Từ ngày 03-13/09/2024, Đức giáo hoàng Phanxicô sẽ thăm bốn nước Đông Nam Á và châu Đại Dương, bao gồm Indonesia, Papua New Giunea, Timor Leste và Singapore. Chuyến đi dài nhất này, gần 33 ngàn cây số, đi qua 4 quốc gia và 2 châu lục, diễn ra trong một khoảng thời gian ngắn 10 ngày, đặt ra nhiều câu hỏi về tính khả thi cho vị giáo hoàng đã 87 tuổi, phải đi lại bằng xe lăn và có nhiều vấn đề về sức khoẻ. Thông tin này đã được hoan nghênh không chỉ từ các Giáo hội Công Giáo ở các nước này, mà từ cả các lãnh đạo chính quyền và lãnh đạo các tôn giáo khác. Chuyến đi của Đức giáo hoàng Phanxicô đang được mọi người ở các nước này mong đợi.Điều đáng tiếc là trong chuyến tông du này, Việt Nam không nằm trong số các điểm đến của Ngài bất chấp những chuyển biến trong năm nay : Việt Nam vừa cho phép Tòa thánh đặt văn phòng đại diện thường trực, cũng như việc tiếp xúc đều đặn của « tổ công tác hỗn hợp » giữa Tòa Thánh và Việt Nam để tiến tới thiết lập quan hệ ngoại giao giữa hai nước.Phải chăng các nước được chọn trong chuyến tông du này đều có mục đích? Linh mục Phạm Hoàng Dũng, từ Liège, Bỉ giải thích:Theo lịch trình công bố của Phòng báo chí Vatican, Đức Phanxicô sẽ có 4 bài diễn văn chính thức và khoảng 16 bài giảng trong các thánh lễ. Chuyến đi này còn là cơ hội để Tòa Thánh bày tỏ những quan điểm của mình : Từ ngày lên địa vị giáo hoàng, Đức Phanxicô luôn kêu gọi những mục tử, những người hợp tác với ngài trong chức giám mục, linh mục đi đến các vùng ngoại vi (périphérie) để loan báo Tin mừng.Khái niệm vùng ngoại vi trong ngôn ngữ châu Âu dùng để chỉ nơi kết thúc của một thành phố, thường là những khu dân cư phức tạp, nơi mà nạn nghèo đói và các tệ nạn xã hội lan tràn. Và vì thế những con người của Đức Ki-tô phải đi đến và hiện diện ở những nơi đó để trình bày Tin mừng của Chúa.Nhưng vùng ngoại vi không chỉ giới hạn về mặt địa lý, mà nó còn mở rộng ra cả không gian chính trị, tôn giáo và kỹ thuật công nghệ, nơi mà các tôn giáo gặp gỡ để cùng xây dựng thế giới, nơi các chính sách chính trị không loại trừ con người và công nghệ mới không phá hủy nhưng xây dựng thế giới tốt đẹp hơn.Chuyến đi Mông Cổ năm 2023 là một ví dụ điển hình cho chủ trương này của Ngài. Gặp gỡ với các tôn giáo đặc trưng của Mông Cổ, Đức Phanxicô đã kêu gọi hợp tác gìn giữ và phát triển văn hoá bản sắc, nhất là sự bền vững của thảo nguyên nơi cộng đồng nhân loại cùng sinh sống.Indonesia và khẩu hiệu « Đức tin-Tình Huynh đệ-Lòng Cảm thương »Chuyến đi đến các nước châu Á đã được chuẩn bị từ năm 2020 cùng với những chuyến đi đến các nước Phi châu. Hai lục địa này có số tín hữu gia tăng không ngừng và có thể nói đây là tương lai của Giáo hội Công giáo.Thủ đô Jakarta sẽ là điểm dừng đầu tiên. Ngài là vị giáo hoàng thứ ba, sau Đức Phaolô VI (1970) và Đức Gioan-Phaolô II (1989) đặt chân đến Indonesia, quốc gia lớn nhất, đông dân nhất Đông Nam Á và có tín đồ Hồi giáo đông nhất thế giới 270 triệu người, tức chiếm đến 87% dân số Indonesia, trong khi số người theo Ki-tô giáo chiếm khoảng 11%.Theo Hồng y Ignatius Suharyo Hardioatmodjo, giáo phận Jarkarta, hai tổ chức Hồi giáo lớn nhất nước này là Muhammadiyah và Nahdlatul Ulama, « rất cởi mở và khoan dung ». Chính vì điều này, ban tổ chức đã lấy khẩu hiệu Đức tin-Tình Huynh đệ-Lòng Cảm thương (Faith-Fraternity-Compassion) làm chủ đề cho chuyến thăm.Nhân chuyến thăm này, đường hầm Terowongan Silaturahmi dài 28,3m sẽ được tổng thống Joko Widodo khánh thành trong tháng Tám này. Đường hầm nối liền Nhà thờ Chính toà Đức Mẹ Mông Triệu và Đền thờ Hồi giáo Istiqlal lớn nhất Đông Nam Á. Đây chính là biểu tượng cho cơ hội bắc cầu đối thoại với Hồi giáo tại đất nước vạn đảo.Papua New Guinea và những yếu tố bất ổnPapua New Guinea, nơi Đức Phanxicô từng hy vọng viếng thăm năm 2020 nhưng bị đại dịch Covid-19 ngăn trở, sẽ là chặng dừng chân thứ hai, nhưng đây cũng là một điểm đến chứa đựng nhiều yếu tố bất ổn.Thứ nhất, Vị khâm sứ Toà thánh, người gánh vai trò chính trong việc chuẩn bị cho chuyến đi, chỉ mới được bổ nhiệm hồi tháng 3/ 2024 sau khi vị trí này bị để trống một thời gian dài.Kế đến, từ đầu năm nay, bạo lực và bất ổn xã hội bùng phát và diễn tiến theo hướng trở nên trầm trọng. Vào tháng giêng 2024, việc cắt giảm lương của các nhân viên an ninh và đề xuất thay đổi thuế đã làm bùng phát bạo lực ở nhiều