The visit came just a few weeks after the historic military success on behalf of Israel and the U.S. against the Iranian regime. Following these stunning achievements, there has been talk of future normalization with certain Arab states and the potential for a hostage-ceasefire deal in the near future. Minister Dermer has been at the forefront of all these issues. In a conversation divided into two episodes, he and Dan discuss Israel's standing globally and in the Middle East after the war with Iran, the future of Gaza, the hostages, and where the country is heading internally. New Jersey, as everyone in UFO world is aware, was ground zero for a full-on flap involving what most witnesses reported as mysterious drones. What's noteworthy is that this same region was where residents panicked during Orson Welles's radio production of The War of the Worlds in 1938. It's also the area where there were two flaps in 1966, one in January and another in October, with the most dramatic reports centered around the Wanaque Reservoir. In this blog, we'll focus on the January flap. At that time, several different investigators arrived on the scene, and as a result, there are several different versions of what happened.Read more →Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/podcast-ufo--5922140/support.

The Redding Encampment, Connecticut's first State Archaeological Preserve, is located in Putnam Memorial State Park. Understanding of the Revolutionary War has emphasized the battles, maneuvers, and war meetings; but far more time was expended during the long periods of winter encampment. The winter months were a brutal test of individual fortitude, unifying command, and local support. In the journal Joseph Plumb Martin kept at the time, he wrote, “We arrived at Redding about Christmas or a little before and prepared to build huts for our winter quarters. And now came on the time again between grass and hay, that is, the winter campaign of starving.” Compared to Valley Forge or Morristown, the archaeological evidence supports the poor conditions described by Martin. The site remains intact and is a relatively unknown archaeological gem, administered by Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Our publisher Dr. Kathy Hermes chats with Ellery Leary, the official park historian of Putnam Memorial State Park and a member of the Friends & Neighbors of Putnam Memorial State Park in Redding, Connecticut. They studied history and art history, and they hold an MA in archaeology. They also served as a consultant on a National Park Service Battlefield Interpretation Grant obtained by Cris Radio to create an app with a downloadable audio tour for Putnam Park and a website that tells the stories of people of color at the Redding Encampment. We discuss the importance of Putnam Park as a historical site, the experiences of the soldiers and camp followers, and the efforts at historic preservation of the site. In this episode of The P.A.S. Report, Professor Nick Giordano exposes the escalating war on ICE and the coordinated left-wing effort to obstruct immigration enforcement. As ICE agents face violence, harassment, and even attempted murder, Democrats and media elites continue to fuel the fire by comparing law enforcement officers to Nazis and labeling detention centers as “concentration camps.” Nick dismantles the false narratives, reveals how child labor scandals tied to Democrat donors are being whitewashed, and shows how the same people who weaponized the federal government against parents and Catholics are now accusing Trump of authoritarianism for simply enforcing the law. Episode Highlights: Radical activists stalk, harass, and attempt to murder ICE agents while Democrats cheer from the sidelines Child migrant labor exposed on a California pot farm, but media calls it a “farm raid” The same party that weaponized government against parents now cries “fascism” when Trump enforces immigration law
The Trump administration has declared war on immigrants and poor people and is using immigration as a smokescreen to cover for Medicaid cuts in the so-called Big Beautiful Bill. Henchmen like Stephen Miller and Scott Bessent are promoting the false narrative that “illegal” immigrants are receiving Medicaid coverage and responsible for much of the fraud and abuse in the system. It’s a specious argument to distract from the fact that they’re cutting healthcare for millions of vulnerable Americans. Access the episode resources. Maps of New England during King Philip's War In May 1676 the tide of King Philip's War had turned against the Algonquians of southern New England, but the New English settlers didn't know it yet. They would soon. Suddenly, in a matter of a few weeks, the Algonquian resistance collapsed. This episode looks at that collapse through the eyes of Benjamin Church, whose men would finally catch and kill Metacom on August 12, 1676. Along