Access Valora here and get personalised actions for growth > ‍ The Secrets of Being a Bookable Speaker So many entrepreneurs wonder why some speakers are in constant demand while others struggle to get booked. In this episode of The Brilliant Business Book Festival, Maria Franzoni,  former bureau insider and author of The Bookability Formula reveals the formula that makes speakers irresistible to event organizers. Drawing on decades of experience, Maria shows why being “bookable” has less to do with celebrity status and more to do with relevance, clarity, memorability, and ease. She also explains how entrepreneurs can use speaking not just for visibility, but as a powerful driver of business growth and influence. If you've ever wanted to know what makes organizers say yes and how to become the go-to choice in your field, this conversation will open your eyes. ‍ ‍ Prefer to WATCH? https://www.youtube.com/@melittacampbell‍‍ ‍ ‍ “Bookable speakers aren't always the most famous — they're the ones who are relevant, memorable, and easy to work with.” – Maria Franzoni ‍ Beyond Star Power: What Really Gets You Booked Many assume that only celebrities or big-name experts get chosen for paid speaking gigs. Maria shows why that's a myth. The most booked speakers aren't always the most famous — they're the ones who are relevant, memorable, and easy to work with. ‍ She explains why clarity of message and consistency often matter more than a massive following, and how anyone can raise their profile by positioning themselves strategically. ‍ ‍ The Six Elements of Bookability Maria breaks down her framework into four foundations, a multiplier, and a divider: ‍ Relevance to a paying audience Known for one clear thing Memorable for both audiences and bookers Easy to find and work with Value as the multiplier (delivering clear ROI) Ego as the divider (too much can ruin everything) This combination reveals why some speakers build thriving businesses while others plateau. ‍ ‍ “Being known for one clear thing doesn't limit you — it's the key that opens the right doors.” – Maria Franzoni  ‍ ‍ Niching Down to Open Doors One of the most counterintuitive insights Maria shares is that being known for one thing actually expands your opportunities. Just like Amazon started with books before becoming known for convenience, speakers who focus on one clear theme open the door to broader opportunities later. ‍ ‍ Value Beyond the Stage The most successful speakers don't just show up, deliver a talk, and leave. They think in terms of long-term value — creating ways for organizers and audiences to keep learning and benefiting from their expertise long after the speech is over. From books to recordings to tailored follow-up resources, Maria highlights creative ways speakers can multiply their impact (and income). ‍ ‍ The Power of Consistency Perhaps Maria's most practical reminder is that consistency builds visibility. If you're not regularly showing up where your audience is, you'll fall off their radar — no matter how good you are on stage. ‍ ‍ A Final Thought to Reflect On Becoming a bookable speaker isn't about chasing fame or filling your calendar with endless hustle. It's about clarity, relevance, and the consistent delivery of value. When you make it easy for others to work with you, when you show up consistently, and when you focus on solving the problems of a paying audience, opportunities begin to find you. ‍ So instead of asking, “How do I get on more stages?” try asking, “How can I make myself the obvious choice for the right stages?” ‍ That small shift in perspective can transform speaking from a side activity into a real engine for business growth. ‍ ‍ About Maria Maria Franzoni is the author of The Bookability Formula, a recognised expert in the speaking industry, with experience as an agent, international speaker bureau owner, and mentor since 1998. She has worked with some of the world's most celebrated speakers and shaped the careers of many others. Maria teaches speakers how to become more relevant, known, and bookable by sharing the strategies used by the top 1%. Today I'm giving you specific content swaps that will take your posts from basic to scroll-stopping, because here's the truth: you can't just repurpose content across platforms and expect it to work. Every platform has a different purpose and people go there expecting different things. When you try to make your Instagram posts do the job of your emails or podcast episodes, everything suffers. I'm breaking down the exact swaps I use with my media mapping framework to transform generic topics into platform-native content that actually converts. The reality is that many of you think you're bad at content creation, but you're actually just being lazy with your content strategy. You're stuck in a repurposing cycle that's making you work harder, not smarter, because content that doesn't perform means you have to create two to three times more of it to get the same results. As CEOs and entrepreneurs we're masters at helping others clarify their vision, set goals, and stay accountable. But when it comes to our own businesses? Too often, we fall into the trap of neglecting our brand, our strategy, and our growth. This podcast is your reminder—and your roadmap—to start practicing what you preach. This episode dives into the common blind spots coaches face, why we put clients first at our own expense, and practical ways to finally follow our own advice. If you're ready to model the work you ask of others, this is the podcast for you. Guess who I wrote this podcast for? ME! I was listening to a marketing podcast on my morning walk where they were talking about having five pillars in their social media content posting. I was nodding my head because I coach on this all of the time. I draw out the five pillars for my clients on my whiteboard to make sure they implement it. Suddenly, it hit me! I WAS NOT FOLLOWING MY OWN ADVICE! I looked about our social media for the DO IT MY WAY brand and realized we were only hitting ONE of the pillars really well!  We are so busy working on our client's brands that we often neglect our own. It is so important to take time out every week to work as a CEO on your business instead of being in the day to day! Check out these three powerful shifts that I am implementing immediately in our business on the latest episode of the DO IT MY WAY Podcast!

