En las calles de Washington, el miedo se ha convertido en el compañero diario de miles de inmigrantes. Las operaciones de ICE, Servicio de Control de Inmigración y Aduana de Estados Unidos, se han intensificado desde que Donald Trump decidiera el 11 de agosto el envío de militares para “combatir la delincuencia”. Desde entonces, las redadas se han vuelto una rutina que paraliza barrios enteros y en particular a la comunidad latina. Detrás de cada puerta cerrada y cada mirada esquiva, se esconden historias de miedo e incertidumbre. Pero la comunidad inmigrante de la capital de Estados Unidos intenta resistir y crecen las voces que se alzan en busca de justicia y dignidad. “Yo no he trabajado durante toda una semana porque tres veces me los encontré. Siempre uso carro, pero como están agarrando en carro y no respetan, estoy yéndo ahora en bicicleta. El sábado, iba caminando en mi ruta de siempre y se me metió un (coche) de Texas y después se me metió Migración. Iban despacito, despacito. Tuve que dar vuelta para que no me agarraran porque yo sabía que me esperaban más adelante, en la misma calle”, dice una habitante de Washington  durante una marcha de miles de personas contra la presencia de los militares. Es inmigrante desde hace 26 años en Estados Unidos y prefiere presentarse con el nombre falso de Laura para proteger su identidad. Su colega que tenía dos trabajos para poder subsistir no contó con la misma suerte. “Cuando llegamos en el turno de la mañana dijeron que ya una persona no estaba con nosotros, porque lo había agarrado Migración en la mañana, comprando pancito y café para ir a su trabajo. No le dieron oportunidad de corte ni nada”, nos cuenta. La militarización de Washington está rompiendo el tejido social  Como Laura, muchos migrantes han dejado de ir a trabajar, no van a misa, piden su mercado a domicilio y dejaron de llevar sus hijos al colegio entre otras actividades diarias. Laura, cuando se atreve a salir de su casa, no sabe si va a regresar y con lágrimas describe cómo sus hijos, ciudadanos estadounidenses, le están escribiendo mensajes constantemente para confirmar si regresó. “Siempre chequeando: ‘mami ¿llegaste a la casa?, mami ¿llegaste al trabajo?, mami ¿estás bien? Así son esos mensajes día y noche para saber. Y si no contesto, es lo más triste. Yo siempre les digo a mis hijos que si no contesto pues…. Ahora están cazando a la gente por el mero hecho de ser hispanos. En mi trabajo ya llegó dos veces Migración también. Han agarrado mucha gente. Rompen ventanas, no respetan ni los carros ni nada, sólo los sacan, los jalonean y se los llevan” explica Laura. Desde que Trump decretó el estado de emergencia por inseguridad el 11 de agosto pasado, cerca de 2.200 miembros de la guardia nacional y 500 agentes federales de ICE, FBI, HSI, ERO y la DEA están patrullando, haciendo retenes, redadas y deteniendo arbitrariamente a supuestos criminales. Es un despliegue militar que seguirá al menos hasta noviembre y que cuesta más de 1 millón de dólares al día. Cazarrecompensas al servicio de la deportación de Trump Laura cuenta que, además, hay vigilantes a sueldo, cazarrecompensas que reciben hasta 1.500 dólares por inmigrante entregado a las autoridades. “1.500 por hacer eso … Yo miré a uno que tenía un sombrero, se puso lentes negros, camisa negra y pantalón bombacho, cuando baja otro se me queda mirando con su sombrero y lentes oscuros y encapuchado y se fueron caminado a un restaurante latino. Yo no entiendo porque no quieren a la gente latina y van a buscar restaurantes latinos a comer”, nos explica. Aunque es difícil identificarlos, los cazarrecompensas tienen características comunes. Entre ellas que no visten nada oficial, se tapan sus rostros, rara vez muestran su identificación, no presentan órdenes de arresto, perfilan racialmente a los latinos, están fuertemente armados y no tienen órdenes judiciales para entrar a las casas o hacer interrogatorios. Para Elian Contreras, mexicano americano presente en la marcha por la liberación de Washington, están pasando muchas cosas graves y la gente no se entera. “Nosotros vivimos en un complejo de apartamentos en Maryland. Hace unas semanas entraron como a las tres o cuatro de la mañana, quebraron ventanas, en todos los apartamentos de al lado le pusieron cinta adhesiva Tape negro a todas las puertas. Entraron, agarraron una familia entera, ya la deportaron y todo. ¿Para qué necesitaban poner cinta adhesiva Tape negro en todas las puertas? ¿Están ocultando algo, están escondiendo algo que nosotros no queremos saber?”, se pregunta Contreras. 