Today on Notable Leaders Radio, I sit down with Noemi Beres, Co-Founder of Podcast Connections and a master organizer who helps entrepreneurs land high-quality podcast interviews to build authority and grow their businesses. Growing up as an only child in a small town in Hungary, Noemi learned early on from her parents that hard work, persistence, and consistency are the real drivers of success. After starting her career in Denmark and Ireland, she made the bold leap into entrepreneurship in 2007 despite having no formal background in sales or marketing. When personal tragedy struck in 2019, followed by the loss of her business during the 2020 pandemic, Noemi chose to push forward, rebuilding her life and launching a thriving podcast booking agency from scratch. Throughout our conversation, Noemi shares why relationships must always come before results, how leaning into art helped her navigate profound grief, and why every leader needs a "just keep going" mindset. In This Episode, We Discuss Pivot Through Crisis with Unshakable Resilience When sudden loss or market disruptions threaten your livelihood, forward momentum becomes essential. Noemi opens up about losing her father, grandmother, and business in rapid succession during 2019 and 2020, and how choosing action over dwelling on the past allowed her to rise from the ashes. Prioritize Relationships Over Results True business growth happens when you lead with heart and generosity. As an active member of the Go-Giver community, Noemi explains how building genuine, trust-based connections creates far more meaningful impact than chasing quick transactions. Embrace Storytelling and Authentic Guesting Great podcasting relies on presence, vulnerability, and active listening. Noemi breaks down what makes an extraordinary podcast guest, highlighting how sharing real human stories creates a ripple effect that helps listeners feel seen, understood, and inspired. Build Your Life on Hard Work and Consistency Success is rarely an overnight phenomenon. Noemi reflects on how her parents instilled a strong work ethic in her from an early age, demonstrating that persistent effort and daily showing up ultimately unlock long-term achievements. A Final Reflection Our circumstances may shape our story, but they don't have to determine the ending. The moment we choose to keep moving forward despite fear, tragedy, or uncertainty is the moment we step back into our own power. With persistence, genuine kindness, and a commitment to serving others, we can rebuild from any setback, cultivate deep connections, and turn our greatest challenges into lasting impact. Carry This Forward Notice What story or past setback are you holding onto that might be keeping you from taking your next step forward? Reflect Where in your business or personal life can you shift your focus from seeking results to building genuine, heart-centered relationships? Act What is one small, consistent action you will take before tomorrow to keep moving toward your goals, regardless of current challenges? In today's special episode, You Are Already Enough: Day 1 of the 8-Day Reset, Erin Bradley opens the doors and shares the complete first call of Enough Already, her 8-day autumn reset, so you can experience the shift for yourself: How an impulse (a "download" in her morning routine) became a program, why she's been brought to tears watching the transformations all week, and her invitation: 3 live calls remain (Monday-Wednesday, September 28-30), and $108 gets you in plus lifetime access to all 8 replays in a private podcast feed Why September 1st has been Erin's New Year's Day since 2014, and the origin story in full: hiring her first team member (one of her best friends), watching the business dry up to 2 closings in August 2014, then treating September 1st like New Year's Day and closing 12 in December, her best month ever at the time, and 8 in January 2015 after 8 straight years of zero January closings Beliefs are nothing more than thoughts we think on repeat, and how a thought becomes a belief, the belief becomes a story, and the story becomes the excuse for why we settle, tolerate, and play small The harvest truth: it's not about planting more seeds, it's about pruning anything that's stealing resources from what you're trying to grow (and what you're growing might be your health or your relationships, not just revenue) Why the brain resists change ("safe means same"), and how to observe the resistance with curiosity instead of judgment "Things are going really well, but…" and the reminder that whatever follows but is fear The truth about consistency: "the business isn't inconsistent, we are inconsistent" Prioritizing the pause: why presence is the greatest gift you can give anyone (starting with yourself), why answering calls exhausted or distracted is actually