the way, Church would persuade the Sakonnets, a Wampanoag group, to switch sides. They would teach him a new way of war, and Church would eventually be considered the "first American ranger," at least by people who haven't thought to give that credit to Nompash, the Sakonnet commander who taught Church. In this supplement to the Soviet-Afghan war series, we examine the experiences of both Soviet and Afghan women on either side of this conflict. Soviet women served in many roles, including military and civilian, and endured many of the same experiences of the men - though one group of Soviet women, the mothers, may have suffered the most. And Afghan women had it even worse, caught between the Soviet destruction and their own radicals in the Mujahideen, the promises and cruelties of two ideologies. What both groups of women shared was that their experiences were always different from those of the men. War, after all, has an unwomanly face.Sources & Maps: https://www.unknownsoldierspodcast.com/post/the-soviet-afghan-war-series-more-maps-and-sources-part-i-and-soviet-army-short-round
When I read the first chapter of Turning Toward Eden, I laughed so hard and enjoyed it so much that I immediately flipped back to the beginning and read it again. Listen in to see why. note: links may be affiliate links that provide me with a small commission at no extra expense to you. Cate Touryan has written a brilliant book that takes place in the early seventies on California's central coast. Amid family drama and the threat of local "commies," Eden is trying to figure out who she is and what life is all about. The whole thing feels like my childhood. I lived in the area, spent lots of time there, and man do I love it. There aren't enough books that take place in the late sixties and early seventies, but Cate has written a brilliant one to add to every reader's shelves. I'm not quite done, but I am loving the read. Turning Toward Eden by Cate Touryan “Chasing the truth, huh? Sure, you're not running from it?” Hollis might be her only friend, a lanky boy Mama calls her “beau,” but Eden Lewis has no time for his hogwash. She's got a mystery to crack. For most fourteen-year-olds, California summers in the early 1970s mean sun and surf, despite the Cold War chill. Not for Eden. Her AWOL father has sent her life into a tailspin, landing her in a shabby beach town, stuck caring for her severely disabled brother. Caught in her parents' own cold war, Eden ditches Dex at every chance—pier fishing with Hollis, playing poker with the grizzled card sharks, and caterwaulin' in the church choir, laying plain to the Almighty that singing terms ain't the same as speaking terms, what with the hand he's dealt her. Then Raven arrives mid-ninth grade—an elusive Soviet girl rumored to rain black-winged curses over the fearful town. When a rash of petty crimes escalates to bloodshed on the beach, suspicion falls on the “commie”—and then Eden. Desperate to prove herself innocent, and Raven guilty, she embarks on a reckless game of chase. But for the truth to set her free, she must risk Dex's life. Will she go all in, no matter the cost? An evocative story laced with mystery, Turning Toward Eden weaves nostalgia with grit, sorrow with humor, and despair with faith, offering hope to anyone who has sought to belong in a world that rarely plays fair. "This is storytelling at its most atmospheric—brimming with quirky, well-drawn characters, razor-sharp prose, and the kind of setting you can almost smell. The writing is lyrical, grounded, and often laugh-out-loud funny—even in the midst of deeply poignant moments. With a cast of endearing misfits and a tone reminiscent of Southern Gothic charm, this story lures you in from the very first line and doesn't let go. Cate Touryan has a truly original voice, a rare gift for language, and a special ability to render a world so vivid you feel baptized in it." — Zena Dell Lowe, Screenwriter, Story Coach, and Founder of The Storyteller's Mission Audiobook Coming Soon! The audiobook edition of Turning Toward Eden is in production and on its way to Audible, iTunes, and beyond. Stay tuned for a richly narrated experience, perfect for readers who love stories on the go. Learn more about Cate on her WEBSITE and follow her on GoodReads. Like to listen on the go? This week's sci-fi picks come from friend of the pod and frequent cohost Tim, who sent us straight into Cruise chaos with War of the Worlds and Oblivion. We dive into Spielberg's intense alien invasion vision, Dakota Fanning's elite scream acting, and the many ways Tom Cruise sprints through disaster. Then we shift to the sleek, lonely world of Oblivion, where Cruise plays a clone technician with memory issues, drone problems, and a suspiciously perfect life. Are these movies smarter than they seem? Do the twists hold up? And as always, are they better stoned? Tim insisted. We watched.