thành phố tại một đất nước có khoảng 10 triệu dân, làm hơn 22 người thiệt mạng. Thủ tướng Lames Marape đã phải ban hành tình trạng khẩn cấp trong 14 ngày. Sự việc này, theo Hồng y John Ribat, “đã phá hủy tất cả những gì mà người dân Papua New Guinea đã xây dựng trong suốt 49 năm sau khi giành độc lập”.Thêm vào đó là xung đột giữa các bộ lạc trên những vùng cao nguyên, gây chết chóc ngày càng nhiều do sự gia tăng sử dụng các vũ khí hiện đại. Những vùng cao nguyên này xa xôi hẻo lánh, nhưng có nguồn tài nguyên thiên nhiên phong phú, kể cả vàng.Nhưng bất ổn tại Papua New Guinea còn nảy sinh giữa những nhóm theo Ki-tô giáo (bao gồm Công giáo, Tin lành). Theo điều tra, có 98% người Papua New Giunea tự nhận theo Ki-tô giáo. Vì thế, những người theo Tin Lành đã vận động để thay đổi Hiến pháp theo đó Papua New Guinea sẽ là nước Ki-tô giáo. Nhưng các nhóm Công giáo chống đối; xem hành động này là “lỗi thời và gây rối loạn xã hội”. Hội đồng giám mục nước này đã gửi một lá thư chỉ trích đến Ủy ban Cải cách Hiến pháp và luật pháp : “Mặc dù Papua New Guinea đã có Kinh thánh trong Hạ viện từ năm 2015 và tự hào rằng có hơn 90% là người theo đạo Thiên chúa, chúng tôi không thấy có sự giảm bớt nào về tham nhũng, bạo lực, tình trạng vô luật pháp và hành vi xúc phạm trong các cuộc tranh luận của Quốc Hội”.Ủy ban chuẩn bị hy vọng sẽ không xảy bất ổn có thể dẫn đến việc phải hủy bỏ chuyến đi. Papua New Guinea là một quốc gia biển đảo bị ảnh hưởng trầm trọng do biến đổi khí hậu như lũ lụt, hạn hán và mực nước biển dâng cao. Những chủ đề này gần gũi với Đức Phanxicô, sẽ được nêu lên khi Ngài đề cập đến vấn đề “chăm sóc ngôi nhà chung của chúng ta” như đã nói đến trong thông điệp Laudato si' và tông huấn Laudate Deum.Đông Timor và những nghịch lý của chuyến điĐông Timor, còn được gọi là Timor-Leste, nổi bật trong bốn điểm dừng chân trong chuyến đi của Đức Giáo hoàng Phanxicô. Dân số 1,3 triệu người của quốc gia này là 97% theo Công giáo. Đông Timor tách ra khỏi Indonesia từ năm 2002, nên có thể nói đây là vị giáo hoàng thứ hai đến nước này, vì đức Gioan-Phaolo II đã đến thủ đô Dili vào năm 1989.Cộng đoàn công giáo Đông Timor mang dấu ấn của Đức cha Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo, giám mục của hòn đảo, người đoạt giải Nobel Hòa Bình do vai trò của ngài trong việc giành độc lập, nhưng sau đó bị tố cáo đã lạm dụng tình dục một số trẻ em địa phương.Khoảng 700.000 người - hơn một nửa dân số - dự kiến ​​sẽ dự Thánh lễ của Giáo hoàng vào ngày 10 tháng 9 tại thủ đô Dili.Tuy nhiên, việc chi ra đến 12 triệu đôla để đón tiếp giáo hoàng đã gây ra nhiều chỉ trích, vì 42% dân số Đông Timor sống dưới mức nghèo đói,không đủ lương thực. Mặc dù vậy, hầu hết người Công giáo đều vui mừng về chuyến thăm của Đức Giáo hoàng.Singapore: Cửa ngõ để vào Trung Quốc ?Chặng cuối của chuyến đi của Đức Phanxicô sẽ là Singapore,  nơi mà cách nay 38 năm vào năm 1986 đức Gioan-Phaolo II đã từng đặt chân đến.Ban tổ chức đã lấy khẩu hiệu Hiệp nhất và hy vọng (Unity Hope) làm chủ đề cho chuyến viếng thăm. Theo báo chí, Singapore như cách cửa mở vào vùng đất rộng lớn là Trung Quốc, vì Singapore có cộng đồng người Hoa theo Công giáo đóng vai trò quan trọng cả về chính trị và kinh tế.Singapore còn là một trung tâm tài chính và công nghệ không chỉ của vùng Đông Nam Á mà của cả thế giới. Ngày cuối cùng ở Singapore, Đức giáo hoàng sẽ gặp gỡ và chúc lành cho những người cao tuổi sống tại Saint Joseph's Home và Villa Francis Home, sau đó là cuộc gặp với các giáo sĩ và tu sĩ cao tuổi trước khi có cuộc gặp khác với giới trẻ.Điều đó như là một thông điệp về một xã hội phát triển nhưng không gạt sang bên lề những con người “khác”: người già, người thiếu phương tiện…An ninh: Vấn đề hóc búaĐảo quốc Singapore được coi là một trong những quốc gia ổn định nhất thế giới về mặt chính trị. Nhưng ngay cả ở đây, chặng cuối trong chuyến thăm của Giáo hoàng, vẫn có những rủi ro.Mối đe dọa chính không đến từ bên trong thành phố thịnh vượng với khoảng năm triệu dân, mà từ khu vực rộng lớn hơn. Tại nước láng giềng Malaysia, nơi có phần lớn dân số theo đạo Hồi, các nhóm chiến binh dự trù tổ chức các cuộc biểu tình phản đối chuyến thăm của Giáo hoàng từ ngày 11 đến 13/09. Tại nước này, trạng tâm lý chống Israel gia tăng mạnh trong bối cảnh cuộc chiến ở Gaza.Aruna