During the Iraq War in 2003, U.S. Special Operations Forces rescued Pfc. Jessica Lynch from a hospital in Baghdad. It was the first successful rescue of an American prisoner of war since World War II, and the first-ever rescue of a woman. In this episode, you'll learn how a DIA team hid a camera in a gym bag to record video of the hospital's interior, which was used for the rescue mission. You'll also hear from former NBC News correspondent Kerry Sanders, whose camera crew was embedded with a Marine unit during the war and had exclusive access to stories, including knowledge of when the rescue attempt for Lynch would take place.

Throughout military history, the Army Rangers have been there in some of the most dramatic, most heroic combat events, like scaling the cliffs at Normandy Beach on D-Day. They were climbing right into the face of enemy fire. It's no surprise that the Rangers played a part, along with other Special Forces, in the rescue of that Iraqi prisoner of war years ago, Jessica Lynch, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. When you're fighting in the heat of battle, it's important to know that your comrades are going to go looking for you, no matter what. That's what happened then. That POW rescue was one example of a commitment that is expressed in the Army Ranger Creed; a commitment that's echoed in other branches of the military as well. Here's what the creed says: "I shall never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy." That's good stuff! I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Your Wounded Comrade." Fighting for the fallen ones - going after the captured ones. I wonder if that's how we operate as God's army? His army is His Church, and if you belong to Jesus, you're part of it. And on any given day, there's a fellow soldier around us who's been wounded or maybe has even been captured by the enemy. Are we ready to say, "I shall never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy"? There's a powerful picture of this kind of loyal commitment to one another in our word for today from the Word of God. Abram's nephew, Lot, is living in the city of Sodom where a multinational alliance is attacking the city. Genesis 14, beginning with verse 12, tells us "...they also carried off Abram's nephew Lot and his possessions. When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit." Abram and company engage the enemy, and the Bible tells us, "He brought back his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other people." By the way, the odds against those 318 were overwhelming. Abram dropped everything, he risked everything to rescue a loved one who had fallen into the hands of the enemy. That's an example for all of us. Maybe right now you know someone who's been spiritually wounded or is going through a deep valley right now. That's where Proverbs 17:17 kicks in: "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." In other words, when everyone else is walking out, we should be walking in. You may know someone who's really messed up, who's blown it, who's wandered away spiritually, maybe someone other believers are ignoring, marginalizing, condemning. Don't be one of them. They've never needed you more. You've got to go to them, however awkward, however difficult it may be. Show them the unconditional love of Jesus Christ. Let them feel it through you. As God gives opportunity, remind them of how good it felt when they were close to Jesus. Right now they know how lousy it feels to be away from Him. Remind them that the issue is never Christians, it's Jesus. It's not the church. It's Jesus! It's all about Jesus. And He is all about bringing them back, forgiving them and restoring them. God's instruction to His "Rangers" is, "If someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently." Look around the battlefield and you'll probably see a comrade, maybe even a family member, whom most people think of as the "problem child" or the "problem person" or the "prodigal." But Jesus sees, and I pray you will see a fallen comrade. And we shall never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of our enemy!

