Ce week-end, c'était la deuxième édition des 24 heures d'Alsace au Point d'Eau à Ostwald. Dix équipes venues d'Europe et d'ailleurs se sont élancées sur un circuit électrique de 36 mètres pour une course de mini voitures. Une plongée dans l'univers décalé et ultra-précis du slot racing.Reportage Jules Ehrmann.

La Fabrique Artistique, Culturelle et Citoyenne a présenté la 10ᵉ édition du festival Opération Quartiers Populaires, qui se déroule du 29 septembre au 5 octobre. Concerts, stand-up, cinéma ou encore débats sont au programme. Le festival démarre avec un cycle mémoriel et aura lieu au Point d'Eau à Ostwald et dans les quartiers strasbourgeois de la Meinau, de l'Elsau et de Hautepierre. Placé depuis hier midi en vigilance orange par Météo France, la prudence est encore de mise ce matin. En raison de cumuls importants de précipitation sur de courtes durées, des crues inhabituelles de ruisseaux et fossés, des débordements des réseaux d'assainissement, des coupures d'électricité ou des perturbations routières sont possibles. La préfecture recommande d'éviter les déplacements, de ne pas emprunter une route immergée même partiellement et de rester informé quant à la situation.Deux nouveaux cas de chikungunya et de dengue découverts en Alsace. L'agence Régionale de la Santé l'a annoncé hier, les cas ont été détectés à Strasbourg et Ostwald. Afin de limiter la propagation du virus, une opération de démoustication aura lieu cette nuit dans les deux communes. Une seconde est prévue la semaine prochaine contre le chikungunya. Un flyer d'information a été déposé dans les boîtes aux lettres des logements concernés par le secteur de démoustication. Un nouveau radar sur la M35 strasbourgeoise. Installé dans la nuit de mardi à mercredi, il a été installé sur le terre-plein central, juste après la sortie Bischheim/Schiltigheim. Capable de différencier les types de véhicules, il est rappelé que la vitesse est limitée à 70km/h de 6h à 19h et à 90km/h de 19h à 6h, sauf pour les poids lourds qui sont limités à 80 au lieu de 90. Bien qu'il ne soit pas encore en service, il s'agit du cinquième radar sur la M35. Les sapeurs-pompiers et le samu rapidement appelé sur place n'ont pas réussi à réanimer le septuagénaire en arrêt cardio-respiratoire. Il a été déclaré décédé sur place, il s'agit du deuxième accident mortel de plongée en une dizaine de jours, le premier avait eu lieu le 11 juillet à la gravière du Fort dans l'agglomération strasbourgeoises, où un homme de 80 ans avait perdu la vie lors d'une séance.A Niederbronn-les-bains. Les faits se sont produits la semaine dernière entre le 13 et le 14 juillet, lorsqu'un homme, alcoolisé, a éclaté un verre qui traînait sur une table d'un PMU dans le visage d'un client. Ce dernier, policier en repos, s'en sort avec des cicatrices au visage. L'agresseur, déjà connu des services de police, a été jugé vendredi en comparution immédiate et a écopé de 8 mois de prison ferme.Délit de fuite et accident à Zellwiller. Les faits se sont produits dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche, où un jeune homme ayant dépassé à vive allure sur la A35 un véhicule banalisé de la gendarmerie, a refusé de s'arrêter lorsque les militaires ont activé le gyrophare. Le conducteur de 20 ans a ensuite pris la direction de Barr, avant de perdre le contrôle de son véhicule à l'entrée du village de Zellwiller. Il a fini sa course dans la chapelle, dont un mur a été détruit, et la structure potentiellement fragilisée.Et on termine ce journal par une triste nouvelle à la Grande Motte dans le département de l'Hérault, où une bas-rhinoise de 78 ans a été retrouvée noyée sur la plage du point Zéro. Malgré les différents arrêtés préfectoraux interdisant notamment la vente, l'utilisation et le transport de ces derniers, l'inquiétude est de mise du côté des urgences et cliniques alsaciennes, qui accueillent lors de chaque soirée du Nouvel an des blessés par pyrotechnie. Quelques consignes de base sont rappelées : ne jamais redéclencher un engin qui n'a pas explosé et ne pas le vérifier, éloigner les mineurs, ou encore respecter la loi en utilisant uniquement les pétards disponibles sur le marché.Toujours dans le cadre de cette soirée du Réveillon, un couvre-feu a aussi été mis en place dans les villes de Strasbourg, Hœnheim, Bischheim, Schiltigheim, Illkirch-Graffenstaden, Lingolsheim et Ostwald. Les mineurs de moins de 16 ans devront être accompagnés de l'un de leurs parents ou d'un représentant de l'autorité parentale jusqu'à demain 06h. Une mesure pour éviter les violences, alors que de nombreux feux de poubelle et de voitures ont déjà été enregistrés lors des dernières semaines.Vers la construction de deux nouveaux périscolaires dans la Communauté de communes du pays de Barr ? Une étude de faisabilité a été approuvée par la collectivité il y a quelques jours. Les communes de Epfig et de Dambach-la-Ville seraient concernées par ces constructions, alors qu'elles accueillent chacune une centaine d'enfants en périscolaires, mais aussi une vingtaine de demandes non satisfaites. Les futurs équipements pourraient alors offrir 160 places à Epfig et 180 à Dambach-la-Ville. De quoi permettre encore d'accueillir les enfants des villages les plus proches : respectivement Reichsfeld, Bernardvillé et Itterswiller, ou encore Nothalten et Blienschwiller. Une ouverture est espérée pour la rentrée 2028-2029.Bien que les marchés de Noël aient fermé leurs portes, la ville de Colmar joue les prolongations avec son marché