In this powerful conversation, we explore why leadership is more than strategy, how people-pleasing and self-doubt can quietly undermine our effectiveness, and why true purpose begins with reconnecting to ourselves. Kim shares how the body, intuition, heart, and mind all play a role in helping women communicate with greater presence, clarity, and impact. It's the last episode before a well-earned summer break! I'm swapping the mic for some quality time with my son before he starts secondary school, because some moments matter more than deadlines. About this episode: Somewhere along the way, "Manifestors are lone wolves" became one of the most repeated statements in Human Design. But... is it actually true? After six years of experimenting with my own design as a Manifestor, I've found myself questioning some of the narratives we so casually accept as fact - especially when we are new in our Manifestor Journey and want to find out more about our type. While I absolutely recognise our need for freedom, space and solitude, I don't believe that automatically means we're meant to walk through life alone. In this episode, I'm sharing some of the quotes I found while researching this topic (props to my Line 1 being tickled), the questions and doubts they sparked in me, and why my own experience with isolation completely shifted how I think about Belonging as a Manifestor. This isn't an episode about proving anyone (or anyone's theory) wrong. It's rather n invitation to look beyond the labels, make room for nuance, and come back to our own experience. Because I don't want to ask whether I am a Lone Wolf. I want to ask: Where do I truly belong? Is being a virtual assistant still a viable side hustle in this age of AI? Today's guest, Rachael Davila, is here to show us why the answer is yes, and how you can turn your existing skills and experience into a VA business. Rachael has been a virtual assistant for more than 20 years. But today, she's also a VA mentor, author, and the founder of Extra Hands! Virtual Assistance. In our conversation, she draws on her decades of experience to share valuable insights on finding and working with the right clients, why the best VAs think beyond simply completing tasks, and how the right mindset can help you confidently charge what you're worth. We also get into practical details, from pricing and the best billing model, to the different ways you can structure your business so it actually pays you, and how to get started without having to know everything before you begin. In this episode: Why AI hasn't replaced virtual assistants ... and what it still can't do The difference between a "doer" VA and a "collaborator" VA How to price your services and get comfortable charging what you're worth A prepaid billing system that solves the "you're almost out of hours" problem What to ask (and listen for) in a discovery call before taking on a new client How to get started as a VA without already knowing everything Do you like what you're hearing? Consider giving it a caffeinated thumbs up. We'd really appreciate it! Need a little (and sometimes big) push to start and stay focused to grow your side hustle? In this episode of The Meditation Podcast, Roy sits down with Jon Paul Crimi — Breathwork pioneer, celebrity trainer, and sobriety coach based in Bend, Oregon. Jon Paul shares how his late friend Matthew Perry first introduced him to Breathwork, how a single session sent him "down the rabbit hole," and how he transformed a niche, mystical practice into a grounded, results-driven method that's now certified over 3,000 instructors worldwide. The conversation covers the science behind "tetany" (the hand-cramping sensation common in circular breathwork), why Jon Paul's mouth-breathing technique differs from nose-breathing methods like Wim Hof, how trauma stored in the nervous system gets released through the breath, and why he believes breathwork produces results comparable to psychedelics — without the logistical downsides. He also opens up about his own sobriety (26 years), his father's Alzheimer's diagnosis, his experience bringing breathwork into corporations like Nike and LinkedIn, and how to spot unqualified instructors in an unregulated industry. What we Discussed 0:02 – Introduction and welcome 0:53 – How Jon Paul got into breathwork through Matthew Perry 2:08 – What "breathwork" actually means (it's an umbrella term) 2:48 – Jon Paul's mouth-breathing technique vs. nose-breathing methods 7:41 – Full-circle moment: teaching at a Tony Robbins Life Mastery Seminar 8:16 – Leading the largest in-person circular breathwork class (900 people, Switzerland) 10:20 – What causes "tetany" (the hand-cramping) — and how to stop it 14:25 – Why trauma surfaces during breathwork (and why that's a good thing) 17:13 – How long sessions should last, and why headphones matter 19:03 – Transient hypofrontality — quieting the inner critic 20:43 – Breathwork vs. psychedelics (ayahuasca, microdosing) 24:18 – Recommended frequency of practice 25:13 – Age recommendations for breathwork with children 26:21 – Alzheimer's, PTSD research, and where the science currently stands 28:05 – How to spot underqualified or unsafe instructors 31:02 – Inside his certification process (in-person vs. online, pricing) 43:57 – Bringing breathwork into corporations (Nike, LinkedIn) 51:03 – Breathwork's pop culture moment — the show Flaked with Will Arnett 54:24 – Where to find Jon Paul and closing thoughts Contact Details