unprofessional, and the question that stops the "have to" spiral: says who? "I no longer cancel on myself": the hair-appointment test, and why we keep every commitment except the ones we make to ourselves Erin's backstory in pictures: the credit card declined for a $2 cup of coffee in 2008, the Go-Giver shift from go-getter to go-giver, and the 2012 year her business jumped from about 30 transactions to nearly 80 while she was drowning behind the game face The company dinner that almost made her quit, and the colleagues working until midnight after their kids went to bed The 5 reflection questions (greatest happenings, new relationships, people to thank, biggest risk, smartest decision) and the science of why they work A short guided meditation to access what Erin calls the dimmer switch of the light within, and to let your freedom number rise up without pressure or analytics The two pieces of homework: practice the pause every morning, then contact the people you thought about and thank them ("one candle can ignite the flame of an infinite number of candles") It gets to be easy, it gets to be fun, and regardless of when you're listening, the replays are yours for life at pursuingfreedom.com/enough About Erin Bradley Erin Bradley is a speaker and business coach, bestselling author, and host of the real estate podcast Pursuing Freedom. Kris Stuart spent twelve years as a firefighter and paramedic before taking Bloomin' Blinds from a family business to more than 65 franchise locations, and he leads both the same way. In this conversation with Brendon Dennewill, Kris unpacks why "proven systems" are really just a snapshot in time, how a decision-making framework built for high-stakes emergencies now runs his home office, and why he treats every franchisee relationship like a family handing over something irreplaceable. Send us Fan MailMark started his career at Ernst & Young writing transaction reports for corporates being sold, then walked away from big-business M&A to work with his dad in the family accountancy practice, the one his dad had spent 30 years turning into a growth-focused consulting firm for entrepreneurial SMEs. Years on, Mark has taken those big-firm disciplines pricing analysis, forward forecasting, Michael Porter's competitive strategy and applied them to a corner of the market where most accountancy firms rarely go beyond filing tax returns. In this conversation, he unpacks the "consulting accountant" model, the frameworks he brings to every founder, and why forward-facing beats historical every time.In this episode:Why Mark walked away from Ernst & Young's transaction services team to join his dad's accountancy practice, and the reverse psychology that seems to have workedThe "consulting accountant" phrase, borrowed from Rick Payne, and Mark's blunt take that most SME accountants are great historians but poor strategistsThe full-day (or half-day) in-person planning session that starts every client relationship, with personal objectives before business objectivesWhy he treats costs as resources: renaming the P&L, spotting the areas where founders are chronically under-investing training, marketing, peoplePeter Drucker's line that the purpose of a business is to create results outside yourself, and Michael Porter's two-part framework: create value, then capture valueWhy pricing is one of the biggest untapped levers in SME businesses, and Mark's simple rule for choosing clients if they can't get 10x the value back, don't work with themMichael Gerber's "the boss doesn't have a boss" problem, and why the accountability of a monthly meeting with an outsider often does more than any tool inside the businessOKRs (courtesy of Measure What Matters), cascading business plans, and the client who has every single person in the organisation present their own mini business plan at an annual dayRick Payne's shift from Key Performance Indicators to Key Predictive Indicators, and the "desert island" test for how few metrics you actually needThe Harkham property client (Mark's own brother-in-law and brother) that grew from six people to 30 by taking the process to heart, and the dental practice founder who stepped out of clinical work and eventually sold with far less stress than she expectedThe "Draw Toast" TED Talk exercise Mark uses to visualise how a business actually serves customers, and the moments of innovation that fall out of drawing rather than talkingHIPPO the Highest Paid Person's Opinion and why Mark's first question in a strategy session always goes to the person with the least equity and the least influence in the roomThe mini MBA programme Mark runs with Paul three topics (leadership, finance, competitive strategy), ten business owners a year, three hours a month, and a business simulation game that has founders running a fake company on eight decisions