The Suggestion Box is Dan and Martín's weekly deep dive into pop culture, headlines, and whatever else lands in the box, plus advice for your messiest situations. What's in the box:This week Dan and Martín pause the usual format to celebrate Dolly Parton, sharing personal memories (including one very starstruck backstage encounter), digging into deep cuts like her 1967 debut Hello, I'm Dolly and 1977's New Harvest... First Gathering, and spotlighting the Peabody winning podcast Dolly Parton's America. They get into her legacy beyond music too: Dollywood, the Imagination Library, her role in funding COVID vaccine research, and yes, her actual truck stop (glittering rhinestones, guitar shaped chandeliers, and cinnamon bread included). They also recommend the movie Dumplin' for anyone wanting more Dolly on screen. Rest in peace to a true icon. The box is open, the mics are on. Let's get into it.

Are you actually searching for a new life—or are you searching for permission to become who you already are?In this episode of Badass Basic Bitch, Brianna sits down with Dr. Sarah Webb, author, channeler, spiritual coach, and internationally recognized expert on colorism, for a powerful conversation about identity, worthiness, self-awareness, spirituality, and learning to distinguish the life you truly want from the one you've been conditioned to live.Dr. Sarah's path began in academia as an English professor working in the humanities and exploring complex social issues. Her work eventually evolved into a deeper examination of colorism, identity, healing, and spirituality. She is the author of Colorism: The Politics of Skin Tone and How We Get Free and now works with people through channeled coaching and dream journeys, guiding them on a heart-led mission to transform their lives from the inside out.Brianna and Dr. Sarah explore how much of our identity is consciously chosen versus inherited from our families, cultures, communities, and societal expectations. Dr. Sarah explains why the body can be one of our greatest sources of information when determining whether we're living authentically—and why tension, discomfort, expansion, dreams, and even daydreams deserve our attention. They also dive into colorism and the ways skin-tone bias can shape identity and worthiness, sometimes without people consciously recognizing its influence. Dr. Sarah shares why healing isn't only about understanding what happened to us, but recognizing the agency we have now to interrupt patterns and prevent pain from continuing into future generations. This conversation is an invitation to become curious about your own story: How much of your life reflects who you really are—and how much of it was handed to you?In This Episode, We Discuss:How to recognize whether you're living your own story or one that was handed to youThe difference between authentic desire and societal expectationWhy your body can reveal whether your life feels alignedHow identity can be both inherited and intentionally createdWhy changing your life doesn't always mean completely starting overDr. Sarah's journey from English professor to author, channeler, and spiritual coachHow childhood experiences with bullying shaped her compassion and workWhy she became passionate about helping people recognize their unrealized potentialWhat colorism is and why it's important to talk about itHow skin-tone discrimination can occur within the same racial or ethnic communityWhy colorism is a global issue that crosses culturesThe connection between colorism, internalized bias, and worthinessHow societal biases can influence identity without us consciously realizing itWhy healing our relationship with ourselves is foundationalWhat spirituality means outside of traditional religious definitionsHow dreams, daydreams, journaling, and self-reflection can deepen self-awarenessWhat Dr. Sarah means by a “dream journey”How dreams can provide information about our emotions, desires, and directionUsing body scans to recognize tension, expansion, and other physical signalsWhy noticing patterns is more powerful than analyzing one isolated experienceHow inherited and systemic wounds can continue across generationsThe role of agency in breaking cycles of trauma and painWhy becoming more self-aware can change what we pass down to the next generationMemorable Quote“Sometimes we don't need to move out of the house. Sometimes we need to renovate.” — Dr. Sarah WebbKey TakeawaysYour Body Knows When Something Doesn't FitOne of the simplest ways to begin questioning whether you're living authentically is to notice how your life actually feels.Rather than only asking, Does my life look successful? or Am I doing what I'm supposed to be doing?, Dr. Sarah encourages us to pay attention to what happens inside our bodies as we move through our days.Where do you feel tension? Where do you feel expansive? What drains you? What makes you feel more alive?Your body can provide information that your conscious mind has learned to ignore. You Can Honor Your Circumstances Without Being Defined by ThemNot every aspect of our lives is something we consciously chose. We inherit families, cultures, circumstances, expectations, identities, and experiences. But Dr. Sarah explains that recognizing what we've inherited doesn't mean we have no agency over what happens next.Sometimes transformation doesn't require abandoning everything and becoming someone completely different. Like