Projjal founded OnLoop in 2020 to create a category called Collaborative Team Development (CTD) to fundamentally reinvent how hybrid teams are assessed and developed. This was after over a decade of frustration with clunky, traditional enterprise performance management and learning processes and tools that were either hated or ignored by his teams at companies like Uber and Accenture where he spent many years. He is now dedicated to his lifelong mission of unleashing the full potential of the world's 1 billion knowledge workers.Prior to founding OnLoop, Projjal spent three and a half years at Uber in a variety of roles including leading Strategy & Operations for Business Development globally, leading Strategy & Planning for the APAC rides business, and GM of the Philippines rides business. Besides Uber, he also spent some time raising debt and equity from New York hedge funds for an industrials conglomerate (Essar), in strategy consulting in South East Asia (Accenture), and in early-stage companies in Latin America (BlueKite, El Market) before that. Somewhere along the way he spent 2 years at Stanford (GSB), getting an MBA. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Projjal Ghatak discuss:Collaborative team developmentHow Onloop's platform collects significantly more disparate data points to get a full understanding of an employeeThe importance of having good dataBalancing technology with face-to-face feedback Key Takeaways:Efforts to analyze and develop hybrid teams will be more forward-looking through collaborative team development than performance management, which focuses on the backward process.Unlike other platforms, Onloop's platforms don't prescribe how bonuses should be decided for individuals; what they recommend is how much data should be collected at the end of a quarter and semester, and how to use that data to analyze someone's achievements across targets, projects, and skills. You cannot measure the amount of money you are investing in developing the same way a hedge fund does if you think of people as assets. We can do a lot more to ensure that the right capital is being used in the right place, but that starts with a foundation of good data.Generative AI makes writing good feedback easier, but there is a different quality of relationship that happens when we sit down and have a live conversation. It's really all about the conversation. "In this hybrid world, we have to fundamentally shift how we think about performance, and then how do we measure performance on an ongoing basis.” —  Projjal Ghatak  Connect with Projjal Ghatak:  Website: https://www.onloop.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/pgonloop/ Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370  Show notes by Podcastologist: Angelica Rayco Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Today they're valued at over a billion dollars — what exactly is operations in a startup and why the perceptions can be wrong, using the vision to values framework to set team and company vision, how to strategise pricing for a global product launch, sequencing ambition and impact in a fast growing company, world class investor relations and successful off boarding and on boarding. And that's not all — Michael has decided to go back to early stage company building, joining Flo (that's Fl0) — the platform that empowers back end engineers to deploy code, and how he's using his link tree experiences to see around corners, especially being the first non engineer hire. It's now time to explore your curiosity. In this special episode of Deal Talk with 7MA, Partner Tripp Davis leads a discussion on navigating M&A as a business owner or operator. For the panel discussion, which was part of 7MA's ACCESS Conference 2021, Tripp is joined by David Lewis, Founder and CEO of DemandGen (https://www.7mileadvisors.com/transaction/demandgen-acquired-by-bdo/ (acquired by BDO)) and Partner at BDO Digital; Andy Fay, Chief Revenue Officer of Innovasource (https://www.7mileadvisors.com/transaction/green-global-holdings-llc-acquired-by-3b-market-cap-publicly-traded-multinational-cpg-company/ (acquired by Energizer)); and George Young, Founder, CEO, and now Managing Director of Kalypso (https://www.7mileadvisors.com/transaction/kalypso-acquired-by-rockwell-automation/ (acquired by Rockwell Automation)). This panel of sellers have all navigated successful exits — some in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this episode they're sharing first-hand lessons from their own experience in M&A and first-hand insights from the process. The panel touches on all aspects of the M&A deal process — finding the right partners, working with a trusted advisor, navigating the emotions, and preparing your team once an acquisition goes through. “I didn't go into the process expecting whether we would go down the private equity route or the strategic route. I really was open to both,” David says of getting acquired. “At least I thought I was; you really do some soul searching when you have people at the table.” He continues: “When we had 22 offers, the majority of them were private equity, and there were about five strategic offers. And what made sense was it was very clear that I wanted a platform for the business that would catapult our growth.” When discussing the sale of his consulting firm to Rockwell Automation, George admits being a little “naive” and “narrowly focused” early in the process. He shares how working with 7MA paved the way for a different kind of exit: “I think one of the things that you (7MA) helped us do was not go exclusive. Let's keep this thing open. Let's create the market.” Tune in to the episode to learn more about the acquisition process directly from business owners.

