Thank you for making 2025 such a special year for One True Podcast! Together, we devoted shows to the centenary of In Our Time, to our One True Book Club discussion of W.H. Hudson's The Purple Land, to the 100th anniversary of The Great Gatsby, and to so much more. We're so grateful to all of our amazing guests for enriching and enlivening our program, and to all of our listeners for their loyalty. As our gift back to you, we close 2025 in our favorite of ways: we welcome Suzanne del Gizzo onto the show to discuss a season-appropriate piece of Hemingway's work. This year, we discuss “Christmas in Paris,” Hemingway's poignant, melancholy sketch describing a young couple away from home for the holidays. Before we welcome in Suzanne, old friend Mackenzie Astin narrates Hemingway's “Christmas in Paris” to put us in the spirit. Make sure you keep listening after the episode to be treated to a rendition of “Noël à Paris,” performed by Bill Hemminger (piano) and Melody Winfrey (vocals).Wishing you all happiness over the holidays, and we'll see you on the other side.
A look back at 2025 and my favourite tunes of the year. You tell me your highs and lows of 2025 and your hopes and fears for 2026. Wishing you a happy Christmas and a fearless and love filled 2026.
This week, Lucy and I are diving into Christmas — the bits that feel magical… and the bits that feel a little wobbly.Because for so many of us, this season can stir up old stories, tricky family dynamics, or that familiar mix of sadness and joy sitting right next to each other. We hope you find something useful in here.Wishing you a very happy Christmas

Welcome to UnMASKing with Male Educators. As we close out the year, we're revisiting some of the most downloaded and most meaningful conversations of the season. This replay with Dr. William (Bill) Penuel is one of those episodes that continues to resonate deeply with educators who are navigating burnout, discipline challenges, and the emotional weight of teaching in today's schools.Dr. Bill Penuel is a former middle school teacher, professor at the University of Colorado Boulder, and a nationally recognized scholar focused on educational change, compassion, and justice in school communities. He is the co-author of Creating Compassionate Change in School Communities, a book that invites educators to rethink discipline, grading, and leadership through an inside-out approach rooted in self-compassion and collective care.As we prepare for a new season of UnMASKing with Male Educators, returning with fresh conversations and exciting news about where we're headed—we invite you to slow down, reflect, and revisit this powerful dialogue. This episode reminds us that schools are often sites of suffering, and that compassion is not weakness, it's a skill, a practice, and a path toward justice.Wishing you and your loved ones a restful and restorative holiday season. In this conversation, we explore how educators can cultivate compassion for themselves and their students while navigating the real challenges of classrooms and school systems. Small Spark Theory: a marginal gains approach to new business and marketing
Here we are at the end of 2025 and our last episode of the year. I know this year has been a tough one for many agencies, for many reasons. So I wanted to finish with a good news story. A case study of an independent agency (well two in fact) flourishing despite the challenges. Kim Lawton, Founder & CEO of Enthuse Marketing and COO & Partner at Inspira, joins to me talk about how building a relationship-first culture in her agencies has allowed them to weather many of the storms impacting agencies in recent years. We discuss the dymanics of client leadership and how systemised employee feedback, client feedback and a structured approach to client development can result in exceptionally high levels client retention and referrals. Of course we’ll be giving away a copy of Kim’s recommended read: The Chief Event Officer’s Playbook by Sasha Frieze – simply listen in to find out how to win. Wishing all our guests and listeners a wonderful and relaxing festive break. We look forward to bringing you more inspiring conversations in 2026. In our final show for 2025 we are (as promised) following on from last week's show on Asking For Help today and diving into the flip side of the issue - how to receive help. We have been conditioned to do everything ourselves. So how do we actually accept support, without guilt or awkwardness? In this show we look at the benefits of receiving help, discuss why we are so terrible at it and of course give you our self care steps in how to receive it graciously, Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and a healthy and wonderful New Year. On this Podcast Chris and Don review 2025 and look to the new year. They discuss many of the good things, including the reintroduction of Lake Sturgeon and Steelhead into the Cuyahoga River; the exceptional fishing on Lake Erie and a successful deer season. Some challenges in 2025, the EHD outbreak and the drought conditions to name a few. However, overall 2025 was good and we look forward to 2026. Wishing all our listeners a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! This podcast can be found on all the major platforms.

Send us a textAs we move into the Christmas season and gently close the chapter on 2025, this episode is a heartfelt reflection on healing, growth, and finally feeling 'home'.In this special episode, I share a blog I recently wrote after reflecting on the tarot cards I pulled for myself for December in my personal 2025 reading. Looking back at these cards, the Queen of Pentacles, the Magician, and the Angel card 'You know what to do', I realised how clearly they reflected the journey I've walked this year.2025 wasn't about big and dramatic moments. It was about something far deeper: choosing myself, releasing old narratives, healing long-held wounds, and finally stepping into my true self with kindness, trust, and confidence. In this episode, I reflect on:How the Queen of Pentacles became a mirror of the woman I've grown intoLearning to trust my inner wisdom and the tools I already hadReleasing the old mindset and beliefs -choosing a new and fresh approachWhy inner work isn't the hardest part—avoiding it isA grounding end-of-year affirmation to help you release 2025 and welcome 2026This episode is reminding you to slow down, reflect on your own year, and honour how far you've come, especially the quiet moments of growth that often go unnoticed. Please Note - January podcastThere will be no podcast episodes in January as I take some time to rest, reconnect with family, and energetically prepare for a big and beautiful 2026. B"H In Judaism, we're taught that nothing in our lives is “just us.” Our existence, our strength, our talents, our wins, every one of them is a gift from Hashem. When we look at Yosef's journey or the miracles of Chanukah, we learn a powerful truth: even our hardest work is fueled by a divine spark. Our effort matters, but the success? That's Hashem's kindness shining through. Wishing you all a happy Chanuka!! To watch Torah Thoughts in video format, click HERE Subscribe to the Torah Thoughts BLOG for exclusive written content! I thought a fun Christmas episode would be to discuss Regency Christmas traditions. From mistletoe to ghost stories, we get into the festive Regency spirit on the podcast. Author Jessica Bull is joining me to share her insights and to talk about her new Christmas novella, which falls into her Jane Austen Investigates series, The Austen Christmas Murders.I hope you enjoy this episode, and as Jane Austen herself wrote, “Merry Christmas, but no compliments of the season.”Wishing you a wonderful festive period full of love and light!Jessica Bull:@jessicabullnovelisthttps://jessicabullauthor.com/
Happy Holidays, everyone! This season can be especially triggering, so it's important to carry strong boundaries—particularly when dealing with narcissists who may try to dominate the spotlight, love-bomb with gifts, or create emotional chaos. Protect your energy by choosing how much access they get to you. In some cases, the healthiest choice may be avoiding them altogether. If you do attend gatherings, set yourself up for success: sit away from them, keep interactions brief, and stay in a calm, neutral “grey rock” mode. Avoid sharing personal feelings; instead, keep conversations light—commenting on the food works great. Remember, holidays often activate a narcissist's core wound of “never enough.” No matter how much they receive, it won't fill their emotional void, and you don't need to exhaust yourself trying. Preserve your energy and invest it in people who uplift you, create synergy, and enhance your life instead of draining you. Wishing you a joyful, peaceful holiday season—one where you are the cause of better outcomes in your life.