renovating a house, we can examine what's already there, decide what still serves us, and intentionally rebuild the parts that don't.Colorism Is About More Than Skin ToneDr. Sarah defines colorism as discrimination based on skin tone, including discrimination that happens among people within the same racial or ethnic group. But the impact goes deeper than appearance.Colorism can influence how people are perceived, treated, valued, and how they eventually learn to perceive themselves. Because these messages can become deeply internalized, people may not recognize the role colorism has played in their identity until much later in life.Worthiness Starts With Your Relationship With YourselfExternal biases can eventually become internal beliefs. When we're repeatedly exposed to messages about which appearances, identities, or characteristics are considered more valuable, those ideas can shape our sense of worth—even when we consciously disagree with them.Healing requires examining not only how the world has treated us, but also the beliefs we've absorbed and the relationship we've developed with ourselves as a result.Your Dreams May Be Telling You SomethingDream work doesn't have to mean finding a mystical interpretation for every detail of a dream.Dr. Sarah encourages people to simply begin paying attention.Keep a journal beside your bed. Write down what you remember. Notice your daydreams too. What were you thinking about? What was happening immediately before it? What emotions came up?Over time, patterns may emerge that help reveal desires, fears, needs, and possibilities that aren't getting your attention during everyday life.Self-Awareness Can Start With a Simple Body ScanYou don't need an elaborate spiritual practice to become more connected to yourself.Pause and scan your body.Notice your jaw, shoulders, chest, stomach, hands, and legs. Where are you holding tension? Where do you feel relaxed? What happens in your body when you think about certain people, decisions, or areas of your life? The goal isn't to immediately fix what you notice. It's to start listening.Healing Gives Us an Opportunity to Break the CycleWe may inherit wounds, biases, beliefs, behaviors, and coping mechanisms from the people and systems that came before us.But inheritance doesn't have to equal destiny.Dr. Sarah emphasizes the importance of recognizing our agency. We may not have chosen what happened to us or what was passed down to us, but becoming conscious of those patterns gives us an opportunity to make different choices—and change what gets passed forward.A Simple Self-Awareness PracticeIf you want to begin exploring some of the ideas from this episode, Dr. Sarah suggests starting small:Keep a dream journal. Write down what you remember when you wake up, even if it's only a few details.Pay attention to your daydreams. Notice not only what you're imagining, but what was happening when your mind went there.Scan your body. Notice tension, discomfort, relaxation, and expansion without immediately trying to change any of it.Look for patterns. One dream, thought, or sensation may not mean much by itself. Pay attention to what keeps returning.Get curious about your story. Ask yourself which parts of your life feel consciously chosen and which might reflect expectations or identities you've inherited. The goal isn't to have all the answers. It's to become more aware of the information you're already receiving.Connect with Dr. Sarah WebbDr. Sarah Webb is an author, channeler, spiritual coach, and internationally recognized expert on colorism. Through channeled coaching and dream journeys, she guides students on a heart-led mission to transform their world from the inside out.

The Grand Theft Auto 6 rumor mill is firing on all cylinders. Alleged leaks suggest GTA 6 could make players actually refuel their cars, because apparently escaping the cops and committing fictional felonies wasn't immersive enough. Now we may get the authentic experience of realizing the tank is on E at the absolute worst possible moment.Would stolen cars come with random amounts of gas? Could you abandon one because the tank is empty? Would GTA Costco memberships get you cheaper fuel? These are the important questions being asked by this comedy podcast while the rest of society presumably does something productive. Then we discover—or rediscover, depending on how damaged everyone's memory is—the 1985 cinematic achievement known as Gymkata. The premise is magnificently stupid: take gymnastics, combine it with karate and create an unstoppable martial art. That's it. That's the movie. Olympic gymnast Kurt Thomas is sent on a dangerous mission where his greatest weapon is himself…and the conveniently placed gymnastics equipment that somehow keeps appearing whenever dozens of bad guys need to be kicked in the face.Moon reveals that Gymkata has been living rent-free in his subconscious since childhood, including scenes that still randomly appear in his dreams. This launches the crew into an extremely important celebration of the ridiculous action and sports movies of the '80s: Rad, No Retreat, No Surrender, Best of the Best, No Holds Barred, Bloodsport and the glorious era when movie executives could apparently greenlight anything as long as somebody knew karate.Naturally, Jean-Claude Van Damme doing the splits leads Lern to ask questions about male anatomy that nobody was emotionally prepared to answer. Suddenly we're