How did LCDR Bonner earn the call sign “Siri”? Why did he choose the path from enlisted Sailor to officer? Frank dives into his journey, from growing up in South Central L.A. and dispelling common misconceptions about the neighborhood in the 90s to breaking barriers as he transitioned into the Navy.   LCDR Bonner also reflects on his time as a recruiter in one of California's wealthiest areas, sharing how he overcame challenges and thrived in the role. Throwing it back, Frank recalls the days of Blackberrys, his time as a DJ at Howard University during hip hop's blog era, and his impressive rise from Junior Enlisted to Chief, Chief to Officer, and Officer to Howard before returning to the Wardroom. He opens up about adversity in flight school, the unique dynamics LDOs navigate early on, and how the internet has reshaped the sense of community within the military.   Other highlights include Frank's favorite Navy moment, advice for maintaining a strong relationship during deployment, and a lively debate on whether Chiefs should be technical experts. Damo also shares his thoughts on the “lost generation” in today's Navy and asks if recruiters are equipped with the right tools to inspire in 2024. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence's 'Bad Boys: Ride or Die' Dominates Summer Box Office with $104.6 Million As I predicted, Black folks have once again saved the summer box office. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence's "Bad Boys: Ride or Die" came in with $104.6 million for the global purse. Forget the streaming wars, Will and Martin are doing their part to get butts back in the theater seats. The Academy Award-winner surprised a lot of people too over in South Central L.A. when he snuck into the Cinemark Baldwin Hills Theater. Fans were totally blown away when they realized, oh, Will was watching with them? Well, I have to say, this is the Black theater where folks get loud when they love a movie, so I am sure a good time was had by all. And congratulations to Will and Martin. Pulling this off once again. Howard University Revokes Sean ‘Diddy' Combs' Honorary Degree Amid Assault Allegations Howard University says no, no, and just no. On Friday, the DC-based university announced it was revoking the honorary degree awarded to Sean "Diddy" Combs in 2014. That decision follows, of course, the release of that horrific video that shows Combs attacking his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. The university's board of trustees voted unanimously to rescind the degree, citing behavior that's just fundamentally incompatible with Howard University's core values and beliefs. In addition to revoking the honorary degree, the trustee's statement noted that Howard would be terminating that 2016 gift agreement with Combs, and they are disbanding the scholarship in his name. They are also returning his $1 million contribution. I'm sure he's going to need that money anyway for his legal fees. You would think that being a musician would be a very safe existence…I mean, your job is to write and perform music…yeah, you might get into the odd altercation and fight, but it's not like you're going to war, right?...yet every once in a while, we hear about a musician being murdered… The earliest example I can find is Alessandro Stradella, an Italian composer of classical music…back in his day—which was the mid-1600s—he was quite the star and was very influential with his six operas, 170 cantatas, and a long list of instrumental compositions… But then on February 25, 1682, he was found stabbed to death in a public square in Genoa…no one was ever convicted although the story is that he was murdered by one of three brothers who accused Stradella of seducing their sister… The first musician I know of who got shot was Pinetop Smith, a boogie-woogie piano player from Chicago…in 1929, just as he was about to go into a recording session, he was shot during a fight at a dance hall…he might not have been the intended victim, but he died all the same… And the first musician of the rock'n'roll era to be murdered was probably Sam Cooke on December 11, 1964…fantastic soul singer…he took a gunshot wound to the chest when Bertha Franklin, the manager of the Hacienda Motel in South Central L.A.…she said it was in self-defence but even today, there are a lot of questions about the case…How many other rock musicians have been murdered since then?...fortunately, not a lot…but there is a tragic list…let's go through it… Learn more about your ad choices. We have had topics from previous episodes regarding Technology Deprivation and how this has a negative impact on segregated minority and black communities in South Central L.A. In today's episode, I will be telling a story about the atrocity of the deprivation of technology to minority and black communities. If you do not know yet, this year, the federal government will spend more than 60 billion to try to correct this tragedy.  As a result of the denial to access the latest technology then Cable Television minorities and black communities become impoverished communities in Los Angeles where gangs and crimes are prevalent.  I discussed here that the damage that Technology Atrocity caused minority and black communities cannot be reversed by the budget I mentioned above.  