Digital out-of-home is powering massive east coast growth for WA-based health insurer HBF following a series of campaigns that include JCDecaux's digital assets. “Our national growth is at plus 55 per cent… [but] 84 per cent increase year-on-year on the east coast,” Head of Marketing Louise Ardagh says. The programmatic out-of-home (pDOOH) sector is starting to motor, says JCDecaux ANZ CEO Steve O'Connor. The firm will make five per cent of digital revenue from programmatic this year and aims to triple that by 2023. A quarter of Australian media agencies have tried programmatic OOH this year alone – and it's on the cusp of hockey stick growth, per the IAB. “It's not just experimentation, it's embedded into their plans for the next couple of years,” says IAB CEO Gai Le Roy. JCDecaux Executive GM of Revenue and Strategy Operations, Cassandra Cameron, says value and speed are key factors in moving the needle: “We've been able to get campaigns live in as little as two hours from briefing.” See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Rob Lawless is originally from Norristown, PA and he enjoys meeting new people. Back in May of 2013, he graduated summa cum laude from Penn State University with a degree in Finance and minors in Accounting & Entrepreneurship. After graduation, he began his career with Deloitte Consulting as a Business Analyst in Strategy & Operations. It was his reach job at the time, but about 1.5 years into it, he pulled a Millennial move – he took a large pay cut and left the Powerpoint decks and spreadsheets for the laid back, $24 million venture-funded RJMetrics. While at RJ, Lawless worked as a sales rep where he cold emailed people every day asking them to hop on the phone for 30 mins to chat about their product. And his job being sales, he often received responses like these actual replies: “Take me off your mailing list, cockroach” “I understand that this is your job. This being said. If asking a girl out for coffee and she ignores you twice and finally says no, you do NOT ask whether this is a no just now or a now forever – and you certainly do not ask her why you are not her type”  “Not interested (and you’re really starting to annoy me)” He started the project of meeting 10,000 people to see if he could meet with people to chat for an hour for absolutely no reason and held his first meeting on November 11, 2015. He was rejected way less, the responses were all positive and encouraging, and he's met amazing people with incredible backgrounds who would all consider themselves normal. On Monday, June 20, 2016, RJMetrics was acquired by a larger company, which didn’t require my position, so he dove in full-time on his endeavor to meet 10,000 different people for an hour each. Since then, he's met over 3,000 people across 20+ cities in the U.S. & Canada, has driven across the United States six separate times. Two months ago I picked up Mark in New Haven near Yale, I hit him with my standard opening line "Looks like we're heading to New Jersey?" to which Mark said: "Huh, wait what? We're not going to Jersey".  That line is usually met with surprise, because no one likes going to Jersey.  After the shock wore off, we continued chatting and I shared my desire to travel across the country and do a mini documentary in my Mini Cooper.  That's when Mark told me about his friend Rob's "Crazy" project and I knew instantly, I wanted to have him on the Podcast, because he's my brand of "crazy"  Rob is originally from Norristown, he spent some time in Philly now he lives in Long Beach California.  Rob graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Finance and minors in Accounting & Entrepreneurship. After graduation, he began his career with Deloitte Consulting as a Business Analyst in Strategy & Operations.  He took a huge pay cut and started working at a tech start-up.  Somewhere along the he began to have a longing for genuine human connection, so he set this audacious goal of meeting 10,000 1:1 for an hour. "I started this project to see if I could meet with people to chat for an hour for absolutely no reason and held my first meeting on November 11, 2015." On Monday, June 20, 2016,  he was told he wouldn’t have a job, the tech start-up was acquired by a larger company, which didn’t require his position. "I dove in full-time on my endeavor to meet 10,000 different people for an hour each.  I love adventure and I love potential – I think this project has both so I’ve been greatly satisfied with how it’s gone so far and can’t wait to continue giving it 110% to see where it goes!" Sharing Albertoís four principles of life purpose, awareness, faith, life mission in ìDraw Your Circleî the message is simple: "We get what we project in our minds. We materialize what we believe...