discussing whether men have a “seam,” whether God is responsible for said seam, and why absolutely none of this information was included in health class. And then Steven Seagal arrives. The crew finds audio of Seagal telling a story about being in Kazakhstan before stopping to ask, “How do you say in English…” despite being born in Lansing, Michigan. What follows is a forensic investigation into Steven Seagal's increasingly mysterious relationship with the English language, fake accents, international travel and whether spending enough time somewhere can legitimately change how you talk. From there, Crap on Celebrities turns surprisingly philosophical when Dr. Dre and Billy Corgan land on opposite sides of the AI music debate. Dre sees artificial intelligence as another creative tool, while Corgan wants absolutely nothing to do with it. Moon breaks down how producers already use loops, samples and pre-built musical elements, leading to a bigger question: where exactly does using technology stop being a tool and start becoming “cheating”?This comedy podcast also gets into Bret Michaels recovering from kidney stone surgery while apparently refusing to surrender his hat under any circumstances, Kacey Musgraves performing while floating on giant disco-ball truck nuts, Dolly Parton exploring avatar performances, Bonnaroo taking a year off, and St. Louis artist Slater covering Hole's “Violet.”Plus, the CW dumps Miss USA and Miss Teen USA, DC apparently decides Gorilla Grodd needs a true-crime mockumentary, National Treasure 3 inches closer to becoming a real movie, and Lern takes everyone on an unsolicited but surprisingly enjoyable Whitesnake journey. Then we wrap things up with celebrity birthdays—including Dave Chappelle, Cal Ripken Jr., Steve Guttenberg and Vince McMahon—before heading toward relationship fun facts and the mysterious 7-7-7 rule. It's GTA rumors, '80s movie nostalgia, celebrity news, music industry arguments, St. Louis chaos and several conversations that should've ended three sentences earlier. In other words: a comedy podcast.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

With powerful anecdotes and scientific insights, Kim challenges societal norms and invites everyone to embrace their innate spiritual sensitivities for a more fulfilled and aware life.Key Takeaways:Intuition is a powerful tool that can guide individuals through life's complexities, aiding them in making decisions aligned with their highest potential.Near-death experiences often provide profound insights into consciousness and reveal a purpose-filled existence, enhancing one's understanding and appreciation of life.Synchronicities and spiritual signs should be viewed as important, non-random events that invite individuals to pay attention to the deeper meanings in their lives. Many people possess latent spiritual sensitivities, such as clairvoyance and mediumship, often passed down generationally, that remain untapped due to societal constraints.Encouraging conversations on spirituality, especially among youth, can foster a healthier understanding of intuition and potentially mitigate issues like depression and violence.Timestamp Summary3:40 A Spiritual Journey from Reluctance to Fulfillment6:02 Discovering Clairvoyant Abilities Through Personal Loss and Connection10:53 Embracing Intuition and Sensitivity in a Skeptical World18:27 The Transformative Power of Near Death Experiences24:19 The Rise of Light Workers and Spiritual Conversations26:17 A Child's Uncanny Prediction of a Natural Disaster28:58 Communicating With Spirits and Understanding Their Signs36:25 Intuition, Dreams, and Spiritual Connections39:26 The Power and Limits of Prayer in Healing and Loss42:25 Exploring Synchronicities and Dreams as Invitations to Awareness46:21 Unveiling Hidden Psychic Abilities and Family Secrets49:03 Exploring Intuition, Consciousness, and Unseen ConnectionsResources:Visit Kim Bandle's official website for more information: KimSBantle.comPurchase Kim Bandle's memoir: Confessions of a Closeted Clairvoyant on AmazonLink to Transcript https://www.buzzsprout.com/1761155/19672612-intuition-series-the-transformative-power-of-clairvoyance/transcriptSee this video on The Transform Your Mind YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/@MyhelpsUs/videosTo see a transcripts of this audio as well as links to all the advertisers on the show page https://myhelps.us/Follow Transform Your Mind on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/myrnamyoung/Follow Transform Your mind on Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063738390977Please leave a rating and review on iTunes https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/transform-your-mind/id1144973094Feedspot Top 100 Mental Health Podcast For sponsored Brand interviews and sponsorship inquires please visit Partner With The Transform Your Mind Podcast | Myrna Young Life Coach