Summer has been looking a little different around here when it came to my schedule as a virtual assistant so I figured I would run through what it's looked like, including our childcare schedule, when I was getting client work done, and how I was able to go to Colorado for over 2 weeks to see my family (without requesting PTO or having to take time off of work)! If you are looking for a flexible side hustle or a way to make money from home, without sacrificing important seasons in your life (like the summer before your oldest goes to Kindergarten
Today's episode is a little different because we are doing an AMA, an Ask Me Anything episode. Over the years, I have had thousands of conversations with virtual assistants. I have answered questions inside communities, during coaching calls, through emails, in workshops, and in conversations with VAs who are just getting started and VAs who have been in business for years. And there are certain questions that come up again and again. Questions about getting clients. Questions about pricing. Questions about confidence. Questions about what services to offer and whether they are actually ready to call themselves a virtual assistant. So today I picked five questions that I hear all the time, and I'm going to answer them the way I would if you asked me during a coaching call. And as always, I want you to remember that there is no magic formula for building a successful VA business. There are strategies, systems, and things you can do that will absolutely make the process easier, but the biggest thing that separates VAs who build sustainable businesses from those who stay stuck is usually confidence and consistency. It is knowing what steps to take, and then actually taking them. That last part is pretty important! The 5 questions in this episode: How do I get my first client without any VA experience? How much should I charge? Do I need a niche? Why is my marketing not working? And am I ready to call myself a VA? We can get you to where you want to go. Quickly, as a matter of fact. All you have to do is be willing to make decisions and take action. You need a client? We can do that. You need to set your rates or create packages? We can do that. You need to get better at time management because you're blowing your budget with your clients all the time so you can work more efficiently and make more money. We can also do that. Whatever you need, I can help. It's the only reason I'm here at all, guys, is to help you become a ridiculously good virtual assistant. Check out how we can work together at yourvamentor.com/links and connect with me on social media, please, and tell me where you're stuck. Let's get you moving in the right direction. That's all I've got for you today. I'm Tracy Daviero, the Confidence Coach for Virtual Assistants, and I want to thank you for listening into this episode. I'll see you next time!

If you've ever pushed your goals to a future date that never quite arrives, this episode is your wake-up call. Our host, Diane Rolston, gets real about the problem with waiting for someday and why the timing you're waiting for is probably just procrastination dressed up as good planning.Listen to learn these key takeaways:Why being busy and moving forward are two completely different things and how to tell which one you're actually doingThe real reason we wait for the "perfect time" that has nothing to do with timing at allThe question to ask yourself before you decide whether your reason for waiting is valid or just a good excuseWhere your most important goals actually land on your priority list and why they'll keep getting pushed back until you do something about itThe jar story applied to your goals: why filling your day with everything else first guarantees there's no room left for what matters mostWhy Diane's book sat for a year, and her podcast kept getting delayed and what finally forced both to happenThe problem with asking yourself "why am I procrastinating?" and the better questions to ask insteadWhy you might not actually have a discipline problem at all and what might really be going onThe three things that are often missing when goals stay stuck, and none of them are motivationWhy adding five new goals is exactly the wrong move and what to do insteadComing up next: why you probably don't need more motivation to reach your goals and what you might actually be missing instead.PROGRAM ALERT: She's Goaled Group Coaching Mastermind is opening for applications soon, starting September. In