Gopinath, từng là giáo sư tại Đại học Quốc phòng Malaysia, đã thẳng thắn nói với UCA News rằng "Giáo hoàng đã chọn sai thời điểm để đến [Singapore]"."Với việc Singapore được coi là ủng hộ Israel, chuyến thăm của Giáo hoàng chắc chắn sẽ kích động các nhóm ủng hộ Hồi giáo cực đoan", bà nói. "Cần phải có sự quan sát toàn diện ở Malaysia".Các chuyên gia khác nhấn mạnh khả năng xảy ra một cuộc tấn công đơn độc, như ở Indonesia, do những cá nhân bị kích động từ các tổ chức như Nhà nước Hồi giáo hoặc al-Qaeda.Một báo cáo đánh giá mối đe dọa được công bố trong năm nay cho biết "mặc dù không có dấu hiệu nào cho thấy một cuộc tấn công sắp xảy ra, nhưng mối đe dọa khủng bố đối với Singapore vẫn ở mức cao".Thành công trước khi bắt đầu ?Chưa thể nói gì bởi vì việc chuẩn bị cho một một chuyến đi dài và lâu của một vị giáo hoàng 87 tuổi có nhiều vấn đề về sức khoẻ thì rất phức tạp. Phức tạp không chỉ về chi phí cho chuyến đi mà còn về mặt an ninh trong tình hình thế giới bất ổn hiện nay. Tuy thế, điều có thể cảm nhận được là sự sẵn sàng và lòng hiếu khách của các tín hữu Công giáo hay không Công giáo và của các nhà lãnh đạo các tôn giáo và chính phủ ở các nước này.Nhân chuyến đi của Đức Giáo Hoàng, những nước xung quanh như Philippines hay Việt Nam cũng như Hồng Kông gởi phái đoàn sang Singapore. Santo Laurensius, pada waktu menjadi Diakon di Roma dan bekerja bersama dengan Paus Sixtus II pada abad ke-3, memberikan kita model pelayanan yang tulus. Tugas utamanya ialah mendampingi, mengasuh dan merawat orang-orang sakit, cacat dan terlantar. Setelah Paus Sixtus II mati terbunuh sebagai martir, Laurensius dituduh oleh penguasa sipil bahwa ia menyembunyikan harta benda Gereja. Maka ia harus dihukum mati oleh penguasa Kekaisaran Roma.   Pada waktu hendak digiring menuju tempat hukuman mati, semua anak dan orang yang diasuh dan dipeliharanya mengikuti dia. Mereka semua itu adalah “harta kekayaan” yang dimiliki Gereja, dimiliki oleh Paus, dan dimiliki oleh Diakon Laurensius. Sungguh menakjubkan. Kita bisa bayangkan bahwa tuduhan terhadap Laurensius salah, dan para penguasa sipil serta algojo yang akan mengeksekusi Laurensius dibuat heran, bahwa harta kekayaan Gereja sebenarnya ialah manusia-manusia yang tidak berdaya.   Sampai saat ini, Gereja Katolik mempunyai perhatian yang sangat istimewa kepada orang-orang sakit dan miskin. Banyak jenis orang-orang yang dalam kategori serba kekurangan masih ada di sekitar kita, di dalam masyarakat, dan di dalam Gereja kita. Tuhan Yesus pernah memberi teguran kepada Yudas Iskariot di dalam sebuah percakapan, kata-Nya “karena orang-orang miskin selalu ada padamu” (Matius 26:11), yang bagi Gereja sepanjang masa telah menjadi harta yang paling istimewa.   Karya pelayanan sosial dan ekonomi yang dilakukan Gereja sungguh menjadi penekanan utama karya Gereja di dalam dunia. Setiap ajaran magisterium selalu memberikan catatan dan usulan praktis bagi para anggota Gereja untuk menjalankan kewajiban yang mulia ini. Kita sebut saja Anjuran Apostolik Paus Fransiskus terbaru Laudate Deum tentang bahaya rusaknya lingkungan hidup dan perubahan iklim, Paus menggarisbawahi kaum lemah dan kecil yang paling terdampak. Mereka adalah sasaran utama pelayanan Gereja dan pemerintah negara.    Karya Gereja ini dirumuskan di dalam satu tugas hakiki Gereja ialah pelayanan. Dengan mengikuti kepalanya dan gurunya yaitu Yesus Kristus, setiap pelayanan Gereja tentu saja berlandaskan cinta kasih, dilakukan dalam semangat kasih, dan berbuah dalam kasih yang mempersatukan dan membebaskan. Semua ini dapat berjalan dengan baik dan berhasil jika pelayanan itu adalah pelayanan yang tulus. Kita mengatakan suatu pelayanan yang tulus kalau pelayanan itu hanya karena kasih, yaitu demi kebaikan orang yang dilayani dan tidak ada perhitungan harga, imbalan atau balasan apa pun.   Kita perlu membedakan antara pekerjaan atau profesi dan pelayanan. Pekerjaan atau profesi sangat membutuhkan sistem yang mengaturnya dan tentu saja ada imbalan atas kerja yang dibuat. Sedangkan pelayanan merupakan perbuatan kasih yang gratis atau cuma-Cuma.   Marilah kita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa ... Ya Allah, mampukanlah kami untuk selalu menjadi para pelayan yang tulus kepada sesama kami. Salam Maria ... Dalam nama Bapa ...