What do you do when you know you were made for more, but you do not know what the next step is? In this episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Nick Surface and Garrett Unclebach talk about the deep ache many Christian men feel when they know they are not fully living their purpose. That feeling is not random. It is the eternal calling card of God inside a man, reminding him that he was created for a reason and that his life is meant to matter beyond comfort, survival, or success. This conversation gives men a practical framework for discovering and moving forward in purpose: what is in your heart and what is in your hand. The heart carries desire, dream, calling, and the internal pull toward what God placed inside you. But that dream has to stay on the altar, because even a God-given desire can become corrupted if it becomes more important than Jesus. What is in your hand represents the gifts, abilities, experiences, resources, and opportunities God has already entrusted to you. Many men stay stuck because they are waiting for what they do not have instead of becoming faithful with what they do.Purpose is not found by sitting still and waiting for God to write the whole plan in the sky. It is walked out through faith, discipline, self-mastery, stewardship, and obedience in the current season. Biblical masculinity means holding humility and ambition together: dreaming greatly, but trusting God for promotion; developing your skillsets, but keeping your motive pure; taking action, but staying submitted. If you want everything God has for your life, this episode will challenge you to stop waiting, take inventory, and become fully faithful with the heart and hand He has already given you.Get With NuWave Home Lenders By Clicking HereJoin a group of likeminded Impossible Life listeners in our FREE Skool community by clicking here.Get the Purpose Playbook by clicking hereGet the FREE Basic Discipline Training 30 Day Program by clicking hereJoin us in Mindset Mastery by clicking hereLevel up your nutrition with IDLife by clicking hereGET IN TOUCHSocial Media - @theimpossiblelifeEmail - info@theimpossible.life

Today's guest reached out to me just after welcoming her fifth baby at home, in what she described as a deeply healing birth. Her journey to this birth was shaped by four very different experiences before it, including a hospital birth, two previous homebirths and a traumatic freebirth with her fourth baby. Looking back, she doesn't blame freebirth itself for what happened. Instead, she recognizes that there were moments when she needed support and didn't seek it, an experience that profoundly changed the way she approached birth the next time around. For her fifth baby, she chose to birth at home again, this time with trusted support around her. What unfolded was the beautiful, attended homebirth she had hoped for and an experience that helped bring healing to the birth that came before it. In this episode, she shares what her five births have taught her about intuition, support, and knowing when to reach for help. She reflects on why she still believes in the beauty of freebirth while also recognizing that, sometimes, having the right person beside you can be lifesaving. Most of all, her story is a reminder that healing doesn't require us to erase or reject the births that came before. Each experience can shape us, teach us, and become part of the mothers we are becoming. Episode Description:This is a From the Archive episode with Arianna Huffington.Arianna Huffington returns to the show for a conversation about sleep, success, reinvention, and the cultural delusion that burnout is the price of achievement.James begins by asking practical sleep questions: Is nine hours too much? Can sleep be split into two four-hour blocks? Arianna explains that for most people, seven to nine hours is the real range, and that sleep should leave a person fully recharged, not limping through the day waiting for a second shift of rest. From there, James rewinds to Arianna's career. Before The Huffington Post, before Thrive Global, before The Sleep Revolution, Arianna had already spent decades writing, appearing on television, entering politics, changing positions, and reinventing herself. She credits her mother with giving her the belief that failure was not the opposite of success, but a stepping stone toward it.One of the central stories is Arianna's second book being rejected by 36 publishers. Out of money and unsure whether she should remain a writer, she walked into a bank in London and asked for a loan. The manager gave it to her. That small act kept her on the path.James and Arianna then talk about The Huffington Post: its rough launch, brutal early reviews, the team behind it, the importance of creating a platform, and the thrill of giving unknown people a chance to be heard. Arianna tells one of her favorite stories about a homeless teenager whose writing on HuffPost helped lead to Harvard discovering him.The conversation then turns to the 2007 collapse that changed Arianna's relationship with sleep. Arianna says the problem was not just personal overwork. It was a collective belief that sleep deprivation is required for success. But James pushes her on the personal side too, and Arianna acknowledges perfectionism: building a company, raising daughters, trying to be a perfect mother, and working through the night after college-tour days with her daughter.Arianna's answer is not a rigid sleep doctrine. It is a series of small steps. Build a transition. Remove devices from the bedroom. Lower the lights. Take a bath or shower. Read a physical book. Use gratitude as the closing scene of the day. If you wake up at 3 a.m., meditate instead of spiraling. The episode closes with joy. For Arianna, sleep is not only about health and productivity. It is about being present enough to experience life while it is happening.Editorial Note:This is a From the Archive episode. References to