Honda joins Adrian Newey in voicing their struggles with the new F1 rules coming in 2026Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsAston Martin's 2026 project faces serious uncertainty, with Honda's CEO Koji Watanabe warning of difficulties in meeting the upcoming regulations. The team's reliance on a perfectly balanced power unit has been called into question, especially as Adrian Newey cautions that engine performance will matter more than aerodynamics under the new rules. On top of that, rumors suggest Newey might clash with Lawrence Stroll over the future of Lance Stroll, amplifying concerns about whether Aston Martin can fulfill its lofty championship ambitions. With Fernando Alonso eyeing 2026 as a potential final shot at glory, the pressure is on to avoid a repeat of the McLaren-Honda era missteps and prove that the new facilities and massive investments won't go to waste.Stay tuned for the full breakdown, including insight into why Red Bull's move away from Honda could be a lucky escape and how teams like Audi might outpace Aston Martin right from the start. Join the conversation below—share your predictions, discuss Alonso's timeline, and let us know if you think Aston Martin can overcome these challenges or if the team is heading for a high-stakes gamble with no guarantee of success.

The 1989 Portuguese Grand Prix will forever be remembered for Nigel Mansell getting black flagged, having a collision with Ayrton Senna, then being banned for the following race. Sam Smith and Andrew van de Burgt join Glenn Freeman to discuss that huge controversy in great detail, as well as everything else that was going on in F1 around that time, including tension between Alain Prost and McLaren-Honda, Williams bringing a new car out so late in the season, Onyx firing one of its drivers and getting a memorable underdog podium, plus the only lap in F1 that was ever led by a Minardi.ASK US ANYTHING: Get your questions in for our series finale using #BringBackV10s on Twitter or email bringbackv10s@the-race.com
There is a conception widely believed outside Japan that Japan is the worst place for foreigners to work because of lack of diversity. There is a company in Iruma City, Saitama that has hired 10% of employees who are foreigners in the last 15 years. Kamoshita Yusuke, a president of Koganei Seiki Seisakusho, says that the company just hires people they think are excellent, and as a result, they have the system they have now. Show #671 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Sunday 19th January 2020. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. New review from Mark in Vancouver: On my way to work I get my daily fix of EV news. Mostly cars, but I enjoy the few energy solar stories too as I have a 31 panel system. I have a Tesla Model 3, but what I like about this podcast is that he covers all EVs. I also have a gas honda accord (yuk) and will be getting a second EV in the next 3 years. Show is dynamic. I’ve listened since about 8 months ago, but recently went back and listed to the first 40 episodes. It is an EV time machine! Thanks Martin, so good. And remember, there is no such thing as a self-charging hybrid. Mark from Vancouver, Canada” BMW I8 PRODUCTION TO END IN APRIL "It was September last year when BMW released the Ultimate Sophisto limited edition models based on the i8 and i8 Roadster, effectively signaling the assembling of the hybrid sports car will come to an end very soon. We may now know when the 2+2 coupe will go out of production." says InsideEVs: "According to Autocar, BMW will kill the i8 in April this year nearly six years after it was launched. No exact date is confirmed at this point but a UK spokesman for the company told the publication that “UK customers interested in a built-to-order car will need to have placed their order with their local retailer by the end of February.” BMW’s director of development Klaus Frölich confirmed the Vision M Next Concept isn't going to be the successor of the i8. Back in July last year, he told Australian media that "there is no direct successor for the i3 and no direct successor for the i8." https://www.motor1.com/news/393129/bmw-i8-production-end-april/ SONO MOTORS HITS €50M-TARGET THROUGH CROWDFUNDING "Sono Motors has exceeded its crowdfunding target of 50 million euros and has extended the campaign until 20 January. The Munich-based company announced this on Saturday evening on Twitter – two days before the deadline." acccording to electrive today: "A key factor in the campaign’s success was the participation of existing investors, who gave Sono Motors a financing commitment of a further 10 million euros earlier this month. In the initial crowd-funding round, which was scheduled to run until 30 December 2019, Sono Motors had failed to meet the target of 50 million euros it had set itself. In the period since the beginning of December, however, just over 32.5 million euros had been raised – partly through new reservations including down payments, and partly by increasing existing down payments, donations or loans. Sono Motors has thus generated the difference to the 50-million-euro target within three weeks by extending the campaign. The proceeds will be used to finance tooling and further series prototypes of the Sion, the company’s debut solar electric car." https://www.electrive.com/2020/01/19/sono-motors-hits-e50m-target-through-crowdfunding/ RENAULT ZOE & TESLA MODEL 3 PULL FRANCE TO RECORD HEIGHTS A triple set of sales stories from Clean Technica, first up France: "The French plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) market registered a record 7,250 units in December, +28% year over year (YoY), a new all time record. That was