Viirtue Streamlines Onboarding with 80% Success Rate, Elevates Partner Experience, “Partners can validate configurations in real-time. They don't need to submit tickets to figure out if it's working.” “We have achieved an 80% success rate by combining self-service tools with white-glove guidance. It's about equipping partners to succeed from day one.” That's how Tim Miller, Senior Vice President of Client Success at Viirtue, opened a special online podcast with Technology Reseller News. Miller was joined by Dan Rosenrauch and Justin Baker to walk through the company's proven onboarding process for partners entering Viirtue's white-label UCaaS program. The session provided a rare behind-the-scenes look at how Viirtue approaches onboarding—beginning with a dedicated project manager and a welcome call, then progressing through a proprietary real-time branding and setup portal. “We built our own system for SMTP, DNS, and branding setup to eliminate friction,” said Miller. “Partners can validate configurations in real-time. They don't need to submit tickets to figure out if it's working.” The process doesn't stop with setup. Viirtue pairs each new partner with an onboarding concierge—Julie—who guides the partner for up to 45 days. From porting numbers to building quotes and billing clients, she ensures that partners aren't just technically ready—they're business-ready. “We're proud that our partners don't feel lost,” added Rosenrauch. “This is an industry with a lot of complexity. Our job is to reduce that complexity with real-world support and step-by-step tools.” Viirtue's learning platform has been fully revamped to streamline education from 8–12 hours down to about 4–5 hours. Final assignments ensure partners can demonstrate core competencies before fully going live. From there, partners gain access to a thriving Slack community—a live knowledge base where white-label providers help each other troubleshoot issues like doorbell integrations or remote installations in unconventional environments. “It's a place where partners share practical wisdom,” said Miller. Viirtue also stands apart in its commitment to transparency, having pioneered a public status page among white-label carriers. “We don't hide disruptions behind a login,” noted Rosenrauch. “Our partners need to be in the loop, and we make sure they are.” The company's emphasis on transparency, structure, and personalization culminates in what it believes to be the industry's best onboarding process—with an 80% completion rate, compared to an industry average closer to 50–60%. For those ready to resell UCaaS with confidence, Viirtue's onboarding isn't just a checklist—it's a launchpad. Learn more at viirtue.com (spelled with two i's).

Minnesota ‘red-tape experiment' streamlines permitting process to achieve carbon-free grid

Wind and solar are among the cheapest energy sources available today, but even when clean-energy projects are ready to go, a cumbersome permit process is slowing down their implementation. Allison Prang wrote a New York Times article about a Minnesota experiment to cut the red tape that is impeding the state's ability to achieve its clean-energy goals. She spoke to MPR chief meteorologist Paul Huttner about her reporting.  The transcript below has been lightly edited for clarity and length. Minnesota has a goal of carbon-free on the electric grid by 2040. How does this new law help speed up that process? When I talked to Governor Walz, he said it was fair to say that without doing some reform for the state's permitting process, it would be tough for Minnesota to hit that goal.I talked to one lawyer who works with companies that are working on projects, getting them approved in the state. He said it's taken some as long as 13 months, and people are hoping that the permanent reform law could shave off the typical timeline by several months. If it does what they want, it could make it much quicker for projects to come online. Is this just in Minnesota, or is this a national problem, too? Permitting reform is a very unsexy and yet super crucial topic that the whole country is grappling with. In Washington, members of Congress have tried to tackle the issue, because it does have bipartisan support. But it's not just a national issue; there are things states can do to tackle the problem. Like Minnesota, other states have also passed laws trying to make the process easier at home, and sometimes localities are involved. It really depends on where an energy developer is working — what state, what area in the state? That's why it's so complicated. It really, really is situational. What should we be watching for with getting these projects to the grid going forward? The really big thing that's happening in the backdrop of all of this is that not only are we seeing the country electrify more broadly — and states and localities have these climate goals — but we're also going to see an increase in power demand like we haven't seen in decades. So that's happening at the same time, and part of that is because we're seeing more data centers come online. We just need more power as a country. A lot of people are watching if the new Congress will be able to get a permitting reform bill over the finish line, what that would look like, and asking would that make permanent renewables easier? It's going to be really interesting to see if the country can tackle this problem and make it easier, so that we can kind of meet this really crazy moment of this expected increase in demand. To hear the full conversation, click play on the audio player above or subscribe to the Climate Cast podcast.

