“I can't come home for Thanksgiving.” Famous last words. As if I stand a chance against my overbearing-but-well-meaning family. Before I know it, my parents' neighbor is here to pick me up. What choice do I have, with the much-older Rocco looking all tempting in that sweater? Not only that, but he keeps looking at me like he has something important to say. The more he stares, the more it stirs up all sorts of forbidden feelings in me. Guess I'll be eating all my feelings on Thanksgiving, because nobody'd dare cook up romance over a family holiday weekend. That would be wrong. This month marks ten full years of my bimonthly book-recommendations project—a decade of weird little paragraphs about the books that grab my scattered attention. Whether you've been here since the beginning or signed up five minutes ago, thank you. I'm still baffled anyone reads these things, but I'm grateful all the same. To mark the occasion, I recorded a late-night solo episode from The Shed, diving deeper into each of my September & October picks: why I chose them, what stayed with me, and the sometimes-unexpected lessons I gleaned from each of them. Or you could just describe it as a guy sitting in his garden shed talking to himself. Your choice. You can read all of the recommendations here, or, if you're clamoring to receive more emails, you can sign up for the list here. We're peeking behind the scenes into how God's transfer process works! In Romans 5 and 6 we see the transmission of Adam's primal guilt to us through our "DNA," if you will; the transfer of Jesus' innocence to us through faith; our change from spiritual death to life... and, as we mentioned yesterday, our graduation from being pardoned on paper, to becoming a functional citizen of the Kingdom of God. Recorded on Monday October 20th and Wednesday October 22nd, 2025 What up, fans? That Horror Show Podcast brings you a brand-new episode to make you giddy with delight! Your down-and-out show hosts Timothy Kazda and Chris Koenig embark on a double-feature-demonic possession episode to give you goosebumps galore. First up is "The Exorcist: Believer" (2023), a legacy-sequel to the 1973 classic, in which not one but TWO children are possessed by...yep, you guessed it!...a demonic envoy of Satan! Man, don't you just hate that??? And after wiping the projectile vomit off of themselves, the hosts check out "Late Night With the Devil" (2023) in which a thought-to-be-lost late night "live" TV broadcast from the late 1970s gives you an up-close-and-personal look at demonic possession, all in the name of fame! But wait, there's more! Nate from 'Kids Corner' gives you his take on the cinematic adaptation of Stephen King's "It: Chapter one" (2017). So break out the Holy Water, grab your nearest crucifix and Bible (King James Version or English Standard Version, we really don't care which), and bone up on saying "The Power of Christ compels you!" a couple of thousand times, and give this episode a little spin! #exorcist #DemonicForces #latenightshow #THSP

(This podcast was previously published on December 26, 2020) Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... Men come to us saying they are ministers asking us to send money to them and asking us to give them such things a computers and Bibles. They cause us to feel guilty over the blessings God has given us. All this are devils working through these "ministers" to harm us. We have blessings from God because we deliberately set ourselves to follow God by HIS Spirit. These men who want us to give them things do not seek God as we do, therefore they "lack" when they should have plenty as we do. Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. There are many deceivers today, especially they of the ministries. Don't be deceived by them.