Amos 7: 12-15; Rs psalm 85: 9ab.10.11-12.13.14; Ephesians 1: 3-14; Mark 6: 7-13 OUR LIVES SHOULD NOT BE CONSUMPTIVE The theme for our meditation on this 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time is: Our Lives Should Not Be Consumptive. The statement in this sentence is a firm command and warning. Why be firm and as a command, because what we want to follow up on is a change in mentality or lifestyle. The change must be serious and radical. Our world is currently threatened with destruction due to the ecological crisis and climate change. Destruction can occur in all nature and including humans themselves. Cases of rubbish destroying the land. Cases of forest destruction caused by the pressure of technological interests to be fulfilled by political and economic leaders. The existing water in the earth is decreasing. Rainfall becomes uncertain. All of this is a general picture of the suffering experienced by the world today which must have a very bad impact on the lives of all mankind. Pope Francis' encyclical Laudate Deum or Praise the Lord outlines the Holy Father Francis' thoughts on climate change, the moral appeal about it and proposals to improve it. According to the Holy Father, the main cause of all these crises is the current human lifestyle which tends to be consumptive. Humans use or utilize nature excessively to the point of destroying it, but there is no effort to repair it. At a time when humans tend to use and modern industries are increasingly developing their efforts to exploit nature, this consumptive culture cannot be stopped. The Holy Father's encyclical offers one of the most basic solutions to correct human nature's greed and abuse of nature, namely a simple lifestyle. The call or even command to live simple was actually taught by the Lord Jesus himself when he was still alive in this world. He proved this by being born in an animal cage, living a very humble life relying solely on God's providence, and dying naked on the cross. On this Sunday, Jesus gives another teaching, namely that the disciples and all of us he sends to preach the Gospel should not be consumptive in the style of living and work. They must not burden themselves with a lot of personal necessities, so that the focus of attention must be on the main work of their mission to be carried out with full responsibility. The prophet Amos also freed himself from acquiring all personal matters, when he was sent by God to be a prophet for his own people. If we are not always consumptive in this life, our focus will shift to a lifestyle that is creative, productive and full of loving service to others. Let us pray. In the name of the Father... O God, may with this Sunday's celebration make us more effective in building our lives that are dignified and useful for our neighbours. Our Father... In the name of the Father...

Papež František v Laudato Si' zdůrazňuje potřebu hospodaření a všezahrnující ekologie, která zahrnuje nejen životní prostředí, ale také sociální, ekonomický a kulturní rozměr lidského života. Péče o životní prostředí a aktivita v oblasti klimatu jsou nejen současnou výzvou, ale také nedílnou součástí naší křesťanské povinnosti, zejména v kontextu trojí planetární krize, globální nespravedlnosti, nadměrné spotřeby a masivního vytěžování. V evropských volbách je proto nezbytné upřednostňovat solidaritu, potřeby a práva budoucích generací, opomíjených skupin a těch nejzranitelnějších. Účastí v demokratickém procesu mohou mladí křesťané sehrát zásadní roli při vytváření spravedlivějších a rovnějších politických uspořádání, která by upřednostňovala společné dobro, udržitelný rozvoj, ochranu životního prostředí (náš společný domov) a blahobyt budoucích generací.Otázky:Je v politice věnována dostatečná pozornost ochraně společného dobra, našeho společného domova a práv budoucích generací?Co pro mne znamenají slova "stvoření" a "společný domov"?Jak mohu přispět k zachování jejich rozmanitosti a krásy?“Nestačí myslet pouze na rovnováhu sil, ale je třeba také zajistit reakci na nové problémy a reagovat globálními mechanismy na výzvy v oblasti životního prostředí, veřejného zdraví, kultury a sociální oblasti, zejména s cílem upevnit dodržování nejzákladnějších lidských práv, sociálních práv a ochrany našeho společného domova.” papež František, Laudate Deum, 2023

