We also take time to honor a devastating loss to the video game industry. Vince Zampella — Battlefield franchise lead, Call of Duty co-creator, Respawn Entertainment founder, and one of the most influential figures in modern gaming — has tragically passed away. We reflect on his legendary career, from Medal of Honor and Call of Duty to Titanfall, Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi, and the record-breaking launch of Battlefield 6, and discuss the massive legacy he leaves behind. On the news front, Naughty Dog finds itself back in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. A new report reveals mandatory overtime (crunch) imposed on staff to complete a demo for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, reigniting conversations around workplace culture, missed deadlines, and sustainability inside PlayStation Studios. We discuss what this means for Naughty Dog, Sony, and the broader industry as crunch continues to clash with modern development values. Plus, we dive into: • Our full PlayStation Wrapped 2025 breakdown • Naughty Dog landing firmly on the “not nice” list this year • A look back at the highs, lows, and turning points of 2025 • Community reactions, reflections, and end-of-year takes This is a packed, emotional, and thoughtful send-off to 2025 — celebrating what went right, questioning what went wrong, and remembering one of gaming's true legends.

What does it take to market movies that shape culture—and to lead with integrity when the stakes are highest? In this Best Of Trailer Geeks & Teaser Gods episode, Corey Nathan revisits his powerful conversation with Dwight Caines, President of Domestic Marketing at Universal Pictures and one of the most respected voices in modern film marketing. One of our "best of's" since we brought this program back, this episode remains as relevant—and resonant—as ever. Dwight reflects on a career spanning Sony Pictures and Universal, working on iconic franchises including Spider-Man, James Bond, Oppenheimer, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. But this conversation goes far beyond campaigns and box office numbers. Dwight opens up about leadership, mentorship, diversity and inclusion, the responsibility of storytellers, and what it means to be a steady presence in moments of industry—and societal—turbulence. It's a masterclass in how great marketing starts with understanding people. Whether you're a trailer creative, studio exec, marketer, or emerging storyteller, this episode is a reminder that how you lead matters just as much as what you ship. Key Takeaways Story Starts With Audience Dwight explains why every campaign begins with a deep understanding of who the movie is for—and what emotional response it needs to evoke to get audiences off the couch and into theaters. From Data to Instinct With roots in market research, Dwight shares how the best campaigns balance data with gut, and why "research be damned" can sometimes be the bravest—and smartest—call. Digital Before It Was Cool As an early digital pioneer at Sony, Dwight recounts building online communities around films like Spider-Man long before digital marketing was standard practice. Leadership in Crisis Dwight reflects on moments when the industry—and the country—felt unsteady, and why authenticity, calm, and moral clarity are essential leadership traits. Mentorship & Representation From teaching at Syracuse and UCLA to shaping DEI initiatives at Universal and the Academy, Dwight makes the case that representation isn't performative—it's foundational to better work and better culture. Notable Quotes "If you see me running for the emergency exit, then trouble's coming. Otherwise, take it as a good sign." "Marketing is about evoking emotion. If you don't know what you want people to feel, the campaign won't land." "If you see it, you can be it. I didn't see myself in front of the classroom—so I decided to become that person." "Diversity isn't invitation. It's allowing people to show up authentically and be heard." Let's be honest: This whole Light of Motiram thing was shady from the get-go. A game that blatantly rips off Guerrilla's Horizon franchise, created by the publisher-and-developer combo that was later revealed to have unsuccessfully pitched Sony a Horizon spin-off beforehand? They call that 'dead to rights.' And now it's official, because Sony's lawsuit against Tencent over this facsimile has been dropped with prejudice, and the game has been delisted from Steam. That's a win for PlayStation, and an even bigger win for creativity in the AAA space. We discuss. Plus: Sucker Punch co-founder, long-time producer, and studio lead Brian Fleming is officially retiring from the team after 28 years, Bungie's Marathon is slated to come to PS5 in March, Hollow Knight: Silksong is getting a free nautical expansion in '26, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Should we expect devs to lean more deeply into attractive characters? Do we think "made using AI" warnings will appear on games at some point in the near future? Who's to blame for Highguard's tepid response at The Game Awards? Is it strange if a wheelchair-bound listener wants to proudly wear a Stand Down shirt? Having already decided to abandon official coverage of Season 5, the Nerds give their final verdict on Season 4 as PC Tunney is all too glad to see this series go by the wayside. What went wrong for the series this 4th season? Is it Liam Hemsworth's fault....or is there a much deeper problem with this series? A visit to the Trailer Park looks at a teaser trailer for Digger, the first official trailer for Jimmy, and our first official look at Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day, triggering a deep conversation that provided a rare crossover between Bandwagon Nerds and Unidentified History. Asia-Pacific markets kick off the week on a strong footing - and beneath the surface, capital is quietly rotating, power is concentrating, and old franchises are finding new life. In today’s Market View, we unpack Keppel REIT’s move beyond offices into retail, and whether investors are warming to that diversification even as Singapore offices remain core. We look stateside as Wall Street ends the week mixed, with Bank of America flagging Estée Lauder, UBS, and Bruker as 2026 plays - from consumer brands to precision instruments. It’s UP or DOWN time with Oracle stepping deeper into TikTok’s US future, ByteDance eyeing a staggering US$50 billion profit year, and Elon Musk securing a record-breaking Tesla pay package - which gets a DOWN for governance optics. We also touch on Sony’s US$450 million bet on the Peanuts franchise, why Snoopy still matters at 75, and what ValueMax’s legal tussle means for investor sentiment. All that plus a holiday-shortened week ahead, the Straits Times Index check-in, and a cinematic Last Word from Pandora as Avatar: Fire and Ash hits the global box office - hosted by Michelle Martin with Ryan Huang.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

