Pour ce premier épisode, je te parle de : "The Idea in You : How to Find It, Build It, and Change Your Life" de Martin Armor et Alex Pellew. Un livre dont tu as sans doute déjà entendu parlé si tu écoutes mon podcast, mais cette fois, je te parle de mon avis sur ce livre de façon globale. Bonne écoute

A new book explores the joys and challenges of romance in the later years of one's life. Journalist Francine Russo joins us to discuss her book, Love After 50: How to Find It, Enjoy It, and Keep It, and take calls from listeners about their experience dating after 50.
L'Rain is the musical persona of the singer and multi-instrumentalist Taja Cheek. Her new album Fatigue begins with a lyrical quandary: “what have you done to change?” The music that follows takes us on a journey of self discovery with songs interwoven with home recordings of practicing piano, clapping games, and everyday life. The first full length song “Find It” repeats the mantra “make a way out of no way,” looking for a pathway out of darkness. An unexpected sample of a preacher at a friend's funeral service — recorded with permission by L'Rain — interrupts the futile chant promising that “good days outweigh my bad days.” But L'Rain doesn't provide quick solutions for making change. Rather, she takes us on a journey that evades easy understanding. By avoiding conventional structures, L'Rain asks the listener to lean in close to the music. The sounds are at times unsettling. On “Blame Me” the guitar is nauseating, warbling in and out of tune. But the uncomfortable moments are blanketed over on songs like “Take Two” where warm synthesizers mix with angelic voices. Moments of melodic hooks and captivating rhythms on “Suck Teeth” reveal L'Rain's command over the experimental work — she is meticulous about building layers of sound on her many instruments. Had L'Rain pursued a more traditionalist style of songwriting, or further fleshed out Fatigue's catchiest moments, the record might be an easier listen, but not as rewarding. The album's unduating moods and non-linearity mirror the unpredictability of human emotion, and the up and down nature of personal change. To help decipher this album, Switched On Pop's Charlie Harding spoke with L'Rain at JBL's flagship store in SoHo in front of a live audience. Learn more about your ad choices. Life As It Was Meant to Be Part 6: How to Have Hope Louie Marsh, 7-21-2021 Slide of “new” old series! TWO QUOTES: “What oxygen is for the lungs, such is hope for the meaning of life.” - Emil Brunner “Hopes are for the living, the dead are without hope. – Theocritus “Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” ― Epicurus “Hope is a waking dream.” ― Aristotle 1) FIND IT in Christ alone! “13But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13–14, ESV) Christ is God – so my hope is RELIABLE! Jesus is alive so my hope is ALIVE He's coming back – my hope extends beyond this 2) GRASP Hope's full extent. “15For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18Therefore encourage one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:15–18, ESV) Hope is for the living & the Hope lasts Hope brings me BACK to Christ. 3) LIVE OUT hope's implications by… FOCUSING on what I'm doing. “5For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. 6So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.” (1 Thessalonians 5:5–6, ESV) UNDERSTANDING my new nature. “4But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief.”…“8But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” (1 Thessalonians 5:4, 8, ESV) LIVING by faith. But let us who live in the light think clearly, protected by the body armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation. 1 Thes. 5:8 (NLT) ACTING in love. But not us! Since we're creatures of Day, let's act like it. Walk out into the daylight sober, dressed up in faith, love, and the hope of salvation. 1 Thes. 5:8 (Mes) 4) COMPREHENDING my true destiny! “9For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. 11Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:9–11, ESV) God didn't set us up for an angry rejection but for salvation by our Master… 1 Thes. 5:9 (Mes) Your purpose in life is to serve God in a special way!!! Not to be a object of wrath – but part of His family!

In this week's episode I share with you how to make better choices in life! There is no doubt that life is full of CHOICES and/or decisions. My goal is to share with you REASONS why we should NEVER regret the choices we have made in our life and learn to make BETTER choices moving forward. I always say that “a choice you make TODAY can CHANGE your destiny for tomorrow”. WE ARE ALL HUMAN and everyone has made some wrong choices, but NEVER beat yourself up for that. Learn from it and move forward to do better and understand your reasons for making that CHOICE at that time, accept it and move FORWARD and GROW from it. MOTIVATE yourself to make better choices as you grow in life. Take on NEW opportunities, and find that one thing that keeps you moving forward. FIND IT and GROW IT. YOU be YOU. Do not live someone else's DREAM because you are afraid to make a wrong choice. Get to know you and live your own life, not someone else's. UNDERSTANDING that we CANNOT always be waiting for that PERFECT TIME to make a choice. When you think you finally made the right choice at the perfect time there is always something or someone else that opposes it. Avoiding the NOISE around you. When it comes time to make those difficult choices, take advice from those you TRUST and have guided you in your life and know who to take advice from. And as I always say … “Choices in LIFE we MAKE allow for us to GROW tomorrow” - Hugo Almeida.

