The Gossip With Celebitchy podcast is a must-listen for anyone who enjoys celebrity gossip and pop culture discussions. Hosted by Chandra and Katie, the podcast offers a refreshing take on celebrity news, with a focus on providing honest and insightful commentary.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the hosts' ability to deliver their opinions in an entertaining and engaging manner. Chandra and Katie's chemistry is evident in their banter, which often leads to humorous moments throughout each episode. Their lighthearted approach to discussing gossip allows listeners to feel like they are part of the conversation, as if they were chatting with friends. Additionally, the hosts offer a different perspective than many other celebrity gossip podcasts by avoiding mindless admiration for the royals or other celebrities. They tell it like it is, offering fair and apt observations on any topic they cover.
Furthermore, The Gossip With Celebitchy stands out for its coverage of topics related to racism within the royal family and British media. The hosts fearlessly expose the royal family's racist history and call out toxic behavior from these institutions. This podcast also showcases positive commentary about Meghan Markle, something that is often lacking in mainstream media coverage.
On the downside, there may be some listeners who prefer more fluffy content when it comes to celebrity gossip. The Gossip With Celebitchy does not shy away from addressing serious issues or calling out problematic behavior from celebrities or societal institutions. While this approach appeals to those seeking a more critical analysis of celebrity culture, fans looking solely for light-hearted entertainment might not find this podcast as enjoyable.
In conclusion, The Gossip With Celebitchy podcast offers an entertaining and insightful perspective on celebrity gossip and pop culture. Chandra and Katie's chemistry, humor, and ability to provide fair commentary make this podcast an enjoyable listen for anyone interested in staying up-to-date with the latest news in Hollywood while also gaining a deeper understanding of the impact of celebrity culture.
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 7 My new puppy is doing great but I don't let him sleep in my room. Chandra started watching Blonde and it's not as bad as she expected. (Update: She finished and it's bad.) Roger Federer retired after playing his final match with Rafa Nadal and it was sadder than Chandra expected. Royals: Minutes 7:00 to 30:00 Last week we had the Queen's funeral on Monday. We were surprised how long the public portion was and didn't expect the Windsor portion to be aired. Both Harry and Meghan were impeccable and regal at the many ceremonies despite everything that's been thrown at them. Harry stood out and the cameras kept finding him and Meghan. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about the Queen. Kate and William seemed especially happy after the Queen died and Kate sure helped herself to the Queen's jewelry. When I die I want a quick funeral so people can go about their day. There are three new royal books out now. Valentine Low's book is Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Throne, that seems to have the most tea, Katie Nicholl has The New Royals and Angela Levin has Camilla From Outcast to Queen Consort. Valentine Low seems to know that his sources are racist. In Valentine Low's book Meghan is blamed for the way she was treated by the palace staff. These talking points were pushed by the palace earlier to Robert Lacey for Battle of the Brothers. It goes far beyond victim blaming and proves that Meghan was downplaying the abuse she endured. Low gives a bunch of examples of the royal staff being incompetent and rude to Meghan while her reactions seem perfectly reasonable. At one point Meghan disagreed with the plans a female staff member had made and told her to change them. When the woman said it would be too hard, Meghan responded “Don't worry, If there was literally anyone else I could ask to do this, I would be asking them instead of you.” Meanwhile Charles sounds like an awful boss. He's gone through five secretaries in seven years and he calls his staff at all hours of the day, including on Christmas. His office is described as toxic and the staff are backstabbing. Nicholl's book has the detail that we've heard before that William can't forgive Harry and that William “always expected Harry would be his wingman.” She also writes that Charles is holding Archie and Lilibet's titles over the Sussexes' heads depending on what Harry reveals in his memoir. We got so many stories about how and why Meghan wasn't invited to Balmoral when the Queen took a turn for the worse. It was telling that instead of focusing on the Queen after her death the press was about the Sussexes and everything they were supposedly doing wrong. We heard that Meghan wasn't invited because Kate didn't come for whatever reason. We wish Meghan would come out and say how despicable the royal family is, but they've been showing that with their actions. Meanwhile there are all these stories about whether Harry and his family can make up. Charles is said to have hope that they can but Gayle King reported that there was no peace deal at the funeral. Harry's kids don't have titles and Harry and Meghan have been demoted on the Royal.uk website to the bottom. We don't think Harry will dish the dirt in his first memoir but hopefully he will in his future books. I play a segment from Zoom where we talk about Charles. We talk about how Queen Margrethe of Denmark removed the royal stylings and titles from her grandchildren without telling them first. The Cambridges are sort-of stepping into their roles as Prince and Princess of Wales. They went to Wales, where William tried out his rudimentary Welsh. It was supposed to be a low key visit. It doesn't seem like they knew they were getting the Wales titles right away. Comments of the Week: Minutes 30:00 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Light Purple on the story where Khloe Kardashian claimed she was engaged to Tristan Thompson last year. My comment of the week is from Lunchcoma on the post where Brad Pitt said that Emily Ratajkowski is hot. Thanks for listening and subscribing bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 8:45 We plan to record about once a month for now. I love the show Berlin ER on Apple TV, it's a lot like The Pitt, which I'm also watching. We were disappointed in the ending of Severence. Chandra is excited for the finale of The White Lotus. Royals: Minutes (8:45) to 33:00 Meghan released her As Ever collection this Wednesday morning. She had shortbread cookies, jam, tea and flower sprinkles. Everything was sold out within an hour. I bought the jam and some lemon ginger tea and Chandra got two teas and a jam. People were mad about how quickly everything sold out. Meghan also launched a commission-based ShopMy page with clothing, makeup and skincare. A woman named Sophie Chandauka has taken over Prince Harry's Lesotho-based charity, Sentebale. Harry co-founded it with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006. Both Harry and Prince Seeiso resigned from Sentable in late March. The majority of the board of trustees resigned several days before the announcement. Chandauka spent over 400,000 pounds on consultants, lost a major sponsor, and demanded a 300,000 salary, which was not granted. She also failed to fundraise for them and alienated the board as she pushed her way to the top. It was a hostile takeover and was aided by a man named Iain Rawlinson, a former trustee of Prince William's charity, The Tusk Trust. Chandauka and Rawlinsin did an interview together on Sky News. Chandra wonders when Rawlinson started manipulating Chandauka. He was seen at a Sentebale event in October. In her Sky News interview, Chandauka's main example of Prince Harry bullying her was when he resigned from Sentebale after she threatened to sue them. Chandauka spouted Windsor talking points against Harry in an interview with the Financial Times. She also was mad that Meghan and Serena Williams showed up at the charity polo match last April. Chandauka blamed Prince Harry for her failure to fundraise for Sentebale despite the fact that he donated 1.5 million from his proceeds from Spare and that the polo match raised over a million also. She's the woman whom Meghan asked to move during a group photo at that match, giving her a more central place instead of on the side next to Harry. The press made a huge deal out of this at the time and Harry emailed or texted Chandauka asking her to make a statement in defense of Meghan. She refused and now sources are saying that if the email got out it would be damaging to Harry. If so, why don't they release it? The British press's reaction in early March to Meghan gently telling Mindy Kaling that her last name was Sussex revealed so much. The British charity commission is investigating what happened at Sentebale. The trustees have spoken on the record about how abrasive Chandauka is. There's an ongoing narrative that Prince Harry is lonely, that he never should have left England, that he should come back to England. He's probably relieved to be away from these toxic people. We're excited for the second season of With Love, Meghan and hope she does seasonal episodes. Meghan's podcast Confessions of a Female Founder comes out April 8th. Prince William is going to be on Jeremy Clarkson's reality show, Clarkson's Farm. You might remember Jeremy Clarkson's horrible screed against Duchess Meghan. It's also notable that Will and Kate disappeared this week. Comments of the Week: Minutes (33:00) to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Jais on the post about Meghan's As Ever product launch. My comment of the week is from Lightpurple on the story about Cory Booker's marathon Senate speech. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 11:00 I watched Paradise with Sterling K. Brown on Hulu and didn't like how it ended. Chandra felt the same way about Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. I love The Pitt on HBO. We've both been watching Severance and love the performances. Chandra is watching The White Lotus and recommends Court of Gold on Netflix. I watched Heretic but don't recommend it. Oscars: Minutes 11:00 to 19:00 We had the Oscars this week and Chandra's favorite movie, Anora, won the most awards. We're glad Mikey Madison won for best actress over Demi Moore. Demi won plenty of awards and didn't go home empty handed. I wish that June Squibb was nominated for best actress for Thelma, my favorite movie of 2024. It takes a ton of money to campaign for an Oscar. Royals: Minutes 19:00 to 36:30 Since we last recorded we had the Invictus Games in Canada and Duchess Meghan's show With Love, Meghan came out. Last week, before the release of With Love, Meghan, Kate and William visited Wales and were such obvious copy-keens. They visited a cake shop and “made” cakes and Kate was sure to mention her jam and said she'd give the recipe to someone. Then we got a weaksauce story from a royal expert claiming Kate didn't marry for a title, but Meghan did. There's been a real silence from the palace as they figure out how to copy Meghan. I remember when Kate copied Meghan's Zoom background. With Love, Meghan is a sweet comfort watch where she makes food and does crafts with her friends. I've watched the first five episodes so far. Chandra has watched the whole thing and loves the episodes with Roy Choi and Vicky Tsai. It was cute to see Meghan interact with her friend Abigail Spencer. We talk about some of our favorite recipes including the salted fish and fried chicken. We recorded this episode before the news that With Love, Meghan got a second season. Chandra wants Roy Choi to go on again. She thinks the vocal critics of the show have never watched a cooking or lifestyle show. The critics want Meghan to be all things at once. In season two we hope they don't change things too much and just make little tweaks. Meghan was very smart this week about her PR including being on the cover of People. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about With Love, Meghan. Comments of the week: 36:30 to end Kaiser's comment of the week is from EmpressCakey on the post about Ione Skye's new memoir. My comment of the week is from Jess on the post about Jennifer Garner thinking Ben Affleck has a dark side. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:00 I am recovering well from a hysterectomy. Chandra had a stomach virus last weekend which is why we didn't publish on Sunday Oscar nominated movies we watched: Minutes 4:00 to 13:30 There are no spoilers in this section. We both loved Conclave as we discussed in the last episode. I want it to win best picture. I saw Emilia Perez before the controversies and I really liked it. We both saw Wicked. Chandra liked it more than I did. She loved Anora and wishes that Mikey Madison would have done a bigger Oscar campaign. We both hated The Substance and wonder why it's getting so much buzz. We both saw A Real Pain and liked it. We wonder why Denzel Washington wasn't nominated for his performance in Gladiator II. Chandra liked Maria and was hoping Angelina would be nominated. She saw A Complete Unknown and thought Timothee Chalamet was great in it. I highly recommend Day of The Jackal on Peacock and am watching Paradise on Hulu. We're both watching the second season of Severance. Royals: Minutes 13:30 to 22:15 In early January we got the announcement of Duchess Meghan's new lifestyle show on Netflix called With Love, Meghan. She's also back on Instagram. Her show was supposed to premiere on January 15th, but was delayed until March 4th due to the terrible wildfires in Los Angeles. NGN settled with Prince Harry on the day the trial was supposed to start. If Harry hadn't taken the settlement, it would have altered the case. This was a win for Harry since NGN admitted guilt. Harry's security case is still in the courts. The Invictus Games are going to be February 8th to the 16th in Vancouver. We hope Meghan is there most of the time, but we'll see. The Vanity Fair cover story on Harry and Meghan came out a couple of weeks ago. It's very similar to the British narrative we've been hearing about their relationship for years now, and it's insidious and despicable. Chandra wrote some good analysis about how the piece was meant to tear Harry down before he testified against NGN. Princess Kate and Prince William have done so many events this week. Kate's surprise visit to Royal Marsden hospital on January 14th was curiously timed. Politics: Minutes 22:15 to 29:30 Following the horrific plane collision between a US Army helicopter and a commercial flight, Trump did a press conference and blamed DEI policies. Both the plane crash and the response by Trump were predicted by a University of Maryland political science professor. He tweeted on January 29, a day before, that there weren't enough air traffic controllers and that Trumpers would blame a crash on DEI. Trump had recently fired the head of the FAA and put a hiring freeze on air traffic controllers. We're frustrated at people asking Democrats to do something. It will probably take some time before people realize that they were wrong to vote for Trump. Comments of the Week: Minutes 29:30 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from SussexWatcher on the post about Prince William visiting a farm. My comment of the week is from Rai on the post about Chappell Roan. I didn't delete the comment I was responding to, it was just at the bottom and I missed it when we were recording. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 5:00 I've been dealing with chronic pain. I watched Agatha All Along and loved it. Chandra doesn't like Kathryn Hahn, which I understand. Chandra highly recommends the movie Conclave. Poltics: Minutes 5:00 to 15:00 Trump won the election and it was a shock to put it lightly. We both believed that Kamala Harris was going to win. She ran an impeccable campaign. She was so on message, she was clear about her objectives, she had a literal to-do list and she emphasized inclusion and moving forward together. We're so disappointed in people. Here's the tweet from Baltimore's mayor that I mentioned. We don't think there's a way that Kamala could have run a better campaign, she was so disciplined. We're happy that Kamala won in our state of Virginia. Royals: Minutes 15:00 to 23:30 Since we last recorded, Charles and Camilla went on an anemic tour of Australia. Prince William went to South Africa for his Earthshot ceremony, tried to look statesman-like and failed. He got booed there. We remember how Camilla spread covid. Chandra mentions that Queen Elizabeth caught covid right after Charles and Camilla did. Prince Harry and Meghan purchased a villa in Portugal, where Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank live. It turned out that this was a very smart decision, since Trump has threatened to deport Harry. We talk about RFK Jr potentially removing flouride from the drinking water. Trump is credited with helping fund the vaccination rollout, but he can't take credit for it because his base is antivax. We remember when Trump talked about getting vaccinated and got booed. Comments on the Week: Minutes 23:30 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Whyforthelove on the post about Kamala Harris losing the election. My comment of the week is from pottymouth pup on that same post. Thanks for listening bitches.