this episode of The Crypto Podcast, Roy sits down with Paul Brower, Director of Engineering at Casa — the gold standard in Bitcoin self-custody — where he leads a 12-person team building AI-first workflows to protect billions of dollars in Bitcoin. Before Casa, Paul spent seven years building the first FDA-approved digital pill software, was an early Bitcoin adopter since 2011 (including a Mt. Gox close call), and even spent three episodes on an MTV reality dating show. Paul breaks down how Casa's multi-sig self-custody system works (2-of-3, 3-of-5), how attackers are now using AI-powered spearphishing and deepfakes to impersonate support staff, and how cryptographic PIN verification protects users from social engineering. He also covers key loss prevention (health checks, hardware redundancy, YubiKeys vs. Trezor/Ledger), Casa's inheritance system for passing on Bitcoin securely, the risks of giving AI agents access to financial accounts, and why physical air-gapped hardware remains one of the strongest defenses against an increasingly AI-powered threat landscape. She explains how hiring a virtual assistant can help you protect your time, improve your guest experience, and create a more sustainable business model.Jennifer shares the mindset shift that helped her grow since 2016: moving from being the person who answers every DM, call, and email to becoming the visionary who leads the business. She walks listeners through a simple exercise to identify every task they currently do, evaluate which ones truly require their time, and decide what can be delegated to someone else at a lower cost. She also explains the difference between high-level work and low-task work, encouraging owners to focus on the activities only they can do—like leadership, planning, training, and growth—while handing off repetitive or time-consuming tasks like cleaning, booking, inbox management, reports, and customer communication.A major takeaway from this episode is that delegation only works when there is a clear system in place. Jennifer emphasizes the importance of documenting processes, setting expectations, sharing examples, and communicating clearly so a virtual assistant can succeed without creating more work for the owner. She also discusses how AI can now support some of the simpler tasks, making virtual assistants even more valuable for communication, client care, and operational support. Whether you're a solo entrepreneur or a growing salon team, this episode will help you rethink what should stay on your plate and what should be handed off so you can stay in your zone of genius.Want to learn more about working with a virtual assistant? This week on The KORE Women podcast, Dr. Summer Watson welcomes Eliza Young, whose life story is one of profound resilience, courage, and transformation. From surviving severe childhood health challenges and more than 20 surgeries before the age of 18, to navigating parental kidnappings and later developing breast cancer linked to 9/11 exposure, Eliza has faced extraordinary adversity throughout her life. In this conversation, we talk about the power of choosing positivity without denying pain, how trauma can shape both struggle and strength, and why moving from victimhood to survival begins with perspective and intention. SPONSORED BY BELAYIf you're an advisor and you're still scheduling your own appointments, sending your own follow-up emails, or dealing with other tasks keeping you from bringing on other clients, you're the bottleneck. BELAY helps busy leaders find world-class Virtual Assistants who can take tasks off their plate, protect their time, and help them stay focused on the work that actually moves the business forward. Learn more about BELAY and find the right assistant for your business here: http://belaysolutions.com/dbdlA lot of financial advisors say they want more growth, more freedom, and more time with their family. But their calendar tells a different story. They're still answering every email, booking every flight, handling every follow-up, managing every client detail, and trying to squeeze high-value work into whatever time is left. The problem is that the work that feels “small” rarely stays small. It compounds. And before long, the advisor who wants to scale the business is spending too much time doing the work that keeps them stuck.Today, I'm talking with Tricia Sciortino, CEO of Belay, about the role most advisors wait too long to hire for, why the right assistant can become a true force multiplier, and how leaders accidentally create the very bottlenecks they're trying to escape. We also dig into why delegation is harder than most people admit, what separates a great assistant from a basic task-taker, and how the best leaders create the trust, clarity, and systems that allow someone else to help them operate at a higher level.3 Insights From This Week's Episode…#1.) The Calendar Problem Hiding In Plain SightMany advisors think their calendar issues are just part of running a growing firm. But Tricia and I explore why calendar chaos is often a symptom of a deeper leadership problem, and what it may be costing your business and life.