In this episode, Chris Cochrane guest-hosts for his brother Ray and devotes the whole show to one event: Disney’s D23 2026 fan convention in Anaheim. Friday night delivered Marvel’s new X-Men cast, Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, a fresh Avengers: Doomsday trailer, and a release date for Frozen 3. Saturday turned to the parks, with Villains Land, an Indiana Jones dark ride, the long-awaited Expedition Everest yeti repair, and a Monsters Inc land opening in 2027. – Want to start a podcast? Support my Show Sponsor: Best Godaddy Promo Codes Get 1Password Full Summary Chris Cochrane opens the show and explains why this episode breaks the usual format. Instead of six or eight unrelated stories, the entire episode covers Disney’s D23 convention, which he compares to Apple’s WWDC. For newcomers, he notes that D23 is Disney’s official fan club, named for the company’s founding year of 1923. This year’s event ran two nights at the Honda Center: Friday for movies and television, Saturday for the theme parks. Marvel Finally Casts the X-Men Friday’s headline was the X-Men. The Associated Press put the crowd near 12,000, and Marvel Studios used that stage to name its rebooted team. Christopher Abbott plays Professor Charles Xavier, Inde Navarrette plays Rogue, and Maya Boyd plays Storm. Adam Driver rounds out the group as the villain Mister Sinister. Meanwhile, Samara Weaving, Kit Connor, and Sadie Sink were already known as Emma Frost, Cyclops, and Jean Grey. Jake Schreier directs, and the film arrives May 5, 2028. Chris calls the lineup spot-on casting. He singles out Weaving as a perfect match for the comics, and he points out that Sink already appeared as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Navarrette is the least established name, coming off a breakout role in an indie horror film. Boyd, meanwhile, was the name he knew least, with what he believes is a Broadway background. Above all, Chris hopes Marvel does the team justice, and he recommends the animated revival X-Men ’97 on Disney+ as the best place to start. Frozen 3 Gets a Date and a Chaotic Reveal Frozen 3 lands November 24, 2027. That is the Wednesday of Thanksgiving week, the same slot the first two films used. The story centers on Anna and Kristoff’s wedding, which a new villain, an evil Ice Queen, disrupts. Jennifer Lee returns to direct with Trent Correy, and the full voice cast is back. However, the reveal itself fell apart. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel performed a darker arrangement of “Frozen Heart.” Meanwhile, the audio failed, the video failed, and a set of doors never opened. Menzel asked the crowd whether they should try it again, and Bell simply narrated everything that was supposed to happen. Afterward, Josh Gad sang “Oooh, Samantha,” a new love song for Olaf. Chris is here for it, since Olaf is one of the franchise’s best comic characters. Pixar, Disney Animation, and the Rest of Friday Night Pixar chief Pete Docter laid out a packed slate. Incredibles 3 hits summer 2028 and follows Violet and Dash sneaking out at night to fight crime. Chris hopes that finally shows a grown-up Jack-Jack. Coco 2 follows in November 2029 with Benjamin Bratt returning as Ernesto de la Cruz. That has fans puzzling over how a villain already in the Land of the Dead comes back. Additionally, Pixar showed an original called Ghost Market and a Venice-set cat film called Gatto. On the Disney Animation side, Zootopia 3 is confirmed. The live-action Tangled arrives March 31, 2028 with Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel. Chris considers that casting perfect after her turn in Agatha All Along. A live-action Lilo & Stitch sequel, a new Simpsons movie, a Bluey movie, and a Kingdom Hearts anime series round out the list. For Star Wars fans, Ahsoka returns January 20, 2027. Chris also offers a hot take: he prefers Rogue One to the entire sequel trilogy. Consequently, he welcomes original stories like Ryan Gosling’s upcoming Starfighter. Adam Driver Is Mister Sinister Driver appeared by video rather than in person. He told the crowd that he and Kevin Feige had talked for years about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Then he announced he would play Magneto. After a long pause, he corrected himself to Nathaniel Milbury, which is Mister Sinister’s human alias. The gag landed because fans had floated Driver for Magneto for years. For anyone new to the comics, Chris explains that Mister Sinister is a geneticist obsessed with mutant DNA, a manipulator rather than a brawler. The cast met backstage only minutes earlier, so Chris is curious how their chemistry develops. Notably, Christopher Abbott previously worked with Driver on HBO’s Girls. The script comes from Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo, two prestige-television names that have Chris excited. Why the X-Men Took Thirty Years to Reach the MCU A business story underlies the casting. In the 1990s, a financially struggling Marvel sold film rights to raise cash. Fox ended up with the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, and Sony took Spider-Man. As a result, Marvel Studios built its connected universe from 2008 onward without some of its most famous characters. The Hugh Jackman era of X-Men films belonged to Fox, with a separate continuity and no crossovers. That changed in 2019, when Disney closed its $71 billion purchase of 21st Century Fox’s film and television studio. Most coverage framed the deal as a streaming play, but it also brought the X-Men home. Chris sums it up neatly: Disney signed the paperwork in 2019, cast the film in 2026, and audiences see it in 2028. Ryan Gosling’s Starfighter, Ghost Rider, and VisionQuest Lucasfilm dated Star Wars: Starfighter for May 28, 2027. Gosling plays Kade Auberon, a pilot from the wrong side of the galaxy tied to the fastest starfighter ever built. Before he walked out, Disney played clips of him as a kid on The Mickey Mouse Club. Gosling said the company changed his life then and is changing it again now. He is also playing Ghost Rider in the Marvel universe. That thrills Chris, since Nicolas Cage last carried the character on the big screen. Meanwhile, the Disney+ series VisionQuest arrives October 14. Paul Bettany returns as Vision and James Spader as Ultron, and the trailer drops the two androids into oddly mundane human situations. Bettany joked that Vision has “rather inconveniently died several times.” Chris agrees the character has been through the wringer since WandaVision. The Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Avengers: Doomsday opens December 18, with Joe and Anthony Russo directing. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell introduced the new footage. It offers the clearest look yet at Downey as Doctor Doom, who fights off Thor and takes his hammer. Evans appears as Captain America holding a baby, and Ian McKellen shows up as a haggard, long-haired Magneto. One quieter shot has Doom staring at a portrait of a lost wife and child. That frames him as a grieving avenger rather than a world-ender. He also commands an army of comic-accurate Sentinels. The cast pulls from the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the legacy Fox X-Men, including Patrick Stewart. Hugh Jackman also appeared on screen to say he is willing to return as Wolverine, though that was not a confirmation. Chris, a self-described Marvel nerd, closes with a theory. He suspects the MCU’s Tony Stark was actually Victor von Doom, adopted by the Starks, which would explain the Downey casting. He also predicts the Fox-era X-Men die off in this film and that Thor may be the major casualty. If it happens, he wants credit for calling it. Disney Parks Around the World Saturday’s Disney Experiences showcase covered parks, resorts, and cruise ships, with Neil Patrick Harris hosting. Hong Kong Disneyland gets an Avengers pavilion that reshapes its Stark Expo skyline. Shanghai Disneyland is building the first land devoted entirely to Spider-Man, complete with a new coaster. Since Spider-Man is his favorite hero, Chris hopes to visit once it opens. Closer to home, Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is doubling in size with two rides opening in 2028. Avengers: Infinity Defense brings back Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, and Downey, while Stark Flight Lab adds Brie Larson. A Coco boat ride into the Land of the Dead is also coming, with no height requirement. Chris admits he prefers California Adventure to Disneyland because the rides are better. Overseas, Disneyland Paris will retire its Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain overlay at the end of 2027 and restore the original Jules Verne theme. Paris also gets the first ride ever based on The Lion King. Tokyo Disneyland adds Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue, the first Wreck-It Ralph ride, plus a Space Mountain launch sequence designed with YouTuber Mark Rober. Finally, Disney Cruise Line announced three more ships, including the Disney Believe in 2027 and an entirely new class in 2029. Back in Anaheim, Tomorrowland is getting reimagined, which Chris welcomes because the land badly needs an update. The Magic Happens parade and the Remember Dreams Come True fireworks are both returning. For the tech crowd, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run now has a Fortnite crossover, where in-game missions unlock content on the real ride. Every New Walt Disney World Ride and Land Chris ranks the