This week's Alabama Saltwater Fishing Report covers the late-August transition across the Alabama Gulf Coast, from white marlin and sailfish offshore to mangrove snapper, bridge redfish, wade-fishing trout, white trout, flounder, and improving reef conditions. Butch Thierry is joined by Angelo DePaola, who opens the show with a look at Alabama's growing light-tackle billfish fishery and why September and October could be special months offshore. Capt. Ben Knight of Great Southern Fishing Charters kicks off the reports from Orange Beach, where mangrove snapper have been one of the most consistent late-summer bites around docks, rocks, jetties, bridge structure, and deeper current. He explains why croakers, spots, LYs, and small pogies can outproduce shrimp, and how the same Carolina-rig setup can lead to bonus flounder, redfish, and jack crevalle. Capt. Bobby Abruscato of A-Team Fishing follows with a Mississippi Sound and Dauphin Island report focused on speckled trout, wade fishing, Slick Juniors, popping corks, shrimp activity, white trout, flounder, and redfish. Bobby breaks down why hard bottom, grass, shell, bait, fish slicks, stealth, and boat positioning matter so much this time of year. The episode also includes a sponsor spotlight with Daniel and Ed Bejrowski of Slipski, who talk with Joe Baya about aluminum dock and boat-cover systems built for Gulf Coast conditions. Capt. Kendall Annan of Gulf Rebel Charters closes the show with an offshore report covering red snapper, triggerfish, beeliners, amberjack, grouper, Spanish and king mackerel, cobia, wahoo, dolphin, and tuna prospects, along with what he learns from diving and scouting reefs late in the season. Ohio State held another scrimmage on Saturday, and while there may not have been a flood of highlight-reel plays, there were still some important developments coming out of the day.In this episode of The Buckeye Weekly Podcast, Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr discuss the latest scrimmage intel, including where things appear to stand on the offensive line, how the defense responded after a rougher first scrimmage, and why the Buckeyes may simply be reaching that point in camp where everybody is ready to hit someone else. The guys also discuss why Ian Moore now looks like the starting left tackle, why that likely means Austin Siereveld at right guard, what the defense did better the second time around, and why some banged-up players at this point in August are not necessarily cause for concern.0:02 — Welcome to the Buckeye Weekly Podcast0:13 — Getting scrimmage intel out to BuckeyeInsiders.com members0:40 — What came out of Saturday's scrimmage?1:12 — Some Buckeyes are banged up, but there's no major concern2:00 — Why this is normal in the middle of August3:10 — Don't panic every time someone misses practice3:42 — Ian Moore appears to have won the left tackle job4:17 — Why Austin Siereveld now looks like the right guard5:02 — Expecting an official offensive line answer from Ryan Day6:48 — The defense bounced back after a rough first scrimmage7:20 — Why Payton Pierce challenged the defense after Scrimmage No. 18:43 — Comparing Ohio State's camp dynamic to Texas9:30 — Why a more balanced scrimmage is good news for the defense10:22 — Camp is getting chippy11:03 — The Buckeyes are ready to hit somebody else11:37 — Why this happens every year near the end of camp12:32 — Ohio State's physical camp and the light at the end of the tunnel13:28 — Final thoughts on the scrimmage13:57 — Ryan Day availability and BuckeyeInsiders.com14:10 — ClosingDo you feel better about the defense after hearing how the second scrimmage went?

There are all sort of shenanigans going on, so we're here to discuss the accounting frauds, grifts, and tricks currently plaguing the market. We talk the financial structures being used to fund the booming AI industry, including debt, stock issuance, vendor financing, and special purpose vehicles, while highlighting the importance of recognizing financial "shenanigans" and understanding why companies choose different financing methods. We also explore accounting red flags, Wall Street incentives, government investment in companies like Intel, and lessons from past market bubbles. We also check the current trends in stocks, small caps, gold, oil, copper, Bitcoin, Japanese markets, bonds and more.  We discuss...  AI companies are using debt, stock issuance, and special purpose vehicles to fund the massive capital requirements of the AI boom. How vendor financing and factoring can signal potential cash-flow problems or financial stress. Companies may issue stock to raise capital, protect their balance sheets, or take advantage of elevated valuations. Lessons from the dot-com bubble and the risks of vendor financing and aggressive accounting practices. Wall Street's incentives can create bullish biases and discourage analysts from publicly criticizing companies. Government investment in strategically important companies like Intel can provide short-term support while creating longer-term concerns. The S&P 500 remains in an upward trend while the Nasdaq and technology stocks continue to consolidate within trading ranges. Small-cap stocks have been performing well despite receiving relatively little attention from investors. Gold, copper, oil, Bitcoin, and Japanese stocks were reviewed for their latest market trends and potential opportunities. Rising inflation could keep long-term interest rates elevated and create continued pressure on bond prices. The discussion emphasized favoring higher-quality, shorter-duration bonds given the risks surrounding interest rates and credit spreads. The growing U.S. government debt burden could create a difficult cycle of rising interest costs and additional borrowing. Federal Reserve wealth data showed a significant gap between average and median household net worth across age groups. Inflation can disproportionately hurt lower-wealth households because wealthier investors are better positioned to own assets that can rise with inflation.  Today's Panelists: Kirk Chisholm | Innovative Wealth Barbara Friedberg | Barbara Friedberg Personal Finance Phil Weiss | Apprise Wealth Management Douglas Heagren | Mergent College Advisors Marc Walton | Forex Mentor Pro Tim Baker | Metric Fin Diana Perkins | Trading With Diana   Follow on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/moneytreepodcast Follow LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/showcase/money-tree-investing-podcast Follow on Twitter/X: https://x.com/MTIPodcast For more information, visit the full show notes at https://moneytreepodcast.com/accounting-fraud-grifts-and-tricks-843

Most hunters spend the offseason obsessing over the wrong things. They're pouring over maps, pulling cards, debating stand locations. And none of that matters if they walk in like they own the place and blow every deer out of the county before they ever climb a tree. I've been guilty of it. I think most honest hunters have. You find a great spot, you're fired up, and you walk straight to it. Mature deer don't care how good your Intel is. They care about pressure. And the way you get in and out of your stand is pressure. Access isn't a logistics problem. It's a hunting problem. It's actually the hunting problem. What I've come to understand after enough seasons of doing it wrong is that access needs to be treated like a system. Not a path from your truck to your stand, but a thought-out process that accounts for wind, thermals, deer movement, and the cumulative pressure you're putting on a piece of ground over the course of a season. Every entry. Every exit. Every time your scent drifts into a bedding area you didn't know was there. The hunters who consistently kill mature deer aren't smarter than you. They're more disciplined about the invisible stuff. The stuff that doesn't show up on a Spartan camera card or in a HuntStand layer. The way they approach their spots is calculated in a way that most hunters never think to calculate. In this episode, I break down how I think about access as a complete system: route planning that actually accounts for deer behavior, scent management that goes beyond spraying your boots, and the mindset shift that separates guys who hunt hard from guys who hunt smart. If you've ever wondered why a spot goes cold after a few sits, this one might answer that question. The best stand in the world is worthless if the deer know you're there before you do.