PEG Interviews Latvian Singer Songwriter Visual Artist Waterflower Waterflower has a history of creating experimental music and music videos. Her live shows are audio-visual and rich in soundscapes, created by the artist's signature vocals, synthesizers (using real plants to generate sound), and digital sampling. Her latest album, Balta Gaisma (White Light) is a step towards pop-music. While not leaving her experimental leanings behind, she embraces 21st Century pop, exploring the cadences of Hyper-pop and PC Music. These songs range from the haunting Dawning to the guitar heavy Chemtrail, via the LGBTQA+ positive message of Find It! and Palm vs Palm - a track composed with capacitive synths attached to plants. It is nominated for two Zelta Mikrofons awards: Best Experimental Music Album and Best Album Design. Waterflower has toured extensively, but unfortunately had to cancel a large tour of Asia due to Covid. On her travels she has met her hero Brian Eno, and appeared at Positivus Festival, Manchester Folk Horror Festival and Ladyfest Tallinn. Catholic novelist Carolyn Astalk shares her journey to becoming a published author, while also being a wife and the mom of 4 kids. I think you'll find Carolyn's work to be relatable and relevant because she's not afraid to write about characters who deal with issues that many Catholics (and non-Catholics alike) have faced but won't talk about, like infidelity and pornography addiction. Yet, the beauty in all of this is how she shows us that we're all still lovable and capable of loving others. Her characters give an amazing example of how to live that out. Here are 5 of my favorite Big Ideas from The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell. Hope you enjoy! Joseph Campbell was an American author and teacher best known for his work in the field of comparative mythology. If you’ve ever heard of the “Hero’s Journey,” you have him and his lifelong commitment to studying mythology to thank. This book (written in 1949) is the one that captures the essence of his thoughts on the “monomyth” that shows up across all cultures. One universal hero. A thousand faces. Big Ideas we explore include: a quick look at the hero’s journey, moving past the veil of the unknown (aka romancing your discomfort zone) while creating micro hero journeys (all day every day), your ultimate boon (don’t make King Midas’s mistake), the mistake that the makers of legend made (growth mindset, guys!!), and a portrait of the modern hero (look in the mirror!). Today I have the honor of playing an interview I did with the three girls who are the hosts of The Worst Years podcast.Maeve is an only child with two moms and a dog named Brooklyn. She lived in Brooklyn, NY, until she was eight (hence the name of her dog). This summer, she will turn 11. Maeve is a competitive gymnast and plays clarinet. Her favorite subjects in school are writing, reading, science, art, and anything related to music. Maeve loves hiking and biking and everything outdoors. She's been going to Wild Earth since she was five. When she grows up, she wants to be an interior designer.Sabine is the middle child of a big family that lives in a three-generational household. She plays cello and piano and will be 11 this summer. She wants to be a mathematician for NASA when she grows up, so she can study the stars. She became a vegetarian when she saw a billboard about animal rights. When asked what's her favorite thing to do, she says, “Eat. Sleep. Play. Repeat.”Noelle at age 10 3/4 is the youngest of two children and lives happily between her amicably split parents. Noelle loves reading and writing. She likes cats, playing the ukulele, comedy, and dislikes the color chartreuse. Noelle sings and plays string bass, and thrives on karaoke in her spare time. She has been a Youth Leadership Panel Participant at OMEGA's 2019 Drawdown Conference and co-led YVFP's Civic Engagement and Democracy workshop at the Ashokan Center's 2020 Youth Empowerment & Sustainability Summit (YESS!).Jaysa won admission to the Fairchild Wheeler Interdistrict Multi-Magnet Campus where she attends the Information Technology and Software Engineering School. Lynne Cherry is the founder of YVFP and currently a Visiting Scholar at the Benjamin Center @ SUNY New Paltz. Lynne is collaborating with a variety of interdisciplinary partners to bring the YVFP film series and curriculum into NY schools and working with the Mid-Hudson Teacher Center on a professional development series for educators interested in integrating civic engagement, climate education and environmental justice into their classrooms.Young Voices for the Planet made a short doc film about Jaysa's story, Words Have Power. The film educates people about climate change and its effects upon humans, social justice in relation to climate justice, and environmental racism. Jaysa and Lynne have spoken after film screenings including the Belmont World Film Festival and the Climate Action Film Festival. Here's the Words Have Power lesson plan. The mission of the Young Voices for the Planet film series is to to limit the magnitude of climate change and its impacts by empowering children and youth, through uplifting and inspiring success stories, to take an essential role in informing their communities — and society at large, challenging decision-makers, and catalyzing change. They document youth speaking out, creating solutions and leading the change. These youth solutions to the climate crisis include stories of California kids banning plastic bags, Florida students saving their school $53,000 in energy costs, an 11-year-old German boy planting millions of trees and other young people changing laws, changing minds and changing society as they reduce the carbon footprint of their homes, schools and communities. Some vital YVFP partners:Zinn Education Project's - Teach Climate Justice ("Words Have Power" is included among these resources)Our Children's Trust (Juliana v US) Making the Case forScience-Based Climate ActionCELF (Children's Environmental Literacy Foundation) where students and teachers view "Words Have Power" as part of their citizen-science program and use AirBeam air quality monitors to check air pollution in their own neighborhood, making the links between contaminants, environmental policy and environmental health. They then work in teams to synthesize their findings and recommendations, and share these with their community.YVFP also supports these state and federal initiatives:New York State Senator Todd Kaminsky has introduced Senate Bill S6837that establishes a climate change education grant program. In 2016, thanks to a campaign by ACE and Global Kids, the NYC Council passed Resolution 0375-2014calling on the New York State Department of Education to include climate change lessons in the State's K-12 curriculum.Spurred by youth climate strikers, California Congresswoman, Barbara Lee, introduced a House resolution - H.Res 574 - in September 2019, supporting the teaching of climate change in U.S. schools. And last but not least, here are a few links showing the relationship between Air Pollution & Corona VirusWired: Pandemic has led to huge drop in air pollutionTime: Global Air Pollution down due to corona virusNYT: Air Pollution linked to higher corona deathsFast Company reports similarly in this April 2020 article by Adele Peters: "The Most Polluted Parts of the US Are More At Risk for Coronavirus Deaths."In an April 2020 Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Study, "Exposure to air pollution and COVID-19 mortality in the United States", researchers found:"…that an increase of only 1 g/m3 in PM2.5 [fine particulate matter] is associated with a 15% increase in the COVID-19 death rate, 95% confidence interval (CI) (5%, 25%). Results are statistically significant and robust to secondary and sensitivity analyses." For the Full Mystic Mamma report you can jump over here! And Divine Harmony!
