What happens when your creative passion feels like it's not loving you back? This week we're diving into a brilliant piece by Kelly's good friend, songwriter and music educator Mike Errico, who compares our relationship with creative work to loving a cat - something beautiful, unpredictable, and impossible to control. Mike asks AI how to love a cat, then translates those tips into wisdom for anyone wrestling with the ups and downs of making art. Whether you're a musician, writer, or any kind of creator who's ever felt like you're pouring your heart into something that seems indifferent to your devotion, this episode offers a fresh perspective on how to nurture your craft without losing yourself in the process. What if the key to becoming a better man… was understanding women? In this powerful conversation, grief and transformation expert Joshua Wenner shares what years of men's work couldn't teach him — and what he only discovered after stepping into a space he never expected to lead: women's healing. Joshua spent a decade helping men process grief, reclaim their power, and reconnect with purpose. But it was through coaching women, witnessing their wounds, and helping them heal their relationships with men that he gained a deeper understanding of what it means to be truly integrated as a man. In this episode, we talk about: The difference between men's and women's work — and why both matter How unhealed father wounds shape how women see men (and how men see themselves) The “Nice Guy vs Savage” trap and what real masculine power looks like How trust between men is broken — and how to rebuild it Why many successful men still feel alone, guarded, and disconnected What healthy partnership actually requires — and how we change the family system from the inside out Whether you're deep in your own work or just beginning to ask the big questions, this episode will expand your view of what healing looks like — and remind you that real power starts with presence.
Why is there anything at all? How can we know for sure? How did we get here, and what are we here for, anyway? Why have things gone so badly wrong? Is there any hope of fixing them? What should I do with my life? And where will it all end? These are the foundation questions that all worldviews attempt to answer. "Many factors contribute to our worldview, not all of them the product of our own thoughtful reflection...Our family background, life experience, economic circumstances, educational pedigree, cultural context, national heritage, linguistic community, physiological characteristics, psychological makeup, and historical situation all have an influence on the way we see the world." And because our worldview informs how we live, act, and hope, it is important that we evaluate these contributing factors and ground ourselves in the worldview that accurately describes reality. Philip Graham Ryken (DPhil, University of Oxford) is the eighth president of Wheaton College. He has lectured and taught at universities and seminaries worldwide, and is the author of more than 30 books, including "Kingdom Come!", "Grace Transforming" and "Loving the Way Jesus Loves." Join the conversation as we see how the Christian intellectual tradition has shaped the Christian worldview. As always, bring your questions! I will be taking questions and calls after the teaching.
Summary In this conversation, S Anthony Thomas discusses the importance of expressing love for friends and the distinction between liking and loving someone. He emphasizes that true friendship involves a deep emotional connection that compels individuals to stand up for each other, even in difficult situations. The conversation advocates for normalizing the expression of love among friends, particularly in a society where such sentiments can be misconstrued. Takeaways Normalize being able to say that you love your friends. There's a clear difference between liking and loving friends. True friendship involves standing up for each other. People often hesitate to express love due to societal norms. It's important to recognize the emotional depth of friendships. Loving someone means being willing to take risks for them. Friendship can be complicated by societal expectations. Expressing love should not be seen as weakness. Real friends will support each other in tough times. It's okay to love people without it being weird. Chapters 00:00 The Importance of Expressing Love for Friends 02:39 The Difference Between Liking and Loving Friends https://linktr.ee/santhonythomas

Acts 4:32-35 NLTAll the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God's great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need. All were united in heart and mind. Sharing what they had. No one needy among them.Only God can change the human soul to cooperate, unite, and love like that, selflessly, literally bringing Heaven to earth.Today, His life is available. His love is available. His Spirit can touch our lives to love, care, and share like those first disciples. This passage creates a longing to be united in heart and mind with other believers. Can you make yourself available to love selflessly today?Read once more this time from the Message Bible:The whole congregation of believers was united as one—one heart, one mind! They didn't even claim ownership of their own possessions. No one said, “That's mine; you can't have it.” They shared everything. The apostles gave powerful witness to the resurrection of the Master Jesus, and grace was on all of them. And so it turned out that not a person among them was needy. Those who owned fields or houses sold them and brought the price of the sale to the apostles and made an offering of it. The apostles then distributed it according to each person's need.No matter how independent we may think ourselves to be, we need care. We need help. We need others. True community is finding common ground coupled with unity. Focused on what draws us together, rather than divides. Peace over chaos. Responsibility over rights. Giving. Caring. Loving like Jesus.Let's pray together: “Lord of all, thank You for Your Spirit that unites us in one heart and mind. Thank You that in You we can meet one another's needs, share our blessings, and love with the kind of love that only Heaven can give. As above, so below.”

