Can a global pandemic become the launchpad for your wildest dreams? For Jennifer Hartman, being laid off alongside her husband during COVID created the perfect "now or never" moment that transformed this shy, introverted mom into a bestselling romance author with 14 books in just four years.Jennifer pulls back the curtain on her meteoric rise in publishing, sharing how her fourth book "Still Beating" – a dark romance about two people chained together in a basement – unexpectedly caught fire online and is now being adapted for film. With refreshing candor, she discusses the emotional vulnerability of sharing her words with strangers and the surreal experience of seeing her books on Target shelves. Her creative process might surprise you; each book gets its own unique Spotify playlist that helps spark inspiration when writer's block strikes. What's most touching is how Jennifer's stories have profoundly impacted readers' lives. She recounts a tearful encounter with a woman who credited one of Jennifer's books for giving her a reason to live during a dark period. These connections remind us why storytelling matters. Meanwhile, at home, her family dynamic has evolved beautifully as her husband transitioned from corporate life to becoming her business partner and stay-at-home dad, handling everything from book covers to household management.Whether you're harboring secret dreams of authorship or simply love hearing how ordinary people achieve extraordinary things, Jennifer's journey proves that stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to unimaginable success. As she puts it: "It doesn't matter how big or wild your dream seems, it is absolutely attainable. You just have to do the steps to get there."On this episode, Jennifer HartmannMore about Jennifer!Jennifer Hartmann is a celebrated romance author known for her captivating storytelling and heartfelt narratives.

The discussion centered on the concept of "deficit delusion," where Kerry Lutz and John Tamny argued that the perceived crisis of government debt is a misinterpretation, attributing the real issue to excessive government resource consumption. John highlighted that government spending limits societal advancement, while Kerry pointed out that the current system facilitates easy borrowing through excessive revenue collection. They characterized the situation as a form of theft through taxation, emphasizing that high levels of government intervention lead to economic inefficiencies and lost opportunities for taxpayers. They suggested that maintaining government spending at historical levels could have significantly enhanced national wealth. The conversation also explored the relationship between personal mental states and economic perceptions, with John asserting that savings drive economic growth more than consumption. They discussed the importance of individual economic freedom and the detrimental effects of policies that restrict wealth and trade. Kerry advocated for improved economic education, drawing parallels to successful public health campaigns, while John critiqued the dominance of Keynesian thought in economic education. They further examined the implications of currency stability on economic health, criticizing past administrations for dollar devaluation. The discussion concluded with reflections on the significance of John's upcoming book, "The Deficit Delusion." Drawing on Romm's newest book, Plato and the Tyrant, Sachs and Romm explore the extraordinary story of how the great philosopher Plato attempted over the course of three decades to bring philosophy into the heart of government.Together, they delve into Plato's journey to the court of the autocratic ruler Dionysius in ancient Syracuse, where he hoped to transform a tyrant into a philosopher-king. They discuss the political turmoil that unfolded, Plato's close relationship with the philosophically minded Dion, and how Plato's experiences deeply shaped his writing of The Republic.  Romm reveals how Plato's real-world political experiences ultimately informed his later, more sober work The Laws, and how these texts reflect a lifelong quest to define justice, leadership, and the possibility of a virtuous society. This episode offers listeners a rich narrative of political intrigue, philosophical ambition, and the enduring relevance of Plato's quest to unite ethics and power - an ancient story with striking implications for our world today. The Book Club with Jeffrey Sachs is brought to you by the SDG Academy, the flagship education initiative of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

What happens when a college football player gets locked up in Beijing for smoking weed and turns it into a bestselling book empire?Picture this: You're 24, fresh out of college, teaching English in Beijing when three Chinese police officers knock on your door. Within hours, you're locked in a cell with 14 Chinese men you can't communicate with, eating three bowls of soup a day with nothing but a plastic spoon. No one knows where you are. No one's coming to save you.But here's the kicker – Chancellor saw opportunity where others would see only despair.Instead of playing victim, he took accountability. Instead of making excuses, he made plans. And instead of letting this experience break him, he turned those 15 days into a #1 bestselling book that launched a publishing empire. In this raw, unfiltered conversation, Chancellor breaks down:The exact moment he knew his life was about to change foreverHow football taught him the accountability that saved his sanity in prisonWhy he refuses to blame anyone but himself for his decisionsThe transition from athlete to entrepreneur that most ex-players never figure outHow he's now coaching both kids on the field AND aspiring authors to bestseller statusCONNECT WITH CHANCELLOR JACKSON:Instagram: @korlehjLinkedIn: Chancellor Jackson YouTube: @10korleh Book: Welcome to the No BS Wealth Podcast with Stoy Hall, your candid guide to financial clarity.

Kerry Lutz and Byron King analyze silver's climb past $35 an ounce—its highest level in over a decade. Byron attributes the surge to gold's strong performance, rising industrial demand, and major government stockpiling from China, India, and Russia. He also highlights growing institutional interest, pointing to a long-term bullish outlook and urging investors to consider silver shares. They discuss how falling diesel prices are improving mining margins despite rising labor and material costs, though drill rig shortages persist. Byron stresses patience and sector focus in precious metals, noting that price dips often present buying opportunities. The conversation also covers increased defense spending tied to the Ukraine-Russia war and the need to rebuild U.S. shipbuilding.