Florida parks Hollywood Studios first, then Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom leads the announcements with Villains Land, now the official name. It features a Maleficent coaster through an enchanted briar and a boat ride through the Evil Queen’s catacombs. Reporting puts its scale near Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and Glenn Close appeared in character as Cruella to announce it. Piston Peak, the Cars area replacing Tom Sawyer Island, adds two more rides, though their exact names remain unsettled. Additionally, the Carousel of Progress gets new scenes and a recast. Jamie Lee Curtis and Bryan Cranston will voice Mom and Dad starting late spring 2027. Chris, invoking Heisenberg, calls Cranston the GOAT. At Animal Kingdom, the Indiana Jones ride now has a name: Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. It tells an original 1950 story inside a Maya temple, and Harrison Ford personally served as the physical model for the animatronic. Nearby, the Tropical Americas land brings Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, with more than fifty animal animatronics and no height requirement. Then comes the fix park regulars have wanted for years. The Expedition Everest yeti broke soon after the ride opened. Rather than fix it, Disney lit it with a strobe for over a decade, earning the nickname disco yeti. Now it is being repaired and returned to full motion. Chris rates Everest among his top five rides anywhere, and he suggests riding it before the fix so you can compare. Over at Epcot, Spaceship Earth gets its first major story rewrite in nearly twenty years, shifting from communication history to human connection. Dreamfinder also returns to Journey Into Imagination, and Disney Experiences chairman Thomas Mazloum introduced that news with two words: “we heard you.” Mazloum added that Disney has more projects underway than at any point in its history. After this rundown, Chris believes him. Monsters Inc Land Opens in 2027 Monstropolis begins opening at Hollywood Studios in early 2027, but in stages. The headline door coaster will not be ready on day one. It is the first suspended coaster in any Disney park. It also uses Disney’s first vertical lift, hauling riders about forty feet straight up before launching them into the door vault. Instead, the land opens with the Glob Theater’s “Welcome to Monstropolis” show and Harryhausen’s, a working sushi restaurant lifted from the first film. The stage show features an original song by Randy Newman, his first ever written for a theme park attraction. Chris also notes that the restaurant name honors stop-motion legend Ray Harryhausen. Wrapping up, Chris names the X-Men casting and the Doomsday trailer as his favorite moments of the weekend. He hopes to cover more movie news on future shows, and he plugs Dune: Part Three, which also opens December 18. It's time to visit the apocryphal gospels with The Carpenter's Son, which marks our return to "fully caught up on Cage" status! After exploring why Nicolas Cage wanted to do this movie (including the "insult" he suffered before this and how this whole thing seems to have backfired), we talk about some new Nicolas Cage news, including a release date for Madden (Nov. 18 on Amazon Prime!) and a movie from the director of Stolen that was... stolen... from Netflix?! Then, we shift our focus to The Carpenter's Son. Joey offers Mike some context for other actors in this movie, while Mike wonders whether this movie was mismarketed. We discuss the film's strong start as well as its struggle to match that height again. Why does it seem like there's such little story here? We try to figure that out. We also highlight the elements we like from the movie, as we want to bring some positivity to it. We then turn our eyes to the future and look at Nicolas Cage's IMDb to see his eight (!) upcoming projects.

Then, the crew dives into the release of Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi to share their initial thoughts. While most of the gang is enjoying it so far, one Nerd might be a bit too critical—so, is it actually worth the watch?   That sparks a bigger debate: are we slipping back into Star Wars fatigue, or is there still incredible content on the horizon like Star Wars: Maul Shadow Lord keeping the hype alive? From there, with so much TV to catch up on, the Nerds try to convince Rene to finally check out Spider-Noir (can you believe he hasn't seen it yet?!).   Naturally, that leads into a massive tangent about Nicolas Cage and his iconic filmography as the gang breaks down their personal favorites. Finally, a walk down classic cinema leads into a discussion on essential war movies and which ones they would recommend watching first—all this and more!