If you're spending hours creating beautiful content that gets crickets for engagement, the problem isn't your design skills or your expertise. It's probably your content topics! This episode will show you exactly how to fix it. Today I'm breaking down the framework I use to evaluate every single content topic before it goes live. Here's the truth: a great content topic can make mediocre design and copy perform well, but even the most beautiful, expertly crafted content will flop if the topic doesn't land. I spend more time ideating content topics than I do on creative, editing, or scripting, because when you nail the topic, everything else becomes easier. I'm sharing the exact 5 filter system I use to test whether a content topic will actually stop the scroll and convert, or if it's destined to get lost in the noise. From understanding the difference between "specific" and "niche" (they're not the same thing) to making sure your topics showcase your unique expertise without being too broad, this framework will transform how you approach content creation. I'm giving you real examples from my own content, including posts that could have performed better and exactly how I would fix them using this system. Plus, I'm sharing how this process saves me time on caption writing because when your content topic is strong enough, you don't need to rely on heavy captions to carry the message. In today's episode, we're talking about: Why content topics matter more than design or copy  The difference between "specific" and "niche"  How to make content personal to your expertise without making it hyper niche The attention-grabbing formula that gets people to stop scrolling  Why trying to teach a "whole textbook" in one post is killing your engagement Connect with me:  Website Join our email list! We're both seeing the same shift: the passive content strategies that worked a year ago simply aren't cutting it anymore, and the creators who are thriving are the ones treating content creation like the full-time job it actually is. Dielle shares her journey from being able to coast on repurposed content to having to completely revamp her approach, including her storytelling framework where you spend 50% of your content just painting the problem before sharing any solution. We're also diving into why studying content creators (not just business coaches) has been game-changing for understanding how people actually consume content on these platforms. From our content creation routines to what's working (and what's definitely not working) in 2025, this conversation covers the mindset shifts, practical strategies, and honest truths about what it takes to create content that actually converts. One Secret to Getting More Downloads of Your PodcastIn this episode, we reveal one powerful secret to increasing your podcast downloads: writing better episode titles. Many podcasters struggle with discoverability—not because of their content quality, but because their titles don't invite clicks. Titles act as your show's headline, just like YouTube creators rely on titles and thumbnails. By making your episode titles keyword-rich, using long-tail search terms, and front-loading the value in the first few words, you can dramatically boost your visibility and attract new listeners. We also cover why vague titles like “Episode 14 with John” don't work unless your guest is a household name, and how rephrasing them into specific, curiosity-driven promises can transform your results. Consistency builds trust, and trust builds downloads.Previous EpisodeShari Gives Her Opinion on AI In Podcasting | S4 E13More Episodes From Become A Successful PodcasterThe RIGHT Social Network For Your Podcast | S3 E17Does your podcast have TOO Many Guests With Shari Post? | S3 E16How Podcasters Can Succeed By Following Hulu's Strategy | S3 E15Fortune Cookie Readings for the 20 Most Active Podcasts | S3 E18Guest Jodi Krangle of the Audio Branding Podcast and Voice Actor | S3 E14Sample TranscriptWelcome to this episode, where I'm going to share one secret to getting more downloads of your podcast. A lot of podcasters struggle with discoverability. You can have the best content in the world, but if people don't click on your episode in the first place, they'll never know how good it is.The secret is in your episode titles. Think about YouTube — creators there obsess over titles and thumbnails because they know that's what drives the click. Your podcast episode title plays the exact same role. If your titles are vague, like “Episode 14 with John,” nobody's going to be interested unless John is famous. But if you rewrite that same episode as “How to Land Your First Freelance Client in 30 Days,” suddenly it speaks to the listener's need and curiosity.Make your titles keyword-rich, like blog posts. Use long-tail keywords that people actually search for. Instead of “Marketing Tips,” write “5 Proven Marketing Tips to Double Your Email Subscribers in 2025.” That makes your episode show up in search results on podcast apps, Google, and even social media shares.Another trick is to front-load the value in the first few words. Listeners often scan quickly — if the first three words don't grab them, they scroll past. Numbers, strong verbs, and promises of transformation usually work best. And here's the last piece: consistency. If every title clearly tells the listener what they'll learn or what problem will be solved, you train your audience to trust that clicking on your episodes is worth it. That trust compounds into more downloads over time.So the secret is simple: write better titles. Treat them as headlines, not afterthoughts, and your downloads will grow.