a monthWorking alongside other accountants rather than poaching them, and why Mark's firm trains 60 other accountancy firms in the same approachMark's definition of true wealth: having choices, and never playing with scared moneyA conversation about the forward-looking discipline that almost every SME accountant leaves on the table, and why the founders who get it done tend to end up with far more optionality than the ones who don't.Book and resource recommendations: The Go-Giver by Bob Burg, What is Strategy by Michael Porter (Harvard Business Review), The Goal by Eliyahu Goldratt, Measure What Matters by John Doerr, and the Happiness Lab podcast. This podcast is produced by TribunistaSponsored by Capital Partners

Dr. Karen Litzy sits down with Jennifer Burnham Grubbs, founder of Ionava, to unpack why traditional health insurance often penalizes healthy people instead of rewarding them. Jennifer draws on 21 years in the insurance industry to explain what she saw, why she built a new financial category, and how Ionava is designed to reward health-conscious behavior with greater flexibility and less friction. We discuss why healthy people often get poor value from insurance, how Ionava differs from HSAs, FSAs, and health sharing ministries, and how its wallet-based model is meant to make health financial preparedness more practical. Key topics Jennifer explains why she built Ionava after two decades as an insurance broker and consultant, including seeing denied coverage, surprise billing, and confusing utilization patterns firsthand. The episode explores the idea that healthy people often subsidize the system without getting a meaningful return, even when they follow preventive care recommendations. Karen and Jennifer compare traditional insurance with a "good driver discount" model, highlighting how insurance rarely rewards healthier behavior. Jennifer explains why Ionava is not health insurance or an HSA, but a new financial category built around health, financial preparedness, and wellness spending. The conversation covers how Ionava's wallet works, including how users can spend on qualifying health and wellness expenses, from gym memberships to supplements and cosmetic wellness categories. Jennifer contrasts Ionava with HSAs and FSAs, emphasizing that Ionava is funded through the subscription and is designed to roll over rather than expire. They also discuss health sharing ministries and why Ionava was built to be secular and broadly accessible rather than tied to religious attestation. Jennifer explains the health score quiz, how it helps price vaults, and why Ionava currently starts with the healthiest applicants to maintain actuarial discipline. The episode dives into pre-existing conditions, how current health status affects eligibility, and why some people may be asked to wait as the pool expands. Karen and Jennifer unpack how Ionava avoids the network and contracted-rate limitations that shape traditional insurance, including why cash-based purchasing offers more flexibility across states and even internationally. You practice law at a high level. So why isn't the work coming from the clients you actually want, the ones who energize you and bring out your best? If you have ever told yourself you need a better website or a slicker pitch, this conversation will change how you think about the whole thing. In this episode, Gary Miles sits down with marketing and business development coach Gary Johnson, founder of J2 Marketing Consultants, who has spent nearly three decades helping attorneys grow their practices. His premise is simple and a little disarming: most lawyers do not have a marketing problem, they have a relationship problem. Together they unpack why the instincts that make you a great litigator, talking, arguing, pitching, quietly sabotage your ability to build a book of business, and what to do instead. Gary shares how one client went from a $1.5 million book to $7.2 million by trading the pitch for genuine, insightful conversation. For any attorney who was never taught business development in law school, this is a grounded, practical roadmap.Along the way, Gary makes the case that charisma is not something you are born with. He defines it as the ability to make others feel seen, valued, and energized in your presence, and he shows why that is a learnable skill rather than a personality type. You will hear why listening takes the pressure off you and the client, why marketing from your natural strengths beats forcing yourself into tactics you hate, and why a focused inner circle of relationships outperforms chasing every possible lead. Gary also explains why choosing a narrow target market sharpens your positioning, and how confidence, results, and freedom compound over time until you have the security to choose the clients and the practice you