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 5:45 Chandra and I both watched The Perfect Couple and loved it! Chandra also loved the fourth season of Emily in Paris. Royals: Minutes (5:45) to 24:15 After our last podcast Kate released a video with her family announcing that she was cancer free. It was self absorbed and the British media criticized her for it. King Charles is said to have disapproved too. It was reportedly Kate's idea, which makes a lot of sense. There were stories after that about how we weren't going to see Kate for a while and how her schedule wasn't going to get back to normal until the spring. We heard that she went to a ballet performance recently and that she's been having private meetings. This week Kate and William helped grant a 16-year-old cancer patient's wish to photograph an investiture ceremony, which was really nice. The Waleses were possibly motivated by Harry's recent press and the comments from Buckingham Palace about Kate's video. Last week Prince Harry was in New York for a series of appearances. He also was on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to tour his haunted house, which was fun. Cameron Walker of GB News tweeted that Harry is a veteran and that he was surprised that he got scared for that reason. Over the weekend Harry dipped in and out of London to attend the WellChild Awards. He didn't see his dad at all. When we recorded Harry was visiting Lesotho and South Africa. While Harry was getting so much positive press in New York, the British press tried to attack the Sussexes on two fronts. One was that Harry and Meghan must be having relationship problems because Meghan wasn't with him on these trips. We heard she was sick maybe she has covid and/or she just wanted to stay home with the kids. Then they dusted off that old chestnut about Meghan being mean and making her staffers cry by asking them to do their jobs and sending them email. It was unhinged and they got some US outlets to run it this time, including The Hollywood Reporter. They got one specific story about Meghan allegedly screaming at a florist in 2018, however the florist for her wedding went on the record to say it was great to work with her. The lack of specifics about what Meghan allegedly did is so telling. The Sussexes pushed back against these lies with an US Weekly cover story including quotes from people who work with them and went on the record. Of course Meghan and Harry are thoughtful, kind bosses. The reaction to the US story was unhinged. We wonder why The Hollywood Reporter parroted British talking points about Meghan circa 2018. William tried doing a bunch of stuff as Harry was getting press. He posed in front of some new London Air Ambulance Charity helicopters with David Beckham and he visited a company called Enso where he changed a tire. This week there was a story that Victoria Beckham doesn't like Meghan, but it seemed manufactured by the press. Prince William tried to poach Chef Jose Andres by putting him on the board of Earthshot, but Andres made it clear that he's still good friends with Harry. William still has that unattractive patchy beard because he wants Harry's style and life. Comments of the Week: Minutes (24:15) to end Kaiser's comment of the week is from sevenblue on the post where Tom Parker Bowles calls Charles “the loveliest man in the world.” Here's a link the photos Chandra mentioned where Camilla is scratching her vag. I remember when Camilla went maskless to a cooking event right after Charles tested positive for covid. My comment of the week is from Pinkosaurus on the post about Olivia Nuzzi filing a complaint with the FBI against her ex-fiance. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:15 I watched Thunder Force on Netflix and loved it. Chandra had to subscribe to ESPN+ due to DirectTV's feud with Disney. She is watching In the Arena with Serena Williams. Royals: Minute 4:15 to 21:00 The last time we recorded the Sussexes had arrived in Colombia. They pulled off that trip like professionals and the optics were amazing. Colombia's Vice President Francia Marquez said that Harry and Meghan's visit really highlighted tourism. We heard that it only cost Colombia less than $60,000 to provide security for them. The Sussexes did a great job making photos available to agencies. Emily Andrews let it slip that Buckingham Palace had talking points about this trip. King Charles went to Southport last week to visit the families of children who were murdered in a knife attack. Charles has been staying in Scotland at his smaller home, Birkhall, while other members of the family stay at Balmoral. Kate was seen headed to church there on August 25th. There was a story in GB News that Zara and Mike Tindall were being asked to relieve Prince William and Princess Kate. There's an undercurrent that William and Kate are incapable of doing their jobs. Prince Harry made a secret visit to the UK last week to go to his uncle Robert Fellowes' funeral. Harry stayed at Althorp with the Earl Spencer. You could tell that the Windsors were super mad they didn't know about Harry's visit ahead of time. The Windsors are mad at how much the Spencers support Harry. There's been a narrative in the British press that Harry wants to come back to the UK to do royal work. It's clearly coming from William's side. This narrative has been pushed by William for years. Chandra thinks this storyline is an attempt to distract from what's going on with Kate. Toward the end of this month Prince Harry is going to be in New York solo for UN climate week. He's going to speak at the Clinton Global Initiative. Prince William will not be going to NY on behalf of Earthshot despite pathetically trying to copykeen Harry's trip last year. We wonder why William and Kate didn't do any events during the Sussexes' trip. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: Minutes 21:00 to 31:30 This week both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt premiered their movies at the Venice Film Festival. Angelina is starring as opera star Maria Callas in the biopic Maria. She is getting Oscar buzz for that and it's coming out on Netflix. Braad is starring with George Clooney in the Apple streaming movie Wolfs. It was supposed to come out in theaters but that's not happening. Brad Pitt made his red carpet debut with Ines de Ramon. Brad and Angelina are covering People Magazine this week with the title “Brad and Angelina, their 8 year divorce, Can they Finally Move On,” as if Brad's legal battle against Angelina is mutual. The whole narrative comes from Brad and it's the same garbage we've seen from him for years as he uses legal means to continue to try and punish Angelina for leaving him after he abused her and their children. Brad Pitt looks pulled and puffy recently. There's been a shift in public perception about Brad Pitt, especially since Shiloh changed her last name. Comments of the week: Minutes 31:30 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from It Really Is You, Not Me on the post about Justin Theroux's engagement. My comments of the week are from HeatherC and Indica on Rosie's post about Oasis potentially adding US dates to their tour. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 7:15 We recorded on Friday this week instead of Thursday as usual. We both loved the Olympics and talk about our favorite events and athletes. Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni: Minutes 7:15 to 18:45 Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are costarring in the film This Ends with Us. The book is by Colleen Hoover and it's been criticized as romanticizing domestic abuse. I've read that the movie does the same thing. Justin Baldoni is directing the film, he bought the rights and hired a screenwriter. People noticed that he skipped the London premiere and that he hasn't posed with Blake Lively or done press with her. They also noticed that Blake and the author Colleen Hoove unfollowed Justin on Instagram. The Hollywood Reporter said that Lively and Baldoni's feud started in post-production, when Blake commissioned a separate edit of the film. Chandra thinks that Justin's edit is likely the one that made it to theaters. Blake's husband Ryan Reynolds also rewrote a key scene. THR next reported that Blake screened her own edit of the film at a book event for Colleen Hoover in June. It looks like she tried to take creative control of the film. At first we got vague stories that Baldoni created a difficult work environment. The stories about why people hate him were suspicious to me. He also is said to have made Blake feel bad about her postpartum body. Baldoni has hired the same PR crisis management firm that Johnny D-pp and Brad Pitt use. TMZ then reported that Blake felt uncomfortable around Justin because he kissed her too long in a scene and because he asked her trainer how much she weighed since he had to pick her up and has a bad back. An older interview from 2016 recently came out where Blake and Parker Posey were meangirling a Norwegian interviewer, ignoring her and talking to each other instead. This is how Blake has always been. Blake has been promoting the movie like it's a frothy romance and Justin is being serious and measured in his promotion. His production company has partnered with an anti domestic violence foundation and he has been talking about ending the cycle of abuse. Royals: Minutes 18:45 to 25:15 None of the major royals went to the Olympics in Paris. Will and Kate just recorded a brief video congratulations with celebrities afterwards. They didn't congratulate any of the individual athletes. The Daily Mail recently reported that Kate is still undergoing preventative chemotherapy, that she's still recovering and that we probably won't see her until Remembrance Day. This is the type of story we get about Kate every six months. Earlier this month the Sussexes gave an interview to CBS Sunday Morning on behalf of their new initiative through Archewell called The Parents Network, to provide support and resources for parents to protect their children from online harm. They included parents who had lost children to online bullying and to drugs purchased online. It's a great cause. Meghan was asked about her past suicidal ideation, which she opened up about during her interview with Oprah. I play a segment from their CBS Sunday Morning interview. Harry and Meghan have been working on this cause for some time. A couple of weeks ago it was reported that the Sussexes have accepted an invitation to visit Colombia. We didn't realize it would happen so soon. Harry and Meghan are in Colombia now and the photos and videos coming out are incredible. They're so warm and natural with people. They have been meeting with the Vice President Francia Marquez, they went to a theater performance and participated in a panel about Internet safety. Marquez saw their Netflix series and that's why she wanted to meet Meghan! Politics: Minutes 25:15 to 33:30 While we were off, Kamala Harris chose Minnesota governor Tim Walz as her running mate. Chandra thinks that Harris has a soft spot for dorky white men. We loved Harris and Walz's joint video interview. We hope she does more cooking videos. We want Harris to go on Hot Ones. Trump has been having a meltdown over Harris. He called her beautiful in that lispy interview with Elon Musk and may be conflicted about her for that reason. He hates being called weird. The Kamala HQ coms department does such a great job. Comments of the Week: Minutes 33:30 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Agnes on the post about Brad Pitt and George Clooney covering GQ magazine. My comment of the week is from Beana on the post about Mark Zuckerberg commissioning a seven foot statue of his wife, Priscilla Chan. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:00 I saw Twisters. It was more of a rental, but I liked Glen Powell in it. Chandra is looking forward to the Olympics, particularly the tennis. I've been watching 48 Hours episodes on YouTube. Chandra likes watching Snapped with her mom. Politics: Minutes 4:00 to 18:00 Last week when we talked Biden was still in the race although there were calls for him to step down. We also heard he has covid. Some of the top democratic brass were calling for Biden to step down, including Pelosi and Obama. Biden submitted his resignation on Sunday, July 21. In his announcement he endorsed Kamala Harris. This was not what the people asking for him to step down had planned for. They wanted an open convention and voting, which would have led to chaos. The Democratic party lined up behind Kamala and by late Monday night she had enough delegates to secure the party's nomination. She raised a record $100 million in just two days after Biden stepped down. She also got endorsements from so many people, including the Clintons, Nancy Pelosi, all the major democratic governors and many congresspeople. As of our recording on Thursday, July 25th at 2pm Eastern time, Barack Obama had not yet endorsed Kamala Harris. (He has since endorsed her, as I mentioned in an update.) We like how the Clintons supported Biden and endorsed Harris quickly. There's a groundswell of support for Harris. We both gave money to her campaign. We appreciate how enthusiastically Biden endorsed Harris. The tagline “We're not going back” is so good. Trump is thinking of dumping Vance as his running mate. We doubt that they even vetted Vance. Vance has a long history of saying terrible sh-t. One of the big stories this week was when people brought back comments Vance made in 2021-22 about “childless cat ladies” who are running the Democratic party. Jennifer Aniston clapped back at that. We wonder when Taylor Swift will endorse Harris. Royals: Minutes 18:00 to 25:45 This week the big news is that the Invictus Games are going to be in Birmingham in 2027. At lot of us were shocked because it seems so unsafe for Harry and Meghan to go back to the UK. There are three years until that happens and it seems premature to speculate about it. I play a segment from Zoom where we talk about the royals. We hope they have great security in Birmingham. Chandra hopes Meghan will never go back there but I think she'll go to support Harry. Prince Harry was interviewed as part of the ITV documentary, Tabloids on Trial, which aired this week. He talked about the press portraying his mother as paranoid when she was being hacked. His own brother called their mother paranoid in his 2021 statement on the Dyson investigation into Martin Bashir's interview with Diana. We talked about that in episode 130. I play a segment from Harry's interview. Harry is so diplomatic and explains what happened to him so well. We hope that he knows that his family is behind the press attacks on him. Comments of the Week: Minutes 25:45 to end Kaiser's comment of the week is from Lurker M on the post about Biden's address to the nation. My comment of the week is from Lightpurple on Kismet's post covering June Squibb's interview. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 7:00 I saw the movie Thelma twice in theaters. It's one of my favorite movies of all time. Chandra was watching Wimbledon and her favorite, Daniil Medvedev, got to the semifinal. Chandra has also been watching YouTube reaction channels. Her favorite is MANIACITV. She also recommends I-9ine5ive. Royals: Minutes 7:00 to 20:00 The last time we talked Kate had made her return after six months at Trooping the Color. She's since been seen at Wimbledon at the men's final. She did not attend the women's final. We're hearing now that she'll be on vacation for several months for summer, which is what she's done for some time. There was just a story about how she no longer lives by the calendar. There's a real effort to lionize her for going to a tennis match. We would like to see Kate reach out to other cancer patients and charities. As we mentioned in episode 176, the Middletons are also back from their insolvency crisis. They popped back up the minute Kate came out again. They were at Wimbledon this year and were even in the royal box. Chandra remembers when Kate waved to her parents in the cheap seats at Wimbledon. The big story the past couple of weeks was about Prince Harry receiving the Pat Tillman award at the ESPYs. After the award was announced and before the ESPYS happened the British press tried to smear Harry. There were so many articles trashing Harry for receiving this award. ESPN commentator Pat McAfee was one of the naysayers. He is an idiot and an antivaxxer. The Daily Mail got Pat Tillman's mother on the record to say that Harry is divisive. ESPN and former Pat Tillman award recipients defended Harry after that. Harry was so gracious at the ESPYs and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Of course the tabloids tried to spin it negatively. Charles and Camilla opened Parliament this week, decked out in stolen jewels and finery. They were met with large protests and Charles was seen snapping at a page boy. Prince William went to the Euro final, where he looked like a hooligan. Politics: Minutes 20:00 to 30:30 Donald Trump was grazed by a bullet or some glass that ricocheted and hit the top of his ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania last weekend. The shooter was a 20-year-old registered Republican man and he was killed at the scene. One man in the crowd was shot and killed and two others were hurt. The whole scene was bizarre because Trump stood up right afterwards and was showboating, lifting his arm to the crowd. Security experts have said that you're supposed to shield a high profile target. So many security failures happened. It's doubtful anyone will stand up to Trump and it's known that he tried to attack a secret service agent who stood up to him on January 6. Trump is doing open air events because he didn't pay venues in 2020. We remember when Trump left his rally goers stranded out in the cold. That was in Omaha, we remembered it wrong. Trump picked his Vice President, and it's Hillbilly Elegy author and freshman senator from Ohio J.D. Vance. Vance is married to an Indian-American lawyer and has three children with her. The MAGAs hate that and of course they're being racist about his family. Unfortunately Biden has covid. Biden did not do that well at the debate a couple weeks ago, but he's since done interviews and he's been excellent. Plus of course the press focused on Biden's performance instead of the fact that Trump tried to overthrow the government, that he lies constantly and that he's a convicted felon. There are calls for him to step down and it's ridiculous. There is not enough support for Kamala. Biden is also said to be making changes to the Supreme Court. Comments of the week: Minutes 30:30 to end Chandra's COTW is from Oh_Hey on the post about Angelina Jolie requesting Brad Pitt's communications around the 2016 plane incident. It clear that Pitt's team is using bots to control the narrative. My comment of the week is from Bumblebee on the post about bread and chips at restaurants. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:30 We're glad we took last week off. I've been watching Dark Matter on Apple TV with Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly. Chandra watched Bridgerton season three and Late Night with the Devil. She also loved Kendrick Lamar's live concert. Royals: Minutes 6:30 to 25:15 We got a photo and announcement from Princess Kate last Friday. She said she would be at Trooping but we did not expect to really see her. We wonder who has been making the decisions at Kensington Palace. We have heard for weeks that we shouldn't expect to see Kate until the autumn and maybe not all year. Her appearance at Trooping was a big surprise, especially since she missed the rehearsal. We wonder why so many fake videos and photos were released of Kate the past few weeks. The narrative after Kate's appearance was typical. Allison Pearson at the Telegraph ran a fawning over the top piece about how amazing Kate was for showing up at Trooping. The subtitle of the piece was “When lesser mortals would have stayed at home, Catherine proved that the show goes on.” It looks like Kensington Palace has taken over the messaging again as it's very tone deaf. Kate is covering People Magazine this week. King Charles' biographer Catherine Mayer gave the quote that “However difficult, or otherwise, this has been for Kate, appearing was an act of service under the terms of the institution she is part of.” Meghan sent jam and dog biscuits to Harry's best friend Nacho Figueras. Nacho posted photos of his dog, I think it's a whippet, next to the biscuits and the jam, which was labeled 2/2. Meghan was just sending a gift to a friend, it's not like she was doing it to overshadow Kate. Instead there was an article in the Daily Beast with a source who said “You just have to ask yourself, who would set out to ruin a cancer-sufferer's day? It is absolutely pathetic.” It's likely Meghan sent that jam days before anyone knew Kate would go to Trooping. I play a segment from Zoom where we talk about the royals. We saw Carole and Michael Middleton at Royal Ascot. This was surprising, because there were stories as of late last week about how they didn't even pay the insolvency firm that helped them restructure and sell Party Pieces. Kate did not go to Royal Ascot and she also didn't go to the big Order of the Garter investiture ceremony earlier this week. She let everyone know that she would not be at those ceremonies. She's expected to be at Wimbledon in early July. Comments of the Week: Minutes 25:15 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from sevenblue on the post about Kendrick Lamar's live concert on Amazon prime.Kendrick has been making hip hop history. My comment of the week is from lanne on the post about the details of Justin Timberlake's DUI arrest. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes to 6:15 I loved the Fall Guy and am on the second season of AMC's Interview with the Vampire. Chandra enjoyed Challengers. Royals: Minutes 6:15 to 21:30 We've talked for years about this common narrative from the British Press where they'll come up with something the Sussexes need to attend and cover it endlessly. They've done this with Hugh Grosvenor's wedding since the invitations went out in December. Roya Nikkhah, a journalist who regularly gets exclusives from William, reported in The Times that Harry and Meghan weren't invited, which was not true. Then we heard that Harry was invited, but he declined. Chandra thinks that story was pushback from Hugh and Harry to William's narrative. They tried to spin it like Harry declined because William is going to be an usher and Harry is jealous or something. People magazine reported that Harry and Hugh talked on the phone and realized that it would be best if Harry didn't come. We haven't seen Kate since Christmas apart from her video announcement. We've heard Kate is not likely to be at Trooping the Colour on June 15th. She's also not expected to attend any events around the state visit from the Emperor and Empress of Japan on June 25th to 27th. William was asked about Kate this week by a WWII veteran during events ahead of D-Day. William said she's getting better. Just last week People and US claimed that Kate was seen out running errands including making a trip to a chocolate shop with William. This is very bizarre messaging. It seems like Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace are not on the same page. Much of the narrative is to protect William. Kate is covering US Magazine, and the article is getting a lot of attention on social media because of the quote that “she may never come back in the role that people saw her in before.” Richard Eden in the Daily Mail said a couple of weeks ago that Kate might not be seen until autumn and then Tom Sykes in the Daily Beast reported from sources that she won't be back until next year. It feels like a different narrative keeps taking over and being taken back. Shiloh Jolie: Minutes 21:30 to 26:15 Shiloh Jolie, who is now 18, filed to have Pitt officially dropped as her last legal name. She hired her own lawyer and filed the paperwork herself. We've previously heard that Vivienne, who turns 16 next month, is only using Jolie as her last name, and that Zahara is only using Jolie as her last name in college. Brad Pitt and his children have been estranged for years since he abused and terrorized them on an airplane in 2016. A source told People that Brad Pitt is “aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He's never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter.” Brad and Angelina already had daughter Zahara for a year when Shiloh was born. All of Brad's statements to outlets about this have been self-centered and lack any remorse or responsibility. We hope the public sees him for who he is soon. Comments of the Week: Minutes 26:15 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Miranda on the post about Trump getting convicted finally. My comment of the week is from Jennifer on the post about Jennifer Lopez canceling her tour. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:45 We will be off next week due to Memorial Day. I finished watching From on MGM+ and also watched Blown Away on Netflix. Chandra remembers the show Flea Market Flip with Ali Wentworth on HGTV. The documentary she remembers is called Craft in America and was on PBS. Royals: Minutes 4:45 to 25:30 Last week, as we were recording, the news had just come out that the Sussexes were going to be in Nigeria the next day. There were so many stories, pictures and videos of their visit, but it was mostly limited to Getty and social media. Their visit was announced late, and we think that was to keep British journalists from traveling to Nigeria to cover their tour. It was hard to source stories and photos, but we loved that they weren't being held up by protocol. They gave a lot of personal time to the causes and people they visited. Meghan was declared a princess of Nigeria by four kings. That was such a moving gesture and you could tell Meghan was touched. Nigeria pulled out all the stops for the Sussexes. People love the Sussexes because they are so genuine. During their tour they were getting invitations from other countries to visit. I play a segment of Meghan's speech at the Women in Leadership panel in Nigeria. There was a lot of racism and toxicity in the British press around that visit. Nigerian Twitter united to call it out. It seemed like Buckingham Palace gave the press the go ahead to attack the Sussexes. We've also heard that Charles is trying to block Harry and Meghan from visiting more commonwealth countries, similar to how Charles tried to block the Bidens from being hospitable toward them. We mentioned in our last episode that Charles had scheduled a handover event to give William the title of colonel in chief of the Army Air Corps, which was Prince Harry's regiment when he served two tours in Afghanistan. That little event happened, William cosplayed as Harry, dressed like him and took a ride in an Apache helicopter. The optics were terrible, because William wants to be Harry and falls short in every way. The Sussexes are covering this week's People and it's such a contrast to last week's weird cover story that centered how William was coping with his wife's illness. There are direct quotes from Harry and Meghan saying how well they're doing and that they're going to plan more visits. I play a clip from Zoom with Karen, Zakia and Ameerah, where we talked about the Nigerian tour. Like Karen mentioned on Zoom, the Sussexes got a lot of gifts. Of course there are calls for them to give them back. The British press is trying to make it sound like they got extravagant gifts. Chandra remembers when Camilla was gifted diamonds by the Saudis. Archewell was briefly “delinquent” with their registration in the state of California, but that was a simple mixup by the Attorney General's office which lost a check. The check was sent by certified mail and was delivered. Governor Newsom spoke out on their behalf. This week we also saw more of William's alleged one time mistress, Rose Hanbury. She was at the Badminton Horse Trials where she was photographed with Camilla. Rose and her husband, David Rocksavage, were also at an OBE service where their son was the page for Charles and Camilla. Comments of the Week: Minutes 25:30 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Sunday on the post about Rose Hanbury's reemergence. My comments of the week are from Harla A Brazen Hussy and StellainNH on the post about King Charles' new portrait by Jonathan Yeo. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 8:00 I saw an alligator with her babies when I was in Florida. Chandra's cat captured a chipmunk who looked dead but then escaped. I watched Fallout on Amazon Prime, Files of the Unexplained on Netflix and a mystery horror show on MGM+ called From. Chandra watched The Idea of You and Dune 2. Royals: Minutes 8:00 to 26:00 We still haven't seen Kate. William was asked about Kate and their kids earlier this month and he said “we're all doing well.” A fashion designer who dresses the children said in an interview “I think they are going through hell, I hope they will be back.” When The Times reported on Prince Charles' visit to a cancer center on April 30th they included the detail that Kate “is expected to be away from public duties for some time.” There's no timeline for when she might return. William is on the cover of this week's People Magazine. He's the focus and center of the story, with very little details about how Kate and the kids are doing. There's a narrative that any questions about Kate's condition are “bullying” and mean to her, when it's more about the messaging around her illness. Anyone who points out the fake photos and videos the palace has been putting out are somehow hurting Kate according to their narrative. We wonder when the international press will start to call them out. Harry went to the 10th year anniversary service for Invictus at St. Paul's Cathedral in London on Wednesday and got a rock star reception. Harry's relatives on his mother's Spencer side were out in full force, but none of the Windsors came. They held a garden party at the same time because they're just that petty. We heard that Harry requested ahead of time to see his father but was told Charles was too busy. Harry's spokesperson issued a simple statement about that. Richard Kay reported that “there had been no formal request from either the King or his son to schedule a meeting.” Royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths suggested the meeting fell through because Harry didn't want Camilla in the room when he met Charles. Kay also reported that Harry didn't request housing. Camilla has been leaking like crazy. They also announced a military honors event in which Charles will officially hand off Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps to William. They made the announcement about William getting that title last year, but this is a made up handover event to try to pull focus from Harry. The Army Air Corps is Harry's regiment with which he served two tours in Afghanistan. The Sussexes have been invited by the Nigerian government to visit. As we were recording, the news had just come out that they would arrive the next day, Friday. The British envoy in Nigeria has admitted he had no idea about the visit and is not involved in scheduling. Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef: Minutes 26:00 to 37:00 Drake had been trying to bait Kendrick for months before he finally responded with some of the most epic songs in rap battle history. We talk about the BBL Drizzy phenomenon, starting with the King Willonius song and evolving into Metro Boomin's BBL Drizzy challenge. After Drake's cheap shot at Kendrick, Family Matters, Kendrick dropped Meet The Grahams and then Not Like Us, which is breaking records. After that Drake released The Heart Part 6 in which he tells on himself and reveals that he doesn't understand Kendrick's lyrics. There was a shooting at Drake's house recently and one of his bodyguards was injured. Drake has feuds with so many people in his industry. Meghan Thee Stallion's HISS is likely about Drake. Comments of the Week: Minutes 37:00 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from PaddingtonJr on the post about Harry at the Invictus anniversary service. My comments of the week are from MrsFonzieFace, K and Eowyn on the post about Robert F Kennedy Jr. having a dead worm in his brain. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 I met our Celebitchy Zoom group in person! I talk about my friend's tiny dog. Chandra had an encounter with a Great Dane. Royals: Minutes 6:00 to 24:00 Our last episode, #171, was two weeks ago. We had just seen the video of Princess Kate revealing that she had cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. We were hit with over a hundred comments from new accounts all saying variations of the same thing right after that video was released. Christopher Bouzy has called out the bots on Twitter. The NY Times published an article in early 2020 about the then-Cambridges buying Instagram bot followers. In podcast #170 we talked about the Mother's Day frankenphoto. Major photo and news agencies issued a kill order for that photo. In light of that, and the very bizarre and obviously not Kate market video released by the Sun and TMZ, some people have questioned the video of Kate announcing her cancer. We wonder what's happening and Chandra has no theories. The video was filmed by BBC studios and we haven't heard many details about it. There were thinkpieces in the Washington Post and the NYT about the conspiracies. Getty images put editor's notes on the photo and video and refused to comment further about it. Last week one of the biggest royal stories was about how the Middletons are so broke they didn't even pay the insolvency firm that restructured their business, Party Pieces, when they sold it and went into bankruptcy. It's clear that the press has been given the go-ahead to go after the Middletons. There were multiple stories about this. Uncle Gary's appearance on Celebrity Big Brother underlined that the Middletons are broke. The British press always invents some new thing the Sussexes have to go to. There's a ceremony for Invictus's anniversary in May in London. England also wants to host Invictus in 2027, but hopefully Harry will not fall for that. Charles is also said to have invited the Sussexes to Balmoral this summer. Other major stories are about how the monarchy is now way too slimmed-down and how Beatrice and Eugenie need to be working royals to pick up the slack. We're also hearing BS about how Meghan supposedly got between Kate and Harry because they were so close before Meghan came around, which sounds like royal fan fiction. Harry wrote in Spare that he barely saw William and Kate. Harry has a wife whom he adores and this storyline is offensive. I like what Chandra wrote about the press in her piece about Peter Philips being unlucky in love. The palace comms departments are quiet and the royal rota has been left to make up storylines. We also heard that William was seen at a pub in Norfolk with Carole Middleton! Comments of the Week: Minutes 24:00 to end Chandra's COTW is from Brassy Rebel on the post about Beatrice and Eugenie covering Hello. My COTW is from Samuel Whiskers on the post about loofahs harboring bacteria. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 5:15 We will be off for a couple of weeks due to Easter. I watched Dream Scenario on HBO with Nicolas Cage. He's a great actor but I don't recommend it. I really liked The Map of Tiny Perfect Things on Amazon. It reminds Chandra of The Summer I Turned Pretty. She's been watching Tennis but her favorite, Daniil Medvedev, didn't win Indian Wells. Royals: Minutes 5:15 to 22:45 Over the weekend we got a cover story in the Sun that Kate was seen out shopping with William at a farmer's market. Then on Monday we saw a super grainy faraway video where the person supposed to be Kate is kind of bouncing around carrying a large bag. The woman in the video didn't exactly look or walk like Kate. Assuming that was Kate, it reflects poorly on the Waleses because she hasn't done any events since Christmas. Also, if that was Kate in the photo in the car with her mom, her face has since thinned out. After TMZ published the video of Kate at the farmer's market, their executive producer said he wasn't sure it was her. There's still fallout from the Frankenphoto too. Before we got the whole fake Kate video, Kensington Palace did a sourced story with the Times of London again explaining that Kate edited that photo, that she feels bad about the fallout and that she's just trying to make her family look good. The quote that really stood out is where they called out the press agencies for noticing how janky that photo was. As Obama's photographer Pete Souza said on Instagram, there's a difference between adjusting the lighting or cropping a photo and pasting in different people. The royal rota tried to accuse Harry and Meghan of editing their photos, but the photographers, Misan Harriman and Chris Allerton, said that wasn't true. Part of the Frankenphoto fallout is that the wire agencies are reviewing all the photos ever submitted to them by Kensington Palace. One photo that's particularly bad was released after the Queen's death on what would have been her 97th birthday in 2023. It shows her at Balmoral on a couch with a bunch of her great grandchildren posing around her. That was obviously cobbled together from several photos. Getty added an editor's note that “the image has been digitally enhanced at source,” and Reuters has announced that it's “updating its procedures related to vetting images from Kensington Palace.” Another really janky photo featuring the great grandchildren was released after Philip died. As we talked about last week, there's renewed interest in Prince William's alleged 2019 affair with Rose Hanbury. Rose's lawyer went on the record to Business Insider last weekend to say the rumors are false. Other pundits are also defending her. Chandra thinks that the affair has been over a while. As part of the fallout from that, people have noticed stolen Qing Dynasty artifacts in family photos taken of Rose and her husband, David Rocksavage. We talk about the $10 million brooch that Camilla wore for an outing, which seemed meant to troll Kate. Buckingham Palace, Prince Charles and Camilla's office, seems pleased that Kensington Palace, Kate and William's office, is screwing this up so badly. They don't understand that it reflects poorly on them too and that most people don't get the distinction. Meghan has announced her new lifestyle brand, it's called American Riviera Orchard. I will definitely buy what she's selling and so will so many other people. So far she has just shown the logo and they have a one page website with an email signup. We also heard this week that three hospital staffers are under investigation for trying to access Kate's medical records at the London clinic where she was treated. Kate's cancer announcement: Minutes 22:45 to 27:30 We recorded this section on Friday after Kate made the announcement that she has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy. Hopefully she is OK and will make a full recovery. Comments of the Week: Minutes 22:45 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from ML on the post about Archie's Christening pics being called out incorrectly for edits. My comment of the week is from Olivia on Rosie's post about Kevin James losing 60 pounds by not eating for 40 days. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 1:00 We were off due to the Oscars! Royals: Minutes 1:00 to 27:30 The royals' mistreatment of Harry and Meghan is finally boomeranging back on them. It's been obvious to us what's happening but now the world is finally noticing. Harry and Meghan were explaining their situation to the casual royal watchers with their docuseries and with Spare. It was about 70 days after we last saw Kate before we got the first alleged photo of her. That was the photo supposedly taken of her on Monday March 4th in an Audi with her mom, outside Windsor Castle. TMZ and other US outlets bought that exclusive photo. There were questions about its authenticity. Kensington Palace said it was not an authorized photo. KP also put a lot of pressure on British media to not publish the pic and it was mostly in the US outlets like TMZ. Assuming it was real, it really seems like Carole and the Middletons arranged it. On March 8th, Meghan was in Austin at South by Southwest for a scheduled panel discussion. She made some really measured comments about the hate she got when she was pregnant. A lot of the negative stories about Meghan when she was pregnant were from William trying to deflect from his affair with Rose Hanbury. I think that the frankenphoto release was meant to pull focus from Meghan's comments at SXSW and Chandra says that it could have always been the plan. We got a new photo supposedly of Kate and the kids from Kensington Palace on March 10th, Mother's Day in the UK. They claimed that William had taken the photo. The picture looked really janky. The news outlets noticed this and issued a “kill order” for that photo. The palace was asked to provide the original photo and they refused for hours on Sunday. I play a clip of AFP News director Phil Chetwynd talking about this. CNN has also announced that it's reviewing all the photos issued from Kensington Palace. The Palace then posted a tweet supposedly from Kate claiming that she was the one who edited the photo. This spawned so many memes and AI photos. Experts told major news outlets that the errors were due to a photo editing app. People showed that her head was cut and pasted into that photo from her 2016 British Vogue cover. Chandra thinks the original photo of Kate and the kids is from last fall. The palace tried to double down and continue to blame Kate. They ran a story in The Times of London Tuesday claiming that Kate just wanted to release a nice picture, she feels bad about it, and she edited it because she just wanted her kids to look good. We got a third photo supposedly of Kate on Monday March 11, in a car with William and looking away. That photo looks fake too! I even saw a video on Twitter where someone thinks they have the exact older image of Kate that was used. The photographer vouches for it though. Assuming the photo is real, we can't even verify it's her. Chandra think it's someone else. As this eas making international news, Colbert did a segment on Tuesday night about William's affair with Rose Hanbury. Remember that William tried to shut that story down back when it broke in March of 2019. Colbert even made a reference to William getting his mistress pregnant! We know that the palace is livid about this because the Telegraph ran a story about it and said The Late Show didn't warn the palace that they were going to run that segment. The British media regularly does this when they cover the royals. The Guardian did a summary of Colbert's opener and in their initial story they included Rose's name but then they edited it out! Even the royal-friendly journalists and outlets were calling William and Kensington Palace out about it! Camilla went on vacation last week, supposedly due to being under strain and fighting with William. Charles was seen on Wednesday at a photo op at Buckingham Palace. Chandra is surprised that Buckingham Palace hasn't taken a side on this PR disaster either way. William is in no way ready or suited to be king. Comment of the Week: Minutes 27:30 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Cerys on the post where the DM questions whether they can trust anything that comes out of Kensington Palace. My comment of the week is from Little Penguin on the Best of the Oscars post. Thanks for listening bitches!
