If you struggle with the terrifying reality that everything changes, this conversation is for you. Bart van Melik is a meditation teacher, psychotherapist, and our Teacher of the Month for January. In this live session recorded on Zoom with subscribers to the 10% with Dan Harris app, Bart and Dan explore one of Bart's favorite teachings: "Keep calmly knowing change"—four words that supposedly distill all 84,000 of the Buddha's teachings. We talk about: Why attuning to the flow of things brings peace (even though change is terrifying)—and what the Buddha said on his deathbed about impermanence How to introduce meditation to kids without making it seem difficult or boring The three dimensions of mindfulness: internal (your own mind), external (noticing other people's breath on the subway), and relational (the field we're all co-creating together) Whether connecting through venting and complaining is harmless or something to examine more closely "Useless speech" (sampappalāpa)—the Pali term for saying stuff that doesn't really matter, and why the urge is often just "look at me" Why Bart is still on this path after all these years: community Bart closes with a beautiful dedication about coming home to the body and appreciating that we show up in community. Welcome to Day 6 of the Elegant Productivity Meditation Series: Get More Done With Less Stress. Today you'll experience a layered meditation—bringing together the techniques you've practiced throughout the week into one simple, elegant flow. Instead of trying harder, you'll practice aligning your mind and body so focus becomes natural. This episode is designed to help you feel clear, steady, and supported—especially if you've been scattered, overextended, or mentally tired. You'll move through a sequence that settles the nervous system, collects your attention, and helps you choose your next step with confidence. Today's Practice: Layer the Week's Techniques Begin by grounding your body and softening your breath Add your chosen hand mudra (or rest hands gently in your lap) Bring focus to your energy center (such as the Crown Chakra for clarity and perspective) End with a brief "elegant priority" reflection: one meaningful action you'll take next This is your integration day—the moment where everything clicks into a rhythm you can return to anytime. Press play and let your productivity feel calm, intentional, and sustainable. ABOUT THIS WEEK'S SERIES Welcome to the Elegant Productivity Meditation Series—a calming, results-oriented week designed to help you accomplish more with less stress. Each episode supports a different pillar of sustainable productivity: clarity, focus, energy, time, momentum, boundaries, and integration. You'll train your attention, reset your nervous system, simplify priorities, and build a graceful rhythm you can actually maintain—so productivity feels steady, spacious, and aligned. Best time to listen: morning planning, before deep work, mid-day reset, or after work to release mental clutter. Weekly intention: calm mind, clear priorities, consistent follow-through—without burnout. This is day 6 of a 7-day meditation series, "Elegant Productivity Meditation Series: Get More Done With Less Stress," episodes 2882-2888. THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE - STOP BEING A TIME VICTIM: Eliminate from your speech words that indicate not having enough time, or having too much time. Each day, send one tiny ripple of kindness: silently offer a loving-kindness phrase to yourself, a neutral person, and a difficult moment (not necessarily a difficult person). Keep it light—3 breaths each— and track your streak with a simple checkmark. THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY Day 1: VISUALIZATION: Mental Focus Day 2: AFFIRMATION: "Time comes from me." Day 3: CLARITY BREATH: Inhale: to a comfortable count Pause: to the same count Exhale: to the same count Day 4: DHYANA MUDRA Lose yourself in time and space by placing your right hand on top of your left hand, and touching thumb tips together. Improve your health and happiness. The sound you hear in this episode creates a calm atmosphere and at the same time blocks out disturbing noises. This will help you de-stress, unwind, and rest. Enjoy two hours of relaxing sounds to help you relax, focus, study and fall asleep.About ASMR Sleep Recordings:The purpose of ASMR Sleep Recording is to help you sleep and concentrate better. This particular episode lasts two hours and has no ads in the middle, so you won't be woken up or disturbed while focusing or relaxing. When you listen to ASMR Sleep Recordings, you can lock your phone, so you won't get any bothersome stimuli from notifications and other sounds from your phone. You can switch between apps while studying or working without pausing the ambient sound.About our sounds:Water creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. The sounds provided by ASMR Sleep Recordings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a treatment for sleep disorders or tinnitus. Consult your doctor if you regularly have severe sleeping problems, experience fitful/restless sleep or feel tired during the day.ASMR Sleep Recordings is the white noise and nature sounds podcast to help you sleep, study or soothe a baby. ASMR Sleep Recordings has uploaded more than 400+ episodes in the 4 years that the podcast has been online. You can listen to all episodes of the podcast on your favorite podcast platform. We talk a lot about "good communication," but most of what people call good is actually just conflict