#2.) Why Doing It Yourself Quietly Caps GrowthThere are tasks that feel easier to handle yourself in the moment, but those small decisions can slowly become the ceiling on your firm. We talk about why leaders stay stuck doing low-value work and how that affects everything else.#3.) The Back-End Flywheel Most Advisors MissGrowth is not just about more marketing and more appointments. This week on the KORE Women podcast, Dr. Summer Watson is joined by Sabine Gedeon, who is a transformational speaker, executive advisor, and founder of Gedeon Enterprises. As a Haitian immigrant, Sabine was taught that hard work was the path to success. While that mindset served her well, she eventually realized it was also limiting her growth. Her breakthrough came when she learned that the language of business is people and that relationships, trust, and visibility often create opportunities that hard work alone cannot. In this powerful conversation, we discuss identity, leadership, influence, social capital, and how redefining who we are can unlock entirely new possibilities for growth and success. If you've ever felt like you're working harder but not moving forward, this episode may change the way you think about leadership, relationships, and your own potential. What if the thing keeping you stuck isn't a lack of talent, but the belief that you have to be ready before anyone sees your work? Listen as our host, Diane Rolston, shares what she learned from letting people see her unfinished one-woman show and why none of the lessons are really about theater. She reflects on her recent read-through of Chasing Enough and unpacks what it revealed about perfectionism, progress, and the courage to create before you're ready.Listen to learn these key takeaways:Why waiting for perfect might actually be preventing your progress and the unexpected thing that happens when you bring something finished versus something still in progress to an audienceThe book cover story that changed everything and why isolating yourself while creating is costing you more than you thinkWhat people are actually thinking before you share something you're nervous about (it's probably not what your inner critic is telling you)The one reframe that makes feedback stop feeling like a report card and why Diane went into the read-through knowing she wouldn't get 100%The things we obsess over in our own work versus what audiences actually notice and the major piece Diane completely missed that her audience pointed out immediatelyWhy Diane never creates a program before she's sold it first and how that same principle applies to almost everything you're buildingThe powerful reversal that changes everything: you don't become ready and then share your work. You become ready because you shared your work. One question to sit with: what's your version of an unfinished play, and what would happen if you let one trusted person see it today?Maybe the thing you're waiting to be perfect doesn't need another month in your head. You're grinding harder than ever and your production is still going down. If you're using a virtual assistant for real estate prospecting and still doing half the work yourself, you're solving the wrong problem.High-level agents solve the biggest problem in the equation and delegate everything else. Most agents are stuck doing courthouse runs, organizing spreadsheets, manually pulling probate leads, and presenting offers the second they hit their inbox, all while their prospecting block gets eaten alive. That's not a work ethic problem. That's a systems problem. In this office hours session we break down exactly what needs to change:✅ Why real estate prospecting systems built around expired listings are giving you diminishing returns and what to switch to instead✅ The $2 per file courthouse model that handled probate prospecting at scale without the agent touching a single spreadsheet✅ How to use a virtual assistant for real estate prospecting the right way, what to outsource to Upwork, what to hand to a managed ISA company, and why doing it in-house usually costs you more than it saves✅ The real reason expired listings vs probate is not a close comparison anymore and what the data from the last 24 months actually shows✅ How real estate time blocking protects your prospecting hours when everything else is screaming for your attention✅ How to handle the commission objection without internally wincing and what the right mindset shift actually looks like✅ Delegating real estate tasks to the right people so your margin goes up while your hours go down✅ How to structure motivated seller leads conversations so you know whether you are looking at a retail deal or a creative deal before you ever pitchYou solve bigger problems, you get bigger checks. Stop carrying what someone else can handle for $2 a file.

