In this episode of our Apologetics series, we're joined by Lisa Fields, the founder of the Jude 3 Project, whose mission is “to help the Christian community know what they believe and why they believe it. Distinctive in its strong emphasis in equipping those of African descent in the United States and abroad.” In our conversation, Lisa tells us a little bit of her journey, how she first got into apologetics, and why she decided to start the Jude 3 Project. As Lisa explains, part of the reason is to address the unique apologetic concerns of Black Community. Questions like whether God exists is always an important apologetic discussion, but most Black people in America do believe in God and so more germane topic need to be explored, such as whether Christianity is just “a white man's religion.” Lisa explain that Jude 3 is also partly an attempt to ensure that Black voices are represented on all the common apologetics concerns and issues. As the conversation progresses we touch on some additional insights that Black Apologetics provides for the broader apologetic enterprise, such as unique insights on the Problem of Evil, drawing upon a history of suffering re: slavery, racism, and systemic oppression. Team members on the episode from The Two Cities include: Dr. Amber Bowen, Rev. Daniel Parham, Dr. Chris Porter, and Dr. John Anthony Dunne.

Lisa Brown Roberts joins Hilary and Jason again this week alongside her husband of 35 years, Erik Roberts (Hilary's brother), to talk about their relationship and what they've done to make it last so long. As Lisa mentioned on last week's episode, things weren't always smooth sailing within their marriage, but looking back, they discuss how each of them recognizing they needed to work on themselves began to strengthen their marriage. Both Lisa and Erik sought therapy individually for difficult life situations going on at the time and began going to couples therapy as well to address how they could better communicate amongst themselves. Erik stresses how important therapy has been in both he and Lisa's life and believes it can really help give you the outside perspective you need when going through hard times. Lisa and Erik also discuss how having their son helped them learn how to better communicate and found that he was teaching them as much as they believed they were teaching him. After 35 years of marriage, Lisa and Erik are in as good a place as they could have imagined and still go to therapy on the regular. They believe communication is key and without therapy both on an individual basis and in a couples setting, they don't know where they would be today.   https://www.lisabrownroberts.com/   Instagram: @lisabrownroberts   Twitter: @LBrownRoberts     For more information on the Red Songbird Foundation, please visit:   redsongbird.org   If you are interested in donating to the Red Songbird Foundation, please visit:   redsongbird.org/donate   Follow us on Instagram at: @redsongbirdfoundation     New episode every Thursday!   Check us out on YouTube every Friday! Let The Journey Begin Podcast     Please subscribe, rate, and review!   Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Today, I am excited to announce our very special guest, Sarah Dyson, PhD. I want to introduce you to Sarah who is our new lead researcher here at Organize 365. She is the reason we have been able to launch our research efforts. Sarah has been a listener since 2014 and she has done the 100 Day Program and uses several Friday Workboxes.  Sarah is passionate about research because, as she explains, it can be used to find evidence and data to solve almost any problem. After Episode 365, she reached out to Lisa to offer her services and experience to assist Organize 365 to conduct empirical research to prove that the Organize 365 systems work. She has helped us pivot from business research to real, rigorous, significant, academic research. As Lisa explains, Organize 365 has a great foundation and is building the systems to support what is coming, but we definitely need the help of our audience and supporters to bring our mission and vision to life. Sarah is one of many people who have stepped up to join us - and there's always room for more! Sarah and Lisa share about the IRB, literature review, survey construction, and some specific definitions we used in the research. One of the most mind blowing things is that there are no standard definitions of “housework” in the US. Sarah and I talk about four major kinds of housework that we focused on in this first research study - cleaning, maintenance, tasks of daily living, and organization were all defined and studied separately. We also talk quite a bit about how gender roles, depression, and anxiety all play into how we deal with housework. Lisa Berger, Director of Tourism for Ulster County, has more than twenty years of government experience, starting at Ulster County Tourism as the Director of Marketing and Group Sales. She was promoted to Deputy Director in four years, and from there, was asked to lead the county’s Office of Employment and Training and Workforce Development Board. Over the next six years, Lisa worked with businesses, economic development, and education leaders to create policies and programs that help ensure that the labor force meets the needs of local businesses and industry. Berger became the Director of Ulster County’s Department of Economic Development in September 0f 2019, where she developed strategies that promote sustainable economic growth, which will help all Ulster County residents. In November 2020, Lisa found herself back at the county’s Tourism Department, this time as the Director. She brings an innovative, creative flair for robust partnerships and original promotional campaigns. Berger is currently looking at reinventing the standard travel guide, making it a meaningful touchstone for the creation of authentic experiences. On this episode of Destination on the Left, I talk with Lisa Berger about transferable skills and why it’s so critical to spread the word about various routes into a successful career in the tourism industry. As Lisa explains, we need to show people the path to follow and where being a travel and tourism professional could lead them. We also dive deep into Lisa’s plans for Ulster County to lead recovery in the tourism sector – including expanding the visitor base, building partnerships, and helping travelers make a deeper connection with the experiences available in the area. What You Will Learn: How transferable skills and the ability to use previous experience and a passion for helping your community can lead to a successful career in tourism Why the tourism industry needs to promote the principles of diversity, equality, and inclusion Some of the things that Lisa is working on to help Ulster County lead the way into recovery Lisa’s new travel guide project with curated experiences that will help expand their visitor base How Lisa is making partnerships work for businesses, communities, and visitors and why they are stronger together Why building deeper connections through partnerships and with their visitors is driving Lisa’s approach to recovery Making Deeper Connections Lisa shares her passion for finding and fostering deeper connections between visitors and what Ulster County offers in terms of local activities, arts, and experiences. She shares the region’s plans for expanding their visitor base by shifting the focus onto the cultural heritage traveler and looking at their history as a center for art and music. The county’s plan to really speak to a diverse audience in a welcoming way, to let them know that they’re going to feel comfortable, is at the heart of Lisa’s plans for moving forward into the future. A Rising Tide Lifts All Boats Cooperation is also one of the key principles of Lisa’s roadmap to leading recovery in the tourist centers of her region. Integral to their plans to build partnerships and find ways for visitors to connect with the region is their carefully curated travel guide — complete with COVID-safe QR codes — which will showcase the unique partnerships that the county has built so they can offer visitors more recreation opportunities than ever before. Lisa also outlines her philosophy of creating connections by asking businesses in the tourism sector what they feel they need from her department, listening, and working to give them what will help them most. The docs were just trying to find medications to mask the symptoms, instead of diagnosing the actual problem. She finally had to take her health into her own hands by researching her medications that she was on, and getting answers for herself. As Lisa started to advocate for herself, she was getting the run around from her doctors, leaving her with more questions than answers. Her health deteriorated so badly, that she thought she was going to die. She found out that part of her health deteriorating was due to medical negligence. She finally decided to get a whole knew medical team, that she was going to interview and when she started being taken off medication, she soon realized that these medications were masking symptoms of severe POTS and EDS, as well as a major heart defect from birth! He too talked about the weird new Heinz sauces Lisa discovered grocery shopping. Coincidence, they think not!! Lisa mentions Kelly's son Joaquin is going to Michigan and thinks she had a hand in that, nope not kidding! The ladies weigh in about how they feel about showing or shaving armpit hair, the Grammys were boring, the Boom Baby Bakery has been invited to a sandwich competition, what smells bring back memories of your youth, weighted hula hooping and what Saskatoon is famous for. Lisa shares her rage about passwords and unfortunately decides to share her favs with the rest of us! She just made some work for John!! As Lisa and I continue to dive into the hearts of the next generation, we are deeply concerned with the amount of therapy, programs, medications, etc. that seem to be the excessive norm. Make sure and hear our hearts; we are all for therapy and even medication when it is done professionally and for a specific purpose. We have both gone through and believe in God-given therapy. And, we are all for meds when prescribed correctly and for a season of time. The concern is the "Empire" training that we see in much of the therapy out there, (meaning therapists that are trained to keep you stuck or coming back for more and more), and, the "Bandages" we put on our pain instead of learning to own it, learn from it and allowing the pain to transform us into a healed warrior. It is important to deal with past issues and wounds, it is even more important to know how to allow what has happened to us to become such a part of our healing story that we transform every life around us... as coaches, we want to see your marriage, your singleness, your hearts look like the garden of Eden. You have been victimized, and, you are not a victim! Transformed people, transform people. Part-2 - Emotions and Spirit - How to war for your mental health!