Sign up for our mailing list There are mailing list signups on the last few podcast posts on our site, accessible through the podcast link at the top of our menu. Thank you! Introduction: Minutes 0 to 7:30 The Oscars are next weekend so we won't have a podcast unless something huge breaks. Since we last talked Chandra and I both saw American Fiction, that was my favorite. Chandra liked it but wanted it to focus more on Issa Rae's character. She thought The Zone of Interest was very disturbing, but loved Poor Things. She is also watching Capote vs. The Swans and loves the performances. If Emma Stone takes home the Oscar over Lily Gladstone, Chandra is fine with that. Royals: Minutes 7:30 to 29:00 In our last podcast we mentioned Charles' cancer diagnosis and Kate disappearance following abdominal surgery. Kate has not been seen in over 60 days. A Kensington Palace spokesperson gave a snotty statement about it to Page Six that did not reveal much. Their PR is so terrible. On February 15th the Sussexes made a three day trip to Canada to do events ahead of next year's winter Invictus Games. Harry had an interview with Good Morning America. The Sussexes also launched Sussex.com and Meghan got a podcast deal with Lemonada media. They're getting positive coverage apart from silly criticism. Harry was also criticized for answering questions about visiting his father. At first we heard that William, who is BAFTAs president, was not going to attend the BAFTAs on February 18th. That's pretty typical for him. However after Harry and Meghan got so much press for their Canada trip, he announced that he was going. A photo went viral where William was talking backstage to actresses, including Ayo Edebiri and Phoebe Dynevor, who were looking at him skeptically. It turned out that Prince William had made a very inappropriate comment to Mia McKenna-Bruce about her movie. He was very unprepared to meet the actresses and admitted to not having watched any of their films. On Tuesday the 20th, William issued a statement on the Middle East crisis, which no one was asking him about. William was scheduled to visit the British Red Cross and could have just issued a statement about their work instead. On Thursday, February 29th, William went to an event at a synagogue in central London to discuss anti-Semitism. Kate was originally scheduled to go with him to that event. We remember when Kate did an event with Holocaust survivors in 2021 in which she was engaged and charming. After William's statement on the Middle East and after he looked drunk at an investiture ceremony, Piers Morgan published a story about how William has been drinking wine since he was 13. On Tuesday February 27th there was a memorial service in London for King Constantine II of Greece, who passed last January. Neither Charles nor William went to the funeral in Greece in 2023. Charles announced ahead of time that he would not make it to this memorial. William was scheduled to give a reading, but canceled less than an hour before. It became international news. At the service were Camilla, at the head of the procession to the church, and Prince Andrew and Fergie were also upfront. Also there were Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. She's a notorious racist. The Kents' son-in-law, Thomas Kingston, passed away at just 45 in Gloucester on Sunday. His death was not announced for two days and his in laws went to that memorial service before the news got out. The press announced that William's absence at the memorial wasn't due to Thomas's death. Meanwhile there are all these stories about how the monarchy is fragile and the cracks are showing now. The way the Waleses have bungled their own PR is astounding. Here's a link to the story Chandra mentioned from The Daily Beast. Comments of the Week: Minutes 29:00 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Walking the Walk on the post about Harry losing his case over royal protection while in the UK. My comment of the week is from Christine on the post about the Willy Wonka kids experience in Scotland. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 5:45 I cut my finger and needed stitches. I saw the movie Chandra recommended in our last episode, Anatomy of a Fall, and loved it. May December was OK. I really liked Nyad and it inspired me to work out. We're looking forward to seeing Poor Things and American Fiction. Royals: Minutes 5:45 to 24:00 While we were off, Kate was hospitalized for abdominal surgery. The surgery was successful and she will need months of recovery. Right after the news broke about Kate's surgery, it was reported that Charles was scheduled for treatment for an enlarged prostate. Kate's medical condition is unclear. We heard that William's focus was on his family, that he was visiting Kate and taking care of his kids. However he was only seen at the London clinic where Kate was recovering once. We didn't hear about the Middletons or Kate's children visiting her. Charles' prostate procedure was at the same hospital, and Camilla was seen visiting several times. There was a story that photographers were only allowed outside the hospital for a day during Kate's hospitalization but Camilla showed that wasn't true. We heard that Charles visited Kate when they were in the same hospital, but not that William visited Charles. Camilla was happy to be representing the royal family and did a few events when Charles was hospitalized. There were stories about how she's the power behind the throne and the last one standing. William reportedly picked Kate up from the hospital on Monday January 29th at 11 am. She is said to be recovering at home. There weren't any photos of William at the hospital. Just a few hours later Camilla picked up Charles from the same hospital and they were photographed walking out together. On Monday February 5th in the afternoon our time we heard that Prince Charles has cancer! At that point he had known for a week. So Camilla's appearances after his diagnosis and before the announcement to the public looked cold, especially considering the messaging around that. Stories in the Spanish press claimed Kate's condition was dire despite the reporting that she was fine and recovering. Palace sources denied that she had been in a coma. The Spanish reporter who broke that story, Concha Calleja, said in an interview after that she trusts her sources and stands by her reporting. Starting around the time of the King's prostate procedure, the rota was griping “where's Harry?” Right after the announcement of Charles' cancer diagnosis, it was reported that Harry would travel to England. Harry arrived in London on Tuesday, and he went straight to Clarence house. He only met with Charles for 45 minutes, tops, at Clarence House. They met alone, and Camilla was not there. Charles left in a helicopter for Sandringham afterwards. Harry stayed at a hotel Tuesday night and left Wednesday morning. There's been a steady chorus of “Harry should come back, and maybe Meghan too” They're trashing Harry for visiting his dad and making it very clear what they'll do to the Sussexes. We know that Harry didn't see William because we heard that William refused to meet with him and doesn't trust him. Of course there were stories attacking Harry for daring to come to the UK to see his father. William stood in for Charles at an investiture service on Wednesday. He did not look sober. That night William went to an air ambulance charity event. A reporter asked a question and he said "We really appreciate everyone's kind messages." A source told the Daily Mail that's about all the work we can expect from William for a while. William does not seem willing to do the work to be king and Charles does not want to cede any power to him. William is so focused on hating Harry. Comments of the Week: Minutes 24:00 to end Chandra's COTW is from Harper on the post about Prince William not wanting to take on extra responsibilities. My COTW is from Jais on the post about Tracy Chapman's performance at the Grammys. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 10:00 We'll be off next week due to the Emmy Awards. I have been watching dumb shows like a mini golf competition show called Holey Moley. Chandra watched so many of the prestigious movies over the break including Killers of the Flower Moon, Priscilla, The Holdovers, Saltburn, Past Lives, Asteroid City, Joy Ride, Anatomy of a Fall, Oppenheimer and the Indiana Jones movie! She loved Anatomy of a Fall and is rooting for that movie. It's a character story and legal drama with a smart script. She also liked The Holdovers and Oppenheimer, but hated Killers of the Flower Moon. Golden Globes: Minutes 10:00 to 17:45 The Globes were last Sunday. Host Jo Koy bombed and the celebrities gave him a frosty reception. The big TV winners were Succession and The Bear. Oppenheimer won Best Picture – Drama and Poor things won for Musical or Comedy. Barbie won for a new category called Cinematic Achievement. We appreciate how Greta Gerwig took a risk on Barbie. The biggest stories from the Globes were about the cutaway scenes. Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet did not walk the carpet together but they sat together. They seemed so into each other and kept kissing. Selena Gomez was caught on camera gossiping to Taylor Swift and Miles Teller's wife Keleigh. A lot of people thought she was saying that Kylie refused to let Selena take a selfie with Timothee but a source told People that wasn't true. Selena made a comment later that “I told Taylor about two of my friends that hooked up.” There are rumors that it's Meryl Streep and Martin Short! I hope it's happening but Martin's rep said they're just friends. Also at the Golden Globes there was a mini Suits reunion. Patrick Adams, Gabriel Macht, Gina Torres and Sarah Rafferty presented. I saw an interview where Gabriel acted like he didn't know who Meghan was. Gina Torres said in another interview that they don't have Meghan's phone number and she's not on the group chat. Some people think that Gina was fibbing to cover for Meghan. Chandra mentions that the Suits cast is protective of her. Of course she was invited to the Globes. Royals: Minutes 17:45 to 22:00 The Epstein Files came out recently. I downloaded the first batch and they were mostly court documents for Virginia Guiffre's case. Prince Andrew is heavily implicated. Prince Charles is reportedly worried about Andrew but plans to make him pay for security and the renovations to Royal Lodge, which Will and Kate want for themselves. There is a story that Charles is never going to evict Andrew, but that sounds straight from Andrew. William is said to want Charles to come down harder on Andrew while Charles probably doesn't want to rock the boat. Comments of the Week: Minutes 22:00 to end Kaiser's comment of the week is from Erin on the post about the SAG nomination snubs. My comment of the week is from Blue Nails Betty on the post about doing less in 2024. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 This is our last podcast of 2023 and we plan to be back January 13. I watched The Happiest Season on Hulu and loved it. Chandra watched May December and enjoyed it but says it's a downer. I'm excited for Reacher season two. Chandra will start the final episodes of The Crown. She tried watching Red, White & Royal Blue but it made her feel old. I watched the documentaries The Mission on Disney and Bad Surgeon on Netflix. Royals: Minutes (6:00) to 23:15 Last week on Friday Kate had her third annual Together at Christmas concert. This was one of her successes that Omid Scobie mentioned in Endgame. Camilla and Charles didn't go. Sophie, Beatrice, Zara, Eugenie and Kate's family including her sister and her mom and dad came. The Middletons have been keeping a low profile since their business went bankrupt, owing creditors millions. Kate wore an all white suit that was straight out of Meghan's lookbook. In last week's episode #165 we talked about the fact that the royal racists, Kate and Charles, were accidentally released in the Dutch translation of Omid Scobie's Endgame. Scobie wrote an essay for iNews in which he explained how that happened. We also mentioned last week that the royals had crisis talks and were planning a “charm offensive” in response to Endgame. There were some vague legal threats in the press but they plan to just act like everything is fine like they always do. King Charles visited the court that will preside over Prince Harry's case against the Mirror just a day before their ruling! Chandra doesn't think Prince Harry will win his royal protection case but that he's pursuing it so that it's all on the record. Part of the “charm offensive” involves the royals doing more charity work, although Kate hasn't been seen much. There was an article that Kate would get revenge on the Sussexes by getting good press. Camilla Tominey had a series of articles about how Meghan hates Kate and it was clearly projection. Kate took all three of her children to visit a Baby Bank and they actually brought donations with them. It was one of the best things they've done in months, however they were criticized by anti-poverty advocates for normalizing charity instead of advocating for systemic change. William visited a charity for unhoused people he works with called Passages. He was seen hugging people and the Daily Mail reported on that and called him the “Prince of Hugs.” After Omid Scobie reported in Endgame that Prince Edward is a germaphobe the palace released a video where he's uncomfortably shaking people's hands. The Sussexes released a cute video of their charity work with Archewell this year along with the foundation's impact report. The press poured over the numbers and criticized them for only raising $2 million this year, which is ridiculous. They raised more in their first two years after starting their foundation, and they haven't “spent” all of that money. They also gave their staffers raises. Here's a link to one of the tweets Chandra mentions about royal staffers being jealous. Richard Eden wrote a column calling for Harry and Meghan's titles to be stripped and for Harry and his kids to be removed from the line of succession. This argument invalidates the whole “magic blood club” reasoning for the royalty if Harry can just be excluded. The Sun reported that a source said that Charles “will not be emotionally blackmailed by his own son” in regard to the royal racist reveal in the Dutch version of Endgame. Harry had nothing to do with Endgame and these people know how they treated him. Kate and William released a black and white family Christmas photo. They were all wearing black jeans and white button down shirts and it was giving Olan Mills 1994. We wonder why they didn't make it more Christmassy. Us Weekly reported that they were embarrassed by that. Comments of the week: Minutes (23:15) to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Nic919 the post about The Crown showing how Carole Middleton meddled in Kate's relationship with William. My comment of the week is from atlantababe on the post about Jennifer Aniston saying she didn't use an intimacy coordinator on the set of The Morning Show. Thanks for listening bitches! Happy holidays and hope you have an excellent new year!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 We should have an episode out next week and will be off three weeks for the holidays. I watched a cult documentary I paid $4 for on Amazon called The Deep End. Chandra is watching The Gilded Age and still loves it. Royals: Minutes (6:00) to 24:00 As we mentioned last week, the Dutch translation of Omid Scobie's Endgame named the racist royals who had concerns about the baby's skin color. Harry and Meghan first mentioned that in their Oprah interview and did not name the royal racists. To recap, Meghan named the two royal racists in her correspondence with Charles, but those names were not in any of the editions of Endgames except the Dutch one. Scobie claimed he never submitted a book that had their names in it. He said that most of the Fleet Street reporters know who they are, however. Scobie's publisher, HarperCollins, is going to conduct an inquiry as to how the names got into the Dutch translation. We know Meghan has the receipts. Meanwhile the royals are doing the most to show they're not racist except own up to it. Kate's dodgy uncle Gary did a column for The Daily Mail where he defended Kate by saying she can't be racist because he and Kate's mom grew up in West London. Sir Kenneth Olisa, the first black Lord-Lieutenant of London, also defended the royals. The Daily Mail has said that the royals are taking a “charm offensive” approach to the racism allegations. Kate opened a new Children's Day Surgery at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London this week where she was photographed with people of color. Charles, William and Kate also had crisis talks. These seem to have worked somewhat in that coverage is no longer focused on Endgame. The Telegraph claimed a royal source is urging the Sussexes to defend the Windsors against the racism claims. This is ridiculous considering the Windsor's "recollections may vary" response to the Oprah interview. Meanwhile Omid Scobie was asked in a BBC interview if he would apologize to the Windsors. Harry's old friend Hugh Grosevenor, the Duke of Westminster, is getting married this June. Hugh is close to Harry and William and is Louis's godfather. An initial report from Roya Nikkhah in The Times claimed that Hugh didn't invite Harry and Meghan to his wedding to “avoid a family clash in the House of Windsor.” Then the Daily Mail and The Telegraph did follow ups claiming that Hugh was sad about having to snub the Sussexes but that it's all Harry's fault. Page Six blew the lid off all that when they said that Harry got a “save the date” card for Hugh's wedding a few months ago and then called Hugh to tell him it was best that he didn't go. This was very tacky of William to use the Duke of Westminster to bash his brother. We wonder how the aristos will get get back at William. We also wonder if William will ever be king. Comments of the Week: Minutes 24:00 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from girl_ninja on Taylor Swift's Time Magazine person of the year article. My comment of the week is from DaveW on the post where Angie Harmon said her daughters play Rizzoli and Isles for her dogs when she's away. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 We'll have episodes out for the next two weeks and we'll be off for two or more weeks for the holidays. Last week I named the podcast #162 when it was actually #163. I watched the documentaries The Bleeding Edge on Netflix about the medical device industry and Love Has Won: The Cult of Mother God on HBO. Chandra recommends Fair Play on Netflix and she loves the second season of The Gilded Age. Royals: Minutes 6:00 to 28:15 Chandra tweeted last Saturday that she had signed an NDA to read Omid Scobie's Endgame and that Scobie lays out how “none of the left-behind Windsors can manage their way out of a paper bag.” The Telegraph ran a story on that claiming that Omid was sending his book to “Sussex Squad influencers.” We're floored by how good and thorough Endgame is and by Scobie's pithy cutting observations. It's an excellent book, well written and entertaining. It's a great read for both royal followers and for people with a casual interest. Endgame has so much more of Scobie's voice than Finding Freedom and it's so impressive. The British media is mischaracterizing Scobie's book and focusing on the wrong things. They called him misogynistic for mildly criticizing Kate's worth ethic. One of the big stories out of Endgame is that Meghan mentioned two names of royal racists who inquired about her baby's skin color when she was corresponding with King Charles after the Oprah interview. If you read the transcript of the Oprah interview, it's clear that there were “several conversations” about it, both when Harry first started dating Meghan and again when she was pregnant with Archie. We first heard about Meghan's correspondence with Charles earlier this year. Chandra thinks that this was leaked by Buckingham Palace as a way to explain why Meghan didn't go to the Coronation. Scobie was careful and didn't name the royal racists in Endgame, however the Dutch translation of the book named Charles. Scobie said in an interview that Fleet Street journalists were aware of the names of the two royal racists for some time. He has said it's not true that his book had the names in it. Piers Morgan claimed that Kate was named in that inaccurate translation too. William's press secretary Christian Jones bargained with renowned blackmailer and abuser Don Wootton to bury the story about William's affair with Rose Hanbury in exchange for negative stories about the Sussexes. Wootton is the one who published the details about the Sussexit in early 2020. When Harry tried to call out Jones for leaking details to Wootton the firm protected Jones over Harry. We heard about this in the Byline Times report in late October and Scobie has more details and a timeline. Jones leaked the news about the Sussexit as the statement was being written. Harry was threatened in 2020 by The Lord Chamberlain, the most senior officer in the royal household, who said Harry would face severe consequences if he didn't back down. Harry's security and financial support was later withdrawn although we wonder about the timeline. Piers Morgan also wrote in his column in The Sun that “Harry would do well to heed the warning of Dionysius the Tyrant who was left a broken man by his constant warmongering and got finally bumped off by his own fed-up family.” He's basically threatening that Harry will be murdered! Piers is close with Camilla. Morgan also mentioned Samantha Markle in that column, and we think he's behind her lawsuit against Meghan. Comments of the Week: Minutes 28:15 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Crowhood on the post about Linda Evangelista not wanting to hear a man breathing. My comment of the week is from Concern Fae on Rosie's post where Jennifer Garner was showing what's in her backpack. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:45 We were off for three weeks due to my health. I watched the docuseries The Billionaire, the Butler and the Boyfriend on Netflix, about L'oreal heiress Liliane Bettencourt. She reminds Chandra of the late great Duchess of Alba. Royals: Minutes (4:45) to 19:30 The Earthshot Awards and the Kenyan Tour were flops. King Charles had his 75th birthday on November 14th. Courtiers told Roya Nikkhah at the Times that Charles invited Harry to his 75th birthday party but Harry “snubbed” the invite. This was an obvious move by the palace to deflect from the mediocre Kenyan tour. A day later, the Archewell spokesperson went on the record to say Harry had not been invited and so there was no “snub.” Charles supposedly wanted Harry to call him for his birthday. Both Harry and Meghan called and talked to him along with sending a little happy birthday video with their kids. It definitely sounded like the palace briefed the media but then they did what they always do and claimed Harry and Meghan were the source. Kate gave a speech about early childhood as part of a symposium. They previewed it in The Telegraph and made it sound so groundbreaking. However it was super generic and basic like everything she does. I remember the Shaping Us claymation video they did earlier this year. Omid Scobie's Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival is out on November 28th. His last book, Finding Freedom, came out in August, 2020 and that was an international bestseller. We've been covering the excerpts from the book which were published in People Magazine. Harry's family snubbed him after the Queen died and worked to exclude Meghan. We heard some of this before but not the extent of it. The press claimed that Charles told Harry about the Queen dying but as Harry explained in Spare, he found out from the press as he was on a plane when it happened. Scobie also wrote that William sees Harry as a defector and that he thinks Harry and Meghan blindsided their family by going public with their issues. William also thinks that Harry is brainwashed by therapists and that he's California and self-important. Harry still has warmth for Charles though and that came through in Spare. Chandra thinks Camilla would rather they didn't talk. The Daily Mirror claimed that Scobie timed his book excerpt release to overshadow Kate's big girl speech. They royals are panicking about the book. The first half of The Crown season six is out now. We wonder how Peter Morgan will show Will and Kate's love story and if he'll just go with the official version. Comments of the week: Minutes (19:30) to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Berkeleyfarm on the post where William calls Harry Californian and self important. My comment of the week is from Jane on the post with Travis Kelce's old tweets. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 We'll be off next week. Chandra thinks the gossip will pick up when The Crown and Omid Scobie's book come out. I've been watching The Fall of the House of Usher. Chandra can't do ghosts or body horror. Chandra watched the Beckham series and loved it. Royals: Minutes 6:00 to 14:00 We're getting more details about the bankruptcy of the Middleton's business, Party Pieces. We talked about that in episode 153. Someone has been putting up posters in Bucklebury where the Middletons live calling them out for stiffing creditors and suppliers. We're wondering why there aren't any photos of the posters. The man who bought Party Pieces earlier this year, James Sinclair, said it's all the investment firm's fault and everything was fine before Carol sold half her business. These excuses don't add up. William and Kate are said to be divided over whether Prince George should go to boarding school at Eton where William and Harry went. It looks like they've been separated for some time. William went to the Rugby World Cup semifinal in France with George on Saturday. Then Kate went solo to another match on Sunday. Britney Spears: Minutes 14:00 to 20:30 Britney Spears has a new memoir coming out on October 24th called The Woman in Me. We're getting advanced details and she really dished the dirt. She talked about how she's been controlled and criticized since she was a teenager, and she revealed that Justin Timberlake got her pregnant when she was 18 or 19 and convinced her to have an abortion. She said he cheated on her with another celebrity. She also admitted that she made out with another guy, a choreographer named Wade Robson, when she was with Justin. We are sure Justin cheated a lot and we remember when he cheated on Jessica Biel. In response to this story a source told Entertainment Tonight that “Justin has been focusing on his own family… and just want[s] everyone to grow and evolve instead of continuing to bring up the past.” I read a quote from Lisa from the Eat, Pray, Britney podcast. We wonder how Justin Timberlake dumped Britney over text when not many of us were texting in 2002. Did he use a Blackberry? They had just come out in 2002 and Britney and Justin broke up in March of that year. Comments of the Week: Minutes 20:30 to end Kaiser's COTW is from Ameerah M on the post about Travis Kelce's love of fashion. My COTW is from Bee on the post where Jada Pinkett Smith said that people blamed her for Will smacking Chris Rock at the Oscars. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 3:30 We should have an episode out next week and then we'll be off on October 28th. I recently discovered a British woman on YouTube who feeds the foxes in her suburban neighborhood. I also love videos of huskies. Here's a link to the video I mention where the husky is complaining and the German Shepherd is chill. (The husky has since passed over the rainbow bridge.) Here's a link to the video Chandra mentions of the Husky who refuses to come in after it snowed. Chandra loves this interview with Daniil Medvedev from after he beat Alcaraz at the US Open. There's also a cute interview where he's doing a puzzle. Chandra is going to watch the Beckham docuseries. Royals: Minutes (3:30) to 20:00 Harry and Meghan were in New York City as part of their work with the Archewell Foundation for World Mental Health Day. They were in a terrible car chase with the paparazzi the last time they were in New York, in May. This time they brought a security team. Chandra thinks some of that security might be NYPD. The British press was snarky about their security. Harry and Meghan visited a school in Brooklyn and also took part in a discussion with at the World Mental Health Day Festival with families of children have been bullied online. They were on a panel with US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy. The Sussexes have been advocating for regulating social media for a long time. We remember Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen's testimony in Congress in late 2021 and Mark Zuckerberg's testimony in 2018. Congress is not regulating these awful social media companies because they have no clue. I pay a segment of Meghan's discussion on that panel. Chandra does not think Meghan will return to Instagram. We remember when her friend posted a photo of avocado toast and the press connected it to war and drought. The Waleses hired an entertainment producer, Pippa Harris, as director of their Royal Foundation. Pippa runs a production company with director Sam Mendes and is one of the producers of Call the Midwife. We're surprised that show is still running after 12 seasons but we both only watched the first two seasons. The story about William hiring Harris was written by Richard Eden and framed as if Harry and Meghan would be jealous of William. It was ridiculous. William's private secretary is leaving after the news that William wants to hire a CEO. Kate hasn't had a private secretary in over a year. She tried to hire someone but that woman quit before she started. The Waleses went to Birmingham for World Mental Health day where they spoke to young people. I thought Kate's speech was a little better than usual, but Chandra says she hasn't improved. William just gave basic examples of improving mental health like getting outdoors and talking to friends. The Royal Foundation also commissioned a survey of 3,000 young people on how mental health is important. Kate went to Nottingham Trent University to talk with students about mental health. She wore a cream Sezane sweater and skirt that was very Meghan. Kate and William also stepped out for an event with SportsAid, one of Kate's patronages. They talked to young athletes about mental health. Kate wore a blue Zara blazer and jeans. I say the royals need to redistribute their wealth and Chandra agrees. The royals own so much land and have massive wealth. Chandra mentions that William is no longer talking about housing the homeless on duchy property. Comments of the Week: Minutes (20:00) to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Chaine on the post about William's favorite emoji. My comment of the week is from Miranda on the post where Aaron Rodgers said he wanted to debate Travis Kelce. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 I've been watching Encounters on Netflix! Chandra is watching a friend's cat and it's being naughty. Royals: Minutes (6:00) to 19:45 The British press is making excuses for why Kate can't go to Singapore for the Earthshot Awards. They're saying that she's a reluctant traveler, that she is focused on her kids and has to stay back because that's the week George has some kind of qualifying test for school. Kate made sure to mention this at an event. We think this is just an excuse. Robert Jobson reported in the Daily Express that Kate will increasingly “step out solo” and that William is “spreading his wings.” The press still writes about them like they've just graduated college. Will and Kate did a couple of events together recently. They met with Apple CEO Tim Cook at Kensington Palace where they likely got free iPhones. They also went to Cardiff to do multiple events for Black History Month where they looked especially awkward. We got stories afterward about how hunky William is. Kate visited a community center without bringing anything. I play a segment from Zoom where we talk about Kate's style. Zakia mentions that Kate may have lost some sensation in her face due to injections and be exaggerating her expressions for that reason. This makes sense because celebrity women have said that they weren't able to smile after bad Botox. Ashley says how disrespectful it is that Kate repeated an outfit within a couple of days for an event with Black people. Sophie Turner and Taylor Swift Minutes (19:45) to 28:30 Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are divorcing. We talked about that in episode 157. Joe tried to push the narrative that Sophie is partying, which was a crap PR move but more than that he didn't need that because the children have US residency. A lot of people don't understand international child custody rules, which is that the children stay where they are "habitual residents." The latest news is that they're going to mediation to determine custody. I play a segment from Zoom where we talk about that. We think Sophie is getting bad advice after some of her recent public moves. Taylor Swift is dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. She's been attending to his football games and Swifties and the NFL are going crazy. She went to a game with his mom in Kansas City on September 24 and on Sunday October 1 she went to a game in New Jersey with Sophie, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Comments of the Week: Minutes (28:30) to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Kreama on the post about Prince William being a royal hunk. My comments of the week are from Steph and Susan Collins on the post about Commander Biden being sent away. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 5:00 I saw a bear in my neighborhood while walking my dog. Chandra saw an otter in person. She wonders why humans haven't domesticated chipmunks yet. Royals: Minutes 5:00 to 19:30 Since we recorded last week, the Invictus Games wrapped up in Dusseldorf. The next Invictus Games will be February, 2025 in Vancouver. We got to see Harry and Meghan looking loved up and happy and interacting with spectators and competitors. It's obvious how popular and respected they are around the world. The Invictus Games always make the royals look bad because Harry's work is impactful and important. We talk about the NATO delegation to the Invictus Games. William went to New York for two days to announce the Earthshot finalists as the UN General Assembly met. He was not invited to the UN, which Harry was invited to and addressed last year, but he did do a photo op with UN Secretary General Guterres. He also went to FDNY Ten House, across the street from ground zero, which Harry originally visited in 2009. Mayor Eric Adams was supposed to meet William there but he canceled a half hour before it was scheduled. When Meghan and Harry were in NY in 2021 they did a photo call at One World Trade center with NY Governor Hochul and then Mayor De Blasio. Both Harry and Meghan have spoken at the UN as well. At the end of his trip there were two pieces in the Daily Mail claiming that Americans find William sexy and amazing and it read like such propaganda. The purpose of the trip seemed to be to convince British people that Americans love William, but it didn't work. Chandra wonders if this is a rollout for William being single. Kate stayed back in England and did a bunch of stunt queening events. It really looks like she's trying to upstage William. On Monday she visited a naval base and then on Tuesday she wore a beige suit to visit a youth charity in London. We wonder what's going on with her hair. The Earthshot Awards are scheduled for Singapore on November 7th. We heard this week that Kate is not expected to go. She had been scheduled to go for months. We got stories about how Kate took a helicopter to the naval base and how environmentally unfriendly that is. Charles and Camilla arrived in France on Wednesday. It was rescheduled from March due to the protests in France and the threats against Charles. They went to a state dinner with the Macrons and Camilla wore a navy Dior gown and sapphire jewelry. Charles addressed the French Senate, in French, about the urgency of addressing climate change. I think Camilla got a thread lift but Chandra thinks it's just photoshop. Comment of the Week: Minutes 19:30 to end Chandra's comments of the week are from Waitwhat on the post about the royal press being incurious about the royals and Pinkosaurus on the post about Kate taking a helicopter to the naval base. My comment of the week is from BlueNailsBetty on the post about Drew Barrymore defending herself on video for bringing her show back during the strikes. She's since reversed that decision. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 I've been watching Los Espookys on HBO Max and I love it. Chandra says this season of What We Do in the Shadows was really good. She also watched the US Open and loves Coco Gauff and Daniil Medvedev. Royals: Minutes 6:00 to 22:45 The Invictus Games are happening in Dusseldorf. Last week we mentioned that Prince Harry stopped briefly in the UK to attend the Wellchild Awards. He also visited his grandmother's crypt at St. George's Chapel in Windsor to quietly pay his respects on the anniversary of her death. He tried to stay under the radar but of course the royal rota threw a fit and said he was trying to upstage William. Meanwhile William and Kate were over an hour late to their event honoring the Queen on the anniversary of her death. Harry got a standing ovation in Dusseldorf and was greeted by the mayor. He's getting glowing coverage in the German press, especially now that Meghan is there. The Windsors are doing a ton of events as counterprogramming. Will and Kate were on Mike Tindall's rugby podcast, and the reporting afterwards was that they “torpedoed Harry's launch of the Invictus Games with the release of a podcast featuring them and Princess Anne.” They always do things with Harry and Meghan in mind. Kate's entire look at the Rugby World Cup was a copy of Meghan's at the Invictus Games opening a year prior. Kate visited a prison and wore a fluffy new wig that the press praised the next day. We also heard she had a meeting. William did an event for suicide prevention and mental health issues affecting construction workers. Meanwhile the royals have not acknowledged Team Briton or the Invictus Games, although they're trying to partially take credit for it by stating that Harry started it through the Royal Foundation. Meghan joined Harry at the Invictus games on Tuesday and attended her first event on Tuesday night. She was in a black Banana Republic shirtdress. On Wednesday Meghan wore a cardigan from J.Crew and dress shorts. She's also worn black jeans with a black sleeveless top and white jeans with a white sweater vest. She is doing her own hair and makeup. Thursday, Meghan and Harry did an event with Nato personnel. Meghan wore a silky brown blouse and dress pants. Chandra's favorite outfit she's worn is her travel outfit. The Nigerian team has given Meghan a traditional Nigerian name. She's been embraced by Invictus competitors and attendees. There are photos of Meghan holding Taira's hand, the Ukrainian Invictus competitor who was held in a Russian prison camp. The British royals haven't acknowledged the British Invictus team with a tweet or message or reception and even the British press is noticing. The British defense minister is there and has been in meetings though. We remember the story about how the British government pressured the Bidens not to support the Sussexes. The Windsors are so obvious with the stunts they're pulling. Comments of the Week: Minutes 22:45 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from GirlNinja on the post about Kate's wig. My comment of the week is from Indica on the post about how the FDA found phenylephrine is ineffective. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 7:45 We both loved Heart of Invictus except for one veteran. There are spoilers for the series up until minute 7:45. Royals: Minutes 7:45 to 17:30 The Invictus Games are coming up in Dusseldorf with competitions starting this Sunday September 10th. We record on Thursday afternoons. At that point Harry was in the UK to attend the WellChild Awards, although he did it in stealth mode and we didn't know when he arrived. We've heard that Meghan isn't coming to the Invictus Games until later in the competition. Now that Harry is in the UK, William did his first event after two whole months off. The Waleses are also scheduled to attend the Rugby World Cup this weekend. Last week Harry and Meghan went to see Beyonce, Meghan went twice, once with Harry and her mom and Abigail Spencer, and another time with other A-listers for Beyonce's birthday concert. Harry went to the Inter-Miami soccer game in LA. It's clear they're doing fine. As those stories were breaking there were multiple stories about how bitter Kate still is about Meghan, Kate will never forgive Meghan for some vague reason that keeps changing, and how Meghan doesn't want to come to the UK because she doesn't want to curtsey to Kate! It turns out Meghan doesn't technically have to curtsey to Kate anyway. The Suits creator has revealed that when Meghan was in her last year on the show, when she was dating Harry and before they were engaged, the palace was reading the scripts and controlling her lines. Celebrity Divorces: 17:30 to 24:45 There are two big celebrity divorces happening, Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner and Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner. Costner has been ordered to pay 63,000 a month to Christine, which is much less than the $168K she was asking for. He's trying to smear her in court and online and it's clear to us from the new commenters that he's hired a PR firm and is using bots for that. Joe Jonas filed for divorce from Sophie Turner. They've been married four years and have two children, Willa, three, and a second daughter whose name we don't know who is 14 months old. He's 34 and she's 27 and they've been together since she was 19. Joe is trying to push the narrative that Sophie is partying but he basically couldn't hack being a full time dad when she went back to work in England. There's an interview Sophie did with Conan during lockdown where she said she's a homebody and Joe is the social butterfly. The latest news is that Joe supposedly saw ring cam footage where Sophie was quote “saying and/or doing something that made him realize the marriage was over.” He was spying on her and that's super creepy. The whole Internet is on Sophie's side. Comments of the Week: 24:45 to end Chandra's COTW is from Brassy Rebel on the post about how the Windsors are unpopular. My COTW is from wordnerd on the post about Meghan Trainor telling her brother to get Botox. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 We'll be off for two weeks and we plan to have another episode out on September 9th. I have been watching Cold Case Files on Netflix. Chandra doesn't like true crime stuff but likes the ones about fed up women. She watched the new Unsolved Mysteries and the UFO story disturbed her. I watched a UFO documentary called Moment of Contact that really convinced me. Chandra has been watching the Cincinnati Open and her favorite player, Daniil Medvedev, is out. Novak Djokovic is back in the US despite still being unvaccinated. Royals: Minutes 6:00 to 22:30 Last weekend Meghan was photographed wearing a sticker on her inner wrist from a company called NuCalm. If it helps people and isn't super expensive it seems harmless. I emailed NuCalm support to ask if the disc vibrated and they said “There are no vibrations or anything that you will feel while wearing the disc. You will notice the disc will help you feel more mellow, relaxed, or calm, but there are no physical sensations that come from the disc.” The NuCalm CEO said Meghan isn't being paid for this. We wish she would get paid as the company is marketing themselves off her wearing it. We also got to see a photo of Meghan out with her girlfriends. She looks so young and radiant and it's nice to see her happy! Last week we talked about Meghan being seen out at a Taylor Swift concert in LA. I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but Kate went to a concert too you guys! Chandra thinks the purpose of the story was to associate Kate with Rose Hanbury. The music festival was on the Houghton estate, where Rose and her husband, David Rocksavage, live. We heard all about it along with the fact that Kate drank spicy margaritas and that their party left a 700 pound tip. Maybe the point of those stories was that William and Rose are no longer hooking up. The Women's World Cup final is taking place this weekend in Australia between England and Spain. Prince William, the president of the English Football Association, isn't going to attend. We don't know where he is as he hasn't made an appearance since early July. We wonder how this will affect Australia's position within the Commonwealth. We got the first trailer for Prince Harry's Heart of Invictus series. It's a five part docuseries with one hour episodes and premieres on August 30th. It looks so heartwarming and I got teared up! Last week we talked about the Royal.gov.uk site removing Prince Harry's HRH titles from articles about him. There was an article in the Daily Mail stating that of course Harry and Meghan's titles haven't been removed and that the Letters Patent hasn't been annulled to do this. We've talked a lot about how the British press hypes the next big royal event and talks out of both sides of their mouths about whether the Sussexes should come. Charles doesn't invite Harry directly but tells the press he'd like him to come. They're now using that same strategy for Charles's 75th birthday coming up in November. Britney Spears: Minutes 22:30 to 25:30 Note that we recorded this before the story came out about Britney allegedly abusing Sam. Britney Spears and Sam Asghari are breaking up after just over a year of marriage and almost seven years together. Britney cheated and now Sam is allegedly threatening Britney. Comments of the Week: Minutes 25:30 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Pinkosaurus on the post about Kate being the power behind the throne. My comment of the week is from K on the post about Leonard Bernstein's family defending Bradley Cooper's prosthetic nose in the biopic about him. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 3:45 I saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and loved it! Chandra is watching What We Do in the Shadows and says it's great this season. I am jealous of Canadians. Royals: Minutes 3:45 to 11:00 Prince Harry is in Japan this week to attend the International Sports Promotion Society Summit in Tokyo. He talked about sports being transformative and healing, which he sees through his work in the Invictus Games. Harry and Nacho Figueras posted a cute photo from Japan with the caption that they were shopping for their wives. They're headed to Singapore to play polo. This is to support Harry's charity Sentebale. To pull focus from Harry doing something when they're all on vacation, the Windsors decided to remove his HRH style from articles about him. Reports say they're just updating the website after the Queen's death, but taking His Royal Highness away from Harry was given priority over other necessary updates. Chandra thinks the press was briefed about this to pull focus from Harry's trip. It's so petty and obvious. While Harry is away Meghan was seen at one of Taylor Swift's six LA concerts. She also reportedly went to see Barbie with friends. William and Kate are going to honor the Queen at an appearance for her death anniversary. At first sources said Harry and Meghan have an open invitation to Balmoral, then we heard that they weren't invited to the memorial. Next there was a story about how there was no memorial planned, and the latest is that Kate and William will lead the tribute to the Queen. Natalie Portman: Minutes 11:00 to 16:00 In June we heard that Benjamin Millepied had been cheating on Natalie with a 25-year-old woman. We just got the announcement that they have separated after 11 years. In June Natalie was wearing her wedding ring. Us Weekly had some insider quotes that they were working on their marriage, but that they ultimately couldn't work it out. A lot of people are pointing out that when Benjamin got into a relationship with Natalie he had a live-in girlfriend. Comments of the week: Minutes 16:00 to end My comment of the week is from ThatsNotOkay on the post where Jennifer Aniston called Jamie Foxx anti-Semitic. Chandra's comment of the week is from Olliesmom on the post about Clarence Thomas receiving millions worth of travel from Republican donors. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 13:00 We took two months off, thanks for understanding! While we were off DListed shut down and I took that hard. We respect Michael K so much and we miss Dlisted. We have three new writers, Carina, Kismet and Rosie. We both saw Barbie and loved it. Neither of us have seen Oppenheimer. I liked The Blackening and Chandra saw the movie Showing Up with Michelle Williams and can't stop thinking about it. Celebrity divorces: Minutes 13:00 to 23:30 We talk about the recent celebrity divorces including Kevin Costner, Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello, and Ariana Grande. Royals: Minutes 23:30 to 32:00 Omid Scobie's Endgame is coming out in November and we're looking forward to that! He is one of the only royal reporters who fairly reports on Harry and Meghan. The British press is going after him and we hope he's living his best life. Suits, Meghan's USA series that aired from 2011 to 2019, is one of the top shows on Netflix. People are like “wow Meghan can act, she's incredible” and the British press are trying to spin it like Americans hate her, which is ridiculous. We just got a new video of Harry and Meghan in their courtyard congratulating the winners of the Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund over the phone. It's really cute and they both look so rich and unbothered. I'm sure we'll get articles about how they're trying to pull focus from Prince William serving veggie burgers. Chandra thinks Kensington Palace is trying to bury the veggie burger video because it was all staged. The Sussexes are covering both People Magazine and US Magazine this week. They're said to be having business problems, which surprises me because they have so many successes. The Spotify debacle highlighted their need for a communications team. They've been speaking through sources instead of issuing official responses to Spotify's trash-talking. We hope they get an excellent communications team. Comments of the Week: Minutes 32:00 to end My comment of the week is from Peanut Butter on the post where Stephen Amell tried to dial back his anti-union comments at a fan convention. Chandra's comment of the week is from Kitten on the post about Trump being indicted. Thanks for listening bitches!