1.000 dólares por inmigrante indocumentado entregado La figura de cazarrecompensas no es nueva en Estados Unidos. Durante el despliegue de la Guardia Nacional en Los Ángeles, ciudadanos denunciaron su presencia y en el estado de Misuri, hay un proyecto de ley para recompensar con 1.000 dólares al que entregue a un inmigrante indocumentado. Para Julian Contreras, hermano de Elian, también ciudadano estadounidense de padres mexicanos, sus encuentros con esta policía secreta han sido desafortunados. “Les grité y les pregunté qué estaban haciendo aquí, que tengan vergüenza por vender a la gente, y sólo me miran así, ríen y mandan a los perros de la policía de DC a intimidarme para exigirme y picarme, para que yo me enoje, los toque y me arresten. Pero no me voy a dejar. Son pandilleros, solo por un dinero es suficiente para vender la gente. Como en la Biblia, cuando Judas vendió a Jesús por 20 monedas”, afirma Julian Contreras. El Departamento de Seguridad Nacional afirma que las acusaciones de que “ICE usa contratistas privados o cazadores de recompensas para realizar arrestos son falsas". Lo que sí ofrece públicamente a los nuevos agentes que se incorporan es 50.000 dólares como bono de ingreso, 60 dólares de condonación de deuda estudiantil y 10.000 dólares de bono anual a todos los empleados. Según ellos, la cifra de solicitudes ya supera las 100.000 tras las campañas de publicidad masiva en televisión y otros medios. “La gente que llevaba dos años sin salir a cenar ahora está saliendo y los restaurantes en los últimos dos días han estado más ocupados que nunca”, repite Donald Trump sobre los supuestos efectos positivos en seguridad que ha tenido su orden de militarizar la ciudad. Sin embargo, dueños de restaurantes cuentan otras versiones muy diferentes. Los restaurantes se vacían porque los clientes tienen miedo de salir  Al norte de Washington, en el barrio Latino, los restaurantes están cada vez más vacíos y muchas personas llevan semanas encerradas en sus casas evitando ser detenidos y deportados. “Hay personas que nos han llamado que quieren que les vayamos a traer su comida porque no han salido durante un mes. Hay una señora que conocí hoy día que le vino un derrame facial del nervio porque le dijeron que estaba migración en su edificio”, explica la propietaria de un restaurante en el barrio de Columbia Heights que prefirió guardar el anonimato por seguridad. La militarización de la ciudad y las detenciones arbitrarias a los migrantes ha generado un daño económico muy profundo del que demorará años en recuperarse. “Conforme empezaron las redadas migratorias, la gente empezó a tener más miedo y de ahí cayó el 30% de ventas hasta, ahorita no se ha recompuesto. Estamos peor que en pandemia. En pandemia, por lo menos la gente sale a comprar, pero ahorita el miedo se apoderó de todos los inmigrantes. Y la verdad es que los inmigrantes son los que alzan la economía, son los que compran”, explica. Al haber menos consumo, esta emprendedora necesita menos gente en su restaurante y se ve obligada a rebajar la cantidad de horas que le ofrece a sus trabajadores. “La economía está mal, la gente no tiene trabajo, no tiene cómo solventar sus gastos. ¿Cuántas horas les pueden dar a un latino? ¿30, 28 horas (semanales)? Antes hacían 30 en un turno y 30 se iban a buscar otro lado, pero ya no hay trabajo, ¡no hay!”, se lamenta. Según ella, también hay migrantes con papeles y otros ciudadanos que se aprovechan de la situación y del miedo de los indocumentados para arañarles cualquier dólar. “Lo que están haciendo es cobrar dinero para ir a traer a tu hijo a la escuela. ‘Ok, yo tengo papeles, yo puedo recoger tu niño, me pagas algo'. Es lo que están haciendo las mamás, por no salir a recoger a sus hijos a la escuela o llevarlos, porque a veces los de Migración están por la escuela, así que pagan a estas personas 20 ó 25 dólares, dependiendo del niño”, afirma. Baja a la mitad la asistencia a las misas por miedo a ser detenidos  Del total de las 2.120 personas que han detenido hasta el momento, la mitad son hispanos, según el Departamento de Justicia. Un perfilamiento que se traslada hasta en la salida de las iglesias, donde los curas han registrado al menos 8 detenciones y una reducción del 50% en la asistencia a sus misas. Sin embargo, prefirieron no hablar con los medios. Para Keya Chaterjee, directora ejecutiva de la organización ‘Free DC', callar es la peor opción ante la dictadura. “Hay personas que están aterrorizadas, que no están saliendo de sus casas y limitando sus actividades, pero no podemos dejarnos intimidar de cara a esta realidad porque los dictadores prosperan en una atmósfera de miedo y caos. Eso es lo que están tratando de incitar”, denuncia. Según Chaterjee, la militarización y la campaña de intimidación por parte de una policía secreta hace parte de una estrategia a largo plazo para no ceder el poder y acabar con la democracia. “Todos los días hay un escalamiento. Empezamos con militares que estaban sin armas, después tenían pistolas, ahora tienen rifles semiautomáticos. Todos los días ha habido un escalamiento y ahora, Stephen Miller (subdirector de políticas y asesor de seguridad nacional de Trump), el nacionalista blanco y racista en la Casa Blanca, dice que quiere mantener a DC ocupada por los militares hasta finales del 2026. ¿Y usted sabe que hay detrás de esto, cierto? La gente no se olvida de la historia y entiende que los dictadores quieren crear un estilo de ley marcial en la capital del país para suprimir a la oposición y prevenir la transferencia del poder”, explica Keya Chaterjee.  