actually want.Gary Johnson is the founder of J2 Marketing Consultants and host of a podcast on legal marketing. He helps attorneys turn relationships into revenue through customized, strengths-based strategies rather than one-size-fits-all playbooks. His work centers on neuromarketing, authentic connection, and the belief that sustainable business development is built on trust, not tactics. If this episode gave you something to think about, subscribe so you never miss a conversation, and consider leaving a review to help another attorney find the show. Does your team keep chasing more leads but can't explain why the pipeline doesn't turn into revenue? This episode is for you. Aaron Burnett, founder and CEO of Wheelhouse DMG, built his agency specifically for privacy-first industries like healthcare and medtech, and he walked me through something most agencies can't do: predicting the dollar value of a lead in real time, without ever touching protected health information. We get into why more leads is the wrong goal for most medtech marketers, how Wheelhouse's real-time propensity modeling drove a 50 percent increase in new customer starts for one large medtech client, and why Aaron's team sometimes tells prospective clients not to spend a dime with them until they fix their product or messaging first. If you are trying to make sense of measurement in a HIPAA-constrained world, wondering whether your dual funnel of patients and physicians is actually working the way you think it is, or curious about how AI fits into a performance marketing agency without replacing the experts who make it work, you will get a lot out of this conversation.Key Topics Covered"(00:00)" – Introduction"(00:07)" – The Go-Giver philosophy"(00:10)" – What Wheelhouse does and who it serves"(00:13)" – Why more leads is the wrong goal"(00:16)" – The double bind of HIPAA-regulated marketing"(00:18)" – Inside real-time propensity modeling"(00:21)" – Applying propensity modeling to HCP recruitment"(00:23)" – Building Compass, Lighthouse, and Sonar instead of buying off the shelf tools"(00:29)" – Why ABM starts with the same question Wheelhouse asks"(00:29)" – How AI has changed Wheelhouse's work"(00:34)" – Using AI to eliminate the boring parts of client reporting"(00:37)" – Where to find Aaron and WheelhouseFind The Go-Giver book here.If you are interested in discussing this or any other topic, let's have a chat. What if the reason you hesitate to name your price has nothing to do with confidence and everything to do with how clearly you understand your own value? This week, Jon Goehring and Coach Jim Johnson welcome John Ray, pricing strategist, host of the Price and Value Journey podcast with over 1,200 episodes across radio and podcasting, and author of The Generosity Mindset, for a conversation that will change how you think about pricing, influence, trust, and the way you communicate with everyone around you.John opens with a reframe that hits immediately: if you hesitate when it is time to name your fee, you do not have a confidence problem. You have a value definition problem. He walks through the mindsets that hold most professionals back, including imposter syndrome, comparison, and a tendency to define value by what they do rather than what they deliver, and explains why clients almost always see more value in your work than you do.The conversation gets rich with practical storytelling. John shares the story of a senior move management company that was pricing itself like a typical moving company until a simple reframe around emotional care and security helped them become the most expensive option and still win the business. He also unpacks the concept of generosity mindset not as a soft idea but as a genuine competitive advantage, and explains why the Go-Giver principle of being ready to receive is just as important as being ready to give.Jon and Coach draw out some of the sharpest moments of the episode when John talks about trust building through great questions, including his favorite two word follow up: say more about that. He also shares a counterintuitive approach to getting more testimonials, including why offering to draft the review yourself actually produces better results and is completely ethical, and why most professionals leave dozens of glowing endorsements on the table simply because they never ask.The episode also covers how to build genuine presence with clients and team members in unexpected ways, why the phrase feel welcome to reach out will always outperform don't hesitate to contact me, and John's specific system for tracking connections and touches to make sure relationships stay warm without feeling transactional.Whether you are a business owner trying to price with confidence, a leader trying to build trust with your team, or simply someone who wants to communicate with more authenticity and impact, this episode is packed with immediately applicable ideas.Connect with John: johnray.co Find John on LinkedIn: Listen to the Price and Value Journey podcast at: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-price-and-value-journey/id1606521863Free value conversation resources available at johnray.co