Chapter 7 delves into the complexities of international intellectual property (IP) law, exploring the framework of international treaties and conventions, the challenges associated with cross-border enforcement, the roles played by global organizations like the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and provides case studies that illustrate these dynamics in action. International Treaties and Conventions International treaties and conventions provide a foundational framework for the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights across national borders. These agreements aim to harmonize the protection of intellectual property worldwide, making it easier for countries to cooperate and for rights holders to secure and enforce their rights internationally. Key International Treaties include: The Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property (1883): One of the first intellectual property treaties, establishing important principles such as national treatment, right of priority, and independence of patents granted in different countries. The Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (1886): Establishes protections for creators of literary and artistic works, ensuring they receive rights in all signatory countries as they do in their own. The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) (1970): Streamlines the filing of patents in multiple countries by allowing for a single "international" patent application. The Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks: Facilitates the registration of trademarks in multiple jurisdictions around the world through a single application. The Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) (1994): Administered by the World Trade Organization (WTO), TRIPS sets down minimum standards for many forms of intellectual property regulation that WTO members must comply with. Cross-border Enforcement Challenges Enforcing IP rights across national borders presents significant challenges. Differences in national laws, the resources available for enforcement, and the political and economic climate can all impact the effectiveness of IP protection internationally. Challenges include: Variability in Legal Frameworks: Even with international treaties, countries implement and interpret intellectual property laws differently, leading to inconsistencies that can complicate enforcement. Jurisdictional Issues: Determining which country's laws apply, and where legal action should be taken, can be complex and hinder the efficiency of enforcement actions. Counterfeiting and Piracy: These issues are particularly rampant in countries with less stringent enforcement of IP laws, making it difficult for rights holders to protect their interests. Role of WIPO and Other International Organizations WIPO plays a critical role in the international intellectual property system. As a specialized agency of the United Nations, WIPO facilitates international cooperation in the creation and protection of intellectual property. It administers several international treaties, offers dispute resolution services, and helps developing countries build their capacity to use intellectual property for economic development. Other significant organizations include: World Trade Organization (WTO): Manages the TRIPS agreement which affects how intellectual property is handled in trade agreements between member states. European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and similar regional bodies: Manage trademarks and designs within their respective regions, facilitating simpler processes for registration and enforcement across multiple countries. Case Studies of International IP Disputes Apple Inc. vs. Samsung Electronics Co.: This series of ongoing legal battles across multiple countries highlights issues with patent infringement and showcases how multinational companies protect their IP across different legal systems. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/law-school/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/law-school/support

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has changed to how disaster aid is given out. The move could offer survivors of natural disasters a simpler and more streamlined process to get help. Frank Matranga, the director of individual assistance for FEMA's Office of Response & Recovery, joins the show with more details. A new law that went into effect in January requires private insurers to cover doula services for pregnancies in Louisiana. Numerous studies have shown that pregnancy doulas — non-medical professionals who support and advocate for pregnant patients before, during and after they deliver their babies — improve maternal health outcomes. But until this year, they have been out of reach for many expecting Louisiana mothers. Alena Maschke, health reporter for The Times Picayune/The Advocate, tells us more. We could soon have more research on the Gulf of Mexico. That's thanks to a new ship currently being built in Houma. It's part of the U.S. Academic Research Fleet. Eva Tesfaye, Coastal Desk reporter, tells us how the ship could fill gaps in research in the understudied region. Today's episode of Louisiana Considered was hosted by Karen Henderson. In this podcast episode, MRS Bulletin's Sophia Chen interviews Nathan Gabor from the University of California, Riverside about his group's work on imaging and directing the flow of electrons in electronic devices. They designed their device by taking a crystal of yttrium iron garnet, which does not conduct electricity, and putting a nanometers-thick layer of platinum, which does conduct electricity, on top of it. When they illuminate the device with a laser, this device produces an electric current. They further discovered that when they combine the crystal with the platinum, the interface between the two materials exhibits magnetic properties. Gabor's research team used this sensitivity to a magnetic field to steer the electron flow in the device. This work was published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The best way to predict your future is to create it. - Abraham Lincoln   Data is king, they say. How can the RESNET Quality Assurance (QA) app's data insights revolutionize how we rate energy-efficient homes?   Imagine a world where getting your home energy rating was made easier by using a smartphone app. Is that the future the RESNET QA app promises?   Our trio of guests, Quality Assurance Designees (QADs) Cassandra Wright from Strand Systems and Leo Jansen from Energy Efficient Homes Midwest, and RESNET Quality Assurance Field  Specialist Billy Giblin, help us to understand the development and application of the new RESNET QA app, a tool designed to improve the quality and consistency of home energy ratings. Here are some key points:   Background: The QA checklist was created to address concerns about inconsistencies in quality assurance (QA) reviews. The checklist evolved through several versions and became a mandatory provider requirement. The need for better data access and tracking led to development of the QA app.   The App: Available on the Apple Store, Google Play, and as a web app. Streamlines the QA process by pulling data from the RESNET Buildings Registry. Saves time and reduces manual entries. Allows providers to control access for their QADs.   Future Plans: Integrate with other energy efficiency programs like Energy Star Indoor airPlus and Zero Energy Ready Homes. Create a forum for QADs to ask questions and share best practices. Develop dashboards for providers and QADs to track their QA and performance. Implement an API for providers who want to use their own tools for QA.   Benefits: Improves transparency and consistency in QA reviews. Provides valuable data for tracking and improving performance. Reduces the workload for QADs and providers.   Challenges: Providers who use a retroactive QA model may need to adjust their process. Learning curve for using the new app and API.   Overall, the RESNET QA app is a positive step towards improving the quality and consistency of home energy ratings. Everyone will need time to adjust to the new system, but the potential benefits are significant.