Where do you want to go in the next 12 months? If we are a year from today and we are looking back over the past year, what would need to happen for you to be happy with your results? This is where your goals begin. CREATE SPECIFIC GOALS Be specific as you set your goals. How many downloads would be a success? If you have a goal to make money with your podcast, how much? What is the timeframe? When you are specific with your goals, you are able to visualize that victory. What are you selling? Do the math. How much do you need to sell to reach your specific goal? As the old saying goes, when you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there. Let’s not wander through the next year. Set specific goals. Then, take specific action to reach those goals. Let’s say you have a goal to lose weight. At the end of the year, your weight has gone from 234 pounds to 232 pounds, did you reach your goal? You lost two pounds. You lost weight. Is that a success? Possibly. But probably not quite what you were expecting. Without a specific goal, you will not be able to make a big difference in your journey. CRUNCH THE NUMBERS Do you want to grow your downloads? What is that number? What does growth look like? Do you want to make money with your podcast? How much? How will you do that? You need to crunch the numbers to define your actions. If you haven’t clearly defined your goal, you can’t make the numbers work. You haven’t determined the sum of the actions yet. If you want to grow your listeners, pick a number. Let’s suppose you want to grow your downloads by an average of 50 downloads per episode. How many subscribers do you need to attract to your podcast each week? About 12. 50 downloads divided by 4 weeks is a touch over 12. About two a day. Now that we have worked the numbers, we can figure out the actions that will help us attract two subscribers a day. How much money do you want to make with your podcast? Do the math and figure out what that would equal per week. Then, find something to sell that could bring in that income. Just crunch the numbers. Break it down. Once you break it down, determine the steps you need to take to help you reach those goals. FREE TRAINING I can help you put all of this together. Join me for a free training on Tuesday called "6 Ways To Make Money With Your Podcast". In this workshop, I will walk you through the process of creating your strategy. And, it’s free. Sign up at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/growth. If you haven’t set your goals, you will get the same thing in 2021 that you’ve been getting for the last few years. No specific results. Very little progress toward your dreams. More frustration. Spend an hour with me and let me help you lay it out. Sign up at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/growth. Stories of Inspiring Joy

Shunia is a duo that combines addictive melodies, ancient chants and polycultural rhythms into a sound that feels both new and timeless. Their music captures and conveys deep energies and spirit. The state of "shunia" means stillness, receptivity. A stillness of power, not passivity. Shunia's members, Lisa Reagan and Suzanne Jackson, combine their influences, inspirations and experiences to form genre-defying music with the power to transform and to connect you to the energy within and around you. It can put you in touch with something as simple as your five senses or as mysterious as the infinite. Experience the music of Shunia, it will transport you. In today's new episode, Lisa Reagan shares her journey to Shunia through yoga and chanting, how she released control and allowed a magical world to open up before her, and how she and Suzanne came together. As Lisa so beautifully shares, she realized in the end there really is no other choice than to trust the process, and to let go and trust the higher intelligence that keeps this whole universe going. For Lisa, it meant to believe in something out there that was so great, that all she had to do was get out of the way and allow that intelligence to come through and guide her. Lisa's story is a beautiful reminder of the power of releasing fear, allowing energy to flow through us, and what happens when we trust the sacred worlds that exist within. It's this experience and this knowing that inspired Lisa to start the group Shunia, because she wanted to share this music with others and give them the gift of this magical tool of chanting and sound. Following the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd earlier this year, companies and organizations across the world came out with statements expressing their solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. The silence of those who chose not to speak out against racism echoed loudly through society. However, for some of the companies, dipping their toes in social responsibility through their solidarity statements appeared rushed, frantic, and poorly planned - like throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping some of it sticks. As Lisa and Shaunna discussed in our first episode, DEI work must be done with a phased approach; built both from the ground up and from the top down to facilitate actual change within an organization. This is not work that can be done by haphazardly forming diversity committees as “window dressing” to show that an organization is trying to do something. It is imperative that inclusivity and cultural change are embedded into an organization’s values and baked into its long-term strategic plan. It cannot just be an add-on or afterthought. As members of these organizations, and of endurance sport more broadly, we have to be visionaries who can “think down the street and around the corner” to anticipate changes and growth. In our episode this week Shaunna and Lisa challenge us as endurance athletes to ask ourselves: What does it mean to be a socially responsible endurance sports company? They remind us that it will take time to work toward these answers, but it is imperative we do this work to make our sport a safer and more inclusive space. We also have a voicemail from a listener this week! If you have questions, comments, or voicemails send them to info@unphasedpodcast.