If you've been following Diane's journey writing a one-woman show, her play Chasing Enough met an audience for the very first time last week and it was terrifying, vulnerable, and incredibly valuable all at once. Our host, Diane Rolston, shares what happened when 21 people sat down to hear an unfinished, unpolished script that no one outside her writing coach had ever heard before.Listen to learn these key takeaways:What a read-through actually is and why Diane chose to do one far earlier than most theatre people would recommendThe unexpected risk she took during the read-through that made it more than just reading (and why she did it anyway)Who she invited and why the composition of that room was a very deliberate decisionThe surprising moments that landed more powerfully than she ever intended and the ones that didn't land at allWhat the audience's laughter (and silence) revealed that she never could have known from just reading the script herselfThe ending that didn't hit the way she hoped, and what she's now going back to fixWhy one scene she loved is getting fully cut, one cut scene is going back in, and what that teaches us about the difference between what creators love and what audiences connect withThe "show don't tell" lesson she keeps learning: the balance between explanation and experience that makes the difference between a TED talk and theatreWhy filming from the back instead of the front was not enoughThe creative idea she added the night before, and what the audience said about it (she's not telling you what it was, you'll have to experience it LIVE)Coming up next: what Diane learned by letting people see her work before it was ready, and why, if you have perfectionism, you won't want to miss it.Want to be invited to a future read-through or the private preview in September in North Vancouver? What if you could get back fifteen hours of your work week without seeing a single extra patient? In this special episode, recorded live in a breakout room workshop following the California DPC Summit, Justin Lam, CEO of Cool Blue VA, sits down with a room full of physicians to talk about getting real help in your practice and in your life. Dr. Maryal Concepcion opens by sharing her own experience working with a virtual assistant she found through Cool Blue VA, then hands the room over to Justin.Justin walks through the questions so many physicians sit with when building a Direct Primary Care practice. Research shows only twenty-seven percent of a physician's time goes to direct patient care, while nearly half disappears into desk work and admin. Justin breaks down how to change that. You will hear:The "only you" test for deciding what to delegate and what to keep. If someone else can do it, it probably should not be on your plate. Why fifty percent is the right time to hire, not one hundred percent, and how waiting too long leads to rushed decisions and the wrong hire. How to design your ideal role before you ever start looking, including the top tasks to hand off, the tools your assistant will use, and how to measure success. The real difference between a local medical assistant and a virtual assistant, and what each one is best suited for. Local staff handle high-touch, in-person, revenue-generating work. Virtual assistants cover the inbox, scheduling, prior authorizations, records, specialist coordination, billing, and more.Practical hiring tools you can use today, from spelling and math checks to typing tests and strength assessments. The honest back and forth with physicians in the room, who ask about charting support, inventory, time zones, vacation coverage, billing by the minute, and even using a virtual assistant as an executive assistant for your home life.Whether you have a full panel or you are still mapping out your first month open, there is something here worth holding onto.Ready to grow your practice with the right support? Brian Samson knows a harsh truth about the current American economy: if you run a service business right now, the math is brutal. Labor is incredibly expensive, turnover is high, and finding reliable operators can feel like a full-time job.But Brian has a cheat code. The result? He completely revolutionized his hiring process by tapping into the nearshore talent pool in Latin America. Today, Brian runs Plug Tech—a nearshore staffing agency pushing $8M in ARR—and he is pulling back the curtain on how small business owners can leverage global talent to generate massive ROI.If you are struggling to scale because you are drowning in admin work, scheduling, or operations, this episode will completely rewrite how you think about building your team. What You'll Learn in This Episode:The VA vs. EA Paradigm Shift: Why you should stop hiring Virtual Assistants to do simple "tasks" and start hiring nearshore Executive Assistants who anticipate problems and drive strategy.Latin America vs. Asia: The cultural and operational differences between offshoring to places like the Philippines (process-driven) versus nearshoring to LatAm (spontaneous and creative problem-solvers).The Price-to-Value Arbitrage: Why paying a top-tier nearshore employee $1,500/month or an AI engineer is actually a massive bargain that can generate seven figures of value for your company. The $100 Interview Test: Brian's foolproof, paid-test framework to filter out bad hires, test real-world skills, and guarantee you're bringing on an "A-Player."Tags: Hiring, Entrepreneurship, Business scaling, Service & ConsultingResources:Grow your business today: https://links.upflip.com/the-business-startup-and-growth-blueprint-podcastFollow Our Second Channel Here: https://next.upflip.com/spotify Connect with Brian: https://www.linkedin.com/in/briansamson