So many of us feel blindsided when it comes to the relationships with our adult children. We heard a lot about the struggles of being a parent to babies, toddlers, tots, pre-teens, and teenagers, but not a lot about our role and relationship with adult children. The reason it can be so challenging is because so many of us struggle to let go of our parenting role and we can often feel that their decisions (which we can often judge as poor) reflect badly on our parenting. In this podcast I'm speaking with Coach Brooke Oniki about how we can show up better in the relationships with our adult children. Have you ever clung to a system simply because you built it? In this episode, we explore the IKEA effect—how emotional investment in our creations can unintentionally sabotage our pet care businesses. We unpack how pride and ownership can be both motivating and limiting, and how to know when it's time to evolve. With practical examples from scheduling tools to onboarding procedures, we offer tools to recognize when you're stuck. This is your invitation to build a better, more sustainable business—one that serves your clients, your team, and your future self. Main Topics The IKEA Effect in Business Emotional Investment vs. Functionality Feedback and Continuous Improvement Delegation and Scalability Building for the Future Buyer Main Takeaway: The best businesses are built to serve others, not to preserve our ego. As business owners, it's easy to get attached to what we've created—spreadsheets, policies, even how we onboard clients. But clinging to what we built just because we built it can hold us back. The real strength comes from evolving, replacing weak spots, and asking hard questions like, “Is this still working?” or “Would I build this the same way today?” When we hold our systems loosely and commit to serving others excellently, we make space for growth, joy, and lasting impact. Build for service, not ego. Links: Check out our Starter Packs See all of our discounts! Check out ProTrainings Code: CPR-petsitterconfessional for 10% off

Ephesians 5:22-24 Not everyone should get married. If you prize your freedom and want independence, stay single for Christ (1 Cor 7:32-35). However, if a woman wants to have a biblical marriage, she should recognize her husband's headship (Col 3:18-19; Titus 2:3-5; 1 Pet 3:1-2). She should model the Church in relation to Christ. Of course, a wife can and should break submission if her husband asks her to sin, is mentally unwell (including substance addiction), or is physically abusive. Each situation warrants its own wisdom. The pastors and elders are here to help you through such hard situations (email: elders@lhim.org). Ephesians 5:25-27 As the wives are to submit, the husbands are to love self-sacrificially. He should model Christ in relation to the Church. When Paul wrote Ephesians, such a standard would have sounded radical. Other authors from the period like Josephus, Philo, and Plutarch mention the wife's submission, but never the husband's requirement to love, much less love like Christ! Ephesians 5:28-30 Husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. Cherish her, protect her, provide for her, and attend to her needs. Ephesians 5:31 The standard for marriage goes back to the Garden of Eden before sin ever entered the picture. The beautiful complementarity and mutuality God designed finds its fullest expression in the physical intimacy enjoyed by a husband and wife in a committed marriage (1 Cor 7:1-5). Ephesians 5:32-33 Christian marriage is a symbol, pointing to Christ's relationship with the Church. Christian marriages have an incredible opportunity to testify before a watching world. The post Ephesians Part 10: Loving Husbands, Respectful Wives first appeared on Living Hope.