Yet, as a species, humans have lost the ability to breathe correctly, with grave consequences. In his book, BREATH: The New Science of a Lost Art , Nestor travels the world to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. Then a conversation with founder of Organize365 Lisa Woodruff. As Lisa points out, Americans are drowning in paper. We keep stacks of it on the kitchen counter, stash it in drawers, and store file cabinets full of documents. (In fact, one file cabinet can hold 18,000 sheets of paper. Yikes.) In her new book, The Paper Solution: What to Shred, What to Save, and How to Stop It from Taking Over Your Life , Woodruff delivers a proven, step-by-step guide to decluttering the paper in our lives and sorting what's left behind

In this episode of the Postural Restoration Podcast I sit down with Lisa Mangino, PT, DPT, PCS, C/NDT, PRC. Lisa graduated from Duke University earning a Masters in physical therapy in 1999 and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2000 as part of the first Doctoral class. During her doctoral program Lisa had the opportunity to get involved with a clinical affiliation in Pediatrics and subsequently her passion for clinical treatment within this population grew. During her undergraduate years Lisa played Lacrosse at Penn State and always saw herself working in a Sports Rehabilitation setting, however her love for Pediatrics grew and she has continued working with this population since. Following the completion of her PT degrees Lisa continued her journey at the University working in various pediatric settings. Her time at Duke would expose her to acute care, home health, and outpatient PT through the Duke University Medical Center.Lisa walks us through her early clinical years and some of the common diagnosis’s, treatments and interventions used to treat a wide-ranging spectrum of gross motor limitations with early childhood Development. Through the management of her own dysfunction and seeking help from other clinicians for her personal limitations and injuries, Lisa found out about the Postural Restoration Institute through colleague Kim Keyser, PT, PRC. By listening to others dialogue about PRI within the clinic, Lisa became eager to learn the concepts that others around her were beginning to learn. This eventually led her to her first Myokinematics course in 2009 with James Anderson. She quickly began using these concepts including respiration as a neurological tool to treat tightness and other symptoms commonly addressed through stretching at the time. As Lisa continued her education with the institute she would later take a course at Advance Physical Therapy in Chapel Hill who at the time happened to be looking to add a new PT to their team. In 2014 Lisa joined Susan Henning, Jean Masse and Joe Belding at Advance Physical Therapy and began structuring her own Pediatric program. In the same year she went on to earn her PRC while becoming certified in Schroth based Scoliosis training and continues to use this method in the treatment and prevention of Pediatric Scoliosis while integrating PRI concepts. Lisa has always had the desire to teach others throughout her life and through the integration of PRI into her daily activities began thinking about the possibility of some day sharing this passion with others. After several years of creating and compiling numerous Pediatric PRI based Play activities and tests, in 2019 Lisa taught the first PRI Integration for Pediatrics Affiliate course under the guidance and mentorship of James Anderson. Lisa discusses the layout and incorporation of these activities within the Pediatrics course as well as the general course layout and structure, specifically highlighting categories of more involved vs. less involved activities and the overall outcome goals of specific desired sequential movement levels (DSM) that are discussed during these two days. Lisa is excited to offer this course as a live stream for the first time this November and continue to share her experience with others.

For this episode, I interviewed Lisa Smosarski. Lisa is the Editor in Chief and Board Director of Stylist magazine. Stylist is a free weekly magazine for women, known for its fashion, beauty, people and careers news. Over the years, it has featured Hollywood stars such as Angelina Jolie, Penélope Cruz, Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston on the cover as well as Hillary Clinton, comedian Tina Fey, activist Emma González and classicist Mary Beard.I’ve always been a big fan of this magazine, from the very moment they started in 2009 they have set out a very different vision to other women’s magazines. As Lisa explains during our conversation, their aim is to treat women differently; intelligently. With no paparazzi photos, no gossip, no diets, no mumbo jumbo. It’s all about creating well-researched, thought-provoking articles for multifaceted women. 11 years on, the magazine continues to live up to that motto, and you can see why with Lisa at the helm. She says the answer for this success is that they listen and constantly try to adapt to their audience needs. She’s also not afraid of her gung-ho attitude and she is prepared to break the rules of publishing, however with a hint pragmatism and a great team to help support her vision. As usual with the podcast, we chart her entire career journey from when she fell in love with journalism as a teenager to landing in the magazine world and being made editor at the age of just 25. Finally, I get to hear the fascinating story behind Stylist and what it’s like to run – she even shares her story on how she got to work directly with Hilary Clinton on an exclusive Stylist edition.

In this episode, we introduce you to our newest Filene Fellow for the Center of Excellence for Consumer Financial Lives in Transition. Dr. Lisa Servon is the Kevin and Erica Penn Presidential Professor and Chair of City and Regional Planning at the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design. The Center for Consumer Financial Lives in Transition studies the changing financial lives and livelihoods of consumers, new forms of economic struggle and financial fragility, and how these changes impact the North American credit union system. As Lisa shares in this interview -- "The work from this center will help credit unions serve people facing different kinds of transitions – income volatility, retirement, physical health and inequalities. If we can understand the frequency of these kinds of transitions and when people are going through them, we may be able to help alleviate the financial burdens that have been historically created.” One thing of note about this interview – we recorded this in March, before we knew as much about what would soon unfold with the COVID-19 pandemic, so in a way, it is a bit of a time capsule look at the way things used to be…we recorded together in our small podcast studio, something unlikely to happen as such again for a long time. But still, the ideas and challenges Lisa talks about are only ever more relevant today for having lived through this pandemic and being where we are at with it all now. Stick around until the end to hear Lisa’s answer to her provocative question that led her to start one of her main research pursuits -- if alternative financial services are so bad for people, then why are so many people using them? – There’s got to be a better reason than that people are stupid.

One of the greatest benefits of the Network Marketing opportunity is the way it can facilitate and empower lifestyle design. If that's a term you're not familiar with, you're in for a treat. This video conversation features successful businesswoman and lifestyle design coach, Lisa DeMayo. Her story is one of difficulty and hardship turned to joy and she shares some of the pivotal moments in her story during this conversation with David T.S. Wood.   Take a deep breath. Stop to intentionally open your heart and mind. If you come to this conversation in that posture, you'll be inspired, challenged, and equipped to begin taking steps that help you design the life you want.   You will want to hear this episode if you are interested in...   What it means to engage in lifestyle design Developing personal adaptability [4:37] Learning to use hardship to your advantage [11:01] How to design your life as you want in every circumstance [16:20] Making truthful statements that empower your life [24:01] Lisa's first steps to designing her life and changing what she didn't want [30:34] How to choose joy and deal with sadness and loss [36:56] Finding a way to take extreme responsibility for your life [43:21] Releasing the burden of shame and guilt [50:45] Hearing Lisa's challenge to you for moving your life forward [53:30]   People who choose to view hard things as opportunities will flourish   As Lisa says during this conversation, “None of us gets out of life alive.” We know how the story ends so if we are wise, we'll take the time to figure out how to make the most of the time we have. Both Lisa and David have learned—through both joyous and extremely painful circumstances—that everything that comes into our lives is an opportunity to grow and ultimately flourish.   Lisa specifically points out that the hard times, though we typically want to avoid them or escape them as soon as possible, are some of the best opportunities for designing the life we want. They open a doorway to self-discovery, growth, and resilience like nothing else.   Learn to design your life in the midst of every circumstance   When we talk about lifestyle design what we're addressing is the inner compulsion all of us have to live the kind of life we want to live. We want to have a sense of control, a sense of direction over the course of our own lives. The good news is that while we can't control the circumstances that come into our lives, we can control the way we respond to them.   Did you get that? Our RESPONSE to the events of our lives is what has the greatest impact on the overall direction of our lives. What is the best response?   Lisa says a “can do” attitude that sees the difficulty as an opportunity is vital. Use the circumstances presented to you as tools to provide further insight into your own thinking, feeling, and default responses, and make intentional positive changes to what you find. Little by little you can chip away at old habits of thinking and feeling that have been unproductive and unhelpful. Keep listening… Lisa provides a challenging exercise you can implement immediately.   Lisa's challenge: Take the first steps to free yourself from your limitations   Most of us know it, but don't care to admit that we have emotional baggage, limiting beliefs, and bad habits that keep us stuck, generate consistent patterns of inner frustration, and push us to the brink. Lisa's recommended exercise (shared near the end of the conversation) is aimed at helping you take the first steps out of that place.   STEP ONE: Take out a notebook or journal and begin brain-dumping all of your “emotional stuckness.” Don't stop, keep writing, get it all out. It may take as much as a few hours but will be well worth the investment. As you do this, express every pain, every regret, every resentment, every lack of forgiveness, every bitterness that you feel. You need to get them out of your system and onto paper so you can see them and admit that they exist.   And don't worry… you will burn this list or shred it to tiny bits once you're done. Nobody else ever has to see it.   STEP TWO: After you've admitted what's on the page (and have destroyed it as a symbol of leaving it all behind you), compose a letter to your younger self. Give yourself advice, based on what you've discovered in the previous exercise, about how to live a better life, how to deal with hurts and pains more effectively, and how to embrace attitudes that empower your life rather than inhibit it.   Lisa explains the exercise in detail, so be sure you take the time to invest in your own lifestyle design by watching the video of this great conversation!   Resources & People Mentioned   Brene Brown Zig Ziglar Dale Carnagie Napoleon Hill Tony Robbins - course: Date With Destiny   Connect with Lisa DeMayo   Lisa DeMayo on Instagram: @lisademayo Follow Lisa on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LisaDeMayoCoach Lisa's book: The Art Of Getting What You Want

