Mark Dubowitz, CEO of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, has long focused on Iran's nuclear ambitions and advised multiple U.S. administrations on policy toward Iran. I invited him on Conversations with Coleman to explain the Iran nuclear issue at a deep level. We discussed the science of uranium enrichment, the differing Obama, Trump, and Biden policies on containment, and the history of Iran's nuclear ambitions from the 1979 Revolution to today. Mark laid out the stakes of preventing a nuclear-armed Iran—not just for the United States, but for global stability—and the consequences of getting it wrong. Mark emphasized how the calculation on confronting Iran has changed for Israel since October 7, 2023. While the U.S. has followed a doctrine of de-escalating to de-escalate—favoring diplomacy, economic incentives, and restraint—Israel now believes it must escalate to de-escalate. This conversation was recorded before Israel launched its attack on Iran, striking nuclear facilities, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps military bases, missile launchers, and commanders' residences. It's now more important than ever to understand the context for the articles and commentary that you're going to see over the next weeks and months. They talk about Notre Dame's independence in the sport and whether that is something that will always make sense in the future with the changing landscape in college football. The two also get into the nature of scheduling in the sport and why Freeman wants the USC rivalry to continue on a yearly basis. Coach opens up about what he's learned in his first 3 full seasons as the leader of one of the most prestigious programs in the country and much more in the first episode of Big Noon Conversations in 2025. What if being great with money doesn't guarantee you're doing great with your spouse? If you're the “money person” in your marriage, you may think you're doing everything right. But what if your spouse feels shut out of the process? It happens more than you think. Shaunti Feldhahn joins us today to talk about how you can avoid that disconnect or fix it if need be.Shaunti Feldhahn is a Harvard graduate, former Wall Street analyst, social researcher, best-selling author, and a prominent public speaker. She is the co-author of Thriving in Love and Money: 5 Game-Changing Insights about Your Relationship, Your Money, and Yourself, written with her husband, Jeff, and has co-authored several books with him, revealing impactful truths about relationships at home and in the workplace.Honor What Your Spouse ValuesMoney-minded individuals often unknowingly send the message that their spouse's financial opinions don't matter. Even with good intentions and solid planning, failing to honor what your spouse values can damage not just your finances but your marriage.Spouses who handle the finances might assume they're right and the other is wrong. That unspoken belief, even if subtle, can lead one partner to feel dismissed—and that's a dangerous place to be.About two-thirds of spouses believe they know better than their partner how to manage finances. This is similar to how most people think they're above-average drivers—statistically improbable, but psychologically common. While it's okay to have differing financial opinions, it becomes a problem when one partner consistently feels unheard or undervalued. Many “money people” may not even realize they're doing this, but over time, it fosters resentment and undermines trust.Different Values, Different PrioritiesMore than 80% of couples have differing financial values, which are often rooted in their childhood experiences, temperaments, or faith priorities. For instance, one spouse may believe saving for college is urgent and non-negotiable. The other may feel that making memories with their children while they are young, such as taking a trip to Disney, is equally important. Neither is wrong. They're just different. The danger lies in assuming that one value system is superior. If one spouse feels their values are constantly being overlooked, resentment can quietly grow until it spills over into other areas of the relationship. The real danger isn't only in the budget—it's in the relationship. If one person starts to feel like their opinions don't matter, it doesn't just affect money decisions. It becomes a marriage issue. And this dynamic can even show up in financial advisor meetings, where professionals may unintentionally direct conversations toward the more financially-minded spouse. This reinforces the problem and risks charting a course toward relational misalignment.Three Steps Toward Greater Financial UnityIn her article for Faithful Steward, Shaunti offers three practical steps to bring both voices to the table:Ask Each Other a Simple QuestionAt a neutral time—say, over morning coffee—ask:“On a scale of 1 to 5, how heard and valued do you feel in our financial decisions?”If the answer isn't a 5, it's a red flag—time for a deeper conversation. Treat Less-than-Perfect Answers SeriouslyA “3” or “4” means something isn't connecting. Don't ignore it. The goal is for both spouses to feel their voice and values are part of the plan, even when you disagree. Explore Your Financial Values TogetherChapter 3 of her book, Thriving in Love and Money, maps out different “money values”—how people view experiences vs. things, time vs. money, or convenience vs. frugality. Shaunti encourages couples to read the chapter together (or separately with notes in the margins) to uncover hidden assumptions.Real-Life Insight: The $1.50 LessonShaunti also shares a personal example: she values time and convenience, so she's happy to pay an extra $1.50 per movie ticket to reserve seats in advance. Jeff, her husband, sees that as unnecessary—he'd rather arrive early to save money.Neither is “right.” However, understanding each other's values helped them approach decisions with greater ease and grace, rather than conflict.Remember, resentment is like a slow leak—it can go unnoticed until the tire blows out. But the antidote is simply listening with love and curiosity. You can read her full article in Faithful Steward, our quarterly magazine designed to help you connect your faith with your finances. EP231: Jessica Bentson's journey into toymaking began with a heartfelt desire to provide her children with natural playthings she couldn't afford to buy. That spark of inspiration has grown into Toymaking Magic, her membership that helps parents create beautiful handmade toys regardless of their crafting experience. In this conversation, Jean and Jessica talk about the value of handmade toys and open-ended play. Jessica shares why simple projects like beanbags make the perfect starting point for beginners while offering tremendous play value for children from toddlerhood through the elementary years. "Making beanbags is so satisfying," she explains. "My kids loved them so much and played with them the most out of everything I've ever made." These open-ended toys inspire children to invent games, build structures, and incorporate them into imaginative play scenarios for years. For parents who feel intimidated by handwork, Jessica's step-by-step video tutorials show every detail of the process, making projects accessible even to complete beginners. Whether you're curious about needle felting, sewing, knitting, or woodwork, Toy Making Magic offers a treasure trove of Waldorf-inspired crafts that enhance both your homeschooling journey and your children's development.

