#881. Before she was selling out theaters, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes was a Bay Area girl chasing signs from the universe — like making the Raiderettes squad or landing a role as an extra on Friends. In this episode, Anjelah takes Kaitlyn through the ride of how her comedy career began! She shares how a simple stand-up class birthed her legendary “Nail Salon” bit, the behind-the-scenes chaos of writing and filming Bon Qui Qui for MADtv (and why she was fired), and the moment her sister's unwavering belief kept her from packing up and quitting comedy altogether. The two also dive into Anjelah's wildest fan encounters, her pregnancy journey, and what it was like to be a regular at Central Perk before becoming a household name herself. A Prayer to Love Your Neighbor Being a good neighbor is more than kindness—it’s a reflection of Christ’s love.Today's prayer by Rachael Adams explores Jesus’ teaching of the Good Samaritan, reminding us that love isn’t limited to those who are easy to care for, but extends to everyone God places in our path. Loving our neighbor means recognizing needs and acting in compassion, without bias or judgment. Reference: Mark 12:31 Prayer: Father, some people are easy to love, but others can be more difficult. Forgive me for not reaching out to my neighbors when I should have. Lead me to know when and how to help the people you have intentionally placed around me. No matter where I go or who I meet, help me to see each individual as a person to love and as an opportunity to fulfill your command to love my neighbor. In Jesus' name, amen. In this episode of Leadership on the Rocks, Bethany Rees talks with René Sonneveld—former Fortune 500 CEO, leadership coach, and author of The Elephant in the Family Room. René shares why awareness of self, others, and the systems we're part of is the true foundation of leadership. Amanda shares how she went from a meme page to interviewing A-listers, how becoming a mom didn't change things, and how she balances sharing opinions while navigating the sensitive side of gossip. It's the hinge your entire story turns on—and one of the hardest story elements to identify and write. Can I be honest? I struggled with turning points for years.I knew they were essential. They're the moment when everything changes. The moment that forces the character to face a crisis choice. The moment that reveals what the story is really, at its heart, about. And yet . . . I couldn't see them.I found so many things that weren't the turning point. I found inciting incidents, and midpoints, and climaxes. The turning point, though? It eluded me.Until I learned a simple framework that finally, finally unlocked them for me.That framework:Reveals why the turning point matters so dang much within the storyTies the turning point perfectly to the inciting incident, climax, and every other element of storyIs objective and straightforward, making it clear to measure (no more guessing at turning points based on gut feeling!)Is wonderfully simple (it's kind of incredible how simple it is, considering how tough turning points are to spot)That framework marked my turning point in the way I edit turning points. If you have ever struggled to figure out what the heck the turning point is in a story, well, you're not alone.I hope this framework gives you a breakthrough. It certainly did for me!Further listening:Inciting incident (qualities & traps)Progressive complications (qualities)Progressive complications (traps)Protagonist's goalContent genresSend me a Text Message!Support the showRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts "I love Alice and Your Next Draft." Entering part 6 of our "Home Field Advantage" series, we continue with our thought that, as we get to know God better and trust Him more, our biggest advantage happens at home. That "love thy neighbor" starts with the people you share a roof and heritage with. Pastor Brandon teaches us today that serving at home is a baseline for spiritual leadership and that you can love your family by being a servant leader. Loving and leading by meeting your family's practical needs, by sharing what God has done for you, and by letting them see your worship. Ultimately, serving begins at home. - Key verses // John 15:4, Matthew 20:25-28 - For Sermon Notes, the Connect Card, and our other online resources: https://linktr.ee/Celebrationchurchlive

Guest: Dr. Steven Lytle, Sparrow House Counseling Far too many young men struggle seeing a clear and accurate picture of God, as their Heavenly Father, because of the real or perceived shortcomings of their earthly fathers. Dr. Steven Lytle reminds us that the role of the father is to provide for this family, but it is so much more than just putting food on the table and a roof over their head. A father is also meant to provide his attention, affection, and affirmation. Listen as Steven and I discuss how men can be the best father-figures for their boys, but also how the greatest calling of every father is to point their children to the loving embrace of their Perfect Heavenly Father! What if the sweetest, most loving things women do are actually hidden tactics to control you? In this podcast, I'll expose five “romantic” moves that seem harmless but are secretly designed to make you comply without even realizing it. Once you see them, you'll never look at certain gestures the same way again.
When you think of a saint, who do you picture? Chances are it's not a tracksuit-wearing, video game playing teen, but that's exactly who the Catholic Church canonised recently. So, why was Carlo Acutis special? What miracles did he perform? And could his sainthood help drive younger people back to religion?

One of the most common questions I get from betrayed partners: "Todd, do I need to separate from my partner to get clarity? Do I need to separate to have self-dignity?" And I completely understand why people ask this. When you discover infidelity, your nervous system goes into shock. You can't think straight. You're so agitated by your partner's presence that all you want to do is cry or hit or scream. And here's what I know for sure: you cannot go back to business as usual like nothing happened. That would be betraying yourself. In this episode, I talk about the different types of separation that can help you heal - physical, emotional, and sexual - and why most couples I work with don't physically separate but still need space in some form.In this episode, you'll hear:• Why going back to "business as usual" is actually betraying yourself • How infidelity shocks your nervous system and why you need to calm down first • The difference between physical, emotional, and sexual separation • Why most couples don't physically separate but still heal successfully • How to set clear rules if you do decide to separate temporarily • The hyper-attachment and hypersexual response that some people have after betrayal • Why you might need to stop having sex while you heal • How to be your own person instead of acting out of fear of losing them • What healthy separation looks like versus just avoiding your feelingsI share stories from my practice about people who needed different types of space - some went to stay with supportive family, others created emotional boundaries while staying in the same house. The goal is always self-regulation so you can get clarity about what's right for you.And here's something important: if your partner can't handle you taking space to heal - if they threaten to go back to the affair partner because you're not making things nice for them - bye-bye to that person. A truly remorseful partner will support your need to regulate your nervous system. My "Healing Infidelity From the Inside Out" approach isn't about quick fixes. It's about growing through the crisis so you have more options, more maturity, and become healthier individuals.

Jesus' parable of the talents is an image of Christian life. God has invested a lot in each one of us. Like the servants who eagerly trade with their talents to make them fruitful, we want to accept all the opportunities and challenges that our Lord has entrusted to us. Too often it is easy to resent life, focusing only on the difficulties, and end up like the third servant who buries his talent out of laziness and fear.
