Kara Connolly has it all! Charisma, a commanding stage presence, an emotive voice, and that rare gift for writing songs that are simultaneously heartfelt, sincere and undeniably infectious upon first listen. Despite being a wholly independent, self-supported artist, she's been nominated for three Hollywood Music in Media Awards (Best Independent Music Video and Best Message Song/Social Impact), on the first-round GRAMMY® ballot for “Best Pop Vocal” album, and ranked in industry insider Music Connection Magazine as one of their Top 4 Unsigned Artists of the year with MC declaring, “When the artist's voice is this good and her material is both eloquent and commercial, the results are unquestionably label ready.” After the success of her first record, "Life in Rear View,” which included rave reviews in a variety of tastemaker publications such as The Line of Best Fit, Popdust, and Hollywood Life, as well as sold-out shows at Los Angeles hotspots The Hotel Cafe and Interscope's The Peppermint Club, Kara's devoted supporters (or “Karakeets” as they have so proudly claimed their fandom) had a lot to tweet about. She returned with an even bigger bang––a more developed sound and two very successful singles, “Roses” and “Something More,” resulting in noteworthy features within SPIN Magazine, Rolling Stone IN, American Songwriter, and an exclusive KTLA 5 News performance. “Something More” and its enchanting music video have received well over a quarter of a million views on YouTube and counting. “Roses” is currently charting on “What's In-Store Music” via AllAccess for spinning in retail stores such as Staples, Subway, Walmart, and Hyatt around 60K times a week. Now, Kara's back with a brand new, upcoming E.P. “California Queen” — a cathartic alt-pop record centered around self-discovery. Recorded mostly remotely during the pandemic, in collaboration with a variety of talented producers, including #1 hit-makers David Baron (Lana Del Rey, The Lumineers, Jade Bird) out in New York, and Forest Glen Whitehead (Kelsea Ballerini, Mickey Guyton) in Nashville, “California Queen'' is a triumphant take on stepping into your own power. Well-respected, independent music journal, Atwood Magazine writes, “A soaring, dramatic overhaul of the self roaring with effervescent sonics, [it's] an impassioned deep dive into a world of fracture and becoming…a refreshing take on one person's journey of depression, self-discovery, and healing – full of cathartic release and massive, arena-sized reckonings.” It's evident that Connolly believes fun and vulnerability are not mutually exclusive, and in doing so she's created a record full of memorable hooks, high energy vocals, dreamy guitars, lush backing tracks, and bold lyrics that simultaneously elicit wisdom while examining her innermost thoughts and fears. Created for the recovering people-pleasers, perfectionists, and anxious workaholics of the world, Kara muses, “I wrote these songs almost as mantras. A California Queen acknowledges their self-worth, owns their power, and embraces magic and wonder.” She continues, “California Queen is a state of mind. There is no King or Queen of California, but you can be one by trusting your intuition and making your own rules up as you go.” Whatever sort of rules Kara is making should be played by. As a songwriter, Kara has written songs that have been placed on multiple Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music editorial playlists and have received major placements within studio films, network television shows, and ads for Lionsgate, ABC, Netflix, Showtime, IKEA, NBA 2K and more. Represented by Low Profile NYC for music licensing and Malibu Artists Agency for acting, Kara shows no sign of stopping. She continuously works on new music as she simultaneously auditions for network television shows and studio films. #NewMusic #Interview #CreativeContent

