This realization not only offered her personal hope but also opened up new pathways for co-creation and creativity in her life. The episode delves into the importance of listening to one's internal signals and unlocking personal potential, a journey that Lynda expertly guides her clients through using a blend of nervous system awareness, dream work, and plant-based practices. The conversation transitions into a discussion about the sacred nature of nighttime intelligence and dreams. Lynda reveals the significance of dreams as a personal, symbolic communication from one's soul. She advocates for a practice of journaling dreams to better discern the messages meant for personal growth and understanding. Lynda also introduces her latest offerings, including her dream work series and an architectural being event, highlighting the transformative potential of both to realign and rediscover one's innate architecture. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. ToI founding editor David Horovitz joins host Jessica Steinberg for today's episode. With US President Donald Trump desperately attempting to end the war with Iran, Horovitz reviews the mixed messaging delivered by the US leader as he fawns over the Tehran regime's "nice, new" leaders and signs a "peace" deal that doesn't achieve any war goals but that he may think will keep alive his dream of the Nobel Peace Prize. Horovitz notes that the US readiness to authorize an Iranian role in Lebanon is undermining the unique readiness of the Beirut government to work with Israel toward a diplomatic, long-term arrangement. Rather than disconnecting Iran from Hezbollah -- an explicit war goal -- the US is essentially partnering with Iran regarding Lebanon's future, dooming the Israel-Lebanon talks it is currently hosting in Washington, DC. Our discussion moves on to Tuesday's New York City primaries, in which two virulently anti-Israel Democratic Socialists of America candidates and one progressive Democrat won elections against more established candidates, further bolstering Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his anti-Zionist politics in the rapidly changing city. Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates. For further reading: In Trump’s delusions of peace with Iran and efforts to bully Israel, dark echoes of appeasement Trump’s deal is a catastrophic capitulation to Iran’s aggressors, leaves Israel vulnerable and constrained American pro-Israel activists may have just had their worst week ever Mamdani-backed primary sweep further cements anti-Zionist politics in NYC Subscribe to The Times of Israel Daily Briefing on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts. Ep 506: How Amazon and Henry David Thoreau Can Help Deliver Your Dreams

