The Kinkley laboratory focuses mainly on unraveling the mechanism of action of the transcription factor PHF13 (PHC Finger Protein 13). PHF13 is a reader of the epigenetic mark H3K4 trimethylation which influences higher chromatin order, transcriptional regulation, and differentiation. Vis-à-vis der mächtigen Anlage am Ende der Südallee hat das Trierer Stadtbad seinen Standort. Und auch das Angebot ist über die Jahrhunderte ähnlich geblieben. Zeitlos wie der Spaß und die Freude am Wasser ist auch die Architektur des Hallenbads aus dem Jahr 1929. Zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts war es durchaus nicht üblich, dass in jeder städtischen Wohnung auch ein eigens Bad vorhanden war. Da eigene Bäder den begüterten Haushalten vorbehalten waren, publizierte die Trierer Presse im Jahr 1927: „Trier hat keine Schwimmhalle. Wo baden denn im Winter die 60.000 Einwohner dieser Stadt? [...] Eine Statistik würde sicherlich für Trier beschämend sein, da festgestellt werden würde, wie wenige Menschen in Trier im Winter baden könnten.“ Just in dieser Zeit verkaufte die Stadt ihr Elektrizitätswerk an das RWE, so dass sich mit dem Erlös die Chance bot, ein eigenes Stadtbad zu errichten. Den ausgeschriebenen Wettbewerb gewann 1929 das Trierer Architekturbüro Brand und Mertes, eröffnet wurde das Stadtbad bereits 1931. An der Ecke zur Gerberstraße sehen wir noch heute ein Bauwerk, welches ganz dem Neuen Bauen des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts verpflichtet ist. Der kubische Baukörper ist mit rot-braunem Klinker verkleidet und hat einen markanten vorgelagerten Uhrturm in der Mitte der Straßenfront zur Südallee. Links von dem Turm schloss sich bis zur großen Erweiterung der Wannenbadflügel an, der vielen Trierern endlich die Möglichkeit zu einer adäquaten Körperhygiene bot. Nach Süden heraus öffneten sich 26 Zellen mit Badewannen zum Außengelände des Stadtbades mit einem Becken und einer großen Spielwiese, wie man auf der perspektivischen Zeichnung von Ferdinand Weeser-Krell aus dem Jahr der Eröffnung, 1931, gut nachvollziehen kann. Das Trierer Stadtbad kommt ohne aufwändigen Schmuck aus und die Klinker sind so vermauert, dass nur der Turm eine plastische Struktur und das Hauptgebäude am oberen Rand ein unaufdringliches Dreieckmuster erhalten. Allein der Haupttrakt rechts vom Eingang sowie der auffällige Turm sind heute noch original, der links liegende Flügel wurde bei einer großen Erweiterung ab 1980 mit dem heute noch bestehenden Neubau ersetzt. Bei diesen Maßnahmen wurde die östliche Wand der Schwimmhalle durchbrochen, so dass der heutige Raumeindruck mit weiteren Becken und Sprungturm ein ganz anderer ist als zur Bauzeit. Das zweigeschossige Hauptgebäude erhebt sich jedoch noch immer über glatten hellen Arkaden aus Muschelkalk, ein Material, das auch in den Umfassungen der Fensterbänder wiederkehrt. Im ersten Stockwerk befanden sich ein großer Gymnastikraum mit schwarzem Flügel sowie ein Aufenthaltsraum mit modernen Stahlrohrmöbeln, der zusätzlich zu den Fenstern von einem Oberlicht erhellt wurde. Von hier aus gelangte man auch auf die sich an die Schwimmhalle anschließende 40 Meter lange östlich liegende Sonnenterrasse, von wo man ebenfalls einen Blick auf das Außengelände hatte. Entlang der Gerberstraße schließt sich neben den niedrigen Bedienstetenwohnungen auch die eigentliche Schwimmhalle mit je elf schmalen hochformatigen Fenstern an den Längsseiten ab. Das Kopfende Richtung Süden wird aus weiteren fünf Fenstern gebildet, so dass der Innenraum mit somit 27 fast raumhohen Fenstern lichtdurchflutet war, wie zeitgenössische Fotos zeigen. Die Fensterfläche betrug insgesamt 216 Quadratmeter, so dass ein weitestgehend transparenter und quasi schattenloser Raum entstand. Den Effekt, nicht in einem Raum, sondern eher im Freien zu schwimmen, wurde durch das 250 Quadratmeter große Oberlicht verstärkt. Die Wände waren aus grüner Terrakotta gestaltet, das Becken mit seegrünen Mosaikplatten ausgelegt und alle Metallteile waren entweder chromgelb lackiert oder blan...

The StoryThe Klinker Brick Old Vine Zinfandel 2016 is sourced from 16 "old vine" vineyards in the Mokelumne delta region of Lodi, California. Klinker Brick is family-owned and they are 5th generation fruit growers and have produced Klinker Brick wines since 2000. You hear about old vines when talking about Zinfandel on a regular basis, but there are no legal standards for what age an old vine vineyard has to be. Klinker Brick Old Vine Zin is taken from vineyards aged from 55 years to 120 years. That seems legit to me.This is Klinker Brick's second line Zinfandel label. They have the Old Ghost Zinfandel which is sourced from a single 90-year-old vineyard and is priced about 3 times higher. Older vineyards naturally have smaller yields than vineyards in their prime years, the smaller the yield the fewer grapes to go around and the higher the price. The way to get all the good qualities the old vine vineyards provide at a lower cost is to use smaller portions of grapes from multiple vineyards. By the way, grapes from the same vineyard as the Old Ghost Zinfandel are also included in this bottling.This Zinfandel is produced the traditional way, oak barrel fermentation, then the grape juice and skins are cold-soaked for 24 hours and then undergo maceration for 7 days. Maceration extracts color, tannins, and aroma from the grapes and allows the structure of the wine to develop and enriches the body of the wine. This Zinfandel is aged for 15 months in American oak barrels and then the various vineyard lots are blended to achieve the final product. The alcohol content is a sturdy 15.4%. The Tasting NotesThe color is a barely see-thru, concentrated black cherry red. The nose is extracted red berries, toasted vanilla, baking spice, chocolate milk, orange zest, raspberry, and pomegranate. This is a Zinfandel with a soft mouthfeel and a mix of rounded and edgy flavors. It starts with rounded black cherry, black pepper, dark chocolate, slightly sharp spice, and plum. The mid-palate adds licorice, cold coffee, and cherry. The tannins are soft and sweet and the acidity allows the flavors to unfold. The finish is large and long.The Summary The Klinker Brick Old Vine Zinfandel 2016 is an excellent, classy Zinfandel. In this price range, there are many "brand" wines, and that isn't a bad thing. The rise of brand wines (meaning the label is part of a large wine conglomerate and not associated with a particular winery) has improved the overall quality of "cheap wine" while keeping prices down. But the Klinker Brick is a genuine Winery offering and typically the 2nd tier wine has many of the characteristics of the top-line wine but at great savings. This is a delicious Zinfandel that was produced with all the production techniques the winemaker deemed necessary, no shortcuts, nothing to speed up the process. Just old-school Lodi Zinfandel.

This argumentative paper discusses the use of sport based recreation as a tool to address social inequity. The paper blends a lot of what we discuss in HPE and crosses over to public health and beyond. A great look outside of our field to see what scholars are doing in Europe outside of the HPE setting.
