Ric Scalzo joins Corinna Bellizzi to share how he masterfully combines his knowledge with herbal medicine, regenerative farming, and ancient traditions to bring healing to people and the world as a whole. Ric explains why he believes the future of medicine begins with a microbiome of the soil and ourselves, as well as how to grow high-quality crops through regenerative practices while keeping the soil healthy. Ric also shares the many lessons he has learned from founding Gaia Herbs to starting his newest venture Kokora Life.***Get 20% off Kokora products (Care More Be Better will ALSO receive a commission) with the coupon code: CAREMORE20 or just follow this link and the coupon will auto-load in your cart: https://kokoralife.com/discount/CAREMORE20 ***About Guest:Ric Scalzo began his exploration of herbal and naturopathic medicine in 1980, delving into fields such as Naturopathic Herbal Medicine, Eclectic Herbal Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and various diagnostic methods. SHOW NOTES: The pioneering physician scientist behind the New York Times bestseller Eat to Beat Disease reveals the science of eating your way to healthyweight loss. In his first groundbreaking book, Dr. William Li explored the world of food as medicine. By eating foods that you already enjoy, like tomatoes, blueberries, sourdough bread, and dark chocolate your body activates its five health defense systems to fight cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular, neurodegenerative autoimmune diseases, and other debilitating conditions. Now in Eat to Beat Your Diet, Dr. Li introduces the surprising new science of weight loss, revealing healthy body fat can help you lose weight; your metabolism at 60 can be the same as when you were 20; yo-yo dieting can be good for your health; 8-hour fasting windows can be as effective as 12-hour fasting windows; and losing just a little bit of weight can have big impacts on your health. Eat to Beat Your Diet shows readers how adding the right foods to your diet can heal your metabolism, reduce unhealthy body fat, and result in the kind of weight loss that can increase your lifespan and help you thrive. For more great episodes of Forever Young Radio Show, find it on your favorite podcasting platform, or visit: https://foreveryoungradio.com To find out more about Dr. William Li and his great work visit: https://drwilliamli.com/Love the show? It was an incredible gathering of like-minded individuals who are pushing for real change. Each person in attendance was and is dedicated to soil and to health. We felt the quiet prayers of Wendy Johnson who led the opening ceremonies, and even tasted the life-giving force of apples grown on the farm as the day began.Enjoy two sessions from the many offered that day, in this week's audio only presentation. You'll hear from Starhawk on Permaculture and from Brock Dolman on California Watershed issues and progress. Building a movement takes organization, inspiration, intuition, luck, and a lot of hard work. Rhiannon Menn is the founder and CEO of Lasagna Love, a grass-roots not-for-profit organization that engages and supports communities across the United States, and which has launched a viral movement during the Covid-19 pandemic. She joins Corinna & Jules to talk about the power of community, leveraging tools like Facebook groups and Zapier, and the importance of asking for help when you need it. You'll hear how her volunteer organization leveraged their volunteers and the talents of students from her alma mater, MIT, to build an algorithm that would enable them scale their business and grow. Rhiannon even shares some news, including how using TikTok has helped Lasagna Love gain exposure and raise funds (with no strings attached) from an unlikely source, Kentucky Fried Chicken. As of the recording of this podcast, 215,000 lasagnas have been baked and delivered to people in need across the United States. 00:00 Introduction04:00 Overcoming helplessness and launching a movement with love and lasagna12:33 Tim Yewchuck's The Perfect Week Method16:55 How to connect with with media19:05 Getting attention on TikTok27:10 Rhiannon's namesake -- from Fleetwood Mac to the Salem Witch TrialsResources Mentioned: Rhiannon Menn on Care More Be Better, Episode #10: https://caremorebebetter.com/love-lasagna-a-caring-community-with-rhiannon-menn-founder-of-lasagna-love/ Tim Yewchucks The Perfect Week Method: https://timyewchuk.com/homeZapier automation tool: https://zapier.com/Lasagna Recipe & KFC Inspired Lasagna Tutorial: https://themediacasters.com/how-to-grow-your-exposure-scale-thrive-with-rhiannon-menn-ceo-and-founder-lasagna-love/ About Rhiannon Menn: Rhiannon Menn is a mama, chef, and adventurer. She loves decaf coffee, traveling, and super fuzzy sweaters - which she unfortunately can no longer wear since she left New England. After the birth of her second child she had an epiphany: when she took good care of herself, she was much better at taking care of those around her. She founded Good to Mama as a way of changing the narrative about what it means to be a mom. In 2020, prompted by the COVID-related struggles of families in her community and her own feeling of helplessness, she founded Lasagna Love. A platform that connects neighbors for home-cooked meal delivery, Lasagna Love has transformed into a national movement of kindness, impacting thousands of volunteers and recipient families each week. Rhiannon is a graduate of Berkshire Community College, Brown University, and MIT Sloan, and is a StartingBloc fellow and Siebel Scholar. She has been featured on the Today Show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, in the Washington Post, and on SouthernLiving.com. She lives in Kihei, HI with her husband, three children, and is relentlessly petitioning for a cat.