It's Friday, which means absolutely nothing makes sense anymore.Today's comedy podcast somehow manages to connect Guns N' Roses recording new music, Green Day launching a 24/7 YouTube channel, Perez Hilton's heartbreaking situation, a Nicolas Cage John Madden movie, Robert Pattinson becoming Chris Hansen, and perhaps the strangest movie trailer any of us have ever seen... Wicker.Yes. A movie about a man literally made of wicker.Naturally, the show spends way too much time trying to figure out why half the internet suddenly wants to date a decorative patio basket. There are jokes about Pier 1 Imports that absolutely shouldn't work—but somehow do—and the crew completely loses it imagining the logistics of dating someone who probably needs to stay away from open flames.Meanwhile, Slash says Guns N' Roses are finally writing new music again, and for longtime fans that's almost as unbelievable as hearing Axl and Slash are actually getting along. The gang dives into what that reunion means, why Chinese Democracy still feels like it took several presidential administrations to arrive, and whether this album might finally become reality.Music nerds also get excited over Green Day launching a nonstop streaming channel full of concerts, music videos, and rare footage, sparking an entire conversation about why every legendary band should basically become their own MTV.On the celebrity side of the world, things take a much more serious turn as the crew discusses Perez Hilton's recent hospitalization and how public perception changes when someone who built a career covering celebrity meltdowns experiences one of his own. It's thoughtful, honest, and still unmistakably The Rizzuto Show.Movie fans get plenty to chew on with Super Troopers 3, Grown Ups 3, Madden starring Nicolas Cage, Jurassic production drama, and one of the creepiest trailers of the year featuring Robert Pattinson transforming into Chris Hansen. Somehow that's still only the second weirdest trailer discussed. Then, because no Friday is complete without an argument nobody asked for, the crew debates the greatest Disney animated films ever made. Lern prepares for a family getaway to Table Rock Lake that quickly turns into a debate over golf carts, caves, spas, and whether anyone actually wants to leave the house. The gang dives into the strange pressure of family vacations, why everyone wakes up before sunrise, and whether it's okay to disappear for a solo adventure just to save your sanity.Meanwhile, Rafe makes an emotional confession about falling back in love with cheese after attempting a dairy-free experiment, leading to one of the funniest conversations about comfort food you'll hear all week. The crew also argues over the greatest fast-food burgers in America, gives Dairy Queen's food menu the respect it deserves, and somehow ends up discussing Sonic-related trauma that's apparently lasted decades.Moon continues his streak of bringing the internet's strangest lists, including the world's best food cities, the worst drivers in America, the most romantic cities, and a collection of Victorian slang words that quickly derail into pure nonsense. Somehow "Cupid's kettle drums" becomes a legitimate on-air discussion. There's plenty of classic Rizz Show chemistry throughout as the crew bounces from travel stories to family drama, awkward Airbnb experiences, summer spending habits, childhood freedom, and everything in between. It's exactly the kind of organized chaos listeners expect from a daily comedy show that never stays on one topic for very long.Guns N' Roses recording new music, Green Day launching a 24/7 YouTube channel, Perez Hilton's heartbreaking situation, a Nicolas Cage John to play King Scott in a new movie, Robert Pattinson becoming Chris Hansen, and perhaps the strangest movie trailer any of us have ever seen... Karen Rodriguez has appeared on a handful of popular shows, but in just a few years, she's found herself right smack in the middle of two of the biggest hits as a series regular. First came Netflix's The Hunting Wives, the series adaptation of May Cobb's hugely popular novel. Whereas headliners like Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman are leaning into the extremes of the characters' situation — and to great effect — Rodriguez tackles the task of serving as the show's grounded heart, Deputy Wanda Salazar. Rodriguez made such a big impression doing that that she was made a series regular for the second season, which is due out in the fall. While you wait for more Hunting Wives, you can catch Rodriguez in one of the most highly anticipated new superhero projects of 2026, Prime Video's Spider-Noir. Rodriguez stars opposite Nicolas Cage's Ben Reilly as Janet Ruiz, his trusty secretary and fellow investigator. Ben may be the one with the superpowers, fighting crime in New York City as The Spider, but it's Janet's intuition that helps them connect with clients, often sparking the groundbreaking level of understanding needed to crack a case. With all eight episodes of Spider-Noir now available to stream on Prime Video, in Black & White and also True-Hue color, Rodriguez visited the Collider Ladies Night studio to revisit her journey to Netflix, discuss what it was like scoring her very first series regular role in Spider-Noir, and to dig into how Janet is Reilly Investigations secret weapon. Michael KostroffTake a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Michael Kostroff. Michael has been a working actor for several decades and is well known for several roles. In this episode, we chat about some of those roles, some of those shows, and he shares experiences from them. We talk about his breakout role on 'The Wire', his stints as Max Bialystok in SEVEN separate touring productions of the smash hit 'The Producers', and some of his other prominent roles. Aat the time we recorded this episode; Michael was toward the end of his run on 'Dog Day Afternoon' on Broadway. Michael was kind enough to actually record this during his Broadway debut! We do a bit of a deep dive into Michael's career; both before he became a household face, and after. He was a writer at Disneyland, which was a thing I didn't even know existed. I ask him questions about working on 'Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip', and what it is like to work on an Aaron Sorkin project. He shares stories from the set of 'The Blacklist' and getting to work with his pal Deirdre Lovejoy again, singing the theme song for a television show, and doing yet another job I didn't know existed; but this time for Tony Bennett. Then we jump into Michael's role as the mayor of New York and working with Nicolas Cage on 'Spider Noir'. Of course, I ask him about fulfilling his life-long dream of performing on Broadway, and what it is like being part of 'Dog Day Afternoon'. Then we discuss his various books. Michael Kostroff has written 4 books so far, and we get into a couple of them. Michael teaches a workshop that helps actors get out of their own heads when doing auditions, it's called 'Audition Psych 101'. He also wrote a book by the same name and there is an audio version as well. We have a pretty in-depth discussion around this topic and his need to share what he has learned along the way. This is a fun and wild ride that goes all over the place. Michael even talks about that one time where he was the driver on the campaign for a person who went on to become The President of the United States of America! Follow Michael everywhere, buy the books, watch the shows, take the workshop. You will be better for it!