thanks to leader Renault Zoe (2,097 units, a new year best), which seems to be past the worse of the production ramp up, and the Tesla Model 3, which moved 1,250 units, its best result ever in France. " https://cleantechnica.com/2020/01/17/renault-zoe-tesla-model-3-pull-france-to-record-heights-2019-ev-sales-report/ FOSSIL VEHICLE SALES IN GLOBAL FREEFALL "The world’s fossil fuel vehicle sales have continued to freefall in 2019, dropping by around 4.35 million, or some 4.7%, compared to 2018, accelerating a now inexorable trend. Global electric vehicle sales meanwhile have continued to rise, with 2019 EV market share reaching 4.7% in China and 3.8% in Europe. (Note that “electric vehicles” in this report concerns both fully electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.)" https://cleantechnica.com/2020/01/18/fossil-vehicle-sales-in-global-freefall-down-4-7-in-2019-electric-vehicle-sales-continue-to-grow/ TESLA MODEL 3 = 7TH BEST SELLING CAR IN USA* "The Tesla Model 3 ended up being the 7th best selling car in the United States in the 4th quarter of 2019 and the 9th best selling car across the whole year*. (Note that the numbers and rankings in this article are only for cars, not SUVs or light-duty trucks.) The Model 3 was actually the #1 best selling car in the country in December, based on our estimates as well as official figures from automakers, but Tesla has an unbalanced delivery process in which the bulk of US deliveries are made at the end of the quarter, so I don’t think it’s appropriate to compare or highlight December sales." Camry, Corolla, Civic, Accord, Elantra, Altima and Model 3 https://cleantechnica.com/2020/01/19/tesla-model-3-7th-best-selling-car-in-usa/ NEW JERSEY PASSES LANDMARK EV LEGISLATION INCLUDING $5,000 REBATE "On January 17, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed into law sweeping legislation that has the potential to dramatically accelerate the sale of electric vehicles within the state. New Jersey residents will now get up to $5,000 off the purchase of an electric vehicle, the most aggressive state EV incentive in the nation. New Jersey currently has a sales-tax exemption for BEVs, and that policy will remain. " says InsideEVs: "he amount of rebate is based on the electric range of the vehicle, with a $25.00 credit given for every mile of electric range the car is rated at. Plug-in hybrids are eligible for the same rebate, however only for the next 3 three years." https://insideevs.com/news/393646/new-jersey-passes-landmark-ev-legislation/ QUESTION OF THE WEEK From E: The traditional OEM that I am most concerned about is Honda. Reason is because I work at Honda and our President Mr. Hachigo keeps talking about how there is no demand for EVs and how Honda is sticking to Hybrids. I don't just work at Honda. I grew up a fan of Honda. My favorite F1 driver was Aerton Senna and he drove for McLaren Honda, so I was actually a fan growing up. I always admired Mr. Honda's principles such as "Blue Skies for Our Children", "Be a company that society wants to exist", and I believe that Mr. Honda would have been very disappointed that his company is not the one leading the charge towards Carbon Free Society. I personally feel that we could be one of the Nokias of the automotive world and that we have to realize that speed is absolutely critical in order to stay relevant going forward. Josh and Brenna, Space Coast EV Drivers After renting a Subaru Outback on a vacation my wife and I agreed it would make a perfect EV. We think Subaru should be making an EV version of every car they make. Dan Herscher I would like to see Subaru doing more. They've crafted an image of being for outdoorsy people. You know the kind who care about clean air, water, and climate. They've even made a big deal about some zero waste factories. So a clean, green, EV seems to fit into their desired public perception. If Love truly made a Subaru a Subaru I wish they'd show a bit more love for the planet by ditching the fossils. Sadly I've seen very little from them to date. Stephen Murdoch I want to see (or demand if I could) General Motors make more BEV's as GMHolden is an iconic part of Australian motoring. Or even releasing the Chevy Bolt down under would be a step in the right direction. Steve James I would like to see Dacia hit the EV market because they would obviously make a cheap EV which would mean it would make the other car companies look at there pricing structures. SuperFrikky Car maker to make greater EV strides....Ford. EV Fiesta can't be far away surely NEW QUESTION OF THE WEEK The MYEV.com Question Of The Week… With increasing attacks on EVs and vandalism caught on camera, why do some people have a problem with EVs? Is Formula 1 going too artificial by thinking of introducing ceramic microphones to enhance the sounds of the F1 engines? Or is it an acceptable solution from a sports broadcast point of view? Unlike the DRS, this is one solution that we don't mind supporting the sport for. In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we wonder if the race organisers of the Malaysian Grand Prix blurted out the absolute truth about the sport, while also claiming that they wouldn't play host to Formula 1 even if it was offered for free! Ouch! We discuss Paul Hembrey's idea of introducing 'mini cups' along side the World Championship to make the longer seasons more interesting and Graham Keilloh's novel idea of crowning the driver with the maximum race laps led as that season's Drivers' Champion. And then of course, we have our usual Mclaren-Honda section, along with a much-needed one for Daniel Ricciardo. As we look forward to Suzuka, let's hope Ferrari's engines don't hit Honda mode yet again.
