GM93: The Calm Before a Systemic Reckoning ft. William White

William White returns to assess a world edging closer to systemic stress. Drawing on decades advising central banks, he describes a macro regime defined not by temporary shocks, but by a deep reversal of the forces that once kept inflation low and debt manageable. From de-globalization and demographic decline to energy constraints and fragile supply chains, the conversation traces how rising costs collide with record public and private leverage. White warns that policy makers are trapped between inflationary pressures and debt sustainability, with no clean exit in sight. The discussion closes on AI, currency fragmentation, and the uncomfortable possibility that today's stability masks a far more dangerous future.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Alan on Twitter.Follow William on LinkedIn.Episode TimeStamps: 00:00 - Why unchecked booms become more dangerous over time01:37 - Setting the stage for a new global macro regime03:53 - From disinflation to persistent inflation pressure07:10 - Supply side forces reversing after decades of support12:07 - Debt accumulation and unintended policy consequences13:03 - Why higher rates did not trigger an immediate crisis18:53 - Debt dynamics and the problem of sustainability19:57 - Tipping points and the psychology of market breaks26:40 - What happens when...

Episode Summary If you're overwhelmed, tired, or stuck in fight-or-flight mode and unsure how to support your body without spending more money, this episode is for you. In today's conversation, Alexandra shares a simple, affordable, and often overlooked way to help the body recover from stress: music. Drawing from personal experience, Scripture, and educational research, this episode explores how music—especially instrumental music—can help the nervous system settle and create space for rest, reflection, and listening. This is a faith-centered reflection on how God designed sound and music for our wellbeing. No protocols. Just wisdom and discernment. This episode is especially for Christian women seeking clarity, peace, and a gentle way forward. Why Stress Recovery Doesn't Have to Be Expensive Many women feel stuck because they believe stress relief or healing requires money, programs, or products they can't afford. In this episode, Alexandra challenges that belief and reminds listeners that some of the most powerful supports for the nervous system are simple and already available. Music is one of those tools—created by God, accessible, and deeply influential when used intentionally. Rediscovering the Gift of Music Alexandra shares how music played a major role in her life growing up—from piano and violin to choir and orchestra—but gradually faded during the busy years of motherhood. A moving experience at a musical performance helped her realize how deeply music affected her emotionally and how much she missed it. Since then, music has become part of family life, stress recovery, and quiet reflection. What Research Helps Us Understand About Music Alexandra references educational research that explores how music affects the brain and nervous system, including: Its role in emotional regulation How it can influence calm and focus The way different types of music evoke different responses What Scripture Shows Us About Music The Bible repeatedly points to music as part of worship, spiritual expression, and restoration. This episode reflects on several passages, including: Revelation 5:8–9 – Music and worship before the throne Revelation 14:2–3 – The sound of harps and a new song Joshua 6 – Trumpets and obedience in the fall of Jericho 1 Samuel 16:23 – David playing music and Saul being refreshed These passages remind us that music is woven into God's design, not an afterthought. Why Instrumental Music Can Be Especially Calming Alexandra explains how instrumental music, without lyrics, has helped her: Calm her nervous system Focus on the beauty of sound Create stillness after prayer or Scripture reading Journal thoughts that align with biblical truth She shares how instrumental music can make it easier to slow down and listen. Choosing Music That Uplifts Not all music has the same effect. Alexandra encourages listeners to notice how their body responds and to choose music that feels uplifting and calming rather than intense or distressing. She shares personal examples, including violin covers, instrumental playlists, and soundtracks that evoke peace, strength, and hope. Time-Stamped Highlights 00:01 – A simple, affordable way to relieve stress 01:05 – Personal history with music 02:32 – Rediscovering music during adulthood 02:53 – Educational research on music and wellbeing 03:58 – Biblical passages about music 06:23 – Why instrumental music can be especially calming 07:51 – Using music during quiet time with God 09:22 – Choosing music that uplifts 10:46 – Encouragement to try this for yourself Key Takeaways Stress recovery doesn't always require money or complicated solutions Music is part of God's design for wellbeing Instrumental music can support calm and stillness Paying attention to your body builds discernment Simple practices can support peace without pressure Feeling Overwhelmed or Unsure What Your Body Needs? Hey Friends, What if your clutter isn't evidence of failure — but evidence of how much you've been carrying? In this episode, we kick off Day One of the January Reset by dismantling the pressure that comes with a new year and offering a different way to begin. Instead of forcing goals or pushing through, we slow down, regulate the nervous system, and set an intention that's grounded in the body — not willpower. You'll learn why feeling "behind" isn't a motivation problem, how clutter often reflects seasons of grief, caregiving, transition, and survival, and why change doesn't stick unless your nervous system feels safe enough to sustain it. Intention Setting:  This isn't about goals. It's about choosing who you want to be. Name what you want. (Less chaos, more ease, a new job, deeper connection.) Ask what's underneath that desire. How do you actually want to feel? (Calm, safety, confidence, openness.) Bring that feeling into your body. Ground your feet. Slow your breath. Soften your shoulders. Feel gravity. Write one sentence for today. "Today, I choose calm by staying grounded in my body." We also talk about what real commitment looks like — and how choosing yourself doesn't require intensity, just consistency. If you want support decluttering your entire home in a calm, sustainable way, the year-long Declutter Your Chaos program is open during the January trial period. You can switch between apps while studying or working without pausing the ambient sound.About our sounds:Water creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. The sounds provided by ASMR Sleep Recordings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a treatment for sleep disorders or tinnitus. Consult your doctor if you regularly have severe sleeping problems, experience fitful/restless sleep or feel tired during the day.ASMR Sleep Recordings is the white noise and nature sounds podcast to help you sleep, study or soothe a baby. Has the shaking of the world left you feeling paralyzed or unsure of how to step forward? Are you looking for a safe harbor in the midst of the "Venezuela events" and global instability? What if the chaos around you is actually an invitation to create an unshakeable sanctuary within you? In this urgent and deeply healing transmission, Michael Sandler shares a powerful nervous system reset designed for right now. Following the recent events that have shaken many to the core, Michael channels Archangel Michael to deliver a message of safety, grounding, and empowerment. This isn't just about surviving the news cycle; it is about finding your footing when the ground feels like it is moving. Michael explains why 2026 is the "Sanctuary Year", how to move from a "lizard brain" reaction to a heart-centered power, and provides specific, real-time energetic clearings to remove the ancestral fears of war and chaos from your field. Key Topics: The "Sanctuary Year": Why Archangel Michael is relabeling 2026 as a year of safety and haven, despite the external "quickening." Turtle Breathing: A specific breathing technique ("Tai Chi" style) to immediately slow down a racing mind and find peace. A powerful grounding method to root yourself into the earth when you feel "spun" by world events. Why asking "How's the weather?" no longer serves us, and the brave question you must ask instead: "How is your soul doing?" The science behind why chanting "OM" can double your cell membrane's water-holding capacity and instantly switch off the fight-or-flight response. The "Bunny" Strategy: Why looking at "cute and fuzzy" things (like Rabbit Island in Japan!) is legitimate medicine for a fried nervous system. This episode is a balm for your spirit. If you have been holding your breath waiting for the next shoe to drop, this message will help you exhale, remember your power, and realize that your calm is not passive; it is powerful. The kind that builds up quietly and then suddenly feels overwhelming. Especially in busy homes. Especially when you're juggling family life, mental load, and a brain that works fast and forgets faster. Is leaving things out actually helping you rememberOr is it adding to the chaos?I share a real conversation from my own kitchen that sparked this episode and why it highlighted something so many women struggle with when it comes to decluttering, organizing, and home organization. We dive into why “I'll put it away later” so often backfires and how even small habits can either support your organization or completely derail it.This episode is about:Making declutter strategies work in real lifeUnderstanding the difference between clutter and intentional systemsReducing friction in your home without lowering your standardsOvercoming overwhelm without trying to be more disciplined or perfectBecause the goal isn't a spotless house. It's an organized home that supports your life. And a family system that doesn't rely on you remembering everything. What if your reminders didn't live on every surface? What if tidying didn't create tension in your home?If you're working on decluttering, organizing, and building habits that actually stick, this episode will give you a fresh way to look at how your home organization supports your brain, not fights it.