Season 4 Episode 8 Fisher House Foundation On this week's episode of Ruck Up Buttercup we had the opportunity to speak with Mary Considine, the Chief of Staff for the Fisher House Foundation. She has been with this amazing organization for 20 years and has seen them grow from only a handful of houses to being on their journey to building the 100th house hopefully later this year. Fisher House Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1990 that provides a home away from home for military families when they are having a medical situation. Located next to hospitals and Va's nationwide, they provide a free place to allow families to visit, and support each other during times of medical need. They also provide support to Gold Star families during that process. On top of their many houses, they also have other programs that help pay for flights, as well as hotels as the need may arise. As well as some really great scholarships for students as well as spouses to help support the future of families in the military community. If you find yourself with a little free time and are interested in serving others in the military community there are many volunteer opportunities you can look into at a Fisher House near you. My guest today has such a diverse skillset and resume that its almost hard to summarize. Andy Stumpf enlisted in the Navy while he was a Junior in high school, entering military service in 1996. After completing boot camp he went on to Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training, also known as BUD/s. After earning his trident he began his SEAL career attached to SEAL Team Five, in Coronado California. In 2002 he joined one of the most elite counterterrorism unit in the military, The Naval Surface Warfare Development Group (aka DEVGRU). While on a combat deployment, an Iraqi insurgent shot Andy in the hip at close range with an AK-47. Doctors told him it would be years, if ever, before he recovered the use of his leg and returned to full active duty. Four years later, after extensive work, Andy returned to the Naval Special Warfare Center as the Leading Petty Officer for 2nd Phase BUD/s training. While completing his two-year instructor tour, Andy submitted his package to become a commissioned officer. In 2008, he became the first E-6 selection commissioned through the Limited Duty Officer Program in the history of Naval Special Warfare. Upon commissioning, he joined SEAL Team Three and completed his final combat tour to Afghanistan. Throughout his 17-year career, Andy executed hundreds of combat operations throughout the world in support of the Global War on Terror including the hostage rescue of Jessica Lynch. He was medically retired in June of 2013. His awards and decorations include 5 Bronze Star Medals (Four with Valor), the Purple Heart, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, The Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal with Valor, Three Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medals, Two Combat Action Ribbons, and the Presidential Unit Citation. After retirement, Andy continues to support the SEAL community, and their families. In 2015 he set two World Records after jumping from 36,500 feet and flying over 18 miles in a wingsuit to raise 1 million Dollars for the Navy SEAL Foundation. Post military, his business experience includes managing corporate development, licensing, and charitable initiatives for a global fitness brand. He also founded a consulting firm dedicated to ensuring that the lessons learned from the Global War of Terror are utilized by business leaders as well as Federal, State, and local entities. Andy also hosts the fantastic Cleared Hot Podcast which has close to 20 Million views on YouTube.Contact InfoCleared Hot Podcast - https://www.clearedhotpodcast.com/Books RecommendedBoyd: The Fighter Pilot Who Changed the Art of War – Robert Coram - ISBN-13 : 978-0316796880About Face: The Odyssey of an American Warrior – Col. This is the conclusion of our conversation with Tom Flaherty about his time as an Army Ranger, military instructor and special operations helicopter pilot. We pick up as Tom recounts his part in the famous military operation that rescued young solider Jessica Lynch from an Iraqi hospital after she was taken prisoner of war as well as the subsequent retrieval of the remains of the American National Guard soldiers from her unit that were killed in Iraq so that no soldiers were left behind. Tom also fills us in on what led to his transition to instructor, then helicopter pilot and what was in store for him once he retired and came home to Iowa. Vulnerable, funny, and incredibly eye opening. This is Those Who Do: Army Ranger Part II w/ Tom Flaherty!

Welcome to episode 197 of the Grow Your Law Firm podcast, hosted by Ken Hardison. In this episode, Ken sits down with Michael Moebes, founding attorney at Moebes Law, to discuss how Michael has mastered referral partnerships. Michael Moebes, Esq. is the eponymous founding attorney at Moebes Law, LLC: a law practice dedicated to representing injured individuals. Specifically, Moebes Law specializes in workers' compensation, veterans disability, and personal injury claims. Has an accident ruined your life? You should probably give Michael Moebes a call. Michael began his professional career as a client representative with IBM before resigning to attend law school at Georgia State University in Atlanta. He spent three years representing employers and insurers at the insurance defense law firm of Drew, Eckl & Farnham in midtown Atlanta before joining the legal team at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for two years. These five years taught him how insurers evaluate injury claims in terms of validity and financial exposure in addition to teaching him about the nuances of practicing injury law throughout the great state of Georgia. In 2009, Michael started Moebes Law, LLC and has passionately represented the injured ever since. In fact, he has recovered millions of dollars and won countless medical procedures in the course of his representation of injured workers and veterans since starting his firm. He is active