This week we get some time with top UK lawyer Peter Wright to discuss what is going on with the McLaren Honda relationship that now looks all but broken. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

On this episode of the Autoweek Podcast, host Rory Carroll is joined by Jake Lingeman, Wesley Wren, Mike Pryson and Jimmy Pelizzari to talk about the latest McLaren-Honda news, the fate of the WEC and other racing news from around the world. Later in the episode, the group talks about the changes to the print version of Autoweek, how Autoweek owned a Shelby GT350 and compare the Volkswagen Golf R, Subaru WRX STI and the Ford Focus RS. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
This has been a difficult weekend for us, but this show is how we're trying to get things back in place. Because we didn't get to really talk about Spa last week - that's where we focused... Actually we focused on the McLaren-Honda circus, because that's where the activity really is. We still don't know if we're looking at a McLaren-Renault, Toro Rosso - Honda pairing for 2018 or if something else is going to happen. It doesn't appear that Honda will be out completely, but beyond that, who knows....
After a much needed summer break the bad boys of podcasting return to the airwaves to recap the Belgian, or is it Belgium, Grand Prix. Staff member Rob is MIA but Andrew, John and Charlie hold down the fort. We discuss the ongoing drama between McLaren-Honda and Fernando Alonso, what to do about the Force India boys and how we would all replace Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari. John and Andrew also play a mean trick on Charlie which has him questioning everything he has ever done. Bon appetit.
See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Feat Dieter Rencken. Peter gets excited about schnitzels, Rob eschews the radio microphone for your common or garden-variety mobile telephone, Michael is still in Europe — but he's not in Mykonos — and Dieter renckens McLaren-Honda might not be over yet.
In perhaps our least relevant episode of the year Peter is obliged to respond to a barrage of your #AskMcGinley questions. Michael and Rob, who did actually watch the race, ask whether McLaren-Honda is cooked, and we don’t talk about Jacques Villeneuve.
Max Verstappen is 'fed up'! But he's had such a start to the 2017 Formula 1 Season - 3 DNFs out of 7 races, so we don't blame him. If he's 'fed up' in just 7 races, we wonder what state would poor Fernando Alonso be in after nearly 50 such races with Mclaren-Honda. Alonso to Williams in 2018? Or will it be the Indy Car series? If only the Mclaren win in the 'F1 Raft Race' influenced his decision. But very coyly, Mclaren seem to be distancing themselves from Honda's recurring and seemingly unsolvable woes. What're their plans for 2018? Renault? In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Mithila and Kunal express disappointment with Daniel Ricciardo, debate Force India's no-use of team orders, and wonder if Toto Wolff has a veiled message for Nico Rosberg - should he decide to make a comeback. You never know which Monte Carlo will turn up beforehand - but this one was the dull version. Thank you Mclaren for vetoing a Red Bull Racing - Honda partnership a few seasons ago. IF not, we'd have had 6 GP2 cars (or worse!) racing in Formula 1. By the way, there's talk of Mercedes helping Honda with their power-unit. This is after Bernie Ecclestone suggested that Mercedes helped Ferrari. If that's the case, why not help Renault too? Or better, let's just give everyone Mercedes engines. In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Mithila and Kunal discuss Fernando Alonso's Indy 500 preparations, Ecclestone-Vettel's friendship, Lauda's support of every Hamilton challenger, Renault's 2030 F1 concept and IF Fernando Alonso will retire his Mclaren-Honda in the upcoming Russian Grand Prix too. This week we hear a little from the guy that Fernando Alonso will be replacing on the grid for the Indianapolis 500. Bernie Ecclestone tries to remind us that he's still relevant to F1 - while at the same time complaining about how he's not being treated like he's not still relevant to F1. VJ Mallya's been arrested, and then was released. We know why Valteri Bottas' performance in Bahrain was so disappointing, and Lewis takes the blame for his penalty. Pascal Wherlin is feeling better than he thought he would - oh and he wants to go back to the Race of Champions. Lance Stroll still hasn't finished a race - but it's not his fault. We're having flashbacks to 2015 with McLaren-Honda, especially after this week's test. Changes are coming to Montreal's Circuit Giles Villeneuve, and Renault has created their vision for the future of F1.
