Ryan Clark, founder and President of Qube Money, entered the financial services industry, first in the real estate market, then as a mortgage broker, before realizing that his true passion was teaching people about money. In his ten years as a financial planner, Ryan watched his clients fail at budgeting repeatedly despite his recommendations and wanted to find a solution to help them manage their money successfully. This inspired him to create a digital cash envelope system, and he launched Qube Money to provide better tools, systems, and training to clients, to allow them to work toward real financial freedom.Ryan joins me today to dive into why he developed Qube Money in response to his frustration over not finding something that suited him and his clients and enabled them to exercise real-time control over their finances. Ryan also shares the number one reason people hate budgeting and explains how Qube can cut the time you spend managing your finances. “Everything that you want to do in life stems from how you control the resources that you’re given - and money is a resource. Today, I'm joined by Ryan Moran, who is the author of a new book, Twelve Months to One Million and the founder of Capitalism.com, where he teaches entrepreneurs to build businesses and invest their profits. He is best known for his work helping over 300 entrepreneurs build seven-figure companies. "I think very strategically, my two favorite board games are Risk and Monopoly." Although he had a plan and strategy to release his book, the pandemic shut the world down, and Ryan had to rethink his game plan. When planning his book, Ryan had difficulty thinking about what he should write and how he should write his book. Talking with his future agent, Ryan quickly figured out his topic. He needed to narrow his focus from giving many details to bringing the reader from point A to point B as efficiently as possible. "One of the things that worked best is that I gave my editor permission to edit me ruthlessly." He also gives his video editors this permission as he wants his content to make sense and be valuable to the listener. "Having that permission to take what I say is not so sacred, and to have a lot of words get deleted, made the book better. It didn't make my ego happy, but it made the book much better." Ryan talks about the launch's focus, which is to have your book sell more copies one year from the date of publication than it did when you launched your book. "Right now, my sales are more than double right now than when we launched." He talks about the importance of "going all-in" on every positive review you get, when you land and sell a customer, how to leverage your relationships to market your book, and how he changed his plans for a speaking tour when COVID hit. Listen in to find out how to get over a hundred book reviews, book marketing pivots that worked during the pandemic, how to land audiobook sales, and how to strategically plan your book marketing. The time maxillofacial and oral surgeons spend in residency is invaluable, but sometimes what you learn in practice can be just as beneficial. This sentiment is echoed by Dr. Ryan Sheppard, today’s guest, who is on the show to talk about platelet therapy and internal sinus lifting techniques. We open the episode by taking a look at Ryan’s history in surgery, the influences of having a surgeon for a father, as well as how being trained in Texas and Chicago gave Ryan unique perspectives on surgery. Turning toward the present day, Ryan tells us about the changes he’s made to his surgery, touching on the use of ketamine during procedures and why he prefers his patients to be light on drugs rather than being on a heavy dose. On the topic of dosage, Ryan shares how a patient’s own drug habits can affect how he approaches their anesthesia. As our conversation progresses, we cover the highlight of the show as Ryan dives into his PRF technique, how it aids healing, and why dry sockets are less likely to occur from his method. He goes on to explain other techniques, including his Sticky Bone technique, which uses platelets and bone grafting. After hearing why Sticky Bone keeps the bone as a unit and why it’s easier to pack, we delight in some humor and hear a couple of Ryan’s Texas-isms. Gary and guest co-host Christopher Hummel chat in this episode with good friend Ryan Carr, an investor since 2012 and investor coach who has evolved big time since Gary first interviewed him. Ryan always has about 7 or 8 projects going on at any one time, including being in the middle of authoring a new book called, “The Best & Highest Use Playbook”. Ryan understands the market like few do, and knows where to find great opportunities. Ryan is focusing right now on flips, wholesaling and new development. Gary and Ryan also discussed the “Napkin Formula”, a technique to quickly analyze a deal very quickly to determine if you’ll have a gain or a loss with any property. Too many beginning investors do not know the numbers, and either fail or get lucky with return on investments, so TUNE IN to learn about this quick and indispensable tool! What you'll learn: How his upbringing played into his career choice, as his dad was entrepreneurial Money was NOT a topic of conversation growing up, and knew how hard his parents worked NOW money is a topic with his parents, and they are curious about his real estate investing A long discussion of the ‘victim card’ and now it relates to real estate investing Ryan says the ‘victim card’ is desire, not about how much money, or time - “if they don’t have the time, they are really saying they don’t have the desire” If you have time to watch Netflix or sleep in - your 9 to 5 is what starts making your income, but your 5-9 is what will get you ahead - what book are you reading, what extra shift are you taking, what business are you researching, WHAT are you doing with that time? Facebook is a HUGE time suck - just absorbing