avoidance. In this episode, we explore what emotionally mature communication really looks like — especially in the moments when it's hardest to stay steady. If you've ever left a conversation replaying it in your head, wishing you'd said less, or said it differently, this one is for you. We'll unpack the subtle shifts that build trust instead of tension — and why accountability is one of the strongest relational skills you can develop. Mature Communication Is not silence. It isn't people-pleasing. It's not walking on eggshells. Calm means regulated. It means your tone matches your truth. Without raising your voice. You can say: "That doesn't work for me. "I need more notice." "I'm not okay with that." Check Out this New Resource: Get Started Asking for What You Need! Send a textWhat happens when a benefits formula turns healing into a liability. We dig into the VA's now-paused plan to reduce disability pay when medication improves symptoms and explain why that logic clashes with the lived reality of trauma, pain, and long-term earning capacity. Framed as a “clarification,” the proposal sparked immediate backlash because veterans have seen this pattern before: fast budgets for war, slow debates for care.We explore the deeper issue at stake—a covenant, not a calculation. Disability compensation is not a reward for good performance on a medicated afternoon. It is a recognition that service can leave permanent marks, even when treatment helps you function in moments. From the Bonus Army to GI Bill inequities to the Walter Reed scandal, history shows how rhetoric often outpaces responsibility. Policies that penalize progress push veterans into a cruel choice: avoid healing to keep support. That is a moral failure and a policy trap.Along the way, we share clear language for understanding why medication management is not the same as restoration, how incentives shape behavior, and what “no-penalty healing” should look like in a just system. We also step back to talk mental health in an age of alarm—how to limit saturation news, reclaim agency through local action, and build embodied anchors like sleep, movement, sunlight, and real conversation. Calm isn't denial; it's disciplined presence that helps us think and care better. If you care about veteran rights, public ethics, and practical resilience, this conversation offers context, history, and tools. Listen, share with someone who needs it, and leave a review to help more people find the show. Has Britain entered a new ice age — or is it simply Tuesday in Cornwall? In this episode of Mark & Pete, we examine reports that Cardinham in Cornwall has experienced around 50 consecutive days of measurable rainfall, with nearby Liscombe on Exmoor also recording persistent winter deluges. Northern Ireland has likewise seen one of its wettest Januarys in recent memory. The wellies are weary. The umbrellas are questioning their calling. But what does it actually mean?We explore UK Met Office data, regional rainfall trends, and the difference between weather events and long-term climate patterns. Is this evidence of global cooling? Climate collapse? Or just Britain doing what Britain has historically done — namely, rain with commitment? We discuss:Cardinham and Liscombe rainfall recordsNorthern Ireland's unusually wet JanuaryThe science of winter precipitation in the UKClimate change vs short-term variabilityWhy human memory is spectacularly unreliable when it comes to weatherAlong the way, we ask a bigger cultural question: why do we turn meteorology into theology? Every storm becomes a sign. Every cold snap becomes a thesis. And every puddle becomes proof of something ideological. With Mark's original poetry and Pete's biblical reflection from Ecclesiastes, this episode offers calm commentary in a climate of overreaction.Because rivers have always run into the sea. And Britain has always been damp.Faith. Culture. Planning a hospital birth? An unmedicated birth? A water birth? Perhaps all three?! I'm sharing my CALM, positive water birth story with you today. I'm sharing everything, from the start of my labour and how I knew labour was starting, to one of the most powerful moments of my life - catching my own baby in the hospital's birth tub and meeting my baby for the first time. I used the principles of hypnobirthing, mindset, and listened to many empowering, positive birth stories (like this one!) to prepare. Listening to positive birth stories is SO helpful when you're expecting. It's one of those productive things you can do in pregnancy to prepare for birth, and show your mind what's really possible. I'm so grateful for the women who've gone before me and helped me see that positive birth experiences are not only possible - but were a possibility for me. And if it's possible for me, why not YOU?! In this episode I break down: My whole unfiltered birth story, from start to finish The mindset shifts that helped me most during labour And the single most powerful moment of my life that existed - up until that point. They talk candidly about online criticism, influencer skepticism, and why “trying things” only works when you introduce tools one at a time, track outcomes (HRV, sleep, glucose), and don't confuse information with wisdom. The through-line is simple: foundational health still matters, but intelligent experimentation can be powerful when it's paired with humility and real feedback loops. Then the conversation goes deep into two high-stakes areas people rarely discuss honestly: full-body MRI screening and biological dentistry. Renee shares