The Daily Blast: Trump Rages at Fresh Iran Setbacks as GOP Midterm Panic Grows: “Bleak”

Donald Trump lost his temper with a reporter on Tuesday after she pressed him on why Iran is continuing to fight. In barely-concealed anger, he ripped her organization as “fake” and insisted Iran “desperately” wants to make a deal. But of course, that only revealed the line of questioning to be absolutely correct: Iran is not desperate, and he really does not know how to force Iran's hand or get out of this disaster. Meanwhile, Politico reports that GOP anxiety is growing about how the Iran war will hurt the party in the midterms. Politico sums up the GOP attitude with the word “bleak,” noting that Republicans are “distressed” about the war's political impact, with one calling this a “quagmire.” We talked to former State Department official Marie Harf. We discuss the deeper reasons Trump is so stuck, what Iran has come to understand about Trump, how Republicans screwed themselves by giving Trump a blank check, and why only a Democratic Congress might be able to extricate us from this fiasco. Steve Clapp is a retired marketing and finance professional from the Chicago area who suffered a concussion in January 2025 after falling on an icy driveway. His injury led to persistent post-concussion syndrome (PCS) that affected nearly every aspect of daily life—visual overload, screen intolerance, sleep disruption, and visual vertigo made even ordinary environments difficult to navigate. Through self-advocacy, persistence, and finding the right providers, including NCX Brain Recovery and neuro-optometrist Dr. Devin Duvall, Steve has made remarkable progress in his recovery journey. In this inspiring episode, Steve Clapp shares his concussion journey and the challenges of navigating a healthcare system that often felt confusing and inconsistent. He discusses how a seemingly minor setback during vestibular therapy triggered a major flare that launched him into full-blown PCS, and how his world became increasingly smaller as symptoms worsened. Steve emphasizes that self-advocacy became one of the most important parts of his recovery—learning to advocate for himself, find the right providers, and not give up hope.Key topics covered include:The initial injury and lack of concussion education at the ERThe emotional toll of losing meaningful activities and his part-time job: his world ‘getting smaller'The importance of finding providers who specialize in concussion patientsHis experience at NCX Brain Recovery's two-week intensive programWorking with neuro-optometrist Dr. Devin Duvall for vision therapy, which also helped with his sleepManaging insomnia and nervous system dysregulationFinding balance between monitoring symptoms and taking breaks from thinking about recoveryThe importance of support from loved ones and finding a talk therapistPCS is non-linear. Recovery happens in phases, and progress is rarely a straight line. Self-advocacy is critical. Patients need to take an active role in finding answers and evaluating treatment options. The right providers exist. Finding practitioners with deep experience treating PCS makes a tremendous difference.Improvement often becomes visible only when you look backward. Recovery can feel frustratingly slow when measured day to day, but meaningful progress and healing are possible. The emotional component of PCS is often underestimated. Managing fear, uncertainty, setbacks, and nervous system activation is an important part of the recovery process.Steve's story is also a reminder that healing isn't just about treatment—it's about learning to navigate uncertainty, manage the emotional side of recovery, and continue moving forward even when progress isn't always obvious. His experience offers practical lessons and encouragement for anyone trying to find their way through post-concussion syndrome.Resources MentionedNCX Brain RecoveryIntensive concussion rehabilitation program offering occupational therapy, multi-sensory integration, and brain enhancement. In this inspiring episode of Chewing It Over, Jack speaks with Laurie, whose remarkable story spans decades of living with the consequences of a devastating childhood injury, multiple reconstructive surgeries, and an extraordinary journey back to mobility.Laurie reflects on undergoing complex limb reconstruction surgery after living with altered biomechanics and chronic pain for over 40 years. Her rehabilitation became even more challenging when the COVID-19 pandemic prevented access to the specialist physiotherapy service that had been planned, forcing her to largely guide her own recovery. The conversation explores how she gradually relearned to walk, rebuilt strength, and adapted through careful trial and error. Despite setbacks, including muscle weakness and knee problems caused by years of altered movement, Laurie describes how she slowly regained confidence and function. Today she is pain-free, regularly attends the gym, and continues to surprise herself with what she is capable of achieving.Jack uses Laurie's story to challenge the common assumption that decades of abnormal movement patterns permanently limit rehabilitation potential. Instead, her experience highlights the remarkable adaptability of the human body when combined with persistence, patience, and realistic expectations. The discussion also touches on resilience, mindset, and the value of lived experience. Laurie explains that while she is unsure whether optimism can be taught, she believes sharing experiences with others beginning similar rehabilitation journeys can provide reassurance and hope. This is an uplifting conversation about recovery, perseverance, and the importance of believing that meaningful improvement remains possible—even after decades of disability. The human body can continue adapting after decades of altered movement. Long-standing biomechanical changes do not automatically prevent meaningful recovery.Patient-led rehabilitation can still be highly successful. When supported by sound principles, self-directed recovery can produce impressive outcomes, particularly when circumstances limit access to healthcare.Recovery is rarely linear. Setbacks, muscle weakness, and periods of uncertainty are often part of successful long-term rehabilitation.Mindset and persistence matter. Optimism alone is not enough, but resilience and willingness to keep progressing can profoundly influence rehabilitation.5 clinical/professional takeaways

