This week on the podcast, it's Quickstrike VS Scorponok — because we're watching the Uchū Sentai Kyuranger episode "Space.13: Stinger's Challenge To His Brother"! What reminds us of Power Rangers SPD ? What reminds us of DOOM (2005) ?! And — who's actually a Kamen Rider?? The answers to these questions (and more!) await, on this episode of the Ranger Danger Kyuranger podcast!
Frank is joined by Joe, aka "Muscles of the Multiverse," to talk Marvel storytelling from the comics page to the MCU screen, then go all-in on Disney+'s Wonder Man after its eight-episode drop. Joe breaks down what he does on YouTube, why he started the Reading the Multiverse podcast, and how he approaches Marvel adaptation trends without expecting (or wanting) a 1-to-1 translation. From there, the episode shifts into a full Wonder Man discussion: why the show works as a character-first story, how it balances comedy with real stakes, and why the Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery dynamic ended up being the surprise engine of the season. The conversation also gets into Simon's anxiety and identity pressure, the Department of Damage Control angle, the "Doorman" detour episode, and what all of this might be setting up for mutants and the next big MCU era. Timestamps and Topics (major beats) 00:00 Intro and guest welcome: Joe "Muscles of the Multiverse" 00:30 Joe's content approach: MCU-to-comics explainers + Reading the Multiverse podcast 02:15 Quick MCU news: Ian McKellen "destroyed New Jersey" comment and what it could imply 05:10 Wonder Man first reactions: why it's landing better than expected 06:40 Character-driven Marvel: Simon's relatability, anxiety, and hiding "who you are" in Hollywood 09:00 Acting as the hook: standout performances, "meta" acting scenes, and why Trevor works now 18:10 Wonder Man powers explained: ionic energy basics and how the MCU might simplify the lore 20:10 Bigger MCU threads: Vision/Wanda possibilities, mutant framing, and Damage Control as a warning sign 30:45 Episode balance talk: comedy vs drama, and why the Doorman episode hits so hard 41:00 What's next for Simon: hero-by-proxy theory, team potential, and final scores 44:40 Disney+ marketing debate: why some shows feel under-pushed and what Marvel can fix 50:35 Recommendations: The Ultimates (Deniz Camp) and revisiting Schitt's Creek 53:10 Joe's upcoming work: Doctor Doom deep cuts, Fantastic Four read-through, and the editing grind Key Takeaways Wonder Man works because it treats Simon Williams like a person first, superhero second. The show's comedy lands because the stakes stay real in the background, especially with Damage Control looming. Trevor Slattery is fully recontextualized here: still funny, but also weirdly wise and essential to Simon's growth. The Doorman episode is a standout swing that doubles as a Hollywood critique and a superhero fatigue commentary. Joe's breakdown of Simon's ionic-energy comic history highlights why Marvel rarely does strict comic-to-screen adaptation. Damage Control and the "quota" vibe point toward a wider MCU theme: institutional fear of powered people. Mutant groundwork is starting to feel less like a sudden switch and more like a slow social shift in-world. Both hosts land at a 9/10, with the only "missing point" being more about feel than a specific flaw. Memorable Quotes "There's usually never a 1 to 1 adaptation." "I didn't know that I needed more Trevor Slattery in my life. But now I do." "Mephisto is not going to be in everything." "It felt like it was made to be for an episodic TV show." "You can't help but root for Simon." Call to Action If you enjoyed this episode, make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss the next review and interview. A forty-year slow-motion disaster in higher education is reaching its climax – and Labour is left holding the bag. If young people decide a degree isn't worth the massive debt, where does that leave British cities that depend on free-spending undergraduate populations – and universities that are hooked on no-longer-welcome foreign students? Can academia expect much sympathy from graduate generations whose aspirations are held back by crushing loan repayments? And can Labour do anything about it? In a fascinating conversation Oxford Brookes history professor and education commentator Glen O'Hara walks Ros Taylor and Hannah Fearn through the unfolding mess. Abstract: “The only way to wake up Westminster and Whitehall is to have a crisis.” • Buy Glen O'Hara's book New Labour, New Britain through our affiliate bookshop and you'll help fund the podcast by earning us a small commission for every sale. In this episode, Seth Studley discusses the exhaustion many feel due to overstimulation and the impact on the nervous system. He emphasizes that this is not a personal failure but a biological response to the current world. Seth offers insights into understanding nervous system regulation, the importance of faith and peace, and practical shifts to help individuals find calm and act in alignment with their goals. Takeaways A lot of us go walking around exhausted, overstimulated and quietly overwhelmed. It's not a motivation problem; it's a nervous system problem. Our brains weren't designed for constant stimulation and chaos. Doom scrolling activates the same fear circuitry as real threats. You need a regulated nervous system, not a beverage. Jesus never rushed; He modeled peace and calm. You can't out hustle your way into peace. Your body needs proof that you're okay. Stop asking what's wrong with me; ask what has my nervous system been exposed to. Everything is okay, and you are not broken. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Send us a textWelcome to another week of the highs and the lows, the good and the bad, and the Nerd and the Murd. This week on Nerdery and Murdery, Zig explores the darker side of music with a deep dive into gothy-ish, doom-metally, darkwave-inspired sounds. From brooding atmospheres to heavy emotional weight, we talk about what defines these genres, why they resonate with so many listeners, and how darkness in music can be just as expressive as light. Then in the Murdery segment, Geoffrey covers the chilling story of Mary Ann Cotton, one of history's earliest and most disturbing serial poisoners. It is a case rooted in deception, tragedy, and the slow unraveling of a horrifying pattern, told with care and historical context.Moody music. Dark history. One unforgettable episode.Support the show

