We pile so much on ourselves throughout our life and run so many filters at every moment of the day that it is very easy to lose sight of the truth, our true selves. This meditation is a variation on the Flow Writing ecersize, where you sit down to write, uninterrupted for a set time. The pen doesn't stop moving, no matter what. The variation is that we will do this as a pure though exersize. Using the prompt "what are you pretending not to know?" and just see where your mind takes you. One breath at a time.

If you feel constantly overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally numb, or stuck in survival mode, your nervous system may be driving the cycle — not your mindset, motivation, or willpower. In this episode, we dive into the vagus nerve, the primary nerve responsible for regulating stress, calm, emotional safety, digestion, and connection. When the vagus nerve isn't supported, the body stays locked in fight-or-flight or shutdown, no matter how much self-care you try to add on.This conversation breaks down why modern women feel chronically stressed and exhausted, why quick fixes don't last, and how to work with your nervous system instead of overriding it. You'll learn how simple, science-backed practices can shift your body out of survival mode and back into calm, clarity, and connection — in real life, not just on retreat.I also share my personal experience with burnout: doing “all the right things” while still feeling reactive, disconnected, and depleted. What finally changed everything wasn't more discipline — it was learning how to regulate my nervous system from the inside, in small moments throughout the day.In this episode, we cover:▶︎ What the vagus nerve is and why it controls stress, calm, and emotional regulation▶︎ The difference between fight-or-flight, shutdown, and safety states▶︎ Why chronic stress isn't a mindset problem — it's a nervous system pattern▶︎ How posture, breath, and focus directly affect vagal tone▶︎ The “2-3-4 regulation rule”: two minutes, three times a day, for real change▶︎ Why narrow focus and screens keep the nervous system stuck in survival mode▶︎ How expanded gaze instantly signals safety to the brain▶︎ Why cold exposure activates the vagus nerve▶︎ How long exhales calm anxiety and lower stress hormones▶︎ Why play and laughter are powerful nervous system regulators▶︎ How small, consistent regulation reps outperform one-hour self-care routines

Trauma Bonding at a Societal LevelTrauma bonding at a societal level occurs when entire communities become emotionally attached to ongoing stress, chaos, and threat through repeated cycles of fear and temporary relief. Constant exposure to crisis-driven narratives keeps the nervous system in a heightened state of activation, where cortisol remains elevated and the brain's threat centers dominate decision-making. In this state, people often bond not to peace or truth, but to the very sources of stress that intermittently offer reassurance, identity, or meaning. Over time, this creates emotional dependence on narratives, movements, or media ecosystems that feel familiar and validating—even when they are harmful.Neurologically and physiologically, societal trauma bonding erodes clarity and resilience. The prefrontal cortex becomes less effective, nuance disappears, and group identity replaces independent discernment. Communities begin to mirror trauma responses seen in individuals: rigidity, hypervigilance, emotional reactivity, and fear of separation from the group. Healing begins when individuals restore nervous system regulation, reconnect to local reality, and reclaim rhythm, coherence, and embodied presence. Calm, grounded truth—rather than outrage—becomes the antidote that slowly dissolves trauma bonds and allows cultures to recover stability and compassion. Dr. Fred Clary, founder of Functional Analysis Chiropractic Technique and lifting/life coach/ gym-chalk covered philosopher talks about Community Gaslighting!

Puberty can feel overwhelming for kids and parents alike. In this episode of Facing the Dark, Wayne Stender and Dr. Kathy Koch explore new research on pubertal self efficacy and why confidence, not avoidance, is key to helping kids navigate this critical season. Drawing from findings in the Journal of Adolescence, they discuss how teens who understand what's happening in their bodies and emotions experience less anxiety and depression. Dr. Kathy explains self efficacy as the belief that "I can handle what's being asked of me," and shows parents how this confidence is built through contribution, clear instruction, patience, and ongoing conversation. Together, they unpack why puberty is such a significant identity shaping moment and why kids don't need mystery or silence, but guidance and reassurance. Grounded in Luke 2 and Jesus' own growth into maturity, this episode equips parents to replace fear with formation, helping kids experience puberty not as something to endure alone, but as a God designed process they are capable of walking through well.

In this heartfelt episode of The Child Psych Podcast, we're joined by Her Royal Highness Princess Noor of Jordan—author, mother, and passionate advocate for raising emotionally healthy children through compassion, presence, and storytelling.Princess Noor takes us behind the scenes of her meaningful children's books, including Sometimes, Pandy's Book of Thanks, and Whisper's Journey, exploring why themes like emotional awareness, kindness, mindfulness, and gratitude are not “extras,” but foundational skills for childhood.Together, we talk about how stories can help children name and move through big feelings, build emotional intelligence, and strengthen parent-child connection. Princess Noor also shares gentle, practical ways parents and educators can use storytelling as a tool for shared regulation—helping kids feel safe, understood, and supported during emotional moments. We also explore how motherhood shaped her writing, how her Jordanian heritage influences the messages she shares, and what she hopes children will carry with them long after the book is closed: a deeper sense of self-worth, calm, and compassion. This episode is a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most powerful emotional tools come in the form of a simple story—read together.