Local Catholics are taking Pope Francis' climate concerns to heart, becoming a force for ecological change in their communities(0:02) Jane Linehan, director of religious studies and philosophy at Madonna University in Livonia, talks about the Franciscan values of sustainability and how the Franciscan university lives out those values, guided by Pope Francis' apostolic exhortation, Laudate Deum and its predecessor, Laudato Si'.(3:56) Danielle Conroyd, director of sustainable campus planning for the Monroe-based Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, talks about the IHM Sisters' history in Monroe and how, when needs began to change in 2009, the sisters made the decision to transform their 376,000-square-foot motherhouse in an ecologically friendly way.(10:05) Conroyd discusses the groundbreaking choice to collect graywater on the sisters' campus, recycling water from sinks and showers and reducing freshwater consumption on campus by nearly 50%.(12:50) Jane Hammang-Buhl, a member of the “Green Team” at Gesu Parish on Detroit's northwest side, talks about how Laudato Si' inspired the parish to take action in 2016. She discusses various project the parish undertook to limit its environmental impact, including the installation of gardens and collecting rainwater to reduce runoff.(17:40) Hammang-Buhl discusses Gesu's solar panels, installed on the roof of the school, which produce enough energy to cover 26% of Gesu's energy needs during the school year and 54% over the summer, as well as other sustainability practices the school implemented.(20:09) Gesu Parish is currently pursuing a relationship with a parish in Puerto Rico that is seeking to support and shelter Haitian immigrants fleeing hurricane disasters. Ce jeudi 30 novembre s'ouvre la Conférence des Parties sur les changements climatiques -COP28- qui se tiendra à Dubaï, aux Emirats Arabes Unis, jusqu'au 12 décembre. Nombreux sont les catholiques à se mobiliser afin que la COP28 soit un moment historique qui initie un "nouveau processus radical et intense", comme le rappelle le Pape François dans sa toute récente encyclique "Laudate Deum". Eloi Descamps est responsable plaidoyer pour la France et l'Europe du Mouvement Laudato Si, il revient sur les enjeux globaux et sur les différentes actions mises en place en France. Pour retouvrer les propositions du Mouvement Laudato Si : ce document (trame de prière communautaire, propositions de prière individuelle, recensement des prières pour la COP 28 organisées en France, etc.). Tối 01/11/2023, Đức giáo hoàng Phanxicô đã trả lời phỏng vấn trực tiếp trên kênh truyền hình TG24 của Ý, nói đến việc ngài sẽ đi dự Hội nghị Khí hậu toàn cầu COP28 ở Dubai. Phòng báo chí Tòa Thánh Vatican đã xác nhận và trình bày chương trình của chuyến đi của Đức Phanxicô đến thủ đô Các Tiểu Vương Quốc Ả Rập Thống Nhất từ 30/11 – 02/12. Tại đây, ngài sẽ có bài phát biểutrước hội nghị quy tụ các nguyên thủ quốc gia nhằm bàn đến những vấn đề môi trường của thế giới. Tại sao Đức giáo hoàng Phanxicô, người đứng đầu một trong những tôn giáo lớn nhất trên thế giới, với giáo lý đặt con người làm trung tâm và làm chủ vũ trụ, lại quan tâm đến vấn đề môi trường như vậy ? Linh mục Phạm Hoàng Dũng nhận định từ Liège, Bỉ.Mối tương quan giữa con người và vũ trụGiáo lý Công giáo nói gì về mối tương quan giữa con người và vũ trụ ? Trước tiên, giáo lý này đặt nền tảng trên việc hiểu thế nào về đoạn trích từ sách Sáng Thế, cuốn sách đầu tiên trong bộ Kinh Thánh. Đoạn trích nói về việc Thiên Chúa tạo dựng nên và chúc phúc lành cho con người: “Hãy sinh sôi nảy nở thật nhiều cho đầy mặt đất và thống trị mặt đất. Hãy làm bá chủ cá biển, chim trời và mọi giống vật bò trên mặt đất”.Vậy ta hiểu thế nào về câu kinh thánh này? Trong giáo lý của Công giáo, Sách Thánh được viết ra dưới sự linh hứng của Thiên Chúa, chứ không phải do sự sáng tác của con người. Mặt khác, các sách thánh lại được viết ra bằng ngôn ngữ và trong bối cảnh của một địa phương, ở đây là Israel. Chưa kể sau đó lại được dịch ra các thứ tiếng khác, như đây là bản dịch tiếng Việt và có bao nhiêu bản dịch tiếng Việt lại là vấn đề.Nhưng chúng ta không bàn về vấn đề dịch thuật ở đây. Đối với việc hiểu một bản văn Kinh thánh, phải có sự soi xét theo quan điểm của Giáo hội Công giáo, chứ không theo tự do cá nhân người đọc. Và việc đào sâu ba tầng ý nghĩa của bản văn, từ nghĩa theo mặt chữ tới nghĩa đen và nghĩa luân lý của bản văn.Đề cập dài dòng về mặt kỹ thuật ở đây nhằm mục đích cho thấy từ lâu trong Giáo hội đã có sự hiểu chưa sâu với việc đặt con người làm trung tâm hay lên trên công trình sáng tạo của Thiên Chúa. Điều này được Đức Phanxicô xác nhận và đặt lại trong tông huấn Laudate Deum (Chúng ta hãy ngợi ca Thiên Chúa), trong đó ngài tái khẳng định sự cấp bách trong vấn đề môi trường.Phải chăng Đức Phanxicô quan tâm đến vấn đề môi trường hơn các vấn đề về đạo lý khác ?Từ ngày lên kế vị Đức Benedict XVI, Đức Phanxicô đã viết hai tông huấn (Laudato Si', 2016 và Laudato Deum 2023) và triệu tập một Thượng hội Đồng các giám mục vùng Amazon 2019, mà chủ đề chính xoay quanh các vấn đề về môi trường. Trước đó, chưa có vị giáo hoàng nào làm như vậy.