Full Text of ReadingsThursday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time Lectionary: 362The Saint of the day is Blessed Jolenta of PolandBlessed Jolenta of Poland's Story Jolenta was the daughter of Bela IV, King of Hungary. Her sister, St. Kunigunde, was married to the Duke of Poland. Jolenta was sent to Poland where her sister was to supervise her education. Eventually married to Boleslaus, the Duke of Greater Poland, Jolenta was able to use her material means to assist the poor, the sick, widows, and orphans. Her husband joined her in building hospitals, convents, and churches so that he was surnamed “the Pious.” Upon the death of her husband and the marriage of two of her daughters, Jolenta and her third daughter entered the convent of the Poor Clares. War forced Jolenta to move to another convent where despite her reluctance, she was made abbess. So well did Jolenta serve her Franciscan sisters by word and example, that her fame and good works continued to spread beyond the walls of the cloister. Her favorite devotion was the Passion of Christ. Indeed, Jesus appeared to her, telling her of her coming death. Many miracles, down to our own day, are said to have occurred at her grave. Reflection Jolenta's story begins like a fairy tale. But fairy tales seldom include the death of the prince and never end with the princess living out her days in a convent. Nonetheless, Jolenta's story has a happy ending. Her life of charity toward the poor and devotion to her Franciscan sisters indeed brought her to a “happily ever after.” Our lives may be short on fairy tale elements, but our generosity and our willingness to serve well the people we live with lead us toward an ending happier than we can imagine. In today's episode, Sarah is sitting down and chatting with Malissa Manilla, talking about all things health, wellness, and exercise science. Dr. Melissa Manilla's passion for health and wellness began as a child, when she found reading nutrition labels to be a fun task. Her lifelong love for nutrition and wellness began her academic career, as she studied Human Nutrition and Exercise Science at The Ohio State University. During her undergraduate studies, her desire to become a physician led her to the National University of Health Sciences, where she completed her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. While in the midst of her chiropractic coursework, she still felt something was missing and found her way back to her calling of clinical nutrition. She then pursued a Master's of Human Nutrition & Functional Medicine through the University of Western States, of which she graduated with distinction. Throughout her schooling, she also found a love for acupuncture, which led her to complete over 300 hours of acupuncture coursework and certifications. With acupuncture, she can treat both musculoskeletal and internal medicine conditions. Dr. Manilla is also trained in cupping therapy as an adjunct to her care. She has various certifications and has attended numerous seminars to enhance her clinical knowledge. She has attended almost every Apex Energetics Functional Medicine seminar focusing on endocrinology, thyroid conditions, neurological health, and blood work analysis. She has spent many hours at nutrition conferences, acupuncture seminars, and functional medicine forums, giving her a specialty in internal medicine. Her passions include autoimmune diseases, infertility, thyroid ailments, gut conditions, and clinical weight control.   Her greatest passion is fertility care. After experiencing two very different and emergent pregnancy losses, she has learned personally the hardship of trying to conceive. Worship is basic to everything else in the walk of faith. Seeing God for who He really is and responding to Him as he truly deserves is at the center of everything the church believes, practices, and seeks to accomplish. It is so important, that if it gets off track, it is disastrous for the people of God.When the people lost their awe of God and let their worship deteriorate, everything else fell apart. They began to compromise and fall into sin. They lost their passion for the lost around them. They stopped giving sacrificially and dissension arose within their ranks.  When worship got fuzzy it led to cold hearts, hard spirits, and the death of love.The Bible gives us three reasons why worship matters both personally and corporately. 1.     Worship is the dividing line of all humanity. Essentially, all human beings can be divided into two groups: those who willingly bow their knee to the true and Living God, and those who do not…and will not. This line was first seen back in the book of Genesis with the first two people ever born—Cain and Abel. Abel gave God his first and his best, and God was pleased. But Cain only gave “some” of his crops. His worship was careless and mindless, and God was displeased. In the end, Cain's hardened heart led him to murder his brother. (Gen. 4:1-12)  A failure to worship wholeheartedly not only dishonors God, it removes you from God's blessing, and is the first step toward sin gaining a foothold in your life.  2.     Worship is the destiny of the redeemed.We were made to worship. We were saved so that we might “declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” (1 Pet. 2:9) And one day, when we see Him face to face, we will worship Him fully, an eternal celebration of the wonders and glories of God.But we don't have to wait until then to experience His presence.  You can know the firstfruits of that here and now as you provide Him a throne in your worship. 3.     Worship is the one disctinctive that God cannot give Himself. God is completely self-existent. He depends no one and no thing for anything. And yet, there is one thing He cannot give Himself: people who will worship Him. Indeed, He longs for this. In John 4:23, Jesus said that the Father is seeking those who will worship Him in Spirit and in truth.Will you be one who says, “I will be that kind of worshipper.