in the National Organization for Veterans Advocates, the Workers Injury Law and Advocacy Group, and numerous local and national bar organizations. He's a registered neutral by the Georgia Supreme Court as well. Michael has been named a “Rising Star” (before he was over 40) and then a “Super Lawyer” by the Georgia “Super Lawyers” organization multiple times, an honor given to 2.5% of attorneys in their practice field as voted upon by their peers. He has also been named among the “Legal Elite” by GeorgiaTrend magazine. He has lectured at the Georgia Trial Lawyers annual convention, the “Fundamentals of Law Practice” course at Georgia State University College of Law, and the “National Return to Work Week” radio show. In 2013, he was interviewed for the companion guide of “Solo By Choice,” a guide to starting one's own law firm. When not practicing law, Lieutenant Colonel Moebes served as a Medical Service Corps officer with the U.S. Air Force Reserves for 23 years before retiring in 2020. He deployed three times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom: twice to Balad Air Base, Iraq and once to Andrews AFB, Maryland. In the course of his decorated military service, he facilitated the aeromedical evacuation of thousands of wounded warriors, and he participated in the Jessica Lynch rescue mission in 2003. He was featured in cover story articles in the Daily Report newspaper after both Iraqi deployments. The three-part “Iraq Diary” article published in October 2003 won national recognition. When not serving his country or his clients, Michael enjoys traveling, writing, and time with his three young children, wife, and dog of questionable lineage. He and his family are active members at Buckhead Church and support several local charities, including Wellspring Living, the Sandy Springs Conservancy, and the Anti-Defamation League; he was selected to the Glass Leadership Institute for the ADL. PLEASE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE TO HELP GROW OUR SHOW!!!!! On this episode Devon and Joe discuss how fake and corrupt politics has become in America today. Highlights include the George Santos story, Jessica Lynch fake hero war story, Dan Crenshaw and people in Congress participating in insider trading, and of course the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Jessica Lynch was just a teenager when she enlisted in the United States Army. It was pre-9/11 when young Jessica signed on that dotted line. She and her family knew war was always a potential possibility, but didn't dwell on it.Then 9/11 came, and everything changed. Nineteen-y-ear-old Private First class Lynch deployed to Iraq and was captured by enemy forces. Eleven of her friends died as a result of the incident that led to her capture, while others were captured with her. On April 1, 2003, Jessica's dramatic rescue became national news. While Jessica struggled to heal from her significant injuries as well as process her grief and trauma, media outlets ran amuck with their headlines. One false story after another appeared, compounding Jessica's stress. Finally, when she was officially discharged from the military several months later, Jessica was free to tell her story publicly. Today, twenty years later, Jessica still tells her story, along with the story of her own growth and recovery. Her soft spoken, almost shy demeanor presents a stark contrast with the intensity and courage of her story. In this episode, Jessica shares some of her story with us, as well as lessons she has pulled from her experiences. Here are a few topics touched upon:How Jessica was capturedMilitary service as a teenagerSnippets of Jessica's experience as a POWWhat it's like to have your personal pain and struggles, become national newsInaccuracy of the media reports, and the impact that had on JessicaGriefPTSD and Survivor's GuiltRebuilding her lifeSpread the podcast and share with your friends! www.flexyourfreedompodcast.comFollow Barb Allen on InstagramSubscribe on YouTubeLearn About the Great American Syndicate
Even 10 years ago, Republicans ran on a simple platform: Vote For Us Or Al-Qaeda Will Kill You; Discount Terrorism And Your Career Is Over! Yet when we learned Monday night that under President Biden's direction, the architect of 9/11 and successor to Bin Laden had been killed, some Republicans MOCKED IT. The Democrats need to crush the Republicans on this and a dozen other controversies: look what Jon Stewart's public shaming did: the GOP just reversed itself and will support Health Insurance for Veterans exposed to Burn Pits. That's today's commentary. There's also news and sports and why if teams consider dealing stars like Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto, the Baseball Trade Deadline may be damaging the game itself. Worst Persons features Herschel Walker and Kim Guilfoyle, and in Things I Promised Not To Tell, it's the 43rd anniversary of one of the most shocking tragedies in sports history and I'll tell you what it was like to have to cover it on a 1000-station radio network on your 7th day on the job!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
A very happy 4th of July to everyone, as we celebrate by going behind the headlines of two of the most famous rescue missions in United States military history. The operations to save both US Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell and US Army Private First Class Jessica Lynch, both of which involved the Army Rangers. HBH is honored to welcome author, and the Army Ranger who was a part of both missions, Nicholas Moore.Nicholas was in the middle of his training at Ranger school on 9/11. As a result his career spans the most transformational period in the history of the US Army's legendary 75th Ranger Regiment. At the front lines of the Global War on Terror, Nicholas has been a part of the Rangers evolution from a support element, to Tier One special operations units such as Delta Force and SEAL Team Six, into a fully functional special operations unit in its own right. We highly recommend Nicholas Moore's book ‘Run to the Sound of the Guns: The True Story of an American Ranger at War in Afghanistan and Iraq'.