La organización Free DC recomienda cinco pasos contra la represión y el miedo. Primero, no obedecer por adelantado sin que haya justa causa para cualquier interrogatorio. Segundo apropiarse del espacio público que los agentes encubiertos no conocen tanto, tercero, mostrar solidaridad; cuarto, organizarse para saber los derechos de las personas y quinto mantenerse activo y alegre. Según ella, a pesar de la represión, mucha gente en la ciudad ha optado por una posición desafiante. "La gente está desafiando al ICE" “Las personas en DC no están tolerando esto y está desafiando al poder. Por ejemplo, cuando ICE hace retenes ilegales, tenemos a gente que se anticipa y desvía el tráfico para evitar el retén. Cuando vienen a nuestros barrios salimos a perseguirlos hasta que se vayan si somos más y todos están grabando en video a la policía y gritándoles las ilegalidades que están cometiendo”, asegura. Bajo el pretexto de la lucha contra la inseguridad y la creciente polarización, el inmigrante latino se convierte en para rayo y responsable de los problemas estructurales de Estados Unidos, un país hecho por migrantes. Sin embargo, para los hermanos Contreras, al final, no pueden arrestar a todos los migrantes. “Nos pueden arrestar a uno, pero no nos pueden arrestar a 11 millones. Los hispanos son los que trabajan más fuerte, el que limpia tus baños, el que trae tu comida, el que le sirve a tu niño, pero cuando no hay inmigrantes, esta economía se va a bajar”, dice Contreras. Para muchos, Trump quiere dar un ejemplo con los inmigrantes hispanos de lo que les pasaría a los que decidan revelarse contra de sus decisiones. Entre el miedo y el silencio, el migrante pierde sus libertades básicas de movimiento, de expresión, religiosas, económicas y de consumo. Libertades por las que tanto arriesga y que vino a buscar a un país que ya no las ofrece.

In quelle stesse acque, all'inizio della creazione è precipitato Lucifero, e lì è naufragata la nave di Ulisse, dopo che l'eroe greco aveva convinto i suoi compagni a lanciarsi oltre le Colonne d'Ercole. Il Mar Mediterraneo è invece presente nei racconti di personaggi incontrati lungo il cammino, da Francesca a Folchetto di Marsiglia, da Pier da Medicina a Sapia. Il mare nostrum si intravede anche nei miti che interagiscono con la poesia dantesca: Glauco, la Sirena, Ero e Leandro, gli Argonauti. Tuttavia, è nel tessuto metaforico che il mare fa sentire maggiormente il rumore dei suoi flutti, a partire dalla similitudine con cui si apre il poema, quella di un naufrago che scruta le acque alle quali è sopravvissuto, fino all'immagine del canto finale del Paradiso, in cui Nettuno guarda meravigliato l'ombra di Argo, la prima nave che ha solcato il suo regno. C'è poi una metafora antica che Dante rende sua e rinnova, quella della poesia come navigazione, che apre mirabilmente le ultime due cantiche e innerva l'intera struttura del poema. Quello del mare è un tema ricorrente nella Commedia, ma è presente in quasi tutte le opere di Dante; dato curioso, visto che molto probabilmente egli non ebbe mai occasione di solcarlo. Si tratta di un argomento sterminato, ricco di sfaccettature, oltre che di implicazioni letterarie e filosofiche, spesso toccato dalla critica, ma fino a oggi mai affrontato compiutamente in una monografia. Il libro di Pirovano colma questa lacuna offrendo un'analisi completa della presenza del mare, fisico e metaforico, nel corpus dantesco.Donato Pirovano è professore ordinario di filologia e critica dantesca all'Università di Milano. How are they identified? These don't normally need an xray The child will often hold their arm close to their side and refuse to use it There's usually no swelling or obvious deformity. Treatment? Reduce the radial head subluxation. There are two possible techniques: Flexion and supination. Start with the arm extended and pronated. Then supinate the forearm. Then bend the elbow up all the way. Antonio Veneziani"Il tempio dell'anima"Il Simbolo EdizioniPubblichiamo la recensione di Giorgio Ghiotti, pubblicata su VallecchiPoesia.https://vallecchipoesia.it/content/antonio-veneziani-il-tempio-dellanima-il-simbolo-2025E' una nostizia da festeggiare ogni volta che esce un