This week, Mercury makes a lot of moves, entering Sagittarius, aspecting Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, and presiding over the Virgo Last Quarter Moon. Neptune stations direct in Pisces. Mars relaxes with Neptune for a few hours, but then moves into industrious Capricorn. Timestamps [1:40] Mars squares Saturn (Dec. 8, 4:15 pm PST) at 25º15' Sagittarius-Pisces – a classic “one foot on the gas, one foot on the brake” transit. Slow down long enough to be sure you're going after what's truly right. [3:42] Neptune stations direct (Dec. 10, 4:23 am PST) at 29°22' Pisces, after being retrograde since July 4. During this station, there could be a general lack of clarity. Be careful with Neptune things like medications or any kind of mind- or mood-altering substances. [6:19] Mercury opposes Uranus (Dec. 10, 11:59 am PST) at 28°39' Scorpio-Taurus. Due to Mercury's recent retrograde period, this is the third and final time that this transit is exact (previously on Oct. 29 and Nov. 19). Inspiration is high and words can have a tremendous impact. [7:50] Mercury trines Neptune (Dec. 11, 2:19 am PST) at 29°22' Scorpio-Pisces, the last of three transits in this series (previously on oct. 29 and Nov. 9). It's not the very best transit for sharp analysis and logic, but intuition should be heightened, breakthroughs are possible, and the urge to create will likely be very strong. [9:39] Moon Report! Virgo Last Quarter Moon (Dec. 11, 12:52 pm PST) at 20°04' Virgo-Sagittarius. Virgo is the sign of helpers and making peace with the limitations of your financial budget, your energy, and your schedule. [11:27] Lunar Phase Family Cycle (LPFC). This is the Last Quarter (final action point) in an LPFC that began with a New Moon on Sep 14, 2023 (21º58' Virgo). The First Quarter (action point) of this LPFC was on June 13, 2024 (23º39' Virgo), and the Full Moon (awareness point) was on March 13, 2025 (23º56' Virgo). [13:25] Void-of-Course (VOC) Moon periods. The Moon in Leo squares Uranus in Taurus (Dec. 9, 8:56 pm PST). It's VOC for 2 hours, 24 minutes, then enters Virgo (11:20 pm PST). Play Netflix roulette! Use this VOC Moon period to initiate a new habit of exposing yourself to new forms of art. [15:03] The Moon in Virgo opposes Neptune in Pisces (Dec. 12, 6:51 am PST). It's VOC for 1 hour 13 minutes, then enters Libra (8:04 am PST). Be inspired by others but not unrealistically infatuated. [15:53] The Moon in Libra sextiles Mars in Sagittarius (Dec. 14, 7:36 pm PST). It's VOC for 15 minutes, then enters Scorpio (7:51 pm PST). Use this VOC Moon period to get in the habit of going after what you want with a light-hearted attitude. [16:46] Mercury enters Sagittarius (Dec. 11, 2:40 pm PST), the sign of its detriment in Sagittarius. A good transit for taking a broad overview or doing long-term thinking, questioning beliefs, initiating higher education. Mercury will be in Sagittarius until January 1, 2026. [17:55] Mercury sextiles Pluto (Dec. 13, 8:32 am PST) at 02°12' Sagittarius- Aquarius. Mercury is on the Sabian symbol 3 Sagittarius, Two men playing chess, and Pluto is on 3 Aquarius, A deserter from the navy. This is the exact aspect in a series (previously on Oct. 30 and Nov. 17). Here is an opportunity to go after something that requires great perseverance and keen perception. [20:30] Mars squares Neptune (Dec. 14, 3:44 am PST) at 29°22' Sagittarius-Pisces. Mars is on the Sabian symbol 30 Sagittarius, The Pope. Neptune is on Sabian symbol 30 Pisces, The Great Stone Face, the rock formation like a face that's idealized by a boy who grows up and begins to look like it. This is an opportunity to review what our ideals are and how we can represent them most positively. Dedicate energy to pursuits that give back to your profession or to your community. [22:59] Mars enters Capricorn (Dec. 14, 11:34 pm PST). Mars will be on the Sabian symbol 1 Capricorn, An Indian chief demanding recognition. Today's 2 topics: - The lunar roving, battery powered, 4 wheel drive "Moon Buggy" allowed astronauts on Apollo 15, 16, and 17 to travel 8 mph on the lunar surface with a maximum range of approximately 4.7 mi. Some of the rocks that these space travelers brought back, from the tiny area they were able to visit on the Moon, contained volcanic glass beads with trace amounts of trapped water inside of them.   - When the Japanese spacecraft Hayabusa visited the near Earth asteroid Itokawa in 2005 it found this 2000 foot by 800 foot elliptical world to have a variety of surface features. Instead of being a solid object like some asteroids, Itokawa is a rubble pile of boulders and pebbles held together by its tiny gravity. The total volume of pebbles seems to be comparable to the volume of large rocks and boulders which make up Itokawa , however, the depths of the pebbles or their concentration in the center remains unknown. The Moon is a “dead” world. It trembles with a few small moonquakes, and there may be occasional “burps” of gas. But for the most part, not much happens inside it. That’s definitely not the case for one of the moons of the giant planet Jupiter. Io is the most volcanically active world in the solar system. It’s covered by hundreds of volcanoes and pools of hot lava. Some of the volcanoes are larger than anything on Earth, and the lava is much hotter. The volcanoes can send gas and ash hundreds of miles high. Some of this material escapes Io completely – about one ton every second. It forms a wide “doughnut” around Jupiter. The activity is powered by a gravitational tug-of-war between Jupiter and some of its other big moons. They pull on Io in different directions. That heats Io’s interior, melting some of its rocks. A couple of recent studies found that Io has been at least this active since it was born. That