In the second half of this series on the “Village of the Damned,” we'll go over the hunt for a murderer and the unfortunate string of deaths that followed. How did this decade of terror come to a conclusion? The end would be more bitter than sweet. Discernment: Cruciformity is Active, Not Passive. On this episode of the Voxology podcast, Mike Erre and Tim Stafford focus on discernment in faith, the essence of Christian identity, and the importance of critiquing ideologies rather than individuals. They emphasize the need for community engagement and humanizing conversations across divides, particularly in the context of immigration and societal issues. Further, Tim and Mike explore the complexities of homelessness, systemic issues, and the role of faith in addressing societal challenges. They discuss the importance of understanding the root causes of homelessness, the church's responsibility in promoting human flourishing, and the significance of inclusivity at Jesus' table. The dialogue also delves into the church's political involvement, the concept of cruciformity, and the challenges of navigating emotional overload while advocating for justice. Ultimately, they emphasize the need for a Christ-like approach to engagement in the world. Americans, we need your help to stop a dangerous AI bill from passing the Senate. What's going on? The House Energy & Commerce Committee included a provision in its reconciliation bill that would ban AI regulation by state and local governments for the next 10 years. Several states have led the way in AI regulation while Congress has dragged its heels. Stopping state governments from regulating AI might be okay, if we could trust Congress to meaningfully regulate it instead. But we can't. This provision would destroy state leadership on AI and pass the responsibility to a Congress that has shown little interest in seriously preventing AI danger. If this provision passes the Senate, we could see a DECADE of inaction on AI. This provision also violates the Byrd Rule, a Senate rule which is meant to prevent non-budget items from being included in the reconciliation bill. What can I do? Like the saying goes, "better late than never", the Camerosity Podcast is back with Episode 91, which is dedicated to cameras of the 90s.  Which 90s you prefer, 1890s or 1990s, all 90s cameras are welcome! Joining Anthony, Paul, Theo, Stephen, and Mike are returning callers, AJ Gentile, Ira Cohen, Miles Libak, Nick Marshall, Robert Rotoloni, and Will Pinkham and we cover a wide range of 1990s cameras and technologies.  Paul starts off with some stories about mini labs and how single use cameras became a big thing.  We dive into bridge cameras, including the Olympus IS-2 which Mike gave rave remarks to. We discuss a large number of point and shoot cameras including premium models by Nikon and Konica, and ponder why the Olympus Stylus Epic is so popular today.  We talk about some dead end technologies from the 90s such as Minolta's ill fated Creative Expansion and Canon's obscure barcode scanner for the EOS 10S. Not all technologies from the 1990s were failures though as the 1990s was the first decade of digital cameras.  Models like the floppy disc Sony Mavica and Nikon D1 were great cameras with a historical significance which helped prove that digital photography had arrived. We round out the discussion with why Theo loves the Mamiya 7 so much and how it compares to the Mamiya 6, Robert shares some info on the development of the Nikon S3 2000 edition, and we have a thorough discussion on Kyocera's Contax SLRs. As always, the topics we discuss on the Camerosity Podcast are influenced by you!  Please don't feel like you have to be an expert on a specific type of camera, or have the level of knowledge on par with other people on the show.  We LOVE people who are into shooting or collecting cameras, no matter how long you've been doing it, so please don't consider your knowledge level to be a prerequisite for joining! The guys and I rarely know where each episode is going to go until it happens, so if you'd like to join us on a future episode, be sure to look out for our show announcements on our Camerosity Podcast Facebook page, the Camerosity Discord server, and right here on mikeeckman.com. We usually record every other Monday and announcements, along with the Zoom link are typically shared 2-3 days in advance. For our next episode, we decided to explore the Italian camera industry as its not often discussed in camera collector circles.  While Germany, Japan, the Soviet Union, and the United States were well known as makers of fine cameras, a great number of really cool cameras were made in Italy such as the Rectaflex, Ducati Sogno, Gamma II, and other models by Bencini, Durst, and Ferrania.  Join us if you're a fan of cameras from this "boot shaped" country, and see if we can manage to fill an entire episode without getting distracted!  