gourmand. Agrémenté de sa grande roue, il s'agit d'un lieu phare, comme l'explique Eric Straumann, maire de la cité de Bartholdi. Sur place vous retrouverez aussi neuf chalets proposant une grande offre de restauration, allant de l'entrée au dessert. Sujets traités : Un record de précocité. Des premiers flocons de neige ont été observés mercredi au sommet du Hohneck, dans les Vosges. Malgré un net refroidissement des températures cette semaine sur la région, il s'agit d'un record de précocité au 21ème siècle. Selon Météo Suivi Alsace, le précédent record datait du 24 septembre 2022, alors que la première neige tombe en moyenne le 19 octobre.126 emplois menacés. Le site alsacien de l'équipementier automobile Novares, situé à Ostwald, devrait prochainement fermer. Le site connaissait des difficultés économiques et voyait son chiffre d'affaires baissait mais aussi le carnet de commandes, notamment en raison du dumping social. Le chiffre d'affaires du site est passé de 50 millions d'euros par an en 2019 à 12 millions en 2023. Les employés, pour beaucoup de longue date, sont sous le choc. Des battues de sangliers à la frontière demandées par des syndicats agricoles. La FNSEA du Bas-Rhin et de la Moselle craint une propagation de l'épidémie de peste porcine africaine en France alors qu'un cas a été découvert à 60 kilomètres de la frontière. Les syndicats demandent la mise en place d'une zone blanche à l'Ouest du Rhin, dans laquelle tous les sangliers devraient être éliminés. Le taux de mortalité de cette maladie, non transmissible aux humains, est proche de 100%. Aucun vaccin n'est pour l'heure disponible. Un élevage particulier. 7 hommes sont jugés aujourd'hui à Strasbourg pour avoir acquis et élevé illégalement des animaux un peu particuliers. Mygales, veuves noires, boas, pythons, ou encore scorpions avaient notamment été retrouvés dans des colis et chez des particuliers en avril dernier. Hi, Crime Family, thanks for being here this week for this Just One B episode, with solo Beth telling the rough story of the murder of Cammi Leigh Ostwald, who was a 16-year-old Michigander from Clinton Township, which is a suburb of Detroit. She was a pretty typical teenager, but after a fight with her mom about an older boy, Cammi ran away. Cammi's family were frantic to find her and bring her home, but the 19-year-old her 'friend' asked to look after her took that possibility off the table. Her murder was horrific and cruel, and seems likely to have taken place because of a childish fantasy the perpetrator had held in his mind for years. Please hear Cammi's story, and keep in your hearts all the distraught families of runaways. Her family loved her. Her family wanted her home. She really didn't grasp how much she was loved, even though they showed it with the care they tried to give her. This loss was tragic and brutal and devastating. Rest in peace, Cammi. Eliezer Yudkowsky In this post, I use "nanobots" to mean "self-replicating microscopic machines with some fundamental mechanistic differences from all biological life that make them superior". Various specific differences from biological cells have been proposed. I've organized this post by those proposed differences. 1. localized melting Most 3d printers melt material to extrude it through a nozzle. Large heat differences can't be maintained on a small scale. 2. rare materials If a nanobot consists largely of something rare, getting more of that material to replicate is difficult outside controlled environments. Growth of algae and bacteria is often limited by availability of iron, which is more common than most elements. Iron is the active catalytic site of many enzymes, and is needed by all known life. The growth of something made mostly of iron would be far more limited, and other metals have more limited availability than that. 3. metal surfaces Melting material isn't feasible per (1), so material must be built up by adding to the surface. Since that's the case, the inside of structures must be chemically the same as what was the exterior. Metal objects have a protective oxide layer. In an air or water environment, there's no way to add individual (eg) aluminum atoms to a metal surface and end up with metallic aluminum inside; the whole thing will typically be aluminum oxide or hydroxide. Corrosion is also a proportionately bigger problem for smaller objects. A micrometer-scale metal structure will rapidly corrode, perhaps doing some Ostwald ripening. 4. electric motors Normal "electric motors" are all electromagnetic motors, typically using ferromagnetic cores for windings. Bigger is better for those, up to at least the point where you can saturate cores. On a very small scale, it's better to use electrostatic motors, and you can make MEMS electrostatic motors with lithography. (Not just theoretically; people actually do that.) But, per (2) & (3), bulk metals are a problem for a self-replicating system. If you need to have compounds floating around, electrical insulation is also difficult. You also need some way to switch current, and while small semiconductor switches are possible, per (3) building them is difficult. Instead of electrostatic charge of metal objects, it's better to use ions. Ions could bind to some molecule, and electrostatic forces could cause that to rotate relative to another molecule. Hmm, this is starting to sound rather familiar. 5. inorganic catalysts Lab chemistry and drug synthesis often use metal catalysts in solution, perhaps with a small ligand.