Arianna's role at The Huffington Post, HuffPost's size and global expansion, her contract, sleep resources, and digital products reflect the original recording period. This episode discusses sleep, medication, insomnia, health, and wellbeing. It should not be treated as medical advice. Anyone dealing with chronic insomnia, sleep medication dependence, depression, narcolepsy, or other health concerns should speak with a qualified clinician. What You'll Learn:Why Arianna says sleep deprivation is not a requirement for achievement. How her 2007 collapse changed her view of success, productivity, and wellbeing. Why most people need seven to nine hours of sleep. Why she sees failure as a stepping stone, not the opposite of success. How her mother shaped her courage, optimism, and relationship to fear. Why The Huffington Post was built as both a journalistic enterprise and a platform for voices. How brutal early reviews tested the HuffPost team. Why Arianna believes teams matter most during hard times. How perfectionism contributed to her burnout. Why sleep affects health, productivity, decision-making, creativity, and joy.Why dreams matter for memory, insight, and new ideas. How to start a sleep transition with small microsteps. Why removing devices from the bedroom is one of the first practical changes. How gratitude can become the “closing scene” of the day.Why waking up in the middle of the night is not the problem—the stress spiral is.How meditation can help turn middle-of-the-night waking into rest. Why being exhausted makes people miss the moment.Timestamped Chapters:[03:02] Arianna Huffington ReturnsJames introduces Arianna and The Sleep Revolution, and they start with the practical question of how much sleep is enough.[03:51] Can You Split Sleep Into Two Blocks?James asks about sleeping four hours in the afternoon and four at night; Arianna explains why waking up fully recharged matters.[05:16] The Secret Origins of Arianna HuffingtonJames moves from sleep to Arianna's long career of writing, media, politics, public life, and reinvention.[06:20] Failure as a Stepping StoneArianna credits her mother with teaching her to aim high and see failure as part of the path.[08:06] Rejected by 36 PublishersArianna remembers running out of money in London, walking into Barclays Bank, and receiving the loan that helped her stay a writer.[09:52] The Huffington Post BeginsArianna explains HuffPost as both a journalism operation and a platform for known and unknown voices.[11:28] The Magic of the InternetArianna tells the story of a homeless teenager whose HuffPost piece helped bring him to Harvard's attention.[11:48] When the Launch Reviews Were BrutalJames asks whether Arianna ever worried HuffPost would fail, and she remembers harsh early criticism.[12:42] Everything Is Rigged in Your FavorArianna describes the spiritual belief that helped her move through fear, uncertainty, and dark periods.[13:18] Moving Continents After HeartbreakArianna explains how leaving a relationship in London led to her life in America, her daughters, her career, and The Huffington Post.[14:19] Life After Selling HuffPostJames asks how Arianna's life changed after the sale, and she explains why the company still felt new because it kept evolving.[15:20] The Collapse That Changed EverythingArianna connects her 2007 collapse from exhaustion to the wellness work that eventually became The Sleep Revolution.[16:32] The Collective Delusion About SleepArianna explains why modern culture wrongly treats sleep deprivation as essential to achievement.[18:02] Perfectionism, Work, and MotherhoodJames pushes on the personal side of Arianna's burnout, and she identifies the pressure to be perfect at work and at home.[20:16] Why Sleep MattersArianna lays out the benefits of sleep across health, productivity, decision-making, creativity, and emotional life.[21:53] What the Brain Does While We SleepArianna explains why sleep is not passive downtime, but a period of active cleanup and restoration.[23:21] Sleep and ProductivityArianna argues that sacrificing sleep for work backfires because it reduces judgment, creativity, engagement, and performance.[25:08] Sleep as a Performance EnhancerJames brings up willpower and negotiation, and Arianna adds the example of athletes using sleep to improve performance.[26:49] First Understand the CrisisArianna explains why people need to change their minds about sleep before they can change their habits.[27:30] Dreams, Memory, and InsightArianna talks about dreams and recommends writing them down when you wake up.[28:32] Sleeping Pills and Better AlternativesJames asks about medication, and Arianna points to behavioral approaches and sleep preparation.[29:50] The Sleep TransitionArianna explains the importance of beginning somewhere, even with just five or ten minutes.[30:57] Escort Your Devices Out of the BedroomArianna recommends turning off phones, laptops, and tablets before bed and creating a clean boundary between day and sleep.[31:24] Bath, Books, Temperature, and GratitudeArianna describes her wind-down routine: water, dedicated sleep clothes, lower lights, a cool room, physical books, and three things she is grateful for.