We will record Episode 92 on Monday, May 19th at 7pm Central Daylight Time and 8pm Eastern Daylight Time. QFF: Quick Fire Friday – Your 20-Minute Growth Powerhouse! Welcome to Quick Fire Friday, the Grow A Small Business podcast series that is designed to deliver simple, focused and actionable insights and key takeaways in less than 20 minutes a week. Every Friday, we bring you business owners and experts who share their top strategies for growing yourself, your team and your small business. Get ready for a dose of inspiration, one action you can implement and quotable quotes that will stick with you long after the episode ends! In this episode of Quick Fire Friday, host Amanda Jones interviews Michael Preece, the Connector in Chief at Business Networking Advantage Australia. Michael shares how he built a thriving statewide network of six groups across Tasmania over the past 11 years. Starting as a photographer, he leveraged his passion for genuine relationships into a powerful business referral system. Michael offers practical tips on networking, building trust, and the importance of making one meaningful new connection each week. Key Takeaways for Small Business Owners: Focus on Relationships Over Sales: Networking is not about pitching—it's about building genuine, value-driven relationships that lead to long-term business opportunities. Set Realistic Networking Goals: Don't aim to meet everyone in the room. Instead, target 3–4 meaningful conversations at each event to build quality connections. Consistently Grow Your Network: Make it a weekly habit to meet at least one new person in business. Over time, this compounds into powerful referral and support networks. Our hero crafts outstanding reviews following the experience of listening to our special guests. Are you the one we've been waiting for? Never Underestimate Who People Know: A contact may not become a client—but they might introduce you to someone who is. Treat every connection as a gateway to broader networks. Use Simple Tools Effectively: A well-organized contact system (like Outlook synced to your phone) can act as a lightweight CRM to manage relationships and follow-ups. Track and Show the Value of Networking: Leverage tools or systems that give transparency into referrals and business growth so you can clearly measure the ROI of your networking efforts. One action small business owners can take: According to Michael Preece, one action a small business owner should take is to meet one new business contact each week with the genuine intent to build a relationship—because you never know who they know or where that connection might lead. Do you have 2 minutes every Friday? Sign up to the Weekly Leadership Email. It's free and we can help you to maximize your time. Enjoyed the podcast? #172:  Ever had a seemingly small decision spiral into years of unexpected consequences? That's exactly what happened with my under-eye filler journey that began a decade ago. What should have been a simple cosmetic enhancement has turned into a persistent medical saga involving multiple dissolving procedures, surgery, and ongoing complications. The lesson? Some fillers don't dissolve naturally as promised, and under-eye treatments deserve extra caution. But life carries on with its mix of mundane and meaningful moments. My Chihuahua recently needed dental surgery at age 11 (that's 60 in dog years, by the way – forget that "multiply by seven" rule we all learned). While under anesthesia, she provided some comic relief with her tongue hanging out while struggling to stay awake standing up. The procedure also revealed a mild heart murmur, adding another dimension to pet parenthood as she approaches her senior years.Meanwhile, severe weather patterns have me contemplating tornado shelters, and my beauty routine has evolved toward more natural approaches. Face taping has become my go-to alternative to injectables – using specialized Japanese tape designed specifically for delicate facial skin to prevent sleep wrinkles. Combined with a satin bonnet for hair protection, I might look "hella scary" at bedtime, but wake up looking better than ever. As one wise person noted, "It's not about what we look like going to bed, it's what we wake up looking like."This journey has highlighted the double standard in how society views aging – celebrating men who "age like fine wine" while expecting women to somehow stay youthful naturally while also pursuing every beauty enhancement available. Perhaps the real beauty breakthrough isn't found in procedures or products, but in finding comfort with our choices and our authentic selves. If you're navigating similar beauty dilemmas or pet parent adventures, you're not alone – share your experiences with me and join the conversation. You can now send us a text to ask a question or review the show.