Hear how women can build better businesses that thrive!   I was hunting around for leading women in the financial services sector as I was writing my book about exceptional women smashing the myths of what women can and cannot do. Lisa Caputo’s name came up and having been an ex-Citibanker for many years, I was interested in what she had done there for women. Lisa's entire career has been amazing, and as a powerful role model, her story should be told. I wanted to share her story with others, both men and women, to celebrate how women can build better, together. In our podcast, she talks about her own personal growth and those who helped her on her journey. Listen in; I know you'll learn so much. This is about much more than just women and financial services It is about how Lisa has been part of the transformation of this country over the past several decades, helping craft the voices of different presidents and presidential candidates, and helping us better understand what was happening at the time. Her role in industry, whether at Disney or Citi or Travelers, has been equally impressive as she has built businesses and helped change them. An early career in politics As Lisa will share with you, after graduate school she was highly influenced by one of her professors and decided to look for a job in government, becoming the national issues press secretary during the 1988 Dukakis-Bentsen presidential campaign. Next, she became press secretary to US Senator Tim Wirth of Colorado and US Representative Bob Traxler of Michigan. At the 1992 Democratic National Convention, she ran Al Gore's media operations. After working on the 1992 Clinton-Gore campaign, she was then asked to become Hillary Clinton's press secretary, at the age of 27. She oversaw the communications and media relations operations for the First Lady and the First Family, as well as serving as chief spokesperson and deputy assistant to President Bill Clinton. In 2008, she was a senior advisor to Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, frequently being seen on CNN, MSNBC and other TV networks, providing analysis on the 2008 and 2016 presidential races. Welcome to Episode 5 of Intuitive Queens podcast. My name is Mara, I am The Intuition Queen and I have created this podcast to inspire and help you take-action to find and live your purpose.   In this episode, I am interviewing Lisa Reck who is the best-selling author of the book BREAKING THROUGH THE STORM and a personal blogger.   Lisa talks about how a few years ago she was doing some research to move forward in her life as she felt a bit stuck, she wasn’t sure what to do, how to move forward.   In the meantime, she was reading the book THE SUCCESS PRINCIPLE, from Jack Canfield and something inside her told her she had to write a book.   She immediately knew what the book was going to be about.   Her brother had been murdered just after having finished college and Lisa was only 11 when that happened. She tells us how she always had this desire to finish his life, in some way, and this book was going to be her way to do it.   She started writing with the intention to self-publish it but not telling anybody. She was afraid of what people might have said, thought of her, especially her family.   Little did she know that writing this book became the most powerful healing practise for her, realising that there were still a lot of things she had not healed from that terrible day.   As Lisa says, that one event had a ripple effect in her life as that brought her parents to divorce and her mother to fall into a lifelong depression that is still battling with today and that Lisa has to come to terms with, every day.   As the first draft of the book was ready and with the editor, she attended a week-long seminar with Jack Canfield, called Breakthrough to Success and that changed her perception about the book.   At Breakthrough to Success she realised that her book could help other people that had gone through a tragedy and needed inspiration to breakthrough pain and find a way to move forward.   Lisa broke through her fear of what other people would think of her and she decided to use her experience to empower people. She then rewrote the book and divided it in 3 parts.   Her story – the reader story and Our story; how can we, human, we as a society help other people to what we have experienced, what we have gone through.   Lisa talks a lot about the power of gratitude and forgiveness and how using them she was able to overcome the pain and transform her life in a way that could serve other people.   She felt relieved and even more inspired when she saw the reaction of the readers and understood the power of her story and her book.   This led her to continue her journey into personal development, which brought Lisa to become a personal blogger. Every week she writes a blog to help people with mindset, clarity, setting goals and manifestation.   As people continue to inspire her, she is now working on co-writing a new book called OUR UNFINISHED LIFE, to continue to inspire and help people move on in life and she is looking for stories, your stories!   Lisa and her co-author Dellann, are currently collecting stories.   Have you had a tragedy or a big obstacle in your life that you manage to overcome? How did you do that? How did it help you to become the person you are today? What is your story? Are you using your story to help others?   Listen to the full episode on itunes and spotify, or watch it on my you tube @theintuiitionqueen, to learn more about Lisa and her journey into healing from a personal tragedy and how she finds strength and inspiration helping others.       Where to find us:   LISA RECK   Blog:  http://www.theimperfectlyperfectlife.com Instagram: @theimperfectlyperfeclylife   To submit your story for the upcoming book OUR UNFINISHED LIFE, write to: Lisa@lisareck.com        THE INTUITION QUEEN:   Website: https://www.theintuitionqueen.comDownload my FREE guide “7 ways to use your intuition to feel more confident in your career”   Fb:https://www.facebook.com/theintuitionqueen/ Join my Fb Group to meet likeminded people and receive free training:https://www.facebook.com/groups/passionpowerandpurpose/ IG: https://www.instagram.com/the_intuition_queen/