her Prunuvo experience—how a possible kidney finding triggered weeks of stress and a cascade of follow-up imaging and specialist visits, raising the hard question of where early detection ends and false positives begin. From there, she opens up about a long dental arc that started with a traumatic accident at 16, eventually leading her to remove older titanium implants, manage bone loss and grafting, and transition to zirconia ceramic implants—not as fear-based medicine, but as a “reduce the burden” choice while she explores chronic fatigue, immune markers, and Episode Highlights [00:00] – Renee's Pranuvo full-body MRI experience and the 15mm kidney stone scare [16:02] – False positives, medical rabbit holes, and the emotional/financial cost of early detection [22:53] – Top health yardsticks: glucose markers, HRV, sleep tracking, and foundational labs [25:08] – CGMs, cortisol testing (Dutch & ELi Health), and why trends matter more than single data points [27:15] – Genetic testing, APOE4 status, and using DNA as a focus tool (DNA Company & SelfDecode) [51:37] – Renee's dental trauma story: accident, titanium implants, and root canal decisions [54:56] – Titanium implants, ANA positivity, chronic fatigue, and biocompatibility concerns [59:22] – Surgery recovery protocol: red light therapy, StemRegen, BPC-157 & TB-500 peptides [01:29:10] – Closing reflections and exosome therapy mention Links & Resources Learn more about Renee Belz → https://reneebelz.com/ Follow Renee on Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/reneebelz/ Listen to the Biohacker Babes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/renee-belz-lauren-sambataro/id1470189843 Get Silver Biotics: bit.ly/3JnxyDD — 30% off with Code: BEAUTIFULLYBROKEN Try CatchBio: https://catchbio.com — Code: BEAUTIFULLYBROKEN LightPathLED: https://lightpathled.pxf.io/c/3438432/2059835/25794 — Code: beautifullybroken StemRegen: stemregen.co/products/stemregen?_ef_transaction_id=&oid=1&affid=52 — Code: beautifullybroken CONNECT WITH FREDDIEWork with Me: https://www.beautifullybroken.world/biological-blueprintWebsite and Store: (http://www.beautifullybroken.world) Instagram: (https://www.instagram.com/freddie.kimmelYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@beautifullybrokenworld Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. In this solo episode, Travis Chappell breaks down one of the most underrated money-making skills in business and life: reaction management. Drawing inspiration from Stoic philosophy and real-world negotiation experience, Travis explains why staying calm under pressure can dramatically increase your income, improve your leadership, and protect your investments. From closing a $150,000 wire with a steady poker face to navigating market crashes without panic-selling, this episode explores how emotional control creates leverage—and how overreaction quietly costs you money. On this episode we talk about: Why calm is a trainable skill—not just a personality trait The Stoic principle of controlling your reaction, not external events How emotional leakage hurts you in negotiations The psychology behind signaling desperation (even accidentally) Why investors lose money by reacting instead of holding How to separate perception from reality in “good” or “bad” news Top 3 Takeaways Reaction management creates leverage. The less emotional data you give away, the stronger your negotiating position becomes. There are no inherently good or bad events—only perception. Your response determines the outcome more than the event itself. Calm compounds. Chaos compounds faster. Whether in investing, leadership, or relationships, steady decision-making wins long term. Notable Quotes “Calm is a skill, chaos is a choice.” “It's not a loss until you sell.” “Your reaction is not what makes information good or bad. What you do with it does.” “The calm people are the ones who win long term.” Connect with Travis Chappell: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/travischappell Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/travischappell Other: https://travischappell.com Travis Makes Money is made possible by High Level – the All-In-One Sales & Marketing Platform built for agencies, by an agency. Everyone talks about systems like they're the key to doing more. Scale your business. Get more done at home. Be more productive. But here's what no one is telling you about why you actually need good systems, whether you're running a business or managing a household...The real benefit isn't about capacity or growth. It's about calm. When you have solid systems in place, you get to step away without everything falling apart. You get to go on vacation and actually enjoy it. You stop being the bottleneck everyone depends on. And most importantly, you stop living in constant overwhelm. If you're already drowning in chaos, scaling that chaos just creates more chaos. But when you build systems that prioritize calm first, everything else becomes possible. In This Episode, I'll Cover:Why scaling chaos only creates more chaosThe real reason great systems matter more than efficiencyHow calm operations keep you from being the bottleneckWhat happens when you step away with systems in placeWhy harmony should be your goal before adding more to your plateResources Mentioned In The Episode:Get control of your LIFE with the TOP Program: www.thetopprogram.comGet control of your BUSINESS with TOP Operations: www.megansumrell.com/operations________________________________