Is Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey a true cinematic masterpiece—or an impressive visual epic that falls just short of Nolan's best work? On this episode of The Next Reel, Tyler Johns and Lance Taylor break down one of the most anticipated movies of 2026: Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey After seeing the film twice during its premiere weekend, Tyler shares his complete review of Nolan's ambitious adaptation of Homer's legendary Greek epic. The discussion covers the movie's enormous scale, stunning IMAX cinematography, emotional themes, major performances and the importance of choosing the right theatrical format. Tyler explains why watching The Odyssey outside of a full 70mm presentation can affect the film's aspect ratio, visual impact and overall sense of immersion. They also discuss Matt Damon's performance as Odysseus, including how he handles the character's guilt, shame, exhaustion and helplessness throughout the journey. Tyler also highlights Jon Bernthal's performance as Menelaus, praising Bernthal for stepping outside the aggressive, hot-headed roles audiences often associate with him. While many early viewers have called The Odyssey a masterpiece, Tyler offers a more measured reaction. He considers the film a powerful visual spectacle and gives it 4 out of 5 stars, but does not rank it among Christopher Nolan's very best movies. The review also examines several creative decisions made in adapting Homer's original story, including notable pieces of dialogue and mythology that were changed, shortened or removed. Did Nolan's version capture everything that makes the original epic so memorable? Should audiences prioritize seeing it in IMAX, or could waiting for the digital and streaming release provide a more complete visual experience? Before getting into The Odyssey, Lance recaps a scorching weekend trip to New Orleans that unexpectedly became a New Orleans-themed movie marathon. That includes Nicolas Cage's bizarre and completely over-the-top performance in Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, along with a viewing of the 1975 Paul Newman thriller The Drowning Pool. Then, Tyler and Lance take a trip through movie history as they reveal their personal *op five nostalgic summer movies. If you've ever wondered how one conversation about Canadian border laws could somehow spiral into senior citizen driving debates, bizarre hospital traditions from the 1970s, delivery room survival strategies, and an emotional support hot dog... congratulations, you've found today's episode. On this episode of The Rizzuto Show, Moon gets ready for Canada while Rafe discovers that decades-old paperwork might be standing between him and crossing the border. Apparently Canada has a longer memory than most family members, and tracking down forgotten records becomes its own adventure worthy of Nicolas Cage.Meanwhile, the crew debates whether elderly drivers should have regular driving tests, shares stories from local St. Louis traffic, and somehow turns a DMV visit into one of the funniest conversations of the day. If you've ever been trapped behind two Buicks driving exactly the same speed, you'll probably feel seen.Scott also finds himself in the hot seat as the crew prepares him for fatherhood. From hospital bags and delivery room playlists to diaper disasters and everything nobody warns you about before bringing a baby home, the advice is equal parts helpful and absolutely terrible. Thankfully, everyone else has already made enough parenting mistakes to share with him.The conversation only gets stranger when the crew compares today's parenting experience with hospital rules from the 1970s, when smoking in delivery rooms apparently wasn't even considered unusual. It's a reminder that maybe the past wasn't always the good old days.Add in hilarious stories, sarcastic observations, local St. Louis flavor, unexpected tangents, and the kind of conversations that somehow only make sense on this show, and you've got another episode packed with laughs from beginning to end.Whether you're here for the ridiculous conversations, funny stories, entertainment gossip, weird news, or just need something to make your commute a little less painful, this daily comedy show delivers exactly the kind of chaos you've come to expect. Every episode brings the crew's unique mix of sarcasm, friendship, and complete inability to stay on topic—and that's exactly why listeners keep coming back.If you're new to the show, welcome aboard. If you've been listening for years, thanks for continuing to enable this nonsense. Either way, buckle up because this daily comedy show somehow finds new ways to derail itself every single morning. From celebrity chatter and local stories to parenting fails and ridiculous debates, this daily comedy show proves once again that the funniest moments are usually the ones nobody planned.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshowConnect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