" I allowed my previous work experience in the corporate world to become a platform, from which I could move into developing my training brand…" Step off slowly Before you ‘jump’ into starting your training business, it’s important to consider the reasons why you want to make this bold and ambitious move. Some people dislike the constraints of a ‘j-o-b’ and feel that taking the leap into starting their own training brand will turn everything around. So, before you feel tempted to ‘dive-in’, here are 6 basic questions to ask yourself: Are there benefits, which you are leaving behind and can you live without them? Do you really have to make a ‘break’ now or could you gently ‘transition’ instead? What would a strategic, clever (slow) exit plan from your corporate role look like? What is the ethical way to leverage your existing job to prepare you for success? What will you do to you keep your current professional relationships intact? Which skills can you ‘take’ with you or leverage to get your first pieces of work?   As Lisa tells us: “I think it’s really important, that if you have spent a long time in a particular field and have been quite successful in that field, that you ‘leverage’ it….” “Don’t just say ‘oh no, I don’t want to do that anymore because I am a coach now or I am a trainer now….”  “Well, actually, you can train in the things that you did really well and this allows people to see you in the same area…”   The key point is to ‘step-off’ on your time and to your agenda… not to ‘jump off’ or to be pushed out on the basis of some one else’s agenda. Make sense? Now listen to the full episode to learn more. Biggest takeaways for you today:  How working in marketing gave Lisa the skills to start her training brand How you can leave your current role in a way that sets you up for success How you can get onto the panel of training providers in corporate Why going to networking events is absolutely essential for you How Lisa has used MBSR in her portfolio of training services Why you need to build a network of other trainers to help you What Lisa learns from going to sales meetings with prospects How Lisa has survived the difficult years of starting her business Now listen to the rest of the episode to get the rest! In the second part of my conversation with Lisa Bonnet, Senior Interior Designer at the prestigious e4h -  Environments for Health Architecture, Lisa discusses the advancements in surface products in the hospital space that have contributed to the reduction of Hospital-Acquired Infections. In older hospitals, countertops around sinks have traditionally been unhygienic areas where bacteria and other icky stuff tend to hang out. As Lisa shares, research has shown that with the introduction of revolutionary products like seamless, solid surface and antibacterial countertops that can be shaped and curved to meet the aesthetic and code requirements of the hospital and the design team, HAI’s have been significantly reduced. Lisa wrote an article about this subject in Medical Construction and Design Magazine entitled, How Sterile is Too Sterile? She unpacks that article more here in part 2 of the episode. In this episode you will learn: Some of the biggest successes are some of the smallest details on a project. How e4h studies ALL the nuances of a project, for example, where the patient’s empty suitcase is placed in the hospital room, so it is out of the staff’s way. In the 90’s, the industry started using products that had soft, organic textures and wood look products to provide more of a hospitality or residential aesthetic. That is still common today as a result of patient input and competition among hospitals that desire this aesthetic. How seamless, solid surface and antibacterial countertops that can be shaped and curved to meet the aesthetic and code requirements of the hospital and the design team have significantly helped reduce Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI’s). The evolution of hospitals embracing the patient-centered design is the direct result of input from many stakeholders including patients, infection prevention specialists, the environmental services team   Why Lisa’s current favorite project is a long term acute rehab facility which includes the design of a new breakfast area near a nurse’s station, and how this solves a very big problem for staff and patients. What a critical success factor looks like in e4h projects. How evidence-based design has been proven to improve the health of patients and staff, and how this is a fundamental passion of the team at e4h. What it’s like to work at a global architecture firm committed exclusively to the design of innovative health facilities. How technology continues to play a bigger role in healthcare design. Speaker and entrepreneur Gary Black, and writer and advocate for the vulnerable, Lisa Black chat about their past experiences in life and passion for reaching the nations. Both of them are global minded leaders doing some major kingdom work and it is incredible. Get ready to be encouraged and inspired!  Introduction to Gary and Lisa Black (1:30) The Black family has lived in a variety of locations around the world, currently they’re living in Mijas, Spain! Gary Black was raised in a religious home and his mother and sister with special needs passed away at a young age. In the midst of having a large influence within national ministry, Gary also had a very challenging first marriage. At one point, his boys were kidnapped by his wife and eventually he won full custody of them back. After a painful season of divorce, Gary met Lisa and added two more daughters to the family. Meeting Seth Barnes (6:15) After Lisa and Gary met founder of the World Race Seth Barnes, this changed the trajectory of their life. Several months later their family sold everything they had and moved all 8 of the family members to Swaziland, Africa to pursue ministry opportunities locally and to mentor young adults on the World Race journey. A Tragic Loss (7:30) The Black family’s son who was a USA Rugby player got caught up with the cartels which eventually led to a violent death. In this time, Gary and Lisa felt like they could not make it through, but eventually found themselves in Spain, learning to let the pain transform them from the inside out. A Background on Lisa Black (9:30) Lisa was married at 19 years old and had children shortly after. Her first husband struggled with alcohol addictions and one night after years of being abstinent, he was killed from an accidental fall, resulting in a fatal head injury. God’s Provision (12:30) As Lisa worked through the trauma of her first husband’s death, she met an intriguing man, named Gary and soon fell head over heels. While it was a bit of a wild transition, she knew it was provision from the Lord for both of them. The Best Comfort (14:30) We are called to be comforted by God and as we let Him comfort us, it will transform you from the inside out! Pain used for Glory (16:00) God will always use our pain, He won’t let anything go to waste. Radical Obedience (17:00) When a husband and wife give their yes to God together, it’s a very powerful thing. To follow Christ with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, will cost everything, but it is totally worth it. Be Faithful (21:00) Gary encourages listeners to be faithful with what you have in your hands right now, do it really really well, and then see what God does with it next. Involvement with the World Race (22:00) Gary and Lisa are currently involved with the World Race ministry, where they help lead gathering events across the globe as well as help coach young adults on their transition back to the states. Generation 42 Leadership Academy (23:00) Generation 42 Leadership Academy is a nine month program focused on discipling and empowering creative leaders to go and be all that they were made. This academy focuses on training young adult leaders how to live missional, wherever their feet may go. A Call to All Generations (26:00) No matter what generation you were born in, we’re all called to partner together and see younger generations come alive. Millennials want to be discipled and boomers desire to have authentic relationships with the younger generation. As generations partner together, God’s glory will fill the whole earth. Landing Zones (29:00) Gary and Lisa have a passion to get a global network of wild people, willing to join in on multi-generational discipleship together. You can learn more about this by connecting with them here. All Seasons (30:00) God will use us wherever we are or whatever season we find ourselves in, if we allow it. Rise Up (31:00) It’s time for men to speak up be the leader they are meant to be within families and to the world. With her background working alongside the U.K Police Cyber Crime Units, Lisa is one of the founding partners of Red Goat Cyber Security where they provide a range of security services as well as the only GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters) certified social engineering training around. Aside from her work, Lisa does loads of pro-bono security work for the NHS (National Health Service) and various charities and cares deeply about helping the communities we live in becoming more aware of the growing threat. She talks about social engineering or human hacking which is the act of tricking someone into disclosing information or taking action, usually through technology. The idea behind social engineering is to take advantage of a potential victim’s natural tendencies and emotional reactions. *Instead of working on months hacking into a company’s system, social engineering would bypass the process which would make life easier for individuals or criminal organizations. Cyber attacks hit businesses every day and have increased every year as people try to benefit from vulnerable business systems. * Lisa started out taking every role in the company, Red Goat Cyber security, to set as a sample in getting the business off the ground. If she won’t move, no one else will. She mentions that it’s a constant challenge to run your own business, comparing it to taking care of a child that never grows old. It needs constant attention. Lisa also cited her success in public speaking that helped the company gain more clients and, at the same time, elevate herself. If you’re really struggling with something, if there’s a block on something, don’t just necessarily go and look for the obvious solution. Go and look outside the box and try to find someone who might offer you something that blows the barrier that you have. Lisa believes that the Cyber Security industry will grow exponentially since consumer products being developed nowadays are intertwined with the internet. She mentioned that since almost everything would rely on the internet, this would make users more vulnerable to cyber-attacks. Hopefully, individuals will start becoming more aware of how they connect with the internet and become more security conscious in the same way you never go out of the house without locking your door. Lisa brought up that there are 2 types of hackers: black hats and white hats. Some hackers are criminals and use their computer skills to harm or damage computer systems. These people are called black hat hackers. White hat hackers, on the other hand, use their computer skills to perform ethical hacking. Ethical hacking can determine vulnerabilities in a computer system. If companies don't hire white hat hackers to seek out potential threats and find vulnerabilities, there would likely be a lot more cyber crime activity and data breaches. It’s basically stepping up their game to make their life challenging. Our guest talked about the internet becoming a space filled with malicious links, trojans, and viruses. Data breaches are becoming more frequent, and naive users are more vulnerable than ever before. Lisa provided some tips that can help users stay alert and safe online 3 Tips on cyber security · Check the information you’ve provided online · Make sure to have a firewall and anti-virus from different vendors that update frequently · Use a password manager to strengthen your security Take more responsibility for yourself in the cyber world. These new technologies are something that the NHS (National Health Service) and the government, generally, need to be taking advantage of more. KEY DISCUSSION POINTS: [2:07] Get to know Lisa Forte [3:22] Idea of social engineering as a business concept [8:38] What Social Engineering is [12:01] Building Red Goat Cyber Security [14:22] Experience and tips on public speaking [24:25] Discussion about routines and ways of relaxation [27:46] Overview of the Cyber Security industry [41:34] Use of Blockchain TOP TIPS LEARN SKILLS THAT INTEREST YOU since recording this I’ve read a book called mastery which actually speaks about developing various talents that you’re just bloody interested in which you can then combine into your own unique skill set. I think Lisa’s example of becoming great at photoshop and public speaking along with getting a deep knowledge of cybercrime was genius. She’s perfectly set herself to start a great business just by following her interests in seemingly completely unrelated fields. and further to that it gives you an all-important story to tell which is key for public speaking or just getting people to remember you. FIND SOLUTIONS BY GOING OUT OF THE BOX Lisa used Hypnotherapy to convince herself she was excited to go on stage rather than anxious. Now, this is just so awesome and not a tip I’ve ever heard someone use before. If you’ve read one book about public speaking you’ve read them all. but if you go into completely different fields you might learn something. As Lisa says with this podcast it's really nice to hear from types of people you’d never normally listen to but actually find things you’d of never thought that can actually help. Like who’d of thought Lisa a Cybercrime and social engineering specialist would be giving us a public speaking masterclass. PROTECT YOURSELF ONLINE - DON’T TRUST ANYONE Hackers are becoming increasingly sophisticated and aren’t just doing crazy things with code to get to you, they’ll often exploit human vulnerabilities by just becoming your friend and finding ways to physically get in. so have some strict policies about who can do what and don’t allow yourself to make any sacrifices along the lines of, oh I’m sure just for you it will be alright. because if your 99% certain you really don’t want to be the lemon that happens to let in that dubious 1% And of course, don’t use the same password for everything and use a password manager BOOKS Get any of the books free on audible (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Audible-Free-Trial-Digital-Membership/dp/B00OPA2XFG?tag=samharris48%E2%80%9321) NO WAY DOWN: LIFE AND DEATH ON K2 - CLIMBING (https://www.amazon.co.uk/No-Way-Down-Life-Death/dp/0141044063/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3HZNGCWWCP58W&keywords=no+way+down+life+and+death+on+k2&qid=1580823910&sprefix=no+wat+dow%2Caps%2C385&sr=8-1) An awesome book that will put you off climbing even a slightly snowy hill. It’s a nail-biting read and a huge example of mental courage and human resilience. Get It Right with Undercover Architect