Loving your children seems like a universally understood idea but there is a correct way to love them. How do we do that? We observe and experience love and then we replicate it.1 John 4:19 tells us that “We love because He first loved us.” This verse not only explains why we are to love but how we are able to love. I want to focus on the how and ask you one question that will determine if you are loving your kids the way you need to.—Get your FREE 7-day devotional download:https://fatheringourfuture.com/2025/03/22/free-7-day-devotional/Get your copy of my devotional for dads, Following Our Father:https://amzn.to/45m9ldRGet your free gift, a copy of Cut The Crap (E-book):https://fatheringourfuture.com/2024/08/04/free-download-for-new-dads/MERCH:https://fatheringourfuture.printify.me/products Become a financial partner with Fathering Our Future and make a direct impact on dads:https://fatheringourfuture.com/support/
Today's episode is a little different because the mic's turned on me.This conversation was originally recorded for Sonia Thompson's Inclusion and Marketing podcast, and it was such an important one, I wanted to share it with you here too.Sonia and I talk about what it really means to plan inclusive business events – especially for people who identify as being underrepresented or underserved communities.I share my personal experiences as a visibly Muslim woman who doesn't drink alcohol or engage in physical contact with men, and how that's often made it difficult to fully participate in professional events. From dodging hugs and skipping networking sessions at bars… to sparking an accidental ice cream social that everyone wanted to join… this episode is full of honest reflections, lightbulb moments, and actionable ideas for making your events (and your business) more inclusive for everyone. If you've ever felt like you didn't quite fit in at a business event – or you're someone who wants to create safer, more welcoming spaces for all your attendees – this one's for you.Thank you to Sonia for hosting such a thoughtful conversation, and for letting me share it with you here.Listen and subscribe to the Inclusion and Marketing podcast here >> https://inclusionandmarketing.com/category/podcast/Loving the podcast?Support the show and leave a rating or review here: https://ratethispodcast.com/mistakesGet the BTS scoop on how this podcast is made in this bonus episode: https://emancopyco.com/btsWork with Eman Copy Co. to power up your email strategy, your launches, and your revenueFill in the enquiry form on this contact page: https://emancopyco.com/contact/Want to learn with me?Take Eman's “What's Your Perfect Newsletter Style?” quiz: https://www.emancopyco.com/quiz Check out my courses and masterclasses: https://emancopyco.com/learn-with-me/Say hi
This week, I'm reading Chapter 23, the final chapter of the Peter David penned movie novelization of the 1991 Rocketeer film. Ironically, this episode will come out right after the United States' birthday (7/4/1776), at a time when there is a lot of turmoil in the country. It's not the first time, nor will it be the last, I suspect. I won't get into the wasteland of politics, but since this episode is on the Rocketeer, I thought it would be an interesting time to reflect on how the character fits some American ideals. Speaking of which - ideals ... the country was founded on the idea that all men are created equal and all deserve some basic rights. Was this true in 1776? Let's be frank (it's an American ideal). No. Not even close. It might have been true if you were a free white man but was probably not anywhere close to being true if you were a woman, child, slave, indentured servant, or a race other Caucasian. It took a long time for other groups to finally catch up. US women finally achieved the right to vote in national elections in 1920 (19th amendment to the US Constitution). Though slavery was officially abolished after the US Civil War in 1865, black men were were not granted the right to vote in federal elections until 1870 (the 15th amendment to the US Constitution), and it was not until the 1950s and 60s and beyond that segregation practices were ended (Jim Crow laws ended on a national level in 1964, but in many cases, still exist in other, less overt forms depending on the location). It was not until 1967 that interracial marriage was allowed on a federal level (see the 1967 US Supreme Court case of Loving v. Virginia). Although the United States was founded by immigrants, the Chinese exclusion act, passed in 1882, was the first significant law that restricted the flow of immigrants into the US, targeting Chinese laborers. While there were amendments to the law in 1943, there were still quotas and other restrictions to abide by. It was not until 2012 (!) that the Chinese exclusion act was official condemned by Congress. Although Native Americans were the first people on this land, they were not granted access to US citizenship until 1924 (Indian Citizenship Act), and it was not until 1965 that they were granted the federal right to vote (Voting Rights Act of 1965), though US Native Americans still are often unable to vote for various reasons to this day. Same sex marriage was not legally allowed