Tune in to today's episode to learn more about our topic today. Tragedy and Atrocity are well explained here:  “A  tragedy is an event that causes great suffering, destruction, and distress. In general, we look at tragedies as being naturally caused events such as hurricanes and tornadoes, and earthquakes, and atrocity is similar to a tragedy, but the fact is an atrocity is caused by human beings and is done by those who seek to do extremely wicked and cruel. Atrocity is in fact a tragedy. But the reality is the difference between a tragedy and an atrocity is that atrocity is caused by human beings with malice and forethought. That is the issue. The malice and forethought of the behavior of human beings are what make it an atrocity. Yes, tragedy can include events caused by human beings, but these tragedies are really with malice and for.” You may also listen to the past episodes related to this, here:  My trip to the Supreme Court Critical Race Reality: Cable TV Critical Race Reality Government Corruption in the City of L.A. A dollar is sometimes enough to buy candies, but most of the time it is used to pay for court damages. Some of you may be aware of this, but others may not. If you are found liable for damages, you can receive a minimum payment of 1 US Dollar from the court. The same thing happened to us during Judge Consuelo Marshall's trial in the 1980s.  For the past two weeks, I am telling our story of social injustice, and racism from Black Government Officials, and a Black Lady Judge. As you already know from Episode 31, we won our appellate case against the City of Los Angeles and Judge Marshall's Court.  The damages to our company have been calculated by Dr. Thomas Hasley. One of the leading communications economists in the United States in his sworn deposition. His calculation of damages for our company from 1983 through 1988 because of the ongoing violation of our civil rights, was approximately 70 million.  Judge Marshall whittle down the unanimous verdicts of the appellate court and the United States Supreme Court to $1 our rights as American citizens and 12 years of our lives valued at $1. Judge Marshall explained that she would not allow a jury to determine the damages to be awarded for the deprivation of our rights because any jury determination would be speculative. This can be a perfect example of Black-on-black crime. They committed crimes not just against us but also against Minorities, Black Communities, to the next generation in South Central L.A. I am telling this story because what happened to me (to us) can happen to you. When you file a case and you have a strong legal case you will fight until the end like what we did in our fight for our rights. But it could have not been the case because amending the case bleeds money on our side while the city of Los Angeles did not worry about the amount they spent because it is not their money, it is the Taxpayers' money.  You can imagine how many people with strong legal cases, but no financial resources, lost their day in court? How many sleazy politicians, dishonest bureaucrats, and authoritarian personalities got off without so much of a slap on the risk of abusing the power the citizens gave them because of money issues?  In Episode 30 I already discussed how we were able to finance our legal case. In today's episode, I tell a story about my trip to the Supreme Court. The fact that the US Supreme Court would now view our complaint against the city of Los Angeles seems surreal. This is written in my first book Anatomy of a Hustle; Cable Comes to South Central L.A.  Here are the highlights from the book I read: The newspaper made note of the unanimous nine oh decision in favor of preferred communications. A rarity on such a divided court cable television was clearly subject to the protections of the First Amendment, and all the justices remained the case back to the US District Court of Judge Consuelo Marshall for trial when I called my brother Carl, and he looked at the Los Angeles edition of the Los Angeles. To us, the city of Los Angeles was a perfect example of a city government going awry. And make no mistake in our research, Los Angeles's reputation for its corruption of power was replicated many times over in other cities, large and small. They looked to the larger trend-setting cities to define their governing style, what they would become, and what they could get away with. Judge Consuelo ruled in 1980. That there was no possibility that we could have a valid action against the city. It had taken two other courts, three years, and hundreds of thousands of dollars of our money and our friends' personal money just to get the right to ask for our constitutional rights from Judge Consuelo Marshall. South Central Los Angeles in the late 1980s was a terrible place to be. The area was rampant with crime, drugs, and a struggle to survive. As many of you know, police tended to turn a blind eye when dead sex workers were found, and they had an attitude like the victims were disposable. The people of Los Angeles define this city as a place where bold dreams, creative expression, and limitless possibilities abound.  One of the most culturally diverse destinations in the world. You'll be inspired by its unique perspectives, unexpected moments, and open-hearted community.  The City of Angels has an abundance of multi-faceted neighborhoods and hidden gems to explore. If you've been following me you already know that I am living in Los Angeles City, to be exact in South Central L.A. That is why also you notice in my books that Los Angeles City is mentioned. We always talk about racism and social justice issues happening in cities and states around the US. But for today's topic, we will be focusing on Los Angeles City.  The story today is about the resignation of the president of the Los Angeles City Council Nury Martinez.  