Our guest today is one Sarah Harralson from Nashville, by way of Knoxville, TN. Sarah began writing songs when she was ten years old, her bluegrass musician grandfather being her biggest musical influence. After her grandfather passed in 2011, Sarah decided she would move to Nashville in 2013 to pursue music at Belmont University. Upon the release of hearing her debut EP Finally Found, in 2014 Music Connection Magazine wrote “Sarah Harralson presents honest, bare-boned recordings that are authentic.” A year later after releasing Finally Found, she was discovered by Scotty Schultz, drummer of Shooter Jennings (Waylon Jennings's son). Scotty opened up his publishing company, Raindrop Music LLC, in 2015 and after hearing Sarah's original song “Watered Down Whiskey”, he knew he wanted to sign her right away. Scotty decided he would produce her first country EP, Watered Down Whiskey, of all original songs that Sarah has either written or co-written.One of the tracks on the EP includes the song, “Radio Static” that was co-written with Johnny Garcia (lead guitar for Garth Brooks). Over time, Sarah began writing and working with Johnny, which evolved to the point where Sarah would sign her next publishing deal with Busy at Play Publishing (Johnny Garcia's company) in February 2020. During 2020, she has released singles, "Put a Rock on This Rolling Stone", "Get Lost in Some Rock 'N Roll", and holiday single, "Frosty", since signing with Busy at Play Publishing. Her 2021 singles include, "The Chance", "The America I Knew", "Love on Lease (Reimagined)", "Bottom of the Glass", and a jazz version of "Silent Night". A new single, "Whiskey History" was released on January 14th of this year. You can Sarah find her playing local shows in Nashville when she is not out of town. Her stage credibility includes opening for the likes of Aaron Tippin, Bucky Covington, and also included on festival rosters with Jason Aldean and Old Dominion as headliners. Besides performing, Sarah also produces music herself and decided to release a collaborative album, West of Me, with co-writer Christine Bauer in early 2019 that she self-produced. You can also hire her to write and record a song for you or your loved one through websites, Songfinch, SoundBetter, or Fiverr. In June 2021, she was invited to be a voting member of The Recording Academy as a vocalist and songwriter. She also plays at hospitals as a volunteer musician once a month for Musicians On Call. Sarah hopes that her music will help people in some way across the world. She is a big believer that music heals and aims to present her music in a way that is relatable for others and can heal any open wounds. For our conversation today, we'll be discussing country artist Brandy Clark and her debut record 12 Stories, which was recorded with produced Dave Brainard and released on October 22, 2013, through Slate Creek Records. Enjoy the conversation!

Hello friends! Welcome back to another episode of Festival Pass Stories podcast. This week, we're taking it back to the music scene. If you're a fan of country rock, you'll love this guest. We have singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Mark Mackay. Mark learned how to play music while growing up right outside of San Francisco, California. His parents were insistent on him learning how to play an instrument as a child, so Mark began practicing classical piano at nine years old. He admits that playing piano was not the cool thing to do in the eyes of a nine year old boy, but he's grateful that his parents made him stick with it. After deciding to transition his talents into learning how to play the guitar, and specifically country music; Mark's affinity for the art was flourishing and his career would soon follow. Already giving everything he's got to his craft, Mark's mindset was to move to LA where he attended the College of Contemporary Music, and became a musician full-time. There isn't a special formula to make it in the business; a lot of things have to go right at the same time. Mark made great connections while going to school which aided in his success. What really impressed our host Pat Tully, is that Mark climbed his way up to where he is today. What first started as playing in front of small crowds at local bars, turned into playing for bigger audiences at major music festivals and iconic venues. After releasing two EPs, Mark was named as one of the Top 100 National Live Acts by Music Connection Magazine. Mark's charisma on stage has allowed him to perform covers and original songs at places like The Ryman Auditorium. He also sang the National Anthem at AT&T Park for his hometown San Francisco Giants. Music aficionados would classify Mark's music as a mix of country and rock n' roll. Songs like “Always Rains in Portland” and “ Get Me Through the Night” showcases all of his musical ability and energy as an artist. Live events are what we live for at FPS, and Mark has toured with acts like REO Speedwagon, Luke Bryan, and Keith Urban. We hope that Mark continues his trajectory to become Country Music royalty himself. We really appreciate Mark for coming on