on federal level until 2015 (see the US Supreme Court decision of Obergefell v. Hodges). These are just a few examples of inequality in the face of a federal Constitution claiming basic rights for all. I write all this not to condemn all the ways in which we as a country fail to live up to our ideals but rather to show that as any society, especially one made up by immigrants from all over the world, is going to have its problems and will require a lot of work and constant maintenance to work in any somewhat functional way. The US is basically a nearly 250 year old hotel with guests constantly coming and going, clogging the sinks and toilets, running down the hot water, making messes, and yelling in the hallway. Even in low season times, there is still plenty of maintenance to do since things break. Nothing lasts forever. How does all this relate to the Rocketeer? What if dominance and submission weren't just a game, a kink, or a performance… but the structure that could reshape your life, your love, and your entire sense of self? In this episode, I share the truth behind what we now call Devotional Dominance and submission as the lived, daily reality of our marriage. I talk about the mistakes we made early on, the illusions that had to die, and the exact ways D/s became our path to deeper intimacy, spiritual growth, and erotic freedom. You'll hear: • Why most D/s dynamics collapse outside the bedroom, and how to prevent it • How structure, love, and sovereignty actually work together • The 5 subtle patterns that slowly destroy D/s dynamics from within • Why performance, pleasing, and control are not submission or leadership • The personal story of how Dawn and I almost destroyed everything and what saved us • How real transformation requires letting the dynamic remake you If you've ever struggled with living this lifestyle for real… if you crave depth, polarity, erotic honesty, and intimacy that lasts—you'll find a mirror here. And if you're ready to take the next step, we've created something powerful. Rapture is the most complete, embodied journey we've ever created. It's for couples and individuals who want to live this devotion in real life…without the guesswork, the shame, or the endless pattern of collapse and confusion. In today's episode I'm diving deep into one of the most debated questions of PCOS and fertility - should you be eating a low-carb diet when preparing for pregnancy with PCOS? If you've ever wondered why blood sugar seems to fluctuate more when you have PCOS, or why so many experts talk about insulin resistance and its impact on your fertility journey, you're in the right place. In this episode, I break down the science behind why PCOS makes you more susceptible to insulin resistance and what that actually means for your body and your hormones. I'll explore why blood sugar swings are more common with PCOS, how those ups and downs can affect ovulation and egg quality, and—most importantly—what you can do about it with your food choices. But here's where it gets really interesting. While low-carb and keto diets are often promoted as the “fix” for PCOS, the truth is much more nuanced. I'll share why these diets can sometimes backfire, especially when you're trying to conceive, and what you need to know to truly support your fertility and hormone health for the long term. The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the second study session on Gregg Olsen's If You Loving You Is Wrong, which investigates the scandalous, tragic arrangement between White Seattle schoolteacher Mary Kay Letourneau and her 12-year-old non-white student, Vili Fualaau. Gus T. was not a Seattle resident at the time of this criminal disgrace. When speaking with Neely Fuller Jr. many years ago about why it's incorrect for White people to engage in sexual activity with non-white people, he cited the Letourneau case. At the time, Gus shamelessly admitted being ignorant about this case. Fuller paused briefly before asking Gus to confirm that he was dialing from Seattle's 206 area code. Chatting all the way from Washington, D.C., Fuller knew all the tacky details of this case and how it corroborates his counter-racist code, which prohibits so-called interracial hanky panky until there's no more Racism. Also, Fuller emphasized how White people exploit the childlike state of non-white people/Victims of Racism in these sexual arrangements. Last week, Olsen told us of Mary Kay's California upbringing which included her father John Schmitz's political work for "right wing," "ultraconservative" causes. Her family's connections to the John Birch Society, a notoriously Racist organization, further corroborated Gus's belief that Letourneau was a cunning Race Soldier who deliberately selected a vulnerable non-white child to rape. The first installment of Olsen's book, which details the police stopping Mary Kay and 12-year-old Vili Fualaau during a 1am sexual rendezvous, reminded Gus of Jeffrey Dahmer's stealth when questioned by Milwaukee police officers who could have save the life of 14-year-old Konerak Sinthasomphone. #MaryKTime INVEST in The C.O.W.S. - https://cash.app/$TheCOWS #TheCOWS16Years CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE: 564943#
