Geoengineering isn't some far-off theory anymore—it's happening right now, and the fallout could be devastating. In this episode, we sit down with Dane Wigington, the lead researcher at GeoengineeringWatch.org, to dig into what's really going on with large-scale weather manipulation. From nanoparticle spraying to covert weather modification, Dane pulls back the curtain on practices that have been kept deliberately quiet, and forces us to ask some hard questions about who's behind it all and why. We also take a moment to honor Joyce Keller, a pioneering metaphysical teacher whose bravery and insight push us to face these tough realities. We get into the ripple effects of climate engineering—how it's affecting not just our environment but our collective psyche. The collapse of insect populations, the die-off of wildlife, the connections between geoengineering, 5G, and the chemicals flooding our food supply—it all starts to fit together. We challenge listeners to think critically about the power structures and widespread apathy that allow environmental destruction and profit-driven "disaster capitalism" to keep rolling. Later in the conversation, we explore the idea that Earth might be a living, conscious system that responds to the crises we've created. With methane levels climbing and echoes of ancient civilizations that might have crashed the same way, we wonder if we're just repeating old mistakes. Through personal stories and historical perspective, we make the case for a fundamental change in how we think—putting the planet's future ahead of short-term gains. The urgency is real. Like passengers on the Titanic, we can't ignore the warning signs: our fate is tied directly to the health of the Earth. Website Link: ------------------------------------ Standout Quotes “Climate engineering is weather warfare, but it's also biological and chemical warfare.” “We're on the planetary Titanic—plug the biggest hole in the boat or we all go down.” “Those in power are addicts—they don't care if the next fix kills them.” “Any one of us could be the final pebble to trigger the landslide of awakening.” --------------------------------- What People Can Do Wigington's key action step: Share credible data (like a link to The Dimming) with environmental writers, officials, and media. CC multiple awake activists to create “spot fires of awareness” and pressure for public acknowledgment. He quotes Mark Twain: “Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.” His philosophy: Even without a guaranteed happy ending, “we must fight for our children” like a parent saving a child from a burning house.
Jeff Berlin is the Founder and President of Bridge Industries & Chairman and CEO of TransTech Energy. Jeff's journey spans from his early days at Parker Hannifin to helping grow Hawk Corporation from a $20 million single-plant business into a $200 million global operation, and ultimately to founding his own company, Bridge — an industrial holding company anchored by TransTech — that has quietly scaled into a multi-hundred-million-dollar enterprise based in Chagrin Falls. In our conversation, we cover Jeff's conviction in the importance of American manufacturing and how it shaped his career-long commitment to building enduring businesses; the creation of Bridge Industries and his intentional choice of a permanent holding-company model over traditional private equity; the more than 25-fold scaling of TransTech into a diversified industrial platform with over 700 employees, up from just 35 a decade earlier; and the lessons learned along the way — the resilience and philosophy that guide him, how to weather downturns, usefulness as a true measure of value and success, culture across companies, and much more.00:00:00 - The Roots of American Manufacturing Belief 00:07:35 - Formative Experiences in Leadership 00:09:00 - Transformational Growth at Hawk 00:11:55 - Resilience in Business 00:13:10 - The Birth of Bridge 00:14:14 - Understanding Industrial Holding Companies 00:16:25 - Differentiation from Traditional Private Equity 00:19:00 - The Journey of Bridge 00:20:47 - Strategic Growth and Acquisitions 00:27:31 - Managing Geographic Expansion 00:30:01 - Introducing TransTech 00:31:28 - Building Infrastructure for Energy Solutions 00:35:59 - Strategic Growth and Acquisition Insights 00:38:10 - The Importance of Vertical Integration 00:42:51 - Cultural Dynamics in Business Integration 00:43:43 - The State of American Manufacturing 00:46:30 - Defining Success and Value Creation 00:48:10 - Future Ambitions for Bridge and TransTech 00:49:40 - Mentorship and Leadership Evolution 00:51:22 - Understanding the Nature of Industrial Work 00:54:40 - The Role of Infrastructure in Daily Life 00:55:56 - Excitement for Future Challenges 00:58:07 - Investing in Financial and IT Infrastructure 00:59:52 - Automation and Its Implications 01:01:53 - Guiding Wisdom and Philosophy 01:02:51 - Renewable Natural Gas and Environmental Impact 01:05:51 - Hidden