David Nurse, high-performance coach to NBA All-Stars and Olympic gold medalists, discovered that elite performers don't hope for flow—they engineer it. The secret isn't motivation or talent. It's neuroscience. This isn't vague "find your flow" advice. This is the brain mapping research revealing that flow state occurs at a precise frequency—10 Hz in the Alpha zone—and the specific protocols to train your nervous system to access it on demand. David breaks down why legendary athletes like Kobe Bryant could enter "the zone" during championships, the paradoxical tension required for effortless focus, and the deep practice methodology that builds neural pathways for consistent peak performance. Discover: • The 10 Hz revelation—why flow happens at a measurable brainwave frequency (and how to train your brain to reach it) • Why the 10,000-hour rule is incomplete—the "deep practice" feedback loop that builds myelin and creates mastery • The "bumper bowling" principle—how removing fear of failure unlocks creative genius • Alex Honnold's "Free Solo" mindset—why elite performers visualize disasters, not just success • The TAP trigger for daily flow—Trust, Acceptance, and Presence as the gateway to effortless performance • The Flow Code formula—combining visualization, body scanning, and bilateral tapping to down-regulate your nervous system • Flow beyond athletics—how to access the zone for creative work, presentations, and high-stakes moments Here's what separates amateurs from world-class: amateurs wait for inspiration. Masters train their nervous systems to produce flow on command. If you've ever experienced a moment where everything clicked and wondered why you can't recreate it—this episode decodes the exact neural pathway to get back there. High performers often assume burnout means failure. But what if success feels exhausting because you're divided inside? This episode explores decision fatigue, role confusion, and why identity-level recalibration restores energy without losing drive. Why does success feel exhausting even when everything looks “right”?Many high performers, leaders, and high-capacity humans reach a point where the life they built no longer feels the way they expected it to feel. There's no obvious crisis. No failure to point to. Yet beneath the surface, there's decision fatigue, role confusion, and a quiet sense of depletion that rest alone doesn't resolve. In this episode of The Recalibration, Julie Holly introduces a rarely named truth: burnout is often not about overwork — it's about fragmentation. When your nervous system learns to regulate by context instead of identity, you begin living from multiple internal versions of yourself. Calm in one room. Braced in another. Present at home, vigilant with clients. Over time, this internal division creates success fatigue, spiritual exhaustion, and a loss of felt coherence — even in a life that looks objectively successful. This episode explores:Why burnout recovery often fails when identity misalignment goes unaddressedHow decision fatigue is compounded by internal role-switchingWhy “being on” all the time is a nervous-system strategy, not strengthThe difference between flexibility and fragmentationHow success without fulfillment often signals identity drift, not weaknessJulie introduces Identity-Level Recalibration (ILR) — not another mindset tactic or productivity strategy, but the root-level recalibration that makes every other tool effective again. ILR begins with the who, not the how, restoring internal coherence so peace, purpose, and productivity can coexist. This conversation is especially relevant for those navigating:high achiever burnoutleadership fatiguespiritual exhaustionsuccess that feels emptypressure to perform across rolesToday's Micro RecalibrationYou'll find this in the Recalibration Companion, but here's where to begin:Where do I feel most like myself — and where do I feel the most “on”?No fixing. No judging. Just noticing. That awareness is where integration begins.Explore Identity-Level Recalibration→ Join the next Friday Recalibration Live experience → Take your listening deeper! This particular episode lasts two hours and has no ads in the middle, so you won't be woken up or disturbed while focusing or relaxing. When you listen to ASMR Sleep Recordings, you can lock your phone, so you won't get any bothersome stimuli from notifications and other sounds from your phone. A tambouras is running through the river… ambience. I don't have much this week. The magic of the holiday passed pretty quickly as the news kicked back on with the new thing to worry about. Only they don't seem too worried about it, which really worries me.Honestly, just turn off the TV. **** them. Listen to this week's episode, which is an earlier recording of Vermont's Mad River and a buzzing tambouras (and a distant drum). Ignore the world.Or turn on a semi-autobiographical film about two brothers in Montana who like to fly-fish the crap out of a river with their dad while speaking earnestly, often. The movie A River Runs Through It is the inspiration for this week's title (and more, if I fished around for a deep, dangling metaphor or something).I saw the film when I was 16 and would have preferred to be next door for the screening of Under Siege. I could just make out the muffled screams of slaughtered bad guys booming from the speakers in the auditorium to my right. I agreed to A River Runs Through It because my sister was bringing a friend I thought was cute.