Đức Phanxicô là người đến từ vùng đất mà các vấn đề về đất đai, rừng cây, sông suối đụng chạm trực tiếp đến con người. Nhất là những người nghèo, những người phải bỏ sức và chính mạng sống để khai thác các nguồn tài nguyên thiên nhiên như chặt phá rừng Amazon hay khai thác quặng mỏ, nhưng chính họ lại phải sống bên lề xã hội trong những khu ổ chuột, những khu bình dân bên cạnh những trung tâm công nghiệp gây ô nhiễm. Hay những người dân sinh ra và lớn lên trên những vùng đất mà những chính sách được hoạch định bởi các nhà chính trị và các chủ doanh nghiệp khiến họ bị bứt rễ hay xua đuổi khỏi chính mảnh đất nơi họ được sinh ra và lớn lên.Cứu thế giới từ dưới lênVào ngày 4 tháng 10 năm 2023, Đức giáo hoàng Phanxicô đã ban hành Tông huấn Laudate Deum (Chúng ta hãy ngợi ca Thiên Chúa ). Đây là phần tiếp theo của tông huấn Laudato si' năm 2015, Đức Phanxicô một lần nữa kêu gọi tất cả những người có thiện chí cùng nhau hợp tác và gây áp lực lên các nhà lãnh đạo toàn cầu để giải quyết khủng hoảng khí hậu. Tông huấn này nhắc lại những lập luận đã được đưa ra trong tông huấn cách nay gần mười năm nhằm chứng minh rằng những lời tiên đoán được đưa ra gần một thập kỷ trước – theo nhiều cách khác nhau – đã được ứng nghiệm.Trong Laudato si', Đức Phanxicô nêu lên khái niệm “sinh thái toàn diện”. Để chúng ta, với tư cách cá nhân, có thể đánh giá đầy đủ mức độ nghiêm trọng của khủng hoảng khí hậu. Ngài nói rằng trước tiên chúng ta phải trải qua một “sự hoán cải sinh thái” và nhận ra mối liên hệ qua lại giữa sự hưng thịnh của chính chúng ta và sự hưng thịnh của người khác : Cả con người và sinh vật. Như ngài viết trong Laudate Deum, không gì có thể chứng minh mức độ nghiêm trọng của sự thật này một cách mạnh mẽ hơn đại dịch Covid-19. Nó “khẳng định rằng những gì xảy ra ở một nơi trên thế giới sẽ gây ra hậu quả cho toàn bộ hành tinh”.Trong Laudato si', Đức Phanxicô đã đặt ra khái niệm “mô hình kỹ trị”, một thuật ngữ gói gọn một thế giới quan tưởng tượng ra rằng “trong thực tế, sự tốt lành và sự thật tự động phát sinh từ sức mạnh của công nghệ và kinh tế”. Thế giới quan này là nguồn gốc của mọi vấn đề khiến chúng ta đau đầu.Đức Phanxicô cảnh báo rằng mô hình này sẽ tạo điều kiện cho sự tàn phá dã man hơn bao giờ hết đối với sự sống con người và thế giới, nhằm theo đuổi ảo tưởng về tiến bộ công nghệ và kinh tế. Tám năm sau, ngài viết, “chúng tôi có thể xác nhận chẩn đoán này”. Ngài coi các cuộc chiến tranh mới về tài nguyên thiên nhiên và sự trỗi dậy của trí tuệ nhân tạo là những biểu hiện của mong muốn ngoan cố hy sinh bản thân vì sự tiến bộ công nghệ và kinh tế.Vào năm 2015, Đức Phanxicô đã đề cập đến sự kém hiệu quả của các cơ cấu quyền lực địa chính trị. Sau đó, ngài đã cảnh báo rằng “sự thất bại của các hội nghị thượng đỉnh toàn cầu về môi trường cho thấy rõ ràng rằng nền chính trị của chúng ta phụ thuộc vào công nghệ và tài chính”. Việc không đảm bảo được các cam kết về việc loại bỏ nhiên liệu hóa thạch tại COP27 năm ngoái chỉ là ví dụ mới nhất cho điều này.Tuy nhiên, trong tông huấn Laudate Deum, Đức Phanxicô viết, COP28 sắp tới ở Dubai có tiềm năng trở thành “một sự kiện lịch sử tôn vinh và tôn vinh chúng ta với tư cách là con người”, nơi mà các tôn giáo cùng chung tay hợp tác trong vấn đề này.Hợp tác giữa các tôn giáo trong việc chống biến đổi khí hậuTheo chương trình của Đức Phanxicô tại Hội Nghị COP28, vào Chủ Nhật, ngày 03/12, lúc 9 giờ sáng, Đức Thánh cha sẽ tham dự buổi khánh thành, “Nhà Tín Ngưỡng - Faith Pavillon”, trong Trung tâm Hội nghị. Khu nhà này có sáu mục đích chính yếu đối với COP28 : Thứ nhất, nói lên sức mạnh của các tôn giáo và các vị lãnh đạo tôn giáo như những nhân tố thay đổi đối với các hoạt động về khí hậu. Thứ hai, nêu bật những hoạt động cụ thể từ phía các tổ chức và các cộng đoàn tôn giáo nhằm kìm hãm sự thay đổi khí hậu. Thứ ba, thúc đẩy sự liên kết ở cấp độ toàn cầu giữa các vị lãnh đạo tôn giáo nhằm cộng tác với nhau để hoạt động về khí hậu. Thứ tư, khuyến khích các vị lãnh đạo tôn giáo dấn thân đối thoại chính trị và gợi hứng về những mong ước về sự biến đổi khí hậu nơi các phái đoàn chính phủ. Thứ năm, để đạt được sự liên kết lịch sử đằng sau lời kêu gọi hành động về khí hậu, thống nhất. Và cuối cùng, tối đa hóa hoạt động tập thể của các tác nhân tôn giáo hiện diện tại Hội nghị COP28.