suggests that Io and the other big moons have been locked into their current configuration since shortly after the birth of Jupiter itself. If that’s the case, then Io has been caught in a terrific tug-of-war for four and a half billion years. Jupiter rises above our moon this evening. The planet looks like a brilliant star – only the Moon and Venus outshine it. But you need binoculars to pick out Io and the planet’s other big moons. Tomorrow: gravitational “rings” around a galaxy. I'd like to think I'm someone who was always into the future stuff, you know? The science of Star Trek and what we'd eventually develop with technology and all of that stuff you think about as a kid watching your sci-fi or reading about the future. I was always hopeful we'd get to a point where I could really think we took some steps into making that sci-fi stuff a reality – but like, the good kind. We got there a few times. Moon landing being one of them and video phone conversations. There's plenty to point at and be amazed. But then there's AI. I won't go into the pros and cons of the tech – there's layers and layers deep of conversation to be had on that subject, philosophical or otherwise. But to just step back and look at the ripple effect of it…that's a little disheartening. There's many examples I could point to, but for the purpose of this show, it's the current prices of RAM that is just bonkers crazy with how prices have skyrocketed. It started in Covid times when people started to work from home and needed more PCs which meant more RAM. So the companies made more. Too much, actually and we had a good surplus of it. Prices were pretty great. Now we have AI and companies are snatching up all they can. Because we were in a surplus, we now find ourselves with low quantities due to all the AI companies grabbing all they can where they can. And the prices are ridiculous. Much more so, the RAM makers are starting to skip over regular consumer RAM and selling ONLY to the big tech companies. And at the risk of sounding all conspiracy theorists, the government is involved in this as well. Like, I'd say the rabbit hole goes deep, but it really doesn't. Mainly because it isn't being hidden anymore. And the more you look into it the more depressing it becomes because it absolutely shows no sign of stopping anytime soon. An AI bubble burst is the hope, but we don't know if that'll ever happen and, worse yet, if there's a chance of it happening, it is WAY off in the distant future. A lot of it feels like it's just going to get worse before it even slightly gets better. For now, I hope you're satisfied with the power of your PC, laptop, phone, watch, console, and any other device using RAM, because making upgrades to your PC or getting any of those other devices in the very near future is going to cost far more than it does now. Ubisoft, in the time since you've announced a Splinter Cell remake, your original director on the project left and has now returned. And we're still nowhere close to a release. A remake isn't even a part of the deal here but it's been so long I might make an exception. It has been 4,493 days since a new Splinter Cell game (non-animated series or guest spot in another game franchise, remake, BBC radio drama, or VR exclusive) was released. Also, there's been 5,300 job losses in the gaming industry since January 1, 2025.

The Moon forms a beautiful grouping with the planet Jupiter and the twins of Gemini tonight. Jupiter looks like a brilliant star. It’s below the Moon as they climb into view, by about 8:30. Castor, the fainter of Gemini’s twins, is to the left of the Moon. And Pollux, the brighter twin, is to the lower left. The grouping is even tighter at first light tomorrow. The Moon circles through Gemini roughly once a month – the time it takes to complete one full turn through the background of stars. If you made a movie of those passages over the years, the Moon would look like a car that can’t stay in the same lane. That’s because the Moon’s orbit around Earth is tilted a bit compared to the ecliptic – the Sun’s path across the sky. So the Moon moves back and forth across the ecliptic during its month-long cycle. It moves from about five degrees north of it, to about five degrees south. The Moon’s position on the ecliptic relative to an individual constellation doesn’t change much from month to month. Instead, it takes years to see much of a difference. In the case of Gemini, that means that every few years the Moon comes especially close to Pollux. But then it moves away, and eventually leaves a big gap – up to the width of your fist held at arm’s length. But that won’t happen again until the early 2030s, as the Moon weaves into another lane. This Moon brings us some much needed air.  After the deep searching on the emotional,  psychological, and soul levels, with Mercury in Scorpio, it is now time to shine some light into the areas of our lives that no longer fit. In other words, this Moon offers us a powerful opportunity to remove and release those situations, which may include people who are not really supportive of who you are, or who you are becoming.  This is important!  With this full moon, it is about balancing the oppositional forces in our lives.  In the sign of Gemini, there's always two things vying for our attention.  Using this full moon energy, helps to focus our direction, gain clarity and encourages us to use our intuitive insights to understand what is really beneficial and truthful, in our daily experiences.Where in your astrology map are you of two minds about something? Comet COMET 240P/NEAT with a small version of itself cruising along beside it.It is virtually impossible to predict if Vivian's fragment 240P-B will survive to make another approach to the Sun in 2033 or so.