other’s content - you HAVE to put out your own! Ryan’s take on the market - stick with what you know Why Ryan believes a downturn in the market shakes out all the people not in it for the right reasons, and why it creates buying opportunities The difference between rural and city/suburban markets Why the higher end homes may be affected if the market shifts If there is a hiccup or dip in the market, government stimulus will likely prop the market up - the government doesn’t want homes Why real estate is the safest place to hold money, even during a crisis or pandemic Why supply and demand is in full effect now How he manages multiple projects at the same time, and what he does if he overbuys How he left his 9-5, and what he was doing with HIS 5-9 every night How his book “The Highest & Best Use Playbook” helps him determine the best use of the land, structure and the best use of his skills Keep the house or take it down? If he keeps it, rent or flip? If renting, renovating or keep it bare bones. 2. If the house is taken down, what is the best use of the land. 3. Does he have the skills to pull this off? Where is he finding the time to write a book?! Why real estate investing, buy and hold, is like buying your own ATM that never runs out of money What are the criteria Ryan uses to help people determine when to leave their full time job to become full time investor, when it costs you money to work And MORE! Ryan’s Bio Ryan Carr is a full-time real estate investor from the Greater Toronto Area.  He specializes in finding the highest and best use of real property, and coaching other to do the same.  Ryan has been known in the past for his knack at finding “hidden opportunity”, and is also a regular contributor to Canadian Real Estate Wealth Magazine. Ask helps readers avoid the single biggest mistake when starting a business and guides readers to answer the important question of what type of business they should start. Ryan believes everyone should write a book. “If you can convince someone to read a book, they are investing hours of their life. You can convey your beliefs and ideas.” Books are one of the few ways you can personally relay your message and advertise in one medium. “You own physical shelf space with a book, which is the best advertising medium in the world.” Looking to get people from Amazon or Barnes and Noble to your email list? Ryan recommends using a quiz funnel. By creating a short quiz related to the content in your book, your potential client can use the quiz results and outcome as a path to purchasing your upsell that is offered. “I see this as a universal strategy that any non-fiction writer can incorporate into your book.” Two main funnels attract different types of buyers: people who are aware of your brand and the potential customers unfamiliar with your brand. Using your mindset to grow and succeed in life.  Joining me on the show today is Ryan Gottfredson.Ryan is a cutting edge leadership development consultant, author, trainer and professor at the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics. He’s also the author of the bestselling self-help book, Success Mindset - The key to unlocking success in your life, work and leadership.  Ryan’s Journey.Ryan wasn’t always positive and success-driven like he currently is. He’s had to struggle through various life obstacles to be the mindset junkie he is today.  Like so many people, Ryan thought that the way he saw the world was the best way to see it. To improve himself and his life trajectory, Ryan decided to pursue a PhD in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource at Indiana University and specialized in leadership. In his studies. Ryan noticed that the primary focus of developing people and leaders is behaviour. As amazing as this discovery was, he deemed it short-sighted. Because to him, there are people who do the right things, but for the wrong reasons. Thus, what really matters is what underlies the behaviour we do, and not the behaviour itself. And for Ryan, this underlying factor was mindset. The Success Mindset.Ryan identified that there’s a common set of mindset frameworks that are applied across the disciplines of Psychology, Education management, and Marketing. He’s compiled these mindsets into one framework which he uses to help individuals awaken their mindset based on their unique character and behaviour.  Mindset has 3 specific jobs in our lives. Filter in the select information from our new experiences and situations. Interpret this new information in unique waysActivate our different elements e.g personality, skills, values, goals etc to best meet the demands of the current situation we’re in. And so, it’s because of their mindset that two different people can experience a similar situation, but respond differently to it.  People with a growth mindset will see obstacles as an opportunity to learn and grow, whilst individuals with a fixed mindset see similar situations as failures and try to avoid them in any way possible. How Ryan helps people. In his workshop seminars, Ryan helps individuals improve their ability to look at something they would otherwise look through. The reason people look through situations is that they think their mindset is the best way to look at things. By helping such individuals step outside themselves and look through different mindsets, Ryan helps them deepen their awareness, and improve their mindfulness and emotional intelligence. This further builds the individuals into being more agile, which improves their ability to navigate challenging and complex situations.  Timestamps01:15 Ryan’s Backstory 02:54 Leveraging on the power of belief and mindset7:00 Being productive through mindset fixing08:47 Why Ryan decided to focus on mindset10:42 Ryan’s researched backed Framework on mindset12:37 How Ryan experienced growth after changing his mindset. 17:32 Helping teams remove blocks to improve mindset20:03 Ryan’s advice in the current pandemic.  