In this episode, I’m going to be sharing with you how to really get yourself ready for your renovation or building project if that’s on the cards for you in 2019. NOW is the time to prepare properly, and so I want to help you get really well set up for a successful project so you can save time, money and stress, and get it right in your future home. Sound good? So, let’s dive in. SHOW NOTES: In my experience, when homeowners start thinking about building or renovating, this is commonly what they do: they jump online, perhaps set up a Pinterest Board or Houzz Ideabook, and start gathering gorgeous images of kitchens, living rooms, alfresco areas … a lot of aspirational photos of finished projects that look like what they hope they’ll have in their dream home They really do try to nail and define their ‘style’ and put a name on how to describe it … be it Hamptons, or Coastal, or Scandi or something similar They may get a builder around and throw a bunch of ideas and suggestions at them, to try and get an idea of price - which is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string They can speak to friends and neighbours who’ve renovated or built, to see who they used and if they were any good, and what suggestions they might have They might even get a few designers around, and pick their brains for ideas under the guise of seeking fees for their help And I’ve even seen homeowners at this point look at colour schemes, flooring, tiles and Tapware and start collecting samples of things they like Look, all of these things are definitely part of the process, but they’re not the best place to start. In fact, they can be a great way to waste time as you pursue ideas and suggestions that aren’t based in what’s possible for your project and budget - or what potentially suits you the best. And they’re completely lacking any strategy that will streamline your effort, make your project more efficient, or less stressful as well. Homeowners can spend years at this point. Often they’re waiting for the ‘right’ time in their lives … for a pocket of time to become available. Which if you’re like most busy, modern families, that doesn’t really ever happen. Or they’re waiting to have ‘enough money’, which is certainly useful, but if they haven’t actually established their budget, or got some concrete ideas of costs for their desired ideas, it’s a bit of a stab in the dark what ‘enough money’ actually is. I could keep going on about what happens for homeowners in the time before they start their renovation or building projects. Many call it ‘getting ready’ but I feel it’s more like procrastination - or ‘procrasti-planning’ as I call it! And it’s counterproductive because in the searching, the collecting of ideas, the desire to get certainty around what they want to do, what they want to spend, and how they want their home to be, there’s a lot of time wasted. Because they’re often doing it alone, or with well-meaning but poor quality advice from free Facebook groups, or fluffy websites online written by people without a lot of experience or expertise. Sitting up late at night, or scanning their phone on their commute, or at the park with the kids. I think of the deliberation and research that first time mums put into purchasing their first pram or car seat, and yet fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants for their renovation or building project. I see women taking 12 months to plan a wedding - a one-day event that’s basically a very expensive party - and yet dive into renovating or building with incredible urgency and haste. This may all sound quite harsh and brutal … It basically comes down to this: If you don’t know how to get where you’re going, how can you possibly expect to not get lost? How can you expect to know how to ask the right questions, choose the right people to work with, know how to ask for what you want, be sure you’re getting what you’re paying for, and reach the destination of your finished home unscathed? If you have bottomless pockets and all the time in the world, then winging it is certainly do-able for your renovation or building project. But if you have constraints of time, money and resources, then you may want to be better prepared, better informed, and better equipped for the journey to your finished home. It is possible to have a great experience when you build or renovate your home. You hold the key. You are your future home’s greatest asset. You - what you do, how you choose, what you decide and how you push the progress of your project. It’s within your reach, your power, to be your home’s greatest advocate, and for you to know what you need to know to make your project a success. The fact that you listen to the Undercover Architect podcast tells me that you’re a natural at this … because you understand the importance of being informed and educated for your home’s reno or build to go well. So how can we work together more closely on this … how can you get better prepared, and better informed for your project? Listen to this episode to larn more about “How to Get it Right in Your Reno or New Home”. This is my 6 week online course that is a super-fast way to get you equipped with the tools, knowledge and resources to make your project a success. From understanding how to speak to council, your potential designer and builder, to be able to set your budget and communicate what you want for your future home, to auditing the design and getting all the details resolved, and through to having a stress-free construction process that runs on time and on budget … that’s what “How to Get it Right” will help you do. I’ve got some exciting news to share with you about developments we’ve made in this course to improve it, and also a holiday special you can access so that, if 2019 is your year to renovate or build your family home, you can get yourself sorted and prepared in the best way possible. This is such a great way to get ready for your renovation or building project, and learn a step-by-step system that is proven, tested and I’ve used on my own and client projects for 2 decades now. Plus, you’ll access lots of additional helpful tools and resources to simplify your project, and help you get it right in your future home. As Lisa said "You CANNOT renovate or build without first doing the course with UA!  The mistakes that you will avoid will save you tens of thousands $!!" That’s a sensational return on investment! Tennis, because of its repetitive nature, is an excellent therapeutic tool which can develop not only physical skills but also builds language and social skills, according to this week’s podcast guest Lisa Pugliese, from Love Serving Autism. Lisa is the founder and CEO of Lover Serving Autism and has combined her skills as an ex-professional tennis player and Speech-Language Pathologist to develop an innovative program that uses tennis to help young people on the autism spectrum develop skills. These can include the physical skills around increased fine and gross motor coordination and hand-eye coordination. In addition, other benefits include providing aerobic and cardiovascular exercise, as well as improving speed, flexibility, and agility. Playing tennis also helps to increase visual and auditory processing skills. Lisa explains how the program is also useful in developing the language and social skills of young people. Many of them are reluctant to try anything new because they prefer to know what’s coming. Some struggle to transition to a new sport, which is why Love Serving Autism uses “Social Stories” to help participants learn what to expect from a tennis class. This helps to prepare them and familiarise them with the classes in advance. As Lisa explains the classes are very structured so, at the beginning of class, the students meet and greet one another, which helps to improve their language and communication skills. The organization also encourages them to partake in different group activities, such as practicing tracking with the ball by rolling it back and forth with a partner as well as practice catching and throwing the ball. Lisa explains how tennis has helped many of the young people become more independent as they progress, and their individual skills develop.   Lisa talks about the challenges of running an organization like this. They are reliant on volunteers, but fortunately, they have plenty of people offering to help out. She talks very honestly about how challenging some volunteers find it to work with the young people on the program. Although the volunteers are all excited about helping, they aren’t sure how to help. They often wait on the sidelines for instruction from the program director and one of the main issues is that they just aren’t sure how to speak to autistic children. It can take time build their confidence so that they feel more comfortable helping and being part of the team. This applies equally to the tennis professionals Lisa uses on the program. They quickly find they need a different set of skills and have to think of new ways to teach the sport. But, as Lisa notes, what they learn on this program will make them so much more effective as they go on to teach other young people who have additional needs. In a sense, they will serve as ambassadors for tennis as sport and tennis as a therapy.   Like many similar organizations, Lisa has had to navigate the world of funding. She talks about the approaches they use, which include organizing events to raise money and to also promote autism awareness. She also talks about the long-term goals of Love Serving Autism which are to expand the program to more locations across the USA. Lisa has been able to very effectively combine her passions to change the lives of many young people, impact on the volunteers and tennis professional she trains, and show just how tennis can be used as a therapy in a way which is fun but also meets the long-term objective of building the self-worth of the young people she serves.   Visit www.journeyskills.com for more information and resources to help lead your child with additional needs toward greater independence.