This week Dr. Gregg Mays shares a thought he had recently: Peter was calm and able to sleep because he put his trust in God. He may have recalled Jesus sleeping when the boat and the men seemed to be in danger. We too, must follow Christ's example. He came to live an exemplary life for us, not to only die.Foundation Scripture: Mark 4:35-41; Acts 12:5-11How can Agape Leaders serve you?  Please find us at:         Website:  http://www.agapeleaders.org/    LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/gregg-mays/      Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/agapeleaders.org     Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/agapeleaders10/    Bible Break With Agape Leaders: http://www.agapeleaders.org/daily-devotionTik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@greggmaysYouTube: https://youtube.com/channel/UCmM7ETR652mLtDSKSjda-pwGet Your Copy of the A Word Wednesday Devotion: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=A+Word+Wednesday+Devotion&ref=nav_bb_sbRead Dr. Mays' book Practical Leadership: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=practical+leadership+lessons+from+an+average+leader&crid=259U5RNS5J5W5&sprefix=Practical+Leadership%2Caps%2C102&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_4_20Give to ALCFM: http://www.agapeleaders.org/store/p15/Agape_Leaders_Christian_Fellowship_Ministry_Support.html

Is there a storm in your son's life? When your son inevitably faces something difficult in his life, it may feel like a hurricane is blowing through. And when it does, you want nothing more than to end the storm—or at least hold an umbrella over your boy's head. But as hard as we try, we cannot protect our son from every pain in this life. But here's the good news. Whatever storm your son is enduring right now, Jesus is with him. The wind and waves obey Jesus. So when the winds pick up and the rain beats down, point your son to his Savior. Pray that he clings to the only one who can truly calm the storm.