Đây là kết quả của cuộc họp giữa đại diện của 30 vị đứng đầu các cộng đoàn tôn giáo lớn họp tại Dubai trong hai ngày 6 và 7 tháng 11, mà đại diện cho Đức Phanxicô là đức hồng y Pietro Paroli, Đức Imam của Đền thờ Hồi giáo Al-Azhar ở Cairo, Ai Cập và Đức Tổng giám mục Justin Welby của Liên hiệp Anh giáo cùng với các vị đại diện cho Chính thống giáo, Phật giáo, Do thái giáo, Hindu.Các vị này đã ký vào một tuyên bố chung tái khẳng định quyết tâm của các tôn giáo góp phần chống lại sự thay đổi khí hậu, qua sự động viên các cộng đoàn tôn giáo liên hệ, đương đầu với cuộc khủng hoảng khí hậu và thỉnh cầu các nhà lãnh đạo chính trị đề ra các hoạt động cụ thể trong Hội nghị COP28. Tuyên ngôn được trao cho vị Chủ tịch Hội nghị COP28 là hoàng thân Ahmed Al Jaber, bộ trưởng Công nghệ và Kỹ thuật tân tiến của Các Tiểu Vương Quốc Ả Rập Thống Nhất.Trong cuộc phỏng vấn dành cho Đài Vatican, Đức Hồng y Parolin khẳng định  biến đổi khí hậu là một vấn đề thuộc lãnh vực trách nhiệm của các nhà chính trị, cũng như các nhà khoa học cùng những người khác. Nhưng sở dĩ có sự dấn thân của các vị lãnh đạo tôn giáo trong lãnh vực này là vì ở đây cũng có một chiều kích luân lý đạo đức, điều mà Tòa Thánh rất nhấn mạnh. Vì thế, đây là một đề tài mà một vị lãnh đạo tôn giáo cũng có tiếng nói và có thể thêm sự thúc đẩy cho quyết tâm hiện nay của thế giới đương đầu với vấn đề này.Môi trường như điểm chung khởi đầu cho cuộc đối thoại liên tônTheo Đức cha Aldo Martinelli, đại diện tông tòa tại Các Tiểu Vương Quốc Ả Rập Thống Nhất, Oman và Yemen, Tuyên bố chung của các vị đứng đầu tôn giáo này là một "tuyên bố mạnh mẽ về ý định mà cả thế giới cần phải lắng nghe". Ngài nói tiếp, ở góc độ này, các nhà lãnh đạo tôn giáo trở thành “những người bảo vệ niềm tin và nguyện vọng của đại đa số những người sống trên hành tinh” và “tiếng nói” cho nhiều cộng đồng “không được lắng nghe”.Một sự kiện cũng được thế giới Hồi giáo chờ đợi, như được nhắc lại bởi Tổng thư ký Hội đồng Trưởng lão Hồi giáo, Mohamed Abdelsalam người Ai Cập, theo đó sự hợp tác giữa đức tin và khoa học là nền tảng, cũng như sự hiện diện của các nhà lãnh đạo tôn giáo như Đức Giáo hoàng Phanxicô, như một minh chứng nữa cho tính “khẩn cấp” của cuộc khủng hoảng.“Yếu tố liên tôn” trong việc giải quyết các vấn đề khí hậu là “điểm trung tâm” và các tín ngưỡng “có nhiệm vụ chung là bảo vệ và thúc đẩy công trình sáng tạo”, vị đại diện Tông Tòa tiếp tục. “Đó là một khía cạnh thú vị – ông nói thêm – rằng các tôn giáo có thể hội tụ về các chủ đề sinh thái, tìm ra mảnh đất màu mỡ để gặp gỡ, so sánh, đối thoại và hiểu biết”, vốn đang mở rộng để bao trùm cả “di sản tinh thần và giáo lý”.Để xác nhận tầm quan trọng, vị đại diện tông toà nhắc lại việc đã dành nhiều hơn một đoạn trong bức thư mục vụ đầu tiên gửi các tín hữu của giáo phận mà ngài đại diện được xuất bản gần đây: “Thiên Chúa kêu gọi chúng ta – Ngài viết – và thu hút chúng ta đến với Ngài qua vẻ đẹp của sinh vật và sự sống. Chúng ta khám phá ra rằng Thiên Chúa mời gọi chúng ta đến với vẻ đẹp, sự tốt lành và tình yêu. Cuộc sống là một ơn gọi, bởi vì thực tế là một sự khích lệ.” Ngài kết luận, khi chăm sóc thiên nhiên, ngôi nhà chung, người Kitô hữu tìm thấy mảnh đất màu mỡ để thực hiện sứ mệnh của mình và thiết lập mối quan hệ đối thoại với Hồi giáo và các tín đồ của các tôn giáo khác.Con người trong mối tương quan bình đẳng với thế giớiĐức Phanxicô đã nói về việc tham gia COP28 tại Dubai trong buổi đọc kinh Truyền tin trưa Chúa Nhật 12/11, trong đó ngài kêu gọi các tín hữu hiện diện tại Quảng trường Thánh Phêrô hãy cầu nguyện cho hội nghị đạt được các mục tiêu của mình. Pope Francis says he will attend the COP28 climate conference in Dubai next month, which would make him the first pontiff to attend the annual UN gathering. The pope has made addressing the climate crisis an important focus since 2015, when he published an encyclical on climate change and the environment. Last month, he doubled down on his stance with a new document – Laudate Deum. It's a scathing rebuke of the inaction by world leaders over the last eight years. As Francis takes on an even bigger role in climate activism. What does he hope to achieve? And how does this all fit into his broader legacy as leader of the world's 1.3 billion Roman Catholics. Episode 56: In this episode, host Angie Gust talks about methylene blue.  It was synthesized in 1876 as a textile dye- that is strange- right? Even as early as 1891 it was investigated for its medicinal applications. It was used in the clinic as a potent antimalarial agent and as a medical staining agent. Suffice to say methylene blue is a well-established drug with a long history of use. Turning to the environment, did you hear that did you hear that Pope Francis came out in strong support of action on the climate crisis with an Apostolic Exhortation in advance of the UN climate change conference-COP28?  