This is for comments she made last year, and it was secretly recorded, but published in the last few weeks. These comments dealt with negative comments about black people, and indigenous people living in Los Angeles. More of this story is inside our podcast. We will discuss how our political systems really work and you'll be surprised to know that Los Angeles Times rarely covers anything racist behind the behavior at the Los Angeles City Council while turning a blind eye to the problems that affect black people. Additionally, they ignore the negative comments made about the behavior and lives of black citizens in Los Angeles. Again another issue that the media hides from you.  And that's where we're sitting in Los Angeles it's racist, corrupt, and getting away with it.  Open your mind to what is really happening around us. The economic status here in America is not doing well. We are now experiencing inflation, recession, and an increase in interest rates. We are greatly affected by this, Black Americans as well as other Americans. In our episode today we will answer the question of why is it Black America is behind in all the measures that indicate economic well-being despite America being a large nation, there should be a lot of opportunities for everyone. The government is restricting Black America's Economic Development with its law. It is hard for Black Americans to start businesses and create job opportunities for the community. One of the best examples of the government restricting development was when government officials in South Central L.A. did not allow us to participate in developing our business with then advanced technology Cable Television. It could have created thousands of jobs for the community. The government even fought us and did not honor the court of the United States Supreme Court Decision. Generally, theories shape a research question, guide the selection of relevant data, interpret the data, and provide explanations of observed effects. You may have heard of Project 1619 by Nikole Hanna - Jones, New York Times Magazine, and The Critical Race Theory Book. Both books used 1619 events in our history as a guide to creating their theory. My take here is why look at what happened 400 years ago? Why not take a look at the most recent past, this means what had happened 15 or 70 years ago? I do not tell you to ignore the past here, but the most recent past is where our focus should be. My example of this is the denied access to cable television 40 years ago. This was written in my book “What Did You Think was Going to Happened? The Betrayal of South Central” This has an impact on the present situation of the Black Community in South Central L.A. When you tune in to our episode today you will learn more about the story. Welcome to our 10th episode. This one is an interesting story of how an honorable judge herself did not honor the constitutional rights of her fellow Black Americans. And how the African American community is used by a black government official for personal gain. I am telling on The Honorable Consuelo B. Marshall. If you have read my book The Anatomy of a Hustle; Cable Comes to South Central L.A., her name must be familiar to you. It is because she was the honorable judge that was assigned to the case on the lawsuit we filed on behalf of our company Preferred Communications, on our fight for the right to put up a cable company for the benefit of the minority community in L.A. She was biased and immediately dismissed the case. Hear the whole story inside the episode today and how this went all the way to the Supreme Court. In our first nine episodes, we have discussed different social justice, racism, and political issues. You will be reminded of those as my story goes on. This episode is a kind of story that is a mix of Black on Black Racism, Effect of Black on Black Racism, True Meaning of Civil Rights, Term Limits to control Federal Government, and the Political Party System. It is shocking, but those issues we discussed can define what one person did. DIGITAL DIVIDE SCAM

We will discuss why this Digital Divide proposal is a scam in today's episode. Here is a sneak peek, did you know that it's NOT minorities, low-income households, and senior citizens in rural areas who will benefit the most from this affordable broadband and high-speed internet services? What is the role of the private sector in this big government project? We'll take a deep dive into another social justice and racism topic.  It has been in the news that our government led by our president will supposedly resolve the Digital Divide again in the country which began in 1992, where digital technology is more prevalent. President Biden, who was a Senator in 1992 was the one who is encouraging companies to monopolize on the internet access distribution. Broadband and high-speed internet communications are aimed at providing access for those without such access including minorities, low-income households, and senior citizens in rural areas. People of this group have been denied access to broadband and high-speed internet communications for a very long time, causing them to be technology illiterate.  I must tell you that the digital divide didn't begin in 1992, it began in the 1980s when cable television was the latest technology available. We wanted to build cable television in South Central Los Angeles for the benefit of the community, but we were denied the opportunity. As a result, our community was far behind other cities in terms of utilizing cable television. Rapha presents Life in the Peloton! This week I've got a really cool guest for you on the pod, American Cory Williams. Hailing from South Central L.A. (and weighing in at 65 kilos…). Cory is a hugely successful racer and regular winner on the U.S. criterium scene, as well as a founder of the L39ION of Los Angeles racing team.  