    The Jim Fortin Podcast

Start Your Transformation Now  In this episode of The Jim Fortin Podcast, Jim draws on an unexpected pairing — Henry David Thoreau's timeless wisdom and the mechanics of Amazon's fulfillment system — to reveal why most people never advance confidently in the direction of their dreams. The culprit isn't a lack of ambition or effort — it's the deeply ingrained belief that one must know how to create an outcome before taking the first step.  Jim illustrates how the moment someone clicks "buy now" on Amazon, they hand the process over to an intelligent system they don't understand, and trust it completely. Yet when it comes to their own desires, most people do the opposite — worrying, strategizing, and attempting to micromanage a delivery they were never meant to orchestrate.  This episode offers a paradigm shift that could change everything — and a single affirmation listeners can begin habituating today.  What You'll Discover in This Episode:  (00:00) The Thoreau challenge — Jim opens with Henry David Thoreau's call to advance confidently in the direction of one's dreams, and poses the central question of the episode: why don't most people actually do it?  (02:53) The real reason dreams stall — Jim identifies the core obstacle: not knowing how to create a desired outcome. When people can't see the path, they stop moving — and this episode dismantles that pattern entirely.  (06:18) The Amazon metaphor — Jim uses the mechanics of ordering on Amazon to show how effortlessly people trust an invisible, complex system to deliver results — and why they should extend that same trust to the universe.  (10:36) Stop micromanaging the delivery — Jim humorously illustrates what it would look like to try to control every step of an Amazon delivery, making plain how absurd — and counterproductive — it is to do the same thing when pursuing a life goal.  (15:06) It's not your job to know how — Jim shares his own shift from being "the king of how" to trusting that the universe is far more capable of orchestrating outcomes than the analytical mind ever could be.  (22:17) Action + trust, not action + worry — Jim explains why taking physical action while simultaneously worrying and strategizing cancels out results, and what it looks like to act from a place of aligned consciousness instead.    Listen, apply, and enjoy!  Transformational Takeaway  Most people abandon their desires not because the dream is too big, but because they can't see the path and have mistakenly made it their job to map every step. The universe doesn't need help figuring out how to deliver — it only needs to know what is wanted. Jim offers this affirmation to begin habituating: I do not know how [my desire] will come, and that is fine with me. The universe has channels I cannot see, and I am open to all of them.  Let's Connect:  Instagram | Facebook | YouTube | LinkedIn  LIKED THE EPISODE?  If you're the kind of person who likes to help others, then share this with your friends and family. Welcome to Season 6, Episode 25! Our guests today are Livia Blackburne and Julia Kuo, the author and illustrator of Bing's Cherries… A modern American tall tale woven by a girl and her father about Ah Bing, the Chinese immigrant behind the Pacific Northwest's most delicious cherries. The book was released on March 10, 2026. Julia Kuo is the author and illustrator of several books including Home Is a Wish, Let's Do Everything and Nothing, and Luminous: Living Things That Light Up the Night. She is also the illustrator of several notable picture books including When Love Is More Than Words by Jocelyn Chung, I Am an American: The Wong Kim Ark Story by Martha Brockenbrough and Grace Lin, and one of our favorites, I Dream of Popo by Livia Blackburne. Additionally, Julia has created editorial illustrations for publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Economist.  New York Times bestselling author Livia Blackburne wrote her first novel while researching the neuroscience of reading at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  Since then, she's switched to full-time writing, which also involves getting into people's heads but without the help of a three tesla MRI scanner.  Her YA books include Rosemarked (A YALSA Teens Top Ten Nominee), Disney's Feather and Flame, and Clementine and Danny Save the World (And Each Other) [A Junior Library Guild selection], as well as the picture books Dreams to Ashes (An Orbis Pictus Honor Book) and I Dream of Popo, which received three starred reviews and was on numerous Best of Year lists. We love how they intentionally mixed in some elements of Chinese mythology with actual history and the American tall tales genre. In our conversation, we talk about the inspiration for the story, what it's like working with familiar collaborators, their individual journeys, and so much more.  To learn more about Julia, you can visit juliakuo.com or follower her on instagram @juliaskuo. Toko-pa Turner is an author, dreamworker, and teacher whose work explores the profound relationship between dreams, belonging, and the human psyche. Drawing from the mystical tradition of Sufism and Jungian psychology, Toko-pa invites people to see dreams not as random events, but as living conversations with a deeper intelligence that guides us toward wholeness. Her award-winning books, Belonging: Remembering Ourselves Home and The Dreaming Way: Courting the Wisdom of Dreams, encourage readers to reconnect with the symbolic language of the soul and rediscover belonging as an inner, evolving experience rather than something to be found outside themselves. In this episode, host Shay Beider and Toko-pa explore how dreams can become trusted companions on the healing journey, offering insight into the parts of ourselves that long to be seen, understood, and integrated. Toko-pa shares how her own experiences growing up in a spiritual community marked by both beauty and abuse led her to the work of Carl Jung, where she discovered that much of our suffering stems from the divide between our public selves and our hidden inner lives. Together, they discuss the role of shadow work, the meaning behind recurring dreams and nightmares, and why approaching dreams with curiosity rather than fear allows them to become powerful allies in personal growth. Toko-pa explains that metaphors are the psyche's native language, serving as a bridge between the visible and invisible worlds, and that dreams often reveal our deepest potential long before we consciously recognize it. Rather than searching for belonging in external places, she invites listeners to see periods of exile, uncertainty, and even loneliness as essential parts of discovering who they truly are. Their conversation is a reminder that healing is not about becoming someone new, but about remembering the wholeness that has always existed within us—and allowing our dreams to gently lead us back home. Why do dreams matter, and how can we use them to support waking life? In this episode of The Dream Journal, host Katherine Bell speaks with Canadian author and health journalist Karen Van Kampen about her book The Brain Never Sleeps: Why We Dream and What It Means for Our Health. Together they explore dream science, memory, mental health, dream sharing, nightmare rescripting, dream engineering, lucid dreaming research, and the emerging study of anesthesia dreams as potentially healing experiences. Karen shares how childhood experiences in her father's sleep lab shaped her fascination with dreaming, why dreams may act like a “highlight reel” of waking concerns, and how practices such as dream journaling, dream salons, and imagery rehearsal therapy can help us engage dreams with curiosity and care. The conversation also looks at cutting-edge research on guiding dreams, communicating with lucid dreamers, and the possibility that anesthesia dreams may help people revisit difficult memories in a calm, transformative state. In honor of Father's Day today, I am rebroadcasting one of my favorite interviews I've ever done, first aired in 2024, and one of the only times I've had a father on the show to share his experience of what it was like to support his birthing partner. Couple Marion and Banks together share the sweet, intimate conception and homebirth story of their daughter. Banks was Marion's sole support person during the birth and shares what it was like to witness, hold space, and play a vital role in this transformative experience. I got to ask Banks some of the questions I've always wanted to hear from a conscious, intentional father about birth. Among other things, he shares: • How witnessing his partner birth their baby at home, sovereignly, helped heal generational birth trauma from his family of origin • How this birth experience transformed their relationship • What he would say to other fathers who carry fear around childbirth This is a wonderful story to share with the men in your life! If you love the show, I would greatly appreciate a review on  Spotify or Apple Podcasts!  Follow me on Instagram @healingbirth Do you have a birth story you'd like to share on the podcast, or would like to otherwise connect? I'm a new believer and keep hearing mixed messages about our security in Christ. Can we lose our salvation or not? When we sin as believers, do we need to repent? My parents have a friend who is constantly having dreams about people dying. How should we look at those dreams?

Before the adaptation, Denis Johnson's novella won the "O' Henry" and was a finalist for the Pulitzer for what critic Anthony Doerr hailed as an "American epic writ small." In episode 385, join writer Luke Elliott and filmmaker James Bailey as they explore Johnson's Hemingway-esque prose style, unpack the ambiguity of the supernatural, find meaning by letting go of the search for it, and discuss the dark history around the railroad's construction in the PNW. An Iranian refugee puts a human face on the fight for freedom from Iran's regime as author, speaker, and pastor David Nasser joins Al, Zach, and Jase to tell the story of his family's escape from Iran after the 1979 revolution. David describes the terrifying moment soldiers dragged his father away, their desperate escape plan, and the loneliness he felt after arriving in America as an outsider. But a group of Christians serving as volunteer waiters in his father's restaurant changed everything, eventually leading David and his whole family to Jesus. The guys also discuss the difference between Iran's people and its tyrannical regime, the courage of underground Iranian Christians, and why freedom is a gift Americans should never take for granted.