[58:35] Robbie Rivera feat  Lizzie Curious- Departures (Cosmic Gate Remix) {Wake Your Mind}  The mixtape is still my favorite way to tell a story.  Many of you know my love for music. My podcast "Night Club Musical" is based off me mixing tunes to an imaginary Broadway Musical using the newest/latest "electronic" vocal tracks that try to tell a story.  "Developing Story" hits a little different.  It's a story as old as time. This is 15 loving and heartbreaking short stories told by amazing artists, but combined to tell a complete story using my vision.    Setting: Beginning with the early morning hours capturing the  tranquil and hopeful feeling of morning just before sunrise.  It's a new day full of potential.  Now you're stuck in the moment, remembering when love was new, and giving perspective to your memories and the lasting impact and experiences that new love gave us. I associate the beach with feeling carefree, laughter and love. That's why a lot of Carribbean sounds were chose for this mix.   I also used tracks with a bit of orchestral components for the dramatic effect- like swaying with the wind or going where the waves take you. It gives the overwhelming feelings of being in a passionate relationship and getting lost in the moment, where it makes it easy to be vulnerable- where you surrender your feelings hoping they see the real you, even if it means being exposed and screaming it from the mountaintop. You're on cruise control, but this is where the story takes a turn- think "The Last American Virgin" for those of us that are old enough to remember, but with a complete crescendo ending to the climax.  This mix was made over a one week time period between 3am- 5am.  I wanted to a have a clear mind so everyone could feel the beauty and soundscapes of electronic music and how it tells its Developing Story.

On this week's show DJ Briggs from Brightside Home Theater fills in for Braden who is away on business. We ask DJ to give us his opinion on using a large format TV as a replacement for a projector. We also read your emails and take a look at the week's news. News: LG will debut its first Micro RGB television at CES Local ABC, CBS, FOX, & NBC Stations Are Demanding Up to a 50% Price Hike for Cable TV Customers WBD board recommends rejection of Paramount's takeover bid Other: YouTube TV Wants to Unbundle the Cable Package That Streamers Were Meant to Kill in the First Place Tailwind Meross Garage Door Opener HT Guys Amazon List Swapping a projector for a 100" TV  Jon Taylor recently purchased a TCL 98QM7K (2025 model, QD-Mini LED QLED with Google TV) during Black Friday for $1,999.99 (50% off the $3,999.99 retail price). After using it for a couple of weeks in his basement home theater (replacing an older 82" Samsung and supplementing a projector setup), he shares highly positive impressions. Key Highlights: Size and Installation: The 98" screen is enormous and immersive. Delivery and installation (included from Best Buy) went smoothly, though modifications to basement stairs were needed to fit the massive box. Picture Quality: Exceptional deep blacks (best non-OLED he's seen, rivaling his old Panasonic plasma), vibrant colors, and strong contrast. Upscaling of lower-resolution content (720p/1080p from cable, Blu-ray, streaming) is excellent. 4K sources, including Ultra HD Blu-ray and YouTube, look stunning with minimal motion blur. Performance Across Sources: Built-in Google TV streaming: Clear and smooth. Roku Premier: Deep blacks and popping colors. Standout: Apple TV 4K shines brightest, leveraging Dolby Vision for an incredibly vivid, "popping" image—far superior to non-Dolby Vision devices on his previous Samsung. Gaming and Features: 144Hz refresh rate delivers outstanding performance with low motion lag. Fun feature: Displays four simultaneous 48" screens for NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube TV. Observations: Large size exposes weaknesses in poor cable signals (fixed by rerouting). He notes TCL (and Hisense) are seriously challenging premium brands (Samsung, LG, Sony) with high-end specs at budget prices, earning praise from reviewers like RTINGS.com. Jon historically preferred established brands for reliability but now sees TCL/Hisense as the new value leaders, similar to how Samsung/LG rose decades ago. He recommends checking out the latest high-end TCL models, especially for large sizes where premium brands were too expensive for him. He's also considering switching from Verizon Fios to a streaming TV service to cut costs. Overall, Jon is thrilled with the TV's performance and value, calling it a "force to be reckoned with."

We start with breaking corporate news as Warner Bros. Discovery is expected to reject Paramount's latest acquisition offer, choosing instead to move forward with its $82.7 billion Netflix deal. If finalized, Netflix would gain control of Warner Bros. Games, including massive IP like Mortal Kombat, DC, Harry Potter, and more. We discuss whether Netflix will license these franchises out—or finally go all-in on games—and what this could mean for the future of AAA development. Next, we look at alarming new data showing US hardware sales and physical game spending just hit their worst November in 30 years. Despite heavy Black Friday promotions, record-high console prices dragged sales down, even as PS5 emerged as the best-selling console for the month. We break down what this says about the future of physical games, hardware pricing, and consumer behavior. Then we tackle the ongoing AI controversy in game development, as Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke responds forcefully to backlash over AI usage following The Game Awards. Vincke makes it clear: artists are not being replaced. We discuss where AI fits responsibly in modern game development—and where players are drawing the line. The episode also covers Bungie's major Marathon update, including a March 2026 release date, revamped visuals, deeper PvE, hardcore gameplay shifts, solo playlists, expanded weapon mod systems, and new lore teases. After months of controversy, Bungie appears to be rebuilding trust—so we ask: Is Marathon finally back on track? And can it stand alongside competitors like Arc Raiders? Plus, listener questions and reactions on Bungie, PlayStation strategy, and shooter fatigue.