Show Notes On this week's podcast, Dan and Kris dive into the first 10 20 30 40 of 2026, but will it be good? Well, it's January, and that's never really been a big month for new game releases. But they still trudge through their notes and talk about notable releases from decades past, including some interesting Mega Man games, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and one of the worst versions of Doom ever released. Then, in Week Old News, Nintendo releases a 2 and a half minute trailer for a talking flower toy, Bubsy 4D gets a release date, Kenny Omega sort of joins Street Fighter, and some crazy YouTuber builds a Frankenstein's Monster game console that combines Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox. Finally, in the Checkpoint, Dan finally finishes Indiana Jones, but can't decide what to play next. Kris really digs Adventure of Samsara, and tries to enjoy the stunning mediocrity that is Tron Ares. Enjoy! See Our Faces!!! Reports from Shanghai's largest clothing market show vendors overwhelmed not with sales—but with returns. Retailers are sending back unsold inventory, revenues are collapsing, and wholesalers say business is down by half from last year. Consumers don't have money to spend, yet producers—following Beijing's mandates—keep making too much. Prices are slashed to clear inventory, profits shrink, wages stagnate, jobs disappear, and spending falls even further. It's the classic downward spiral of command-and-control economics. Despite officially reported growth fueled by exports, warehouses are filling, housing markets are oversupplied, youth unemployment is soaring, and demographics are rapidly deteriorating. Central planning once again proves it can't dictate consumer demand—and China is now paying the price.

San Francisco's largest mall just closed its doors—a day early, no less—after nearly 20 years of slow-motion collapse. What started as a 1.5 million square foot retail destination plummeted from $1.2 billion in value to a pathetic $133 million credit sale that nobody even wanted to bid on. We're talking about a mall so bad that human waste in the elevators increased 400%, Panda Express was literally sued to leave, and shoppers chose Amazon over risking the experience. This video covers the entire saga: the foreclosure nobody bid on, Westfield handing back the keys, and Mayor Lurie's uphill battle to figure out what to do with this massive monument to failed progressive policies. The conversion-to-housing dreamers clearly haven't done the math—retrofitting 1.5 million square feet of interior retail space with no windows makes zero economic sense. So what's next for this albatross? A soccer stadium? A permanent reminder of what happens when policy ignores reality? Drop your predictions below and subscribe for updates as this disaster unfolds. Is anyone surprised a mall known for elevator excrement couldn't compete with online shopping?