to the show, so please show support by listening to his latest EP, “Leaving California” on Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms. Make sure to also connect with him on social media and visit his website for bookings and tour dates. “It's like a golf game. In the music business, you want to get far and everything needs to be firing on all cylinders. Lightning's got to strike when everything is working. It's really hard to do.” - Mark Mackay Catch the interview on Festival Pass Stories! https://festivalpass.com/stories You can find Mark on: Mark Mackay's Website: http://www.markmackayofficial.net Mark Mackay's Twitter: https://twitter.com/m2mackay Mark Mackay's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/markmackay/ Mark Mackay's Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/markmackayofficial/ Connect with Festival Pass! At 14 year sold, Kaatii —born Anna Katherine— calls the shots. While most young teens spend their free time at the mall, playing video games or watching movies, Kaatii is busy making music that's featured on the CW33, KXT91.7FM, Wish107.5 LA and a variety of music industry taste maker publications such as Pop Matters, VENTS, Dallas Observer, and Music Connection Magazine. She's consistently in the studio, writing with artists twice her age, and working on her craft. As collaborator, award-nominated singer-songwriter, Kara Connolly, puts it, “She's playing the guitar, providing a playlist of reference tracks, selecting sounds, sending mix notes and confirming revisions... Kaatii is the real deal. She's driving the ship. ”When you think of a 14-year-old singer, what typically comes to mind is the Disney Channel —Hannah Montana— not the introspective, fearless, alt-rock, indie-pop artist that she is.
“Sarah Harralson presents honest, bare-boned recordings that are authentic,” stated Music Connection Magazine after hearing her debut singer-songwriter EP, Finally Found, in 2014. Her authenticity lies in her lyrics based on true stories followed by melodies that will be stuck in your head hours after hearing it. An authentic storyteller and straight shooter, she is not afraid to tell it like it is in her music. This Knoxville native began writing songs when she was ten years old, her bluegrass musician grandfather being her biggest musical influence. She was surrounded by genres such as country, rock 'n roll, soul, and pop growing up, but the storytelling aspect of country is what ultimately drew Harralson to pursuing that genre. After her grandfather passed in 2011, Sarah decided she would move to Nashville two years later to pursue music at Belmont University. A year after releasing her debut EP in 2014, she was discovered by Scotty Schultz, drummer of Shooter Jennings (Waylon Jennings's son). Scotty opened up his publishing company, Raindrop Music LLC, in 2015 and after hearing Sarah's original song “Watered Down Whiskey”, he knew he wanted to sign her right away. This would be Sarah's first publishing deal. Scotty decided he would produce her first country EP, Watered Down Whiskey, of all original songs that Sarah has either written or co-written. "This EP will help many people and hopefully some will have their heart healed by her emotional lyrics," stated Music Update Central after hearing the release of her second EP in February 2018. Sarah's country influences range from The Dixie Chicks to Brandy Clark to Johnny Cash with the vocals sounds of Jewel and Alanis Morissette, which comes across on her second EP, Watered Down Whiskey. Scotty Schultz of Raindrop Music, LLC stated that, “she is a driven woman who deserves to be heard,” and the stories will definitely be heard. One of the tracks on the EP includes the song, “Radio Static” that was co-written with Johnny Garcia (lead guitar for Garth Brooks). Her new single, "The Chance" will be released on June 4th and is available for pre-save now. https://sarahharralson.com/You can find her playing local shows in Nashville when she is not out of town. Besides writing her own material, she has also co-written songs cut by other artists such as "Tennessee" by Whippoorwill, "Thirsty" by Natalia Soul, and "It'll Be Alright" by Rob Murphy to name a few. She also plays at hospitals as a volunteer musician once a month for Musicians On Call. Sarah hopes that her music will help people in some way across the world. She is a big believer that music heals and aims to present her music in a way that is relatable for others and can heal any open wounds.