Host Tim K. sits down with former Navy SEAL Terry Houin at the Cienega Fort in Shafter, Texas at Cibolo Creek Ranch. Terry spent almost three decades with a good part of that as a member of a National Missions Force. Throughout his time in this elite unit, he found himself a part of integral missions, including the rescue of Jessica Lynch and Captain Phillips. On the podcast Terry speaks on his multiple combat deployments as a sniper, spending most of his life in Special Operations, the difficulties of transitioning out of the military, and rediscovering his sense of serving selflessly in a different capacity. To follow along with Houin's journey follow him on Instagram: @terry.houin and be sure to check out his entire project.

Riding Shotgun With Charlie #136 Lt Lou Lusk & Rick Capozzi Survival Mindset I met Lt Lou Lusk & Rick Capozzi at the Rod of Iron Freedom Festival in Greely, PA, this past fall. I was emceeing the event for one of the days and helping Amanda Suffecool (RSWC #009) with a concealed carry fashion show. In the VIP room, Stephen Willeford (RSWC #088) suggested that I grab Lt Lou and sit in the passenger's seat for a show. Lt Lou was with the team that rescued Jessica Lynch in Iraq in 2003. Lt Lou spent 29 years in service to our country, 14 active duty and 15 in the Pennsylvania Guard, including 7 tours since the Global War on Terrorism. He was part of Task Force 20 and much of the invasions and operations from the War in Iraq are covered in the book COBRA II by Michael Gordon & Bernard Trainor. Lt Lou talks about his time serving the country with much emotion, which is easy to see. Lt Lou refreshes us about the story of Jessica Lynch, how her battalion was captured, then killed and she was left for dead. She was captured and tortured and ended up in a hospital. Lt Lou's team went to bring her back. But they also re-patriotated 13 American soldier's bodies. One of the difficult things was to bring the bodies back during a 3 hour helicopter ride that didn't have body bags. His last tour was as a “BMD” pilot, a Big Mahogany Desk pilot. Lt Lou had a hard time with that as he liked to be with his men, leading from the front. Lt Lou shares some stories about meeting Richard Winters, from Easy Company, which the series Band of Brothers was based on. He and Richard talked about the differences between the generation now and the generation back then and the major differences in how the military goes from war back to civilian life. Major Winters said back then when they came back, it took time. The men had time to decompress and process the acts of war. Nowadays, they finish their battles and within12 hours they're back at home living civilian life. This is one of the issues that haunts many of our military. There isn't the decompression time to process everything that they experienced in war. They want to get home to their families and loved ones. This leads to much of the PTDS that they have, which also leads to suicide. Lt Lou shares some of his demons that he's dealt with after military life. He admits that there were 5 times when he should have died; four during battle and one at his own hands. But without the firing pin in his firearm, he was saved by God. This also explains the tattoo he has on his right arm and why he wears a ring on his right index (trigger) finger. Like many people who have faced death, Lt Lou has 2 special days each year. Rick gets a little time to talk about his business, Survival Mindset. They train everyday people to prepare for armed intruders. And how to respond to deal with a situation. Finally, how to survive a deadly situation. Survival Mindset does realtime drills with their clients, and they can include using several agencies including lifeflight. They work with clients on several levels of whatever their needs are of the people attending classes. Rick tells us some stories about people that have taken training with Survival Mindset and then ended up needing to use their training. I enjoy going back and rewatching shows. There's so much to learn about not just firearms, and not just that gun folks are the greatest folks or that we're everyday folks. But there are challenges in life, regardless of your career or path in life. And no matter who you are or where you are, there are people like Lt Lou and Rick that ‘have your 6'. Favorite quotes: “That night, also with Jessica Lynch, we re-patriaited 13 Ameican soldier's bodies that were buried in shallow graves.”