Lewis Hamilton has used 'driving slow' as a tactic in the past. Yes, it was at the 2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where he won the race, but lost the Drivers' Championship to Nico Rosberg. However, at the epic 2017 Bahrain Grand Prix, Hamilton was penalised for driving slow ahead of Daniel Ricciardo. The karma of the Motorsport world coming to bite Hamilton back? Mercedes were outclassed by Ferrari in every department, tyre strategy being the most evident one. In fact, Mercedes had lost out to Red Bull Racing too. The reigning World Champion need to sharpen themselves to fight external competition after years of intra-team battles. As for Ferrari, someone needs to remind them that they've a second car too! After the first three races, it is appearing that positions 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 10th are already blocked for a few drivers. This means there's fewer positions to fight for in the top 10. But for Mclaren-Honda, after being bored of DNFs, they decided to lodge a DNS! Finally, we welcome Turkey and their Turn 8 back to Formula 1, let's hope they get onto the calendar soon enough. We would also like to welcome back Jenson Button for his one-off appearance for Mclaren at the 2017 Monaco Grand Prix. He's either bold or dumb to race in Monaco without any testing whatsoever. And of course, our best wishes and prayers to Billy Monger and his family. Tune in! Ruina.
Before we look back at last week's race, we participated in a different sort of race this weekend at the Great Lakes Science Center. By adopting the F1 strategy of find the limits of the rules and push right up to the edge we designed a "car" that raced to a commanding victory. Did this year's Australian Grand Prix feel short to you? Well it was the shortest Australian Grand Prix ever. Fernando Alonso thinks this year's McLaren Honda is the slowest car on the grid - but at least Honda can upgrade the engine - something that Sauber can't look forward to with their late model Ferrari. This is the same Sauber that thinks that it's realistic for them to score points, and apparently the same Sauber that has been talking to Honda about an engine supply. Red Bull isn't expecting a significant engine upgrade until Montreal. Did Mercedes loose Australian Grand Prix or did Ferrari win it - what do you think? Lewis Hamilton doesn't need a physical trainer, and Lance Stroll thinks that we're all just jealous of him...

Peter McGinley is tickled pink by the upcoming Australian Grand Prix and Andre Rieu but not by McLaren-Honda's performance or the ABC's pronunciation of his name. We also talk about acid reflux and the South Pacific nation of Tokelau.
As we near the start of the 2017 Formula 1 Season, Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull Racing are busy trading the 'favourites' tag with each other. In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Mithila and Kunal tell you that despite their lack of pace and reliability, Mclaren-Honda are definitely the fan favourite for 2017. The million dollar questions staring at Formula 1 right now are: Will Mercedes unleash more pace? Will Mclaren-Honda be able to go the full race distance? Also, does Daniel Ricciardo have a new party trick for 2017? Because we know that Max Verstappen does. Liberty Media have re-branded GP2 to F2, but with F3 already there, what will they brand GP3 to? And we were most glad when they admitted that traditional races in Europe are key to Formula 1's future. The new owners of the sport seem to be making the right noises (again). Is this why Bernie Ecclestone chose to not stay on? Tune in! We consider just how cooked the McLaren-Honda project is, the ABC flirts with the idea of replacing Peter McGinley with CGI, and Dieter Rencken tells us what he Renckened about the F1 offseason.
Box of Neutrals returns for 2017 with a slightly new cast in vaguely different outfits, but what hasn’t changed is McLaren-Honda, Felipe Massa, or Peter McGinley's love of the letter 'K'.