Growing up in a cycling-mad family (their father, Calman, competed internationally for Belize) Cory and his two brothers, Justin and CJ, spent their youth racing up to four criteriums a week in California.   The brothers soon recognised that traditional cycling races and media weren't hitting the mark with an audience who were used to following faster-paced US sports like NFL & NBA. So, instead of just trying to follow the traditional pathways of cycling over in Europe, they set about trying to make the changes they wanted to see in their home country.  Starting off by strapping a Go-Pro to Cory's helmet, and filming from inside action-packed criterium races, the brothers soon built a huge following online while also winning big on the road. Since then, things have taken off, the brothers have been dominating the US crit scene, and L39ION of LA has grown to be one of the most popular teams on the planet. The team has one of the coolest kits and most unique vibes out there, and in 2021 through the ‘Into the Lion's Den' crit in Sacramento – started to get involved in organising events.  If you haven't seen Cory's videos, they are well worth checking out at nationsnumber1beast on YouTube – they are fun to watch, have some great insight and of course, they are filled with characters you'll love to follow.  I had a great chat with Cory about his journey, from the early days of being an outsider – putting his lycra shorts on to go training after school in South Central LA, through his love of film and racing, to breaking down how his team dominate in the races they ride. We also spoke about his current plans to try to create a new race series in the US, as well as his famed love for Zwift.  I hope you enjoy the insight! Join Kamau Franklin, Channing Martinez, and Eric Mann in a great conversation about Black Liberation, Black Revolutionary Nationalism and Third World anti-imperialist movement strategy. JOIN US NOW for a discussion about revolutionary strategy in the age of counter-revolution. The conversation goes all over the world back and forth through history. But the unique attraction of this conversation is all three are very successful organizers in the Atlanta and South Central L.A. communities. Kamau Franklin, is an organizer with Community Movement Builders in the Pittsburgh area of Atlanta's Black community. His work spans Afrocentric political education, alternative institutions construction, and defending the Black community against police and gentrification assaults. Check out their very impressive website, www.communitymovementbuilders.org to learn more about their cutting edge work. Check out Kamau's important article, An Ivory Tower Assassination of Malcom X, (Black Agenda Report April 11, 2011). Channing Martinez speaks about the growing attacks on the social structure of the Black community especially Black bus and train riders suffering 50% of all tickets and arrests, so police occupation and brutality reinforce massive poverty and an epidemic of houselessness. Eric Mann, a veteran of the Congress of Racial Equality, is the author of Playbook for Progressives: The 16 Qualities of the Successful Organizer. All three discuss a common view, building social movements independent and to the left of the Democratic Party—exciting ideas of building real revolutionary movements in the real world. Eric Mann's commentary on The U.S. NATO Russia, and the Ukraine. The Russian invasion of the Ukraine is an attack on their sovereignty, sadly in the ugly traditions of the Soviet invasions of Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Russia must withdraw all troops from its invasion of the Ukraine. NATO should disband—it is a U.S. dominated cabal of colonialists, NATO should cease its encirclement, attacks and provocations against Russia. NATO should pay reparations to the nations of Africa, Asia, and Latin America where they continue to carry out genocide and colonialism. Joe Biden and the Democrats should be brought up on international human rights charges for demanding the removal of Russian President Vladimir Putin, hysterical escalation of war rhetoric, providing weapons to the Ukraine, the mass imprisonment of Black people, and the forced starvation of the people of Afghanistan. It is not just pathetic president Biden who is determined to destroy Russia and China. The U.S. people better look into the mirror to see how they are becoming fascists and warmongers. The majority are willing to risk nuclear war over a conflict that is being escalated rather than negotiated by the U.S. government with their active support and participation. For peace activists, Black Liberationists, and anti-imperialists, the central contradiction is always the crimes of our own government and the mass complicity in the systematic genocide against the Third World. The call for Russian withdrawal from the Ukraine is imperative, The primary focus must be to oppose the war mongering of the U.S. white settler, one party state. Stand up to state run mass media and demand that CNN and CNBC register as official spokespeople for the U.S. CIA, Department of War, and State Department. Declining U.S. imperialism demands a Unipolar World because it can't live in peace or effectively compete economically with Russia and China. No matter how small the voice, we need to put the primary focus on the crimes of the U.S.