“I don't know what to fix unless I know what's broken.” “It's going to be hard for you to be the one to tell people to do stuff and not do it.” “God has saved me 5 times. Four from an enemy, once from myself.” “When it comes to mental health injury, instead of being broken, you're more shattered.” Time stamps 00:00 Intro 00:50 Lt Lou Lusk & Rick Capozzi 01:57 Lt Lou's military experience 03:13 COBRA II book 05:50 Jessica Lynch rescue 08:43 Last tour as a “BMD” pilot 13:11 Meeting Richard Winters from A Band of Brothers 16:37 “Kept together” 18:41 The solution 21:00 IGY6 23:08 Major Winters 28:54 Mental health 33:02 Survival Mindset Survival Mindset https://survivalmindset.us/ Survivalmindset.org Survival Mindset Facebook https://www.facebook.com/SurvivalMindsetUS Second Amendment Foundation http://saf.org/ Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms https://www.ccrkba.org/ Please support the Riding Shotgun With Charlie sponsors and supporters. Dr. Jeff Cain has led an interesting military career to say the least, as both an Infantryman and a doctor, spanning from the period of the first Gulf War into the Global War on Terrorism. Dr. Cain began his career at West Point, choosing Infantry as his branch upon graduation. Following time with the Berlin Brigade in Germany during the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Cain made his way to 3rd Ranger Battalion where he would serve - along with time at Regimental Headquarters - until he made the decision to go to medical school through the Uniformed Services medical school program. Suffice to say, Cain's time serving in special operations left an indelible mark on him, so much so that his intent upon finishing medical school was to go back and serve as a doctor in SOF. Which is exactly what he did, becoming the 1st Ranger Battalion physician, and completing two OEF rotations and one OIF rotation with multiple JSOTFs. Cain even ended up serving as the lead medical planner for the Jessica Lynch rescue, going in with the recovery force and remaining on the ground to secure other remains during exfil. Today Dr. Cain still practices medicine while focusing on productive methods for treating post-traumatic stress, sustaining a valuable connection between medicine and the veteran and military communities. Domeij, 29, who was killed on his 14th deployment in Afghanistan on October 22, 2011. He was the Army’s first qualified Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) evaluator and his call sign was Tyrant 22. Kristoffer holds the ‘distinction’ of being the most deployed soldier in American history to be killed in action. Fearless in life and in combat, Domeij is remembered by friends and comrades as a consummate warrior and true professional. Col. Mark W. Odom, commander of the 75th Ranger Regiment, said Domeij was a veteran of hundreds of combat missions "whose ability to employ fire support platforms made him a game changer on the battlefield — an operator who in real terms had the value of an entire strike force on the battlefield." Lt. Col. David Hodne, his battalion commander, said "this was a Ranger you wanted at your side when the chips were down." ---- From Tom: Kris was one of the smartest dudes I ever met. The above bio doesn't even begin to establish to cool stuff he did. It leaves out countless missions he participated in, one specifically being the rescue of Jessica Lynch. Kris taught me many things, but specifically how to effectively communicate with air gunships. The things he taught me in 2004 would later save my life in 2006. The Special Operations Community lost a true and irreplaceable asset in 2011.