When you listen to ASMR Sleep Recordings, you can lock your phone, so you won't get any bothersome stimuli from notifications and other sounds from your phone. You can switch between apps while studying or working without pausing the ambient sound.About our sounds:Water creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. The sounds provided by ASMR Sleep Recordings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a treatment for sleep disorders or tinnitus. Consult your doctor if you regularly have severe sleeping problems, experience fitful/restless sleep or feel tired during the day.ASMR Sleep Recordings is the white noise and nature sounds podcast to help you sleep, study or soothe a baby. ASMR Sleep Recordings has uploaded more than 400+ episodes in the 4 years that the podcast has been online. You can listen to all episodes of the podcast on your favorite podcast platform. Toddlers have big feelings but haven't learned how to talk about them yet. Hitting, biting, and throwing are normal for their age and usually stop as they get older and better at communicating. Parents play a huge role in teaching their children how to handle their emotions.   Host Jessica Stewart-Gonzalez is joined by Mirna Tomic, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, to discuss these behaviors, how working together (co-regulation) can teach kids to manage their own feelings (self-regulate), and more! Host: Jessica Stewart-Gonzalez is the Chief of the Office of Children's Health at the Arizona Department of Health Services. She is married, has two young children, and loves reading (anything except parenting books!) and watching movies and TV.  She enjoys spending time with her kids (when they aren't driving her crazy) and celebrating all of their little, and big, accomplishments. Jessica has been in the field of family and child development for over 20 years, focused on normalizing the hard work of parenting and making it easier to ask the hard questions. If confidence has felt inconsistent lately, this episode is here to remind you: nothing has gone wrong. We've been taught to believe confidence is just a feeling — calm, certain, ready — and that once we feel it, then we can move. But real confidence doesn't work that way. Confidence is conditioned. It's built through action, repetition, and staying connected to yourself when things feel unfamiliar. This episode starts the Unavailable for Self-Abandonment series — conversations for the woman who is done negotiating with herself and is confident enough to disappoint because self-trust is now the standard. We're reframing confidence as something you practice, not something you wait for — and reconnecting you with the version of yourself who already knows how to move without guarantees. If you've ever thought, “Why do I feel less confident now than I used to?” — this episode will land deeply.WHAT WE GET INTO✨ Confidence is conditioningConfidence isn't motivation or mindset — it's built through action, practice, and repetition, especially when things feel uncomfortable.✨ Why confidence gets mistaken for a feelingWe confuse calm with capability. Calm comes after repetition — not before.✨ Discomfort isn't dangerYour nervous system feels alert when something is new — that doesn't mean you're incapable. It means you're in unfamiliar territory.✨ Why confidence feels inconsistent during growthNew environments require new reps — and new reps create new confidence.✨ Reconnecting with the version of you who already trusts herselfYou don't need to become someone new. You need to remember who you've been before.

When I told my husband the topic of our interview today, he asked, "What does that have to do with the gospel and discipleship?" As humans, most of our discipleship takes place where our feet are planted. For him, usually that's his workplace, but for me, that's my home. I want to be humble enough to invite people into my mess, but within limits. If people can't get into the house without tripping over 20 pairs of shoes it's harder to say "Come on over." I love hearing about other peoples systems for making that happen. Susan has spent years perfecting her rhythms and creating steady habits. In a market obsessed with chasing the highest number on the label, this one goes the opposite direction, and that's kind of the point. This episode explores Blue Steel in concentrate form, not flower, with a lot of attention paid to flavor, sensation, and how the effects actually unfold over time instead of all at once.Right out of the gate, the terpene profile makes itself known. Piney up front, with myrcene and beta-caryophyllene leading the charge. The flavor comes through fruity at first, then settles into something deeper and peppery on the exhale. It's noticeable, but not harsh, especially when dabbed at lower temperatures. The effects come on gently. Brandon describes it as a light dusting across the head rather than a heavy fog. Even though it's indica dominant, there's no haziness, no mental slowdown, and no derailment of your thoughts. The headspace stays clear and focused, while the body eases up, especially across the shoulders and back.As it settles in, Blue Steel shows its personality. Relaxed, subtle, quietly uplifting. It doesn't push you toward the couch, and it doesn't shove you into your own head. It feels functional. Present. Calm. This is framed as a daytime strain, especially for people who still want to get things done. For Brandon, who deals with chronic pain, it takes the sharp edge off without stealing attention or motivation. No chest pressure. No head pressure. No tightness. Just a smoother baseline. The episode also turns into a really practical conversation about dabs, dosing, and why concentrates don't have to mean getting obliterated. There's a clear explanation of why low-temperature dabbing preserves flavor and experience, how tiny amounts go a long way, and why pens can sometimes deliver inconsistent effects over time due to repeated heating and cooling. One of the most important takeaways here is that dabbing isn't about taking massive globs or chasing intensity. It's about control. Temperature control, dose control, and experience control.Blue Steel ends up being described as a genuinely beginner-friendly strain. Low THC, roughly around one percent CBG depending on the grower, and commonly used for pain, stress, and anxiety. It doesn't overwhelm or amplify anxious thoughts. Instead, it softens whatever edge you walked in with. This is the kind of strain you could use while working, hanging out with friends, or easing into cannabis if you're newer or more sensitive to higher THC products. It's calm without being dull, relaxing without being sedating, and clear-headed without being stimulating. Not flashy. Not aggressive. Just steady, pleasant, and effective.Sometimes that's exactly what you need.Keep the Mic on.Fuel the movement. The "Not Good Enough Program" and How To Rewrite It w/ Curtis McCullom