Gem-----LINKS:https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeff-berlin-9b156a12/https://bridgeind.com/-----SPONSOR:Roundstone InsuranceRoundstone Insurance is proud to sponsor Lay of The Land. This week on Green Desk, Wire Host Sara takes a deep-dive into the environmental issues surrounding the proliferation of AI technology, particularly in New Zealand. In the context of Luxon's recent announcement about a $7.5 billion investment by Amazon Web Services into data centres in New Zealand, alongside the rapid adoption of generative AI in sectors across the country, academics have raised concerns about the environmental impact of the growth of this industry. Last year, University of Waikato's Dr Amanda Turnbull co-published an article about how New Zealand is outsourcing the “risks and costs” of AI and data centres, highlighting the water and resource consumption of global reliance on data centres and AI. Sara spoke with Dr Amanda Turnbull about her concerns relating to AI's environmental impact and how the New Zealand government should be responding to the ever-expanding industry. Following the interview with Turnbull, Sara was interested in exploring how businesses are confronting the issue of AI, especially as it becomes more integral to work. I Spent Months Researching Alternatives to Bird Feathers. Spoiler: It's Possible “What if, instead of plucking ostriches to use their feathers in fashion, designers sought to celebrate the qualities of plummage with alternative materials that don't exploit animals? What happens when businesses destroy the very resources they depend on to survive? In this episode, biologist and radio host Alexander Holm explains the biodiversity crisis and reveals how industries are systematically eliminating themselves through overexploitation of natural resources. Nature provides essential services like cleaning water, holding soil together, and pollinating crops that would cost trillions to replace. Holm shows how Amazon beef production is destroying the rainfall it needs, fisheries have collapsed from overfishing, and farms are degrading their own soil. His keynote explores what biodiversity actually means, the free ecosystem services nature provides, and practical solutions for sustainable resource use without reducing living standards. This episode is part of our series on the LOOP Forum 2025 highlights, bringing you the key ideas and insights from this year's leading Nordic event on circularity.

Is AI intelligent—or just artificial? In this provocative episode, Dr. Noreen Herzfeld, a rare scholar of both computer science and theology, joins Dru Johnson to expose what most people overlook about artificial intelligence. Drawing from her recent book The Artifice of Intelligence, she challenges the mythology of AGI (artificial general intelligence) and critiques the environmental, social, and theological costs of current AI use. Herzfeld argues that large language models are plateauing and that the real danger isn't a superintelligence—it's our uncritical, energy-intensive use of biased software masquerading as neutral tools. She warns of AI's water and fossil fuel demands, its disembodied affirmation loops, and the illusion that chatbots are viable substitutes for therapists, pastors, or friends. Rooting her critique in Christian theology, Herzfeld defends the value of embodiment, human uniqueness, and community. She sees modern AI and transhumanist dreams as a return to ancient Gnostic heresies—disembodied, elitist, and ultimately dehumanizing. This episode is essential for anyone navigating the ethical, spiritual, and ecological implications of AI. You'll come away more equipped to use AI critically—and to resist the false promises of digital utopia. “In the entire decade of the 2000s, we had about a third of the billion-dollar weather disasters that we've had in the last three years. So in the last three years, we've surpassed threefold that entire previous decade. And it's not only fires in California and the West Coast— it's floods, it's storms, it's winter storms, wind storms. Most states are contending with this in some form or another.” —Cole Ashman Tired of outdated power systems leaving you in the lurch? We're in the midst of summer and we know that power outages can happen more frequently during this season due to higher temperatures and an increased demand for electricity. A couple years ago we sat down with Ram Rajagopal, an expert in the future of electrical power. He shared a few ways our existing system of massive power plants is slowly but surely giving way to a much leaner, decentralized system of small-scale power generation. Ram refers to this as a move from an “infrastructure-centric” model to a “human-centric” grid — one that will be much smarter, more inclusive and better able to adapt to the needs of individual users. It's a topic that impacts all of us and we hope you'll tune in again for a refresher on how the electric grid works and how it's evolving.Have a question for Russ?