The Egg Bowl appears to be on as scheduled, but Ole Mis basketball is paused until December 7, forcing the cancellation of four games in the nonconference schedule. That plus a crazy Matt Corral story and a visit with Jessica Lynch of Visit Oxford to discuss all the local events available during the holiday season.

Chris Bemiss was an Army Ranger, who deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan a total of 5 times. He was involved with several high value missions, and was on the ground for the Jessica Lynch rescue! On that mission he lived the Rangers Creed to the fullest, and dug out the bodies of the other soldiers who were captured and killed with Jessica Lynch. He was injured on his last deployment which in the end led to being discharged. Along the way he battled with substance abuse and PTSD, and was involved in a horrific vehicle accident while under the influence. He broke his neck among other injuries and was paralyzed from the chest down. Chris continued to battle with PTSD from combat, and from his accident and injuries and eventually attempted suicide. He never gave up and fought back, and faced his demons and with the help of the Gallant Few org, he regained control of his life, ended his substance abuse issues and carries on honoring our men and women of the armed forces. His daily life consists of helping veterans AND civilians battling suicide and by being a shining light of someone who never gave up! He is still paralyzed and lives with chronic pain but focuses 100% on helping others and giving back! A true hero in my book!He has a documentary called "The Ranger" and it is available on Amazon Prime, YouTube and Netflix. He can be reached at bemiss@galantfew.org

My guest this week is Retired United States Marine Sergeant Major Justin LeHew. This episode is the first of two conversations with Sergeant Major (Ret) LeHew. The second one will be next week and also including the organization that he leads today. Sergeant Major (Ret) LeHew has been awarded the Navy Cross, The Bronze Star. He is also known as the Hero of Nasiriyah for his work taking part in the 507 Maintenance company's rescue operation, including Jessica Lynch in 2003. I quote: “Under constant enemy fire, he led the rescue team to the soldiers. With total disregard for his own welfare, he assisted the evacuation effort of four soldiers, two of whom were critically wounded,” LeHew’s Navy Cross citation reads. In 2010, Sergeant Major (Ret) LeHew was honored by the Marine Corps with an obstacle named in his honor at Parris Island, South Carolina, called LeHew’s Challenge. Every recruit, both male and female, hears from their drill instructors about the heroism displayed by then Gunnery Sergeant LeHew. It was a privilege to have this conversation with Sergeant Major (Ret) LeHew. We discuss topics such as: why he from a young age knew he wanted to serve in the Military, why the Marine Corps prepares you for any situation, what drives him, how our world and war is evolving today, why nothing new is under the sun, lessons learned about building a family with a demanding calling, why we’re all equal as human beings, and more. I hope you enjoyed this week’s episode. And, thank you to every person serving our country, protecting us, keeping us safe, and sacrificing your own life for our good. Everything you ever wanted to know about the 9/11 conspiracy theory in under 5 minutes. Sadly, with all of the overwhelming and irrefutable scientific evidence Proving that ALL 3 buildings on 9/11 were brought down by controlled demolition, and that No plane hit the Pentagon; it still seems that so many people don't question the official story. An official story that is absolutely preposterous on it's face, and grows increasingly absurd the more it is examined. Perhaps even more discouraging is knowing that the official lie is in textbooks and being taught in public schools (indoctrination centers). Ensuring the next generation of students are brainwashed into the United States's "righteousness".