Del grew up in South Central Los Angeles in the 1980's which was like living in a war zone. As the crack epidemic exploded, the violent gang culture grew exponentially and Crips, Bloods and Latino gangs fought violent turf wars to control the drug distribution on the streets. Fortunately for Del, the Los Angeles Unified School District started busing children from South Central, Watts and East Los Angeles to better neighborhood schools located on the Westside of Los Angeles. This was an opportunity to escape the horrors of gang life in South Central L.A. at least between the hours of 8AM-3PM Monday through Friday. Del took full advantage of the opportunity and started to focus more on academics and athletics where he became a standout in track and football in high school. After being recruited to West Los Angeles Junior college for track, Del decided to pivot to play football full time which changed the trajectory of his life. Del developed into a talented wide receiver in college and was recruited to USC by legendary coach John Robinson. His life came full circle as he now was playing on Saturdays in front of 90,000 fans at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum just a few minutes away from where he grew up. Del flourished at USC in his role as a back up wide receiver to future NFL greats Keyshawn Johnson and Johnnie Morton and impressed his coaches with his mental mindset, leadership skills, intelligence and work ethic. As a result, after graduating from USC and finishing his football career his coaches offered him a graduate assistant position and he began his career as a division 1 football coach. Del is currently the wide receiver coach at Notre Dame and plays a crucial role in their national recruiting which keeps him extremely busy with a hectic travel schedule during the off season. He is a well regarded in the Division 1 coaching community and coveted as a Division 1 offensive coordinator and future head coach candidate. During his prestigious coaching career he has held various coordinator and assistant positions at power house programs such as USC, Arizona State, Oregon State, UNLV and Wisconsin and has mentored several NFL receivers and hundreds of young men who have gone on to get degrees and enter the work force. This is a story about persistence, drive, work ethic, vision, leadership and never allowing external distractions, or excuses, to knock him off his path to greatness. School is in session! Even as Night Stalker Richard Ramirez terrorized suburban Los Angeles residents with his sexual sadism and brazen break-ins, another serial killer was at work in South Central L.A.  Lonnie David Franklin, Jr. , a.k.a. the Grim Sleeper, murdered as many as 25 young women between 1985 and the early 2000s, often dumping their bodies in alleyways along the Western Avenue Corridor. In South Central in the 80's there was an epidemic of crack cocaine.  It is a highly addictive and very destructive drug.  It was cheap and extremely potent and, when it first came out, had a higher purity than powder cocaine.   Its distribution and its use exploded in 1980s in South Central Los Angeles.  It left a path of destruction in this area.  People lost their jobs, homes, their families and their lives by overdosing. "Some women would risk everything to acquire more of this drug," One Assistant District Attorney recalled. "Some women were willing to sell their bodies and their souls to get their next high. "Some lost their lives to the Grim Sleeper. While Ramirez got a lot of publicity, Franklin got very little -- even after a victim got away and practically lead LAPD officers to his front door.

Before "Freeway" Ricky Ross gained infamy as a $3 million-a-day Los Angeles crack dealer with hidden CIA support, he was headed to college on a tennis scholarship.  In the most explosive episode of RadioWHO yet, Ross gives host Guillermo Jimenez his definitive answer about the CIA's motives to sponsor drug dealing. Was it just to support the Nicaraguan Contra rebels, or a plot to harm black Americans? Ross rose to national infamy in 1996 after he featured prominently in investigative journalist Gary Webb's "Dark Alliance" series, which unearthed the CIA's involvement in drug dealing to help pay for Nicaragua's Contra rebels. Webb's scoop would lead to his eventual professional undoing and suicide, now the subject of the movie "Kill the Messenger", starring Jeremy Renner. Before that, Ross was an aspiring college tennis player with a scholarship - that fell through and returned him to the mean streetst of South Central L.A. the game had helped him avoid for so long.  Tune in now to RadioWHO to hear straight from the mouth of a man at the center of one of the CIA' murkiest operations yet.