    Reflect Forward

There is a specific kind of exhaustion that does not come from workload. It comes from living under an internal verdict. Not good enough. Not worthy. Not capable. Leaders can deliver results while quietly chasing approval from a story they accepted long before they had the awareness to question it. Because it often looks like ambition and high standards, we reward it. We call it leadership. In this episode of Reflect Forward, I sit down with Curtis McCullom, CEO of Bespoke Human Potential Coaching and a clinical hypnotherapist, to explore what actually drives behavior beneath performance. Curtis introduces his Legit Mindset framework, learning, growing, expanding, and transforming. The sequence matters. Learning reveals what is running you. Growing releases emotional charge at the root. Expanding clarifies who you are becoming. Transforming requires daily reconditioning. Transformation is not a moment. It is a practice. Key Takeaways • Most performance issues are rooted in subconscious programming, not lack of effort. • Behavior is a pattern, not an identity. • Regulating the nervous system is a leadership skill. • Responsibility restores power, not shame. • Lasting transformation requires daily repetition, not a single breakthrough. We challenge one of the most common leadership myths. Most leaders are not stuck because they lack discipline or strategy. They are stuck because an old program is still running. Behavior is not identity. You are not broken. You are running a pattern. When that distinction lands, shame falls away and responsibility returns. We also explore triggers and nervous system regulation. A trigger feels external, but it is internal information. Owning it does not excuse others. It restores agency. Responsibility is not blame. Responsibility is power. And when the body is activated, the mind is not choosing. It is executing a script. Calm the body first, then the thinking can change. Language becomes another doorway to ownership. Shifting from “I am not enough” to “I am feeling not enough” separates identity from experience and opens better questions. Not why am I like this, but what is driving this right now and how do I want to respond. This conversation is a reminder that goals alone do not create change. Goals planted in bad soil only grow more weeds. Without addressing the emotional root, leaders simply repeat patterns at a higher level. Real change comes from releasing what is running you and reinforcing what you choose daily. Mic Drop Moments • Responsibility is not blame. Responsibility is power. • If you are activated, you are not choosing. You are executing a script. • Behavior is not identity. You are not broken. You are running a pattern. • Goals planted in bad soil only grow more weeds. • Transformation is not a breakthrough moment. It is a daily practice. This episode is an invitation to stop executing old scripts and start choosing who you are becoming. Send us a textFree Gift : Click here for MasterclassEver notice the tension where you know being visible is the next step: at work, in love, or in your direction and yet something in you quietly holds back? This episode goes straight to that contradiction. The block isn't a lack of confidence. And it isn't fear or self-doubt.It's a nervous system that learned, at some point, that visibility didn't lead to response, safety, or return, so it adapted by conserving energy. Not consciously. Automatically. We explore how attachment patterns and social environments teach systems when to offer themselves forward and when to withdraw. That withdrawal wasn't a failure. It was intelligent. It preserved dignity and stability when expression wasn't met.The problem is that this strategy doesn't automatically update when life changes. You'll hear why logic, mindset work, and “putting yourself out there” often fail here, not because they're wrong, but because systems don't respond to insight. They respond to conditions. This episode introduces a clear internal model: one part of you oriented toward expansion and contribution, and another responsible for safety and inhibition.Nothing is wrong with either part. The tension comes from how long one has been running the system alone.Rather than pushing for visibility, we reorient toward what allows systems to stand down on their own — the conditions under which expression becomes safe again and movement resumes without force. If what you're noticing right now isn't urgency or excitement, but a quiet readiness a sense that you're done being held back that's often the signal that structure, not pressure, is what's needed next.I've created a free masterclass that lays out the structure required for growth after withdrawal, not confidence training or hustle, but the conditions that allow a system to re-engage and rebuild. If that feels relevant, you'll find it at the top of the show notes.