Quotes. Leadership and entrepreneurial effectiveness are more than just doing certain things. It's about being a certain type of person. Our mindsets are truly the most foundational part of what we do. How we see the world depends on our mindsets, therefore, affecting our thoughts and behaviours. If we can improve our mindsets, then we can naturally improve our lives. When people have a prevention mindset, they focus on preventing losses. They just want to avoid problems. On the other hand, people who are focused on winning aren’t concerned with problems, only progress.  When a crisis happens, we get into survival mode, and what this does is shift our mindset to a negative one. We start focusing on ourselves and lose sight of how we can positively impact everyone else around us.  Connect with Ryan Website - https://ryangottfredson.com/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/RyanGottfredsonPhD/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/ryangottfredson/Linkedin  - https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryan-gottfredson-9a0b466/

Most ecommerce startups follow a similar startup story. We didn't do that great in school, so we didn't follow the traditional college degree path. We were hungry to survive so we jumped into the workforce right from a young age, which we were unhappy with and then discovered the opportunity to sell products online through Amazon or eBay.  You guys may or may not know it, but I'm actually speaking from some of my own personal experience. However, today's guest comes from the other side of the coin, building an amazing ecommerce business with the experiences he got from getting his Bachelor's Degree.  Today's guest is Ryan Popoff, the founder and owner of Popov Leather.  Ryan and I met through a mutual friend, JP, who I did an episode with a few months back (which you can check out here!) and from there, I just found Ryan's start up story just incredibly fascinating. Ryan used the experiences that he learned from school and his art degree to build a masterpiece of a product that he ultimately produced and now sells worldwide. This just goes to show you how far creativity can really take your business.  Here's a list of topics (with timestamps!) that we go through:  Ryan's background: who he is and what he does –– 4:41 Why Ryan chose to dive into the Wallet industry –– 5:51 Quitting his job and diving in full-time –– 7:05 At present: revenue and growth –– 8:12 Challenge #1: Growing Pains –– 9:10 How Ryan learned about his financials, and what you can do to learn about them too –– 10:15 How lowering Ryan's free shipping threshold affected profitability –– 12:09  The sacrifices taken when growing your business year over year –– 13:43  Achieving success within a crowded niche –– 18:38 The idea that started Popov Leather –– 22:18  Expanding the product portfolio –– 23:35 Challenge #2: Saving money by exercising creativity –– 24:40  Challenge #3: Hiring and Training your first employee –– 28:08 The challenges in the future for Popov Leather –– 31:41 Making the product speak for itself –– 34:00 Want to access our Secret Sauce video classes but you’re not a Premium member? My guest today is Ryan Singer, the head of Project Strategy at Basecamp. Ryan recently published a book called Shape Up where he describes his process for planning, designing, and executing projects at Basecamp. In this interview, instead of talking about Shape Up and the principles in the book directly, we danced around those topics and applied them to ideas like consciousness, architecture, and product management. We talked about the interaction between design and consciousness and how Ryan’s love of architecture lead him to Christopher Alexander. We talk about relationships between top-down and bottom-up perspectives on the world and how you can synthesize the two. Our conversation begins by applying Shape Up to the writing process. At times this conversation is practical and at times it gets spiritual. ____________________________ Shownotes 2:02- How Ryan used the core principles of Shape Up to structure, focus, and ultimately write his book, using workshops to refine how you present your ideas and the necessity of using time constraints and process clarification to move through the different processes of writing. 8:29- Ryan’s transition from being a designer to a designing programmer and the successful elements of teamwork that Ryan has identified over his 16 years at Basecamp. 15:13- How impact and team satisfaction drives productivity and focus for Ryan’s team and how the 6-week schedule at Basecamp facilitates this satisfaction. The balance you can find by asking, “How far can you push in one push?” 19:57- How enthusiasm paired with timeboxing helps a team feel energetic but still healthy, the nuance of using a firm 6-week time boundary for a project, and how hard walls with a soft middle are key to the Shape Up method.  26:44- How a team can be committed to the end goal without being attached to how to get there, why Ryan uses the deeply matured truth of architecture to inform his work in the newer field of interaction design and his appreciation of Christopher Alexander’s design principles. 35:18- How only a deep understanding of a problem can inform the comparison methods for the potential solutions, the multiscale principle as relates to Modernist buildings and design, and the playout of human scale and architecture in Minecraft and tourist destinations. Ryan asks the question, “how do we specify the large scale and allow the people living there to design the small scale?” 49:44- Why Ryan chose “Felt Presence” as the name of his website, how consciousness and the mind inform Ryan’s design work, how Bob Moesta’s work to understand why people reach for a Snickers bar informed a redesign of the candy. 55:52- How understanding the underlying causes of a situation can help you design a useful solution.