Lisa’s love for cookbook started at an early age when she read cookbooks he mom had in the house. As Lisa grew up and learned about cooking her desire to try new things expanded. She started with buying cookbooks from James Mc Nair’s Pizza and Pie Cookbook. She then added general reference cookbooks, as well as books about food science that piqued her interest in why and how cooking works. As it stands now, Lisa’s interest in cookbooks has spanned from single-subject books to specialty cookbooks published by restaurants. In December 2017 Lisa decided to cook through a cookbook, so in the interview, we’ll talk more about her cookbook-cook- through and what she has learned from this experiment with cooking every recipe from one cookbook.

As Lisa works feverishly to make things right, Rayella secretly enlists her ex-marine boyfriend in a daring scheme of her own. Lisa Schrader is the founder of Awakening Shakti. For more than twenty years, she has been supporting and teaching women about awakening their inner Shakti, the sacred feminine energy. She guides women to tap into their magnetic radiance to attract their desires more easily. In other words, how to feel more naturally turned-on and sensually alive. In our modern Western culture women as well as men live under the creed of work more, perform more, make more money, make more happen, a way of being that is heavily skewed towards masculine energy and ideals. For a lot of women - and men too - this is highly exhausting and stressful and the effects can be seen in record-high number of depressed women, or women with “adrenal blowout”, to name a few. In the realm of relationships, women often complain of “not much happening in the bedroom”, or “sex has gone flat”, or, “all the men I date are wimps”. For every woman, there is an opportunity here, and it’s not just to wait until the perfectly sensual partner shows up and stokes her fire. The opportunity is to find that fire inside yourself, right now, and not only after you’ve accomplished something … like lost 20 pounds, found an awesome partner, gotten bigger breasts, or made yourself look younger. As Lisa puts it, after awakening her own Shakti and practicing these skills, she now permanently has a “simmering fire” inside, so that whenever she and her partner come together, as an example, she is ready to dive into pleasure and orgasmic enjoyment. It is this internal “simmering fire” that makes you feel alive, radiant, sensual, and attractive, as well as productive and ready to lead. Right now, Lisa is gearing up for her coaching program called Lover, Mother, Leader, where she guides women to awaken their own Shakti and reveal their radiance, in all the archetypical roles of a woman’s life, such as Lover, Mother, and Leader. Check it out here ... Also, Lisa gives tips for how to get started, even if you’ve never delved into this conversation before. Maybe you can just relate to being tapped out and overworked? She let other people push her around, and one day she just couldn’t do it anymore. *Opportunities are not free. As Lisa was saying yes to more and more things, she was not considering the other, more important things that she was giving up, like spending time with her child. *Saying no is so, so hard. Lisa is such a people pleaser. *What kind of lessons did Lisa learn, and how does that translate into what she’s doing right now? *It took Lisa around four to five years before she really began to invest in herself. She did not feel worthy enough at first. *What does Lisa’s mindset practice look like? *First impressions begin in as little as seven seconds and they can make or break a work relationship. *Before you really meet someone, you need to be ‘on’ before you’re really ‘on.’ Lisa explains a bit more. *It becomes a game changer when you learn how to decode other people’s body language. *If you can make people seen, heard, and valued, you’re pretty much set!   Mentioned in This Episode: Michellemcglade.com Maven Inner Circle Maven Facebook Group Powerbodylanguage.com Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less, by Greg McKeown