As a recording artist, Skye has worked with Michael Blum (Producer), James Lugo, Phil Brown, Bobby Moore, Ry Welch, Skip Saylor and David Longoria, among others. "Canada's Prince of Piano" – that's how the Beijing Times, China's leading English-language newspaper, described Canadian pianist and composer Martin Mayer. His music has been defined as instrumental fusion – a combination of smooth jazz, classical, pop, and rock. Mayer's European roots add a good share of thoughtful and longing soul, his North American education contributes a healthy dose of high-octane energy. An explosive mix. After Mayer realized musicianship was who he was, he would study at Royal Conservatory of Music, major in piano performance at Grant MacEwan University and win the Rachel McKeown Memorial Award for composition. A Chinese Arts Agency took Martin Mayer on a 16-city six-week long concert tour in mainland China in 2001. It would become the biggest tour of any artist in China's modern history, and all of his tour dates since then would be sold out. He entertained thousands in concert, and millions on Chinese TV. The "Outstanding Alumnus" winner at the Alberta Provincial Awards Celebrating Excellence was also featured by the Czech National Radio Orchestra in a live concert of his music, recorded and broadcast live from one of Prague’s most historic music venues. Mayer’s latest album, Unbreakable, was listed as one of the Top 25 New Music Critiques of 2018 (Music Connection Magazine, December 2018), attracting radio airplay from across the globe. It is one of the few independent Canadian records available on Chinese music-streaming platforms QQ, NetEase, QianQian and Kuwo. Canada's National Post predicts that Martin Mayer is "poised to take over the world stage," while VOGUE of Taiwan opines that the pianist's "passion for music ... can only be described as breath-taking," and an A&R Factory Music Blog concludes: "Thankfully there are artists such as Martin Mayer to inject a bit of excitement and panache into the format of the pop-piano.

Today I'm chatting with Parker Matthews who releases his new single, “Hit and Run” today. A little background on Parker: He was touched by the power of music at a very early age when he saw Whitney Houston sing “I Will Always Love You” on the 1994 Grammy Awards. From focusing on creativity and music in school to staying up nights writing songs, he knew music would be a driving force in his life. He also found solace in his music as his younger years were impacted by bullying and depression. Instead of letting the bullies win, he pulled himself up and became the artist he is today. He also uses those dark times as an inspiration to advocate for LGBTQ youth by supporting The National Foundation for Suicide Prevention. With musical inspirations that include Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Adele, Jennifer Hudson and Jessie J, Parker says his music is about the message of human connection. And speaking of connections, he was one of Music Connection Magazine's 2017'S Hot 100 Live Unsigned Artists & Bands. Let's first take a listen to his new single, “Hit and Run” and then chat with Parker Matthews. "Hit and Run" is now available on all digital download sites.

Everyone learns from those who came before and in music it is no different. Those Heavy Metal and Hair Metal bands Troy and Randy listened to (and still do) from the 80's were influenced by the bands and artists from the 60's and 70's. On this episode the boys talk about bands like Led Zeppelin, The Animals, The Stones, Grand Funk Railroad and more. So tell us, who else could have been on that list? In keeping with the theme of this episode, check out the cool sounds of Porno Wolves. Porno Wolves are a premium blend of blues, psychedelia, sex appeal and rock ‘n’ roll. The four-piece has erected their authentic sound on a foundation of musicianship and the classic rock canon. Fuzzed out leads, complex riffs, thought provoking lyrics, dense harmonies, and driving beats come together to create what Music Connection Magazine describes as “a whole lot of sound.” For this and every other episode of Ouch You're on my Hair, please subscribe to us on iTunes, Podomatic, Google Play, Stitcher, or Player FM. Abby Posner from Abby and the Myth has been described as the most criminally undiscovered musician out there and Music Connection Magazine has described her sound as the kind of band that music fans are always hoping to stumble across. I would describe Abby as a loving, giving soul who finds a way to be of service whether through or her music or her many other endeavors such as her work with teens through,

She literally moved up from the subway to Carnegie Hall and many venues in between. Her resume already includes 12 albums, countless jingles, and over 25 theatrical productions, as well as working with established musicians such as Carlos Santana, Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, The Fifth Dimension, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Desi Arnaz, Jr., Alphonse Mouzon, Brandon Fields, and Eric Marienthal..