AI isn't just another tech cycle. It's colliding with geopolitics, labor markets, crypto, and creator economies all at once. In this episode of the Block Runner Podcast, we break down why the global landscape is shifting faster than most people realize. From delayed tariffs and geopolitical power struggles, to AI-driven job displacement, no-code engineering, and the rise of vibe coding, this conversation explores what actually matters beneath the noise. We connect the dots between AI infrastructure, resource bottlenecks, robotics, and why this moment feels eerily similar to early crypto. Except this time, execution is possible. We also dig into where crypto still fits, how AI agents interact with crypto rails, and why new business models like creator capital markets are emerging. To close it out, we run a live Doom deathmatch on Track to demonstrate peer-to-peer infrastructure in action, then share updates on NAT, community conviction, and why long-term alignment still wins. If you're trying to understand where AI, crypto, and creators intersect next, this episode is for you. Topics: First up, AI, colliding with geopolitics, labor markets, crypto, and creator economies all at once Next, break down why the global landscape is shifting faster than most people realize. and Finally, we run a live Doom deathmatch on Track to demonstrate peer-to-peer infrastructure in action Please like and subscribe on your favorite podcasting app! It's cold out and we're in - the gearhead goons have got gripes, and you're in the front row: the risk of snow on your roof (Don't be a Carl), the risk of snow on your walks (because shovel already), the risk of salt on your driveway (Bye bye, plants and pavement), the risk of freezing in your garage (H20 in everything), and a little bit of detail on those electric snowblowers. There's also a look at the Major Screwup (Sir!) by Costcos in Colorado, which just put diesel fuel in their gas tanks, Jeep following Ford's footsteps and ending production of the electric Wrangler, and Redhead Frankenstein's advice to remembering to laugh (and not bring a cougar to a party). Also, a reminder to take care of the folks who take care of you, because you never know when they'll not be there: an Excellent Weirdo R.I.P. for Dale the Parts Guy from Larry Miller (ne Corwin) Toyota. More: Awesome Ann and her snow shovel (because neighbor!), Jeff Bagby and his kegs, plus Dick Dale, The Professors, Man or Astro-Man and Rob Zombie's Halloween Hootenanny.

Right hand of Doom, crooked destiny and enough practical monsters to make CGI cry. This week on 3 Guys and a Flick, we kick open the door to Hellboy (2004) with full snark, zero mercy and a big red attitude. We break down Ron Perlman's iconic scowl, Selma Blair's tragic glow, del Toro's love letter to comic-book weirdness, gnarly creature effects, villian letdowns, deep-cut trivia and a spoiler-soaked brawl over fate vs. free will. Grab a cigar, pet some cats and listen responsibly—because destiny's knocking, and it doesn't care if you're ready.

Polo discusses post-Polygon living, the loss of personality-driven sites, how the Polygon experience shaped her, the reverse energies of 2025's comic movies, the muted comics conversation, recency biases, the importance of back catalogue, Worldcon, expanding the comic box, the insane number of crossovers, Harley & Ivy: Life & Crimes, expanding genres, Marvel's lack of excitement, Batman's quality, Mark Waid's eternal nature, the European comic invasion, things we're excited for in 2026, Vertigo's return, the Archie/Oni partnership, the reverse European comic invasion, Avengers: Doomsday, and more.
Can you relate to this statement: "They've done everything right financially… but still can't bring themselves to spend the money they've saved." In today's Retirement Headline, Meghaan Lurtz explains why underspending in retirement is usually rooted in psychology, not math. Hi fellow co-creators! In this episode of Feminine Power Time, we pause together to set ourselves up for the cycle ahead — not just the linear calendar year, but the deeper transition we're moving through as we rise into the next seasonal and lunar turn. This is an orientation conversation. A grounding conversation. One meant to help us stay centered, calm, and clear as the pace of the world continues to speed up. Every year at the start of a new yearly cycle - I tune in for wisdom, insight and focus for the path ahead, and then I wait until the guidance is clear. it's never on Jan 1 (for obvious reasons) ... but it's always before the lunar new year, and is so much richer because I didn't rush to follow the timeline the mainstream matrix is on. That's how we roll when guided by grace and wisdom :) As we explore what's ahead in this next cycle, I'll invite you to slow your system, tune your awareness, and work with a few practical (and powerful) ways to stay oriented — personally, relationally, and as conscious co-creators in the larger field. A few wisdom bites to listen for (and maybe write down) When the world speeds up, the wise ones slow down. Presence comes before productivity. Orientation is a practice — not a one-time insight. You don't need to do everything — you need to know your part. When you get "gooped," don't isolate — conversate. In this conversation, we explore Working with natural cycles (lunar + seasonal) to stabilize the nervous system this year Staying oriented when things feel fast, intense, or overwhelming Doom scrolling vs sanity scanning The Triangle of Sacred Transformation: release the past, stabilize in the now, create the way for the new A simple practice to clarify what you need, desire, and require for the cycle ahead