nuovo libro di un vero poeta, specialmente quando, come nel caso di Antonio Veneziani, sono passati anni dal suo ultimo lavoro. L'autore del memorabile esordio Brown Sugar del '79 ha affidato alle lodevoli edizioni Il Simbolo di Maurizio Gregorini il suo ritorno in volume con Il tempio dell'anima. Ritorno importante, atteso, per chi nel tempo ha seguito di Veneziani il percorso, fatto di fedeltà alla sua ispirazione, di coerenza e – tratto sempre più raro oggi – di assoluta libertà, difesa e pretesa anche a scapito di facili posizionamenti. Se nelle raccolte precedenti il poeta ci aveva abituati a scene di sollecito amore, di notturni incontri e esperienze del corpo, sempre restituendo nei suoi versi una città fantasmatica e miserabile non estranea a ingenti dosi di tenerezza e commozione, ne Il tempio dell'anima qualcosa è mutato. Verrebbe da dire che, smessi in parte i panni del flaneur urbano dedito alla perlustrazione di lungoteveri e interni domestici carichi di segreti (splendido esempio ne sono due raccolte precedenti: Tatuaggio profondo e Canzonette stradaiole), Antonio Veneziani recupera qui un paesaggio interiore mai pacificato – impossibile per chi, come lui, vive il mondo in percentuali altissime: “sono fuori posto, fuori luogo. / È pericoloso vivere” –, ma certamente accolto e compreso in un ragionare che non è mai stato tanto cristallino, serenamente inquieto, quasi direi metafisico. Veneziani non ha paura di parlare dalla vecchiaia, come chi ancora si indigna e s'innamora, magari di un gattino “sgarrupato” salvato dalla tempesta (“Troverò una tasca, / la inventerò se occorre”), ma forse per la prima volta si intrattiene a pensare anche ai cieli, a una divinità che, pur nella non consona e addomesticata forma delle religioni, sappia farsi – come scritto con ottima intuizione da Gregorini nella nota introduttiva – culla di un infinito cui la parola e quella poetica ancor di più anela. Poesie di grande temperatura emotiva si susseguono lungo le pagine, così che ogni testo, ricomposto all'interno del disegno d'insieme, vada a comporre una tessitura di irresistibile fascino, in grado di restituire non soltanto la storia di una poesia (e quella di Veneziani è una tra le migliori che abbiamo, suo merito e nostra fortuna), ma la storia di un'anima. Anima, ben inteso, che sa farsi biografia, anima mai slegata dalla materia reale della vita. Un'anima, quella di Veneziani, celeste e terrestre insieme. C'è una sapienza in questa raccolta che non appartiene a saggi e antichi dei; è la sapienza dei balocchi, degli autodidatti della vita, dei poeti. Antonio Veneziani non rivela dall'alto per meravigliare i lettori, ma prova meraviglia nel rivelarsi. Non consiglia, non indica, si tiene ben lontano da una poesia di precetto, perché si sente lui per primo in continuo rodaggio (e qui penso a Caproni che s'ammoniva: “resta ancora tutto da dimostrare”). Così le tre sezioni centrali dell'opera (Barbaglio di amor senile, Frammenti di diario e La storia si ripete) possono leggersi davvero come un consuntivo appassionato senza mai alcuna sbavatura di un'intera vita: Grazie della premura, grazie dei consigli.Ma voi, voi non siete nel vortice chemi attraversa, né dentro i tagliche mi procuro per tangere il sanguedel mio declino. Credetemi è raccapricciante,e c'è di più, scrivo preghiere nelle pietree poi, nell'opacità della notte, le buttonel fiume.  O ancora: La mia vitaè presto raccontata:anni vissuti a zonzo, droghe smodate,labbra troppo altere per divine invocazioni.Perso in meandri etilicivolevo assoggettare il cielo.Imbecille cancellavo calendariper depistare la morte. Orariottoso scanso i vecchi selciati.  Merito di questo lavoro editoriale, l'aver posto ad apertura e chiusura del libro il recupero di lavori oramai introvabili dell'autore: dalle poesie di A Gerusalemme e Talismani al poemetto Shalom, in cui si fanno i conti, senza che mai tornino appieno e sempre in affanno com'è giusto di un'anima in cammino, con le proprie radici ebraiche. Lo stile di Antonio Veneziani è unico nel panorama contemporaneo, irretisce e libera, apre ferite e le rimargina ma mai del tutto. C'è nella sua poesia, ancora una volta, un senso di insofferenza e di pietas, una postura etica e civile mai di posa, innata nell'occhio che, osservando e registrando il mondo da una posizione liminare, riattiva e colma un ripostiglio segreto che è in ciascuno di noi, facendoci ricordare la nostra riposta e forse dimenticata riserva di umanità. Di questo noi suoi affezionati lettori gli saremo grati a lungo. Mi si permetta di spendere ancora qualche riga per rimarcare il lavoro dell'editore Il Simbolo, che a poco più di un anno dalla sua nascita tanto sta facendo nella cura attenta e rigorosa delle sue uscite, tra le quali spicca un prezioso e imprescindibile