The 't-wing' has been the talk of the paddock and the pre-season test in Barcelona. While most teams have one, Mercedes have gone and got themselves two! Will the t-wing be outlawed, like the t-bone? And then what about the shark-fin cover which seems more like an ugly whiteboard this season? The 2017 cars look sexy, no doubt, but get rid of these aero add-ons, please? In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Mithila and Kunal refrain from cracking too many Mclaren-Honda jokes and then settle for a self-imposed of at least a joke each. If Lewis Hamilton says that overtaking might be difficult in these new cars, there's a serious cause of worry, especially because there's only one Max 'Overtake' Verstappen on the grid. They also discuss the trigger for Williams-JCB partnership, Liberty Media's liberty to Formula 1 teams for generating social media content, Fernando Alonso's Red Bull Racing inspired helmet design and how RAI won Hamilton's helmet design competition. We LOVE it when Formula 1 teams add humour to the sport, of course. This time, we loved Mclaren's prank on the Day of the Innocent Saints. They've gone from being the joke of the paddock to cracking jokes. Well, we call that progress - something that Mclaren-Honda haven't experienced since a few seasons. IF you were the power that controlled Formula 1, what would be your ONE resolution for the sport? In this week's episode, Mithila and Kunal share theirs and they found it difficult to limit themselves to just one, but they did. With the Sauber-Wehrlein rumours, Felipe Massa's workout pictures and Bottas' reported visit to Mercedes factory, we wonder if Mercedes need to make an official announcement at all. Anyway, if we were Sauber, we would ask for Mercedes engines over a Mercedes junior driver. Tune in to know why! Lastly, there's talk about Formula 1 cars racing at 450kmph and Ferrari's exploring of a new livery and new engine technology. All in all, let's hope for a happy new season as we also wish all our listeners a Happy New Year! Oh and before we forget, former MotoGP World Champion said the smartest thing about Formula 1 and MotoGP. Can someone make him the CEO of Formula 1 already? Tune in! Is the United States Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton's new home race? Going purely by his Instagram feed, we'd like to believe so. How many of Hamilton's reported girlfriends would cheer him in the Paddock? Would 'Joey' be visiting too? If so, they should broadcast a live car-to-television radio chat between Joey and Hamilton. We actually try simulate what this conversation could be like. In the 'Race to the White House', who would Hamilton vote for - Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton? Also, would Bernie Ecclestone's pal, Donald Trump, attend the United States Grand Prix in Austin? Formula 1 is a perfect sport for Trump to invest in and we tell you why. All-in-all, we hope that being in the United States of America does motivate Hamilton to race as Hamilton - he's been Rosberg-like in the last few races. Nico Rosberg's best psychological attack on Hamilton would be to invite Nicole Sherzinger to the US GP. It would also be yet another battle that Rosberg would win off-track - since beating Hamilton on-track seems unlikely this season. But Hamilton has always beaten Rosberg in the USA and Rosberg has never won here, will his 'fear of missing out' propel Rosberg to win his 8th first-ever win of the season? Surprisingly, Hamilton copied everything but Rosberg's clutch settings in Suzuka! Let's hope that Hamilton skipped the Pirelli test due to a sore foot and not a sore thumb - after all, that's what people obsessed with social media suffer from! Moving on from Hamilton, Nico Hulkenberg's move to Renault would mean that he would at least go the Fernando Alonso and not the Adrian Sutil way. Good choice, Nico! If Valtteri Bottas partners Hulkenberg at Renault, should Williams request Felipe Massa to stay back for yet another season? Renault said that they would need five years to be World Champion. Given Renault's commitment phobia to Formula 1, will they be around for that long? It is interesting how Sebastian Vettel and Nico Hulkenberg have cited Michael Schumacher as an inspiration in their career moves. Should Jenson Button seek some inspiration too? Finally, we tell you why Ron Dennis' 5 on 10 rating is terrible for Mclaren-Honda and how Mark Webber's retirement automatically increases his chances of being subject to Daniel Ricciardo's famous shoey! Seeing how Ricciardo's 'shoe' has suddenly become so popular, will Red Bull Racing hike their sponsorship rates for 'official shoe supplier'? Tune in!