In Episode 150, hosts Alyce and Laura celebrate* the 7th Avernersary of Force Toast (and The Mandalorian) but mostly Force Toast. Reminiscing on 7 years of watching and reading Star Wars, doing trivs and learning mad skills, like how to do Star Wars Celebration, how to podcast and how to not drink too much when podcasting. Important life lessons! What do Sam Elliott, sh-tty beer and football have in common? Star Wars at the Super Bowl! Mystifying, or just a small (expensive) part of a grander marketing plan? (article referenced) Speaking of Mando - we call him Mandu now - a new MandUlorian & Grogu trailer is here! Let's discuss! The article that sparked a million click bait parasites did not actually say what you think it said. Calm down. We did the math. Jon Favreau isn't going anywhere. Take that, click bait. Remember Rogue Squadron? The question of whether it will ever come to fruition remains… a question. (via Parade) RIP Admiral Piett actor Kenneth Colley. What do you do when the plan you trusted stops working—and the future suddenly feels uncertain? In this episode of Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, hosted by Sana, we talk about reinvention in its most human form: not a dramatic restart, but a quiet shift back toward what fits. This conversation is for anyone facing a career change, identity shift, burnout, or a moment where “the old way” no longer holds. Guest Serena Low shares a grounded way to move through fear, grief, and confusion—without rushing into the next plan—so you can rebuild trust, widen your options, and take one steady step at a time. About the Guest: Serena Low hosts The Quiet Warrior Podcast and shares insights on reinvention, uncertainty, and courage through lived experience. She speaks about leaving a long legal career and learning to trust a new path through curiosity, inner work, and action. Episode Chapters: 00:04:23 — When Plan A collapses, what's the first emotional wave? 00:08:24 — The biggest myth about “reinvention” that keeps people stuck 00:10:19 — Why motivation fades and self-judgment takes over 00:12:14 — The “should” voice vs. the part of you that needs rest 00:16:20 — Cultural conditioning, safety, and the fear of standing out 00:19:30 — The turning point: when regret becomes louder than fear 00:24:10 — No Plan B? Trust + self-responsibility + small daily actions Key Takeaways: Name the real emotion first (fear, grief, panic) before chasing solutions. Replace pressure with curiosity: widen your world before choosing your next move. Practice sitting with uncertainty instead of forcing instant clarity. Build “trust muscles” through inner work and practical action (reading, learning, conversations). Track small wins and kindness daily—your nervous system needs proof of safety. Reinvention is often only visible in hindsight; focus on the next honest step. In life and relationships... You say you want calm. But when things get quiet… You feel restless. Alert. Almost like something is about to go wrong. That isn't weakness. It's conditioning. In this Elevate Your Mind episode, Rebecca talks about why calm can feel uncomfortable — even when it's what you've been craving. If peace hasn't felt peaceful yet, this will make sense of it.

Some days I wake up convinced my business is falling apart. Then I check the numbers. And the panic disappears. Anxiety usually comes from not knowing your numbers. When you don't have data, your brain fills the gap with worst-case stories. But when you have numbers, you replace panic with information. This is the emotional payoff of everything I've taught you this month. The math isn't cold. The math is peace.
The Prince and Princess of Wales returned to the BAFTAs for the first time since 2023, stepping onto the red carpet at London's Royal Festival Hall amid the ongoing fallout from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest. As president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts since 2010, Prince William's presence was expected. What wasn't expected was a shout from the crowd: “Your Royal Highnesses, is the monarchy in peril?” The couple did not respond and continued inside, coordinated in burgundy tones — a deliberate image strategy, according to fashion designer Juan Avellaneda, who said such appearances are carefully crafted to project unity and stability. But beneath the composure, tension may have been visible. William admitted he hadn't watchedHamnet because he was “not in a calm state.” Jennie Bond in the iPaper described the remark as anything but accidental, writing that the heir “is seething with anger — and he wants you to know it.” Body language expert Judi James suggested subtle signs of strain, pointing to a lack of touch and what she described as William's self-soothing gestures on the carpet.Behind the scenes, sources told the Daily Mail that William is frustrated the scandal could linger into his own reign, calling it “a mess left by Andrew and the late Queen.” Catherine, by contrast, has remained publicly silent. The couple are said to be deeply concerned about the toll on King Charles, who is reportedly exhausted.William did, however, strike a solemn note elsewhere — paying tribute to Corporal Lucy Wilde, the 25-year-old army medic found dead in her barracks earlier this month, calling her warmth and compassion “unmistakable.”For now, the Waleses appear determined to carry on. But as one commentator noted, business-as-usual is increasingly difficult when every word is filtered through the prism of the Andrew crisis.Get episodes of Palace Intrigue by becommming a paid subscriber on Apple Podcasts.