What if the best mindset for competition isn't confidence at all? After experiencing a fall before stepping up a level, many riders believe they need to "feel confident again" before they're ready to compete. But what if that's the wrong goal? In this episode of the Equestrian Performance Mindset Podcast, I and Lorna explore what the best competition mindset really looks like after a setback. They explain why even elite riders still experience nerves, adrenaline, self-doubt and fear before competing, and why trying to eliminate those feelings often creates even more pressure. Instead of chasing confidence, you'll learn why building mental capacity, your ability to regulate emotions, reconnect with yourself and make clear decisions under pressure, is what truly helps you perform at your best. Whether you're returning after a fall, preparing for your next competition, or simply tired of waiting to "feel ready," this episode will help you rethink what confidence actually means. In this episode you'll learn: Why confidence shouldn't be your main goal What the "best mindset" actually looks like before competition Why fear and nerves never completely disappear, even for professionals The difference between courage and forcing yourself through fear When listening to your body is the strongest decision you can make How to stop fear from making your decisions for you Why awareness is the first step to better performance The difference between building confidence and building mental capacity How to trust yourself even when fear is still present Resources Mentioned:

On this week's episode of the Korea Pro Podcast, Jeongmin and John discuss Canada's decision to name Germany's TKMS as the preferred bidder for its submarine procurement program, dealing a major blow to South Korea's Hanwha Ocean after months of intense lobbying. The conversation then turns to President Lee Jae Myung's push for a “ROK-NATO Partnership 2.0,” including Seoul's effort to move beyond one-off defense sales and present itself as a partner in joint production, planning and investment with Europe.  They also look at Lee's $100 million Ukraine pledge and whether Seoul can convince NATO partners that it is committed to long-term security cooperation, especially if South Korea eventually seeks to normalize trade ties with Russia. The episode also breaks down the implementation of South Korea's revised Network Act, widely referred to as the “fake news” law. The team explains how the law targets major online platforms such as Naver, Kakao, Google, Meta, X and TikTok, and why critics worry it could create legal and financial risks for journalists, whistleblowers and smaller media outlets. About the podcast: The Korea Pro Podcast is a weekly conversation hosted by Korea Risk Group Executive Director Jeongmin Kim, Managing Editor John Lee and correspondent Joon Ha Park, delivering deep, clear analysis of South Korean politics, diplomacy, security, society and technology for professionals who need more than headlines. Disaster always hits before a breakthrough. If you're rebuilding your business after chaos, you're not alone. The Impulsive Thinker® explains why ADHD entrepreneurs never get a smooth path forward — and why that's the real sign of progress.   In This Episode: Why every big leap in business comes right after everything blows up How old habits come back — even when you know better Setting boundaries to keep your business built around you, not everyone else   What You'll Take Away: Your worst business disaster is the price of actual progress, not a sign you failed When pressure hits, survival habits come back fast — know how to catch them Building your business for yourself first is the only way it will work long-term You know what needs to change — stop negotiating with yourself and start moving Respect for your boundaries is non-negotiable, no matter who's pushing back   ABOUT THIS EPISODE This episode of The Impulsive Thinker® confronts the fallout and rebuild after an ADHD entrepreneur's business falls apart. The Impulsive Thinker® dishes the real ADHD experience — disaster, forced lessons, and why you can't build back the old way. It hits the hard truths about boundaries, saying no, and how even your best habits get tested when survival mode kicks in. This one's for ADHD entrepreneurs sick of serving everyone but themselves and tired of apologizing for how their brain works. If you're done pretending burnout is normal and want your business to serve you — hit play.   