~ Audio and transcript credit: Corbett Report- http://www.corbettreport.com (website)- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7TvL4GlQyMBLlUsTrN_C4Q (YouTube channel)TRANSCRIPT: On the morning of September 11, 2001, 19 men armed with boxcutters directed by a man on dialysis in a cave fortress halfway around the world using a satellite phone and a laptop directed the most sophisticated penetration of the most heavily-defended airspace in the world, overpowering the passengers and the military combat-trained pilots on 4 commercial aircraft before flying those planes wildly off course for over an hour without being molested by a single fighter interceptor. These 19 hijackers, devout religious fundamentalists who liked to drink alcohol, snort cocaine, and live with pink-haired strippers, managed to knock down 3 buildings with 2 planes in New York, while in Washington a pilot who couldn’t handle a single engine Cessna was able to fly a 757 in an 8,000 foot descending 270 degree corskscrew turn to come exactly level with the ground, hitting the Pentagon in the budget analyst office where DoD staffers were working on the mystery of the 2.3 trillion dollars that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld had announced “missing” from the Pentagon’s coffers in a press conference the day before, on September 10, 2001.Luckily, the news anchors knew who did it within minutes, the pundits knew within hours, the Administration knew within the day, and the evidence literally fell into the FBI’s lap. But for some reason a bunch of crazy conspiracy theorists demanded an investigation into the greatest attack on American soil in history. The investigation was delayed, underfunded, set up to fail, a conflict of interest and a cover up from start to finish. It was based on testimony extracted through torture, the records of which were destroyed. It failed to mention the existence of WTC7, Able Danger, Ptech, Sibel Edmonds, OBL and the CIA, and the drills of hijacked aircraft being flown into buildings that were being simulated at the precise same time that those events were actually happening. It was lied to by the Pentagon, the CIA, the Bush Administration and as for Bush and Cheney…well, no one knows what they told it because they testified in secret, off the record, not under oath and behind closed doors. It didn’t bother to look at who funded the attacks because that question is of “little practical significance“. Still, the 9/11 Commission did brilliantly, answering all of the questions the public had (except most of the victims’ family members’ questions) and pinned blame on all the people responsible (although no one so much as lost their job), determining the attacks were “a failure of imagination” because “I don’t think anyone could envision flying airplanes into buildings ” except the Pentagon and FEMA and NORAD and the NRO.The DIA destroyed 2.5 TB of data on Able Danger, but that’s OK because it probably wasn’t important. The SEC destroyed their records on the investigation into the insider trading before the attacks, but that’s OK because destroying the records of the largest investigation in SEC history is just part of routine record keeping.NIST has classified the data that they used for their model of WTC7’s collapse, but that’s OK because knowing how they made their model of that collapse would “jeopardize public safety“.The FBI has argued that all material related to their investigation of 9/11 should be kept secret from the public, but that’s OK because the FBI probably has nothing to hide. This man never existed, nor is anything he had to say worthy of your attention, and if you say otherwise you are a paranoid conspiracy theorist and deserve to be shunned by all of humanity. Likewise him, him, him, and her. (and her and her and him).Osama Bin Laden lived in a cave fortress in the hills of Afghanistan, but somehow got away. Then he was hiding out in Tora Bora but somehow got away. Then he lived in Abottabad for years, taunting the most comprehensive intelligence dragnet employing the most sophisticated technology in the history of the world for 10 years, releasing video after video with complete impunity (and getting younger and younger as he did so), before finally being found in a daring SEAL team raid which wasn’t recorded on video, in which he didn’t resist or use his wife as a human shield, and in which these crack special forces operatives panicked and killed this unarmed man, supposedly the best source of intelligence about those dastardly terrorists on the planet. Then they dumped his body in the ocean before telling anyone about it. Then a couple dozen of that team’s members died in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. This is the story of 9/11, brought to you by the media which told you the hard truths about JFK and incubator babies and mobile production facilities and the rescue of Jessica Lynch. If you have any questions about this story…you are a batshit, paranoid, tinfoil, dog-abusing baby-hater and will be reviled by everyone. If you love your country and/or freedom, happiness, rainbows, rock and roll, puppy dogs, apple pie and your grandma, you will never ever express doubts about any part of this story to anyone. Ever. This has been a public service announcement by: the Friends of the FBI, CIA, NSA, DIA, SEC, MSM, White House, NIST, and the 9/11 Commission. Because Ignorance is Strength.