I've discussed the concept of the narrow road many times and in many places, and today I want to take some time to look at this important idea from a big picture view. The narrow road is a mystery because truth, ultimately, is mysterious. That doesn't mean relativism or subjectivism, it means that fundamental reality, when you go deep enough, is very mysterious because God is that fundamental reality. * 00:00 - Introduction* 10:52 - The Devil* 19:50 - What is the Narrow Road? * 29:05 - Reality is Dualistic* 36:54 - The Mysteries of Faith* 53:13 - Christology* 1:23:22 - God's Attributes* 1:28:06 - Soteriology* 1:55:34 - Cosmology* 1:58:24 - God Resting* 1:59:43 - Eternity* 2:02:01 - Thanatology* 2:12:26 - Inversions This is a public episode. "You're not just declared righteous, you're empowered to be righteous!" Believers here-and-now have the first chapter of our salvation mastered: Jesus paid the penalty for our sin. We stand clean before our holy God. But if we have PhDs in Justification, many of us are back in preschool on the subject of Sanctification. We're missing some knowledge on how to turn our right status into right actions. Pastor Jim is here to help us find that information. Every November we hear the cozy legend of the First Thanksgiving—Pilgrims, turkey, and a peaceful feast in the New World. But the real story behind Thanksgiving is much darker. Long before it became a holiday, the land around Plymouth was a plague-ravaged, haunted wilderness, where the Pilgrims saw the Devil in every tree… and the Wampanoag saw spirits in every swamp. This is the terrifying true story behind the celebration we remember every Thanksgiving. In this Thanksgiving horror history episode of Terrifying & True, we go back to 1620–1630, when the Mayflower arrived in a New England already emptied by a mysterious European plague. The Pilgrims believed God had “cleared” the land for them. The Wampanoag wondered if the strangers from across the sea carried a curse. As November winds howled and crops failed, both sides read every storm, comet, and sickness as a sign from the spirit world. We'll walk into Hockomock Swamp, the “place where spirits dwell”, where the Wampanoag said the powerful manitou Hobbamock gathered souls in the mist. We'll stand with the Pilgrims on a freezing night, hearing “hideous and great” shouts in the darkness and wondering if it's an attack—or a demon. We'll sit inside Massasoit's lodge as the Wampanoag sachem lies near death in 1623, while powwaws chant, English prayers rise, and a strange alliance is sealed when he survives. This is the side of Thanksgiving you don't hear about in school: secret midnight burials on Cole's Hill, raided cornfields, rumors that the English kept plague in barrels, and a fragile peace that led to that famous 1621 harvest feast—a celebration held under a sky both peoples believed was full of omens and spirits. The Pilgrims saw themselves as a chosen people in a howling wilderness. The Wampanoag lived with a new fear: that a foreign God might be stronger than their own. From these first Thanksgiving-era encounters grew a legacy of paranoia that reaches all the way to the Salem witch trials and King Philip's War. The Pilgrims' Thanksgiving miracle stories, the Wampanoag's spiritual world of Kiehtan and Hobbamock, and the brutal reality of disease and hunger combined into one of America's earliest haunted holiday tales. This year, as you carve the turkey, remember: the road to that “peaceful” feast was paved with ghost stories, curses, and fear.Inside this episode:The real first Thanksgiving: How a fragile truce, a desperate harvest, and a haunted landscape created the feast we still celebrate every November.Pilgrims in a howling wilderness: Why early settlers believed New England was a devil-haunted forest and read every disaster as God's judgment.Wampanoag spirits and Hobbamock: The Native cosmology of Kiehtan, Hobbamock, manitous, and powwaws—and why English colonists called it “witchcraft.”Plague, providence, and plague barrels: The 1616–1619 epidemic, empty villages, and rumors that the English stored disease as a weapon.Omens, comets, and curses: From strange lights in the sky to disturbed graves, how both sides believed the land around Plymouth was full of warnings.Miracle rain and a dying sachem: The 1623 fast and gentle rain, Massasoit's near-fatal illness, and the moments both peoples thought their gods had spoken. From feast to war: How this haunted decade laid the spiritual groundwork for Salem, King Philip's War, and centuries of Thanksgiving myths. If you're looking for a Thanksgiving episode that digs into the true horror behind the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag, this is your haunted holiday history—the dark story hiding behind the turkey and the pies.Support the show AND get delicious coffee for a creepy night in at 25% off using code “SPOOKY”https://savorista.com/discount/SPOOKY

Reid Carter presents Part 1 of a two-part series on John Wayne Gacy, timed with Peacock's new series "Devil in Disguise." Gacy was a successful Chicago contractor, Democratic precinct captain, and community pillar who dressed as Pogo the Clown for children's parties. He was also one of America's most prolific serial killers. Between 1972-1978, he murdered at least 33 teenage boys and young men, burying 29 in the crawl space under his suburban home. December 1978: 15-year-old Robert Piest disappeared after meeting Gacy about a job. That investigation finally exposed the horror beneath Gacy's house.Unlock an ad-free podcast experience with Caloroga Shark Media! Get all our shows on any player you love, hassle free! Episode 420 - Give The Devil A Hand I told Jen this week that I was feeling a little burned out, she thought that I said "This week I feel like being a burnout." Classic bit of miscommunication. The problem is, she took that to heart, and showed up to the podcast faded out of her mind. Turns out, it couldn't have happened at a better time. I pointed out that this is, in fact, episode 420, and we both had a good laugh about it. Then she promptly forgot what we were talking about, and fell asleep in front of her microphone. I finally managed to wake her up and get her focused for long enough to record the show. So grab a drink, or any other intoxicant you might prefer, and join us. Cheers! The heart must be purged, as well as the temple was by our Saviour, of the thieves that would rob God of his due worship. Antiquity had some temples, wherein it was a crime to bring any gold; therefore those that came to worship laid their gold aside before they went into the temple. We should lay aside our worldly and trading thoughts before we address to worship: Isa. 26:9, 'With my spirit within me will I seek thee early.' Let not our minds be gadding abroad, and exiled from God and themselves.
In this multi-part series, we've focused on just one movie to explore a key idea in film studies. But this one choice means we've left out multitudes. American Nightmares begins with the horror at the root of the stories that kept the early settlers huddled around the fire late into the night – the Devil himself.Understanding the Devil in America is the key to understanding our undeniable taste for the evil and the monstrous in all their many forms. The pages of our history can be read as a tale of horror -- with the Devil as one of the main characters. The Devil, like the first white settlers, was imported to these shores, and he found great success here. At almost every turning point in our history, at every moment of great societal and cultural change, the Devil has embodied, and even legitimized our nation. He has been the uninvited guest at the American banquet and the inspiration for religious movements, politics, entertainment, and our country's greatest nightmares. American Nightmares is part of the American Hauntings Podcast Network. You can find more about us, our books, tours, ghost hunts, dinner events, the Haunted America Conference, and the American Oddities Museum in Alton, Illinois, at the American Hauntings Website!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/american-hauntings-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