The 2016 Austrian Grand Prix was the best advertisement for Formula 1 – wheel to wheel action, tyre strategy and a fair share of controversy! Are Mercedes trying to protect Nico Rosberg by blaming the issue on brake-by-wire? As far as we know, brake-by-wire does not affect the steering wheel! And why were Mercedes hell-bent on making Hamilton lose by strategy or slower pitstops? Every time the pressure piles on, Rosberg eventually succumbs. Definitely not the mental make-up of a champion – does Rosberg deserve to be World Champion? While Mercedes contemplates team orders, we tell you why it’s a terrible idea. If Mercedes were to be inspired by Red Bull Racing, they would have demoted Rosberg to Manor and promoted Pascal Wehrlein in his place - a gift for his resilient P10 too! Pirelli gifted Sebastian Vettel a tyre blowout for his birthday. Sure he would have been happier blowing out candles instead. Kimi Raikkonen had some unexpected champagne, funny that he’s having his second wedding before his second world championship. Max Verstappen continues to be everyone’s favourite (ours too!) sweeping away the Driver of the Day awards. Jenson Button's P6 would've seemed like victory to Mclaren-Honda. The Japanese manufacturer is considering investing in a Formula E program. Is this to hide from their Formula 1 miseries? We tell you more. Back-to-back races means that the British Grand Prix is coming up this weekend! Is anyone willing to bet against Lewis Hamilton at his home race? We aren’t – Hammer Time awaits, we say! Our prediction? Since Formula 1 loves revenge, Nico Rosberg will be booed on the podium – if he makes it there, that is. Tune in! If he has any hopes of winning his third championship on the trot, the real Lewis Hamilton needs to stand up – show us the quick racer he is, minus the distractions (music, movies and Penelope Cruz). Meanwhile Niki Lauda was spotted sharing ice cream with Nico Rosberg, where was Lewis in all of this? Maybe they made Lewis wait in the car! Hamilton is smartly planning his retirement with Mercedes – he will be building supercars and doing demos, basically becoming the next David Coulthard? With autonomous cars likely to be the biggest threat to Formula 1, guess all drivers need retirement plans (not just Fernando Alonso!). Apart from hanging out with Lauda, Rosberg has been doing various other things we thought are Hamilton’s specialty. This includes hanging out at exotic destinations (Ibiza), posing with private jets for no apparent reason, fanboy moments with Hollywood stars and pissing off Formula 1’s sponsors. Hopefully, the next Lewis-inspired move he pulls off is winning a World Championship. Strange things are happening in Formula One. Hamilton and Rosberg’s relationship has never been better, thanks to some dubious bonding in a Monaco swimming pool. The poster boy of capitalism, Bernie Ecclestone, is planning to do away with bonus payments for the big teams. The silly season rumours continue to fly, will Kimi stay or go? More speed but less races, should we be excited about the 2017 season? Or is it all a marketing hoax? Britain may have voted to Brexit, but when will Formula One get the big Ecc-xit? Mclaren-Honda and Fernando Alonso continue to make a joke of themselves on and off track and we are happy to laugh along. With the 2016 Austrian Grand Prix coming up, we predict that the Red Bull Ring might need to be renamed as Mercedes Ring. Tune in! Lewis Hamilton finally won a Grand Prix after a long drought that lasted close to eight months. He was cheered on by his new friend Justin Bieber – musical collaboration, ‘just good friends’ or a full-blown bromance? Sorry Niki Lauda, Hamilton seems to have moved on quickly. The one Bieber song that Red Bull Racing must dedicate to Daniel Ricciardo is ‘Is It Too Late To Say Sorry’ after the “screwed” pitstop which cost the Australian a race win. To top it off, Red Bull Racing came up with the most ridiculous justification for their error. Should Ricciardo move on or stay put and hope for the best? Is the 'Baby Webber' to the 'Baby Vettel'? And we're convinced that Max Verstappen's only possible weakness is the Monaco Grand Prix. Did Red Bull Racing gift the race to Mercedes to settle their debt from Spain? If Pirelli’s ultra softs can last 47 laps, does that mean that the hards would last two race distances? If so, that’s longer than what the Honda engine lasts! What the hell happened to Nico Rosberg, does he deserve to be World Champion after a drive like this? And a BIG cheer for Force India and Sergio Perez for their podium finish! We also tell you why Fernando Alonso should play football before every race, how Sauber are learning from the best, and why McLaren-Honda will finally win races in 2022. Tune in! Sebastian Vettel recently said that he fails to understand the 'selfie generation' and social media. This is possibly why he is 'most suited' to replace