Click here now to access the tool > ‍ How to Use Storytelling to Build Trust and Connect with Your Dream Clients Have you ever wanted to use more storytelling in your business and marketing, but weren't sure where to start.  ‍ Or perhaps you struggled to strike the right balance between compelling stories and oversharing? ‍ For many business owners, storytelling feels like a mystery. You know it can help you connect more deeply with your audience, but how do you do it well? And how do you find the right stories? ‍ The truth is, stories don't just explain what you do. They show people why you do it — and that's what builds trust, relatability, and resonance. ‍ So this week in The Brilliant Business Book Festival, I was delighted to speak with Susan Payton, author of The Business of Stories. ‍ Her approach is refreshingly simple: storytelling doesn't mean baring your soul or making yourself the hero. It means finding the gift in your experiences and sharing it in a way that helps others. ‍ Susan shows us that stories aren't about performance. They're about connection — letting your audience see your motivation, your values, and the heart behind your work. And she shared exactly how to get started. ‍ ‍ Prefer to WATCH instead of read? https://www.youtube.com/@melittacampbell ‍ ‍ ‍ “One story, one message, one call to action — that's what people connect with.” – Susan Payton, The Business of Stories ‍ Why Stories Build Trust When you share a story, people don't just learn what you do, they understand why you do it. That sense of motivation builds trust in a way that polished marketing copy never can. Susan has seen this first-hand: when she shared her story with a group of 1,500 women, she gained more paying clients in six weeks than in the entire year before. The difference? She let people see the passion behind her work. ‍ ‍ Keeping Stories Simple and Relatable Susan warns that many people try to tell too much at once. The secret is to keep it simple: one story, one message, one call to action. ‍ Relatability doesn't come from endless details. It comes from clarity around how you were thinking and feeling in the moment. That's what your audience connects with, as they can relate that to their own experiences.  ‍ ‍ “Stories don't need to be dramatic to make an impact. Instead of asking: ‘Do I have a story?', the better question is: ‘Which story will serve my audience today?'” – Susan Payton, The Business of Stories ‍ ‍ ‍ Finding Stories Everywhere One of Susan's favourite reminders is that stories are all around us. And they don't need to be dramatic to make an impact. In fact, often it's the simple tales of our everyday life that are the most relatable. ‍ You could share a story that relates to: A moment from your childhood A client's journey Something you saw on TV Or even a lesson from everyday family life The question is not “do I have a story?” but “which story will serve my audience today?” ‍ A Favourite Story: The Gift Box Stall Susan shared the story of a small craft stall she came across in Salisbury. Their sign read: “It only takes a moment to create a moment.” ‍ The couple explained how small acts of kindness: cups of tea, hugs and kind words, had carried them through tough times. And how that prompted them to create their gift box business, making it easy for more people to share a moment of kindness.  ‍ Their story touched Susan, and she still remembers it - and shares it with others - to this day. Her example highlights how we don't remember polished pitches. We remember stories that move us and we pass them on for years. ‍ ‍ Rewriting the Stories in Your Head The biggest barrier to storytelling often isn't finding stories or deciding which ones to share and when. It's the unhelpful stories we tell ourselves: “What if people judge me?” “What if they think I'm attention-seeking?” “What if I say the wrong thing?” Susan shared how she overcame a crippling fear of public speaking by reframing it: it wasn't about her. It was about the people who might need her message. ‍ Tweet: “Your story isn't about you. It's for the people you're here to help.” – Susan Payton, The Business of Stories Making Your Story Work for Your Audience Susan also reminds us that stories have to be purposeful. Whether you're writing an “About Me” page, crafting a keynote talk or simply posting on LinkedIn, your story needs to point back to the audience. ‍ It's not about being the hero. It's about positioning yourself as the guide, the right person to help your dream client take the next step. ‍ Final Thought to Reflect On You don't need a dramatic backstory to make an impact. Often, it's the everyday stories — the small lessons, the simple shifts — that resonate the most. ‍ So, what ordinary story could you share today that might spark connection, trust or action in your audience? ‍ Want to explore what this could look like for you? ‍Learn more about the ways you can work with Melitta Campbell to uncover your Value Sweet Spot to market, sell and grow your business confidently, and always on your terms. Working with Melitta >  ‍ ‍ About Susan When Susan told her ‘ordinary' story to 1,500 business owners, back in 2015, the response ‍ from people who resonated with it and felt connected to her as a result of hearing it, blew her away! ‍ In fact, that moment completely changed her business - and her life. ‍ Susan has since worked with entrepreneurs all over the world, written the international bestselling book, The Business of Stories, hosts the podcast of the same name, and become a leading authority on how to use storytelling to stand out in your industry. ‍ Thousands have used her simple framework to share their message with impact, attract ideal clients and grow their business. ‍ Susan has also spoken on stages from Brighton to Barcelona, guested on panels and podcasts and run numerous masterclasses, guest expert sessions and workshops, both online and in person. ‍ In a world where it's getting harder and harder to be heard above the noise, Susan is passionate about showing business owners how to clearly articulate their value and speak to the right people, at the right time, with a simple message and a great story. ‍ Read Susan's Book: The Business of Stories ‍ Connect with Susan Website    LinkedIn ‍ About Your Host, Melitta Campbell Melitta Campbell is an award-winning business coach, TEDx speaker, author of A Shy Girl's Guide to Networking and founder of the Dream Clients Club. ‍ Through her Value WhisperingTM Blueprint, she helps introverted female entrepreneurs build quietly impactful businesses that grow through clarity, trust, and alignment. ‍ Learn more about working with Melitta here ‍ ‍ Loved this episode?