This week the ladies are doing a very special Memorial Day episode full of tales of heroism, honor, and wine that tastes like cat piss (don't worry, it's not the one they're drinking!) Over a GOOD bottle of Barefoot Green Apple Moscato, Kelley tells the story of Lori Piestewa, a member of the Hopi tribe who was attacked while serving in the Iraq War along with her best friend Jessica Lynch. Then, Emily talks about the Arlington Ladies, a group of volunteers who dedicate their time to ensuring no service member is buried alone in Arlington Cemetery. At the age of 19 Jessica Lynch joined the Army, and just over one year later she found herself staged for the invasion of Iraq. During the initial surge towards Baghdad, her unit became separated from their convoy, and found themselves in the town of Nasiriyah. Her smaller unit was ambushed, and she became the first American POW (Prisoner of War). As Jessica and her unit were staging for the invasion in Kuwait, my unit was in Saudi Arabia, doing the same thing. As the war began, we began working through our target deck, until actionable intelligence was received about her location. After a quick forward staging, planning, and limited rehearsal, we assaulted the hospital, and recovered her on 1 April 2003. It was the first successful of an American POW since WW2. Jessica was immediately taken to a higher level of medical care, and slowly began her journey home to the US via Germany. There has been much controversy over what happened during the events leading up to the rescue, and of the rescue itself. It is safe to say, in my opinion, that the military used the operation to serve their needs at the time. I had not spoken to her until this recording, and it was great to revisit the events of 15 years ago from both sides of the same coin.

Jessica Dawn Lynch (born April 26, 1983) is a former United States Army soldier who served in the 2003 invasion of Iraq by U.S. and allied forces. On March 23, 2003, Private First Class Lynch was serving as a unit supply specialist with the 507th Maintenance Company when her convoy was ambushed by Iraqi forces during the Battle of Nasiriyah. Lynch was seriously injured. Her subsequent recovery by U.S. Special Operations Forces on April 1, 2003 received considerable media coverage; it was the first successful rescue of an American prisoner of war since World War II and the first ever of a woman. Initial official reports on Lynch's capture and rescue in Iraq were incorrect. On April 24, 2007, she testified in front of Congress that she had never fired her weapon (her M16 rifle having jammed), and that she had been knocked unconscious when her vehicle crashed.[1] Lynch has been outspoken in her criticism of the original stories reported regarding her combat experience. When asked about her heroine status, she stated "That wasn't me. I'm not about to take credit for something I didn't do... I'm just a survivor."

Bruce McQuain from Blackfive joined us once again for Someone You Should Know, our weekly tribute to the troops. Bruce spent 28 years in the U.S. Army and he is a veteran of the Vietnam war. He brings a perspective and understanding to these stories that we could never match. This week Bruce told us about Army Sgt. Donald Ralph Walters. From the AP, "A year after he was buried, the Army honored Sgt. Donald Walters on Monday with the Silver Star for the actions in Iraq that cost him his life. Walters, 33, formerly of Kansas City, Mo., received the commendation posthumously during a ceremony at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, where he is buried. Walters was a member of the 507th Maintenance Company from Fort Bliss, Texas, that was ambushed in southern Iraq on March 23, 2003. Lt. Gen. William S. Wallace, who served in Iraq as the commanding general of the Army’s V Corps, presented the Silver Star to Walters’ widow, Stacie, and his mother, Arlene Walters, who has sought a better accounting of her son’s death to reflect his actions. In the ambush, which occurred just days after the start of the war, 11 soldiers were killed and six captured, including Pfc. Jessica Lynch, who was initially credited with putting up a fierce fight during the battle. Lynch has said she did not fire a shot during the ambush. Lynch was later rescued from an Iraqi hospital. “The exact events during the ambush in Nasariyah will never be completely known but to God and by those who perished in the struggle,” Wallace said. Walters, of Salem, Ore., had initially been awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Autopsy reports indicate he died of gunshot and two stab wounds to the abdomen. Wallace said Walters displayed a courage that reflected his gallantry to serve his country and fellow soldiers caught in the ambush. His mother and U.S. Rep. Darlene Hooley, D-Ore., have sought an Army investigation to correct earlier reports that credited Lynch with holding off Iraqi troops. Walters, a veteran of the 1991 Persian Gulf War, is also survived by three daughters." The Someone You Should Know radio collaboration began as an extension of Matt Burden’s series at Blackfive.