Email marketing isn't broken, what's broken is how many business owners use it. Treating subscribers like a cash machine instead of real people leads to ignored messages, unsubscribes, and missed opportunities. Today's guest, Ely Delaney, known as “the people whisperer,” helps founders, consultants, and B2B service providers create trust-first follow-up systems that turn casual contacts into long-term clients, without spamming, complicated funnels, or burning out their list. In this episode of Marketer of the Day, Ely dig into what relationship-based email marketing looks like in 2026 and beyond. Instead of pounding subscribers with daily promotions or letting a list go cold for months, Ely shows how to send simple, plain-text emails that feel like personal check-ins: sharing a favorite book, a helpful resource, or a quick insight from experience. He even walks through how he recommends “The Go-Giver” by Bob Burg in his own sequences, using that book as a conversation starter that earns replies, builds trust, and often leads to booked calls and new projects down the road. Ely explains why this style of communication is especially powerful in the B2B and high-ticket space, where CEOs and founders are allergic to hypey, templated sequences but respond to thoughtful, relevant touchpoints. You'll hear real examples, including clients who saw more replies in a few weeks than in the previous four years, and a contact who came back ten years after seeing Ely speak, simply because the follow-up never stopped providing value. Ely also shares insights from his own book, “The Follow-Up Code,” which lays out the system behind staying top of mind without becoming a pest. https://youtu.be/uA3BHhAibi4?si=55rpu5-ksHKzmj8a The conversation also tackles AI's impact on copywriting and email. Ely uses AI as a powerful brainstorming and drafting tool, but he's clear about its limits: it can accelerate the process, yet it can't replace the nuance, judgment, and “heart” of a seasoned human writer. You'll learn how to let AI help you generate topics and rough drafts while still infusing your own stories, tone, and personality, so your emails don't sound like every other generic, AI-generated post in someone's feed. If you're ready to escape “spray-and-pray” email marketing, build a smaller but hyper-engaged tribe, and use follow-up to create real conversations that lead to sales, this episode is your roadmap. Quotes: “If your email looks like a big, fancy template, people instantly know it's a blast to everyone. Strip it down to simple text and suddenly they're curious enough to actually read it.” “When you start talking to people like people and adding real value without constantly pitching, they feel heard, they feel like you care, and they feel more connected to you, and that builds know, like, trust, and loyalty.” “We're heading toward a world of small, hyper-engaged tribes surrounded by a massive ocean of generic AI noise. The people who win will be the ones who still talk to real humans.” Contact Details: Get the “Building Your Follow Up Machine” Audio Course Today Follow Ely Delaney on Facebook: The Email Marketing Strategist Connect with Ely Delaney on LinkedIn and Learn More About Automated Follow-Up Follow Ely Delaney on X for Follow-Up Tips Get Simple Automation Strategies: Follow Ely Delaney on Instagram Build A Smarter Follow-Up System: Follow Ely Delaney on TikTok Subscribe to Ely Delaney's Channel to Learn How to Convert More Leads The Follow Up Code: Seven Virtues for Building Trust Through Email on Amazon Subscribe to Meet Cool People Podcast

Live from day two of the Growth Code Conference, host Will Humphreys sits down with Scott Booher, the Chief Human Resources Consultant at Wellness Works Management Partners. Known as the "HR Guru," Scott pulls back the curtain on what it takes to scale a therapy practice without losing your mind—or your culture. In this episode, Scott shares the raw origin story of the conference and why the "connection theme" is the secret sauce that keeps 40% of their audience new each year. They dive deep into the often-dreaded world of HR, exploring how Scott helps practice owners reclaim their time by outsourcing everything from recruiting and payroll to the "difficult conversations" of terminations. If you are a business owner feeling bogged down by $25-an-hour tasks, Scott's "Go-Giver" approach is the roadmap you need to get back into your Zone of Genius.Key TakeawaysStop Doing "$25-an-Hour" Jobs As an