[33:42] The 3 A.M. Danielle Fishel and Patrick Renna are thirty years past Boy Meets World and The Sandlot, and both of them now spend their weekends on a Little League field yelling things they immediately regret. They join Covino and Rich on Overpromised to talk about Dugout Dads, the comedy series that reunites most of the original Sandlot cast, premiering August 26 on Patrick Renna's YouTube channel. Patrick explains how the idea came from a real championship loss where the parents were crying in the parking lot while the kids played tag five seconds later, and why he had to apologize to a rival coach who unfollowed him on social media. Danielle explains what it feels like to have people watch her go to high school for three decades, why she said yes to the show immediately, and what it was really like coaching, parenting and dancing eight hours a day at the same time. Rich also finds out on the air whether the kids on his team actually like him as much as he says they do. Plus first concert confessions, which 90s movies survive a screening with your own kids, the Gen Z assistant who did not get Field of Dreams, and how Travis Kelce ended up naming a dog after Wendy Peffercorn #FSR #CRSHOW #OverpromisedSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 18, 2026 25:12

Twenty years after helping the St. Louis Cardinals win the 2006 World Series, Randy Flores is back with The Rizzuto Show — except now he's sitting on the other side of baseball, helping find the players who could become the Cardinals' next generation of stars. The Cardinals assistant GM of scouting and acquisition joins this comedy podcast to talk about Draft365: Scouting MLB's Future Stars, a behind-the-scenes look at a side of professional baseball fans almost never get to see.And when we say behind the scenes, we mean it.Flores explains how roughly 23 Cardinals scouts spread across the country evaluate elite high school and college talent, how players make their way onto the organization's radar, and what happens when scouts, analysts, data engineers, performance specialists and actual human eyeballs all have to agree on which teenager might someday be standing at Busch Stadium.Turns out it's slightly more complicated than your uncle saying, “Kid's got a good swing.”Randy also explains just how absurdly difficult it is to reach Major League Baseball. The crew immediately starts Googling percentages, Rafe consults what basically becomes “Gronk AI,” and everyone arrives at the same scientific conclusion:Your odds aren't great.Even the players who get drafted were usually THE player where they came from — the best kid in their town, school or region — only to arrive in professional baseball and discover they're now surrounded by hundreds of other guys who were also the best kid everywhere they came from.Welcome to the world's most emotionally devastating All-Star team.Flores talks about seeing that firsthand after being drafted himself and walking into the Yankees system, where he realized his team was only one of several groups making cuts — inside just one organization. Multiply that by the rest of Major League Baseball and suddenly “making the show” sounds less like a career plan and more like surviving a very athletic Hunger Games. The conversation also dives into Cardinals prospects like Jordan Walker and Joshua Baez, including how the unusual COVID-era draft helped St. Louis feel confident about Walker and how adversity in the minor leagues helped prepare Baez for his eventual opportunity. And despite baseball becoming more obsessed with analytics, Randy explains why scouting still can't be reduced to numbers on a screen. Players leave home. They struggle. They get hurt. They fail for possibly the first time in their lives. Scouts aren't only evaluating what someone can do when everything is going right — they're trying to figure out what happens when baseball punches them directly in the mouth. That's where the human side still matters. For parents convinced they're currently raising the next MLB superstar, Flores also delivers some advice that may save everybody several thousand dollars and one deeply uncomfortable car ride home: if the kid is truly good enough, scouts will find them. Parents can help most by supporting the kid instead of turning every Little League game into Game 7 of the World Series. The pressure is already enormous. Kids now have rankings, social media clips and embarrassing moments that can follow them indefinitely. Randy's advice is refreshingly simple: home should still be the safe place. We also get into Randy's unusual road from an eight-year MLB career to graduate school, broadcasting, coaching, entrepreneurship and eventually a phone call from John Mozeliak asking whether he'd consider becoming a scouting director — to which Randy essentially responded, “Cool. What's a scouting director?”Career planning!Plus, Randy previews the 20-year reunion of the 2006 World Series champion Cardinals and explains what he hopes fans take away from Draft365: behind every prospect is an enormous group of people obsessively trying to keep the Cardinals' pipeline loaded with talent.By the end, Rafe wants to be scouted, Moon wants a job, Jon Lovitz's performance as a scout in A League of Their Own is finally evaluated by an actual professional, and somehow Marla Hooch helps bring the interview home. It's baseball insight, St. Louis Cardinals history and just enough nonsense to remind Randy he willingly walked into a comedy podcast.Twenty-five minutes later, we're all convinced we're getting drafted. We're not.But that's never stopped this comedy podcast before.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