volume delle poesie di Elsa De Giorgi (L'eternità nel gelo dell'alba). Una casa editrice che intenda primariamente il lavoro editoriale come lavoro culturale non è poca cosa, oggi. In the early twentieth century, eugenics captivated scientists and the public alike, giving researchers license to exploit the infirm, the mentally ill, prisoners, Native communities and many others considered "defective" or "feebleminded" under the guise of genetics. At its center stood the Eugenics Record Office in Cold Spring Harbor, directed by Charles Davenport from 1910 to 1939. From this Long Island building emerged policies of forced sterilization and ideas that would later influence Nazi ideology. My guest is Mark A. There's optimism over the future of professional development training for teachers. A new report from the Education Review Office has found half of teachers don't know how to use what they've learned in their classroom. It highlights training as one of the biggest drivers of success. Deputy chief executive Ruth Shinoda told Mike Hosking new development for English in primary schools this year is doing the things shown to work. Kids are scooping up credits from all corners of the classroom. It's too broad and flexible, they reckon. As a result, students aren't being properly taught core subjects. The government's looking it. But there was a number in this report which should jump out at all parents and teachers. 22%. In 2024, just 22% of NCEA results came from external assessment. Which means exams. The bulk of credits come from internal assessments - stuff like essays. This means kids can use AI and all sorts to do the work for them. One in four don't bother sitting the exams because they've already got enough internal credits. I went through the NCEA system and this happened to me too - but I would never dream of skipping an exam and missing out on credits. Clearly, something has to be done. What hope do we give students if they're not being taught the basics and not being assessed properly? Marco Fogliata ha 33 anni e viene da Pumenengo, un piccolo centro di circa duemila abitanti in provincia di Bergamo. Da tre anni ha scelto di vivere su quattro ruote, trasformando un van nella sua casa e la sua passione per la fotografia in una professione che può fare in maniera itinerante. Mamma insegnante e papà commerciante, la sua è una famiglia economicamente solida. I soldi, nella narrazione familiare, sono la chiave che apre ogni possibilità di essere felici: «Il concetto di vita era questo: fai i soldi, e con i soldi potrai avere tutto quello che desideri — un buon lavoro, una famiglia, una casa. Ma, spoiler: io tutta questa felicità in casa non l'ho mai vista, nonostante ci fossero le disponibilità economiche».Negli anni dell'adolescenza, Marco cambia spesso direzione. Si iscrive a ragioneria, poi prova con l'istituto per geometri. Percorsi iniziati ma mai conclusi. Lui vuole solo una cosa: indipendenza, e la vuole presto. Così, a 18 anni inizia a lavorare e non smette più. Prima come cameriere, poi in fabbrica, dove firma un contratto a tempo indeterminato e la promessa di una vita stabile. È in quel periodo che, insieme alla sua compagna, fa il grande passo e acquista casa. Ma è proprio mentre tutto sembra andare secondo i piani che Marco inizia a sentirsi stretto in quella vita. «Ero grato di avere una casa mia, una macchina, ma allo stesso tempo facevo un tipo di lavoro in cui, man mano che aumentava la retribuzione, cresceva anche lo sconforto. Col passare degli anni ho iniziato a chiedermi: “Ma io sono felice facendo questa cosa per 8-10 ore al giorno?”».Nel frattempo, quasi per caso, durante un viaggio alle Hawaii, Marco scopre la fotografia e ci si appassiona subito. Riesce a costruirsi un buon giro di clienti e inizia a maturare un'idea che fino a poco prima sembrava impensabile: lasciare il posto fisso per dedicarsi completamente alla fotografia freelance. Ma non è solo una questione di lavoro: il desiderio di allontanarsi dalla realtà del piccolo paese si fa sempre più forte. Così, insieme alla compagna acquista un van e pianifica di trasferirsi in Spagna. Ma siamo nel 2020, e la pandemia stravolge ogni piano. Il progetto si blocca ancora prima di cominciare. E anche la loro relazione arriva a un bivio: decidono di separarsi e insieme scelgono che sarà lei a tenere la casa. Da allora, Marco vive nel suo van, sempre in movimento. Lavora come fotografo freelance e costruisce la sua quotidianità in sintonia con la natura. Nel suo stile di vita oggi non ci sono rinunce. Ma un semplice adattarsi ai bisogni attuali. «Ho imparato ad avere un tenore di vita basso. Al momento non ho famiglia e non sento vincoli. Quando ci sarà, ci saranno sicuramente spese in più da sostenere, e io mi muoverò in base a queste».