Today, we highlight Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Glorious Lord in the Church around the world. Thank you all for listening. We are looking at the earthly conversations Jesus had, as recorded in the gospels, to see if we are able to glean anything useful for our prayer lives. Our latest segment comes from John chapter 2 and the wedding party at Cana. We find not only is He the God of the impossible, but He can accomplish multiple things through one prayer. The prayer of Mary, "They have no wine." Began a miracle, at least 180 gallons of good wine. Although the miracle was a "quiet one," it accomplished all Mary had prayed, but it set the beginning of the evangelist team God would use to turn the world upside down. "This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him." John 2:11Our So What? When we cast our prayers to the heart of our God, we scarce know how those prayers may be used in the plan of the Almighty. Therefore, we heed then the exhortations of E.M. Bounds and the apostle Paul:"Nothing is well done without prayer for the simple reason that it leaves God out of the account." " Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31Brethren, let's pray for one another. Today we're excited to share our conversation with Anna Lott, and we're especially thinking of those who are walking—or have walked—the path of divorce.Anna is the host of the Solo Saints podcast and retreats, and she's become a thoughtful and compassionate voice in our community—especially for those who often feel like their experiences don't quite fit the mold. As a divorced mother of four, Anna brings honesty, heart, and hard-won wisdom to conversations about faith, family, and belonging.Today's episode is for everyone though—whether you've experienced divorce yourself or love someone who has, we talk with Anna about what it feels like to show up at church when your life no longer fits the picture of how you thought things were “supposed” to look. She speaks candidly about the stigma and shame that so many experience around divorce in a family-centered church, —and about how we, as a community, can do better to create a softer place to land.Anna also invites us to rethink and let go of some of the painful narratives many of us have inherited around marriage—that it should be preserved at all costs, or that staying married is always the most right choice. She shares the both-ands of her own story—the grief and the growth, the costs and the clarity—and how reclaiming and recentering her identity as a daughter of God has led to deeper joy, belonging, and renewed faith. We're so grateful to the many of you who shared your stories and questions ahead of this episode. Your voices shaped this conversation in meaningful ways. We're grateful for your honesty and vulnerability and we hope you feel heard here. And with that, here's our conversation with Anna Lott.

On our latest episode of the podcast, we natter about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 9th and the 13th June (Episodes #11,591 - 11,596) This week, the street residents gather to pay their respects to Craig, but with Kit going AWOL before the memorial begins, it's down to Lisa deliver the speech. Meanwhile, Betsy makes a discovery about the circumstances surrounding her other mum's death that sets her on a bit of detective work of her own... It was a big week for Lou this week too as she struggles to ingratiate herself to the neighbours - with Maria in particular proving to be a tough nut to crack. Also this week, the grand unveiling of the new look Number 8 (including the welcome return of Vin Diesel the weasel!), Brody has a seizure and Millie confesses she's up the duff - but is it all just a ruse to draw Theo back home? Not a whole lot of Corrie news this week, so we give The Kabin a miss, so we finish things off with more of your fabulous feedback. Street Talk - 00:21:59 Feedback - 02:42:19

In this episode, I sit down with my 4-year-old to discuss life, travel, snacks, bedtime stories, and whatever else comes up. Aria's small, but she's got big dreams and an even bigger heart. She shares why she makes so many "happy plates" and what she thinks is better than bubble wrap.We also talk about her perspective on traveling from Poland to Estonia. I ask about her favorite places in the world (spoiler: Texas & New Orleans made the cut), and what it's like trying to sleep when the sun doesn't set in Estonia till 11pm.Some of her answers to my questions surprised me. For example, I didn't know what she wanted to be when she grows up. But she has it all mapped out. And apparently, she'll be working 3 jobs because she loves helping others so much.My favorite girl serves as a reminder for me to always be present—that it's the little things that make life so special.