î The simplest life-changing book you will ever read, dummy proof, guaranteed to work if you care to take only 30 days out of your life and apply its principles. I’m 25 years old, originally from Norristown, now live in Philadelphia, and I enjoy meeting new people. Three years ago, I graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Finance and minors in Accounting & Entrepreneurship. After graduation, I began my career with Deloitte Consulting as a Business Analyst in Strategy & Operations. It was my reach job at the time, but about 1.5 years into it, I pulled a Millennial move – I took a large pay cut and left the Powerpoint decks and spreadsheets for the laid back, $24 million venture-funded RJMetrics. While at RJ, I worked as a sales rep where I cold emailed people every day asking them to hop on the phone for 30 mins to chat about our product. And my job being sales, I often received responses like these actual replies (s/o to all my reps still in the game): “Take me off your mailing list, cockroach” “I understand that this is your job. This being said. If asking a girl out for coffee and she ignores you twice and finally says no, you do NOT ask whether this is a no just now or a now forever – and you certainly do not ask her why you are not her type” (Disclaimer: never used this strategy on girls) “Not interested (and you’re really starting to annoy me)” If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe to the podcast. Whether you’re an emerging label or a behemoth like H&M, the name of the fashion game today is sustainability. Consumers increasingly demand to know who made their clothes, and they want to ensure the materials involved are not only high-performing but also ethically sourced and sustainable. Customer desires aside, there’s also an environmental argument for disrupting the fashion industry, which is known to be the second most polluting industry in the world next to oil and gas, responsible for 6 to 8% of carbon emissions globally. Less considered (and often underrated) is the business argument for sustainable fashion. Can going green equal bringing in green, too? In this week’s episode of the Electric Runway podcast, we take you inside a recent and fascinating pitch competition that took place in Toronto Canada. Organized by Stacey Fruitman of SWS Ventures, the competition championed textile innovation in Canada and beyond. Entrepreneurs and startups from all over the country were invited to apply online. Four were selected to pitch to a panel of judges for the chance to receive $10,000 in funding. The event was organized in collaboration with the MaRS Catalyst Fund and the George Brown Fashion Exchange. Fashion Futurist Amanda Cosco had the opportunity to moderate the panel that opened the event, which tackled topics such as the circular economy, water waste, advanced manufacturing, and more. We also had the opportunity to interview a number of experts and participants to learn more about their companies and how they’re working to make fashion a more sustainable industry. The term millennial gets a bad rap these days. Millennials are thought to be entitled, lazy, self-serving, wasteful, but here’s the thing, let’s be honest: those types of people exist in every generation, ever. That is not a new trait that’s unique to the millennial generation. In fact, the more I learn from and speak with people in the millennial generation, the more I’m finding the opposite to be the case. Millennials care about their impact, millennials want to buck the status quo, and rally for change, and improve their communities, and be active and involved in the process. They are do-ers, they’re the next generation, and it’s time that we start partnering with them to make stuff happen. But interestingly enough, some of our cultures most iconic brands and companies have zero clue how to interact with, or market to millennials. When it comes to millennials, they are out of touch. My guest today saw an opportunity to fix that. Alexandra Douwes is the founder of Purpose Generation, a millennial strategy and insights company, that helps large iconic brands better understand and engage the next generation of consumers and talent. This is one of the most unique companies I’ve ever had on the show, and I loved, loved, loved everything about this conversation. I wanted to let you know that there is something we talk about in the show that Alexandra is launching next month, and we have a unique coupon code and opportunity for you to participate in it. ON THE IMPACT OF MILLENNIALS The importance of researching the consumer trends of millennials is really vital for businesses in the modern age. On top of this, really understanding the fact that millennials are searching for deeper meaning in their everyday, from their work, to their purchases, this sets the trend for companies to implement meaning and impact into their business models. ON FINDING PURPOSE Wouldn’t it be incredible, at 24 or 25, to have a clear map of your passions and aspirations, that can then lead you in your life direction? Alexandra talks about the concept behind The Purpose Playbook, a collection of resources, content, and inspiration to help millennials live on purpose. SCALING IMPACT Sometimes making true impact requires both a mental and physical shift. Beginning to invest in making a difference at a younger age has proven the millennial generation to have a leg up on impact, allowing them to be the perfect consumer market to educate businesses on how to follow suit. About Alexandra Douwes, Founder of Purpose Generation: Alexandra is the cofounder of Purpose Generation and Purpose Playbook, two companies committed to discovering the "why" behind people and businesses. Purpose Generation is a millennial insights and strategy firm that helps iconic brands better understand and engage the next generation of consumers and talent. In her role as Head of Strategy & Operations, she helps the old guard navigate a new world of on-demand technologies, innovative work environments, triple bottom lines, portfolio careers and fostering intrapreneurship.