Bernie Ecclestone as F1's oh-so-important CEO, say Mithila and Kunal in this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast. The leaked payment reports also indicated that Mclaren-Honda were paid nearly $82 million in 2015 - a tad too much to pay for entertainment alone! Honda announced that they will focus on 'power' in their 'power'units; a season too late? And we also bring to you our special feature - 'Hamming Around With Lewis Hamilton'. After being humiliated by Fernando Alonso in public a few weeks ago, Johnny Herbert decided to strike back via a video starring his arch-rival, Lewis Hamilton. Could the famous 'MSC' abbreviation be back in F1? Why the Chinese Grand Prix could be shorter? And finally, why Hamilton might have none or very few followers in China? The repeat mismanagement of the qualifying fiasco has brought Formula 1's power struggles to the fore, say Mithila and Kunal in this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast. While the FIA & FOM seem to have ganged up against the teams, the fans have been neglected yet again. And for a change, the drivers too. Given that the 'three tyre compound' rule seems to be working wonders for the sport, the duo wonder if this was a fluke decision after all. Also, does it make the sport a tad too confusing at times? We tell you why we prefer tyre strategy over fuel strategy. Nico Rosberg's victory in Bahrain was long overdue, but the same can be said about his career as well. Whether the 'five consecutive wins' statistic works for him or not, Rosberg is a true champion and we tell you why. As for Lewis Hamilton, he seems better in finishing races than starting them; will this prompt a rule change by the FIA-FOM to help him back to his winning ways? We discussed the Hamilton-Bottas incident and wonder if the FIA Stewards are missing Pastor Maldonado this season. Fernando Alonso might have missed performing on track in Bahrain, but he did make up for it via a stellar performance on LIVE TV with Johnny Herbert. Clap! Clap! And we wouldn't be surprised if Stoffel Vandoorne reluctantly returned the keys of the Mclaren-Honda back to Alonso for China. Lastly, are Ferrari pushing their development agenda at the cost of reliability? And did you know that three out of Kimi Raikkonen's last four podium finishes came at circuits where there was no alcohol served (on the podium). Tune in! Consider this, the first official episode of The Harrison101 Motorsport Podcast. Huzzah! In this episode, me and Ryan King break down the collapses of Caterham and Marussia, take another look at silly season with Alonso’s impending McLaren/Honda arrival, and whether it should be Button or K-Mag on the way out, as well as Sauber’s impending weird situation with Nasr and Ericcson signed, with Sutil and Esteban still under contract. Also, we talk about Bernie’s recent comments regarding the youth of F1 fans and why upon deeper discussion, he may have a stronger point than you think. We also review the two GP’s we missed in America and Brazil, and even sprinkle in a little MotoGP in Valencia talk at the end as well. Spoiler alert: We like Jack Miller. A lot. Enjoy everyone!
Has 'heavy partying' compromised Lewis Hamilton's pace wonder Mithila and Kunal in this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast. And if so, shouldn't Nico Rosberg hire a professional party planner already? Kunal also explains why Hamilton's race in P2 was far better than all of Rosberg's races in P2 this season. The duo thank God yet again for Max Verstappen and wonder if there's a lesson or two for Kimi Raikkonen. They put their marketing hats together and offer a new positioning for the ailing but humourous Mclaren-Honda team. Lastly, they ask if Vettel's helmet act on the podium (a la MotoGP style) should become mandatory next season onwards. Tune in! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Join Grace and me as we discuss the Formula 1 news of the week. We chat about gassing F1 drivers and their wives, McLaren Honda's issues, Silly Season for engineers, digging up former champions, and Renault's 'big step'.
#250 The Canadian Grand Prix, business as usual? We look forward to the Le Mans 24 Hours. Gaming and driving, closer than ever? Sniff Petrol on Alain Prost’s peanut butter the ACO and Honda. New music: Fake Bit Polytechnic perform "Drive To The Horizon".
#242 F1 testing. Innovations on the new cars in Barcelona. How nuts is the Nissan GT-R LM Nismo, and will it work? No sponsor and little running, are McLaren-Honda in trouble? Plus Sniff Petrol on Lewis’s love life, Alonso’s disappointment, and flywheels.
If you are from Mclaren's sponsorship team, we help you solve your 'title sponsor' problem in this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast. We also joke about the FIA Super License System, a dream driver combo of Alonso-Hulkenberg and 'money in F1', we wonder if anyone makes any!
