady Gueye, who made headlines after a local protest she planned in the Forest of Dean was initially cancelled. She joined Nuala McGovern, along with author and producer Nova Reid, to reflect on the impact the events of that time have had on their lives, and what has changed since then.Liane Child's novel The Trad Wife's Secret is inspired by influencers who believe in traditional gender roles in marriage. So is this a wholesome phenomenon or a dangerous and sexist regression? And what is the appeal to the millions of people who follow 'trad wives' online? Liane Child joined Nuala along with British 'traditional housewife' and influencer Charlie Gray.Presenter: Anita Rani Producer: Annette Wells Editor: Andrea Kidd

We hear a lot about the pressures boys and young men are under and how many of them are looking to the online world - or manosphere as it's sometimes called - to find answers. Prompted by the drama Adolescence on Netflix, the topic has been in the news regularly in recent weeks. This week the Women and Equalities Select Committee heard evidence on the manosphere. Anita Rani is joined by Will Adolphy, who was a dedicated follower of the manosphere until, in his mid 20s, he had a breakdown. He went offline for five years and rebuilt his life. He is now a psychotherapist, coach, and goes to schools to speak about healthy masculinity. This week ITV has announced a shake up of the scheduling and production of its popular daytime shows including Lorraine, Loose Women and Good Morning Britain. Whilst Good Morning Britain will be extended, both Lorraine and Loose Women will see their number of shows cut. Entertainment journalist and expert on all-things TV Scott Bryan unpicks why this is happening. The Bombing of Pan Am 103 – is a new BBC factual drama series. Bowel cancer is the third most common cancer type and cause of cancer death for women. Since the early 1990s, the incidence rate in women aged 25-49 has increased by almost 60%. Bowel cancer is treatable if diagnosed early. Heather James, Deborah's mother, is fulfilling a promise to her daughter and continuing with Deborah's awareness-raising work - she and Michelle Mitchell, Chief Executive of Cancer Research UK, are in the Woman's Hour studio.Presenter: Anita Rani Producer: Kirsty Starkey

Support the show¡SUSCRÍBETE!: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1702252/subscribe