It came out Oct 4 and is called Ladate Deum- Praise God. He had 73 points and 44 references. Les Semaines sociales de France organisent leur 97e édition du 24 au 26 novembre à Lyon sur le thème "Écologie, préparons-nous à un changement radical". L'occasion de s'interroger sur les liens entre radicalité et écologie. Face à un changement radical (qui lui, est certain), une action radicale est-elle nécessaire comme semble le dire le pape dans son exhortation apostolique Laudate Deum ? Les formes d'action radicales pour lesquelles optent un certain nombre de militants écologistes ne sont-elles pas le fruit d'une inaction que l'on pourrait juger elle aussi radicale ? Et le climatoscepticisme et la négation du travail des scientifiques, ne sont-ils pas aussi des expressions radicales auxquelles seul une autre radicalité peut répondre ? En même temps, ce qui est présenté comme radical fait peur à de nombreuses personnes. Dans le communiqué de presse des Semaines sociales de France on peut lire ceci : "En tenant compte de nos différences générationnelles ou politiques, et loin des recettes toutes faites, cette 97e session des Semaines sociales de France veut explorer les pistes possibles pour assurer la transition écologique.” Et on lit entre les lignes le souci de fédérer le plus grand nombre autour du bien commun. Each of those children has a future.I think he was on the same page as Pope Francis and was not afraid to call out the climate criminals who  continue to export and expand the use of coal oil and gas.  He saw their callous disregard for humanity. At the COP meetings he networked among the climate vulnerable nations to get an agreement on loss and damage. He said this was not foreign or adaptation aid. It was a payment from the world to compensate the losses they were suffering daily.He was proud of the adaptation measures taken by Bangla Desh. They used to lose thousands in cyclones or floods but now they have shelters on high ground where people can go with their livestock. Students are assigned to elderly or disabled people to assist them to the shelters and volunteers with loud hailers alert everyone. He said after the recent European floods that we could all learn from Bangla Desh to read the signs and take protective action. Fr Niall sits down with environmental duo Dr Kevin Hargaden and Dr Ciara Murphy from the Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice (JCFJ) to talk about Laudate Deum, Pope Francis' recent letter on climate change. The tone of the letter is urgent and challenging but it still strikes a note of hope. Ciara is impressed by the quality of the scientific argument while Kevin insists that this is still a spiritual letter. Fr Niall wants to know how it ought to affect our daily lives and decisions.

Christiana Zenner, PhD, returns to the podcast (see episode 4.3) for a discussion about Laudate Deum, the Apostolic Exhortation that Pope Francis recently issued as an update to his 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si': On Care for Our Common Home. We talk about some of the similarities and differences between the encyclical and the new exhortation. Some of the main themes include Pope Francis' use of scientific argumentation to refute climate denial, his critique of the United States as the world's leading carbon emitter per capita, his critique of what he calls the "technocratic paradigm" currently dominant around the globe (especially in the Global North), and his call for a global politics of multilateralism to address the climate crisis. We also discuss the usual absence of women from citations in these sorts of documents, which is remedied in Laudate Deum with a very strange reference to a well-known feminist scholar of science studies, Donna Haraway, who grew up Catholic but has taken highly critical stances toward Catholicism throughout her career. It is a document intended to follow up on his 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si', On Care for Our Common Home and sets out Pope Francis challenge to the world (not just catholics) around the climate crisis and the lack of progress in dealing with the issue. Eight years after the encyclical Laudato Si' Pope Francis published a new text “Laudate Deum” which condemns climate denial and urges the world to act swiftly to avert climate disaster. Also six young plaintiffs from Portugal are suing over 30 European countries they say have violated their rights to life by failing to act on climate change.  Patrick Parenteau is an emeritus professor at Vermont Law School and joined us to recap the recent hearing in front of a “Grand Chamber” of judges in the European Court of Human Rights and discuss what it could mean for climate action. And the 20-year U.S. war in Afghanistan brought tens of thousands of direct casualties but also dangerous pollutants that survivors are still living among.