In a pre-Budget announcement, associate education minister David Seymour said he wants to overhaul and improve the attendance services charged with getting chronically absent kids back to class. The Education Minister wants to be the one taking the heat over sex education, not schools. The new draft curriculum is out for the first round of public consultation before it's written up later this year. It proposes children from Year Four learning about consent and gender stereotypes, while high schoolers learn about menstrual cycles and STIs. Erica Stanford told Mike Hosking currently, it's up to principals to go out to their community and specify what's taught. She says ERO reports found that to be very divisive, and sometimes schools and principles faced a lot of aggression from their communities over the content they taught. In his book titled “Above the Line,” Urban Meyer uses a formula to discuss this topic. He says that E + R = O. The event that takes place, plus the way you respond to that event, equals the outcome. You can't control the event that is taking place, but you can always control the way you respond to it.

BEST OF TST: The Kansas City Chiefs victory parade turned deadly and injurious to dozens of people on Valentine's Day, marking not only a shocking tragedy but a truly bloody Valentine. Strangely enough, the odd series of number patterns that appeared during Super Bowl weekend, were also present in reports of the shooting. Headline after headline reported different totals of victims - those injured, those killed, children, those being treated at hospitals - all in a manner where the numbers added to 22 and 25, the score of the big game, or to 13 or 33. These numbers appear in the inconsistent reports about the parade shooting: NBC News reported at 9:44am Thursday 15th, 23 injured and 2 taken into custody = 25. At 10:17am Yahoo reported 22 injured and 3 taken into custody = 25. An early article reported before arrests were announced that 22 were injured. The 3 arrested were out of a group of 10 questioned = 13, and 10-3 was the Halftime score of the Super Bowl. Such number synchronicity may not be a conspiracy, but instead a result of some influential force acting behind the scenes of human affairs - what Helena Blavatsky called the Secret Chiefs. The word ‘Chief' is also used in the ancient Jewish text called Talmud, where such a titled referred to anyone who stood against Israel, particularly the goyim, and how they should be killed. Tract 57a of the Talmud says their “ashes are gathered” and scattered, another odd link to Ash Wednesday.Maybe Joe Buck of ESPN, veteran play-by-play voice for "Monday Night Football," was on to something when he said this of the Super Bowl: "There's going to be some story. There's going to be something that happens because it's Vegas, and it won't stay in Vegas. It's going to be a big something that happens. I don't know what it is. I have no idea. I just think that is going to be a mess in my mind." Statement made by the KC Chiefs - calling the shooting “senseless violence” - and the KC Police Chief - “people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment” - suggest we dismiss the motivations behind these events and further live in a fantasy where no violence ever occurs: remember when a homemade gun as used to kill former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe? The shootings took place in front of 800 officers, too, and it took a few bystanders to tackle a shooter despite laws against such gun violence. California's governor immediately vomited: “We need to pass a Constitutional Amendment to prevent gun violence nationwide.” The irony here is that the 2nd Amendment gave those bystanders the right to tackle one of the shooters. It's not the first shooting at a championship parade either, as others occurred in the wake of NBA and MLB celebrations as well. If violence of this sort of is planned by those other than ‘crazies', it would make far more sense to carry it out in the parade rather than the event itself since doing so would be too costly for the leagues, advertisers, etc. On our Super Bowl show, we discussed the ER in “super” and the “o” in Bowl and Champions being a different font than the rest of the letters. In Hebrew the strange E was two of the letters BET adding to 22, while the strange R was comprised of VAV and QOPH for a total 25. This was the score of the game. ERO is also the name of the god of love and passion we call cupid, who carries a bow and arrow (ero) - pronunciation reminds us of Arrowhead Stadium and the KC Chiefs logo. ERO is the quintessential Secret Chief, influencing our love from behind the scenes. Oddly, Valentine's Day was only 3 days after the Super Bowl. E+R=O means ​Event + Response = Outcome. There are many different types of mindsets a person can choose. Servant leadership trainer Tom Thibodeau explains the difference between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset by using the E+R=O method.   