owner, your time is your most valuable asset. If you are handling payroll, basic admin, or initial screenings, you are stalling your company's growth. Identify your Zone of Genius and delegate the rest to experts. The "Network is Your Net Worth" Rule Conferences like Growth Code aren't just for information; they are for transformation through connection. Meaningful relationships with peers and mentors provide the emotional and professional support needed to survive the "loneliness" of business ownership.Human Relationships Over Human Resources Scott reframes HR from a corporate "compliance department" to a brand-building tool. Whether you are hiring or firing, every interaction is an opportunity to protect and project your company's culture and reputation.Protect the Brand During Terminations Letting someone go doesn't have to be a bridge-burning event. By using a professional third party (like a fractional HR consultant), you can handle terminations with empathy and finality, often leaving the former employee with a positive impression of the company. The "Go-Giver" Business Model The success of Scott and Brandon's conference—and their consulting firm—is rooted in radical generosity. By giving away value and focusing on the success of their clients first, they have built a community that "begs" to work with them.Did this episode help you identify a "$25 job" you need to delegate? From Army Artillery Officer to Managing Director in Consulting Lauren Kordzik, Principal at Cameron-Brooks, sat down with Cameron-Brooks alum Pat Curran to discuss his leadership journey from the military to consulting. When Pat left the Army in 2013, he had a strong operations background and years of leading teams under pressure. After active duty, Pat started his business career at EMCOR and later continued to grow his career at CBRE and through his MBA at Penn State. Today, he serves as Managing Director at Greencastle Associates, a 100% veteran-owned consulting firm. While Pat relied on his leadership skills from the Army, Pat emphasized the importance of continuous growth and improvement. Below are some key highlights from the conversation as well as Pat's advice for evolving as a leader. Building a Leadership Style for Business When reflecting on how he adjusted his leadership style, Pat shared a few key tips: Balance confidence and humility. Know what you bring to the table, but stay open to learning. Lead from the trenches. Build trust through what you do, not just your title. Be transparent. Be willing to admit mistakes and work with people, not above them. Evolve how you lead. Command structure works in the military. In business, influence, collaboration, and reading the room matter more. In addition to advice about leadership style, Pat has advice for the aspiring consultant. Advice for Building a Career in Consulting For those looking to one day be a managing director in consulting, Pat has some advice: Work on your people skills. Technical knowledge matters, but relationships are what move your career forward. Listen first, validate what you hear, and show clients you care beyond just getting the deal. Think like an entrepreneur. Especially in smaller firms, be ready to jump in wherever you're needed and help the company win. Understand what consulting is really about. You're there to solve client problems and deliver real results. Keep reading. Pat recommends The Go-Giver, Trusted Advisor, Getting Naked by Patrick Lencioni, and What Got You Here Won't Get You There by Marshall Goldsmith. Want to hear more from Pat? Check out our full conversation on the podcast. At Cameron-Brooks, we help officers transition from the military into another fulfilling career in business. Whether you are looking to move from the military to consulting or you are looking to explore your options, we're here to help. Want to learn more about a career in consulting? In this inspiring episode, Eric Thompson welcomes Martin “Marty” Gallant, the Managing Partner and Broker at Creativ Realty in Moncton, New Brunswick. Marty shares the incredible story of how his company achieved a remarkable 72% growth in volume and nearly doubled its agent count from 25 to 42 in just two years, all within a smaller market of under 600 agents. Marty attributes this rapid success to a strong focus on company culture, which prioritizes agent well-being, teamwork over competition, and comprehensive, open-to-all training. He details their innovative "Mission Momentum" program, a gamified internal challenge that significantly boosts agent engagement and productivity. Beyond brokerage-wide initiatives, Marty also reveals his personal strategy for managing a thriving real estate business while overseeing a growing company: niching down his personal sphere to a "VIP list" of 72 key clients for highly focused, impactful service.