Email me about it at andre@theimpulsivethinker.com. Remember — ADHD failure is measured on society's measuring stick. Not yours. Your brain runs on interest, not importance. That's not a flaw. That's a different operating system. You know the feeling: midlife hands you a hard reset—the layoff, the diagnosis, the divorce you didn't see coming. Amy Shoenthal, journalist and bestselling author of "The Setback Cycle," spent years studying how the most resilient women bounce back to develop a framework anyone can use—and it's nothing like the "stay positive" advice you've heard before. We also dig into the AI anxiety so many of us are feeling right now, and how the same setback thinking applies to navigating a career that suddenly feels less certain. Amy has walked the talk: she turned her own layoff into a business so successful she now coaches teams at major companies, and she's now bringing that same thinking into intimate salons packed with women rewriting their next chapter. George Wright III interviews Hugh Hornsby, founder of Blue Collar Smart, about his journey in the skilled trades and his people-first philosophy. Hornsby recounts being diagnosed with epilepsy at age 10, being discouraged in school, and his mother's “yellow pad” approach to move from setbacks to action, shaping his “underdog advantage.” He describes starting in the warehouse at Ferguson during the 1981 recession, later scaling organizations and mentoring hundreds by helping them reconnect with the “dream they left behind,” invest in themselves, join something bigger, and give back. Hornsby shares examples of building culture by believing in overlooked hires, discusses resilience through niche focus and alignment, and explains AI as a support tool that frees people to do what they do best without losing human connection. Success has an interesting way of moving the goalposts. You land a book deal, the business starts to take off, money starts flowing, you sell the business for life-changing wealth, and yet somehow struggle to keep the calendar open for what matters most. For many entrepreneurs, the pursuit of wealth and freedom slowly turns into a new set of obligations, responsibilities, and pressures that can be just as demanding as the life they were trying to escape. That's why I'm excited to introduce you to my friend Joel Marion. Joel is a serial entrepreneur, 6-time bestselling author, direct-response marketing expert, and co-founder of BioTrust, a company that he helped scale to a 9-figure exit before his 40th birthday. Today, he mentors entrepreneurs and is launching Sound & Soul, a business focused on creating intimate live music experiences that bring people together through connection and shared memories. In this conversation, Joel shares his unlikely journey from substitute teacher to entrepreneur with a huge exit, the lessons he learned from years of setbacks, and why some of his biggest breakthroughs came after his greatest disappointments. In this episode, you'll learn: ✅ How Joel turned a failed book launch and a season of substitute teaching into the foundation for a business that generated millions in profit.✅ Why one of Joel's most painful business setbacks taught him more about success, leadership, and fulfillment than any of his biggest wins.✅ How Joel's definition of wealth evolved from chasing financial freedom to prioritizing time, relationships, and memorable experiences.Show Notes: LifestyleInvestor.com/296Tax Strategy MasterclassIf you're interested in learning more about Tax Strategy and how YOU can apply 28 of the best, most effective strategies right away, check out our BRAND NEW Tax Strategy Masterclass: www.lifestyleinvestor.com/taxStrategy Session For a limited time, my team is hosting free, personalized consultation calls to learn more about your goals and determine which of our courses or masterminds will get you to the next level. After months of dedicated training, it's easy to believe race day will go exactly as planned. But the reality is that setbacks happen. Whether it's an injury, a mechanical issue, nutrition problems, or simply a bad day, every athlete eventually faces adversity. In this episode, Coach Stephen Horan shares how the setbacks in his own athletic journey transformed not only his mindset, but also the way he coaches others through challenging times. Stephen breaks down his three-step philosophy for navigating setbacks and turning them into opportunities for growth. From honest self-assessment and micro-analysis, to pursuing 1% improvements each day, and finally learning when and how to reset, Stephen provides a practical framework that athletes can apply both in sport and in life. This episode is a reminder that setbacks don't define your journey, how you respond to them does. Embrace the lesson. Trust the process. The comeback is always stronger than the setback.

Bernard Hopkins is one of boxing's most accomplished champions, known not only for his longevity in the sport but also for the mindset that carried him from prison to the pinnacle of professional boxing. In this episode, Travis reflects on his conversation with the legendary fighter, sharing powerful lessons about resilience, personal accountability, long-term planning, and the mentality required to achieve greatness. Hopkins' story is a masterclass in transforming adversity into opportunity and maintaining a relentless commitment to self-improvement. On this episode we talk about: Why every setback contains a lesson if you're willing to learn from it The mindset that separates legends from everyone else How to turn life's worst moments into defining turning points Competing against yourself instead of comparing yourself to others The importance of planning for your future before you need to pivot Top 3 Takeaways There are no losses—only lessons. Every setback provides valuable feedback that can help you grow, improve, and move forward stronger than before. The highest achievers focus on becoming different, not fitting in. Greatness often requires an uncommon level of commitment, discipline, and focus. Success isn't built by reacting to circumstances—it's built by planning ahead and intentionally creating the future you want. Notable Quotes "There's no loss, only lessons."