Clara Tourres ha 33 anni ed è nata e cresciuta in Francia, in una famiglia di origine spagnola. Da sette anni vive a Napoli, dove lavora come giurista in un'azienda. Fin da quando è adolescente, impara che i soldi si guadagnano con il sacrificio, e così, appena 16enne, inizia a lavorare e non smette più: fa la babysitter, l'hostess, la barista. Mette assieme 1000 euro al mese e nel frattempo, studia Legge. Da sacrificio, i soldi iniziano a significare possibilità, e Clara matura un'importante fiducia sulla sua possibilità di guadagnare e stare al mondo.  All'ultimo anno di università, parte per l'Erasmus a Roma. E qui ha una sorta di epifania circa il luogo in cui vivere: dopo la laurea, infatti, le piacerebbe restare in Italia. Tuttavia, le difficoltà italiane nell'inserimento lavorativo, la costringono a ritornare in Francia, a Parigi, dove  inizia a lavorare come giornalista. Un volta terminato il contratto a tempo determinato, gliene propongono uno a tempo indeterminato. Ma nel frattempo, una sua amica francese che lavora a Napoli, le offre il suo posto in un'associazione che opera nel terzo settore. Lei accetta senza pensarci troppo. Lì guadagna 715 euro al mese e pensa di non aver bisogno di molto di più: «Ero convinta che non avevo bisogno di soldi perché ero una persona che viveva di esperienze, non di cose fisiche». Tre anni dopo, però, Clara la pensa molto diversamente. Si è ormai resa conto che in quell'associazione non avrebbe avuto un aumento ed è andata a lavorare in un'altra, più piccola, dove le cose vanno ancora peggio e per sette mesi non riceve stipendio. Ad aiutarla nel navigare questi mesi difficili c'è il gruzzoletto che aveva messo da parte negli anni. Ma c'è anche un percorso di yoga e meditazione, che sarà fondamentale nella sua storia, perché la aiuterà a darsi il giusto valore.  E infatti, a gennaio 2020, con la pandemia alle porte, Clara riceve un'offerta di lavoro da un'azienda come giurista. E, complice il lavoro fatto sui suoi pensieri, fa una cosa totalmente inaspettata: affronta la sua prima richiesta di aumento salariale. Dai 1.250 euro che le offrono, Clara riesce ad arrivare a 1.600. Arrivata a questo punto del suo percorso, si rende conto di quanto il suo “disinteresse” per i soldi l'avesse portata a doversene preoccupare ancora di più. «Non è detto che, semplicemente perché stai facendo, ce la farai per forza, perché ci sono circostanze esterne che possono essere molto sfidanti e difficili».

Tra i suoi fan si annoveravano registi del cinema, artisti e personaggi di alto calibro. Come esponente del mondo scientifico ero bersaglio predestinato e infatti mi invitò a casa sua per farmi assistere ai suoi «esperimenti». Per mia fortuna avevo appena letto un articolo su «Le Scienze» in cui si dettagliavano gli «outs» o «forzature», strumento base nei giochi di carte. La forzatura è in effetti una finta scelta che nasconde quella occulta del mago. Ero quindi all'erta, accettai l'invito e mi trovai seduto attorno a un tavolo con altri ospiti sotto lo sguardo magnetico del Mago. Rol tirò fuori da un cassetto un mazzo di carte, lo passò agli ospiti, ingiunse loro di rimescolarlo al suono di una favolosa loquela. Alla fine il mazzo fu diviso in due e il Mago chiese all'ultimo ospite di scegliere uno dei due mazzi. Appena fu effettuata la scelta il Mago disse «allora lo scartiamo». Poteva anche dire «allora lo teniamo ». Lui sapeva ovviamente, da indizi solo a lui visibili, da quale parte stava la carta prescelta: il mazzo era ovviamente truccato e la scelta operata dall'ospite era fittizia. Alla fine saltò fuori la carta prescelta. Feci notare al mago che doveva dire prima se intendeva scegliere o scartare il mazzo prescelto. Subito cominciò a lamentarsi di un'«aura negativa» emanata dal sottoscritto. Mi diverte l'arte dei grandi illusionisti e li ammiro purché si dichiarino tali e non tentino di prendere in giro dei poveracci. L'uso fraudolento dell'arte magica, ampiamente documentato nel libro di Silvano Fuso, è purtroppo diffusamente impiegato per ingannare la povera gente. Occorre anche prestare attenzione ai cosiddetti miracoli religiosi di cui si occupa in dettaglio lo stesso Fuso e che appartengono alla storia di tutte le religioni. Abbiamo il dovere morale di dire pane al pane e di mettere in guardia gli sprovveduti. In questo compito è essenziale e benvenuta l'opera degli esperti. Al di là del mondo magico e religioso, tante altre false credenze circolano nella nostra società: leggende, complotti inesistenti, terapie miracolistiche, rischi immaginari, mode insensate e tecnologie illusorie. Elemento comune di tutte queste false credenze è una profonda ignoranza in fatto di scienza e una preoccupante e ingiustificata diffidenza nei confronti di essa. Il libro di Silvano Fuso cerca di fare chiarezza su tutto ciò. Vorrei che esso ricevesse la dovuta attenzione soprattutto tra i giovani e, perché no, anche nelle scuole. More schools are dropping NCEA Level 1. An Education Review Office review has