Entrepreneurs, investors, and designers alike will enjoy this conversation. It focuses on the missing link between the vague idea for a company and the ultimate cash flows it produces—namely, the execution of a design that makes customers want to pay. You might be surprised at some of their ideas about branding tactics. Have you ever considered the impact of typeface design in a company’s messaging? Today’s guests make a compelling case for re-thinking the media we use to reach our customers and prospects. Ryan Bugden is an old friend, and together with Michelle Ando, we had a fantastic discussion on their design education, their work, their approach to branding, and the way that design bridges the commercial and the artistic. Ryan and Michelle are both RISD-educated graphic designers based in Brooklyn. Both at one point made their way to Red Antler—a legendary branding design studio known for its work with clients like Casper, Allbirds, FourSquare, Square, Betterment, Zillow, Google, American Express, HBO, TripAdvisor, and General Electric, just to name a few. Michelle is still with Red Antler, and Ryan has moved on, working at Pentagram under Paula Scher before leaving to focus on his own work. In this episode… What does it take to find your niche and carve out a segment of the market where you can deliver value? How do you take your business to the next level of growth by serving a niche market with a passionate following? On this episode of Inspired Insider, you’ll hear from entrepreneur and author, Ryan Levesque. In his conversation with Jeremy, Ryan explains why he wrote his two books, how to avoid trend markets, the “Five Market Must Haves,” and much more. You’ll need a pen and paper for this one - you don’t want to miss a thing! Is it better to go after those in your niche market who have a common issue that needs to be solved or should you go after those who are passionate and dedicated? For a long time, most business leaders thought that it was best to go after the common issues people struggle with, but recent analysis has revealed a different approach is necessary. Ryan Levesque argues that it is better to for depth rather than frequency - meaning that the more engaged people in your niche are the more reliable ones to build your business catering to. If you want to know more about this important concept, make sure to check out the link to Ryan’s books located in the resources section at the end of this post. One of the best ways to hone in on your unique offering to the marketplace is by exploring multiple options. Sometimes the best way to find the right course of action is by eliminating the bad ones! In his conversation with Jeremy, Ryan Levesque reveals his, “Five market must-haves.” Get into an “Evergreen market,” not a, “Fad market.” Make sure you are in an “Enthusiast market,’ not an exclusively “Problem/solution market.” Find the “Urgent problem” in your market that you can solve. Address “Future problems” in your market. Make sure your target audience is “Players with money.” Where do you find yourself and your business in this process? Do you need help to find your niche market or are you on the right track? What is your philosophy when it comes to building a team in your business? Have you had a lot of success gathering a solid team around you or are you looking for some insights that might help? Ryan Levesque is adamant that his success is directly tied to the heavy lifting his team does behind the scenes. He’ll be the first to admit that building a high-quality team isn’t easy, but his thriving business serves as proof that taking the time to put one together is completely worth it. What can you learn from Ryan’s story? Let’s face it; most business leaders want to be known as innovators and pioneers - they are usually the ones that get all the credit! Think about it, can you name the second person to step foot on the moon off of the top of your head? Probably not - but you likely know the name, Neil Armstrong! The truth is, while pioneers tend to grab the headlines, it’s the settlers that really make a difference. Innovators like Steve Jobs and the guys at Google weren’t the first to innovate in their field, but they took what was pioneered, and they improved upon it. According to Ryan Levesque - building a better mousetrap is the key! Don’t assume you need to come up with the next great invention, find one that needs improvement and build on it!