Intro: Minutes 0 to 7:45 We have two new writers, Carina and Kismet, and two new comment moderators. Everyone is so great! I watched Somebody Somewhere on HBO and loved it. I also saw the Duggar documentary on Amazon, Shiny Happy People. It was well done but hard to take. Chandra loved Succession but found Ted Lasso lacking. She also liked Cocaine Bear but hated Scream 6. Royals: Minutes 7:45 to 23:15 This week Prince Harry testified in his case against The Mirror Group newspapers. He was composed under cross examination, he made a compelling case and he made so many headlines. His witness statement was heartbreaking. A lot of these details were left out of Spare, probably because of his ongoing lawsuits. He called out Piers Morgan for publishing hurtful stories about his mother in the months leading up to her death and for harassing him and Meghan recently. This lawsuit covers up to 2011 so that's why Meghan isn't included, which is confusing to the British media. This case is about 33 articles published about Harry. His side only has to prove that hacking was involved in one of them. While Harry was testifying the firm sent out Princess Kate to try to pull focus. She went to the Windsor Family Hub on Tuesday and apparently the women at the center were only given a half hour notice that she was coming with photographers. Then on Wednesday she did a rugby event. In an obvious move to avoid Harry, Charles announced to the press ahead of time that he would be at his place in Transylvania this week. He came back to London after five days though. William and Kate went to Crown Prince Hussein's royal wedding in Jordan last week and looked just as pissed off at each other as they always do. I play a clip where we talked about that on Zoom. The Middletons are getting exposed for their shady business dealings. They owe millions to creditors and had to sell Party Pieces in a fire sale. We mention how Kate pulled focus from Charles and Camilla at the Chelsea Flower Show. Taylor Swift: Minutes 23:15 to 28:15 Taylor Swift and Matt Healy broke up this week just about a month after we first heard about them. It's very likely he was the reason for her breakup with Joe Alwyn. He's the frontman for the band The 1975 and he's said and done some racist and anti-Semitic things recently that there's no way Taylor didn't know about. Taylor did a collaboration with Ice Spice, whom Healy was racist about, which makes it seem like Taylor and Matt were together longer than they claimed. There were a bunch of stories about how close they were until their breakup, when outlets made it sound like it was a fling. It's been amazing to watch Taylor's fans hold her accountable. Comments of the Week: Minutes 28:15 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Aud on the post about the Middletons stiffing their creditors. Chandra wonders why neither Prince William nor James Mathews, Pippa's husband, has helped the Middletons out. My comment of the week is from Slush on the post about Martha Stewart telling people to go into the office while she works from home. Chandra remembers Martha's interview where she said her workers needed to be available to take calls at any time. I read that interview and she fired a guy for not talking to her on a Sunday – when he was taking a bath! Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:15 Hecate is leaving and we're sad about that. I watched The Sandman but it was more of a hate watch. Chandra loves Succession but watching it stresses her out. She's also watching tennis and is sad that Rafa Nadal is retiring. Royals: The Car Chase: Minutes 4:15 to 15:45 This week Meghan and Harry went to the Ms. Magazine's Women of Vision Awards, where Meghan was honored. She wore a phenomenal strapless gold textured Johanna Ortiz gown and she looked rich and unbothered. Harry and Meghan looked loved up and gorgeous. They also visited a youth center in Santa Barbara earlier this week for Mental Health Awareness Month. All of that is lead up to this disturbing story that Harry and Meghan were chased by multiple blacked out SUVs and motorcycles allegedly containing paparazzi when they left the Ms. event. They were pursued for over two hours, from about 10pm to midnight. A paparazzo said that the Sussex's vehicle was the one doing evasive maneuvers, but it's clear the paparazzi were driving dangerously and putting pedestrians at risk. Here's a link to the tweet I mentioned from the President of the NY Press Photographers Association. We wonder why the paparazzi were hounding Harry and Meghan, since there were already photos of them that night and there's no market for photos of them in a car afterwards. The Page Six report said that there were 12 paparazzi at first. A witness at the scene as they left the venue said it was scary. It's upsetting how the press is trying to fact check and minimize what Harry and Meghan went through. A taxi driver who picked up Harry and Meghan at a police station and drove them around the block is being quoted as saying it wasn't that bad, essentially. He was only with them for ten minutes. NYC Mayor Adams similarly tried to downplay it. The Sussexes' spokesperson has said she's never seen them that vulnerable and a member of their security team, a former secret service agent, has said he'd never seen anything like this and that it could have been fatal. Some commenters have suggested that the Sussexes waited to release a statement on the incident so that they could see who would publish the photos. They were briefly published online in The Express and the Mail. No one from the royal family has reached out to the Sussexes or contacted them to see if they're OK. The royal family has also refused to comment on this! The Coronation: Minutes 15:45 to 24:30 The coronation was grim and weird. We were floored by some of the weird artifacts, like the bracelets of sincerity. We wonder why Charles was so miserable when this was supposed to be his big day. Camilla was smug and was smirking and William didn't memorize his lines. Will and Kate looked tired and mad like they fought on the way over. Someone told Omid Scobie that it was their children's fault they were late! That was their excuse to the press. After that they released a shaky behind-the-scenes fan cam video that was just terrible and hard to watch. Kate wasn't given a tiara to wear and so she wore a headpiece made by McQueen. She also wore Diana's famous diamond-and-pearl earrings, but she wore them backwards. The whole coronation was excessive and Charles didn't even look happy. Plus there wasn't much interest and no one was talking about it in a few days. We also heard that Camilla was going to work less as Queen. We think Diana would be living her best life if she was still with us. Comments of the Week: Minutes 24:30 to end My comment of the week is from Lucy2 on Peridot's post about Halle Bailey being so gracious about The Little Mermaid. Chandra's comment of the week is from Becks1 on the post about Kate looking overjoyed in an appearance the day after Harry and Meghan were hounded by paparazzi. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 I've been watching Yellowjackets and I like it but I'm mad at the characters. Chandra and I are both watching Ted Lasso. Here's a link to the Jezebel article she mentioned about it. Chandra loves Succession. Royals: Minutes 6:00 to 25:30 While we were off we heard that Harry will attend the coronation alone and that he will only go to his father's hat ceremony. There was so much lead-up about whether Meghan would come. The Sussexes' children aren't even invited. Chandra thinks Charles got what he wanted. Of course they're saying Meghan is snubbing Charles, but they are relieved that she's not coming. We also heard a lot about how mad Prince William is at Harry as usual and that he's not going to talk to him or even look at him at the coronation! Prince Harry is suing the Rupert Murdoch-owned newspapers, News Group Newspapers, for hacking and hiring private investigators to get dirt on his girlfriends. In a recent filing for that lawsuit, Harry revealed that William accepted a private settlement from NGN in 2020. Harry also revealed that there was some sort of backdoor deal between the senior royals and NGN in 2012. Harry kept all of this out of Spare and we wonder how he found out about it. We think he may have omitted it from Spare for legal reasons. This week we also heard that Meghan and then Prince Charles exchanged letters after the Oprah interview. Charles wrote to her first saying he was upset that she talked about an unnamed senior royal speculating about the color of their baby's skin. They had a warm exchange about it but nothing was resolved. Meghan never revealed this in her Netflix series or in interviews. She was blamed for leaking this story about the letters, which she denied. Chandra wonders who told the royal reporters that Meghan is the one who leaked this. She thinks it was William. We wonder who the royal racist was and think it was probably both William and Camilla. There was a line in the original article from the Telegraph that was deleted from subsequent versions which read that “she does still consider the comment to be racist.” Harry has talked about unconscious bias several times. Meghan appeared for the first time in weeks in a recorded introduction for her friend photographer Misan Harriman's Ted Talk. We also got to see Harry and Meghan in a private box at the Laker's game earlier this week. Meghan looks so happy and healthy. The Sussexes looked very connected as always and yet GB News ran a story afterwards that they were leading separate lives. The woman who wrote that is married to Piers Morgan. We wonder why Piers Morgan was seen out with Beatrice and Eugenie. To sign up for our mailing list, please visit the post for this podcast. Comments of the Week: Minutes 25:30 to end My comment of the week is from Becks1 on the post about Meghan Trainor saying F teachers on her podcast. Chandra's comment of the week is from Tiffany on the post about Glen Powell and his girlfriend Gigi Paris breaking up after Glen got cozy with Sydney Sweeney on the set of their new romcom. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:30 We'll be off for three weeks and back on April 29th. I got my first pair of Crocs and have been watching Fire Country. Chandra is watching Ted Lasso. Royals: Minutes 4:30 to 22:30 This week Prince Harry made a surprise appearance in London in his case against Associated Newspapers. He and other plaintiffs like Elton John and Sadie Frost are suing them for surveillance and harassment. Harry issued written testimony on Tuesday and it was damning to his family. Prince Harry's presence at the hearing has brought so much attention to it. After that came out, a royal source told The Daily Beast that Harry's statement has “torpedoed any remaining bridges” with his family. It's curious that the Windsors are acting like Harry is attacking them when the case is against the Daily Mail. The Telegraph reported that Charles was too busy to see him. Charles was at Highgrove after his trip to France was canceled so he wasn't too busy. Will and Kate are conveniently out of town too because their kids are on break. Camilla Tominey accused Harry of upstaging Charles' big trip. The Sussexes upstage the Windsors partly because the British press has built them up so much with negative reporting. We still don't know whether Harry and Meghan will come to the Coronation. There was a story that if Harry does come to the coronation, he won't have to bow to Camilla! There was an offensive article in The Times about how world leaders love Charles and want to meet him. Biden isn't going to the coronation and he's not planning on visiting Charles during a visit to Northern Ireland in April. Charles has a history of taking bribes from despots. Meanwhile Charles is evicting and firing people. He's trying to cut staff and end subsidized housing and London apartments for royals. He might evict the Queen's royal dresser, Angela Kelly, from her grace and favor cottage, which is what she deserves. He did appoint Rose Hanbury's husband, David Rocksavage, as his lord-in-waiting though! Kate's private secretary we heard so much about, Alison Corfield, declined the job. She's been working for Jamie Oliver for eight years and chose to stay at that position rather than work for Kate. Kate has been without a full time private secretary since last summer. This should have been a huge story but there's been no follow up since the announcement. Trump got indicted: Minutes 22:30 to 29:30 In this section recorded Friday we talk about Trump being indicted on over 30 counts of business fraud, Gwyneth Paltrow winning her court case and Samantha Markle's defamation case being thrown out. Comments of the Week: Minutes 29:30 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from girl_ninja on the story about Prince Harry “torpedoing bridges” with his family. My comment of the week is from Frippery on the post about Gwyneth Paltrow at court. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:45 We plan to have episodes for the next two weeks and then we'll be off April 15th and 22nd. We are both watching the new season of Ted Lasso. We debate binge watching vs. watching once a week. I watched The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent on Starz and thought Pedro Pascal was a standout. Royals: Minutes 6:45 to 22:00 One of the biggest stories over the past two weeks was the manufactured one in which the British press tries to manipulate the Sussexes to come to the coronation. Unlike the Jubilee, to which the Queen invited the Sussexes directly, Charles isn't talking to them and wants someone else to convince them to come. Other reports say that there are negotiations happening behind the scenes, and that they're preparing two schedules for the coronation, one that includes the Sussexes and one that doesn't. They've since been told that they can stay in Frogmore if they come to the coronation. There are also reports that if they do come they will be strictly controlled like they were at the jubilee. While we were off we got an announcement that Princess Lilibet was christened in Montecito. The Sussexes used Lili's Princess title in their announcement about it to the media. The order of succession website with Archie and Lili's titles was finally updated a day later. We got a bizarre story that when Charles evicted the Sussexes from Frogmore he told them that the website would be updated with their children's titles. Charles had been trying to convince the press that he had the power to make a decision on the children's titles. After the christening story came out, the palace changed their tune. We've also heard that Camilla's grandchildren will have prominent roles in the coronation but that Archie and Lili haven't even been formally invited yet. Royalists don't think Camilla's grandchildren should be in the coronation. Meanwhile William and Kate's children are expected to be in the procession but it's unknown if they will have a big role. Prince Edward, Charles' youngest sibling, also finally got his Duke of Edinburgh title that was promised to him by the Queen and Prince Philip. The titles were supposed to be passed to him and his wife, Sophie, when the Queen passed but Charles kept holding it over his head. Charles conferred that to him on March 10th, which was Edward's 59th birthday. This week Princess Kate met with her new “Business Taskforce for Early Childhood.” I was floored by how bad her speech was. It had a bunch of big words and made zero sense. The taskforce was the whole announcement. They have no agenda and no goals. We wonder when Kate will do something substantive like fundraising or advocacy work. Trump's possible arrest: Minutes 22:00 to 25 Back in October, 2020 we recorded an add on to podcast #68 when we heard that Trump had covid. We had that same kind of hope when we heard he might get arrested. It hasn't happened yet unfortunately. Our moms are really happy about this possibility. Comments of the Week: Minutes 25:00 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from girl_ninja on the post about Charles and Camilla visiting France during their nationwide strike. Since we recorded, their trip has been canceled. My comment of the week is from Manda on the post about the TikTok from Romy Mars, Sofia Coppola and Thomas Mars' 16-year-old daughter. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 11:30 We will be off the next two weeks. I saw a bunch of the Oscar nominated movies. My favorite was All Quiet on the Western Front, but it's not for everyone. We both loved The Fabelmans and thought it was a positive movie for the most part. I also saw Cocaine Bear and loved it. We don't think Judd Hirsch warranted an Oscar nomination for his performance as it was excellent but very short, but Michelle Williams definitely did. I couldn't get into EEAAO but we're happy for the nominated actors and think they should win. Royals: Minutes 11:30 to 23:00 The main news this week is the fact that Charles is kicking Harry and Meghan out of Frogmore Cottage. Chandra didn't think Charles would make such an obvious and vindictive move. He did it just one day after Spare came out. Prince Andrew is being asked to leave Royal Lodge, which William wants for his family, and being offered Frogmore Cottage. There are plenty of other royal properties where these people could move. Andrew doesn't want to leave his estate. The Sun reported that the eviction issue has been going on for the past seven weeks, which means that all of the stories about whether Harry would come to the Chubbly came out after he was told to vacate Frogmore. Omid Scobie confirmed this in his reporting and the Sussexes' spokesperson has confirmed it as well. The Telegraph reported that the Sussexes are in “ongoing negotiations” about whether they will be reimbursed for the cost of renovations. It looks like Charles wants to change the conversation after he got so much bad press for meeting with the EU President. Sources have claimed that this is a financial decision on Charles' part and that he's trying to “reduce the size of the royal estate.” This argument doesn't make sense, as the Crown Estate will have to spend money to reimburse the Sussexes and Prince Andrew for leaving their homes. It looks like Charles is using William's demand to move into Royal Lodge as an excuse to kick out Harry and Meghan. There was a story by Rebecca English in the Daily Mail that the Waleses are living “cheek-by-jowl” with just four bedrooms at Adelaide cottage and a source said “The kids go to playdates at houses far bigger and grander than theirs.” They have three other properties currently. Before that news broke, we got a lot of stories about Camilla and how special and important she is. She's going to go by Queen Camilla, she's going to have equal billing in the Chubbly and her grandchildren are going to be given official roles in the ceremony. She's even trying to push her 47-year-old son, Tom Parker Bowles, as a replacement for Prince Harry. Comments of the Week: Minutes 23:00 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from anna on the post about how no artists want to play at the coronation. My comment of the week is from Beach Dreams on that same story. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:00 We were off last week as I was sick. I'm watching 911: Lone Star and The Last of Us. Chandra saw Aftersun, which seemed like a student film. She loved The Fabelmans and Wakanda Forever. Royals: Minutes 4:00 to 22:00 Kate tried to counter one of Meghan's really mild points about her in the Netflix documentary and in Harry's book – that Kate didn't hug her. Instead of owning that she's not a hugger, Kate has been hugging people. In case we didn't get the message, there was an article with a quote from former Brexit leader Nigel Farage that Kate didn't hug Meghan because she “only hugs people she likes.” There was also a story that Kate hiring a new private secretary was “revenge on Meghan.” Meghan has never said that Kate's staff is incompetent but these stories are giving that message. Kate wore a classic Meghan look when she went to a senior center on Fat Tuesday to make pancakes. A photo of Kate flipping a lumpy pancake went viral, but it likely wasn't her fault and may have been due to the burner or batter. Last week South Park ran an episode featuring the Sussexes. The British press was like “Americans hate Harry and Meghan!” but many of us were surprised it's still running. After the Sussex episode was met with glee, people pointed out that South Park skewered Will and Kate too after their wedding. The British press kept running stories about how upset Meghan was at South Park and how the Sussexes wanted to sue them. Their spokesperson finally shut it down with a simple statement. The British press is doing the most to bait Harry into coming to the coronation on May 6th. We've heard that Charles just won't have the time to meet with Harry, that Harry is still deciding whether to come and The Daily Mail is saying that it won't matter whether Harry and Meghan come or not because they can't win either way. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about whether Harry will go to the Chubbly. Chandra thinks the Sussexes are still deciding whether to go and if Harry goes he'll bring Meghan and the children. She mentions a story from last week where Harry wouldn't come to the Chubbly if he thought it would be as toxic as his grandmother's funeral. Comments of the Week: Minutes 22:00 to end My comment of the week is from Fuzzy Crocodile on Peridot's post about Lil Nas X adopting kittens. Chandra's comment of the week is from StLuGal on the post where Evangeline Lilly revealed what an a-hole she is. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 We'll be off next week and will probably be back February 18th. I've been watching The Bear. Chandra and I both watched The Menu and I liked it more than she did. Chandra saw Everything Everywhere All at Once on Showtime and she liked the acting but not the premise. Royals: Minutes 6:00 to 22:30 It looks like there's a leaking war between Charles and William. It started with a story that Charles was going to ask the Archbishop of Canterbury to talk to Harry on his behalf. Then we heard that William doesn't trust the Archbishop and thinks he's too close to the Sussexes. After that the Daily Mail ran an op-ed saying that Charles needs to exclude Harry from the Coronation. At no time did they state that Charles has called Harry directly despite Harry saying that's what he wants. There was a report in Vanity Fair that Charles hasn't officially given Lilibet and Archie their Prince and Princess titles yet and that “The feeling is that the titles need to be earned.” We've been hearing this for months and Charles needs to make up his mind. It sounds like they're telling on themselves again because Harry has more dirt on them. Chandra's tweet about this went viral. We mentioned in our last episode that the Waleses brought a camera crew to a foodbank with them last week. They were criticized for that and for showing up empty handed. People were still talking about that throughout the weekend. Kate hyped her new Early Years campaign for weeks and we thought this might be different, but we were wrong. It's called “Shaping Us” and they launched it with a weird monochromatic claymation video. Kate also released a little video about her project that was incredibly basic. We wonder how this is Kate's life's work, that the early years are important. She had the five question survey in 2020 and Big Change Starts Small in 2021. This seems to be about shaming low income and single parent families and does not include raising funds or bringing awareness to existing programs for children, which are struggling for resources and shutting down. Omid Scobie had a thoughtful column about this and he pointed out that Kate has been saying she's learning about this for over 10 years. Scobie argued that Kate is limited by her role and can't get involved with politics, but we think she could come up with so many ways to actually help. Kate went to an indoor vendor's market in Leeds to premiere her Shaping Us billboard and ask the vendors what their childhoods were like without actually buying anything. Comments of the Week: Minutes 22:30 to end My comments of the week are from SarahFrancisco and Sarah on Hecate's post about the 45-year-old entrepreneur who has hired a team of doctors and spent $2 million on anti-aging treatments. Chandra's comment of the week is from JT on the post with Kate's basic video. They pointed out how similar the type face and branding is between Shaping Us and Archetypes. Sign up for our mailing list in the post for this podcast and get the top 10 stories about Kate copying Meghan's fashion! Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 5:00 We will have an episode out next week and will be off on February 11. I've been watching The Last of Us. Chandra is watching the Australian Open. Royals: Minutes 5:00 to 19:30 Reactions to Spare are focused on Meghan and wondering where she is instead of addressing Harry's explosive claims, particularly about the press. We would love to read Meghan's memoir and hear her take on some of these stories. The royals are sending other people to do their dirty work. A woman named Marjorie Wallace, who founded a mental health charity and worked as an investigative journalist, claimed Meghan is “playing the victim card” by discussing her suicide ideation on the Harry and Meghan docuseries. Wallace is friends with Charles and Camilla. A mixed race Opera singer named Danielle de Niese claimed Meghan was calling the entire country of Britain racist, which de Niese said “hasn't been my experience.” Danielle de Niese is married to a white aristocrat and they live on a huge estate that's been in his family for generations. That column was by Richard Eden and Chandra wonders if he was putting words in de Neise's mouth. The Guardian sent a journalist to Montecito, where it sounded like Harry and Meghan have a quiet life of doing normal things like shopping and going to shows. A local bookstore had sold 30 copies of Spare, and this was somehow news despite the evacuation in Montecito. It was hard for me to listen to Harry talk about how much he drank and did drugs. The media keeps asking where Meghan is but they berated her and nitpicked everything she said when Archetypes was airing. Princess Kate has assembled a team of advisors to her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. She's going to meet with them a whole two times a year. They released a one and a half minute video from that and I could barely hear what she was saying. Chandra thinks she has improved since the time she introduced Jill Biden. Kate and William also graced a Windsor food bank with their presence since they couldn't be bothered to announce a donation or bring anything with them. William brought the Earthshot finalists to Windsor after failing to invite them to the awards ceremony in Boston. Virginia Giuffre's one year gag order in her settlement from Prince Andrew is about to run out. She's the woman raped by Andrew when she was trafficked to him at 17 by Jeffrey Epstein. She has reportedly signed a memoir deal worth millions. There are stories that Andrew inherited millions from his mother's estate and has a “war chest” he's going to use to fight Giuffre in court. Andrew reportedly wants to use his HRH title privately in business dealings. Oscar nominations: Minutes 19:30 to 24:00 We got the Oscar nominations and there are some surprises. Both Viola Davis and Danielle Deadwyler got snubbed in the Best Actress category while Ana de Armas got nominated for Blonde and Andrea Riseborough got a nomination for To Leslie. It's another case of Oscars so white. There are also no women nominated in the Best Director category. We hope Brendan Fraser wins Best Actor over Austin Butler. Chandra loves Tar but I don't have a movie I want to win Best Picture yet. Comments of the Week: Minutes 24:00 to end My comments of the week are the responses to Lolo86lf on the post about Sean Penn and Robin Wright reuniting. Chandra's comment of the week is from Nixie on the post about Gerard Pique going Instagram official with his new piece. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 8:00 We were off for a month, thanks for understanding! Last week was especially hard with the Golden Globes and Spare coming out. Over the break we both watched Glass Onion and The Pale Blue Eye. I watched The Recruit, The Last of Us and Tar. I liked The Recruit and The Last of Us. Chandra loved Tar. She didn't like The Banshees of Inisherin or Triangle of Sadness. She recommends Lady Chatterly's Lover, White Lotus season two and Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris. Chandra saw The Woman King and liked Viola Davis's performance but thought it was too long. I saw M3ghan and liked it but wanted it to be campier. Royals: Minutes 8:00 to 36:00 Prince Harry's memoir came out and it was hard to take, especially the first part where he learned his mother died and was then left alone and sent off to boarding school. Harry's love for his father comes through in the book. Spare is topping bestseller lists and setting records around the world. We're both surprised at how dishy the book is, although the leaks spoiled that a little for Chandra. I really like Chandra's analysis that the Netflix series was sunny and positive and was very much from Meghan's perspective while Harry's memoir is gritty, because that's how he is, he keeps track of the slights. We wonder how Meghan has remained so positive after everything she's gone through. Chandra thinks the UK press response to the Oprah interview helped Harry and Meghan decide what to do next. We know that Harry and Meghan have receipts. In Spare Harry told the full bridesmaid's dress/crygate story along with some other anecdotes like Kate getting pissy at Meghan for borrowing her lipgloss, Kate taking offense when Meghan said Kate had “baby brain” and Kate being super snotty to Meghan when she offered some natural cold remedies for William. Harry broke the story that Meghan was offered the Spencer tiara to wear and designed her wedding veil around that. The Queen then offered a tiara, but Angela Kelly tried to delay and block it at every turn. We knew that Kelly was the one leaking that story to paint Meghan as a diva. Like Kate, the stories about William in Spare show how petty he is. William would get jealous of Harry's charity work and little things like Harry being allowed to keep his beard when he got married. It's also clear that Camilla has been leaking stories to the press for a couple of decades. Harry told several stories about how she traded stories about him, his brother and Meghan for positive coverage. Chandra thinks Harry made a choice to blame it all on Camilla while this is common practice among the other royals too. Harry said more about this in the Netflix series. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about Camilla. The response by the royal family to Harry's biography has been to make ridiculous claims that sound straight out of the abuser's handbook. My favorite was when a royal source said Harry was kidnapped by “a cult of psychotherapy and Meghan.” That was in The Independent. Both Kate and William did events focused on mental health after Spare came out, which wasn't a coincidence. Harry did an interview with his friend Bryony Gordon in which she called him a generational cycle breaker. Harry said in that interview that half of his manuscript was cut to make the book. It's clear there's more dirt to dish. Like he never mentioned why William was so mad in April, 2019 when Camilla was trading stories about him to the press. The coronation is coming up in May, coincidentally on Archie's birthday. Harry wants accountability and an apology. The Sunday Times claims that Charles is willing to talk to Harry before the coronation but The Daily Beast says Charles won't talk to Harry. We've heard that Charles and William haven't texted or called Harry and that Anne and Edward don't want Harry at the coronation. We're also hearing that Charles wants Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to be the one to ban Harry from the coronation. Comments of the Week: Minutes 36:00 to 43 My comment of the week is from Snuffles on Peridot's story about buccal fat removal. Chandra's comment of the week is from susan on the post about Brad Pitt selling his mansion. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:30 We'll be off for at least two weeks and maybe we'll be back on January 7th but we're not sure. Harry's book Spare comes out January 10th. I've been watching Acapulco on Apple plus. Chandra is looking forward to Glass Onion and season three of Emily in Paris. Royals: Minutes 4:30 to 28:30 We just finished volume two of Harry and Meghan. Volume one was mostly about their love story. We got some sputtering responses from the British press along with the story about how much William hates Meghan for taking Harry away from him. The takeaway from the second half of the series was that the Sussexes were getting briefed against. The royal reporters were previously open about getting briefed from the palaces but are now denying it. We now know that Harry's line in the trailer about his brother being willing to lie to protect himself was about William signing Harry's name to a statement after the Sandringham Summit that William never bullied Harry. Harry and Meghan truly wanted to continue to work for the royal family. They would have worked as much as they were able, but they were a threat to other members. It was hard to hear that Meghan thought people would take her at her word in the Oprah interview when she disclosed that she was suicidal. That was ignored and the headlines instead focused on how Harry and Meghan accused the royal family of being racist. The British press will do the same thing in their reaction to this docuseries. Chandra was surprised that the racism in the press wasn't called out more. Harry and Meghan also didn't get into the stories about Meghan supposedly making Kate cry and about who the royal racist was. They barely addressed the story of Meghan allegedly bullying staff. We think the Sussexes went easy on the Windsors here. Chandra appreciated that Meghan's lawyer disclosed that Jason Knauf helped the Mail on Sunday in Meghan's lawsuit against them for publishing her father's letter. Meghan said “that's your brother” when William texted Harry, but the contents of that text weren't disclosed. We would have liked to have heard more dirt on Will and Kate. Tyler Perry really stepped up to help Harry and Meghan when Charles leaked their location in Canada, they were surrounded by paparazzi and Charles pulled their security. We were moved by how Perry described the royal family as batterers and how he recognized the abuse that Meghan was suffering. Harry said that he had six weeks before the press found out they were in Canada and that they had six weeks at Tyler Perry's house before the press found out as well. That doesn't seem to be the case because we found out from Dan Wootton at the Sun on March 27th that the Sussexes were in LA, just two days after we learned that Charles had covid. We think Charles's office leaked the news that the Sussexes were in LA. We're impressed with how well the docuseries lays out everything with the Sussexes. The first half was familiar to us, but there was a lot of new information from the exit on. We remember how we heard that the Sussexes's security was being pulled and how there was hand-wringing over whether Canada or the US would have to pay for it. There were a lot of tangents the docuseries could have taken. They didn't even touch William's affair. We wonder if Meghan is still close with Jessica Mulroney. We wonder why Finding Freedom wasn't mentioned at all. We remember the People cover story that Abigail Spencer said she arranged to help set the record straight about Meghan. The letter Meghan wrote to her father was mentioned in that article and Chandra thinks that was the impetus for him to leak it to the Mail. The docuseries barely touched on all the charity work the Sussexes do. They're good people who work hard and connect with people. The word is getting out about them to the general public. Comments of the week: Minutes 28:30 to end My comments of the week are from Lala11_7 and Mcmmom on Hecate's post about Jennifer Coolidge saying there's real power in not giving a f-k as you get older. I talk about having reading glasses all over my house. We think Harry looks cute in his reading glasses. Chandra's comment of the week is from Jais on the post about Omid Scobie's next book, Endgame. Thanks for listening bitches
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 2:30 I've been sick and you can hear it in my voice. It reminds Chandra of Polly Draper from 30 Something. We'll have an episode out next week and will be off the 24th and 31st for the holiday. Royals: Minutes 2:30 to 27:00 Will and Kate didn't even invite the nominees to the Earthshot Awards, which seemed like a parody. The celebrities attended in person though. This is especially hypocritical because there were stories in the British press about how the Waleses were so much better than the Sussexes and how William calls the Sussexes the Kardashians. This would have been a great opportunity to have the scientists get together and network. We got to see Harry and Meghan at the Ripple of Hope Awards, where they were honored for their activism. Meghan was wearing a beautiful sleek white off the shoulder Louis Vuitton gown with sleek hair. She just glowed. We remember her Salute to Freedom Gown because it was shown on the Harry and Meghan docuseries. We got the first three episodes of Harry & Meghan on Netflix and we've both watched them. Liz Garbus did a great job with their story. Most of it was known to us already but it's a great recap of their story and I was blown away by how well it was told. Chandra wishes it had come out earlier. We're not the audience for this series, people who have a passing interest in them are. We hope Omid Scobie is in the second half and we've heard that Christopher Bouzy is in it. We liked how much of Meghan's background pre-Harry the series covered. Meghan was so successful, fun and cool before she met her future husband. The British media has attacked Meghan for not having family other than her mother at her wedding, but the royals told her not to invite her favorite niece, Samantha's daughter Ashleigh, with whom she was close. That was new information to us. We were so impressed by Meghan's mom Doria. We liked how Samantha and Meghan's dad Tom were covered briefly and dismissed. We learned that Thomas's story about being yelled at by Harry on the phone was a lie because all he did was text with Meghan and it didn't even sound like him. We liked the section that put the racist treatment of Meghan into context with Brexit, the commonwealth and anti-immigration sentiment. Meghan explained her fashion choices and why she had a neutral color palette, although we think that's just her style. She also told the story of meeting Will and Kate for the first time and trying to hug them. She was very diplomatic about it. Chandra mentions how Meghan doesn't have deference toward royals because she's American. She'd already met other royals before Will and Kate and we assume that Eugenie and Beatrice were warmer toward her. Chandra says they wanted to establish their love story before explaining how things went so wrong in the UK. She also mentions the story about how the palaces denied being contacted for comment but that Netflix came with receipts. Harry explained how the press treatment of Meghan was racist and how his family blew him off and told them their wives went through it too. Comments of the week: Minutes 27:00 to end My comment of the week is from SAS on the post where Hecate wrote about Hilary Duff's fitness journey and her battle with an eating disorder. Chandra's comment of the week is from ArtHistorian on the post about how much William hates Harry and Meghan. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 7 We'll have episodes out for the next two weeks and will be off December 24th and 31st for the holiday. My dog has been doing great at the dog park. We've both been watching Wednesday and love it. Chandra's mom got covid but she's on the mend. Royals: Minutes 7:00 to 35 Will and Kate got booed at the Celtics game when they were shown on the Jumbotron. A Black reverend mentioned the legacy of colonialism and racism at one of their events, which the British tabloids saw as an attack on Will and Kate. Before this tour we had so many lead-up stories hyping what a big deal it would be and how it was William's Super Bowl moment. We wonder why they made this comparison, which makes no sense. Chandra thinks it's because Harry went to the Super Bowl. We also heard that the Earthshot Awards would be better than the Ripple of Hope awards, which are honoring the Sussexes. The NY Times quoted a Boston University historian who said that the Waleses need to “maintain a sense of relevance” and “justify their existence.” Meghan did a speech in Indianapolis at a fundraising dinner for the Women's Fund of Central Indiana. It had a media blackout so all we got was a photo and some eyewitness accounts. She also helped serve Thanksgiving lunch for the Downtown Women's Center in LA and donated 500 purses to her British charity, Smart Works. We got a teaser for Harry and Meghan's Netflix docuseries. It looks amazing and we're glad it's just called Harry and Meghan. We got new photos of them in the trailer and some brief statements. It looks like it has the same energy as Harry's Apple series, The Me You Can't See. We remember some of the scary things that have happened to Meghan when she was in the UK. The biggest story this week is about an activist named Ngozi Fulani who was invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace held by Camilla. Fulani founded Sistah Space, which supports African and Caribbean heritage women affected by domestic violence. While at the event, Fulani was accosted by one of Camilla's aides named Lady Susan Hussey, who touched her hair, repeatedly asked her where she was from as if she didn't belong, and wouldn't accept her answer that she was a British national. Hussey resigned after this and Camilla's office issued a statement calling this “unacceptable and deeply regrettable” and claiming they reached out to Fulani, but that was not true. Fulani has said in interviews that we shouldn't vilify Hussey and that she's an elder, but that's not an excuse for racism. She also said the palace is taking the easy way out by letting Hussey resign. Fulani would be happy to hold diversity training for the palace. Hussey is Prince William's godmother and said to have been Queen Elizabeth's favorite lady-in-waiting. She's 83 years old and Charles personally asked her to stay on after the Queen passed. She's also quoted by Tom Bower in his Revenge book saying that the Sussexes would “end in tears.” The royal family knows who she is and gave her a platform. At least two other women were with Fulani when this happened. One was Mandu Reid, Leader of The British Women's Equality Party. She did an interview where she described what happened. Reid said that this shows how the royal family needs to acknowledge institutional racism and commit to changing the culture. I play a segment from her interview where she explained how this corroborates Harry and Meghan's account. On one hand it's funny to see the royals expose themselves yet again, but on the other we feel terribly for Fulani and others who have had to deal with this racism. We're excited for Harry and Meghan's docuseries and Harry's memoir. Comments of the Week: Minutes 35:00 to end My comment of the week is from SideEye on the post about Camilla's staffer being racist. Chandra talks about people questioning where she's from. Chandra's comment of the week is from ElleV on the post about the White House Christmas decorations. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 2:00 We'll be off for the next two weeks and will be back on December 3rd. We talk about our Thanksgiving plans. Royals: Minutes 2:00 to 26:30 Chandra is five episodes in to The Crown. She wrote about Mou Mou, the fourth episode that goes into Mohamed Al-Fayed's backstory and connection to the royals. It's fascinating that Peter Morgan dedicated an episode to introducing the Al-Fayed family. The royals, with the exception of Diana, treated Mohamed terribly. This week, when Prince Charles and Camilla were visiting York, a 23-year-old man in the crowd threw eggs at them and missed. He also shouted “this country was built on the blood of slaves!” Camilla and Charles were taken away but everyone seemed unbothered and the security seemed lax. The man has been charged with a “public order offense.” There are photos of Charles earlier in the week talking to people while viewing eggs for some reason. Princess Kate went alone to her patronage the Rugby World Cup, and she visited the Colham Manor Children's Centre outside London where she spoke to staff about maternal mental health. We also heard that she's going to do a second Christmas Carol concert with ITV. We talk about all the junk we order online. Mike Tindall is on the reality show I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here. Sources told the press that Tindall did not clear it with King Charles ahead of time. Chandra doesn't think he should have to since he's not a working royal. Meghan's podcast examined The B Word as she calls it. She won't say the word bitch and we obviously can't relate. We love that she interviewed Robin Thede. We also got a photo of her with an “I Voted” sticker. We want Archewell merchandise. There was a story in Christopher Andersen's new book, The King: The Life of Charles III, claiming that Charles told a friend he didn't know Meghan was biracial when he first met her. I play a segment from Zoom where we talk about the royals. Chandra loves Olivia Williams as Camilla on The Crown. The actress playing Princess Anne, Claudia Harrison, is also very good. Dominic West has been giving interviews half praising and half shading King Charles. Elon Musk and Twitter: Minutes 26:30 to 30 Last week we talked about Elon Musk buying Twitter after he borrowed money and was leveraged to the hilt. This week he fired thousands of Twitter employees and a bunch of them are suing him in a class action suit for breaking employment law. He also endorsed a Republican Congress and he tweeted a meme featuring a Nazi soldier. Former twitter executives are saying he has no clue what he's doing and he's been sh-tposting constantly. He also implemented an extra checkmark, an “official” checkmark, that only lasted a few hours. Elon Musk is tanking Twitter. Comments of the Week: Minutes 30:00 to end Chandra's Comment of the Week is from BayTampaBay on the post about Penelope Knatchbull and Prince Philip's relationship. My COTW is from Abicci on the post about Rihanna's Savage x Fenty Show. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 8:00 We'll have an episode out next week and then we'll be off on November 20th and November 27th for Thanksgiving in the US. I got my dog a treadmill. Chandra saw Top Gun and Nope. Royals: Minutes 8:00 to 26:00 We got a new video with the Crown cast featuring clips from the upcoming season. The palace's attack on the Crown is making it sound epic. Dominic West, who plays Charles, gave an interview saying that the tampon phone call will be sympathetic and portrayed as lovers' banter. We're still hearing about Harry's memoir, which we talked about last week. In a petty move, King Charles appointed himself Captain General of the Royal Marines. In his statement he didn't mention that Prince Philip or Harry had the role before him. The Windsors are also reportedly worried about the book tour and promotion, which they should be. Chandra doesn't think Harry will go to the UK to promote the book. Meghan's podcast this week was about the expectation for wives and mothers to do it all and featured Pamela Adlon, Sam Jay and Sophie Trudeau. Pamela Adlon's talk really resonated with me. Chandra couldn't relate as she's childfree and doesn't have to compromise. Royal commenter Tom Bower said the quiet part out loud about Meghan. These people have been trying to break up Harry and Meghan for so long. Megyn Kelly also was racist and unhinged about Meghan. Bethenny Frankel has been posting unhinged sh-t about Meghan on TikTok and TikTokers have been taking her to task. Kate and William are doing stuff again after two and half weeks off. William went to the Tusk Conservation Awards alone on Tuesday, and he was at other conservation events on Wednesday where he was expertly trolled by a Nigerian filmmaker who told him to “Netflix and Chill.” Kate made a video for addiction awareness week and she finally did some events like “taking a meeting” and “making a phone call.” Kate and William did some events in Scarborough later in the week including visiting a youth charity. We also got an article about how they're going to focus on the cost of living crisis in Britain. Elon Musk and Twitter: Minutes 26:00 to 31:15 Elon Musk borrowed the money to buy Twitter and is heavily leveraged. He walked into the office with a literal sink, fired the board and senior management and lifted all the restrictions on hate speech. He also wants to charge a monthly subscription for blue checkmarks. The upside is that advertisers are pulling out in droves and this looks like a terrible investment for him. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about this. Comments of the Week: Minutes 31:15 to end Thanks to Leanne for her nice text! My comment of the week is from FeatherDuk on the post about Kanye blowing through his money. Chandra's comment of the week is from Noki on the post about Kate's big week. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:30 In case you missed our last episode, my five month old puppy was kicked out of puppy kindergarten and they wanted me to pay for private lessons for him. I hired someone else and my dog did great! Chandra's cat watches over her while she sleeps. She's also watching Murder, She Wrote and Unsolved Mysteries. We talk about UFOs. Royals: Minutes 6:30 to 26:00 We just got the title, cover and release date for Prince Harry's memoir, Spare. It's coming out January 10th but Chandra was hoping it would come out in December. Harry looks so unbothered on the cover. Last week Duchess Meghan's Variety interview came out. She was very diplomatic and focused on her life with Harry. We don't think When Harry Met Sally is the best romcom like Meghan said and prefer Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral. We think Harry and Meghan should produce romcoms for Netflix. Meghan confirmed the docuseries in that interview. She also spoke respectfully about the Queen. Meghan's podcast last week was about the archetype Bimbo and featured Paris Hilton. Meghan opened by saying she felt objectified while she was a briefcase girl on Deal or no Deal, but she was careful to say she was grateful for the opportunity and that it paid the bills and got her insurance and a SAG card. It was a nuanced conversation that was misunderstood by Whoopi Goldberg and Claudia Jordan, another former Deal or no Deal briefcase girl. This week's Archetypes podcast focused on the Angry Black Woman trope and featured interviews with Issa Rae and Ziwe. Meghan didn't talk about how the British press treated her, but it was the subtext. They talked about diminishing themselves, setting boundaries and how women are labeled as “difficult.” Late last week we got the trailer for season five of The Crown. King Charles keeps telling on himself by objecting so strongly. A friend of the royal family told the London Times the show was trying to destroy the royal family. Judy Dench wrote an open letter to the London Times asking that a disclaimer be added to the Crown. We later learned that she was up for a role on the show which fell through. Netflix did add a disclaimer – to the YouTube description. Netflix executives called out King Charles in a recent Deadline interview. King Charles is selling off his late mother The Queen's prized racehorses, which seems petty, especially so soon after his mother died. He could hand over operations to a family member instead and it's not like he needs the money. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about the royals. Camila is in India at some kind of wellness center. I guess we'll know what she's been doing if she comes back with a new face. Chandra thinks she's there to dry out and isn't there for plastic surgery. Kanye West: Minutes 26:00 to 32:45 Kanye West is finally facing consequences for being anti-Black, misogynistic and antisemitic. It took long enough. He's been dropped by The Gap, Adidas, Balenciaga and his agency, CAA. His culty school for kids, The Donda Academy, is also shutting down. He recently turned up at Sketchers headquarters and was turned away by security. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about Kanye. Comments of the Week: Minutes 32:45 to end Kaiser's comment of the week is from s808 on the response to the announcement of Harry's book title. My comment of the week is from Miranda on the post about Dr. Oz saying that abortion decisions should be made by the states along with “women, doctors, local political leaders.” Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 3:30 We'll be off next week and back on October 29th. My dog got kicked out of puppy kindergarten. Here's a link to the Twitter thread about that I mentioned. Royals: Minutes 3:30 to 21:30 We've been hearing for some time that the palace is worried about the upcoming fifth season of The Crown. The Windsors were pleased with it up until last season when Diana was introduced. We're hearing that the palace wants a fiction warning added. By freaking out about The Crown, Charles is bringing more attention to it. Prince Philip and his mistress Penny Knatchbull's relationship will be shown this season. Prince Charles' coronation will supposedly only be an hour but it will likely have other events that last the whole day. They're saying it won't be as opulent as Queen Elizabeth's coronation. There's a controversy over the crown that Camilla will wear as it has the Koh-i-noor diamond stolen from Indian. The coronation date is on May 6th, which will be Archie's fourth birthday. Chandra doesn't think this was even a factor in the planning. It's not known yet whether the Sussexes are invited, the royals are probably waiting to see what's in Harry's memoir. We're also hearing that Harry's memoir and their Netflix docuseries will be out in December. Prince Harry is suing Associated Newspapers, the parent company of The Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, along with Elton John and David Furnish, Elizabeth Hurley, Sadie Frost, and Baroness Doreen Lawrence, whose son Stephen Lawrence was murdered in a racist hate crime in 1993. It's over spying and surveillance. Omid Scobie reported in his column this week that Harry would take the stand if it came to that. Will and Kate are covering People Magazine this week. They're one of two covers along with Christopher Meloni. The coverage claims Will is going to step up running the Duchy of Cornwall and that they're supposedly embracing a heavier workload and their increased visibility. The Cambridges did a radio program for World Mental Health Day. The segment they released to their social media was so bad. Will just talked about a “toolbox” without giving examples. They should phase this issue out of their charity portfolio as they're lightweights. William is said to have spent last weekend at Balmoral alone without his wife and kids. I play a segment from Zoom where we talk about an humanitarian award the Sussexes are getting in December. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: Minutes 21:30 to 29:45 In January, 2021, Angelina sent an email to Brad offering to sell him her half of the Miraval wine business. This was released as part of her defense in Pitt's lawsuit against her for selling to Stoli. We also heard a statement from Angelina's lawyer that Brad hasn't denied his abuse of her and the kids. Brad had been cutting Angelina out of the business and was spending money in ways she hadn't approved. He doesn't seem to care about this at all and is on the current cover of Billboard Magazine to show off the renovated music studio in Miraval. We are also hearing that he wants to sell his production company, Plan B. Chandra thinks Pitt has been bleeding money from that business and that he's cash poor. I play a segment from Zoom where we talk about Brad and Angelina. Comments of the week: Minutes 29:45 to end My Comments of the week are from Janey and MrsFonzieFace on Peridot's post about Jonathan Majors covering Men's Health and getting in incredible shape. Chandra's comment of the week is from Coco on the post about Brad Pitt trying to sell Plan B. Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 My dog did not do well at doggy day care. I've been watching 9-1-1. Chandra is watching Archer and Abbott Elementary. I watched a few House of the Dragon episodes but I didn't care about anyone. Chandra is reading the book Blackout by Erin Flanagan but she hates it. Royals: Minutes 6:00 to 22:15 Of the three royal biographies we talked about last week, Valentine Low's Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Throne has the most tea. Low wrote about how Meghan was smeared back in March of 2021, right before the Oprah interview aired, for wearing earrings which were a wedding gift from Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who ordered the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. It's unclear what Meghan was told about the provenance of the jewelry. These earrings were part of the royal collection and had to be lent to Meghan to wear. Katie Nicholl wrote in The New Royals about how mad the royal rota was at Harry and Meghan for keeping the news of Archie's birth a secret at first and for staging the photos at Windsor castle. Meghan said in her Oprah interview that she was scared Archie wasn't going to be kept safe because he wasn't being given a title or security, and that she also wasn't asked to pose for photos outside the hospital. Nicholl said in an interview that staffers were mad that Meghan expected them to do work, essentially. She also wrote that Charles was jealous of Diana, that he was jealous of Kate and that Kate and William were jealous of Meghan. We got a new official photo of Charles, Camilla, William and Kate that was taken on September 18th at a diplomatic reception the day before Queen Elizabeth's funeral. The tone is off as they're all smiling. We talk about how Kate raided the Queen's jewelry right after the Queen died. We also got two new photo portraits of Meghan and Harry, taken at the One Young World Summit before the Queen passed. Charles wants to stop Harry's memoir. The Telegraph reported that Charles is considering getting his lawyers to explore options. They're also upset about Harry and Meghan's upcoming Netflix documentary. Last week we talked about how Queen Margrethe of Denmark was taking away the HRH and Prince and Princess titles from her four grandchildren from her younger son, Prince Joaquim. Joaquim and his second wife, Mary, gave an interview admitting that they were hurt by this decision and that their relationship with the family was complicated. After that Margrethe apologized and said she hopes that they can all make peace, but that she stands by her decision. Joaquim's oldest son, former Prince Nikolai, 23, said he's in shock and sad about the decision. Joaquim and Mary have been living in France for years. I play a segment from Zoom where we talk about the royals. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: Minutes 22:15 to 28:30 We last talked about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in episode 132, when the heavily redacted FBI report came out. We didn't hear until now that Brad choked one of their children, that he poured beer and wine on the children, and that he hit one of the children in the face. Those details were included in Jolie's cross complaint to his objection to her selling her portion of Chateau Miraval, their wine company. It took her years of legal harassment from Brad to come out with this information. She gave him so many chances to buy out her portion of the company. Stoli, which bought Angelina's portion of the business, is now suing Brad. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about Brad and Angelina. Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady: Minutes 28:30 to 31:45 Gisele Bundchen is divorcing Tom Brady. This divorce has been exceptional in that she's been clear about the reasons she's doing it, because he went back to playing football after announcing his retirement. She's been caring for their children for years and he's promised her that she could return to her career when he retired but he reneged on that. They're being admirably open about their problems. Gisele's Elle interview was so breezy and forward-focused. There was a story about how Tom was attentive to their children “in the off season.” Comments of the Week: 31:45 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Emmi on the post about who should be the next Bond. My comment of the week is from girl ninja on the post about Naomi Watts talking about menopause. Thanks for listening bitches!