found it's not a fair or reliable measure of knowledge and skills, and needs substantial change. Less than three-quarters of schools plan to offer NCEA Level 1 next year. ERO's Ruth Shinoda told Mike Hosking that in more affluent communities, it's less than half. The minister in charge of curbing truancy is concerned students are "missing out on valuable learning time" by joining a march to parliament in protest at his controverisal Treaty Principles Bill. Hīkoi mō te Tiriti set off from Cape Reinga on Monday and moved through Auckland today, with thousands marching over the Harbour Bridge and onto Bastion point. Along the way hundreds of school aged children have joined the march, some in their uniforms, during school hours. Several schools are marking it as a 'justifed absence' and say students are being educated in voicing their opinions. Last month it was revealed a staggering 80,000 students were MIA for more than three weeks of term two this year, with ERO saying it's a crisis. Today, Associate Education Minister David Seymour has also warned teachers about maintaining political neutrality. President of the Secondary Principals Association Vaughan Couillault spoke to Lisa Owen.

The Education Review Office says there's a chronic absence crisis. This Term 2, one in ten students were chronically absent. Chronic absence has doubled in secondary schools since 2015, and almost tripling in primary schools. By age 20, chronically absent students can cost the state three times more than a student who went to school. ERO Ruth Shinoda told Mike Hosking the education they're missing out on damages their life chances. She says less than half get NCEA level two, and by age 25 almost half are receiving a benefit rather than working. Shinoda told Hosking the contributing factors are long-standing. She says half of schools don't refer to attendance services because they're often not effective as they're overwhelmed, with some having 500 students to one worker. A recent report from the education review office (ERO) and the New Zealand Medical Journal (NZMJ) has found that early childhood teachers are seeing more children than ever with poor language skills. This, in part due to Covid-19 and increasingly prevalent screen and device usage. Low language and speaking skills can have further implications down the line as children become older, this is quite jarring as New Zealand is a first world country with high access to healthcare and childcare. Sasha spoke to professional research fellow in the department of General Practice and Primary Care, Samantha Marsh, about the implications of early childhood screen use and impacts of Covid-19 on children.

The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Ikpanwosa Ero live from Canada. Born in Nigeria, is classified as a black female with the condition of albinism. This genetic mutation results in melanin deficiency and phenotypical characteristics often associated with people classified as White - pale skin and hair. Ero is an attorney by training and the first United Nations Independent Expert on the enjoyment of human rights by persons with albinism. Ikponwosa Ero visits the University of Washington to discuss: “Human Rights in Practice: An overview of the journey to protect people with albinism in Africa and globally” Ero was born in Nigeria and migrated to Canada in her teens. She's classified as a non-white female with albinism - a genetic defect which manifests as a person lacking melanin, skin pigmentation. "Ms. Ero is a lawyer by training and the first United Nations Independent Expert on the enjoyment of human rights by persons with albinism. Her experiences and impact span across multiple continents over more than a decade of policy research and advocacy, having worked with several government agencies and organizations to further the rights of persons with albinism, and being a leader in more than twenty international human rights resolutions at both the United Nations and the African Union." Dr. Frances Cress Welsing often discuss the significance of albinism in relation to her theory of White Genetic Annihilation. She theorized that individuals classified as White are also melanin deficient, and their lack of pigmentation partly motivates their mistreatment of dark skinned people - especially those classified as black. Gus and C.O.W.S. listeners were able to ask a number of questions. Ms. Ero explained the "intrigue" or thrill associated with publicizing how dark skinned Africans abuse and sometimes butcher African people with albinism. We also discussed an alleged "white privilege" that she receives as a result of looking phenotypically similar to people classified as White. Ms. Ero acknowledged their may be some true to this statement. There was a substantial informal discussion following the main event, and Gus was able to ask even more questions. During this time, Ms. Ero explained that when she moved to Canada in her teens, an "Indian" person called her a "White nigger."