Making a difference, values driven and entrepreneurial just about sums up what most of us want in our professional lives. Lisa Sweeney took things one step further when she purchased Business in Heels with her friend Jo Plummer. The duo’s business now has over 100,000 member across forty locations, and they’re well on the way to achieving their goal of creating a global network of businesswomen and entrepreneurs. What does that mean for Indie authors? A built-in support network, for starters, and then there is all that expertise to tap into, along with opportunities to make new friends, forge new business relationship and..err..the chance to learn how to network. So why did I hate my experience at a Business in Heels networking event? Because I’m bad at it. If the key to personal and professional growth is discomfort then this is where I need to be. As Lisa says, it’s a mindset shift, moving from hiding in our attics to success through collaboration, marketing and trade. Her advice; think big, get a strategy in place and organise your marketing. Oh, and it’s not about me, it’s about the other person. Being a writer is easy, being an expert, or touting your wares, is a lot harder, and having a network of women to support, encourage and yep, sometimes push a little, can only be a good thing. Women entrepreneurs are growing in and out of the corporate world and more women are starting their own businesses. It makes sense to help each other along the way. So it’s time to get out of our attics and – my worst nightmare – network five to seven times a week. You can find out how https://www.businessinheels.com/staticpages/aboutus/ (here.)

As an award-winning writer, producer, speaker and entrepreneur, it’s clear Lisa Nicole Bell is a woman of many talents. She’s the perfect blend of creativity and business know-how, which has allowed her to build an empire focused on helping people tell better stories. Lisa’s the founder of Inspired Life Media Group and host of the Behind the Brilliance podcast. Throughout this chat with Rosetta, it’s clear Lisa has the self-awareness to truly embrace her choices and is passionate about helping others do the same. Finding the courage to do something on your own. For Lisa, becoming an entrepreneur was something that had always been on her mind, but she didn’t quite have the courage to take the plunge. She found the courage out of necessity, after losing her job for insubordination. Lisa discusses what this transition was like and what made her realize that the right time to embrace entrepreneurship was now. She also talks about the role of courage in making this leap and why it’s important to have clarity about what you want your life to look like before starting a business. Being happy is a choice. As Lisa discusses her journey, she shares with great honesty some of the steps you can take to create a blissful life. She talks about why being happy is a choice and - most importantly - that nobody is standing in your way but you. Lisa shares 3 things anyone can do to build the life you want, including self-awareness, courage, and a plan that is practical. She delves into each step and helps us understand why each is integral to our success in creating the life we truly want. No one has to sign off on your choices but you. Lisa goes on to discuss the power of self-awareness and why it’s essential to your happiness. She talks about why we all need to understand that our journey is unique to us and you have to find a way to embrace it in order to move forward. Lisa shares the value of realizing you don’t need anyone’s permission to be happy, just your own. She talks about being successful on your own terms and why it’s at the core of living a blissful life. Lisa gives insight into why it’s essential that you give yourself permission to be successful on your own terms. Getting out of your comfort zone every single day. As they close out their chat, Rosetta and Lisa talk about the daily routine that keeps Lisa focused on her goals. Lisa shares why she makes it a priority to do something outside of her comfort zone every single day. She talks about the value of making this a habit and how it can help to lay the groundwork for achieving your goals. Lisa also shares 2 books that have transformed her mindset in her journey and how they helped her to embrace her happiness rather than relying on what other people think. There is a fabulous key chain and DCL Galveston pin awaiting one lucky listener who will go to our facebook page and enter a comment telling us their area of Disney Trivia Concentration. Leave a message between today and when the next show posts (4/23/13) and a winner will be randomly selected from the comments! Tanks to Jeff W., Junior Staff Member, for his fabulous intro (not afro like I first typed). Although if he had an afro, we are sure it would indeed be fabulous. As Lisa is wishing her hubby a Happy 44th today, we are all holding the people of Boston and our loved ones in the area close in our hearts. www.thosedarncats.net

When I was in college in the 1980s, I liked to listen to Iggy Pop (aka James Newell Osterberg, Jr.). I was always mystified, however, by his song “Five Foot One,” with its odd and catchy refrain “I wish life could be/Swed-ish mag-a-zines!” What in the heck did that mean? I’d never seen a “Swed-ish mag-a-zine.” Thanks to Elizabeth Heineman‘s wonderful book Before Porn Was Legal: The Erotica Empire of Beate Uhse (University of Chicago Press, 2011), now I understand. You see, the last and perhaps most significant Swedish contribution (if that’s what it was) to Western Civilization was legalized hardcore porn. In the early 1970s the Swedes (and their porn-allies, the Danes) flooded European markets with the stuff. The Scandinavians were making a killing. As Lisa explains, the “Swedish Invasion” put the queen of the German erotica industry, Beate Uhse, in something of a bind – but it also came at a moment of great opportunity. In the first two decades after World War II, the Luftwaffe pilot-turned erotica entrepreneur had built a sex empire legitimized by the idea that erotica helped married, heterosexual couples have more fulfilling relationships. After all, the bread and butter of the industry were condoms (for customers who could hardly afford babies, given wartime devastation) and basic how-to manuals (for customers suffered from dire sexual ignorance). And the demand was there: by the early 1960s, fully half of West German household had patronized a mail-order erotica firm. But by the end of that decade, pornography – both homegrown and imported – was the backbone of the industry. So what, exactly, was the social mission of the erotica industry in this brave new world? In the end, the market decided with more than a little help from liberalism: German men wanted porn and the West German courts and Parliament couldn’t think of a reason not to let them have it. And so it is that you can buy porn on every high street in Germany, often in a Beate Uhse Erotik-Shop (Warning: really NSFW). This is a terrifically interesting book. Read it.
